Last Man Standing

When he said his name Dallas nodded. It was progress to him. he knew that Leonel wasn't as tough as he potraied himself to be, he was probublly just a nice guy because if he wasn't he would have left him down there and wouldn't have cared so much that he could have gotten killed. Dallas watched him stand up and walk tword the other couch and he wondered if he had done something wrong. Turning his head he looked out the window. The sun was setting and he knew it was a matter of time bfore the delenquents came out.

Dallas was surprised to hear that the police station was empty and full of rouge cops. He had heard many people talking about the place and that their was supplies but now he was thinking mabey it was just talk. " Well then i'll have to prepare myself to head onward to the hospital then, i can use whatevers left then".

A sigh of relif washed over him when he said that their was a shower and not to abuse his hot water. " Trust me i wont. Dallas got up from the couch and took off his shoes and socks placin them next to his bag and jacket and then his shirt. he unbottoned his pantds and had them halfway down as he headed into the the bathroom. After talking off all his clothes he stepped in and let the warm water his his body and a shower was just what he needed. Dallas made sure not to take long and after drying off he put on his boxers and stepped out. " That was the best shower i ever had". he said running his hands through his semi wet hair.

Leonel nodded at him then placed the riffle and began cleaning it with some cloth he found lying around when
Dallas had headed to the bathroom, at first he found weird his freedom of just taking off his clothes like that,
but he didn't mind that much, he only looked at the weapon he was tending to, concentrating on it.

The rumors about the hospital, he himself didn't know if it were true or not, but he knew animals
had probably taken over, not to mention the rogues, assassins, slavers and much more, it was faint
but he had hopes of finding something useful, thinking back into it he knew he was also short on supplies
and the trip would be way safer if they traveled together, back and forth. However he also knew
that relating to somebody for too long was a bad idea and oh did he know about that, his thoughts were
a complete mess to him right now.

His memories of that past of his haunted him at every corner no matter how much time passed and no matter
how much he ran from it trying to think nothing of it, because of him and his will to always be the good one of
the tale, he had already caused much suffering, he wasn't going to take that anymore and never again, not
once more would he get too related, so he thought that if by the third day Dallas wasn't gone, he'd have to go,
however convenient his presence was.

Finally he simply laid back on the couch and closed his eyes, not noticing it
when Dallas had left the bathroom half naked, he was drowsy,
so closing his eyes and relaxing like that had caused him to fall asleep.

Dallas looked over to see Leonel fast asleep on one of the couches. He looked peaceful and somewhat cute. Sitting on the other couch Dallas thought more about heading to the hospital. But the one thing that concerned him was would there be enough supplies or any at that matter. he knew people thought that hospitals were like safe heavens and he jsut didn't want his chances of finding decent suplies gone. The only other supplies were with delinquents.

All he had left was himself. His hideout was probubally gone to some thugs or bums that could have found it. He was glad that he took all his things with him. It was now dark and he walked to the window watching the delenquents raid a few stores a half a block away. he could hear some gun shots comming from that direction and he figured some people were getting even with a few of them.

After a while he walked over to the couch and layed down putting the jacket over his body. It didn't
really take him that long to fall asleep.

Sometime during the night the strong noise of an explosion could be heard, probably
rogues trying to get people out their hiding spots, but it immediately got Leonel to wake up and look around,
he neared the window and aimed with his riffle to see if he could spot what was going on outside, but a harsh
noise just downstairs alerted him that something was very wrong, and it wasn't until he could hear people
screaming on the stairway that led to the apartment when he kicked Dallas "Wake up, someone found us!" he
whispered, then ran towards the bedroom, walking out with a backpack and his riffle.

"This way" he said, walking out the window to the balcony which was very well camouflaged by white paint,
probably Leonel's clever idea, he got onto the edge of the sidebar and jumped to the next one which looked painted
as well, then he turned to look over if Dallas was following him.

Dallas was finially at rest. He couldn't hear a thing and his body was drifting off into his normal sleep zone... He found himself hunched over and on the floor. His stomach hurt like hell and when he stoop up he finally understood was Leonel was saying. Quickly he put on his clothes and then his jacket and grabbed the gun off the table and his bag. He was still half asleep but he kept up and followed Leonel. The only thing that was going in his head was how did they find them? Dallas figured he would wake up when he heard the noise but he was just too tired to hear a damn thing.

He followed right behind him out the window not looking back. Landing the jump as he keep moving. It was only a matter of time. They were checking houses and buildings from when he first arrived. They probubally came to check places they haden't before. Dallas rubbed his eyes and sighed in annoyance. He wanted to kill them but he'd first have to learn how to shoot a gun.

