Journey without end

The Doc liked the way Jimmy spoke. His voice was smooth like silk and had a certain calm coolness to it. He listened, nodding occasionally until Jimmy finished.

The doc was about to speak when is attention was sh
ifted to a new arrival, brought to his attention by Derrik or future-boy as the aging scientist had began to fondly -and mentally- refer to him as.

"Hey Doc! Looks like we missed someone."

"Amazing!"

Said the old scientist, walking towards the new comer who appeared to be from a feudal era, however his appearance is not what amazed the Doc most.

"Simply amazing! Do you know what this means!?"

He grabbed the new comer by the arm and led him to the edge of the cliff.

"You see down there, on the edge of that plain? THAT is where we came from, yet you appeared here! This means……that our collective time travel is not unrelated, time travel is linked to one thing…"

He trailed off, letting go of the mans arm and walking back to answer Jimmy.

The fact that this new person, Sereg, had appeared here was like an exclamation point to Jimmy's speech.

"Well, it seems that two things are evident......"

The Doc felt a sudden flush, realizing that Jimmy had nailed his suspicions down like floorboard. He was responsible for this fluke in time and bringing all these people together, still he spoke

"One, my device brought us here. But why us? I have a hypothesis, an idea if you will, on why we, an apparently random group of individuals are all here together, lost in time."

He tapped his chin, absently staring at Zakia as she played with a bug

"We are here to achieve a collective goal, by whatever means, to create a future for the end of humanity. The end of time. And in some way all of our paths are linked together"

It was a mouthful, but really quit simple. By chance or fate this device had fallen into the Doc's hands, and by chance or fate these people had all an intertwining future. The Doc felt the air grow thick as he realized the urgency of their mission.

About an hour away, approaching from the north, was a nomadic clan. Early man, primitive yes, but not without well established society and customs. They walked in a line that stretched for at least a mile, and were headed towards the time travelers at this very moment. They carried a freshly killed carcass of what had to be a prehistoric buffalo. It's body was hoisted up with branches, carried by several men. To mark their steady pace, several of the men carried large primitive drums which they beat to the rhythm of a prehistoric cadence.

THE DRUMS

Just about the time the time travelers heard this sound, they noticed something else. A rustling in the bushes, scouts, fifteen, maybe twenty of them. They circled the party, spears drawn and pointed at them.

But then something very unexpected happened. One by one they fell to their knees. It didn't take a genius to realize that they were giving praise, and the Doc didn't fail to notice. However he also noticed another thing: These apparent cave people were not shocked by the strange dress of the time travelers, no, their attention was solely focused on one thing.

Akila…..

By the time the rest of their clan had circled the plateau, it was evident that these cave men -cave people as there were many women and children with them- were not going to kill the party, in fact they were all given water from water skins and told to follow.

The cave people wore very little clothing, as it was very hot this time of year. The men, practically naked, wearing only a loin cloth that hung low on their hips, leaving nothing to the imagination. Some of the men, the ones that appeared to be the warriors of the group, had leather straps across their chests, usually holding crude weapons or bow and arrow. The women wore the same as the men, except for light furs, fastened by leather string, covered their breasts. The children, of which there were many, wore gunny sack looking dresses that came down just below their knees. The children were fascinated with the travelers, following behind them, laughing and throwing small stones.

Communication was tough, but they spoke words in the common language, along with a variety of hand signals and harsh sounds from the throat. While the rest of the party was made to walk in line, Akila got the royal treatment. Allowed to ride in a carriage of sorts, pulled by an odd prehistoric animal, one which the doc had never seen. People flocked around her, the men offering her meat, while the women offering scented oils and flowers.

They walked for hours, not really being taken prisoner, but at the same time not being free to leave. When the Doc had to stop for a moment, examining a ginormous foot print of what had to be an actual dinosaur, he was accompanied by two of the cavemen, each sporting a large spear.

"You, Come" Is all they said when he had left the ranks, so the Doc didn't argue.

Night fall swept across the land and torches were lit to guide their path. The Doc couldn't help but wish there was a steam train, like the London express handy. However his tired feet cried out in joy as the caravan finally stopped at the foot of a sheer rock cliff that stretched up further than the eye could see. On the base of the cliff were many large openings, caves. At first they looked like giant gaping mouths of blackness, but soon enough fires were lit and the Doc saw that it was where these Cave folk lived.

View attachment 9855The fires burned bright inside the caves as meat from the prehistoric buffalo was positioned over the burning flames on primitive spits. Huge wooden cups, containing an alcoholic concoction, were passed around. Then, all at once, the drums began to play again, but this time instead of a marching cadence they played in joyous upbeat rhythms. Many of the cave folk began to move in odd jerky ways. 'The first dance of man', thought the Doc.

It didn't take a genius to realize that this was a party.

A party to praise the return of a goddess.

The time travelers were offered food and drink, asked to dance and told stories (most of which were completely lost in translation). But at the head of the party, being offered first choice of everything, was the teen aged Egyptian, Akila.

The Doc drank a tiny sip of the alcoholic drink, it tasted like rotten grapes mixed with mud, but he drank it all the same.

Colleen stared, smiling, her eyes open wide, at the blue-dreadlock girl. Of course she was amazed at her hair- her hair was amazing, after all! She wasn't sure what to reply at her, though. She nodded repeatedly, pormising, in her mind, not to pinch her own skin anymore- she had not awakened in any case, so it was pretty pointless now anyway. Seeing that Zakia's enthousiasm was soon focused on a bug, Colleen relaxed a little.

