THE BASICS:
Character name: Tasha Alura Patterson
Nickname: Supergirl, Red.
Origin of Nickname: She wholly intends to follow in her mother's footsteps. She wants to be a hero of the world, but hasn't had a real prompting yet for such.
Birthdate: March 20 (20 years ago)
Place of Birth: Pomerene, Arizona
Ethnicity: Kryptonian, Human (Irish/Russian/Hungarian)
Religion: Atheist
Height: 5'5"
Weight: 130 lbs
Body type: Slim, muscular, very fit.
Eye color: Blue
Glasses or Vision Enhancements: She has no need for glasses (prescription), but she will wear lead lined glasses to often times help her focus. This was especially true as she was growing up, as she had a lot of trouble staying focused with all of the enhanced sensory input she encountered daily.
Skin tone: Average, not pale or tan. She has never had a tan, as her unique physiology prevents such things happening to her skin. And her body absorbs most radiation from the sun.
Face shape: Heart shaped
Prominent features: Striking eyes, hair. Other than being pretty, she really doesn't stand out.
Tattoos or distinguishing marks: A small black birthmark on the back of her right shoulder. About the side of quarter. Almost looks like an oval with a darker line through it. Was there at birth.
Casting choice: Jane Levy (http://cdn.collider.com/wp-content/uploads/jane-levy-suburgatory1.jpg )
General health: Very good, even for Kryptonian. She has never been sick, she hasn't really felt pain since she was a child. Her body, from the day she was born, has been absorbing solar radiation to empower her form. To make her highly resistant to diseases, viruses and pain in general.
Disabilities, illnesses, or weaknesses: No disabilities, no illnesses. Standard Kryptonian Earthling weaknesses. Kryptonite (in all its forms), reliance on solar energy (while her body has been storing radiation for years, it is conceivable she could lose her powers if out of the sun for a prolonged period of time. 2 days or so), Magic (she can't be destroyed by magic unless it's of a semi-divine or divine source, but she can be hurt and weakened by magic, magic can also have unexpected effects on her), lead.
Fashion and style
Special jewelry: She wears a pendant given to her by her mother. It was crafted by Alura (Kara's mother) from Kryptonian alloys. The pendant hangs on a silver chain, the pendant itself a small gold disc (about the size of a quarter) with what looks like a small L on it and a star on the right. Her hair is usually always tied back with red hair clips.
Hair color: Strawberry blond
Hairstyle: Tasha's hair is long, going to about the middle of her back. She usually always has it pulled back into thick pigtails, held in place by red hair clips.
Grooming: She stays very neatly trimmed, always, using techniques shown to her by her mother. She now has in her possession a razor fashioned by Kal-el used specifically for shaving.
Additional information: Her current powers. While she has the potential of a vast array of powers (as seems standard with Kryptonians under the yellow sun), she at this moment has access only to a handful of those powers. They are:
Yellow Sun Absorption
Limited flight (she hasn't quite got the hang of this one)
Extreme durability
Extreme Strength
Extreme Speed
Accelerated Healing
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Languages spoken: English, Spanish, Kryptonian
Accent or dialect: None, really.
Vocabulary/reading level: She did graduate high school, but wasn't a stand out by any means. In fact she didn't actually do well at all in school. She was always to distracted. Often her teachers would say that if she applied herself, she could be at the top of her class.
Voice tone: Mezzo-soprano. Often not loud, usually medium tones. Unless she's excited, then she gets louder.
Favorite phrases: "Fiddlesticks!" "oi oi oi" "Bene!"
Do they curse: Tries not to, but slips occasionally.
Demeanor: Tasha feels she has a reputation to keep, especially when she puts on the red and blues. She tries to hold herself in an honorable way, as if she's some kind of veteran. Experienced and wise. But.. she's not. At the end of the day she's a young, excitable girl. Who has very little fighting experience and no experience fighting major 'villains'. And sometimes that inexperience and attitude shows through her want to be a more proper 'role model'.