He at first glared but then he continued on and ran from balcony to balcony until eventually he reached a fire scape
set of stairs, he slid down as fast as he could and suddenly, on the air a gunshot was heard, probably a missing bullet,
Leonel clearly seemed to have ignored it and ran off, not before calling out for Dallas and continuing onwards without
stopping, the direction was south, probably the hospital Leonel had mentioned, or a hideout, but because of his red jacket it was hard
to miss him from view, but it also made of him an easy prey, specially with that face and body, there were still many men
and women, not to mention slavers who would kill to capture someone like him.

But oh he was not foolish, not one bit, he hid everytime someone walked or ran by, he didn't let himself off of
the shadows or be seen by anyone but Dallas. "We need a hideout for the night, you know any place?" he
whispered while he rested his back agaisn't the wall of an alley, hiding from an angry small crowd.

Dallas kept on moving not even darning to stop, afraid of what might happen if he did. As he followed Leonel he heard a gun shot. Moving even faster then before .He headed down the flight of stairs and kept on running. He moved every single muscle in his entire body by now. Eventually they stopped, hiding in the shadows in an alleway. It was a smart idea because there was a whole bunch of people running about. If they were to come out of hiding he could only imagine what would have happened.

Leonel's jacket wasn't helping either. It was like he had a big " Come find me" Sign right on him. Dallas looked over at Leonel when he asked if he knew any places they could stay for the night. " Yeah i know a place not to far from here, come on". Instantally he moved keeping a steady pace as he timed himself. Making sure the other people wern't watching. Slipping between a huge broken door and a building he looked on the ground till he found a hatch.

Pulling it open he jumped down. " Hurry up". Dallas looked around supprised that nothing was untouched. he figured somone would look hard enough and find the place. it looked run down. There was a bed and a small pile of clothes in the corner. A matress was on the other end but it was ripped to shreads. Across from it was a small table. " Well here we are". Dallas tossed his bag on the floor and put his gun on the table taking a seat. " Sorry, its not as nice as your place".

Leonel nodded as soon as he got his answer and followed, he could see the fires breaking out from afar and
he twitched his shoulders each time he heard a gunshot or an explosion, but he thought nothing of it, at the
moment he was more concerned into making it to the place Dallas had mentioned, with the hopes that he'd get
a bit more of calm.

Soon he stopped and glanced over at Dallas, wondering what he was doing, but when he opened the hatch he
sighed, it wasn't a new place for him, he'd seen it some times on his trips to the outside in search for food,
but he never thought someone actually lived there, or dared going down, taking in mind that it could be
filled with plagues, or with rogues, he didn't even care anymore, when they went down and closed the hatch
so it wouldn't be seen he looked around as soon as the light was on, there wasn't that much to offer,
but he immediately he walked to the bed and sat on the edge, bringing a hand to his side, sighing, and clenching his
teeth, trembling a bit

"I know this is rude to ask ...but do you have bandages?" he suddenly said, looking over at Dallas with a distressed expression.

Dallas took off his jacket placing it on the back of the chair before he looked at Leonel who was sitting on the bed. His face looked pale and then he looked down realizing he was holding his hand on his side. When he asked for bandages he immeditally walked over to his bag and pulled some of the bandages out. Thank god he had some gauze and other medical items. Walking over tword the bed Dallas slowly moved Leonel's hand away so he could get a look.

He was bleeding. Shaking his head he pulled Leonel's shirt off over his head and then placed the bandages on the side of the bed. Dallas hoped the bullet went though his body because it would be painful if he had to take the bullet out. Opening the medical wipes he wiped it on the wound. " Sorry this is going to hurt just a bit". He has to clean the wound before he could even wrap the bandages. One Dallas cleaned the wound he wrapped the bandages around his sides.

Leonel at first twitched in pain and refused to show him the wound, but soon he finally laid
his anger behind to let him watch, he had taken his jacket off before so when Dallas almost
seemed to have panicked and took off his shirt his face grew red, but he probably hadn't noticed
that anyways, when he felt the alcohol on his wound as it was being cleaned he let out a moan
of pain while he twitched, the bullet was inside, and without proper calipers, it would be extremely
painful to take the bullet out, he knew this, so when he began wrapping the bandages on his abdomen,
he turned to look at Dallas a bit more calm.

His chest had scars as if he had been scratched all over by an animal or someone with very long
nails, and they were very old, he also had scars on his arms and it seemed like bite marks as well,
it was hard to see because his skin was naturally pale and very fine, but it was obvious that
they were signs of torture, including a rope mark on his neck.

"Can I put on my shirt?" he hissed.

