Once upon a better time we understood this world.

Once upon a better time we remembered our history, our past.

But no longer.

fragment_3.jpg

Welcome to the shattered World of Iwaku.

The timeline has fragmented, history has crumbled. The Cycle barely holds itself together, caught in an endless stuttering of chaos and destruction. The very land itself has been broken into fragments of what it once was, floating islands circling above a bottomless abyss. On each of these islands parts of our history are preserved, but they are isolated and alone; until they are reunited we will never be able to recall the ages that have already passed us by.

fragment_1.jpg

We are caricatures of what we once were, actors and posers desperately attempting to re-enact a half-remembered play. Until history is reassembled we will remain in this state, trapped in an endless limbo where we are doomed to make the mistakes of the past again and again.

So we are trapped in this cycle, blind to the past and denied the future.

And until the heroes of the past can rise again to forge together again the shattered Iwaku, trapped we shall remain.

'Iwaku Shattered' is a post-apocalyptic take on the Iwaku World and the Iwaku Mythos. In the aftermath of the Absolute War the realm has been shattered, literally and figuratively, into fragments. History Isle has been destroyed and without it none can remember what came before this age. The floating islands that Iwaku has been broken into remain locked in a permanent state of war for reasons they can no longer remember, the faltering Cycle refusing to allow the bloodshed to end.

Players take the role of their Mythos personas, or even take up new characters entirely, who are trapped in this post-apocalyptic Iwaku. The nature of the world means that each of these characters are fundamentally changed in many ways, unable as they are to recall their pasts. Mortal enemies are now allies, lovers despise each other, powers and abilities have changed but remain similar to what they used to be.

The central plot shall follow the attempts of a group of characters trying to reassemble pieces of history in order to reconstruct History Isle and free Iwaku from the state it finds itself trapped within. Such an endeavour will see them travelling all across the broken realm whilst facing off against a mysterious conspiracy that seeks to keep Iwaku in the turmoil it is in.

THE STORY UNFOLDS HERE...

IMPORTANT GAME INFORMATION

THE FOUR POWERS

CONFLUENCE
Anything based on science and realism.
Confluence is a power-source based on the laws of physics and narrative - two systems which heavily control the story-world that is Iwaku. By "laws of narrative", this means the realistic telling of a story. Confluence stops unexplained things and random events from ruining the plot-line, and ensures total realism.

The weakness of Confluence is that you are subject to that same rules of realism and can often fall foul of them.

The greatest user of this power was Asmodeus, who was able to create an area of effect that removed all unnatural powers from his enemies. He was also unable to be defeated by anyone who had not suffered and earned the right to be a true hero. But in the end it destroyed him, as his own Confluence powers eroded the angelic powers that had made him mighty.

Examples: Any realistic firearm and combat training; Any non-magical biological ability for your race that can be explained by scientific laws; Anything that enforces cause and effect.

REALITY-BENDING
Anything that can't be explained.
If Confluence represents the story, then Reality-Bending represents the re-writing of the story. Reality-Bending is where things happen without logic or cause. It is similar to Chaos Theory. The power comes from sheer will and random desire.

The weakness of Reality-Bending is similar to Confluence, in that you can become the victim of your own powers if you let the chaos get out of hand.

The greatest user of this power was Paorou-Sama, who was able to save parts of the old Iwaku and keep them behind the Mirror as the Realm of Insanity. He now rules there according to nothing but his own whims, but suffers from the fact that he cannot exist beyond the Mirror because of the amount of Reality-Bending he has performed.

Examples: Anything that seems to come out of nowhere, like returning from the dead, summoning bizarre objects, making things happen without reason. Or exploiting narrative rules, such as strolling out of a building because explosions only happen when the hero is running from it.

DREAMWEAVING
Anything that uses magical power sources.
Dreamweaving is more along the lines of traditional magic. It is a power drawn from realms beyond the physical world, including the elemental planes, the realm of the dead, the shadow planes, heaven, hell, past, future, and so forth. A Dreamweaver must tap that power and draw it into his own world before shaping it into something of use.

The weakness of Dreamweaving is that it requires a link to the other realm. This link can be severed, hijacked or go haywire if your channeling is disturbed.

The greatest user of this power was Rory, who was a master of time-travel, dream-walking and invocation. His greatest feat was summoning the Goddess of Iwaku into mortal form - a deed for which he earned his place as King of the Realm.

Examples: Necromancy, Shadow-manipulation, elemental magic, holy powers, infernal powers, shape-shifting, spontaneous healing.

SOULARTS
Anything drawn from the soul.
If Dreamweaving is the power from beyond, then SoulArts is the power from WITHIN. It is based upon the soul, the powers that are deep within the essence of who you are. The lesser known of the styles, SoulArt powers are often channeled through emotions and desires, and can range from empathic healing to hateful telekinesis. They can also manifest in Soul-Blades: weapons that literally embody a user's soul.

The weakness of SoulArts is that it comes completely from your own body, so if you are injured or drugged or unconscious, those powers can be interrupted. It is also based upon strong desires, so your emotions must be in tune with what you want.

The greatest user of SoulArts was Porg, who was able to tap a huge range of powers from within his soul, helping him to achieve feats of heroism according to his heart's desire.

Examples: Second chances, lucky breaks, inhuman endurance, regeneration, great speed, heightened senses, berserk triggers, mind-affect powers.

THE FATE LINES
THE HERO
The Hero Fate Line is the most obvious in Iwaku - a tendency for people to make a stand against evil, to face darkness, and to create light.

In all of history, the only character known to have harnessed the Hero Line was Homac, the creator of the current realm, but he lost it very quickly and so had to fall back on false claims of godhood. No one else has ever successfully harnessed the Pattern, leading many to believe that the Hero of Iwaku has yet to arise.

Almost every culture has the concept of a hero - an individual who chooses to aspire to beyond their community and beyond the constraints placed upon them. The Hero is typically a long-suffering character who is forced to protect the things he loves and sacrifice his pride in the process.

THE SHADOW
The Shadow is the opposite Fate Line to the Hero. It produces villains, antagonists and everything that opposes heroic qualities. It is the darkness, the psychosis and the madness that unleashes suffering.

Many believe that Paorou-Sama is the current vessel of the Shadow Fate Line, due to his long history as antagonist to the people of Iwaku. There have also been others, such as Asmodeus and Razilin, who at times embody a total opposition to the Iwakuan way of life.

The Shadow is typically the worst parts of a hero - one who is arrogant, uncaring and devious. He is the monster that the Hero will become if he gives up on himself. Shadows and Anti-Heroes are one and the same - a power and a brilliance corrupted by the world and the character's own fears.

THE MENTOR
The Mentor Fate Line is one of the strongest and at the same time one of the most inconspicious tendencies of the Cycle. It is a force of teaching, training and guidance.

It has been harnessed at different times by CoffeeCakeSadist, Reikei, Woodrat and others. The Mentor Line is a force of teaching, wisdom and intellectual enlightenment. It follows the course of the Hero Line closely, inspiring and energizing it. Some have theorised that the Hero Line consistently breaks down into the Mentor Fate Line, meaning potential heroes lose the ability to act and instead become wise overseers, hoping to inspire others to succeed where they have failed.

The Mentor is typically one with the intelligence and power to become a Hero or Shadow, but with the wisdom to avoid the corruption and sacrifice such paths would bring.

THE SOULMATE
The most powerful after the Hero Line, the Soulmate Line represents the opposite gender to the hero. It is the force of alternatives, inspiration, new thinking and love. As such, it is often called "The Muse" and has a tendency to inspire the artists and philosophers of Iwaku.

Many have harnessed the Soulmate Line, including Queen Bonny, Simica, Peridox and Ana'Thil. But the greatest so far has been Fluffy, who achieved a full embodiement of the Line during the Admin War and was hailed as the vessel of the Goddess.

The Soulmate is typically a companion who suffers beside the hero, challenging them and loving them in equal measure.

THE TRICKSTER
The Trickster Fate Line is the playful and mischievous aspect of the world - the side that doesn't take things too seriously and is able to subvert and cut others down to size.

Many despise Tricksters as prattling fools who do not understand the seriousness of the situation. But like the jesters of old and the hanged man of the Tarot, these so-called fools are perhaps the wisest of all. They retain the power to laugh and see absurdity, and even as they are beaten they smile, for they know that joy will triumph over rage and grief.

King Rory has the best understanding of the Trickster Line and has managed to tap many realms of this energy, controlling the Fate Line's operation across Iwaku. A typical trickster offers comic relief and a carefree viewpoint to the ongoing adventure.

THE HERALD

The weakest of the Fate Lines, but no less important, the Herald Line is the tendency towards revelations and discoveries, the source of new information and callings.

The Herald Line was harnessed most effectively by Gabriel Zero when he first drew together the borders of the kingdom and spread the word of Iwaku. Since his passing, few others have used this energy effectively, with only passing attempts from Torsty and Asmodeus. The Line allows travel to the realms beyond Iwaku.