Mannerisms: She can sometimes be.. fidgety. Sometimes she has trouble keeping herself still. The fact she has the potential to be as great a hero as her mother was, as Superman was, is something that's in her heart almost 24 hours a day. This will be especially true when she is first setting out. She can often be very excitable, but she still tries to hold herself in a respectable manner. Sometimes after she does something dumb.. she realizes she did something dumb and regrets it. So more and more she's trying to be mindful of how she carries herself.
Gestures: She uses her hands a lot to 'talk'. Motioning sometimes erratically when she feels she needs to make a point, or to emphasize the subject of whatever she is saying. Again, she can be very animated.
Habitual behaviors: She scratches her cheek a lot, especially when she is indecisive. She had a bad habit of biting her nails, too. When she is lost in thought or very frustrated, she'll run her hands through her hair or fluff her hair or something along those lines. Most of these are just expressions of her impatience. Usually impatience with herself.
Posture: She knows eyes are on her, especially when she wears her uniform. So she tries to carry herself in that proper manner, befitting of her legacy. But once more.. she's a young and excitable girl. And being proper, respectable and honorable don't always win through for her.
PROFESSIONAL INFO:
Current occupation: Former high school student (Benson High School in Benson, Arizona). Former waitress and greeter at the Bat Cave Café in Benson, Arizona. Currently training to be a superheroine. She will also have to take on odd jobs or a part time job to pay her way.
Level of job satisfaction: Immensely high (superheroine). When she worked as a waitress, she didn't get a lot of money but she did enjoy it.
Years at current occupation: 2.5 (waitress), 0 (superheroine)
Income: All she makes is the money she has been saving from working at the café. It isn't a whole lot, but enough to exist on.
Professional skills: Very good waitress, often not having to write down orders thanks to her enhanced memory. She also become a good short order cook and greeter. She knows how to work many restaurant machines (washers, ovens, disinfecting appliances). She is also skilled in farm life. She is an accomplished equestrian, can perform most basic farm tasks (animal husbandry, basic repair of farm equipment, repair of property, raising crops and plants).
Combat skills: She knows the basics of fighting, and fighting as a powered being. There's not a lot of finesse to her 'fighting style', it's all things she has tried to learn from her mother. It hasn't ever been applied in a real world and genuinely dangerous situation. If she does well in a fight, to start, it will be because of her physiology, not her skill.
LIVING CONDITIONS:
Place of residence: Dragoon Mountain Ranch (Pomerene, Arizona)
Type of residence: Horse farm and ranch
Surrounding area: Open farmland and ranchland. It sits near the base of the Dragoon Mountains. Very open space, and perfect for her to learn to use her abilities without prying eyes.
Describe residence: A large house at the front of the property where they actually live. There are 5 barns of good size scattered throughout the property. 2 are horse barns and 3 are for farm machine storage and storage of supplies for crops. Though not all of the space in the barns are used. The area is green, with the Dragoon Mountains nearby. Outlying of the property is covered with scattered forests, especially as you head in the direction of the mountains.
Who do they live with: Mother (Kara Zor-El Patterson) and father (Michael Patterson)
Pets: She has a horse of her own that she has raised since it was a calf, the horse's name is Pegasus. He is an American Saddlebred. She had 2 cats, Smokey and Snowball (both deceased) and currently has a dog (Rottweiler) named Tazz (Tazziford Von Suede Patterson)
Overall quality of living conditions: Very high, her room is very organized. And so is much of the house thanks to her.. and the barns.. and the yard.. she likes to organize things.
Home décor: It's a ranch, so the home reflects that. It's a country style for the most part, with some rooms that are more contemporary. Tasha's room is filled with trinkets and little statues, mostly of video game, anime or movie origin. She loves collecting clocks, also. She has a bookshelf filled with manga (of differing titles), and she also has plushies in her room.