She chuckled.
I should totally teach her about hairspray!, she decided. Of course, that was going to be later on. And she would probably teach the Doc too, who also seemed to ignore hairspray. Good thing she kept the can in her bag. She started thinking of other hairstyles she could wear, almost ingoring completely the Doc and Jimmy, who were sharing vital pieces of information.

Colleen smiled and looked at them. It felt right knowing that, whatever that was going on, they understood it. She had decided not to make herself much trouble- she knew she would be waking up anytime soon anyway. Just like that man that had just joined them. Colleen nodded in satisfaction.

And then, all of a sudden, they were surrounded by a tribe of sorts. Colleen clutched her bag tightly, afraid of what might become of them. But not much happened- only they started to bow at the girl that looked like Cleopatra. Colleen nodded- the girl knew how to wear makeup, that was clear, and one good reason to praise someone.

--------------------------------------------
Is this....

''RAD! A COSTUME PARTY!'', Colleen said, barely containing her excitement. She left her bag on the floor, and jumped in with the cavemen, shaking her body in a similar fashion, at the beat of their drums. Colleen was pretty worn out thanks to the long walk to the cave, and she was thirsty, so soon she was out seeking something to drink. Her eyes caught the Doc sipping something.

''Coke! Can I have some?''

She waited for him to lower the clay cup he was holding, and snatched it from his hands, smiling at him at all times of course.
Soon she pulled a face. That thing definitely wasn't coke. She choked with it, and couldn't help to spat out some of her drink in a thin mist, away from everybody of course.

Turning around, she saw a circle of people gathering. They seemed to be sharing stories... Collen took a place in the circle, wondering what was about to come out of this. Probably for the first time since she time-travelled, Collen started to pay attention at what people were saying around. Still, the accent of the cavemen made it hard for her to understand. But she enjoyed it.

Surely this couldn't be - The cavemen they were... They were worshipping her, showering her with food drink and affection. For a homey middle class Egyptian woman, Akila forgot about her troubles momentarily, reveling in this royal treatment. Thrilled at being the center of attention she threw herself into the throes of the party. Laughing, dancing, drinking, she did all of it. But as night grew and after she feasted on the buffalo meat, the questions started emerging.

She knew there couldn't possibly be a way she could exist in this era. Her time period didn't have all of the technological advances as the other time travelers did, but she knew this era was far behind hers. It was with this revelation that caused Akila to come to terms about her predicament - She wasn't in hell, she was lost in time. The idea boggled her mind, temporarily numbing her entire body. But she was here with others from different time periods. What's more... The cave men knew of her, paintings of her were scribbled on the cave walls.

They placed her on a fur mat, comfy though it was, it smelled musty. It was hard to concentrate through the smells but focus she did.

What happened here? Her garb was so different from these prehistoric people. Someone must have been here before them, someone from her time. Would it have anything to do with what was happening in her timeline? The discontent, the drought, the famine - Could it all possibly be connected?

A clay cup of alcohol was passed to her hands. Absent mindedly she drank from it. Under normal circumstances she would have spat the concoction out but a picture at the top of the wall caught her attention... Unlike the others, it wasn't painted on, it was carved into the stone.

"... That can't be."

Throwing the cup aside, Akila went in search of the old man. She hardly knew him, but she felt it was important to speak to this scientist.

Everything went so fast, Melody wasn't certain what to think about the whole situation as she listened to the man that seemed to travel in time a lot. She had a hard time with his accent but she could understand what he said, because she didn't get out much she had a hard time for people with different accent's than herself. Which was a reason why she also kept staying inside for the fear of not understanding people.

As she sat lost in her own thoughts she suddenly got woken up by some cave people, Melody were frightened that they would get killed all the time until they got to the cave and the cave people seemed to have a party for them instead. They seemed to be adoring the Egyptian girl, but were they all safe just because they thought one of them were a God? Maybe they would offer the others to the God later. She couldn't enjoy they party, she was to worried over that something would happen. Hopefully they would be able to survive this time period and be able to get home to their own times soon.

Damian was taking in the scenery some more, checking out the females a little bit. He was wiping the rest of the blood from his ears and was probably going to strike up a conversation with the guy and maybe the others that weren't talking time travel business. He was stalled however first by the arrival of the new guy and then the sudden appearance of the cave men. Damian jumped up off his rock, leather coat and gloves in hand, and quickly looked around to see if he could make a break for it but saw that they were completely surrounded with armed cave-people. Damian almost jumped over the kneeling primitives, but then he wondered why they were kneeling. Looking around he found out, it was the Egyptian chick they seemed to be groveling to. That was weird.

Now they were being lead away to a cave, where, apparently, the cave folk were having a party
"What the hell?" Damian noticed that the large haired girl seemed to be enjoying herself, she seemed kind of ditzy to Damian but it was harmless, unless cavemen were enraged by ditz or something.

He put his gloves and coat back on despite the heat so as to prevent cave freaks from messing with it, he put a lot of time into his equipment. Still they picked at his clothing and he shooed them away as other cave ravers pushed clay cups into their hands. Damian relented and took a swig of the stuff. He grimaced and set the cup aside, he'd had worse. However he didn't turn down the food, how could he turn down a mammoth steak? Soon he was beginning to relax, taking a couple sips of the low grade drink to wash the mammoth down. He started singing along with the cavemen a little and he managed to convince one of them to let him bang on a drum with them.