A typical herald learns the lessons of history and preaches them to the masses, warning them of the dangers to come.

THE ALLY
The Ally Fate Line is a source of cooperation, loyalty and aid. Like the spirit guides of ancient warriors, the Allies represent the noble parts of a hero - the things worth fighting for, such as courage, loyalty, friendship, humility. Only by surrounding himself with Allies can a Hero remember what it is that he is fighting for.

It is currently used most effectively by Diana, who has been a longstanding ally of Iwaku. It has also been seen in Captain Nic, Warmaster Death and Kitti. The Ally Line has allowed Iwaku to survive many disasters through the aid of third parties.

A typical Ally helps his friends with humility, never complaining too much or seeking reward for himself. He runs errands for those more capable than him and knows his place in the grand scheme of things.

THE GUARDIAN
The Guardian Line is one of the strongest patterns behind the power of Confluence.

It has been seen in characters such as Razilin, Chaos and Soulless. It is a Line that produces obstacles to the other Lines - hurdles that must be overcome and trials that must be passed.

Many believe that the Nerf Rebellions were caused by an excessive concentration of this Guardian energy. Indeed, many of the pitfalls and challenges of Iwaku history can be blamed upon the Guardian Line, from the Nerf Rebellion to Asmodeus's madness.

A typical Guardian presents a challenge to others, a hurdle that must be overcome. Symbolically, he represents bad part of the Hero - an embodied sin or fear that must be overcome.

WORLD INFORMATION
The term 'post-apocalypse' can stir up many images in the mind; a lonely wanderer travelling down an empty, barren road, the remains of ancient cities that have been reduced to rubble, nature beginning to reclaim what civilisation once held.

The world of 'Iwaku Shattered' incorporates many of these aspects into its setting. Set in the aftermath of the Absolute War, known to most people in the world as “The Shattering”, the realm of Iwaku truly is as broken as the title states, literally and metaphorically. No longer is there a solid land-mass; instead there are fragments of the land-mass that once existed, literal shards of the land of Iwaku, floating above a vast abyss of darkness and destruction, the aftermath of the terrible weapons utilised in the war that came before. These fragments vary in size and scale; some are massive and contain a variety of regions, whilst some are merely chunks of rock floating above the swirling abyss.

Movement between these fragments is difficult, but some enterprising individuals are capable of doing so via airships. This has given rise to some fragments becoming ports, settlements where some trade is conducted. Geographical knowledge is a rare thing, and often it is an imprecise art; the fragments move and shift above the abyss (in some cases even crashing into one another and causing even more chaos) making tracking your destination a difficult art, though some do have the ability.

Life in the world of Iwaku Shattered is harsh, brutal and often short; diseases run rampant across the fragments, killing indiscriminately, food and clean water is always in demand and there are always those willing to take advantage of you for their own personal gain; raiders and bandits are common aspects to the world. People congregate into settlements and tribes as there is safety in numbers, giving rise to xenophobia and fear of outsiders. Most people live out their short, painful lives as ignorant savages, the history of the world they live in lost to them.

But then history is lost to everyone in this broken realm; History Isle has been desecrated, it's location lost to the mysteries of time. Most cannot recall the past at all, and even the wiser ones can only recall smatterings of our history, passed down in folk stories and songs. As such, those who once were the greatest of enemies can now live alongside each other happily, ignorant of their shared history, and the best of friends and lovers can walk by one another without any recollection of whom the other is. The abilities people once held have in many cases been altered by the Shattering, changed and in some cases corrupted. They remain on a similar theme, but are no longer the same.

One can find relics of the old world that came before this one if one knows where to look; abandoned settlements, ancient technology, old secrets. All have suffered from the effects of mistreatment and the damages of the war, and often they have been utilised by survivors for various purposes contrary to what they were originally intended for. One thing that is noticeably missing from the world is Iwaku City; one can find remnants of the outskirts on some of the northern fragments, but the city itself has vanished and none can recall where it has gone.

The war that left Iwaku in this state was devastating and widespread in its effects upon the world, yet even now it technically still rages; the factions who tore the world asunder still fight and make war against one another. Yet the loss of history has affected them as it has affected the rest of the world. They can barely recall what they are fighting over, what grievance they have against the other sides; all they know is that they are mortal enemies locked in a struggle against one another, sucking up more fighters every day, an eternal war brought about by a faltering cycle.

Organisation and structure are things almost unheard of in this broken region. Whilst some scattered communities with basic infrastructures do exist, they are few and far between; the majority of people in this world live in isolation from their fellow Iwakuans, cut off from the rest of society. A few basic trade routes exist, travelled by enterprising airship captains in search of profit in this apocalyptic land, but again these are rare.

The further south one travels, the more one risks coming into contact with fragments and people corrupted by the bleed of Insanity. Insanity is one of the most deadly diseases in the world of 'Iwaku Shattered', polluting and shifting the land into twisted horrors and corrupting the minds of those who contract it, turning them into raving lunatics and murderous psychopaths. As such, most try to avoid going south as much as possible, for fear of being exposed to the disease itself or those who are under its influence.

Such is the world of Iwaku Shattered.

THREATS
This section will be updated with a roster of the dangers and antagonists of the world of Iwaku Shattered as the characters come across them. If you have any suggestions or would like to put forward an idea for a kind of threat/antagonist, please feel free to PM me; I love it when players offer input to these sort of games.

The scariest kind of bandit is the organised bandit. And the sky-pirates known as the ISAF are the most organised of the lot. Flying out from the small fragment known as Scrap-Iron Fortress in vast airships, these privateers and raiders descend upon rural settlements and trade ships, ransacking and looting anything of value. By no means are they brutal thugs, however; these pirates pride themselves upon their efficiency and skill at arms. They are infamous for their involvement in the slave trade, often taking prisoners in their raids and selling them on for profits.

The Collectors are as mysterious as they are terrifying. Wearing gas-masks and wielding whatever weapons they can scavenge, these enigmatic monsters attack settlements that stray too close to the south of the shattered realm of Iwaku, slaughtering and killing without regret or mercy. They are known for the particularly slow, brutal deaths they inflict upon their victims and for the fact that they are relentless in their pursuit of prey. They have earned their name, however, from their other victims, the people they abduct and drag back to their ships for purposes unknown. Few survive Collector attacks, and no-one knows the purpose for which they abduct others, for none of the kidnapped have ever returned.

CAST LIST

Name: Na'ava Iadosth
Race/Class/Type: Cambion
Based Upon:
Appearance:
afa0defb259bf7e52c966d94673300bac49d5ae4.jpg

Normal Equipment: Claw blade gauntlets, a small rucksack with foodstuffs and important trinkets.
Special Equipment: Sword of Merceris: Demonic blade that singes the flesh of any other that attempts to use it. Lighter than average swords but just as strong with a burning touch, it requires tapping into her talents to use, else it's heavy and of much less use.

General Abilities: An accomplished swordsman with great constitution, Na'ava can take a beating and keep on going. As a half-demon, she is impervious to human illnesses.
Special Abilities:
By channeling powers from the nether plane, Na'ava gains a hardened shell coating of fiery crust that increases her size to roughly eight feet in height and incorporates her gauntlets as beast's claws. To channel this, she must be wearing her gauntlets and sacrifice her autonomy briefly, since it requires her pairing with another demon from the nether realm. Her mind is halved in this case and she only has enough control to direct the creature and specify one to two people that are not to be harmed. The infernal beast has a mindset akin to a beserker - kill everything in the path.
As the daughter of a demon prince, Na'ava can call form the nether plane one of the demons of her realm to help her fight. The largest, most powerful demons will not be summoned by her, since she is but a half-demon but the minor demons are thrall to her call. She can only summon one at a time and must have complete concentration to do so, with her hands unbound to invoke her bloodline and an object with which to draw blood.
Weaknesses:
Na'ava can't swim and contact with water lasting more than a couple minutes will leave her with damage, the result being much like a fire and burns to an average human.
With an immense lifespan comes... zero sense of urgency. She just doesn't get what the big rush is for and being forced to hurry really puts her in a sour mood. She can't concentrate with all the rushing, so if you want her to do something it's best not to push her into making it fast.

Personality: Ever teasing and witty, Na'ava has a dark sense of humor but she's willing to joke about anything, all the time. She's rarely serious and when forced to tone it down, will still likely offer sarcastic responses and tongue-in-cheek remarks. She craves company and friendship, since her heritage leaves her often shunned.

In the remains of what was Iwaku, the planes became unusually close for a time around the wrecked Insanity Tower. This led to demons proliferating in the area, terrorizing the humans who happened to be near. The conception of Na'ava was a less than romantic one, but her mother became enraptured by the demon sire of the child and followed him around slavishly. This behavior did not cease when the child was born, an infant with glowing eyes and ethereally light, downy hair atop her head.

The demon killed the mother of the child and even took to raising her for a time. This was, however, more difficult than he expected and he instead forced her care onto another human woman, who cared for the little girl as though she were her own mother. When Na'ava was still young, but a proper child, the demon took her away once more to force her to learn skills with fighting since he was opposed to any child with his blood being disgraced in battle.