Important features of home: Isolation
Type of vehicle: N/A
Age of vehicle: N/A
Defining characteristics of vehicle: It doesn't exist
Quality of vehicle: N/A

Additional information: Her father has a Ford F-150, used mostly around the farm. She is sometimes allowed to drive it, but never on roads. Her mother has her own car, a Buick Verano, but Tasha isn't allowed to drive it either. She doesn't have a driver's license, and usually gets a ride from her parents or friends. Or.. she rides her horse to local places. Or.. flies. Discretely, of course.

Describe the quality of relationship with any significant family members: Idolizes her mother and her accomplishments. She almost feels the same about her father. In her eyes, they are on the same level as heroes. She is on very good terms with them both, though her father is more the disciplinarian. Her mother wants her to go out and find her own destiny, but her father would be more than happy for her to stay at home with them forever, where it's nice and safe for her.
Extended family: Uncle (Jacob Philip Patterson)
Friends: Anna, Amy, Brooke, Cameron, Karissa, Katey
Best Friend: Chris. Met in high school. He's something of a nerd, like she is. But he is also on the Benson High School soccer team (Go Bobcats!). He lives in Benson proper. He is the only one that knows about her powers, and what she is.
Describe relationship with friend(s): She loves her friends, even if she has to lie to them most of the time. She wants to tell them all that she has powers, that she's going to be this great hero. But now all she can do is get them discounts at the café she worked at. She loves going out with them, even if she doesn't do it as often as she wants to.
How does the character relate to:
Spouse: N/A
Lover: N/A
Past lovers/spouses: She has only had sex once, with a boy named Kirk. There was nothing romantic about it, really. And afterwards, she and Kirk rarely talked. Which kind of broke her heart. That was almost 4 years ago. She isn't on talking terms with him right now.
Children: N/A
Friends: She loves all of her friends, she hangs out with them as much as she can. But she is especially close to Amy and Chris. Amy is the closest thing she has to a neighbor, they grew up together essentially. While Amy is more into the intellectual pursuits (she wants to be a doctor), she still sees Tasha as her close friend also.
Employer: Her manager at the café is named Mateo. He sees Tasha as a very good worker, determined to do what is right. And this is something she actually learned from Mateo. He has been sort of a mentor to her, even if she is only a waitress essentially. He would often tell her "Management is doing things right, leadership is doing the right things.", something that has always stuck with Tasha. Mateo was prepared to make Tasha a manager, but that won't be able to happen now.
Underlings: N/A
Minions: N/A
Pets: She loves her Pegasus! It's as plain as that. She spends a lot of free time in the barn with him, or taking him out to run in the country. In fact, he has helped her learn to fly slowly. She has been trying to keep up with him while he's in full gallop.
Strangers: She is sometimes to trusting of people. Sometimes she thinks that everyone is always telling the truth to her and always doing their best. Because she is.
Opposite sex: She's always looking for a man, really. She would love to be in a relationship. A real romance, not just sex.
Same sex: She can often get jealous of other girls. She feels like she isn't as pretty or desirable as they are. She is, in fact, very self conscious.
Family members: She always tries to do her best for her family, helping whenever she possibly can.
Competitors: She doesn't like competition. Not with other people. It will bring out the worst in Tasha. Sour feelings, jealousy and paranoia.
Authority: Unless it's an authority that has earned her respect, she won't think much of them. Unfortunately people have to prove to her that they are worth her respect. This is something she's trying to break herself of, knowing that one day she's going to have to be more trusting of those in charge around her. That's how the world works.
Enemies: She doesn't have any major enemies at the moment, save for the typical high school drama scenes she sometimes finds herself in. If you're her true enemy, she has trouble showing any sort of mercy or understanding.
CHARACTER PERSONALITY AND PSYCHOLOGY:
Any psychological issues or illnesses: None really. Living on the farm has been good for her psychologically. Most of her problems are more emotional in nature.