It was strange, too strange for Dark.
He had so far let himself be dragged along with this whole thing, despite it being chaotic and utterly unreal but this- this was too much. The rest of his party were now singing and dancing with the cave men and Dark was at a total loss as what to do.
He wanted to sort this mess out and go home but at the same time wanted to stay. A new adventure. Nothing like this had happened before and if he was honest he as actually starting to warm to it. Or maybe that was the drink. He didn't know what was in it. All he knew was it was different to his own water and juices back home. He was filling his belly with a little of the meat the cave men were offering when he noticed he noticed how worried one of the females in his group looked.
He wandered over to her and started to ask her if she was well when he stopped.
She probably wouldn't understand him- the other man hadn't- so he started to make gestures and pulled faces. Rubbing his stomach and pretending to faint to ask if she was ill.
She was probably not as physically ill as mentaly. Like him she probably wanted to go home but there was nothing they could do for now.

Derrik his armed crossed, turned towards the Doc blinking, "It means we missed someone?" He continued to blink and stare blankly at the old man as he dragged the new man to the edge of the cliff. He stared at the old man as he tried to explain his hypothesis, and from what he could understand they had been chosen by fate to be heroes…or something like that. "Well it doesn't matter. I'm going to have fun either way." He smiled as he mumbled to himself.

He then noticed a deep drumming sound coming from somewhere in the distance, he also noticed some rustling in the brush nearby; his instincts kicking in he grabbed his knife and crouched ready to fight. He glared at the caveman his knife ready to dart out and cut if they came towards him. He was taken away when they dropped to their knees to worship the Egyptian girl. Baffled, he smiled and pocketed his knife, "Looks like we have a celebrity in our midst." He cocked his head to the side and looked at the girl, "Friends of yours?" He shook his head, knowing that she couldn't understand him.

As more and more cavepeople started to appear he stood his arms crossed a smirk on his face, he did accept a waterskin though, and walked along with the group as they followed the cavepeople. He glanced around at the cavepeople as he watched; they didn't look exactly human, they looked like halfway between apes and human, and that stopped him from hitting on any of them, but he had no such reservations of his companions, he openly ogled them and wolf whistled when he found particular "choice cuts".

When night fell he started to feel colder lacking a shirt so he started to move his arms in furious pumping motions, to keep the blood pumping through his body. His feet where sore by the time they came to the cavepeoples home. He sat himself near the fire warming himself as he glanced around, when he caught site of the cups he grinned grabbing one he took a huge gulp, but when his tong registered the taste his eyes bulged and he sprayed everything to the side away from people.

He scrubbed on his tongue, taking a swig of water from a skin, but still couldn't get the taste out of his mouth, "I'm glad we evolved above this. I could really go for a scotch on the rock right about now." He didn't even remark to anyone in particular just, commented to the air. He started to eat the buffalo, though it was a bit to overdone for his tastes, but he was to hungry to care, he dug in and ate a large amount himself. He took another swig of water to wash down his food, glancing around at the dancing he smirked. He didn't particularly like this types of music, but he was willing to lay on a fur and watch others embarrass themselves.

View attachment 9985The doc watched as the 'party' ensued. The alcoholic beverage, that he had suspected to be a mixture of curdled milk and fermented fruit was drawn from large stone bowls. The more the cave people drank, the more they danced and the louder the drummers played, the steady beat reverberating throughout the cave and into the night.

''Coke! Can I have some?''

The one with the strange hairspray, Colleen, said.

"Certainly my dear, there…." The Doc was about to reply by telling her 'there was plenty to go around and that he was sure these people found it very polite that she would partake in their spirits', but was robbed of his drink by the feisty future girl before he had a chance. He was startled at first, nearly tripping over a cave woman that was standing behind him, but instead he regained his composure and laughed at her expression after she had taken a gulp.

"Well, well. It's not tonic water, that is for certain!"

The Doc felt his head began to swim, in part due to the alcohol, but also because of the tremendous strain Time Travel had on the body. He was also sure, although would never admit, that being over 60 didn't help either. HE was about to take a seat on on of the stone carved primitive seats when he saw Akila. She was no longer positioned at the head of the party, and it seemed that no one had noticed she had left. He went to her, concerned.

"Is everything alright, child?" He noted the look of concern on her face, the dark eyes beneath the thick eyeliner appeared distraught, as he looked at the others in their group to see if they too shared feelings of unease.

She babbled in Egyptian, gesturing towards the back of the cave where she stumbled upon her findings. Akila was so distraught she bumped into people to get to the Doctor, knocking against Dark, breaking clay cups and stepping on someone's foot. Clasping hands with the scientist and Dark she led them over to the carving, still babbling. Some of the cave people parted aside, but some were too drunk to notice.

"وهنا, وحفر. وهذا ليس من هذا الزمن, من المنجم. فهو رمز الاله الأولى. هل تعرفون ماذا يعني هذا?!"

Here, this carving. This is not from this time, it is from mine. It is a symbol of the God Aten. Do you know what this means?!

So engrossed was she with telling the doctor what was happening, Akila didn't notice the activity behind her.

