  Ariela -- The Lioness of God. A small but proud nation of beauty, extravagance, and strength. Hidden behind the scarlet curtains of its glorified Summer Palace lies a history of blood contracts, countless assassinations plots, and perhaps the most dangerous Grand Court in the land of Ellerim.
  
  The nation seems to always be in a state of cold civil war, with different parties always vying to sit their representative on the Solstice Throne and spies/murderers are just as common to culture as wine.
  
  Its capitol city, Andalusia, is a cultural and revolutionary marvel where typical means of travel such as carts on cobblestone paths are cast away in favor of boats and waterways. The sea spreads throughout the city in sprawling canals, and the majority of Ariela's population is found within the grand cityscape.
  
  Outside of Andalusia are various farmer villages scattered about the green countryside. Wineries and vineyards are also unsurprisingly common out in the plains and Ariela's noble houses are known to build expansive estates to retreat to during winter out of the city as well.​

  The religious in Ariela believe in sole god figure being the creator of the universe. They believe they are favored by god due to the beauty and success of their homeland but most tend to happily ignore the fact that everything in the nation has been built on the blood and bones of others.​

  Just because their purpose is prevalently military, it does not mean that Ariela's Chevaliers are exempt from the extravagance of their nation. The cavaliers can be spotted from miles away with their large red feather plumed helmets and shining silver armor.
  
  But do not let their appearance fool you into thinking they are not well trained. Ariela is a small nation that has managed to not only survive but thrive amongst giants. This would not have been possible if their fighting force was capable of repelling larger threats. The way of a Chevalier is one of rigorous disciple and constant refinement – they are trained to be men of character and of skill.
  
  The Cavaliers are held to high standards and is perhaps the only way someone from a lower class can transcend upwards. Particularly skilled Cavaliers are celebrated and given positions of honor once retiring and arranged marriages between the fine young army men and noblewomen both old and young alike are quite common.​

  Three quarters of the year the weather in Ariela remains more or less the same. The port city always remain in a state of warmth that would be uncomfortable if it wasn't so windy. The heat of the sun contrasts well with the cool water all about the city and the wind is pivotal in moving faster through the canals.
  
  During winter both aspects of Ariela's climate take a noticeable drop and those who can afford it tend to retire to the countryside during these slower times.​

While it seemed like the young man was ignoring the gravity of the situation with the way he chuckled afterward, he knew in the back of his head that she was right. He gave her a nod, knowing that that alone was enough to get that message across

He turned away from her at the first mentioning of Joseph's jibblets and let himself dip back into pretending they currently weren't heading to an actual life or death situation. The baseball extraordinaire just rolled his eyes at his good friend.

"Are you uh sure about that bud?" Brady laughed heartily, doing his best to swipe off the muffin crumbs that had taken the place of his fry bits. His tone more amused than annoyed, he shoved Joseph playfully. "I'd say there's a good portion of that muffin right here. On me."

But muffins more or less dropped from priority as things began to heat up between some of his other classmates. Brady hadn't been paying attention to them really, too many negative vibes for his liking personally, but whatever was wrong was becoming hard to ignore. He was tempted to attempt at pacifying the situation but then the Professor beat him to it. Brady just sat back and sighed toward no one in particular. "It always boils down to a dick measuring contest with everyone. Some of these people need to chill."

He didn't expect a suggestion and he especially didn't expect one from Darren. In the five months Miles had spent at Harkwell what interactions he had shared with the older student were negligible at best. But then the new kid remembered the other young man was a telepath.

If there was one thing that Claudia was sure of while she observed the hangar of students, it was that she still had plenty of work to do. These kids were far from ready for the scrutiny of the public eye.

And seeing as how this mission involved not one but three villains that's exactly where they were going to end up. She shuddered at the possible headlines.

If she had her way, she would've handled this on her own. Her glory days of heroing around were over though. She was a professor now and all she could do was hope that the paparazzi's pictures come out well. Oh and hopefully nobody will die in the process of it all too... not that I'd ever allow that of course.

Her eyes shifted silently towards Gaige. Hmph. When it comes to the students at least. It was too bad that Jean had access to the yearbook pictures when 'Snowangel' was 'Slush Pile'. Were it not for that Claudia would've fought harder when the head mistress first considered hiring Gaige, but what Claudia saw as a PR disaster, Harkwell saw a PR opportunity. Of course the press would eat up a story about a reformed villain teaching today's heroic youth.

