[Marlowe]

IC THREAD.

Seloca—a newly discovered region that is known for its Dragon-Type Pokemon. The people in this country work together alongside their Pokemon all over the land; some Pokemon serve as pets, mere companions that prevent loneliness. Others, however, are trained by humans and fight for their masters willingly. These "trainers", or so people call them, try their best to fight to achieve their goal. Whether it be to become a Gym Leader or even the Champion of the Seloca region, every trainer has a dream they believe they need to fulfill.

The Blades of Seloca have worked alongside the police force for many years to keep their people safe. They tackle the most dangerous and dirty cases out there, risking their lives for what they believe is right. Due to this, the people of the region look up to them—some even dream of joining their ranks one day.

Though, one must remember that there is more than meets the eye as they travel around the Seloca region. Some do not recall that even the sweetest faces may cover a heart full of malice.

You shall embark on a journey across Seloca. However, all of your goals will be different. Will you be a trainer, hoping to one day become the Champion of Seloca? Or will you be a member of the Blades? Maybe even a researcher on a quest to find out more about Pokemon? The choice is yours.

The setting will be the land of Seloca and its villages, towns, and cities:

Seloca City
Large and the region's capital city, Seloca City is located at the base of one of the largest known mountains, Iron Peaks. It is home to the Dragon-Type Gym Leader.

Elmswood City
A lumber and production city, Elmswood City is medium sized, close to central Seloca. Home to the Poison-Type Gym Leader.

Copperhills Village
At the peak of the smallest mountain in the region, Copper Hills, is a metal production city. And strangely enough, is home to the Steel-Type Gym Leader.

Beachdune Town
The largest port city, and the safest place to land a boat, is a known tourist attraction for the regions. Home to the Water-Type Gym Leader.

East and West Angel City
The largest city in the region, Angel City was once an all-around wonder, and was known as the "Most Impressive City in the World". But greed and corporations grew, and so did factories. East Angel City became the slums, or known by many, the Ghetto City. It is home to the Ghost-Type Gym Leader. West Angel City, however, is still a technological wonder, home to skyscrapers and many more amazing places. It is home to the Electric-Type Gym Leader.

Mysticbay City
Despite its name, Mysticbay City is far from mystic, but instead is named due to the Fairy Pokemon who migrate here during the winter. Mysticbay City is the small port city on this list and is home to the newly made Fairy-Type Gym Leader.

Ember City
Ember City is named for the city's Fire-Type Gym Leader. It is fairly religion-based city and located between Elmswood City and Seloca City.

Personality: Quiet and a little reserved, and meek above all else, Yosuke would normally be an antithesis to an outspoken individual. Tends to not speak unless spoken to, a shy man. Rarely confides in or trusts any individual, save for Kou. Does not handle mentions of abuse of any kind well.

As a child, Yosuke was constantly abused by his parents, being underfed and beaten. Crying led to him being beaten more. At one point, he was even a constant target for molestation and rape by both of his parents. It took a near-death experience of hours of rape and torture and being left to die until local officers took notice to his cries and decided to take action accordingly.
At the age of 10, his parents were arrested, and he was sent to an orphanage, awaiting a foster family to give him a second chance at his life. A family never came. So, the anorexic, afraid Yosuke stayed for the rest of his childhood, alone, until finding his first friend at 12. A local Pokemon shelter had an unexpected birth of a litter of Eevee, not being able to afford the space. The headmistress of the orphanage, seeing how badly Yosuke needed a friend, decided to show him an act of genuine kindness and let him have an Eevee.
It took a few weeks for Yosuke, but eventually, he warmed up to the small Pokemon, being given affection by her. Yosuke took it upon himself to personally care for the Eevee, returning the companionship and affection. He named her Kou, a simple name meaning happiness and peace. He decided to leave the orphanage and become a trainer at 18, a bit old to start training. But, considering how much Yosuke and Kou cared for each other, it was a strong bond and companionship.

Personality:
Wyeth was originally a friendly lad. However, ever since he has joined the Blades, he has grown a little… more difficult to deal with. He allows himself to be cocky and loud with the excuse of being highly ranked in the Selocan Blades. He enjoys indulging in women and drink to the point of being a nuisance. Even though he is somewhat of a scumbag, he is adored by many young "maidens", or so he calls them.

While Wyeth can be hard to deal with, he is extremely loyal to his cause. After proving his worth several times, his "boss" dubbed him "The Black Arcanine". Though many think that it is a shameful alias to bear, he wears it with pride.

He can be sweet and caring to an extent. Just don't annoy him.

Biography:
Not much is known about Wyeth. If you ask him, he might say he was born in Seloca's southern parts, near the stormy seas. Then again, he might state that he was born in the capital of Seloca, which is to the north. Many wonder about his history and what exactly he did to get into the Blades, but they can only make assumptions.

