Do you like to cook? Do you like to eat? Do you like looking at food porn?

Let's talk about some of our favorite foods, share recipes and cooking tips, and post pictures of food we wanna smash our faces into. 8D

One of my favorite things to make is jalapeno poppers. Super easy. You halve jalapenos, scoop out the insides, fill with cream cheese and then wrap with bacon. Then you just bake 'em in the oven until the bacon is cooked to your liking. We do this all the time at my house now. (Thanks @Diana for the idea.) We also have a crockpot and it's been great for throwing in drumsticks or whatever and making low-stress meals. A friend of mine passed on this recipe and it's pretty tasty, cheap, and easy as well. Another one we've done several times: Slow Cooker Sticky Chicken Drumsticks | Farmgirl Gourmet

And now, some home photography:

what kinds of tips do you have for using puff pastry?

You want to keep it as cold as possible when you're working with it, so use just your fingertips. If it gets too warm it gets gooey and you'll have to chill it back down.

Love your drumstick pic.

I like looking at foodporn! Usually through reddit (r/food, r/foodporn) or through youtubers (Strictly Dumpling and The Food Ranger are pretty good, Munchies, Bon Appetit and Eater are nice channels as well)

Most of the stuff I cook are chinese or vietmanese dishes, and I've been trying to get into beef chow fun, but it's hard (it's an easy recipe, tbf) to do cause I cant get a high enough flame in my kitchen.

I shall return with pics...

I am terrible at cooking but I am trying very hard to cook more at home. I bought myself an InstaPot but it is still sitting in its box on my kitchen table unchristened.

I am 'mainly vegetarian', but since T has given me an appetite I didn't even know was possible to have I have included fish and poultry back into my diet in an effort not to overload on carbs. Tonight the plan is to make Greek marinade chicken breasts and roasted root veggies with a balsamic glaze. If it turns out I'll post pics. :E

I only wish I could eat sushi every day for my entire life

I hate cooking but because I don't want to continue being a terrible partner I've been trying to cook more. I made a Thai vegetable curry soup the other day, and I'm doing a sheet pan pork tenderloin for tonight. We team-baked the best apple pie I've ever had and a pumpkin pie last Thanksgiving, which is the only thing I have a photo for.

I do love looking at food porn, though.
Anyone got any tips on how to hate cooking less?

I'd like to think I'm decent at cooking, even though I tend to make the same things over and over again. I do make a good chicken stir-fry, and my spaghetti sauce has always been a big hit - to the point where one friend would just straight up forgo the pasta so they could have more sauce.

I'm trying to branch out more, but, ehhhh, that's been slow going as of late. I think my biggest issue is that I live with several people and get anxious at the thought of taking up the kitchen for too long - even quick recipes take me forever because I'm painfully slow (and meticulous) with prep. When I lived on my own and then later with my best friend (so only one roommate & less of a worry about taking up the kitchen when he needed it since his schedule was on the fridge and I could work around it) I tended to cook a lot more.

I am, according to most of my friends, very good at baking.

Find recipes that only have a few ingredients or are "one pot/pan" recipes! Slow cookers are an awesome way to go for stuff that is a piece of cake, but are impressive taste wise. All you have to do is throw stuff in the cooker and it does all the work. 8D You can have some fun changing and playing with flavors and not have to spend forever at the stove.

AS FOR THIS TOPIC. I AM A HOME CHEF. A FOOD WITCH. A SNACKROMANCER IF YOU WILL.

I had the blessing of being taught the basics of cooking thanks to my grandmother, mom, and dad. So I cook almost everyday, usually with fresh ingredients, but you know shark week ends up all frozen dinners. Ò,Ó ANYWAY, I've been learning how to remake old family favorites with fresh ingredients instead of canned/boxed stuff. I also have

s i g n a t u r e m e a l s

that are things I learned how to make and perfected to my tastes. They're now what I use to impress and feed house guests. O:

Some of our house favorites:
- Lasagna
- Gyros
- Sweet Pepper Linguine
- Fajitas
- Tacos
- Spaghetti
- Chili
- Drunken Pot Roast
- Pecan Pie
- Zuppa Tuscana
- Meatloaf

I could go on forever. I EVEN RECENTLY LEARNED HOW TO MAKE A GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE THAT ACTUALLY TASTES GOOD. I HATE GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE.