She stood up, unimpressed by the Captain's address and unappreciative about the fact he answered a question addressed to her. Her white heels clicked against the floor as she, with great distaste, stood by his side.

"As you all know the professors won't intervene unless absolutely necessary. Don't get yourself killed and do try and remember last week's lessons on public appearance. It's very likely this mission will be covered by the media." She explained with a juxtaposing professionalism. Her tone shifted as she gestured warmly towards Ryan. Leonardo is a great compromise between what Arelians say is their example citizen and what an an actual citzien of Ariela looks like. He holds himself with the confidence, posture, and manners of what's expected in court all the while representing the common folk in his olive colored skin and dark hair color.

His body is muscular and well maintained. His appearance is defined by by his broad shoulders and sturdy arms and he is often cited as an example soldier to those still in training to join the Order of Lions.

Leonardo Michael Genovese from the moment he was born was expected to be the ideal son, soldier, and man.

While he certainly put up a respectable effort, he always found himself never quite good enough. Even though he is well spoken, socially aware, and undeniably confident his parents found him too passionate, too easily invested and too much of a dreamer to be their perfect son.They shunned his hopes for things such as true love and an Arielan court not dictated by lies and assassins.

His thinking was too revolutionary and that was a danger to their reputation, so he was corrected. Forcefully. But no matter how hard they tried they couldn't change him completely. Jaded compared to his younger self, but just as passionate, he focuses on the betterment of Ariela above all else.

According to the official record, Charlie Caine is a cherished and decorated navy seal who went MIA shortly after marrying his childhood sweetheart Nerissa Richards nearly ten years ago. His family life was somewhat complicated, having only a single father and an older brother to watch over him. He did well enough in school and was rumored to be a candidate for a football scholarship before following in the two other men's footsteps and enlisting.

His military career was clean, promising but ultimately similar to his situation with football. Just a year after his brother sudden disappearance, Charlie also went missing in action. At the time he was being considered for a SEAL Team Six designation and his newly wed wife was diagnosed with breast cancer.

It was a tragic series of events that ultimately received mainstream media coverage. A donation fund named after the Caine sons was created and through various generous heartfelt donations Nerissa managed to receive proper treatment. To this day she remains, wondering what ever happened to her golden boy.

PERSONALITY ||
Jaded, roguish but firm in his own beliefs. Charlie is all these things and more. When he was younger he was cheekier and quite the gambler but age and events alike have worn on him. Still, he managed to retain a sass that jumps between charming and frustrating all the same. Currently he has little to no meaningful relationships--a string of abandoned lovers being the most prominent of the few traceable connections he has. Despite being quite the charmer, Charlie keeps his circle small because that's the safest choice. His self control is incredible but when the mutations kick in it becomes dangerously difficult for him to control his impulses. He loves his whiskey and is always smoking to dull out his heightened sense of smell.​

Most of what's known of Celina has been lost to the times, much like her fellow project escapee Caine. She was the only daughter of four children and grew up somewhere in Arizona with two parents.

She was also a promising army prospect before her sudden disappearance but she didn't quite net the same amount of attention as the Caine brothers, instead like many other veterans she ended up somewhat forgotten among the crowd.

PERSONALITY ||
Tough, hard to approach and sometimes down right coldblooded it's suggested that Celina's mutation also affected her personality seeing as all accounts described her differently before entering the White Room. She looks out for what's best for herself and insists on self preservation taking precedence over everything.

With that said she isn't completely heartless, as times have shown she finds it hard to just sit back and watch someone die. Still, she'd much rather use her powers to benefit herself rather than save others.​

Personality: Alistair is a witty man with a deep love for repartee and challenge. His charm teeters between infuriating and attractive all the same as the mysterious thief is a bit of a tit (but at least he knows it). Alistair is mainly driven by emotion and intuition but he knows how to keep a cool head. His tongue is quick and as unforgiving as it is honest...but one wouldn't be able to operate in his line of work if they didn't know how to up the charm when needed.