Dallas could tell by the way Leonel's breathing contracted that the bullet was inside. Once he finished with the bandages he placed a clean roll on the side of the bed and then looked at Leonel's chest. At first Dallas didn;t notice because he was tending to his wound but his chest...it was something else. The cuts that looked like he'd been beat over and over. It didn't look like regular cuts either. The more he looked over his body the more he felt bad.

Before he knew what he was doing, Dallas brought his hand up to Leonel's chest and gently traced the marks. It felt like it was painful. He wondered if this was the reason he acted so rough around the edges. Stopping himself his hand rested on his chest for a breif moment before Dallas stood up and then handed him his shirt. " It would be wise to leave your shirt off, the wound needs air or it'll get infected quicker".

Since there was only one bed Dallas didn't mind sleeping on the floor. He used his jacket and placed it on the floor and then his backpack for head support. " Tommarow we can make our way to the hospital, the people can tend to your wound and get the bullet out". Turning on his side he pulled out his brothers dogtag and stared at it.

At first he looked at Dallas's face, but then his expression went serious when his hand reached
to caress each wound on his chest with such a pained expression he only looked away for a moment
before he retired that hand and spoke up about not putting on his shirt, Leonel was about to
say something sarcastic, but by then Dallas was already on the floor and watching some silver
thing he hadn't seen before.

He lied down and turned to look at him after letting out a soft sigh, placing his right hand on his side,
obviously because his wound hurt from moving like that.
"What is that?" he asked, quite curious, although his expression said otherwise, even if he didn't mean
to look like that.

While he layed on the floor looking at his dogtag he sighed. Sometimes he wished things were the way they used to be. Peaceful, a place that wasn't deserted and were buildings weren't crrubled to the ground. Before he went out searching for medical supplies he was walked past many houses...or what remained of the house. Everything looked so diffent. There was no laughter only screaming. Children crying as they watched their parents die.

Dallas was going to but the dogtag away when he heard Leonel ask about it. " Oh its my brothers old dogtag, He gave it to me before he died". Placing it under his shirt he let out a breath and then he looked up at the cealing. From outside he couldn't really hear much and for that he was greatful. The last thing he wanted was to have trouble sleeping. Eventually he closed his eyes and fell asleep. Tommarow was just going to be another long day.

Leonel blinked but then he looked away, and when he noticed Dallas had fallen asleep he
glanced back, he was of course an attractive man and someone of little needs, he wasn't cheap,
and he hadn't slit his throat yet, he thought only for a second that maybe being around him wasn't
too bad, that maybe and just maybe this time he'd be able to protect someone again, but as
soon as the thought crossed his mind he frowned and his his forehead with both hands gritting his
teeth angrily "Obviously not, you can't protect anyone" he whispered at himself before just lying there
staring at the ceiling.

The next morning was quiet, and Leonel was awake, he had taken apart his whole riffle and was
cleaning each part in a very careful manner, taking care of not breaking anything, even the lens were
very easily handled. His face showed permanent focus and didn't even dare looking at Dallas not for a
single second, it had became overwhelming to only thinking of glancing at him, he knew he'd probably
say some comment like "You need to rest" or "are you alright" or something of that shape.
He loathed that but what could he do about it.

When Dallas woke up he rubbed his eyes and yawned. His body had its much needed rest and now he felt better than he had yesterday. Blinking a few times he let his eyes get adjusted to his surroundings before he looked over at the bed. When he didn't see Leonel he quickly sat up and then let out a sigh when he found him cleaning his rifle. Standing up and streaching, Dallas rubbed his eyes before going in his bag and pulling out a candy bar. Splitting it in half he took out a water bottle and then walked over placing the candybar next to him.

He was going to say something about him being up and out of bed but he looked so focued on his gun he decided to just leave it alone. Once he finished taking some gulps out of the water bottle he placed it next to the half a candybar. " We should be heading out soon, the quicker we leave the faster will be at the hospital to clean and tend to your wound".

Dallas gathered his things and then looked over at Leonel. Immeditally he looked away and then put on his jacket. " Hey um.. would you mind teaching me how to use a gun? I mean i dont totally suck but my shooting could be alot better". Opening up the hatch he looked around seeing that nobody was around and it was quiet.

Leonel at first heed not attention to him at all, not even when he placed the candy bar
or when he commented that they had to get going, but he did something impressing when
Dallas opened the hatch, he rearmed the weapon perfectly in a time span of under two minutes
as if he had done it his entire life, he had his shirt on so when he stood up he only groaned
and gripped on where his wound was for a moment before standing straight and taking his jacket.