Meyers Briggs Personality Type: ESTJ Personality ("The Executive") ESTJs are representatives of tradition and order, utilizing their understanding of what is right, wrong and socially acceptable to bring families and communities together. Embracing the values of honesty, dedication and dignity, people with the ESTJ personality type are valued for their clear advice and guidance, and they happily lead the way on difficult paths. Taking pride in bringing people together, ESTJs often take on roles as community organizers, working hard to bring everyone together in celebration of cherished local events, or in defense of the traditional values that hold families and communities together.
What do they love: Being what she is, having her abilities.
What is their passion: Being a true hero, as her parents before her.
What do they hate: Indecisive people. Being bothered by dumb questions. Someone not being up front with her (people who are two faced). Laziness. People that speak down to her. People who think she is shirking her duties. People who are impatient with her. People who take advantage of others, especially those 'weaker' than themselves.
What would they die for: Her family, her closest friends. She hasn't been exposed to a lot yet, so that list will expand.
What do they value: Those she loves more than anything else.
Secret loves: She's pretty open about things she loves, she's not very ashamed of any of it. So she doesn't see the need to have a secret love. Though it could be baking, since she doesn't get the chance to do a lot of it.
Sexual behavior: She is straight, but she isn't opposed to experimentation of course. Sexually she is very open to most things, save for the most extreme (rape, gore, etc., etc.)
Personal philosophies:
Politics: She feels like every politician is only out for themselves and gaining more power. And everything they do or say lend themselves to such a goal. She doesn't follow politics a lot for this reason. She will sometimes see the headlines, but that's about it. She also hates the fact people blame each other or badmouth each other based solely on the party they belong to.
Spirituality: She has never been especially spiritual, at this moment she considers herself an atheist. Her father is very religious, and has tried to get Tasha to be also. But Tasha hasn't responded well to those attempts. She will even go with her parents to church, but only to make them happy.
Prejudices: She is a very open minded person.. considering she's half alien. She sometimes will come to a conclusion about someone based on very little, but that is rare. She believes there is room on this little world for everyone.
Greatest strength: Her passion. When she sets her mind to something, she will often do whatever it is she has to in order to follow through. This sort of work ethic was borne in her from an early age, consider what her parents were. And working on a farm didn't hurt. She isn't afraid to do whatever she has to in order to get the job done, and one right.
Greatest weakness or flaw: Her emotions, specifically 'negative' emotions. These can often times cripple her, really. While she doesn't suffer from clinical depression or anything of the sort, she can be derailed if something happens that effects her emotionally. And sometimes this can be as simple as things not going right for her. She can go from happy to angry at the drop of a hat. And as passionate as she is when things go well, she is just as passionate when she is upset and angry.
Their favorite attribute: Being half alien and having the powers that come with it!
Least favorite attribute: She knows her attitude is poor sometimes, and she often speaks with her heart and not her head and she regrets it immediately.
Biggest secret: She feels like she isn't worthy of what she's been given, in regards to her legacy and powers. She feels like she has a lot to live up to, considering her second cousin was/is one of the greatest heroes in history. No pressure.
Biggest fear: Losing her powers, not being able to help
Most likeable trait: She can be very charming and friendly when she wants to be. Often she wants to be friends with everyone, perhaps secretly she needs to be liked by others.
Least likeable trait: Her bad attitude
How are they perceived by others: Most of her friends see her as just an average girl who probably won't ever make it out of their county. Her parents see the potential she has, and wants her to live up to it.
Proudest accomplishment: When she learned to fly. Even if she's not great at it yet.
Other accomplishments: Won at the county spelling bee 2 years in a row.
Biggest regret: Not being a great hero like her parents or Superman.
Most embarrassing moment: Someone took a picture of her in the shower at school and posted it on a local website. It was taken down, but no one ever found out who actually posted it.
Personality quirks: Can go from good to bad in a second. Her parents think she might be border OCD. Sometimes in her mind, she's pretending to be a character. She is most guilty of doing this with the Sailor Senshi.