With gruff words, the men of the tribe gestured for the other time travelers to follow them outside. The people included were Colleen, Melody and Damien. There were others who were taken outside at a separate time, but for the first group they were taken to a different part of the stone structure. They were led to another cave, this one taller and grander. Paintings were sprawled all over the walls with various different colors. While most of the paintings consisted of stick drawings and engorged animals, a small handful of paintings - mostly near obscure locations - were carved in. They weren't done amatuerly either. They were ornate with a clear understanding of how to work the stone.

The cave people who brought the time travelers looked excited and happy. They were all smiles, pushing and shoving each other like brothers playing. Six of them in all, each of them carried some sort of weapon, either a club or pike. Their faces had red paint smeared on the cheeks, with more paint on their hands. They led the group farther in, bringing them to an altar.

The altar was made of stone, but of a different variety than the one surrounding them. The rock was smooth, polished. It was almost white and decorated with more carvings. What's more, the altar was in the shape of a obelisk. At the very peak of the structure a hole was made for the sun to shine through. Strewn across the floor were humans bones and flesh, with blood serving as the red paint for the walls and the cavemen.

No longer smiling, the cave men raised their weapons, moving forward as the trio of prisoners moved backwards towards the altar.

They were the sacrifices for the night.

Jimmy raised a brow at the doctor...why would he want to help the people from the end of time...why did he think that was the reason for them being together in this prehistoric age? It was a little odd, but Jimmy was used to odd...He had been around for a long time and he had seen many thing, learned many things, and he wasn't unfamiliar with fate. Jimmy nodded at Doc's reply...he had tho think on it for a bit. Ultimately, he would accept Doc's hypothesis and would want to convey his acceptance to Doc.

Patting Doc on the shoulder, Jimmy prepared to tell Doc how he felt. "Hey Pops, I..." Jimmy heard a rustle in some nearby bushes. He looked around and noticed the cavemen surrounding them. He placed his clarinet case on the ground and quickly assumed a well disciplined Weng Chun fighting stance. During his ventures through time, Jimmy had learned martial arts from many different schools, even the Shaolin Monastery.

Suddenly, the cave people fell to their knees...it was a strange sight indeed..."Haha! Musta gave'em a good scare!" Jimmy smiled at the group. He was obviously joking. There was no way these brutes would stand down to our group, especially when there were so many of them.

Jimmy picked his clarinet case up and watched the people focus on the Egyptian girl. It looked as if they were praising her...Jimmy wanted to ask her some questions, but it would have to wait...it would seem that the men wanted to take her and place her on a pedestal...If the teenage girl was in fact a time traveler, this would help Jimmy a lot in trying to establish a link back to the timeline.

Jimmy didn't argue with the cave people. They weren't trying to kill him or the rest of the group, so he went along with them. The walk took the rest of the day. It was a long and hot trail, until dusk, when it cooled off enough to be tolerable. While walking, Jimmy bobbed his head to the beating of the drums, even though it was primitive, it was still music to Jimmy. If he wasn't so hot, he might have busted out his clarinet and jammed along with the beat.

After a good long walk, the group finally reached a series of caves. This must be their home. the mood suddenly changed from drudging march to happening party. The drum cadences changed and became more lively, the people gathered around and started cooking and serving food and drinks. It was a real prehistoric jamboree!

jimmy smiled at the new scenery, his scenery.e "Haha! Listen to those cats beat those skins! Pretty jammin, I think I just got a second wind!" To Jimmy, this wan't too strange, being in a different time period. He took each day as they came, and lived in the moment, and at this moment, it was party time.

With a snap, pop and a click, Jimmy had opened his clarinet case and pieced it together. Placing the reed and tightening the ligature, Jimmy danced around with the other cave people. It was fun, and he made light of the whole "trapped in time" situation. After a moment of dancing, Jimmy would hop up on a stone "chair" and play some swinging melodies to go along with the beating of the drums. He didn't really think about what the cave people would do after seeing and hearing the new instrument. He was just living in the moment.

The entire crowd didn't seem to mind, in fact, Jimmy thought they enjoyed it. Truth was, they were probably just in a euphoric state of happiness and drunkenness due to the fact that they found Akila...Akila...it hit him. He had to ask her some questions! He took a quick bow and smiled. "Thank you, thank you, I'll be here for a set of seven brights!" He hopped off the chair and made his way back to where Akila had been seated. He saw her and the Doc looking at some markings on the wall. He heard the last part of her sentence...Do you know what this means?!

Jimmy recognized the language and assumed that she didn't know how to speak english...

"كنت لا يتحدثون اللغة الإنجليزية، أليس كذلك؟ هل أنت مسافر من الزمن؟ كنت هنا من قبل؟"

You do not speak English, right? Are you a traveler of time? You were here before?

Jimmy spoke directly to Akila. It was still possible that Akila was a time traveler, many time travelers forget their native language and learn the language of their preferred time periods...Jimmy kept all the languages he learned and tried to practice them in his spare time...in a way, Jimmy was a genius when it came to history and culture. Jimmy would give Akila time to answer or not before he said anything about the wall carvings...

"لم فعلت ذلك؟"
Did you do this?

Jimmy simply asked, marveling at this obvious marking from a different time period. He hopped that Akila drew it...but he doubted she did...

''...and that was how I was fired from my very first job, on my very first day of work!'' Colleen concluded her short story with a smile, and clasped her hands, looking at the others that were also gathered around the fire. She sighed. The cavepeople exchanged glances and some laughs between themselves, staring at Colleen, who did not seem to mind that, for them, she had just been babblering noise and gesturing. In fact, two women were mimicking her hand gestures and laughing at each other. The rest were too drunk to do much at all.

