Cadoc glowered down at her, watching her read from the page in which he understood nothing from. He understood that she wanted him to sit, but he did not. He needed to ensure that she did not get too comfortable. He could not and would not allow that. She already made him fearful and nervous, giving up any of his power could be deadly. He cared nothing of what she though of him, besides her fearing him.
As she read, the fear in Cadoc deepened. The events she was reading, where happening or about to happen. They told of Ivor's victory, something that Cadoc had not known about yet. Nor, did he know if it had happened yet. Here was this girl, telling him of things that were going to happen. How could this book know this? It was as if it was telling a history that had not been lived yet. Cadoc bit at his lip, fear running through him. What was this girl?
Cadoc said nothing still as he sat down staring into the flickering flames. He took a deep breath trying to collect his thoughts into something understandable. He did not want her to read more about his future, it felt wrong to hear these things about himself that had not yet happened. "How much of this have you read?" he growled.
He wanted to demand more out of her, but instead he stared into the fire trying desperately to process what he just heard. They were a day north of Ashborne, so he could speak with Ivor soon. Just as the book predicted he had much to tell Ivor, and all of this had to do with the girl. Despite his fear of her he did realize that she was useful. Having someone who had the future in their hands was a valuable tool, and he could be greatly rewarded for bringing her to Ivor. Or, he could be punished, and tried for witch craft.
Whatever she was she needed to to be brought to Ivor immediately. If the enemy got her it would mean the end to the rebellion, it was his duty to keep her safe. She was no longer just a strange girl but an asset. Or, Cadoc could strike her down and take the book to Ivor. No, that wouldn't work, Ivor would think that Cadoc was lying, he needed this strange girl as proof.
He would keep her alive, and then Ivor could decide her fate.