I'm too lazy to dig up old pictures right now. >_> But this week I'm making some experimental recipes. A Lentil soup cause my sister gave me bags of randomass beans. And this larb recipe that @Kooriryu recommended to me. I'll get some pictures of them this week. 8D

Seconding everyone loving on slowcookers, mine was about the best investment ever made for the kitchen. It's so much less time consuming and stressful if you can just throw a bunch of ingredients into a pot and return to food being done.

The two things I enjoy making in it the most are taco meat and BBQ pulled chicken, it's so easy to make a ton and freeze leftovers until needed.

Also, a decent food processor is great for saving time and making the process more enjoyable for the more impatient cooks.

I've found that if I've been eating homemade food for a while I'm not much tempted by fast food/junk food because it just never tastes the way I want it to (Germans are afraid of seasoning or something) so that's a plus too!

On the "how to hate cooking less" thing: typically, minimalism is the way to go. Funnily, advice that goes this route (which is probably also what I'd offer) moreso solves the dilemma of "how to cook less" than the one posed. Another thing to consider, which may or may not help depending on what your beef (heh) with cooking is precisely: find some aspect to drill into that you could potentially find fun (perhaps you want to get your knife skills up so you can chop at pro-speeds and impress all the ladies, maybe you want to have some fun working with presentation and plating).

I'm making yuxiang rousi (literally translates to "fish-fragrant pork") which is a very classic Szechuan recipe that consists of pork, wood-ear mushrooms and celtuce (which is like some lettuce-celery crossbreed, but not really: Celtuce - Wikipedia ) Doesn't actually use fish, despite its name - fish-fragrant refers to a sauce that consists of, among other things, primarily garlic, and is also prevalent in dishes such as, I'm guessing, Kitti's szechuan eggplant.

if it's nice i'll come back with a picture if it's not you know why

I love to cook! It's an easy way to show the people in your life how much they mean to you and have that added benefit of yummy amazing food as well!!

When my kids were young we were heavy into Italian with the occasional pot roast and steak thrown in and lazy chicken nugget nights as well. Now I'm so much more adventurous. Tonight we are having orange chicken with rice and broccoli. Never made it before but it sounds...exceptional. I hound pinterest for new ideas and techniques.

As to the question of how not to hate cooking...fearlessness. Cooking is really an exercise in creativity and danger. I never had hot peppers until a few years ago, and now I love them and incorporate them into dishes that used to be a bit bland. If you thik of cooking as an adventure fraught with dager it will become interesting and maybe ... dare I say... fun!

Just saw this sinful shit on the food subreddit. It's deep fried pork buns with condensed milk.

It's from China Poblano in Vegas' Cosmopolitian Hotel, and I'm going there in May so hopefully I get my own personal pic with CROSSSECTION

I actually really dislike cooking. Whenever I have to cook for myself I just pull out the ricecooker, throw in the rice, water, and vegetables together and let it cook like that. The few times I do pull out more pots and pans to cook I do a lot at once so that I have batches which I can have spread out over a greater period of time. It is yet another reason why I love stews so much.

I do love eating, however. I'm lucky that I'm surrounded by people who love to cook, or are good cooks, so I can at least dodge the bullet to enter the kitchen. Unless they need someone to roll out the dumplings, because I still can't fold them.

Strangely enough I do enjoy baking, but that more has to do with the 'memory of' rather than me actually liking to stand there whisking egg whites until they form stiff peaks. I'm still looking for the egg tarts recipe I made on an almost weekly base back in secondary school.

I HEREBY BRING YOU THIS RECIPE OF LARB RECOMMENDED TO ME BY @Kooriryu !

It's absolutely amazing. O: If you think about skipping the toasted jasmine rice step because it's extra trouble -- don't]/b]. It was so worth lugging out the mortar and pestle cause it gave this tasty lil crunch.
