Skyler is a contradiction. He may like nature, and he may be a competent survivalist, but he doesn't like the outdoors. His extensive knowledge of local fauna and flora is a necessity, not a passion. If Skyler could, he would inhabit the Mystery Shack until the end of summer. His strongest attribute is his cleverness. Skyler is a dedicated bibliophile and due to his passion for movies, he may reference his favorite series. His insatiable curiosity heightened his adventurous spirit. Skyler can be downright meddlesome. Despite his confidence in his work, Skyler is an introvert. He doesn't like crowds, especially large gatherings. If the right buttons are pushed, he may be reduced to a stammering and flushing mess. While Skyler is blunt, sarcastic, and tenacious, he has a heart of gold. He can be very empathetic and gentle. Underneath his compassion, Skyler is mischievous, vindictive, and possessive. He isn't temperamental, but he's extremely protective of what (and who) he deems his. Skyler isn't above stealing or manipulating others to get what he wants. Additional traits include hardworking, brave, loyal, intuitive, and meticulous.

HISTORY

CHILDHOOD

Skyler was born and raised in the lakeside town of Pine Springs, Oregon. As a child, Skyler loved exploring the woods or swimming in the lake with his older twin brother. Despite his gentle disposition, Skyler and his brother were notorious troublemakers.

HIGH SCHOOL

Freshman year, Skyler realized his feelings for his twin weren't entirely platonic. Skyler harbored a secret crush on his brother throughout high school and after graduation. Since his feelings are considered taboo, and his greatest fear was his twin abandoning him, Skyler pretended as if he wasn't in love with his older brother. Senior year, he dated his best friend to get over his brother. Unfortunately, after graduation, his feelings never faded. Skyler broke up with his best friend before summer break.

MYSTIC FALLS

Instead of enrolling in college immediately after graduation, Skyler and his brother took a break from school. Before the beginning of summer break, their parents suggested one last adventure before college. Instead of spending their summer in Pine Springs, Skyler and his brother traveled to Mystic Falls, the home of their estranged great aunt, Annabeth Hawthorn.

Skyler believed in the occult, but he never personally experienced a supernatural encounter. However, once the twins visited Mystic Falls, Skyler discovered the truth in a tome hidden under the floorboards of his room. The supernatural is real and a community is hidden in Mystic Falls. Skyler and his brother vowed to protect the community, but at the same time, save the townsfolk from supernatural catastrophes.

The severe scarring on his left arm stemmed from a dangerous encounter with a shadowy skeleton monster. While it manipulated the shadows, its true power was dominion over fire. Despite his traumatic experience, Skyler isn't terrified of fire. On the other hand, he's exceptionally apprehensive around shadow monsters.

He never imagined his brother would feel the same, but once his twin confessed, Skyler realized his feelings weren't unrequited.