A rough affection developed between Na'ava and her father but she retained a love for the woman who raised her, a mere human living in the waste and fearing for her life. When Na'ava returned from her training, her sword and gauntlets gifts from her father, she found that her surrogate mother had been slain by bandits and raiders. Furious, Na'ava's first act was to enrage and slay the group of raiders that had murdered the woman. After that, however, she was lost as to what to do.

For a time, Na'ava wandered the land with little purpose. With her surrogate mother's memory in her mind, however, she vowed to restore the land to its former glory, which her mother had spoken of as bedtime stories when she was a little girl. She would make the world a more beautiful place in tribute to the woman she had called Mother.

Name: Raziel
Race/Class/Type: Human
Based Upon: N/A
Appearance:

Raziel.png

Normal Equipment: Simple coat the doubles as light armor. Sword. Revolver.
Special Equipment: None

General Abilities: Tougher and faster than the average man, immune to many of the plagues that seem to drift over the ruins of civilization.
Special Abilities:

Shattered Space (Soul Arts):

Minor Use: The burden of an incomplete soul is a heavy one to bare and Raziel is only able to do so because he knows no other way. But he can force that feeling on another. Only those of superhuman will can shake off the effects of such hollowness and incompleteness.

Major Use: The unnatural incompleteness seeps into reality itself for an uncontrollable and random effect that seeps over a wide area. The effect and size of the area varies. A secondary effect of the aura is any sentient creature within it is assaulted with the same effects as the minor use.

Weaknesses: Mild addiction to painkillers. He must take them once a week or he begins shaking and is tormented by ghost pains and hallucinations leading up to abject paranoia.

Personality:

Detached and reluctant to let anyone into his trust though one thing is immediately apparent, he searching for something, something he'd put his life on the line to find. Deep down he knows theres very little chance shes alive. He keeps his face uncovered so theres a chance she'd recognize him if by chance they met spurred on by the knowledge that if he closes his eyes and thinks back, he can't remember her face.

History: The simple fact of the matter is as sad as it is definitive in his quest. Raziel never had a sister. But she is not entirely the product of an overactive imagination. Raziel's soul is a mere piece of a complete entity shattered long ago. His mind in its confusion rationalized the ache and need to find the rest of himself, a female entity cut from the same block as himself as a lost twin and his life in the wasted from the moment he came into existence has been to find this other half of himself. He has no memory of the world ever being any different than it is now.

Name: Aeolus
Race/Class/Type: Wanderer
Based Upon: N/A

Normal Equipment: Handgun, Travelling Clothes, Staff, Lute, Messenger Bag containing supplies
Special Equipment: None

General Abilities: Unnatural strength and agility, immunity from disease and illness, skilled lute player
Special Abilities: Aeolus's body is covered with strange, shifting tattoos that act as maps to locations she seeks and as sources of wisdom when she requires consultation. [SOUL-ARTS]

Weaknesses:
 • The Mission First – Aeolus is driven to find a way to restore the world of Iwaku to it's former glory to the point that it's essentially an obsession. She's willing to do whatever it takes to complete it... even if that means sacrificing those who also seek to save this world. As such, she comes across as distant and sometimes cold towards her companions. Not because she dislikes them, but because she knows that one day she may well have to betray them all for the greater good.
 • Hunted – There are things after Aeolus for what she knows and her abilities. Dark, dangerous things that will stop at nothing to claim her. As such, she's always on the run from these enemies, always watching over one shoulder for danger.

Personality: Distant, quick-witted, driven, determined, and borderline obsessive. She has a dry, sharp sense of humour and something of a temper about her at times, speaking with a strange drawling at times that she claims she doesn't know the source of.
History: Aeolus is fairly quiet on her past. Likely she recalls little of it. She's one of the few people to have travelled across much of Iwaku and knows her way around the world better than some.

She is also one of the few people in the world who knows of the existence of the ruins of History Isle.

Through the tattoos on her body, Aeolus hopes to find a way to reach the ruins and discover a way to piece back together the history of Iwaku, freeing the world from the turmoil it is locked within. She cannot do it alone, however, and so is travelling in search of companions for her quest.

Name: Cyanide
Race/Class/Type: Shapeshifter
Based Upon: Cyanide (Azazel)
Appearance: Cyanide has never had a single form, however after the Shattering it began using one particular form quite often. This form being a fragment of its past that revealed itself to it in a dream.

attachment.php

Normal Equipment: A sack full of small trinkets, mostly worthless. These are all that it really has left from the past, things that throughout its many years it collected and fill a sort of timeline of the past, if one only knew what order to put them in.
Special Equipment: A book, only openable by Cyanide, if it could only remember how.

General Abilities: An uncanny knack for retaining information.
Special Abilities:
[REALITY BENDING]

 • Immortality: Cyanide has been alive for an unknown length of time, and is generally considered immortal. However, this is partly a fluke. Its ability to shapeshift into a younger/healthier form is the reasoning behind its longevity. Theoretically, if he discovered a form which contained true immortality, then this constant changing would not be required to keep him alive.
 • Osmosis: Cyanide can transfer its shapeshifting abilities to things it touches. For instance, a blade of grass can quickly become a rather sharp, yet very green longsword.

Weaknesses: A mixture of its power and the Shattering has left Cyanide's mind broken and confused. Knowledge and history was is its life. However during the shattering it lost all memory of what came before. This loss of knowledge has left it lost, floating about a world it no longer understands. It's power, the constant changing of names and forms, genders and races has left it in a state of mind which it knows not what or who it is. It has become a victim of its own abilities.

Personality: Socially awkward, Cyanide has problems simply being around and conversing with people. Yet due to all of its lack of social life, it could spit back out in exact wording anything pushed in front of it to read.
History: The days since the Shattering have been long and dull. Cyanide has spent them making ends meet with odd jobs, or simply stealing what it needs. It has also spent the days relearning the finer arts of using its ability to the degree of mastery as before the Shattering.

Name: Cressen Davos
Race/Class/Type: Undead/Necromancer/Outcast
Based Upon:N/A

Appearance:
39536ef3e2.jpg

Normal Equipment:A long sword with a bone handle and a half white skull at the end of the hilt which shows not only that he is an necromancer but an outcast as well. A medium sized animal hide ruinsack that he carries is essentials in.
Special Equipment: A spirit blade that he carries inside the sleeve of his left arm.

General Abilities: Tracking, and operation of vechiles.
Special Abilities: Necromancy with the abilities of raising the dead, body possesion, soul binding and regeneration (Dreamweaving)

Weaknesses:

Burden- Possession plays a heavy toll on both his mind and soul. He can hold each possession for a different length of time. If held for to long Davos risks either becoming brain dead or having his soul destroyed.

Permenant death- If either his binding circle or heart is removed and not redrawn in his blood or replaced within two minutes, Cressen will remain dead.

Regeneration- Cressen is not able to regenerate any body part that is completely destroyed, (Being undead and all) but is able to place limbs both his own and foreign and reattached it. This does not include the heart, lungs or a new head, must be his head that gets put back also within the twi minute limit.

Personality: Cressen is a private guy and often keeps to himself when in crowds and tries to avoid large towns. He will at times help others, but mostly when he thinks it will benefit him in some way.

History:
All Cressen remembers about his past is isolation, his first death by the hands of a necromancer and the fact that he bound his own soul to his body. Not remembering anything else, he searches for his past and the man who killed him.

DECEASED

Name: The Crimson Three
Race/Class/Type: Human soldiers
Based Upon: Jake, Marvin and Spears, from the Elder Invasion.
three.png

<table><tr><td width=175 align="center">Marvin</td><td width=184 align="center">Sergeant Spears</td><td width=198 align="center">Jake</td></tr></table>

Normal Equipment: Spears (M16A2 rifle, sidearm, frag grenades, combat knife). Marvin (M16A2 rifle, flashlight, medical kit). Jake (sidearm, assorted tools)
Special Equipment: Digital camera holding documentary evidence of the Elder Homeworld.

General Abilities: Spears is fearless. Marvin can drive tanks. Jake is a good engineer.
Special Abilities: None

Weaknesses: Spears is fearless. Marvin is a coward. Jake has a bad back.

Personality: Spears is a drill-sergeant with a death wish, prone to pseudo-religious trances. Marvin is a cigar-smoking paranoiac, looking for an easy life. Jake is a humble family man, who doesn't complain about anything.

Three soldiers whom fate has repeatedly thrown together. Spears was a drill sergeant with the intensity of a religious maniac. Jake was a family man with an aversion to violence. And Marvin was a gambling-addicted tank gunner with claustrophobia. Spears took it as his personal mission to make the other two into soldiers, and as such the three of them were stranded together during the first Elder attack on Scrap Iron City.

