Initializing Character Creation...

Starting Immersion

Welcome,
Graham Blackstryfe!
Dreams can be wonderful things, and the dreams a certain young teen dreamt that night, on the second of May, were no exception to this phenomenon. Dreams of magic, of taming of wonderful beast sand saving beautiful princesses filled the void of unconsciousness, and soon, maybe too soon, the gentle sunlight awakened the young boy from his slumber along with the delicious smell of breakfast.

Today was a marvellous day, and as sleep left, a warm feeling of contentment stayed firm in its presence in the boy's psyche. Today was to be special, the feeling in the air could be felt, and so the young Graham had to get ready for the day.

Sunlight began to filter through the window of Graham's bedroom. He groans slightly as the sunlight hit his face. He was having such a nice dream too. It was about him being a very powerful wizard and saving a princess from the grasp of a dragon. He wasn't fully awake yet, then the smell of pancakes and bacon began to wif around his room. He opens both eyes and yawns. "That smells good." He mumbles to himself as he swings his legs over the side of his bed. He goes into the bathroom and performs his usual bathroom duties and then comes back into his room. Opening a very large chest of drawers, he pulls out a black shirt that had a white skull on it. And then he pulls out a pair of black skinny jeans. Putting them on, he starts to descend the stairs. He had a feeling that today was going to be extra special, but he didn't know why. He enters the kitchen to see his father sitting at the table drinking coffee and reading the newspaper. He had already eaten breakfast. He sees his mother standing at the stove cooking. She then turns around, "Morning dear." She says. His mother, Erana, was a witch, while his father, Richard, was a what the magic community called a "Muggle". "Morning son." His father says finally looking up from his paper.

"Morning mom and dad." He says as he sits down at the table across from his father. While she continued to cook the rest of breakfast, she turns and puts a plate full of chocolate chip pancakes down in front of Graham. Those were his favorite and the only time that his mother made them, was a special occasion. "What's the special occasion mom?" He asks her. Erana turns and looks at her son as she puts bacon on a plate. "Don't you remember? It's your 13th birthday today." She says. She then brings the plate of bacon over to the table and sits down. "Oh yeah I forgot." Graham says as he rubs the back of his head. His mother knew eventually that he would be accepted into the Ingrid Academy for Magic, so she kept him out of public school and home schooled him like a normal child until the time came. She knew since every wizard child who turned 13 years of age usually got an acceptance letter. "Well just don't sit there and stare at the pancakes, go ahead and dig in." Erana says as she begins to eat her pancakes herself. Graham nods and begins to eat.

The sunlight streamed gently through the kitchen's window as the small family ate, gently spoken conversation being uttered as slowly the thick stacks of pancakes were consumed. This was a beautiful day outside, and as Richard finished reading the last page of the morning's paper, the last dish was cleared from the sunlit kitchen table in the corner of the room.

Standing and giving his wife a sweet but chaste kiss, the man of the family started cleaning the kitchen, as was the morning ritual of the Blackstryfe household; Erana cooked, Richard cleaned. Removing an heavy looking and rather thick letter from her cooking apron, Graham's mother winked at her son and gave him the letter that would change his life nearly completely. The Institute's acceptance letter.
Inside the sealed parchment was two sheets of parchments and a sole amulet with a simple yet elegant design.

Dear Mr. Blackstryfe,

We at the Ingrid Institute of Magic would like to extend our sincerest congratulations on your thirteenth birthday and would like to invite you as a student within our halls. The Institute, as your mother may have told you, is situated in a natural reserve and is only reachable by either portkey or floo, and is protected from outsiders by extensive walls. Should you decide to attend, you will be tutored, protected and nurtured to reach your potential and will do so at reduced cost as the son of one of our alumni.

Our system is through credits and privileges, with a year long school year complete with the occasional and well deserved vacations and breaks. As well as competent mentors, you will find like minded youths to share your joys and griefs, and will be provided for like you were our own child. Now, to accept this opportunity for learning, you merely need to get ready, take hold of the enclosed course questionnaire and, after acquiring the approval of your guardians, wear the amulet and utter 'I wish to learn the way of Magic' to activate your portkey.

Wishing you well and hoping to see you soon,
Cecil Fermont, Deputy Headmaster of the Ingrid Institute of Magic.

