Kingdom Come

The sound of the rhythmic chugging of the train was almost like a mantra. Continually saying the same thing, again and again.

Way-out-West. Way-out-West. Way-out-West.

It was a symbol of the ideas of Kingdom Come, at least how it should have been. Of a new life, of a place where a race could be measure by the work they were capable of. Of what they were willing to do. From the lowliest half-orc to the smallest halfling, it should have been that way. Unfortunately....People had other ideas.

Father Lee was correct in his surmise. Kingdom Come had degraded into what he described and it looked like no end in sight, at least not now. And in this phase, the train was a symbol of what people can do, in progress.

It had to go.

An explosion down the track was heard and the brakes were slammed down.

GM Note: Good luck.

Temerith's ears perked up and in an instant, he was on his feet as his hand fell to his gun after the train ground to a halt. At the same time, Duke and Annie, the two mutts he had brought along sprung as well, alert for any other disturbance from outside their cabin. "Sounds like we've got trouble... Anyone else want to take point on figuring out what caused that ruckus up ahead?" He looked to the others as he drew the flintlock, aimed it at the door, and kept a thumb on its hammer, "I could do it as well if you three aren't up for it."

When the subject of money came up, Goodhope had his full attention. "... Alright, but only as long as the coin keeps flowin'. Man's gotta eat." He looked around for a second and chuckled. "We're a damn cat, a shy girl who don't say much, and, well, me." The next statement had a clearly self-deprecating tone to it. "My charming, good looks, and this dingy letter opener will carry us to victory!"

"Somehow, I can already tell that we will find intellect and wisdom from either I or Miss Saige," Without a ounce of sarcasm and instead only deadpan honesty, Temerith replied as his eyes rolled. Saige seemed like an okay sort of ally, someone who knew to respect silence and could be counted on in a fight. Baird on the other hand... Note to self, keep his sword pointed at the enemy and not our way.

Saige
@BarrenThin @Ringmastaer @The Tactician

Saige didn't need to be told twice, she got up without a word as soon as she had heard the explosion, and the screeching of the train's breaks... It seemed unlikely that this was just a mere accident; that explosion was more than likely to have been set off by someone intending to halt the train, for one reason or another. In either case, Saige quickly headed off to investigate the cause of the train's sudden stop, keeping to the shadows as best as she could, trying to make the least noise posssible in the process, whoever or whatever was awaiting them couldn't be very friendly.

With Saige moving on, Temerith followed after her while also whistling low to Duke and Annie, the two guard dogs in turn following him. They needed to discover the cause of the train's sudden delay, and if need be, get the hell off and get to town to find help.

(Since Barren hasn't posted, guess I'll go ahead and make another post.)