"Teach you?" he said, by the he still had ignored the water and the candy, "I only know how to
use the sniper riffle, but I believe it to be the same formula" he said and pulled Dallas closer, maybe
too much but then he took the gun from his belt and put it in his hand, soon he stood behind him
and lifted his arm, putting him into a shooting position. "The calibration and precision are the main key of success."
he began explaining "whether or not you want to kill your victim, it is irrelevant you only need to hit your target,
most people are stupid, they waste bullets like they were candy. You need to focus on a target, close your eyes and
see it in your mind." he continued now basically whispering to his ear, his soft hair on Dallas's neck and partly his face,
"And after a long calm breath, you shoot." he finished, turning to look at Dallas.

Dallas turnned and watched Leonel stand up with slight pain before putting on his jacket. It didn't seem like he was going to eat the candybar or drink the water which he needed to but he was a grown man so he wasn't going to think much of it. When he turned around he was surprised to see him standing there and when he pulled him close. Dallas caught his breath and then released when he took the gun from his belt and then placed it in his hand.

In a blink of an eye, Leonel was behind him putting his hand into a shooting position. He could practically feel his body as he breathed. Dallas listened to his talk. Well he tried. Leonel sounded diffrent than before. His voice was clam againt his ear. Dallas was practically haveing a hard time controlling his breathing. Feeling his hair on his neck was another thing. When he finished talking Dallas turned to face him and since they were so close, he turned smack dead in his face, Looking at him for a few seconds he looked away and nodded. " Thanks i know now". Keeping the hatch open he climbed up and then offred Leonel a hand. Dallas mind was lost in his own thoughts at the moment. Standing up he looked around to make sure things were still quiet.

He moved away as soon as he had said he understood and watched him as he went toward the exit
of the hatch and went outside, offering him a hand, at first he refused the help because he felt too
embarrassed deep inside to actually accept any help, and when he tried climbing up on his own the
wound only hurt him harder, and because of this he only took Dallas's hand and let him help,
walking away as soon as he was on his feet again.

Everything was quie and calm, here and there were some dogs, which was weird enough as to alert Leonel
that something was way too wrong for their own good "Dogs" he mumbled while gripping on Dallas's jacket, pulling it
"We have to run before they see us, the owner of those dogs... you don't want to meet him" he whispered before pulling
him to run away, but it was mission failed for them, since he stopped dry at the sight of two white and enormous dogs
who began growling fiercely at them, and barking as well, Leonel pulled and aimed his riffle but he thought it up twice,
the gunshot would alarm all the other dogs of their presence and they could die if he shot, however he couldn't just
be okay with it and do nothing about it, the beasts were going to bite them or in the worst of cases leap at them
aiming for their neck to kill him and Dallas. His blood had turned into ice, he was unable to move or talk at all, and more than
afraid he was distressed by the fact that he didn't want to let Dallas get hurt for some reason, but he also didn't want to
just do something stupid that would get him killed as well.

However they got lucky, some random stranger yelled at the dogs and shot one, the beasts took it as a target
and ran after him like a mob of angered monsters, in that instant the ones in front of Dallas and Leonel also ran after them,
he sighed and pulled his jacket to make them run, and when the noise was no longer hearable he stopped and fell on his
knee, clenching onto his wound and complaining a little bit. "Damn it..."

Dallas waited for Leonel to take his hand. At first he didn't but eventually he knew he couldn't get out in his condition. Once he helped him up he looked in the same direction Leonel did and spotted the dogs. And of couse they weren't the small dogs but they had to be the big ass killer dogs. The saliva dripped from their mouth and they looked liked they wanted to rip them to shreads. When Leonel said that they had to get away and how he didn't want to meet the owner of the dogs he nodded knowing that he didn't.

As they walked they quickly stopped as the two white dogs began barking. He watched him take out his rifle but then stopped. The barking continued but it wasn't long before a gun shot fired off killing one of the dogs instantly. They basically survived from getting caught by pure luck. He could see the look on Leonel's face and he was stiff. Eventually he pulled Dallas jacket and they began to run. When the noise was out of range and sight he watched Leonel drop and clutch his side. Instantly Dallas went over and sat him down. Pulling up his shirt he sighed at the wound. " The hospital should be close". Dallas knew the wound was taking alot out of him. He helped him on his feet before he started walking again. " Almost there".

Leonel let out a wimp and forced himself to keep walking onwards, clenching onto Dallas's shirt
he only complained when he accidentally stepped on a rock or something, but his will was
made of iron and he wasn't just going to give it up because he was wounded, soon the hospital was at sight, but
a shocking and overwhelming image made him let go off Dallas and fall to his knees, the building had
crumbled away and was on fire, around it there was an angry crowd killing each other like moths,
Leonel actually stood up this time and placed his back onto the wall, gripping on his side, the wound
was starting to get on the deepest of his nerves, he couldn't stand it so he glared at Dallas.

"Let's go back, I need to get this fucker out of me" he hissed in a complicated manner.