Would they like to change anything about themselves: Be stronger, be the hero she thinks she needs to be. She also thinks she needs to be prettier.
Short term or long term goals: Long term is the same story, being as great as her mother was. As her mother is. She also wants to see the world, since she's never been much out of the state. Short term, she's more interested in mastering her powers. She doesn't know how much she'll be able to do in regards to how strong she might get, but she wants to do the best with what she has to work with.
Obstacles: And again, her emotions. She can sometimes become frazzled emotionally, and that will put limits on some of her powers. Until she can learn to focus her emotions in a positive way, this will continue to plague her.
Heroes or role models: Her parents, of course. One was a superheroine, the other a firefighter. She doesn't admire her mother because of her powers, she admires her resolve. The same with her father. She often considers him the bravest man there is. He has no powers or anything, and is willing to run into a burning building and risk his life for others. And that was his job. She also admires Superman, but that is fairly universal. She can't deny what he stood for, what he did for his adopted world.
Negative role models: Uncle Jacob. Her father's brother, who visits often, is something of a hustler and scam artist. He has shown Tasha some of the more seedy sides of life. He spends most of his time trying to get people's money, or losing money gambling. He is really the antithesis of her father.
Biggest life influence: Has to be her mother. Ever since she realized who Kara was, and that she might have the same powers as she does. It's Kara that helped her through the hardships of growing up.. very.. different. Tasha's powers started to manifest when she was around 5, so from that point on it was something of a struggle for her. And her mother was with her every step of the way. Her mother helped her to learn control (Tasha demolished many of her toys.. and farm equipment.. accidentally), and she helped her to fly.

PAST HISTORY:
Hometown: Pomerene, Arizona
Past relationships: Has only had 1 boyfriend.
First love: Kirk. He was Chris' best friend, and also on the soccer team with him. Kirk and Tasha met while Tasha was watching the soccer team practice. He was charming, charismatic and very handsome. Tasha almost immediately fell in love. She went to every practice for 3 weeks straight, just to see Kirk. Oh and to cheer Chris on too, or whatever. And after that time, Kirk asked her to go out with him to a movie. They went to see a science fiction movie, though Tasha doesn't actually remember the movie. She remembers just being there with him. They shared popcorn. He bought her little gifts all of the time, his family is fairly wealthy. Doesn't hurt. They dated for perhaps a month and a half.. and then..
First sexual experience: Kirk started to get more bold. He had always been flirty with her, an 'accidental' brush against, his hand on hers and the like. But then he started to do a bit more, putting his arm around her waist, rubbing her back, running his hand through her hair. Yeah basically breaking her down. And Tasha didn't mind in the least. She didn't want to see to forward, she didn't want to be seen as a whore. So his advances were welcome. It was raining that night, and she had gotten stuck at his house without a ride. His parents were on vacation, so they had full rein of the home. It happened quickly, Kirk making his move. It started with little kisses as they sat on the couch together watching Netflix, and then it became very passionate very quickly. Before she knew it Kirk was on top of her, unbuttoning her shirt. He started groping her, feeling her all over. And Tasha was lost in the pleasure. Something in the back of her mind told her to slow things down, but she didn't listen to that little voice. In all reality she wanted this as much as he did. They had sex right there on the couch that rainy night, though Kirk had trouble at first. She is half Kryptonian, after all. And like the build up, it was over very quickly. He did at least have sense of mind to use a condom. They both fell asleep then on the couch.
Major childhood events:
Best memory: Flying while being carried by her mother.
Worst memory: When she was 10, she actually found a dead body in a creek on their property. His name was Julio, and he was in the fourth grade with her. He had apparently slipped on rocks up the creek and his body was carried down. His head was pretty much split open from the fall. It was very traumatic for little Tasha.
