This is Harnsley. An island shaped by the waters of the English Channel where some of the most astonishing tides in the world surround the coastline. An island city state that's small on size, but big on personality, where you can experience our world famous culture and atmosphere of the city, yet the sea is never more than twenty minutes away. An island of discovery, packed with activities to experience and explore, such as the newly refurbished Tanner Museum, [the family home of the first confirmed metahumans], as well as the Herriot Station, home of the world's first metahuman police unit. About Harnsley


Harnsley is a small island located in the English Channel, between England and France. A British island before independance in the 1920s, most born and bred locals speak both French and English. Harnsley is the name of the island itself, as well as the small town which would grow into a city that spans the entire island. The city is remarkable for having the highest concentration of metahumans in the world, something Harnsley has retained since the Outing in the 1853. Over 93% of the island population is considered gifted, and locals are almost exclusively so.

Harnsley is also home to the world's oldest metahuman police force, and military unit. Most members of the islands police force are required to be gifted. Vigilantism

It's kinda funny I guess. I've read a lot of them old books, and a lot of them kinda saw what was gonna happen. Totalitarian governments, removal of basic human rights, the breakdown of society. Even the kids books are full of kids killing each other to survive, zombie uprisings, human experimentation gone wrong. I don't need to tell you that these people weren't listened to. But I think it's interesting that while they predicted the beginning, they never quite got the ending right...

Ava is of a somewhat average build, with an hourglass figure highlighting her amble assets. She is fair skinned, having never really taken to the sun, and which has remained clear and even from her childhood. She is a natural brunette, with unruly waves that fall past her shoulders. She tends to wear very little make-up, aside from eyeliner, blush and perhaps some gloss or lipstick if she's feeling fancy. Her usual style leans very much towards rocker, with dark colours, solid boots and leather featuring heavily.

Biography
Aoibheann was born and spent her early years far away from Metro City, in the west of Ireland. While meta-humans there did not escape the animosity from the general public, it was far more liberal leaning than she realized at the time. Despite being limited in her choice of schools, and later her university, she performed well at school and at university, graduating among the top of her class. It was studying medicine at university that she really began to understand her powers, despite pressure to keep those abilities to herself.

Ava graduated as a doctor, and moved to Metro City shortly afterwards. What began as a move to help her 'spread her wings' ended up backfiring horribly as she began to experience the intense gaze that would follow her as a meta human in Metro. She took up her position as doctor at a relatively large clinic, hoping her lack of offensive capabilities would soon let her blend into the background. It wasn't to be - overtired and overstressed, Ava lost control of herself and accidentally healed a patient using her abilities. Miraculously, she wasn't turned into the police, but rather fired for her recklessness and blacklisted from almost all credible medical institutions in Metro.

So for now, Ava is just relaxing and depressurising, and handing out CVs in the hope nobody asks too many questions. This break away to get back in tune with herself has meant that she is under more intense scrunity than before - but not having long shifts and a workload to deal with has make it a fraction easier.

Powerset
Officially classified as **Rapid Cellular Regeneration** Ava's ability allows her to recover rapidly from injury that might prove fatal, even to another metahuman. Avas body regenerates as an automatic response to injury, and her body usually repairs itself within an hour or two depending on the severity of the damage done. More severe injury takes obviously longer to recover from - several days to a week or two. She is also virtually immune to most poisons - however this also includes alcohol and anesthetics, which isn't always a good thing for Ava.

Ava can also heal others - however this ability is extremely limited when compared with her own body's ability. She can boost the healing factor of a metahuman - enough to heal small injuries or take the edge off more serious injuries.

Weaknesses
Ava's ability comes with one major downside - despite being capable of recovering from incredible damage, the pain from those injuries is not reduced in any way. If she gets shot, for example, despite being physically capable of getting back on her feet in minutes, she will be in agony. She also appears incapable of blacking out due to pain, making her potentially vulnerable to torture techniques, especially given her healing abilities. She is not immune to electric shock, or weapons similar to taser guns.

Her healing abilities also have their limits - the more damage she takes, the longer it takes her to heal. She also requires almost complete rest and large quantities of food during her recuperation in order to heal to the best of her ability. She can be killed by significant head trauma, or other methods that would destroy her body completely i.e. decapitation or immolation.

Siobhán lives in a boarding house within a reasonably good neighborhood of Queens, where the tightly knit community of Irish Changelings provides a sense of community and security to those welcome there. However, it's best not to fall foul of the neighbors - gossip spreads like wildfire, even across the Atlantic Ocean. There are several nice shops marketing the comforts of home and the new world at the same time, as well as multiple bars that serve as Siobhán's sometime employers.

Personality
Hot headed, and ambitious, Siobhán from a young age had 'notions' about herself, at least according to her mother and various relatives. She was unwilling to settle down with Padraig down the road, to run the farm. She was intelligent, and hardworking, and she didn't want to be another farmer's wife spawning seven or eight children for him. She came from the great aes sídhe, the Fairies, and she knew she was born for greater things than that.