Cut off from command and isolated on the streets of Moscow Town, the three men decided that, rather than fleeing, they would take the fight to one of the Spiders. With a combination of heroism and blind luck they overcame a squad of Noobs and planted C4 charges on one of the Elders. But in the ensuing explosion the machine's teleportation device activated and all three soldiers were dragged into the jump-stream.

They ended up in the place now classifed as Location X... the source of the Elder menace. With Jake injured, Spears and Marvin investigated the cave system and were the first to witness the great machine city constructed by Diana. Hitching a ride on her flagship, the three men made it home to Iwaku and, after recording documentary evidence that linked Diana to the Elder Invasion, they escaped from the ship and went into hiding in Iwaku City. But with Jake on the edge of death, Spears was forced to buy the services of a healer.

The price? A copy of the video recording.

Spears sold the intelligence in order to save Jake's life. And with that evidence the anti-Diana factions were able to justify the cataclysmic war that devoured Iwaku. Spears, Jake and Marvin were stranded as the last ISAF frigate evacuated Iwaku, and they are now still wandering, and still recovering from their harrowing adventure.

Name: Grandmaster Karsikan Banrae
Race/Class/Type: Grey Knight Space Marine
Based Upon: See Name
attachment.php

Normal Equipment:

A tattered red cloak that bears the sigil of the Grey Knights and hemmed with white embroidery

Special Equipment:

Nemesis Sword - capable of slicing through anything short of a tank, and shattering the mind with the smallest scratch.
Shattered Aegis - Badly damaged in battle, the suit has been patched several times, but several key components are damaged beyond repair.
The suit is no longer environmentally sealed, it's pain suppressants have long since been expended, and it's helmet has been too badly damaged to be anything more than scrap metal.
Chaplain's Rosarius - A holdover from his previous station, The power field is long burnt out, but it's still a potent holy symbol
Impaler Crossbow - a Siege crossbow crafted by Karsikan himself, thrice blessed.
Impaler bolts - Also crafted and blessed by Karsikan, each of these are the size of a spear and when fired from the Impaler crossbow, they are highly potent against Daemons.
Grimoire of True Names - An ancient leather bound tome that holds the true names of numerous daemons, from minion to master.

General Abilities:
Karsikan has been trained in every aspect of war that can be imagined, being a Grandmaster among the imperium's greatest chapter of space marines, and a former Black Templar, he is an unsurpassed swordsman. Work in his previous chapter has taught him a great deal about virtually any kind of alien biology imaginable.

Special Abilities:

(Dreamweaving)
Psyker - Karsikan is a Psyker, with a particular skill with the Biomancy Discipline, granting him the ability to control and manipulate his own body, as well as the bodies of others, for bane or benefit as he sees fit.

(Soul Arts)
Undying Faith - Karsikan's faith in the emperor of mankind can push him beyond what even his superhuman physique can handle, to the point where he seems almost insane.

Weaknesses:

Perils of the Warp - All psykers are subject to the fickle whips of the empyrean every time they use a psychic power, at the best of times it unnerves those around him, at the worst it can breach the veil entirely and open a rift in the very fabric of reality.

Personality:
Karsikan comes across as aloof most of the time, having very little in common with humanity anymore. Those that breach this outer shell will find him a kind, albeit stern, older brother figure with an unbreakable will. Like all space marines he experiences all emotions more powerfully than the humans they were created from.

History: Karsikan crash landed on Iwaku during the early stages of the Elder invasion, and remembers what little of iwaku's history he was introduced to before the world shattered, being an Astartes he was drawn into conflict after conflict, always following his heart rather than any pressures or threats placed upon him. He remembers the world shattering, but has only guesses as to it's cause, and the chaos of the event was too much for even his superhuman mind to fully process.

[dash=#856363]Name: Regent Zypher
Race/Class/Type: AFTAn Crown-Regent Gunslinger
Based Upon: Zypher Hamasaki from the end of the Elder Invasion.

Normal Equipment: Zypher keeps twin pistols with him at all times, aside from that he has a ceremonial crown that he had found from somewhere, as well as his clothing and a couple of pouches that hang off his hips to hold his handgun magazines. Zypher also has quite a number of bullets for his guns.
Special Equipment: Zypher has a SpaceK Technology jacket which essentially doubles as light armor protecting his arms and back, torso too if he keeps the front zipped up.

General Abilities:
Trick Shot: Zypher can shoot in many different ways, making his bullets hit their marks from strange angles and areas. He can fire from the hip, behind his back, backwards, over the shoulder and even bounce bullets off surfaces to hit his mark.

Acrobatic: Zypher is light on his feet and nimble in his movements. He can do tricks and moves on his feet quickly and can use them in conjunction with his shooting.

Special Abilities: Enchanted Ammo: Zypher can enchant his ammo to fire bullets that can affect even incorporeal creatures and creatures that normally are only affected by magical means. Doing this takes a rather long process and requires intense concentration, as such he usually enchants his ammo before loading it as it is nigh impossible to do so as he is fighting.
Dreamweaving

Weaknesses: Zypher is physically weaker then normal, allowing all of his abilities in his speed, nimbleness and guns. If stuck without his guns he is pretty defenseless other then dodging.

Personality: Outwardly Zypher is a rather friendly and talkative, willing to share a laugh and some conversation with those he meets. He can also be rather meticulous about certain things that he learns and can devote surprising amounts of attention to things he deems worthy of knowing. On the other hand Zypher is known to be a bit...unstable. If he gets irritated he will gladly put a bullet across your shoulder, maybe nick your ear, never in an attempt to cause major harm but usually enough to startle or scare people.

History: Zypher has vague recollections about his past, and it's all been boiled down to him remembering that he was once a knight for a kingdom far away before having made many encounters in the strange world of Iwaku. Somewhere along the lines, however, he remembered he was given the "Right to Lead" by one named Rory after an intense fight in an other world and when he emerged he was given the title of Crown-Regent by someone Zypher could only faintly remember. How he ended up floating on this tower from what appeared to belong once to a mighty castle is anybody's guess.

Name: Chanter
Race/Class/Type: Necro Girl
Based Upon: Yes.

Normal Equipment: A faded jacket with a high collar.
Special Equipment: Nothing at present.

General Abilities: Chanter has a catlike quickness and reflexes, as well as immunity to all the various and sundry maladies of Iwaku.
Special Abilities: As she understands it, Chanter can manipulate the bones of her own body, reshaping and growing them as she pleases. Some of her favorite tricks, for example, include growing bestial claws and snakelike fangs. This is all part and parcel of her SoulArts mastery, and she doesn't quite realize the full extent of her abilities yet.
She also can't be permanently killed; her body resurrects itself, although she loses some or all of her memories in the process.

Weaknesses:

Frailty - Chanter's constitution isn't the greatest. Despite her resistance to disease and ability to mend her own bones, she is physically frail and can be taken out of commission with minimal beat-down or through overexertion.

Street Mindset - Much like an animal raised on the streets, Chanter has certain habits and instincts that interfere with her ability to respond properly to a situation. Food comes first and is worth fighting over. Others are not to be trusted implicitly. Things that are hers are hers and touching them is a challenge. Sudden movements or aggression may trigger a defensive reaction via threatening display.

Calcium Deficiency - Too much bone-shaping on Chanter's part can deplete her body's store of calcium. When she reaches this point, she'll need time to replenish it.

Personality: Somewhat feral, Chanter is a tomboyish stray who scrapes by on instinct and calculation. Underneath her facade of savvy and grit lies a soul troubled by scrambled memories and a deep sense of something lost, something which she is driven to hunt to the ends of the earth for.
Her story is a long and interesting tale, one that gets a little complicated and tricky. She came to Iwaku from another realm, but not as Chanter. She was... practically something else entirely. The being she was then was struck down, shattered along with Iwaku, her own weapon turned against her.

But not wholly gone. Something remained, something with all of her power and none of her memories. Something that became a terrible threat. Something that was sealed away, for a very long time, until it found a way out and was born anew, biding its time inside of its new body. It found opportunities, and it struck when the time was right... only to be defeated once and for all, leaving behind the body and the bit of itself that recalled her former true nature.

And then, she too met fate. But not all was lost, for her body revived itself from death, with memories yet more muddled. All she found herself with was a need to find a missing piece of her mind's jigsaw puzzle, and a single word- No, not a word. A name, or what was left of one, a sorry splinter of a former life.

Chanter.

SU is up! x]

Name: Acquariana
Race/Class/Type: Blessed Human/Wandering Musician
Based Upon: Acquariana from the Elder Invasion/Acqua Dalca's history (mostly the bit about how Stefani's spell essentially created more than one Acqua and thus split her powers) Appearance:

ia_vocaloid_render_by_bila_sama-d4hp3e7.png

Normal Equipment:
- A satchel with a couple of bottled flasks to hold water: The satchel itself is used to hold whatever food or special equipment she possesses that she isn’t wearing or carrying

- A silver necklace with a large, tear-shaped pink sapphire: The gem used to be blue but was altered when the Cycle was tampered with. She does not remember how she obtained it or who it came from but for some reason she holds it very dear to her heart.