Saddest memory: She and her grandmother (on her father's side) were very close. In the last few months of her life, the woman suffered from Alzheimer's and dementia. Tasha loved her grandmother very much, she spent a lot of time with her in her younger years (Gramma was the babysitter). And it broke her heart to see her just degrade so quickly. She went from an older woman with a sharp mind to not even recognizing Tasha, to not being able to go to the bathroom by herself. Tasha cried for almost 3 days when she finally passed.
Quality of childhood: Very good. She never wanted for anything, but was still taught the value of hard work. Of doing the right thing. She had very loving parents, a very loving family and good friends around her. And a horse. Yeah she was the kid that got a pony for her birthday.
Educational experience/level: High school graduate, not exactly at the top of her class. In high school she was something of a slacker, but that changed after graduation. One of her major problems was that she was bored in school, and never did homework. That caused issues. She usually did just enough to get a passing grade.
Significant school experiences: She won the spelling bee 2 years in a row in middle school. She still has the little ribbons given to her. Her school experiences mostly revolved around enjoying herself and socializing. She wasn't part of any clubs, nor did she join any of the sports teams. School was more of an obstacle to her, she felt like she had better things to do. Like learning to use her powers, training.
Anything un-skilled, needs work: Basically all of her powers, she needs more experience in the field. That's the major thing of her life right now. She can't fly well, she doesn't know just how strong she is, she doesn't know the full scope of her powers yet.
Hobbies: Playing video games. Listening to music. Riding horses. Sketching (she says it's a hobby, and at one time she wasn't bad, but she hasn't done it for years). Reading. Geocaching.
Major illnesses, accidents or traumas: Due to her physiology, she has never had a major illness or injury, or physical trauma. She got very sick once when she was 2, and that was about the last time she hurt herself (fell out of a chair onto a hard surface). Since then, she hasn't felt real pain.
Police record/criminal record: N/A. She's a good girl.
DAILY LIFE:
Morning routine: She always wakes up earlier than she would like. Perhaps a habit built into her from her father getting up before dawn. First thing she'll do is brush her teeth, and then arrange her bathroom counter so it's neat. Make sure there are no streaks on the mirror. She'll then head downstairs and get a protein shake, and then back to her room. Being as quiet as possible. She'll then make her bed and turn on the local news. She half watches it as she gets herself ready for her day. She'll then get a shower, and then get herself all ready. Now depending on what's on the agenda, she'll do things a little differently. A day of adventuring/play/training, she gets her yoga pants (and shorts over them) and her tank top and she's ready. Going out or spending the day with people, she'll put on makeup and more suitable clothing. If she's going to work, she'll get her uniform on, tie her hair back into pigtails and head out. Of course before she leaves she needs to make sure her room is in order. Everything in it's place and a place for everything.
Afternoon routine: She doesn't really have a set afternoon routine. She'll have lunch and snacks just whenever she thinks about it, but that's about it.
Evening routine: When she comes home, she immediately changes her clothes. She'll usually either change into her Simpsons jammies, her sock monkey jammies or her penguin jammies. She'll put on a random t-shirt usually, something cool. Some anime or pop culture kind of shirt. That done, she gets an evening snack. Popcorn or crackers is a common choice. And then it's dinner, but she usually eats in her room. Despite the fact her parents would love to have a normal meal with her. The rest of her night is spent perhaps playing games or chatting with her friends, or doing research. Usually about her powers, or history. She does enjoy reading about the exploits of those heroes that came before her.
Sleep habits: Unless she has somewhere specific to be at a specific time, she usually just goes to bed when she's to tired to stay awake any longer. But if she, as example, has to be at work in the morning, she'll plan it so when she goes to bed she'll be getting about 8 hours sleep. But it usually ends up being 7. She dreams a lot when she sleeps, and sometimes tends to be restless. She always sleeps in pajamas, but during the hotter months, it's usually just panties or boxers and a tank top. Once her mind wakes up, no matter how hard she tries, she can't go back to sleep. Which bugs her. When she wakes up, she's up. She's usually not sluggish or anything, she's ready to go.

