Leo was startled by the appearance of the motorcycle. Around him, the animals covered their ears when Eiji revved his vehicle. Fool, no one should have a roar louder than him. Eiji charged, his lance pointed right at Leo. Leo crouched, waiting for Eiji as he tore through his labyrinth. Leo growled and the same gazelle that led Eiji into his realm impaled itself on Eiji’s lance.

Leo pointed at his mane, a soft golden glow outlined his fur, like a halo, like a crown. Leo roared and the ground rumbled, poles and structures bursting forth. The animals around them were lifted high above the air, placed onto wooden spectator stands. A lone structure formed between Eiji and Leo, measuring the length between the two. A fence burst up, forming a ring around them, a jousting ring.

The animals cheered for their king. Leo ripped off the tusk of an elephant and mounted a zebra. He aimed his makeshift lance at Eiji and at the sound of the horn, charged.

Eiji was surprised to say the least, as he saw a gazelle hop out in front of his lance from out of the blue, impaling itself. As the land around him quickly changed, he skidded his vehicle to a halt, wary of whatever trap the specter would come up with. For all he knew, the specter could have summoned a pit before him, or rocks to mess with him, but, as he shook off his lance, slipping the dead 'gazelle's' body off with a dull thunk, he got a full view of what the Specter had changed. He hadn't created a trap, he had created an arena.

It looked exactly like what he imagined a jousting arena would look like, and as he saw Leo mount a zebra and grab a tusk, he knew exactly what Leo had planned. However, Eiji had never intended to joust, he had intended to overkill the monster, and that was still in his plan. This was a motorcycle he was riding, a symbol of gangs, and the lance was simply to skewer the beast at high speed... Well, whatever the case, The specter wouldn't do this if he didn't think it would give him the upper hand, right? Psyche him out with this jousting game, and catch him off guard... no, he wasn't about to really do this. He switched spear hands, and charged, 'accepting Leo's challenge'

As the two neared, ready to strike with their lances, he veered slightly off course at the last moment, on to the side Leo wasn't holding his lance, and held his out to the side of the bike, as a ring quickly sped down it's length, transforming the lance into a horse-cutting sword. With that, he boosted the speed of the motorcycle to it's limit, ready to cut Leo and his mount in half. This wasn't a game, this wasn't for amusement, this was for life or death stakes. And sometimes, to ensure absolute victory, you had to cheat.

As they approached each other, Leo adjusted his weapon to get a better aim at Eiji. The Magi was going at a faster pace than him, but it shouldn’t be a problem; all that mattered was making sure his tusk pierced through that Magi’s heart. This should be easy as no one had ever bested Leo at jousting. He was king of this labyrinth after all.

Leo was surprised, however, by Eiji’s sudden change in course. The boy went to the other side of the arena, a ring of light running down the length of Eiji’s lance and turning it into a large blade. Leo could only helplessly watch as the blade sliced through his zebra’s torso, catching onto his feet and slicing them clean off.

Leo and the zebra tumbled to the ground, the zebra instantly dead. Leo cried in pain, clutching his legs as gold ichor flooded out of the stumps of his legs. The crowd roared; Leo was vulnerable and just ready to be killed.

"I'm sorry, but survival isn't about loyalty, or honor... you should know that.", he explained to the wounded beast, as he stepped out of his bike. "The only thing that matters... is who lives.", he kept his distance from the beast. The only thing more dangerous than a fully functioning, angry predator, was an injured, cornered one. Stepping close to deliver the final blow was a mistake he couldn't afford to make. If he came close, Leo could just as well grab him and end things now, but since he had the advantage, with Leo focused on his pain, and his legs severed, as he was unable to move, his best course of action would be to use a ranged weapon.

Once again, a magic circle went down the length of his weapon, transforming it, this time into a rifle. He aimed, held his breath, and fired at the proud beast's head, putting an end to it, and it's labyrinth.

Eiji's costume and weapon disappeared as the labyrinth dissolved and cracked around him, finally fully disappearing into the night. He shoved his hands in his pockets, and began his walk home, the street lights guiding him all the way. He could feel no presences following him at the moment, so he took the time to reflect as he made his way home.

"What kind of monster needs pride anyway?"

  • Nice Execution!