Special Equipment:
- The gem in her necklace: its role in her powers is currently unknown, but it always becomes the blue hue it once was when she begins to sing

- Hover shoes: Her shoes possess technology that reduces the amount of gravity in a small field around Acqua so that she can hover a couple feet above the ground, make longer and higher than normal jumps for a human, and be overall more agile.

-A mic: Not based on electricity, it responds to Acqua’s inner feelings and amplifies them so that her voice during her skills carries twice as far than it normally would. This is essentially what became of her staff that used to allow her to manipulate water as well as amplify her voice.

General Abilities: Singing, playing instruments, agility due to hover shoes, and can improvise decently in situations.

Special Abilities:
Acqua a Cappella: The sapphire on her necklace turns blue as she sings simple, unintelligible notes to invoke an elemental of water to convert the water vapor in the air to liquid water. The more arid the environment, the less water yielded. Those listening will also be gradually and slightly healed of minor injuries. It can be performed twice a day at most.
[Dream Weaving]

Voce del Cuore: Voice of the Heart. This is her principal power. Using her own emotions, she projects them out with her voice, creating a field of her own energy that extends out as far as her voice carries which can either deal damage or heal people. During this her hair becomes blue along with the sapphire on her necklace; furthermore, background music also plays, accompanying her voice. When she is happy, at peace, or determined, her singing will invigorate her allies and heal them to a decent extent (not repairing large bone fractures, but otherwise, most injuries will be mended or healed at least somewhat). When she is in despair, sad, angry, or nervous, her song will attack those who she perceives as enemies, draining them emotionally and physically until she stops. (They cannot die from this, though, they will merely fall unconscious for a brief time if they listen for too long). [Soul Arts]

Improv-Weapons: Before being transported to Iwaku, one of the things that she was trained to do was make use of various everyday objects as weapons. Because of this she can quickly think of things in her immediate surroundings that she could use as decent weapons in the emergency that she has to fight up close against someone. [Confluence]

Weaknesses: If an enemy or ally cannot hear her singing during Voce del Cuore or Acqua a Cappella, then they will not receive the effects of those two powers. In addition, the further away the listeners are from the sound, the less effect it has on them. If they’re not within 20 meters of her there will be hardly any effect on them at all. Furthermore, as a human without armor she is much frailer than most beings in Iwaku and can’t really take much of a hit. Her ability to improvise and create weapons out of everyday objects has its limitation in that some of them may be more flimsy and/or less effective than actual weapons. Further, she can only improvise with so many things due to her lack of physical strength (for example, she wouldn't be able to pick up a really heavy metal object and use it effectively because it'd weigh too much). Because of her non-fatal offensive capabilities, she is also relatively innocuous for someone with a lot of physical strength.

Personality: She doesn't trust people easily, and regards most as dangerous. Because of this she is most often on her own, drifting. She has no fear of defending herself and will use whatever means necessary to do so. Despite this lack of fear regarding self-defense, she often only does so when provoked by an actual physical threat of violence, not mere verbal abuse. Even though she tends to drift alone, she has a desire to find a group of people that she can trust. This is because deep down she prefers assisting others and having others assist her to fending for herself all the time. To others she's hard to read because she barely shows emotion with her face. Most of the time, though, she isn't really feeling much of anything, just thinking or day-dreaming to herself. She is generally content, only saddened or angered when something particularly troubling provokes her.

History: When she came to, she found herself near the edge of one of the many floating islands of Iwaku. She had nothing but a satchel with some clothes, a few flasks, a strange looking mic, and the necklace that was somehow already on her. She didn't know why, but the necklace seemed like something she should hold on to dearly. Little did she know that it used to be the necklace from her mother that she cherished before and during the Elder invasion. From the moment she awoke, though, the world was harsh. Traversing the strange island she was trapped on, she soon encountered bandits and enemies that wanted nothing but bad things for her. Barely escaping from these people, she learned to not trust most people in this broken land.

The reason she managed to escape was simple; she managed to rediscover the powers she did not know she had. She managed to sing them to sleep, often robbing them of their food and making a run for it. She managed to snag her nifty shoes from a more tech-oriented group of thieves. And so she continues to drift on the sandy landscape of her domain, just north of Insanity's grip.

OKAY.

Since this game is getting more attention than I ever hoped it would get, I'm gonna get things started soon whilst we're all nice and hyped up about the idea. Therefore, THE IC THREAD WILL BE GOING UP TOMORROW. Please try and get your characters in as soon as you can. Don't panic if you can't, though; I don't plan on closing applications for this game any time soon, so we'll find a way to work you into the plot.

I've always found that the start of games tend to be when they're most likely to die. People get bogged down in introductions and forced character-interaction and then quickly lose enthusiasm for the plot. I've been thinking of ways to get around this, but since we have so many characters I'm going to go for the simplest idea.

Basically, there's going to be an Intro Period, when characters can get themselves introduced to the initial setting, maybe interact a bit with other characters they encounter. THIS PERIOD WILL LAST A WEEK, and then I'll have the plot kick everyone in the ass and get things rolling. If you haven't at least got your character introduced by then, you'll need to sit it out until the start of the next chapter (which probably won't take too long, don't worry).

The idea's to minimise the amount of fannying about and tedium of the introduction and try make it as exciting and fast-paced as possible.

Fingers crossed it works.

Name: Orion
Race/Class/Type: 'Living Star'. Undetermined. Surfer dude.
Based Upon: Orion.
Appearance:

Orion.jpg
]

Normal Equipment: His standard clothing. A necklace of teeth collected from the various sea-monsters he had defeated across the universe before coming to Iwaku.

Special Equipment:

Bodacious Board (And key chain~) Bestowed by means that all point towards originating in reality-bending, is a unique Surfboard that Orion uses not only to travel across water and through space. . . but as a weapon as well. As far as it is known. . . the board cannot be broken or destroyed by any normal means. It will stand up against almost all attacks when used for deflecting or even an improvised shield. While not sharpened like a blade, when used offensively it can break or cleave through just about anything. Also, by Orion's will it has been shown to miniaturize into a surfboard key chain and back again.

General Abilities:

Surfer King- Orion can ride the waves of any planet in the universe inside and out. How useful this actually is in getting things done remains to be seen by all.

Surfboard Swordsman- Orion is an adept in his own surfboard-based fighting discipline. . . but learning more techniques that could be adapted to his own unique style would not hurt. By no means is he an expert. . . but he has the strength to make the unsharpened weapon cleave straight through opponents if not blocked or dodged. If compared to any pre-existing style it would closely resemble that of the Zweihander sword, a series of German swordsman stances associated with such a weapon.

Clambake- Due to surviving on his own for so long. . . one of the few memories that decided to stick are several seafood recipies.

Special Abilities:

Cosmic Confluence- Biologically, due to being born in the vacuum of space, he can easily survive in those types of extreme conditions without any sort of conventional or magical protection. Orion is immune to suffering from ebullism or any type of ailment brought on by changes in the environment related to temperature or pressure. But he is NOT immune to most magical attacks, physical attacks, or reality-bending. In addition he does not actually have to breathe air at all. Most mysterious however. . . is just how long his potential life-span might be as a Living Star. This ability comes from confluence.

Lucky Stars- Due to his unique creation, Orion can command the power of an entire star. When using cosmic energy he is calling upon the nearly boundless energy of the Living Star within his humanoid outer shell that acts as both containment and a disguise. Lucky breaks occur in very minor ways that would have to be expertly exploited to gain any advantage such as just managing to squeeze through a door right before it closes. Inhuman endurance comes not so much in taking several hits during combat but rather that he can remain awake and on the move for days at a time without food, water, or rest by running off his own energy. Accelerated healing kicks in only once he is out of direct combat and may take several days depending on the wound but certainly heals at a faster rate than any normal human. Last but not least, when focusing the cosmic energy specifically he can create a barrier of cosmic energy around ONLY HIS BODY or even just SPECIFIC PARTS OF HIS BODY for protection. However if a strong enough attack hits him or more likely his concentration is broken it will fail. This ability comes from Soul Arts.

Weaknesses:

Dudemanbro- People will more often than not understand what the hell Orion is talking about when he opens his mouth. The surfer slang is inexplicable to those who do not understand the terms in which he speaks. While he is actually relatively intelligent, this prevents him from getting complex ideas across to others. Still, it IS better than speaking the tongue of the n00bs.

Surfer Blood- At heart Orion is truly just a surfer. He will make up absurd excuses or create any circumstances necessary for him to go off and catch a few waves. Only in the most dire of situations, when lives are on the line, might he actually pass up the chance to go surfing.

What doesn't kill you- Due to his cosmic resistance to many things which could kill an ordinary person. . . he possesses a rather skewed view on what can actually harm him. It isn't exactly arrogance though and while it CAN be confused with that. . . is not actually the case at all. He literally just does not KNOW what might actually end up being capable of hurting him. You might get that way too if you could easily survive in the deepest oceans or the depths of space without a single thread of clothing.