BACKSTORY:
Tasha Alura Patterson was born in Benson Hospital (Pomerene, Arizona) on March 20th, 20 years ago. Her parents, Kara and Michael, had only in recent years moved to Arizona from Oceanville. Tasha was their first (and only, it turns out) child, and a very welcome addition to their family. Her birth was, however, troubled. Little Tasha did have to be put into an intensive care unit almost immediately. She had trouble breathing when first she was born, it was as if her lungs were simply to weak to expand. After a week of tests and observation, the doctors felt she was finally strong enough to be taken off of the life support system. And a few days later, she was allowed to be taken home with her grateful parents.
They lived on a 108 acre farm and ranch, mostly raising horses and small myriad of crops, a farm that had been in the Patterson family for many years. From the moment she was brought into their home, Tasha was the center of their universe. Michael and Kara knew there was a possibility that Tasha would be.. different.. than other girls. Not just the usual way all parents feel about their children.. but the fact Tasha was half Kryptonian. Kara had lead life as Supergirl, a strange visitor from another planet. So from the first, they kept careful watch on Tasha. Kara, of course, knew what her potential could be. But what she didn't know was just how early, or late, her powers could manifest. Kara had come to Earth when she was preteen, and Tasha was a native Earthling. For all they knew the infant could start hefting cars and flying to the moon by the time she was 3 (she didn't, of course). On the flip side, it could turn out her Human half could win out. And she would grow up a normal little girl, well normal in the respect she wouldn't have enhanced abilities.
As it turns out, Tasha was indeed her mother's daughter. Her young body had started to absorb the empowering rays of her native planet's sun from the very first day she was first exposed to it. Perhaps out of instinct or intent, Kara made sure to spend as much time outside with her daughter. When Tasha was around 5 she started to exhibit her true abilities. The first inkling was innocent enough. She was playing with her toy bowling set in their living room, and her ball rolled under the couch. Without thinking she walked over to the couch, put her hand under its edge, and lifted it right up. Much to her father's horror since he was sitting on the couch. Tasha grabbed her ball as she held the end of the couch over her head, and then dropped it as she stepped out of the way. Michael and Kara were astonished at the feat, and knew it was a herald of the potential held within her little body. Kara was excited, thrilled, at this prospect. Her father.. not so much. He had given Kara much leeway in regards to raising their daughter in respects to her Kryptonian heritage. Such little things as letting her play with blocks that had English letters and Kryptonian letters on them, but in the back of his mind he truly felt she would never gain the powers her mother had. Perhaps it was wishful thinking on his part, a father's want for his little princess to never be put into danger. Another part of his reasoning.. he had seen to many people lose their children in his line of work, he had found far too many bodies in burnt out rubble. But whether or not he wanted it, there was no denying Tasha was to be special, as her mother before her.
When she first exhibited that feat of power, a myriad of problems sprung up. She was to start school later that year.. she was very excited to become Bobcat Cub (the local primary school). But they had to impress upon her the importance of not standing out in the wrong ways. Like.. lifting cars and such. That's usually frowned upon in kindergarten. They had the spring and summer to figure things out, as this incident was in January of that year. And in that time, it was Kara mostly that would have little talks with Tasha, explaining why she was so different than the other little girls, and why she had to keep such things just to her family. Kara and Michael weren't 100% as to what would happen if the public found out there was a superpowered toddler in their local primary school… but it probably wouldn't be a parade. It was Michael's suggestion that they make it like a game. A game Tasha could play whenever she was away from her parents. They would tell her to pretend she's a princess.. and she had special abilities that others didn't have, and it had to be kept a secret. And Tasha being Tahsa.. immediately equated that to her being the Moon Princess… she was the new Sailor Moon. Kara loved Tasha's ingenuity.. and Michael would just roll his eyes.. but whatever they had to say to have her be discrete. She wants to be Sailor Moon.. she'll be Sailor Moon. In disguise, of course. Tasha LOVED this new game.. and she embraced it wholeheartedly. Kara even made her a Moon Stick sceptor to keep hidden in her Minnie Mouse backpack. This ill-conceived and risky plan.. actually worked.
