OPEN SIGNUPS OUT OF CHARACTER KNAVES! - Signups & OOC

  • So many newbies lately! Here is a very important PSA about one of our most vital content policies! Read it even if you are an ancient member!
Name: Everette Fabian-Fallon
Age: 27

View attachment 259468
Role Within Company: Medic/healer/ poison supplier.

Five Words: Deceptive, Affable, theatrical, pretentious, competent

Reason For Joining:
Everette will tell anyone who will listen that she's actually the daughter of some distantly powerful noble family. If you think you saw her on the streets begging and stealing when she was a kid, no you didn't.
She actually made a pretty decent living for herself deceiving nobles into thinking she was a very well respected and well-trained healer.
Truthfully, Everette has always been better at making poisons than cures. She got greedy and if you drug and steal from enough people, they start to catch on.
Cast out from the upper echelons of society (and perhaps having more than a few people wanting her arrested) she had a change of career and very reluctantly joined the knaves.

Skills:
- Acting/Deception; Everette has been fooling people about her background for years and was something of a pro at it.

Basic medical skills; She is at least semi-competent as a medic, good in an emergency and quick treatments, although her bedside manner leaves a lot to be desired.

Knowledge to on herbs/remedies; Can make potions and ointments to help with numbing, healing, and to stave off infection.

Poisons; Everette's true love. This medic is a lot better at harming than healing. Making and using different poisons is her passion. Everette isn't likely to win a head-on battle with an experienced fighter, but she is good at covertly slashing people with a poison-soaked blade in the midst of battle.
Since we both produce & use poison I'm keen to having your character as a partner in alchemy/chemistry considering he focuses more on chemical toxins than natural he'd be interesting in learning more on the nature side from her.
That sounds like a good idea

Once we get the cast nailed down, I'll sort out relationships.
Same here. I like seeing all these varied characters, though! I imagine Crow Company will be quite the threat/headache to others.

Lurking is hard. I love all the knaves so far, can't wait to see more.

Haha I know how you feel. My wifi has been out for a week so I haven't been able to do anything.
Oh no! Wifi is life.

I don't plan on creating a character, just reading along. It won't stop me from imagining a goblin leading a lance of knee biters xD

IF we're allowed more than 3 character connections my current thoughts are as follows:
Character Connections:
1) Everette Fabian-Fallon, fellow poison maker and respective students of one another sharing knowledge (Relationship still being defined in DM's)
2) Raoul Renault, best rat, i mean gunpowder buyer and fellow firearm connoisseur.
3) Immanuel De Acutis, melee combat instructor and someone to butt heads with theologically. (Potential revision needed)
4?) Marina "La Bella", the one to drag him from the mud post attempted execution. Also someone he gladly helps with their fix at a discount out of courtesy.
5?) Lyanna, gives her chemical items for first aid in exchange for herbal ones
(List to be expanded considering I'm already speculating on 4 & 5)

However I'm also keen on potentially having a combined support Lance or company of combined lances with Raven, Everette (@MidoriEwe), and Lyanna (@peachiie) as they all handle medicine, supplies, and to an extent supportive tools for combat like poisons and gunpowder.
If so I would also think they'd have close contact with Celine (@driedstrawberries) for requisitions.

Aurum Vena (WIP)
  • northern_city_by_jjpeabody_d9b34oq-fullview.jpg

  • City Name: Aurum Vena
Form of Rule: Theocratically Arbitrated Plutocracy
    Region Number: 6
Current Leader/s: The Golden Council, a loose collection of five wealthiest factions that seem to change often, presided over by the church as a neutral arbiter. Save the church holding it's position as arbiter, no faction has held on to their seat longer than twenty years, though some factions often float in and out of power regularly. As such there are many factions in the city beyond the council. The criteria for qualifying as one of the top five is an expensive and complicated process arbitrated through audits by the church.
Geography/Layout: The city is nestled into the backbone of the lands as they've expanded into the land between three mountains on the mountain range. The city itself nestled at the base between two of them, which provide natural protection, water from the snowy peaks, and rich resources in the mountains. They have pine forests are left alone to keep nature in order as such they import wood for construction. The third mountain at the very back of the city often obscured by fog is home to many competing schools of science, magic, and more. The mountain rivers flow through the city into a lake in front of the city that feeds into the peat bogs below them. Due to the elevation of the city compared to the rest, it's likely the most easily defended from outside invasion, even with the many roads leading to it.
Key Trade/Industry: Metals, Industrial goods, Knowledge
Relationship With Other Cities: In general neutral or favorable, the factions in the city are shifting and seldom stay in power longer than a decade, the notable exception being the church which has held steadfast due to the lower class's support. As such the outside cities have better chance getting a stake in the city through trade than through war. The city imports from and exports to almost every city. Notably relying on their neighbors peat for certain forges requiring the most careful. The largest import of the city is food as the cold hard barren soil is practically hostile to the plants typically used for food.