It's a Kind of Magic- Orion is especially weak against non-elemental magic attacks and curses. Illusionary magic is one example. He has no natural resistance to them and no knowledge of how to dispel curses. In fact he is completely lost when it comes to magic at all given he has never learned about it.

No Shirt, No Shoes, No Shields- Unless Orion has the chance to block an attack through his surfboard, focus enough to create an energy barrier, or simply dodge it. . . he is totally under-equipped for combat. Gunshots could easily penetrate his clothes and skin. Weapons can still quite easily stab him. Explosives can still knock him around. This is no Sebastian Shaw.

Lifeguard on Duty- Orion values the lives of others very highly unless they happen to be a giant intergalactic ocean-beast trying to eat him at the time. When someone is in danger he will put his own life on the line without hesitation until they are safe from harm. Unless of course you just tried to kill him or someone he's trying to protect. And he actually remembers it.

Personality: A relatively easy going young man who often speaks with the sophistication and slang of a surfer. Just how a Living Star came to acquire these qualities came when mysterious forces bestowed the surfboard upon him. However that belays his relatively sharp intellect and sense of cunning that comes from being a hunter. Despite encountering life on other planets he still retains some rather 'alien' mannerisms. Memory problems due to the shattered state of Iwaku certainly are not helping at all. Youthful arrogance and optimism certainly arise when Orion is in social situations and especially combat. Courage and a sense of duty define him. Without a doubt he is the type who would 'go down with his ship' while ensuring everyone else escaped. Though to be fair he wouldn't exactly drown.

Yet, deep down, believing he is the only one of his kind makes him rather lonely.

History:

Orion arrived late to Iwaku. . . AFTER the end of the world in fact.

But before he had arrived. . .

Long long ago and far off from the first incarnation of Iwaku, in the far reaches of space had been a place of blackness darker than the rest. It was just beyond the touch of light from any star in that universe. Due to this a force greater than many decided such a place should no longer exist. Perhaps it was the God Homac, or simply one more powerful than most yet less powerful than Homac planted the seeds of a strange life force. It fed off the battles and the stylings of first Iwaku while still in early infancy. Before the city had even been created from the nothingness. This star baby therefore became much like the reality bending comic book world but never got a chance to connect with the World of Iwaku before the next cycle began. An infantile entity of energy merely floated with the residual effects of Iwaku as the only outside influence that directed this alien creature at all.

orion__s_belt_by_Cricker03.jpg

It laid the blueprints for a humanoid form of silvery skin and golden hair and white hot blue eyes that had a twinkle in each one brimming with cosmic energy. Soon the silvery skin dulled into a slightly less lustrous white. Upon a mere whim this creature that created light in the darkness could keep it's portion of space illuminated in peaceful existence and bathed it the brightness of serenity. Yet the interstellar infant had no conceptualization of what it could accomplish or even what it should accomplish. Time passed by as a blank stare took in the cosmos around without an iota of judgment beyond what made it smile or sleep or cry.

Baby_by_MehAkaMadda.jpg

Tiny fingers stretched out toward the other stars, other galaxies. . . only to find that none of them shared the unique life which it held. None of them were a living star that could do more with cosmic power than simply exist in space. Crying out in lonliness the entity wanted something to keep it company. And so it was in this time when Iwaku existed like a comic book that this tiny creation came into possession of an item that survived every incarnation of the entity since:

A surfboard.

Seas of stars were now opened up to the creature for exploration, yet that force greater than most made sure it never ventured near Iwaku. Even at this early stage where no madness had really set in could risks be taken. After all in these formative years this Star Baby still remained more than impressionable. Outside influences could shape the very destiny of the cosmic child. Golden hair shone brilliantly as it flowed in the solar winds during these innocent exploratory travels. He fought against many creatures that were on watery planets, and even creatures that lived in the depths of space. He took the teeth of the most mighty and made a necklace of them to hang around his neck. It led to the beginnings of becoming a great hunter despite having the outward appearance of a two or three year old humanoid mortal.

And then the City came to be. . .

The entity napped during the admin wars, only to awake to a world that had been torn apart by madness. It had been left behind while the others went on into their mirror realm to continue what would eventually become even more conflict. During all of what came next the star baby once again napped and floated across the reaches of the long abandoned universe while the effects of the DreamWeaving cycle reached across the boundaries of time and space. Further influencing the growth of this not quite matured being, it fed off the energies of magic and ritual in the Iwakuans' dreams, growing into a star child which changed the physical appearance considerably. But it also implanted the very first dreams of growing up even beyond that form which was still so brand new.

Now the Star Child wore clothes and appeared to have a human's physical age of about twelve years.

Surfing_is_his_life_by_Dynnnad.jpg

SoulArts awoke the creature from it's naptime, the last dream it had being of it's own chaotic soul. A place that had the potential to stay as it was. . . or become a black hole. Darkness that the entity had been created to keep at bay dwelt somewhere within what could be termed the soul. Unilimited power rested within those fingers which could accomplish tasks of the most selfish or selfless nature. Choices that a mind which had only known hunting and exploration was forced to endure under much distress. Loneliness assailed the cosmic child while light and darkness battled to forge a true purpose, what it would fight for and even who it might follow. But it knew no one save for the stars, defeated monsters, and fragments of dreams it had fed upon.

In the end it decided on one thing:

That IT was in fact a HE. And that HE. . . was named Orion.

Reality started to collapse, coincidentally, not too long after that choice as Asmodeus had already died just a while earlier. Now the repercussions spread out in a supernova shock-wave on all planes of existence across the entire universe. Timelines collapsed together as everything seemed to pull Orion toward the epicenter of the distortion. Every passing second that it took for the new age to commence he he grew closer to what would become the new Iwaku. The boundaries of his physical form and his abilities grew more blurred with the widespread distortion. Peaks and lows of his cosmic powers ripped him apart back and forth from that of a mortal to uncontrollable energy stronger than a supernova. Reconfiguration altered just about anything that the space child had grown accustomed to during a lifetime that had currently spanned four ages of Iwaku out in the cold reaches of space.

And then he crash landed on an Iwaku world that had already seen it's end. . . and become Shattered.

Name: Doctor Surgeon. Doctor Surge for short, Doc for shorter, _____ for shortest.
Race/Class/Type: Anathema
Based Upon: Not yet Revealed
Appearance:
attachment.php

Normal Equipment: Scalpel, Needle, Thread, gauze, antibodies, antivenom, antidotes, anti-other stuff, Chicken Noodle Soup, bandages, plaster, poultices, herbs, remedies, bonesaw, and other doctory stuff.

Two antique revolver firearms- For protection and aggressive treatment strategies.

Special Equipment:

Plague Doctor's Uniform: The entire outfit is a self-maintained, semi sentient garment. It responds to the needs of the user and without being forced off by the clasps around the back of the head, it will not remove itself from the host. The outfit provides him with all the medical supplies he needs as he needs them, drawing them from pockets or within the coat. Likewise it serves as functional armor, the lightweight feel of a uniform and all the defensive punch of Kevlar and full plate armor. It is impossible to tell gender or even species wearing the Plague Doctor uniform, but all the vital functions of a body are still available. Food and drink are imbibed through the outfit itself, the nourishment directly reaching the body.

Magic Strings: His primary method of defense seem to be magically enchanted wires he can call from multiple locations on his body. Capable of supporting impressive weight and able to stand against enchanted blades or other weapons, the strings seem to respond to mental command. Capable of being as soft as yarn (yet unyielding) or sharp as razor wire, it is unknown where Doctor Surgeon received this item, only that the magic suggests it is Pre-Shatter in origin.

Dimensional Pocket: On his belt, Doctor Surgeon carries a bag that opens into a pocket dimension. This dimension is beyond time and space, and all that enter it face temporal statsis...infinite freezing as they were the moment they entered the bag. Doctor Surgeon is very protective of the bag and any who dare to get near it. He insists that the contents are "Not yet ready" or "Need some work"

General Abilities: Supernatural speed, dexterity, and flexibility. Doctor Surgeon can move in ways that suggest he may not have bones...or if he does, they may be made of rubber. Able to defend himself quite well hand to hand, he truly excels in his wire fighting, utilizing angles, other objects, his own body, and the wires themselves in effective combative or defensive strategies. Doctor Surgeon, ludicrous as his name sounds, is a master of being both a Doctor and a Surgeon. He can treat almost any species in the Shatter and perhaps has the ability to cure many of the diseases passing island to island. Regrettably, Doctor Surgeon does not work for free and his sometimes ludicrous prices force the availability of such an antibody, rare. Doctor Surgeon is intelligent, perhaps too intelligent to realize that he's rather intelligent. His mind seems focused on some distant goal which he unerringly follows.
Special Abilities:

Functional Immortality(A mixture of Soul Arts, Reality Bending, and Dream weaving): The Flesh is weak, the blood is weaker....the bones are stronger than both, but also a bit on the flimsy side. Doctor Surgeon is a husk. His body is hollow inside. What does exist within him is detailed lower, but first is the power his body has. One can cut it, dice it, crush it, or pulverize it. But so long as one limb exists, Doctor Surgeon will put himself back together stitch by painful stitch. Doctor Surgeon's body is not made of skin, rather the infinitely tiny wires that are an extension of his magical weapon. In essence, Doctor Surgeon IS essence. His body is animated by the raw magic of Insanity, forcing a peculiar hierarchy on his body that will respond when necessary. This allows Doctor Surgeon to make 'modifications' when necessary...sowing a bear arm where his left arm should be...for instance.