Very Brief Background: Very little is publicly known about Alistair from the time when he wasn't...well, Alistair. His skills and knowledge regarding shady affairs is foreboding enough and quite telling of the kind of life he lived before he became a wandering thief however.

With that said he isn't outright secretive--Alistair is always willing to share a good story from his past if it's suited for the situation. He does however keep things such as identities and locations vague. At some point he found himself captured by ______ knights (though a wandering rumor says he did it on purpose) and offered freedom in exchange for his expertise.

He's used to stealing gold, not princesses but still...he prefer some challenging quest over the hangman's noose any day.

Personality: Ophelia is a polite, refined, and agreeable woman of her age and status. She carries a blasé indifference to almost everything and the most intense emotions like love, hate, joy, and sadness seem to hardly inhabit her person at all. She is a rational, long-range thinker, who would make a very suitable wife in the Kingdom of ___ given her position and manners, had it not been for her ill-omened blonde hair. She's persuasive and anticipative, but this is often tainted by a mindset of being slightly disloyal, as well.

Very Brief Background: Like all of her siblings, Princess Ophelia has led her life very much in the public eye as one of the King's daughter. She is, and always was, a standout among her siblings with her stark golden hair and thus is the only daughter not to have received a great deal of proposals for marriage, as many deem the blondeness of her hair as an premonition of an ill-fate. This seems to affect her little and she has continued her life with a moderate education in singing, dancing, literature, and sewing.

Raised from infancy as a daughter of the king, she (or anyone else) has no reason to suspect that she was actually born a child of the King of ___, who was slaughtered in a deviant scheme and his child kidnapped as a trophy of accomplishment.

It would seem that height and finely tanned skin ran in the Rosengold blood. Lukas is a spitting image of his father and quite the sight standing alongside his twin sister (who he's only three inches taller than). He admittedly spends too much time in the morning styling his hair, but Lukas is a hirsute man in general. His shoulders are broad and his arms are muscled. He has the overall body of a practiced military man, but a love for spirits has given his tummy a little roundness that he has given up trying to lose. The former guardsmen also has an eye for fashion and dresses stylishly without apology, making use of accessories like piercings and such regularly.

PERSONALITY
Lukas is an amorous socialite who rarely refrains from striking up a conversation. Unlike his twin sister, the former guardsman approaches socialization with tact and a natural charm. He enjoys repartee in all its form and is just as likely to flirt with a shop owner as he is to barter with him. He isn't particularly confrontational but Lukas does his best to be an ambassador to Hes. With that said, Lukas is quick as all hell to jump to his sister's defense, or even to the defense of someone he considers a trusted friend. He was taught from a young age the value of loyalty and family and those values remain a heavy part of his character till this day.

HISTORY
Lukas and his twin sister Hestia grew up in Apollo's Rest. They were always treated to fanciful tales of dragon hunting and the riches one could get from it. Yet, their father was the head of the guard, and their mother was a practical seamstress. Their fate was decided before they could crawl out of the crib. Lukas took after his father physically but always seemed more preoccupied with keeping his bed warm than keeping the city safe. They both grew up underneath a militaristic thumb. Neither of the twins seemed to fall totally into that fold. They both had their wild personalities, but they learned well and they learned quickly. Within the guard, they became known as a dynamic duo.

Much later in life would they look elsewhere. As their mother became less and less apt at sewing, and their father drew closer and closer to retirement, they knew that they had to branch out. They started meshing their guard training with dragon slaying. Apollo's Rest was the best place for it. So, they found a retired dragon hunter by the name of Liam Greyson, and they trained underneath him.

During a mix of both guard training and dragon hunting, the twins were stationed on a small DHV called Cherub. It was meant to patrol Apollo's Rest and not much more. It ran into a small, but fearsome dragon one morning. Many of the crew were unprepared, and some of them died, but the Rosengold siblings managed to take down the small dragon. The compensation they received made them realize what they could do on a larger vessel. Lukas spent a good portion of his gold sharing rounds at local taverns but was later convinced by Hes into upgrading his equipment.

After their father retired, they broke away from tradition and decided to become dragon hunters. Their parents were quite against it at first, but they realized that they couldn't dissuade their progeny. More so, Lukas and Hes promised them a life of grandeur beyond what their feeble means would get them.

So, they set out for the strongest of DHV, the Beowulf.