''Is there any meat le- HEY!'', Colleen shouted, as she suddenly spotted a group of children messing up with the stuff in her bag. How careless of herself! She had left her bag there...! Quickly running towards them, Colleen snatched her bag, and what she could from the kids' hands- her magazine, some chewing gum, her house keys- and walked away, to make sure everything was just fine in there. Nothing seemed to be missing, fortunately.

It was about then that she spotted the egyptian girl in distress, at the distance.
Cleopatra sure could use a couple of drinks... I wonder what's wrong, Collen pondered. She started to walk towards her, but a cavemen grabbed her arm and led her to the opposite direction. Soon she recognized the guy with the charming smile, and the girl with the delicate face. They were all being led to the same place- wherever that was.

''Hey!'', she said, cheerily. ''Before this turns into something awkward to ask.... I'm Colleen! What's your names?'', she asked them, as they walked to the larger cave.

And what a sight. With an obelisk and all!

''Ra-'' she was about to say, but soon she realized...
''...Are, are those like, like human bones?'' Colleen asked, as she turned around, pulling a face. Something was obviously not right there.

Then she saw them, the cavemen, approaching... with their clubs and the look on their faces...
She started stepping backwards, her face twisted in horror. The dream had suddenly turned into a nightmare. And she wanted to wake up.
Coleen clutched her bag tightly, and started yelling.

''AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!....''

It was amazing that even with such a difference in era, Zakia still felt like a child inside. No, this situation did not seem to affect her very much in that sense. The moment she had entered the cave, her eyes had scanned over each and every ancestor of their manly species. Her eyes sparkled with wonder and curiosity, refraining from reaching out to stroke their faces and feel for their bone structures. She wished to know how thick their bones were, and how they had developed thus far in time! However, in her year she knew this was impolite, and she was fairly certain it would be the same now, it was a bad idea to follow through with.
She came to a decision.
She would observe and play the games of the cave children.

Seeing as she wasn't really the type to drink anyways, as Zakia could tell the liquid that was being offered to them as visitors was having an alcoholic effect on her comrades, she chose to decline the cup when it came to her. Smiling in return, the tall, lanky woman found her place amongst the shorter, hyperactive little beings. Crouching low to their level, she did not understand a word they spoke, clicked, sounded out. Even so, she thought she understood them. Expressing herself with hand gestures, eyebrow wiggles and other sorts of movement, Zakia made conversation somehow. It was such fun! Really, lost in this little world she created before herself, she was rather enjoying the time they spent in the cave.

While braiding together one child's hair, humming to another a song she had in her head, she remembered what time she was in again. Deciding it best not to dawdle and ignore those in her party, Zakia rose and patted the children on their small, prehistoric heads. Turning, she strode over to where the woman with a distressed expression was, the jazzed up fellow, and the older man she actually knew amongst the others, her face brightening quickly with a smile. Standing quietly near them, she tried to focus on what they had been conversing over, yet, she found herself losing concentration once again. Staring off at the ceiling, she wondered then what kind of minerals were hidden beyond the rocks surrounding them. What if they had secrets buried in deep that could solve modern day problems? Tapping a long nail against her chin, she continued to ponder with herself, completely calm and rather comfortable in her position.

This party was actually pretty cool, the cavefolks seemed friendly and let him bang on the drums and pal around with them. After a while he was led out of the cave by some cavedudes along with two of the chicks that had time traveled here. He laughed and said to her "My name is Damian, it's nice to meet you Colleen" he gave her a smile and took a small sip of foul alcohol from the clay cup in his hand. When the other cave came into view a tingling sensation made the hair on the back of his neck stand on end.

When they came to the entrance of the bigger cave the cavedudes ushered the inside. This cave was bigger and had paintings everywhere, now and then amongst them were some pretty impressive carvings. Looking at the art on the walls caused the the prickling sensation again, it was starting to bother him. A stone thing came into sight, it seemed to have some kind of religious significance to it. Strewn around the stone thing were skeletons, human skeletons.
Ah shit. He knew he should have made a break for it. Turning around, he saw the cavemen and sudden seriousness in their expression. The moment their faces changed, he moved.

He launched himself past a spear and broke the caveman's nose with his fist and then yanked the spear from him as he fell to the ground. The neanderthals were surprised and were slow to react, well two seconds wasn't exactly slow but in life and death situations it's plenty long. They also were not prepared for Damian's speed. Man years of fighting off security guards had honed his natural speed and agility. The next caveman got muddy alcohol splashed into his eyes and a kick to the sternum into another caveman. Damian was almost distracted by Colleen's scream, it seemed to not phase the other standing cavemen, they seemed more in tune with instinct.

Their shaggy heads were turned toward him now. At least one caveman was going to be down for a while, and the one he kicked would take a minute and the one he kicked him into was already standing up. It took less than a fourth of a second to process this. Damian hurled the clay cup at the staggered caveman. It missed and shattered against the cave wall, he didn't aim will with his left hand. The four standing cavemen were approaching fast, and Splashy was getting up and groping around for his weapon. Damian's fingers touched the pad on his wrist and then a projector installed in his coat projected the holographic image of Damian tinkering with something. The cavemen paused and took swings a the holographic projections. At this point Damian took the chance to stab one of them in the eye.