Graham was surprised when his mother a given him the acceptance letter. "When did this come?" He asks. "This morning by owl mail." His mother says. He nods and then opens the envelope to see that there was two pieces of parchment paper and an amulet inside. He read the first one which said:

And the other piece was a questionnaire. He already knew that his mother wouldn't have an objection to him going to the magic academy. He didn't know how his father felt about it. "Father?" He asks. "Yes, son?" Richard asks as he puts down his news paper. "I just got an acceptance letter from Ingrid Institute of Magic. Can I go?" He asks, hoping that his father would say yes. "Your mother and I discussed this, this morning. And what can I say it's in your genes to do magic, so of course you can go." He says. "Thank you father!" Graham shouts and hugs his father. "Now before your get to excited, you need to go get your things packed." Erana says. Graham nods and then runs up the stairs to his room. He grabs suitcases and trunks and begins to fill them with what he thought he needed. He goes over near his window and uncovers a rather large bird cage, it had is Eurasian Eagle Owl in it, his name was Toto. The owl made a slight screeching sound to be woken up. "we're going to a magic academy Toto! I can't believe it!" He says to the owl and it just makes a slight hooting noise.

He covers the owl back up and carries his belongings downstairs. He gives his mother and father both hugs and they all say their I love yous. "I'll be back on the first vacation." Graham says. His parents nod. "Good bye." They all say. His mother eyes were starting to well up with tears. Graham lets out a sigh and puts the amulet on. He had folded up the questionnaire and put it in his pocket. He grabs a hold of the amulet and sighs once more. And then closes his eyes: " I wish to learn the way of Magic''

A strange tug on Graham's navel coupled with a wildly colourful journey through time and space later and the young wizard was roughly dropped on a slightly dewy grass, the impact lessened by the strangely welcoming earth. The cry of birds mingled with Toto's indignant squawks on the slightly chilly morning air. It was the start of autumn today after all, and small puff of white fog escaped the boy's mouth each time he exhaled. The sun shined lightly as dawn continued to overtake the land, and the young Blackstryfe found himself in a beautiful garden overlooking a cliff. Staying like this a few moments, the young teenager was taken from his reverie by the sound of steps on gravel, and by an ageing yet kind voice of a man.

"Ah, you must be one of the new students, follow me, young man." The man, most likely the caretaker from the keys hanging from his neck and the slightly rougher quality of his clothings, led to way through numerous hallways where quite a few student and what seemed like teachers milled about, most greeting the old caretaker warmly as they passed by.

Finally, the duo reached a strong oaken door where a plaque stated 'Deputy Headmaster' upon the brass surface. Knocking three time, the caretaker, who introduced himself as Matthew, opened the door after a quiet 'come in' from beyond and winked at Graham, wishing him good luck. Inside was an elegant office with a large desk behind which sat an equally imposing man, his face lined with hardship and his eyes x-raying through the boy before them with ruthless efficiency.

"Please, take a seat and put your questionnaire on the desk, we will fill it up shortly, Mr...?"

Graham thought it felt funny to travel through time and space. He lands with a small thud as he drops on to some dewy grass. He stands up and brushes himself off, he then checks under the cover of Toto's cage, just to make sure his bird was ok. He then takes a look the scenery and stood there with a gaping mouth, surprised by how beautiful the scenery looked. He had never seen such scenery. The sound of someone clearing their throat catches his attention. He turns to see an aging man, he guessed that he probably is the caretaker, since he had a whole bunch of keys hanging around his neck. "Ah, you must be one of the new students, follow me, young man." He says and then turns and begins to walk. Graham quickly gathers up his things and then follows after him. As they walked, he saw teachers and students milling about talking. Then the caretaker introduced himself as Mathew and stopped in front of a door. Graham then read what the gold plaque said. It said 'Deputy Headmaster' on it. Then he watched as Mathew knocked three times.

Then he watched as Mathew opened the door, one someone had said come in. Graham looks at Mathew once more. "Thank you." He says and then steps into the room. When he saw the imposing man sitting behind the desk, he began to feel rather nervous, especially when he began to stare at him as if he was looking through him. He quickly begins to fiddle with his pocket as he pulled out his questionnaire and sat down in a rather large leather chair. "I'm Graham Blackstryfe." He says to the man.