Personality: Simon is generally a very relaxed and laid back person, never one to get too worked up about much of anything of less than the utmost importance. He likes to go with the flow, wander wherever the wind takes him. If something sounds interesting enough, he'll pursue it until it starts to become too much of a hassle. In order to keep himself and his Pokemon fed, he collects rare items and presents them to collectors or other interested parties. Simon doesn't concern himself with the character of his buyers, so long as they're up front with payment. In his experience, folks tend to appreciate his personal policy of not asking many questions, if any. Outside of his livelihood, he falls closer to the "good guy" side of the allignment spectrum, while still being somewhat gray in that regard. He understands that wrong and right can't always be clearly defined.

Biography: Simon was born and raised in Elmswood, but utterly consumed by wanderlust, left home as soon as he thought he was old enough to properly fend for himself. That notion was proven false when he'd run out of funding and have to return home time and time again, carried on the back of his tireless companion, Tully. Though he does still rely heavily on him and his Abra, Hera for transportation, he has since grown and realized he can't just rely on battle winnings to survive on his own. With that in mind, he started gathering and selling the excess junk he'd normally just ignore during his travels. He figured that if he didn't want or need it, someone would. That alone was enough to keep him from having to turn around and head back home sooner than he wanted, but it wasn't until he was approached by a rather dapper gentleman about an item he'd sold to his friend that he discovered his true calling.

As it turned out, the item he'd sold to this man's friend was considered a rarity in that town. The shiny star-shaped rock he'd found in that cave was more than just a shiny star-shaped rock. Well, to him it WAS just a neat little rock, but not to a rich collector. The man was willing to pay considerably more than he'd sold the item for if he ever came across another one, more than any one item he'd ever sold might have fetched. He did find another some time later, sold it and quickly discovered a love for the luxury a good payoff could afford. From then on, he began hunting down uncommon and rare things, selling them off and making contacts in different towns across Seloca and beyond, making small fortunes and blowing them in no time. A smarter man might have saved the excess of his earnings, invested in something and settled down somewhere, but he'd much rather spoil himself and his companions and keep wandering from place to place, chasing down valuable junk for collectors with deep pockets.

Personality: Sayuri is naturally gentle and kind, but becomes aggressive when battling. She absolutely adores small pokemon, despite her large Haxorus, and tends to act like a doting mother when around them. Her gentle personality often attracts wild Pokemon as they usually flock around her. Other than that, she is a mature woman who knows her rights from wrongs and sets her priorities straight.

Biography: Growing up, Sayuri lived wIth her single mother, who owned a daycare for Pokemon and children. Her mother, often busy with the kids, had her take care of the Pokemon in her place. She learned to handle them and grow strong bonds with each idividual creature. At the age of 18, she left home and worked at various places while travelling, searching for different Pokemon. Years later, she found her Haxorus and Lucario.

Personality:
Suzume is a curious young woman. At times she is calm and laid back, not bothered by things that go on around her. She maintains a cool expression when there are arguments that don't involve her. She rather stay out of conflict with friends and family unless she decides that she really has to intervene. When in an argument, she shows her other side—the one that is stubborn and fiery. It is strange to see such a calm woman stand up for herself with such vigor and stubbornness. However, getting Suzume out of an argument is just as difficult as her getting into one. She hates when she doesn't have the last word or when she doesn't know what to say. When this happens, she usually turns away from her "temporary opponent" and tosses a few insults over her shoulder.

Suzume is very tuned in with training Pokemon due to her past, and dearly loves them. She is a huge Pokemon lover and will defend them no matter if they're creepy or slimy. When she sees that someone is abusing them, she will not hesitate to step up and protect them with all of the fire and energy she has hidden away in her petite body.

Biography:
Born to a pair of lovers in Kalos, Suzume was raised alongside Pokemon and people alike. She discovered her love for Pokemon when she observed her father and mother working with them in a day-care center. It was never difficult to get her to play with Pokemon, no matter how large or scary looking. Suzume received her first Pokemon, a Snivy she named Basilisk, when she was only seven. Basilisk and her have been inseparable ever since—even when she decided to travel to Seloca and start her Pokemon journey there.

It didn't take Suzume a long time to catch her first Pokemon in the Seloca region; Lux and Basilisk didn't get along at first, and still don't. Especially when Basilisk decided that he was the top dog when he evolved. Though her two Pokemon frequently fight, she treats them both the same to show that she doesn't prefer either of them. If only that worked…

Personality: Shay's curious and has always been one for adventure. She likes to keep her mind busy so she won't be bored (she can't stand to be bored). She's also a bit of a loner, but she's not opposed to traveling with someone for a short time. If someone she doesn't like or know tells her not to do something without explanation, she won't hesitate to do it anyway. She's the kind of determined that sometimes comes off as stubborn.