Plagues of Insanity (Reality Bending): Doctor Surgeon has the plague of Insanity within him. Safely contained inside his hollow body, it seems to sustain him. Every plague or sickness the doctor encounters on his journey is taken into that hollow space and merged with the Insanity plague. Should someone be foolish enough to perforate Doctor Surgeon and utterly eviscerate his body, they may be unleashing the most destructive plague in all of Iwaku. The Doctor seems aware of this, avoiding violence at all costs and going through great lengths to keep his body intact. Even so, the virus inside him is another of his projects he hopes to refine into...something, he'll figure it out when it happens.

Soul Imprisoned (Soul Arts): Not necessarily a power, but there is something that grants sentience to Doctor Surgeon. A soul of some Iwaku denizen from before the shattering resides within his chest, a beating heart that keeps him moving. Its identity is suppressed beneath the chaotic energies of Insanity, but every now and then memories bubble to the surface. This ability also makes possession difficult, if not impossible. As a soul animates strings to make Doctor Surgeon, he has no organs or muscles to control at will. Any seeking to possess Doctor Surgeon would need to do so through the Insanity mire of energy tangled in his form, and that is perhaps more dangerous than simply trying to possess him.

Diagnosis (Dream Weaving): Doctor Surgeon has the supernatural ability to identify which of the primary powers is strongest within an individual, what form these powers take, and likewise to tell if they have a cold, how long, and where in the body the bacteria resides. It helps his medical profession. This sight allows him the superhuman ability of perfect medication, practically supernatural healing, Doctor Surgeon excels at turning even the most mortally wounded individual into a fighting fit participant faster than most healing spells. The vision serves another purpose as well...it identifies (Whether by his own delusion or by truth) the part of each person's body where the Iwaku Hero resides...only one organ or appendage has this power within it, and it glows to him like the embers of a fire. Not everyone has it, only a select few, and Doctor Surgeon takes special interest in these individuals.

Weaknesses:

Physically Frail: Doctor Surgeon doesn't have much strength. His abilities lie in his speed and dexterity. Due to the lack of interior organs or bones he's actually MORE fragile than an average human. He weighs very little and can be sent soaring with minimal effort.

Don't open me up: If the plague escapes, so might the soul animating Doctor Surgeon. He can't have that, his work is not finished...so he will stop at nothing to keep his body within good shape if at all possible.

Logical thinking: Doctor Surgeon's inquisitive and scientific mannerisms can often times ostracize him from others. His lack of understanding of social protocol, tact, or some emotional contexts can make him hard to understand, even cruel seeming.

Personality: Jocular, Pleasant, Cold, Logical, Stoic, Inquisitive, Morally challenged

History: Doctor Surgeon has been wandering Iwaku well after the Shatter. It is unknown if he existed before.

Doctor Surgeon was not always a Doctor. No...first he was simply_____ Yes, simply ____ and woke within the wastes of Insanity with that name in his memories. As you can well imagine, the language of the underscore name is a difficult one to communicate. It requires the most delicate silence and immobile presentation...as to maximize its full effect. Alas, _____ found that even in simple introduction, he was labeled stupid, perhaps even an idiot, frightening at worst. Regrettable, perhaps, that no one understood the divine nuance of such an omnipresent name, but without connection, he could not progress.

He found the Plague doctor outfit in the ruins, always ruins. For awhile, ______ assumed humans simply enjoyed building structurally inadequate dwellings, which were then abandoned in reckless festivity. Alarming when he found that was not the case at all, but that some great calamity was visited upon the world. Unfortunate, most unfortunate. Perhaps those who would understand his true name had been those who perished...and so from that day and onward, ____ felt a particular resonance of sorrow when he passed any ruin, assuming here was where the last silent communicator of underscore language had finally breathed their last.

A man once asked ___ if he was a "Doctor or Surgeon?" and when ____ found he could do both, he chose the names as his own. Doctor Surgeon, Doctor Surge for short, Doc for shorter, and _____ for shortest.

No one ever understood the last part.

Doctor Surgeon, by virtue of his unexplained ability to harvest wings from the backs of monsters and fashion them onto his back, was able to travel between the islands easily. He took some enjoyment in bringing a relief of pain to the sick and downtrodden, almost felt better about himself. It was hard, in the beginning. After all, everyone else had an origin story. They were born, named, grew up, did something partially cinematic or thematic and then perished. Alas, he had simply begun in the middle. There was no birth, no naming, nothing vaguely interesting about his journey...it was all a travesty, an irrevocable tragedy. So Doctor Surgeon made up his origin, augments and changes it as time goes on. Why not? No one else seems to have the blessing of amnesia. For all he knows, all he makes up could be exactly what happened and he takes comfort in that.

To be honest, the idea to build the hero of Iwaku came to him in a dream. A child in some twisted tree, in the company of a half-rat man and some others took the pieces of many people and put them into a design. So many pieces, and yet the end result was a man! The Hero of Iwaku! Perhaps this hero could restore order! Perhaps this hero could save everyone.

The people may not understand it now, but in the end they will praise the name of Doctor Surgeon. Of course, some must be sacrificed...it is necessary. After all, he can't build the Hero out of clay. Some people, important people, have bits and pieces in them that the hero will need. Doctor Surgeon takes these parts and drops them in his bag of parts, his magical bag. One day he will assemble this hero. Then, and only then, will he have created a present interesting enough to make up for his lack of a past.

Some people just need to die first.

But what does it matter? After all, there are soooo many people.

Who's going to miss one or two dozen?

Name: Skye
Race/Class/Type: Human, lost traveller
Based Upon: N/A
Appearance:
Anime_War_Girl.jpg

Normal Equipment:
Her clothes and she has a worn messenger bag that is stuffed with a warmer cloak, an extra pair of clothes, some food, medicine and various personal stuff. A gun is in a holster around her hips to be used as defence when her other skills isn't enough.
Special Equipment: A necklace with a special blue stone that store some of her powers every time she draws forth her element, that way she can choose to use the reserve in her necklace to prolong the time Skye can control water.

General Abilities: Skye is quite skilled at martial arts and is a good climber on most surfaces as long as there is some hand holds. Her stamina is good but she isn't so physically strong.
Special Abilities:

Power of Elements: Skye has the power to call on the powers from the elemental plane and use water as she sees fit, her abilities has a limit though and there is always the risk of messing up the link or get it destroyed by someone else when she uses it. Skye is beginning to learn to draw forth the power of ice as well but as with her other skills she is relearning what she used to know. DREAMWEAVING

Shapeshifter: The ability to draw on the power to change her entire shape is one she trains on just as much as her elements, the power to do that is available to her and she knew it perfectly before the Shattering of History Isle but know she learns it anew, but she's come far even without memories. DREAMWEAVING

Weaknesses: Skye is physically weak and can not last long against a larger, stronger foe and a powerful blow will knock her down.

When using her powers there is the obvious danger of getting the link severed between her and the elemental plane and also that she can get injured or similar when drawing power from her soul disturbing the flow. When using her power of elements then she can only use them for so long and when her time is up and she ignores the limit then she feels the toll on her stamina and extended uses leaves her powerless and exhausted and wide open for any kind of attack.

Skye is mostly a caring person that but she tends to get very emotionally detached and spiteful at times, not caring for anyone else than her possible friends if even that. It is likely a personality trait from before she lost her memories but it hinders her from helping people in need and also makes her a bad, even risky, choice for social events with new and/or dangerous people.

Personality: Skye is rather outgoing but vary of strangers, not trusting easily but loyal once her trust is earned. She is quite the tomboy, once trained in martial arts and with fire arms, she cares little for appearances, both her own and others, caring more about the person underneath the surface. When provoked or when she believes she is wrongly treated Skye can get nasty and cold but mostly keep her cool in most situations even to the point of emotional detachment and cruelty. She's realistic and sometimes wuite negative but tries to keep hope deep inside but it isn't easy maintaining that spark.

History: Skye barely remember a thing of her past, not even her last name or her family, if she ever had either of them. She only has bits and pieces and she can't make out what they mean, except that they are bad ones, though she can't remember if she was the bad one or if those around her were the bad ones. Despite this she has a strong need to remember what she has lost and just as much wishes to never regain her lost life.

EDIT: I swear, what is it with those Attached Thumbnails? They follow me around and I can't get rid of them>.<

Name: Curiose.
Race: Human Cultist.
Based Upon: N/A
Appearance:
xanjua.jpg
211s8zm.jpg

Normal Equipment: A plain dress with a wide brimmed sun hat, an umbrellawhich doubles as a sword at will.
Special Equipment: N/A.