And while Tasha would pretend to be something when out in public, her mother and father made it clear she really was special, different. Kara made her understand who she was in the years before her birth. She was a superheroine. She was an alien. It took time for all of that to sink in with Tasha, it's kind of far-fetched. Even for a child. And over the next few years, Kara would open up more about her life, about what she had done and what she was capable of. Stories of her life became the stuff of sleepytime stories for Tasha.
The world's greatest hero, Tasha's second cousin
A man with a magic ring that could make anything out of thin air
A woman with the wings of an eagle and the heart of a lion
The princess that left her land to defend the Earth as a whole
The caped knight that protected his world from the shadows
The man that was just as much machine as flesh
Her friend that could move faster than the eye could see
A man that never missed with an arrow
One of her best friends, the redhead that fought villains mostly by outthinking them
Kara had stories enough to last years. And they did. The legacy of justice that Kara was witness to became the thing that Tasha grew up hearing all about. And in time, this would be a major influence on her life.
And so over time she would be shown how to best use the powers she had found herself with. She more and more came to understand how important it could be for her to master these powers. She never knew Superman, she never knew her mother when she was a superheroine, she didn't know any other of the 'heroes' her mother would speak of.. but she knew that one day she could be the one that would have to step up to help the world. She started to see it as her responsibility. From her mother she would learn to use her abilities for the good of the world, she would learn how to be a Kryptonian superheroine, and from her father she learned how to be a Human hero. And while it was true that one day she might be asked to take up the mantle of her heritage…she was still a girl with responsibilities. Of the non world-ending kind.
She didn't do well in school at all. She never did. Year after year she seemed to do just enough to get by, to get that barely passing grade. And that was it. She wasn't dumb, by any stretch of the imagination. She simply didn't want to apply herself. She would be lax with homework, she wouldn't do her best with any of her assignments. She felt.. bored.. often times with school. And often times, she merely thought.. I can fly to the moon and back, why do I need to learn about equations? Unfortunately she did need equations, and other things she had to learn in school. Unfortunately she couldn't actually fly to the moon and back.
And again, she had responsibilities. Her parents, as much as they loved and treasured her, would not give her life on a silver platter. She had to get a job. In the latter years of high school, she did exactly that. She found a part time job at a very popular café not terribly far from her school, the Bat Cave Café. When Kara found out such a place existed, she laughed and laughed and laughed. And now here was Tasha working there. She started as just a waitress, but eventually she learned many different roles at the café. After graduation from high school, she would take a full time position at the café. She could work in any of the areas… greeter, waitress, line cook, cleaning crew.. no task was to difficult, or below her. While in school she didn't apply herself.. when she got a fulltime job she put all she had into it. She wanted to make those around her proud. To this day no one knows why the sudden switch was turned on, not even Tasha. But her parents were relieved that switch was thrown.
And that brings us closer to the present. Tasha had expressed to her manager, Mateo, that she was thinking about moving onto bigger and better things. That was Tasha setting it up so she could leave the job and perhaps, at last, put on a crime fighting costume and finally be able to use her powers for the good of the world. She had never even been out of the state of Arizona, she had lead such a sheltered life. But she had read about all of the wonderful places she could be.. the internet brought them all to her doorstep. And now a yearning was building in her heart. Her parents had recognized this in their daughter for the passed few months. Her mother is excited by the prospect, her father not so much.
And so Tasha Alura Patterson finds herself at a crossroads in her life. She feels pressure from all sides.. be a hero, don't be a hero, live a normal life, be a leader in the community (she did have the potential).. and it will be up to Tasha to make the final decision. She just needs a push…
