(KINDA WIP Your help is appreciated)

In a far flung future a drug is discovered to be able to increase the longevity of the user indefinitely, as well as keeping them in their prime and fixing all matter of age related breakdowns (Cancer, dementia, brittle bones thin skin etc etc) but of course this is not a panacea. the person still can die of various life threatening diseases and wounds received. the company was hyper secretive about the formula and kept the price high, this meant that only the most elite could buy the refined compound. which meant various rebel, and revolutionary groups sought to boycott the company of other products. furthermore, it was eventually discovered that this drug and many more of their miracles of science could only be synthesized in the cervical spinal fluid of some animals. harvesting it, would kill the creature.

in an attempt to save money, through production costs, a specialized micro-machinery was developed to make any vertabrate organism produce a cocktail of drugs in their spinal fluid. however, to prevent some well meaning scientist from simply releasing this micro-machinery and giving free immortality (It doesn't work that way anyway) they made the machinery pathogenic. something on par with a zombie virus. fast spreading, highly lethal, the infected themselves losing their mind so that the proprietary information to their corporation would be found, contained and destroyed as soon as possible.

in a freak accident, suspected as a terrorist attack, vast quantities of the virus were released, poisoning the soil and water, making the "Scorpion-7" research facility on planet "Lazarus" a biological hotzone which was quarantined, but the procedure failed. the planet which was a combination of vast cities and wide open farms was evacuated as best as possible, but it was elected to ignore the zombies and compensate the people of the planet that had escaped for their losses, instead of risking more lives in decontamination procedures.

BTR Teams, or "Biologic Threat Response" were dispatched to keep an eye on the quarantined planet. nothing leaves space around the planet unless properly sterilized and checked. after all, they don't want another outbreak. of whatever horrible disease infects Lazarus.

but far below on the planet an interesting culture has developed. encrypted digital signals, can be sent out, calling for supplies to be dropped. and certain items which are locked away in "Sample cases" can be retrieved. a culture of mercenaries hunt the zombies (Referred to as "Vectors") extracting their fluids and sending them skyward for a pay day. then call in weapons, vehicles and whatever other supplies they need to live on. the more business minded, have sought to continue this economic machine. greasing palms to bring in more prey for the Vectors, and thus more money in their belt. they have found that human prey (okay "alien" prey too) produce more drug than most other creatures. there's nothing separating the Mercs from the Survivors. in a way they're all just humans looking to survive. The Chief difference is that the survivors don't get any money for killing Vectors. they lack the technology to warp the samples skyward. Survivors are usually just using whatever they can find.

so... let's talk about the standard merc's kit.
first is "The Badge" A nifty little BRT piece of apparatus that acts as a hands free light, but will also give an indicator if the person wearing it is infected. it's hexagonal in shape and reads "Reflects green when infected"
you need one of those to get into any of the merc settlements.

next, it's assumed that you're a member of the "(IDK GALACTIC CONCORDIA?)" and have a Thumbprint ID. (Subdermal RFID dohickey) using that in junction with a Communicator, you can call various contractors to send gear down, and send up payment of samples using the teleportation array at the merc stronghold.

you could feasibly leave the planet, but the procedures are expensive. and failing to follow the procedures results in Immediate immolation by the BRT.

Now a bit about the "Cultists"
there are a small contingent of cultists out in the wastes, that are merely "Carriers" for the disease, their views are a bit wonky, so some are like super zombies, seeking to climb/ fly over fortifications and infect as many people as possible (Blue light resistant, they eat other zombies?). others of this type are merely outcasts, unable to live among survivors OR mercs. because of trust issues, or bounties. the cultists can also be refered to as "Alphas" "Alpha Zomboids" or "Alpha Vectors"

Bestiary:
Basically, there's several levels of Vector, the short version is, "Half human" "Human" Twice human" "ONOZ" (names can be disputed)

"Half human" are your shambly types brought on by turned humans that don't eat enough or recieve too much UV light to stay strong around 5 credits worth of serum per kill
Bad path finding, and no understanding of doors. somtimes called "Shamblers"

"Human" Vectors that are about as strong as a human, maintain complex pathfinding, and simple knowledge of stuff like doors (this remains constant in higher levels)
This is your default Vector 10 Credits

"Twice Human" is the designation given to the vectors that are twice as strong and fast as your average human. somtimes called "Ghouls" these only come out at night. 50 Credits.

"Onoz"
that's what you say when you run into one of these "OH NO! OH NO!" and then you're dead....like.... ten times over. strength of ten men, Payout of the same plus the cost of all the medical and psychological costs you'll have, 1000 Credits

Talk to me. tell me what you like and don't and all those kinds of things?

the bigger Scarier vectors are sun sensitive. no bestiary is fleshed out yet, but more money is doled out for the night Vector's bounty. settlements keep the nasties at bay with UV lights.

[This is a group plotting thread and not an actual OOC right?] ^.^

Yes. I'm looking for tweaks on this, as well as more specific settings and plots and somthing a little bit more than "Here's zombies go get" I'm a really big fan of "what ifs" and so yeah.... ideas are mostly here but it's missing a bit of plot.
