Don't worry, you still have at least a month's time to transfer your characters! I'd suggest copying them onto your computer first (if you haven't already) and then proceeding to adding them to your gallery.

Don't have a computer. Luckily I have all my characters up on Amor so if anything were to happen I can just copy and paste from there :). Use my phone for everything lol.

There's nothing in my blog worth keeping but there's also no place to post the one series I had on Iwaku either, so.. Ah well. Not like many people were reading it anyway XD

@Kagayours I know it was already answered but yeah I'd love to see all your TSPAKI (And maybe even Porygon stuff too? XD) in General Chat. So I hope you post it there. =]

Nah. Private conversations are a really vital part of any forum site and are included in the basic XenForo software. At worst we'd lose some of the features that improve them, since we have an add-on that adds a couple neat things to it, but we don't foresee that happening anytime soon either.

I would like to reiterate that we'd love to keep Blogs if it were at all possible. But it's necessary to update the basic forum software in order to keep things from breaking, and Blogs is just too outdated to be compatible anymore.

I've heavily relied on the blogs as a means of storage. Characters, ideas, codes, etc. All of which I made a point to be private and unseen, because I only wanted to store them for the future. Nothing more.

Are the Character sections, and showcases able to be set to private as well? That way only I can view them? I don't remember seeing such a feature in the privacy account section, so I would like to know.

If not then I have to go back to saving things onto Office as plain text like I did years ago. I really don't want to if I can avoid it. Being able to see the coding as intended after hitting submit was nice in comparison.

After a certain point, it just isn't possible to keep something that hasn't been supported for the majority of the past decade - not because we don't want to but because everything else progressing refuses to play nice with something so old.

Unfortunately, the threads like showcasing or character gallery entries don't have adjustable privacy settings. For material that you want to prevent others viewing, posting it to a third party is going to be your best bet at this rate. If it's something that you want to look into, the option that Jorick listed for hosting things with Atabyte should have a great deal more privacy customisation.

Some things, such as roleplay content, could potentially also go into clans with some privacy options but content there is at greater risk of deletion as inactive clans are deleted.

There are also free sites, like Wordpress, which are perfectly valid and also mentioned in the OP. I have a personal blog that uses the Wordpress software and it has a lot of customization options and privacy. I host it with Atabyte which just gives me more freedom to do other things and have a name that doesn't include the .wordpress part.

Additionally, I've looked into Tumblr's features before, which I understand may not be for everyone, but it also provides a simple method for holding anything you wish to write about. (And if you already have a Tumblr account, you can use a secondary blog.
Of course, none of these options are directly integrated to Iwaku itself unfortunately. But you can always post a link on your profile, for instance, leading to your newest post if you have more content than will fit on-site. ^^

If you are a major content writer, be it characters, stories, plots, or just writing a journal get an offsite blog. It will be the best thing you ever did.
No matter what roleplay site you go to, your content is not going to stay there forever. Content gets deleted, addons get unfunded, sites even get shut down. You NEVER know what is going to happen to your favorite site, even if it's ran by super awesome people.

After I accidentally deleted the databases of more than one roleplay community (including Iwaku -coughcough-), I started my own personal blog to store all of my roleplay stuff. O_O I have a domain I pay for, but there are A FUCKTON of free options out there. My personal favorite is Wordpress.com because you can import this content if you ever decide to get your own domain. It also has privacy controls, categories, and lots of organization options. ( @ObsidianNyx you sound like someone who writes a ton and needs a serious blog option! Give wordpress a shot! It IS free!)

Another great thing about hosting your personal content on your own site is that you can link it ANYWHERE. So if you ever decide to leave Iwaku, or if you love hanging out on multiple roleplay sites, you can easily share this content between all the sites.

I personally love the fact that it's mine and I can do whatever the fuck I want with it without having to follow the rules of someone else's website. >:D All the porn I want. I know it sucks not getting to keep stuff tidy on Iwaku, but honestly, you are limited by Iwaku's Content Policies, even for personal journal entries. Iwaku's rules are VERY open and lax, but there's still rules required to keep the site safe and I just like having the freedom to do what I want with my writing.

From a quick sampling, @Kagayours, any of those blogs would be absolutely fine as individual GC threads. I wouldn't bat an eyelash at seeing any of those there. They wouldn't really belong in Showcasing though.

:/ The problem wasn't that I didn't think they'd be allowed in GC. It's that I'd feel weird about posting them someplace that implies that they'd be "discussion" threads. Like, I don't mind a few comments here and there, it's just... I dunno how I feel about larger discussions spinning off of them.

And then, if there aren't discussions happening, then they'll sink to the bottom of the thread list and become archived in almost no time. And then there won't be any easy way to keep them all together for easy access. So then it just feels like... I dunno. I'm not sure it would be worth it anymore to put in the effort to write them (at least not the more involved entries), only for them to quickly be buried, archived, and forgotten.

Plus, seeing a thread in GC get no replies and sink to the bottom so quickly just feels... awkward?? I don't even have any words to articulate it very well. It just feels weird. :/

Basically, I'd feel weird about them not getting comments, but then also feel weird about them getting lots of comments, and, overall, I just don't like the feel of moving those blog entries to GC, because it's just a very different experience than what I currently get from the blog feature. Which is why I was hoping to put them in Showcasing, as that felt more fitting for how I wanted the blog entries to be seen (not to mention, I wouldn't have to worry about them being buried or archived so quickly). But if Showcasing isn't an appropriate place to put them (and I'm not going to argue against you on that, as I totally understand your reasoning), then... oh well. :/ I'm certainly not expecting you to conjure up some better alternative just because I personally feel weird about using GC for some inexplicable reason. And if there's no other place on Iwaku where I feel comfortable posting the series, then, that kinda sucks, I guess. But I'll get over it.