Biography: While most children in the town she grew up in played whatever games they played together, Shay would often sneak off to the forest and climb trees and watch the Pokemon. The other children noticed this after a while, and began to make fun of her for it. This just caused her to withdraw to the forest more frequently.

Even though she wanted to begin her Pokemon journey when she was a bit younger, her parents discouraged it. She did as they said and stayed with them a bit longer, though she spent basically every free moment she had going into the woods. A few years later (she'd be about 18 ish) during one of these trips, she met a Pokemon researcher, and after they had talked for a while, she asked if she could learn about becoming a researcher. Once she explained it to her parents, they didn't seem all too against it, and let her go. Now that she's been learning for a while, she's going on a journey to learn about the region and former a bond with her Pokemon. She started with Blaze and met Calix along the way.

'Eccentric' is probably the nicest way to describe the white clad gentleman, though perhaps 'unhinged', 'insane' or 'just plain batty' would be more accurate. Constantly talking to himself whether or not others are present, scribbling barely legible notes on whatever surface he can find, undertaking dubiously ethical experiments in his spare time, one could see why he'd be considered a bit... off. Yet through the madness shines a certain brilliance, unparalleled by most in his field.

Biography:
None are quite certain where Dr. Kagari hails from, though he claims to have family in West Angel City, and will occasionally mention how he fondly remembers swimming in the sludge polluted river as a child, though without the sarcasm one might expect from such a statement.

He joined up with the Blades of Seloca nearly a year ago, after assisting them in tracking down a serial offender that had eluded their capture for some time. With only his forensic kit, some latex gloves and a liiiiittle help from their nationwide DNA database, the criminal's identity was discovered and he was locked behind bars for good. Impressed with his work, the higher-ups in the Blades offered him a job in their organization, which he accepted after seeing the advanced lab equipment he'd be able to get his hands on... oh, uh, and of course, to help people. You know, all that nonsense.

Vera is easily distracted, curious, and a glutton for knowledge. She's intrusive, and will more likely than not come across as impolite. Nonetheless she is often praised for her keen intellect and furthermore her information on various types of Pokemon. She is known to prefer training in the mountains and wilds throughout Seloca rather than against trainers, when asked why, she shrugs- but she does actually know the reason why, but that's a question you'd have to ask her yourself.

Biography:
Daughter to an archaeologist and a house-wife, Vera lived most of her childhood peacefully in Copperhills Village. From an early age she showed curiosity in her fathers work, fascinated with the mysterious of the fast and the fossil Pokemon her father had uncovered. In her youth, one fateful day, Mr. Umholtz returned home with one of his newest findings at work, a golden mask.. Immediately to Vera's surprise the mask sprung to life, revealing itself to be a Yamask. Telling his daughter of the haunting knowledge of what Yamasks are believed to be, Vera was inevitably infatuated with the Ghost Pokemon and he has been her companion ever since.

Personality:
Often seen as confident and optimistic, Shou will either please people or annoy them. He has an unfortunate habit of giving people nicknames and may occasionally be laid-back to the point where he will be scolded for it. He definitely isn't the type who gives up easily, however, as he can be very passionate and determined with his goals. He may at times be smug with people, which consequently can make him come across as arrogant. Don't ever take him too lightly though. One can never know if he has a card up his sleeve.

Biography:
Born and raised in the Unova region, Shou wasn't exactly the most innocent child you'd meet. Often up to no good, it wasn't unheard of for him to get in trouble with others, generally for having poked fun at them. With his mother working as a hostess, he was usually forced to stay at her café for hours on end. Although he possessed a mischievous nature, Shou wasn't actually the kind who bullied or harassed people. He was simply a very bored kid, and all of this changed when he received his first Pokémon from his father - a Purrloin. With his father being a trainer and traveler, Shou often ended up tagging along with him, fortunate enough to witness many battles at a young age. It was hardly a surprise that he ended up loving Pokémon and battling alike as much as his father did. Over the years, Shou and Purrloin had developed a close bond with each other, and because of that bond, it was difficult for both of them when Shou became old enough to set off on his own journey. With Purrloin staying with his parents, Shou had received an egg from his mother and set of to the Seloca region to become a Gym leader.

Upon his arrival, he had the luck of being pranked by a Sneasel - resulting in him having a few of his possessions stolen and hidden away, including his glasses. Fortunately for him, he wasn't entirely helpless, the egg from before having hatched into a Murkrow. Many struggles later, Shou regained what he lost as well as an additional Pokémon. With Ferion's greedy nature and with Ebony being quite frankly a rascal, Shou regularly has to deal with the disputes between his Pokémon.