Damian pulled the pike thing back and saw movement from the corner of his eye. Instinctively he ducked and hopped back as a club sailed over his head. He struck out with the pike and drove the tip through the caveman's ribcage and into his heart. Unfortunately Damian's time was up and the odds were starting to catch up to him, a pike stabbed at him from the left. Damian had to abandon his hold on the weapon in favor of throwing himself backward, the jutting spike of the pike slashed across his abdomen. Landing on his butt, Damian scrabbled backwards as blood dripped from the wound, and the other caveman hefted his club in preparation for an overhead smash. Well, at least he'd evened the odds a bit.

View attachment 10116The cave people, in all their outright primitive behavior, were no doubt standing on the edge of creation. Creation of a future world, a future religion, a future that could not be seen, but could be predicted. The Doc didn't dare pretend to be able to tell the future, that was gypsy magic! Preposterous! But when the young Egyptian girl looked into his eyes and started talking in a shaky voice, he knew that something had happened. A connection between her time and this one had been made. It happened so fast that the Doc didn't even entertain the notion of a change in the time space continuum, but years later, looking back on this night, he would no doubt make the assumption that this was the first of many future altering events.

All at once the joyous drumming took on a darker sound, somehow lower and more ominous, as the time travelers were separated. The doc, along with everyone save Damien, Colleen and Melody, were taken at spear point to a deeper section of the cave. The Doc had only a second to notice that this party had turned malicious before nearly breaking his neck when he was roughly pushed by an ornery caveman who seemed to have forgotten that he had shared a drink with the Doc only moments before.

When they arrived at a stone alter, the realization hit the Doc like a ton of bricks.

This was no party to hail a goddess

This was a sacrifice.

As sounds of fighting echoed down the cave from the outer area where they had just been, The aging professor felt the stone point of a pike jab into his stomach, forcing him backwards.

"My friends, I fear that we are in a sinking ship without a paddle."

The cavemen, primitive red paint -or blood- dripping from their shadow strewn faces, closed in on them. The Docs mind raced, but he saw it all too clearly without the pain of over thinking.

They wanted Akila dead, and the rest were just a bonus for the bloodbath.

Derrik had eaten his fill and drunk enough water, he was warm and relatively comfortable. He watched as the others danced, drank, told stories, and generally made a fool of themselves. None of this interested him per say, but watching was just as fun for him. He caught site of the Egyptian girl making some noise and the Doc and Dark taking interest he sat watching, but finally pulled himself up and walked over to them, he noticed out the corner of his eye that he saw three of the time travellers being taken off by the cavepeople, he ignored them thinking them just going to explore.

He walked up when Jimmy was talking to the girl in what Derrik assumed was her native language, he stood back and watch wondering what the whole fuss was about. He nodded at the strange haired woman when she walked up, quickly turning back to look at the carvings. "Erm what's all the fuss about?" Derrik didn't think Jimmy heard him, but Derrick then heard a shift in the music, glancing around he found himself and the other time travellers around him surrounded by grumpy cave men.

He almost went to fight first before thinking, his instincts telling him something was wrong here and that these people weren't just here to have fun; there was something wrong here. His hand slipped into his pocket gripping his knife, he smiled at the cavmen, "No need to be uncivilized guys. Your ruining the party! Let's just laugh about it and go back to drink-" His sentence was caught off as a large males fist hit him square in the jaw silencing his words, "No." The brute simply said.

The coppery taste of blood was in his mouth, raising his hand he wiped the trickle of blood coming from both his nose and mouth. He jaw clenching in a grim smile, "I see. This party has turned into that type of party." He received jab to his shoulder for that one. He smiled and walked along with the other, secretly planning; he would need to take out the big brute first; he seemed to be the chieftain or something.

He would have the element of semi surprise and he thought it best to use that against the big brute; besides he reminded himself he needed to pay the big guy back. He knew where this was heading long before he caught site of the alter, but when he saw his suspicions hardened and so did his resolve. He was herded into the center of the room with the others, cursing his that he hadn't taken the advantage of surprise earlier. He smiled grimly at the Doc, "Look like we are going to have use our hands then."

He unsheathed his knife and ran forward; when one of the caveman predictable lunged for him he span to the side, following full circle with his spin he had drove his knife into the pikeman's neck. Grabbing the pike from the ground he hefted it in the direction of his fellow time travelers, running onto another pikeman before he could react. The pike came swinging for his head, he ducked and grabbed the pike, propelling himself forward he drove his knife into the cavemans gut.

The caveman shuddered as Derrik cut through the rest of the belly letting his entrails fall onto the cave floor. Grabbing this pike he threw it back to his allies again. He caught site of the chieftain charging towards him, smiling he stood his ground waiting. "The bigger they are the harder they fall."

Jimmy was cut short in his conversation with Akila. Suddenly the cave people started forcing them deeper into the cave, some companions were missing though...hopefully they were still alive...Jimmy didn't like the looks of this, especially the way the cave people were beating Derrik simply for talking...

Once the group reached the stone alter, it was apparent that the cave people wanted the group dead. This looked to be like some sort of sacrifice...probably because of the drawing Akila found. It was an interesting situation...

Derrik was the first to strike. He held a sharp blade and used it with stupendous skill, slicing and disarming a couple cave people. It was quite effective, and it showed that these sluggish brutes were easily defeated with greater speeds.