SKILLS
Beyond his knack for conversation, Lukas is a proficient marksmen and fighter. He prefers to be up close and to barrel a little with his opponents, whether it's a gun fight or a fist fight, and uses that Rosengold physique to his best ability. He is decently practiced with a sword.

LUGGAGE
Lukas carries a shotgun named Lucy and all the necessary equipment to maintain her. He also has a decent sized travelling case mainly filled with coats and such.

MOTIVATION
To provide a better retirement for his parents and to secure a prosperous future for his twin sister.

The three of them each sat a side of the table. They bathed in the Arielan sunlight and took in the familiar scent of saltwater and roses along with their late breakfast. The current emperor of Ariela leaned back into his chair in silence while he let the weight of his words sink in. One of his guests, the beautiful redheaded Biancardi heiress, swallowed hard and opted to hide her shock with a lace fan. But the other guest, his son Alejandro, simply toyed with a handful of grapes.

"The King of Thornwild dead." The younger man repeated, his dark eyes flicking back towards his father as he tossed one of the grapes into his mouth. He chewed for a moment before chuckling lightly. "I think you should leave the jokes to me, father. You're terrible at this."

"I'm a ruler not a jester... don't think you are allowed to think otherwise just because you are my son." Stefan's expression hardened and he cleared his throat. Alejandro stared right back, his smugness unaffected.

"I just want you both to know what's truly important for our nation. With the social season starting tonight and how your aunt has been promoting the marriage of your cousin…" Stefan explained exasperatedly. "It will be easy to become distracted from what could be a great opportunity for Ariela."

"You wish to take Thornwild for your own?" Sarah spoke up suddenly, eyebrows furrowed.

"I wish to take Thornwild for Ariela." Stefan corrected without skipping a single beat. "If your father was still with us do you think he'd disagree?"

Alright, that'll be more than enough dad.​

"You've made your case, father. No need to go and start digging up corpses." Alejandro interjected coldly. For all he was concerned, the subject had run its course. The crown prince stood up, his chair scratching against the ground in the process.

"Sarah and I will make sure to not get wrapped up in the festivities while you look to expand our lands. Let's leave it at that."

Alejandro walked away, unable to see the surprised grin that slowly found his father's lips.

While talks of expansion took reign up in the Summer Palace, down below the rest of Anulesia seemed too entranced in festivities to think on dead kings and leaderless nations. Colorful ribbons hung above all along the streets and music seemed to be played from each corner, each home. The unique smell of salted rosewater mixed with the aroma of local eateries hard at work while Ariela celebrated the start to the social season.

This time of the year artistry is embraced, courting is encouraged and weddings are held! It's also the season of the ever-famous Auctions. The most capable young men of the realm marrying off to whatever noble lady paid the most for him in a very, very publicized manner? The drama of such a situation was enough to enamor plenty of Arielians.

Leonardo Michael Genovese walked down the sprawling cobblestone streets, casting away the tights and silks in favor of a loose and comfortable linen outfit. Beside him strode his closest friend and fellow chevalier, Alfonse.

"The whole city has really gone out on your behalf huh, Leo?" The blonde man teased, a mischievous glint in his grey green eyes. Leo smiled handsomely and shook his head while his friend continued. "What better way to celebrate the end of your life as a free man than to have the whole friggin' city singin?"

"Your exaggerating my part in this heavily, good friend." Leonardo laughed lightly, shoving the man towards the canal. Alfonse nearly toppled. "Everyone is simply using my situation as a reason to get really, really drunk."

Leonardo's eyebrow quirked and a smirk began to play on his lips as they meandered forward. He looked over to Alfonse who seemed to busy eyeing a woman at work selling vegetables to notice. "Which I mean... really doesn't sound like that bad of an idea right about now."

"I'm afraid that's a no-do today, bud. All of your important suitors are going to be riding in and we can't let you greet them smelling like you regularly sleep in a brewery." Alfonse was quick to reply, his attention snapping back to the chevalier. He laughed. "Trust me when you see who the Altieris are sending this year you'll thank me."

"Oh? Last I checked you have no sisters or female cousins…indeed I remember quite a common rumor stating that your line is cursed to forever bear annoyingly loud men." Leonardo rolled his eyes, stopping their walk to drop a few coins for a bard hard at work playing a tune.