    • While little is known of magic, the mystic schools deep on the rearmost mountain are said to know the most about it. The bottom of the mountain borders on the town where the least impressive magical research is done of which scholars may freely come and go to learn. The further up the more restricted and secretive the rituals become. A third of these schools are managed by the church of fire wanting to ensure that nothing blasphemous occurs... but rumor has it they allow certain schools to do as they please for a price.
    • The main source of the church's economic power and the reason it's the eternal arbiter of the Golden Council is due to it having exclusive rights to the mines in the region as they sell to the companies in the city and beyond. However an agreement made with the golden council that the poor must be taken care of by the Church to limit it's economic power to ensure it doesn't dominate business and cause stagnation. As such despite wealth being the primary factor of power in the city, due to the Church's influence the wotking poor of the city are housed and well fed by church owned functions. As a positive side effect the church has also acquired the service and political favor of the poor.
    • The church provides the framework of religious and moral guidance through which the Golden council are free to operate as they please leading to an interesting balance of power between the relative moral good which maintains the church's power with the low class and the ability to endlessly climb economically for the middle and upper class.
    • The Church of the Eternal Fire's central temple houses a meteorite that is still burning to this day, said to be the origin of fire for our ancestors, at least according to the church. Those who follow the church of the eternal fire are required to make a pilgrimage to the sacred site at least once, though those who die young are said to be pardoned.
    • Once Like Basalan they often encounter Dvergar Under-Republics who are equally likely to be captured or showered in gold for their technological knowledge. This has led to tense relations between the Dver and city, though the church "officially" condemns the practice of Dver kidnapping.
    • Despite being a city where almost everything is legal for a price, Rape and Murder are EXTREMELY rare due to the harsh punishments and fines levied on the perpetrators by both the Golden Council and the Church. One might evey say that relative morality is economically viable due to the policies in place.
    • The Golden Council despite the chaotic nature is very skilled at economic control and ensuring taxes are just right to balance satisfaction and profit while encouraging trade inside and out. Though this aught not be too surprising considering the vast hordes of wealth required to reach such a position.
    • The fastest rising faction of the last fifty years has been the scientific academies pushing technological advancements at a rapid pace. Because of this many great minds come to the city to further themselves. Because of this there are also many tutors in the city who will work for large groups who can pool up enough to pay for their services.
    • The Golden Council works in conjunction with the Church to set up numerous festivals year round both secular and religious.

  • WIP

  • Preface: The city is so volatile there are factions that rise to power using specific tactics, technology, or connections and make it into the golden council in a few years before crumbling down and being cannibalized by those around. Because of this there are numerous factions not listed here or condensed into groups of factions.

That would be great actually. I haven't made any relationships yet for Celine, I kinda forgot to.

Awesome! I'm eager to see this group come together and develop plans provided the others are on board. It'll be nice to have someone to learn to read properly from too.

Does this RP have a Discord Server?

Unless I've really been not paying attention, it doesn't (Like 99% certainty).

Okay apologies for the total radio silence on my end, sister was getting married last week (that's apparently a week-long process these days) and as fun as it was it also rendered me down into a bit of a walking corpse - Canadians can drink almost as well as the Scottish, it turns out. Good for them.

Anyway, I've now stared at a wall long enough to feel human again and I'm going to get back into the swing of things when it comes to Knaves. I'll work my way through character sheets tonight/tomorrow, and I really do need to get the IC thread finished up ASAP. Appreciate your patience, gang.