*Snatch*

Jimmy grabbed the first spear hurled at the group. The weapon was quite crude, but not unusable. In learning Weng Chun, Jimmy learned spear fighting, since spears or long poles were one of the choice weapons for Weng Chun fighters. His disciplined combat style would be more than enough to protect the party.

Jimmy stood his ground in a ready position, calculating his next move quickly. There were two armed men about the same length away from Jimmy, he would have to decide which one to hit first. One caveman had a red war marking on his face, blood or paint, the other had a gruff beard, both carried spears. Luckily, Derrik had caused enough commotion to capture the attention of a good handful of cave people. Jimmy tapped the ground in front of him, holding the spear fully extended, and began his assault.

Six and a half point spear style...Jimmy thrust his spear high at the bearded man, causing the caveman to lean back. He followed the high poke with a low one, causing the caveman to step back. He then thrust low three more times in rapid succession, keeping the caveman on his heels. The painted caveman decided to strike now, thrusting high at Jimmy. Jimmy blocked it with ease, using an inside high deflection maneuver. He continued his onslaught against the bearded caveman who decided to attempt an attack, thinking Jimmy was open. The attack failed miserably, for Jimmy stuck to his training and poked low, causing the bearded caveman to stumble, allowing Jimmy to jerk his spear back to unleash three more low, but more powerful, hits. Only one landed, cutting the bearded man's ankle just enough to show who had the upper hand.

Jimmy noticed the painted caveman making a move again and focused his spear accordingly, using a high outside deflection maneuver to keep the cave man back before poking the bearded caveman low again, keeping him back as well. Jimmy invited an attack from either cave man at this point. The tip of his spear was firmly placed on the ground as he grinned at the primitive men. The bearded man took the bait. He thrust forward, aiming at Jimmy's torso. As Jimmy used a rotational motion of his spear to deflect and properly disarm the bearded man, the painted caveman attacked too. Jimmy ducked low to dodge the painted man's thrust/swing desperate attack and poked the bearded man in the thigh before springing up and backwards, jabbing the over extended painted caveman thrice in the legs. The painted caveman fell to the ground due to two lacerations and a broken left knee. The now disarmed caveman stood defenseless and Jimmy took action. With a quick thrust to the stomach, and a twist of the wrist, the bearded caveman fell backwards, leaking crimson onto the cold stone floor. Jimmy snarled at the painted caveman, kicked his dropped spear away before jamming the tip of his spear into his right knee, making sure he wouldn't get up.

Jimmy looked back at the group with a stern look on his face. He had to protect the defenseless members of the group, so he stayed close to them. A few cavemen had witnessed the very quick bout between Jimmy and two of their brothers. It took no more than twenty seconds to skillfully fell two of the brutes at once. Jimmy hadn't trained all those years for nothing. He shot a quick smile at the group, assuring them that they should be fine.

From being treated as royalty they now were going to become sacrifices, Melody looked at the cavemen as they pointed their spears at them. The stone alter would probably soon become their grave, Melody couldn't believe that this was how her life would end. For so long she had tried to avoid people and now all of a sudden she were among a lot of people that tried to kill her. One of the women screamed and Melody shut her eyes closed, she didn't want to see when her death moment. But she opened her eyes when the old man and the others came in to the cave. So they were all going to die, even the one they had worshiped just a moment ago.

She shut her eyes again. Please, if I'm going to get killed at least let me die quickly She thought to herself. She put her hands together and started to pray silently to herself even though she had never really believed in God. Then she heard sounds, it sounded like people were fighting. It probably were some of the others among them that had tried to attack the cavemen. Melody didn't dare to look, it sounded like someone died, was it a caveman? Was it one of them that had traveled in time? She put her hands over her ears so that she wouldn't be able to hear it, but sounds still came threw to her ears. Her whole body choke of fear, she wanted to know what was going on but at the same time she didn't want to see people die and then possibly see herself die. She tried to concentrate on breathing instead of all the sounds that were around her, but her thoughts came back to the sounds all the time.

Colleen kept walking backwards, now covering her mouth with her hands as she did. This was just horrible! This nightmare had to end! She looked sideways, and saw how Melody was also horrorized, praying. Fortunately, Damian happened to be a competent fighter, actually, a pretty good one in Colleen's opinion.

She watched the fight that developed in front of her, with her eyes wide open in terror and amazement, her fingers still covering her mouth.
She was, just like the cavemen, absolutely taken by surprise with Damian's holographic projection.
Colleen gasped.
RADICAL!

She was trying to understand what was going on, what was that thing she had just seen. It was like a ghost! She didn't have time to understand much. A short scream came out of her mouth, as she saw how a caveman sunk his spear at Damian. One thing was clear; he had been hurt, and he had two cavemen on him. If she didn't do anything.....

''Grrrrrrr-HAAAAAAAAAAA!''

Suddenly, the two cavemen were startled; a huge pink bag had just been hurled at them. Without wasting any time, Colleen used their confusion to her advantage, picking up a club that was on the floor, and effectively hitting one of them with it on the head. She stopped, in shock; she had never hit someone like that, on the head, in her entire life. Colleen wasn't much of a fighter.

The other caveman turned back at her, showing his teeth, and violently grabbed her, one hand holding her wrist, which made her drop the weapon; the other hand..., on her hair.

''NOT THE HAIR! NOT THE HAIRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!''