Kyuubey appeared from the shadows of the building, watching Eiji go. He climbed up the wall, entering the building from the nearest open window. At the same time, a man walked out, disoriented but unhurt. The victim used by the specter to create and secure his labyrinth to this building. The man walked home, having assumed he passed out from his stop at the nearest bar.

Kyuubey walked through the halls until he came across a small black shard with the symbol of Leo. With both of his long ears, Kyuubey picked up the shard and tossed it in the air. A flap opened on his back and the shard disappeared inside.

Kyuubey climbed to the top of the building, looking down below at Mitakihara town.

For of the night, it would be calm. No incidents, no single activity from the Specters that would bring the people of this town harm. They still kept moving, traveling through the town as they followed a rattling sound only they could hear. Eight Specters in all gathered together, entering a portal into another realm.

The realm, another labyrinth belonged to one Specter by the name of Ophiuchus, his serpentine tail swishing back and forth, creating the rattling that called all others.

Four specters stepped forward: Virgo, Sagittarius, Aries, and Pisces. These four were the closest to Ophiuchus and were his most valued.

Ophiuchus slammed his fist on the armrest of his chair. “Four them are gone within one week. One of you explain to me why that is.”

“Magi. There are Magi here,” said Aries. “I saw one of them, searching for us with her Soul Gem.”

“And she was able to take out four of us?”

“She took out Aquarius, Scorpio, and Capricorn all by herself. I wouldn’t doubt it was her who took out Leo too.”

Little did they know of the contract Eiji had made to make himself a new Magi.

“No matter, there are still eight of you. I only need four to help me finally become part of the Ecliptic Circle and you know who you four are. But we can’t have that Magi ruining our plans. I will send bigger reinforcements to take care of this problem, but do not forget we need the energy of the humans to accomplish our goal.”

One by one the Specter’s disappeared, leaving Ophiuchus alone. “I will become part of that Circle.”

The next day, all students were headed to school to begin the day. Well, almost all of them. Yuzuki was excused for the day and was currently with her father as he loaded everything he would need for his trip to America.

On the school grounds stood a girl, leaning against the wall. This was one of Yuzuki's friends, Junko. Her arms crossed, she watched students come by through her lone eye. She was waiting for Eiji, hoping to catch the older boy and talk to him.

((I appreciate your patience, I have had a rough past week. I saw your post when you first got it down, but I never really got the chance to get to it, as I've spent most my time off Iwaku. *rubs my face* Anyway, here you go! ^^))

The rest of the night was uneventful... but despite feeling no presences following him (which was a good thing, given the fact that it meant he hadn't been detected yet) He still felt something sinister looming over the city. The threat of the specters was still rampant, and his best course of action to avoid detection (and therefore not show his hand to his enemy). He had to maintain a less impactful presence...

He laid down, and went to bed, thinking of ways to accomplish that feat, before quickly drifting off into a dreamless sleep. Unconsciously, his mind was shielded from the Specters' probing, preventing any fearful thoughts of them to reach them, and attract attention to himself.

In the morning, however, he got up as usual, almost forgetting the fact that he was a magi, if not for the fact that when he took a shower in the morning, he had to take off the ring bearing is soul gem. After cleaning up, he reminded himself to slip it on, and began his long walk to school. He was certainly going to be one of the last few in, that was for sure, but it wasn't out of the ordinary for him to arrive even later. His only reason to go now was to speak with Yuzuki.

Junko tapped her fingernail against the crook of her arm. It seemed she had been waiting at the entrance forever and the bell was about to ring. Junko didn't really care if she was late or absent to class; her attendance and grades were good enough to not draw unwanted attention from her teachers. Of course, there were the annoying hall monitors who would nag her endlessly when they escorted her back to class, but she wasn't too concerned about them. It was important to her to catch Eiji Akaishi, and if it meant she would have to endure a hall monitor then so be it. He better show up as her patience was wearing thin.

Finally, she saw the boy approach the school grounds. Her anger briefly flared at the sight of him. About time he showed up, she thought.

"Oi, you actually came to school today," Junko growled at him. "I almost thought you'd skip class since it's what delinquents like you do.” She glanced at his hand. “Nice ring. We need to talk. Now.” She jerked her head at the rooftop and led the way.