"Pfftsh. Hogwash—all of it!" Alfonse exclaimed loudly, his voice drawing onlookers from everywhere. When he noticed he shrunk a little. "Yes, yes alright… we are sponsoring a woman but trust me when I say you'll know which woman the exact moment you see her."

"Hmph. Considering how excited you are, do me a favor and just take my spot—"

They paused and Leonardo felt his heart sink into his gut. Palace guardsmen. The duo could see a group of them came rowing down one of Ariela's many canals towards where they stood. Leo knew without a doubt his aunt must've sent them searching for him.

"Duty calls, I suppose." Alfonse quipped though he was far from vibrant. The blonde offered Leonardo a comforting smile and a pat on the shoulder before turning to walk away. "Have fun with the she-devil, Leo. I'm gonna go make sure my sponsor has arrive all safe like."

Alfonse didn't bother watching Leonardo get dragged off. He knew well enough that his best friend was too much of a rule follower to try and oppose his aunt. An unfortunate trait, but at least it meant he didn't have to think of a way to ditch Leo later on. He was to greet Nanda at the front gates today and he figured keeping the identity of his sponsor a surprise until the ceremony tonight would be his best move.

That way… the nobles get a show, the two of them get to see each other and Alfonse gets to see Leonardo smile the way he wished he would smile at him. The upturned corners of the chevalier's lips wavered at the thought, but he steadied himself. Alfonse refused to be sad while the city all around him beamed.

Ariela is as turbulent of a nation as it could be so when the city seems to be content you damn well don't waste the opportunity to sit back, smile and take part in the levity. So Alfonse remained as positive as ever while he made his way all the way down towards Andalusia's front gates.

Alexei had the entirety of the nation focused on the Genovese name. She may have not been Leo's aunt by blood but she had raised him ever since his pathetic little parents got themselves killed during her late father's regime. Leonardo had always been too passionate, too idealistic for her tastes… but at least the investment was finally returning to benefit her.

A regal image in her white floor gown and golden chains, Alexei strode through the halls of her wing in the Summer Palace. It was the same wing that the women competing for her nephew would be staying at during the competition. A few of them had already arrived, mainly the ones who came from out of Ariela, and Alexei had them escorted to the gardens.

What they were doing in the gardens was beyond her. They could be trying to recover from such a long journey into the south, or perhaps they were conversing and gauging one another out. Either way she intended to introduce Leonardo to them the moment he returned home. Local women were allowed to compete as tradition but almost everyone knew a foreigner would win by the end of this.

Alexei sighed, the tone of her words outright exasperated the moment she spotted Leo in his linens. "Off playing commoner again, I see. You'd think you would have grown out of it by now. You do realize we are trying to find you a wife right now?"

Leo just shrugged and offered a small smile. "What can I say? Being with the Order of Lions taught me to enjoy all kinds of company."

"Oh heavens dear, don't remind me." Alexei called out dramatically, as if such a declaration was enough to make her nearly faint. The woman turned away, waving him off with one elegant flick of her wrist. "Go hurry and wash up. You have some ladies to meet."

For an infamous assassin, Zven certainly didn't mind drawing attention to himself. It felt damn good to get out Ariela for once and while there were kingdoms he'd chose to go to before Cain'loren… this place wasn't too bad. In the two days he had spent so far, he learned that their booze was decent and their women better.

He hadn't come alone however. Selina had chosen to accompany him but he was meeting the contact alone today. Their little cat had a bad habit of disappearing on them, but at least she never failed to come back.

He wasn't nearly as informed about the job as he would have preferred… but Zven knew it involved killing the leader of an entire nation. It wouldn't be the first time for him, no that honor went to Empress ________ from Ariela.

Zven walked into The Mewling Lioness with a confident gait, his dark eyes scanning the crowd immediately. A few points of interest and the bar seemed welcoming enough but unfortunately his visit required him to be strictly professional.

Zven spotted the nervous wreck of a contact and smiled sweetly to himself. He could use that stress to his advantage and really milk the man of his money… heh. Tall dark and handsome, Zven quickly closed the distance and approached his table. He offered a short bow and a hand before flashing a smile.

"Leopold, yes? A little bird told me you're in the market for a bit of high steaks killin."