General Abilities:
Socratic: Wondering, curious; Curi often finds herself wandering about the world of Iwaku, looking for anything "new" to her. While everything in itself is new, she often finds small things or trinkets that later have powerful use.

Raconteur: Often tells stories, or "history" as she "remembers" it. Often times the words she spews are that of her views of the cult she founded worshipping a mushroom deity. Most times she says these to boost the moral of the group she wanders with, but also to try and recruit new members to her cult.

Inattentive: When there is nothing going on, or if she is caught up in the moment with something else, Curiose often finds herself losing things, or losing sight of what is going on in the background. She remains inattentive, and often it puts her in situations that do her more harm than good.

Translator: The mushroom that Curiose carries with her, often uses her to send messages to those who are not infused by the soul. She can speak to him in a tongue that no one understands, while also being able to translate their conversations with ease to those around her.

Special Abilities:
[Soul Art] Incursion: This is the act of entering one's mind. Curiose is able to tap into any one person's psyche, invading them at will and violating every lock they put up against the world. During so, they are rendered immobile due to the trance they inherit. The victim envisions a nightmare conjured by Curiose through her accessability into their mind. But in order for Curi to be able to do this, the victim must be in a state of mind that is already weak. They must mentally put their guard down, or be in some break down to allow a hole in their defenses. Once infected, the victim does have the ability to fight Curi off, however the concentration and the mental prowess to do so may be harder to come by.

[Soul Art] Silver Tongue: One of Curiose's many talents is the use of her words. But sometimes, there is a little added spice to what she says. At her own will, she can become strangely charismatic. So much, that she can draw hundreds of people to do her bidding if she wished them to. The only flaw with this ability is that one can only succumb at their own will. If one can see past the guise of charisma, then it is of no use.

Weaknesses:
Severance: If for any reason that Curiose loses her Shroom Deity, her energy slowly begins to fade. She becomes more succeptable to illness, becomes the opposite of herself in becoming stoic and coarse. She acts manic, and paranoid, often sending people out to find the mushroom. Those who return empty handed end up murdered to appease the spirits for her "Shroomy's" return. If for some reason her mushroom is not returned to her within time, Curiose will die.

Revivication: The use of the Incursion puts a toll on the mental and physical body. The longer the act continues, the longer a wait must ensue before safely continuing to enter her enemy's mind. If not properly recooperated before entering the state of Incursion, the ability will turn on its user and put them through their own personal hell from the lack of being able to control it.

Naiivity: Despite being immune to any mental attack against her psyche, there is a different means of warfare that Curi is weak against. Because she knows nothing of the world, aside from that she has already seen and discovered, she is greatly succeptable to lies. She wants to believe that there is good in everything, that people will tell the truth. Because of that, she had woven her own tricky little web against her fate.

Personality:
She can be very bubbly and optimistic, while also sour and generally nasty. To those whom she has declared Heritics, she often seeks them out to provoke them, tease them, and make their life a living hell until she can finally send them into their purgatory. She is considered to be insane, evil, and down right malicious with a hint of naiivity. Her behavior is very controlling and OCD like when in terms of speaking with her fellow Cultists; demanding that they do things certain ways else they receive the brunt of her weapon.

History:
]There was not much left after the war. There were no buildings, there were hardly any people. But to Curiose, her curiosity and her insatiable need to want to learn, it just became a breeding ground full of secrets left wide open. She traveled everywhere she was capable of, and eventually was able to construct a weapon of sorts that disguised itself as an umbrella.

Along the way, she met up with a strange fungal creature whom she had declared as a deity, for it told her stories upon stories of the world as it once was. It told her of the evil Tomato Clan, of which whom once worshipped it but discarded it for something better. With promises of power, fame, and everything she could ever dream up, Curiose abliged to give part of her soul to the mushroom.

She praised the word of the God, told and retold the same stories he told her. As time wore on, more and more people joined her cause to find the shards of Iwaku to piece it back together once again for her beloved "Shroomy."

Name:
Nut (Similar pronunciation to ‘newt’)
Race/Class/Type: Angelic Fragment, Anomally
Based Upon:

Normal Equipment:
Food rations, water flask, notebook, bow, arrows and quiver
Special Equipment:

General Abilities:

Hawk Eye [Confluence]
Nut’s right eye, the blue one, posseses raptor sight, allowing her to make out fine details even at a distance. This, among many other benifits, has afforded her precise aim.

Expert Archer [Confluence]
Able to fire arrows at close and long range in rapid succesion.

Special Abilities:

Flight [Reality Bending]
It should be impossible for a humanoid with wings to be able to move about with any sort of grace, much less maintain flight at high altitudes. Her ability to do is dependent on her ability to enforce her own pocket of reality where she is able to fly.

Meta Eye [Reality Bending]
Nut’s left eye, the golden one, can see loopholes in the text. This allows her to exploit plotholes, red herrings, foreshadowing, million-to-one-chances, tropes and other various descrepencies in the narrative’s causality.

Weaknesses:

Reality Asserts Itself [Confluence]
Nut posses an innate Confluence Pulse, which will go off at seemingly random intervals, and which she has no control over. When this happens, all of her Reality Bending abilities are neutralized, leaving her flightless, clumsy and half-blind; subjecting her to the laws of science and physics.

Personality:
Quiet, reserved, awkward, unsure of herself. She often underestimates herself and her abilities. Nut longs to be a stronger person, a heroine worthy of her wings

History:

“I don't really remember who or what I was in the Iwaku Before, or if I even existed at all before The Shatter. I guess it doesn't matter. The reader does not care what the hero did before he started his journey. It is irrelevant, fluff, stuff of intermissions and 11 o’clock songs. I may be better off without a past; it gives me a shot at the future. At least, that’s the theory... I think.”

We're now in the Intro Period, as discussed above; everyone has until the FRIDAY THE 6TH OF JANUARY to get themselves introduced and maybe get a bit of character-interaction in, too, and after that the plot will kick in. If you haven't introduced your character by then, you'll need to wait until Chapter Two to do so.

If I've 'Liked' your character sheet, that means you're all good and can get started whenever. If I haven't, I'll have PM'd you about it.

Name: Liana

Each dagger is coated enchantingly with three separate ailments. Minz (the far left) is the dagger most used. It is tainted with a temporary paralysis effect of a common herb. Fron (the middle) has the same affect as dry ice; a blade so cold, it burns terribly. Peak (the right) is dipped with poison which is not used as often as the other two do to the dangerous effects the poision takes if the blade enters the bloodstream.

General Abilities:

-Bull's eye Beauty Speed, accuracy, and sight. Able to run long distances, double the distance of the norm. Accuracy and sight coexist with one another. Liana can through a knife or dagger with accurate precision. Her expanded sight assists in designating her target, allowing the dagger to hit its target in one shot.

Special Abilities:

-Foresight: She naturally has accurate eye sight, seeing things from far away, up to 300 meters, if not disturbed. The ability to see an event before it happens. Liana, on occasion, enters a premonitory state in which all of her five senses are temporarily halted to make way for her sixth: seeing inside her mind's eye. Visions range from 3 seconds to a minute, depending on the severity of the situation.

-Barrier Conjurer: The ability to conjure a barrier with the forces around her. Using as much mental thought she has, she is able to bend molecules, air, water vapor, pressure, and compress them into a single entity, creating a barrier like force. It is almost similar to Violet Parr's ability to create barriers. Used mostly as a defensive effort.

-Possession: Liana can enter the mind and body of her enemy, taking full control of their movements and actions. However it can only happen for so long. In order to assume possession, her body must not be touched in anyway due to a temperance with her body. The limit of the possession ranges from 1-2 minutes at a time. When inside the body she can not read the mind or emotion of the person with her. (Dream Weaving)

Weakness: Darkness. If around darkness too long, not only does Liana lose her ability to see, but she is overcome with bad visions, wrenching head aches, and an insane craze to be somewhere lit again. Liana sleeps outside by starting fires of some sort; anywhere else, there must be at least a dim of light lit somewhere, enough for her to make out her surroundings clearly.

Personality: Talkative yet secretive. Liana will insert herself in a conversation if she feels that something may be said or if her information may help. She also has low self-esteem and may silence herself until the feeling goes away. After having bad or uncomfortable visions, she gets on edge, quick to deny a fact, even though it is true due to anxiety.

History:
Liana killed her parents only because they killed her little brother. They were a broken family, poor, and always on the move. Her little brother, being a mercenary, made enough money to provide for them all but greed crept into the heart of the two parents. He refused and asked for them to provide for their children instead of their children providing for them Forcing their power and anger on her brother, their rage fueled their actions, which resulted in his death, in which Liana watched helplessly. Too late, she could not save her brother but was able to get her revenge by killing her parents. Liana, from that day on, was forced to remember the vision of her brother being struck down, which has formed her visions of the future. She chose to use herself as a servant to those who need her wisdom and guidance.