Colleen winced at the feel of his dirty palms over her, but, really, that was not something she would stop to think about at the moment. The caveman hurled her, slamming Colleen's body against the cave wall. She covered her face and crouched, seeing the man was about to punch her.

Damian heard a yell but was more intent on scrabbling back from the caveman that was about to crush him. Before the brute could bring the club down a large ping bag hit one of them and it had made both of them look at Colleen. Damian saw Colleen reaching for a club on the ground, but that's the last thing he saw as he turned to roll onto his feet. He lunged at the caveman with the pike who had noticed him sooner than Damian expected and shoved him hard. Damian fell back onto his butt as the caveman raised his crude weapon to impale Damian where he sat, but Damian brought back a foot and kicked with all his might at the caveman's hairy knee. It crunched and bent backward, the caveman screamed with pain, stumbled, then fell over clutching at his knee. Damian got up as he fell, grabbing up his pike and kicking him in the face in the process. He whipped his head around to see Colleen crouched against a wall, shielding herself. With a flying leap he swung the pike down and clocked the caveman on the head, which probably made his headache worse. The caveman stumbled and whipped himself around to attack but only received a pike through his jugular. The caveman gurgled as he choked on his own blood and sunk to the ground.

Damian was breathing hard, his heart was pumping fast and blood was dribbling from his stomach, no time to think about that now. He put a hand against the wound on his stomach and squat down to Colleen to see if she was alright. Taking her arm gently in his grasp he helped her to her feet and picked up her bag and handed it to her with a smile.
"Thanks, you really saved my life" he said with his slight accent. Looking around he saw Melody hunched down in her praying and as he started taking notice of his surroundings again he heard commotion in another part of the cave. "Colleen" he said, looking back to her "I need to go help the others. See if she is okay and then both of you catch up with me but be careful. " He picked up a club and patted her encouragingly on the arm before trotting away with his hand against his abdomen, and smashing the face of the first caveman he punched for good measure.

Damian didn't know what he'd find, he was hoping the others weren't all dead as he rounded the corner and jogged through the main area of the cave where they had been partying. Looking down deeper into the cave he saw the others, fending the cavemen off pretty well. This was a heartening sight. Damian jogged closer but crouched down when he approached to be sneaky. Once a comfortable distance ha jumped and shouted. He brought the club down on a caveman's head and had startled the others with his shout. Maybe it was time they started winding the party down....AKA kill everyone and get the fuck out.

There were two of the cave men left in the cave with the obelisk. The rest of them were either incapacitated or dead. But for those who were still breathing, they looked up at the stone altar with eyes ablazed. They allowed Damien to leave and help with the others, eyes still hooked onto the structure. Mesmerized they rose as one and stumbled up... The entire chamber started to fill up with low chanting. It was a single voice, deep and low. The acoustics of the cave made the voice louder which in turn made the cave men nervous. They picked up the discarded pikes and kneeled in front of the obelisk. Now their eyes lost the flame and was replaced with fear. Then the chanting stopped and instead a voice boomed throughout the chamber.

"You've failed so I shall take your life as my sacrifice."

They knew death was ahead. Their failure to keep the captives hostage had resulted in this. Their hands lifted of their own accord, moved by invisible strings. The sharp ends of the pikes glimmered in the faint moonlight before it slashed across their necks. Blood oozed at first, then gushing forward in a sickening fountain. The men gurgled, unable to hold their throats. Their hands gripped tightly at the pikes as their lives slowly and painfully ended. Corpses now, they fell face forward onto the stone floor.

A glow emanating from the obelisk filled the chamber. Blue light swirled about on the cave walls but that was all that had happened... Except if one were to walk up to the structure they would hear the faintest of whirring sounds, like gears turning.

Chaos reigned in the main cave chamber where the Doctor, Akila and the others were trying to make sense of all of the commotion. They forced them farther back and it wasn't long before an altar could seen. As the others fought for their lives, the Egyptian woman could not tear her eyes away from it...

The altar was more of a face than a structure... But this, this very same replica of the statues Akila had seen from home, this drove the point home. Someone had the power and the audacity to ruin not this time line but hers as well. Shock, awe and fear coursed through her veins. Seconds after she had made this revelation, a figure rose from the altar bearing the exact resemblance of her God, Akhenathen. Everything from the beard to the head dress and the cane - he wore. On those lips he wore a smirk and his eyes lowered themselves to Akila. The words that poured from his mouth were Egyptian, but all in the cave could understand him, and the girl.

"Akila, my child, the savior of me and our people. The Aten asks for your life in exchange for mine. Bring me home to our people so that I may bring prosperity and fertility back to our lands."

All violence around her and the Doctor ceased and the cave men withdrew to the farthest walls. Men, women, children, they all bowed their heads and fell to the knees. The Egyptian girl too kneeled before her God, who looked so very much like a human. This god had done nothing to help her people, not in the decade that they had worshiped him. But perhaps this was why. He was not at home, but he was here. Yet how did he come here? What was his purpose...?

"...I, I would be honored O Great Aten to give my life in exchange for our people."

The statue moved. His great hand which held the rod unfolded, dropping it in front of Akila. The girl caught it, slicing open her palm. It was not a rod, but a ceramic knife. The engravings on the handle told her that this was a sacrificial weapon. Silently she held the blade to her neck. The Aten glared at the others.

"Will you not help save her time? Or are you just as selfish?"
