Cadoc glowered down at her, watching her read from the page in which he understood nothing from. He understood that she wanted him to sit, but he did not. He needed to ensure that she did not get too comfortable. He could not and would not allow that. She already made him fearful and nervous, giving up any of his power could be deadly. He cared nothing of what she though of him, besides her fearing him.

As she read, the fear in Cadoc deepened. The events she was reading, where happening or about to happen. They told of Ivor's victory, something that Cadoc had not known about yet. Nor, did he know if it had happened yet. Here was this girl, telling him of things that were going to happen. How could this book know this? It was as if it was telling a history that had not been lived yet. Cadoc bit at his lip, fear running through him. What was this girl?

Cadoc said nothing still as he sat down staring into the flickering flames. He took a deep breath trying to collect his thoughts into something understandable. He did not want her to read more about his future, it felt wrong to hear these things about himself that had not yet happened. "How much of this have you read?" he growled.

He wanted to demand more out of her, but instead he stared into the fire trying desperately to process what he just heard. They were a day north of Ashborne, so he could speak with Ivor soon. Just as the book predicted he had much to tell Ivor, and all of this had to do with the girl. Despite his fear of her he did realize that she was useful. Having someone who had the future in their hands was a valuable tool, and he could be greatly rewarded for bringing her to Ivor. Or, he could be punished, and tried for witch craft.

Whatever she was she needed to to be brought to Ivor immediately. If the enemy got her it would mean the end to the rebellion, it was his duty to keep her safe. She was no longer just a strange girl but an asset. Or, Cadoc could strike her down and take the book to Ivor. No, that wouldn't work, Ivor would think that Cadoc was lying, he needed this strange girl as proof.

He would keep her alive, and then Ivor could decide her fate.

Real World Girl
Olivia didn't sleep. She was starving, her stomach begged for some kind of substance, but she didn't dare ask Cadoc for an ounce of help. So far, he'd been rude, harsh, and his eyes only had one thing on their mind. If she stepped out of line, his sword would slice open her ribs faster than she could hold her hands up in defense. The only thing which kept her company through the long, dark night, was the fire.

The embers flickered in the dark, barely giving any warmth now that the pair tried to remain hidden. A well lit fire was an invitation for trouble. During a civil war, trouble was best avoid it. Bandits and enemies came in every shape and size, not to mention in groups which were probably larger than a scouting party of one. Olivia settled for the fire's company, for it warded off the unwanted treatment of every worse option.

In the morning, she gathered the book together and hoped that the pages wouldn't fall lose. Those which were too damaged by water, she stuck in the back half of the book, and hoped that she would have time to later decipher them if Cadoc asked her to try. Not a lot of pages made it through without harm. Many had thick black smudges of ink which blotted out entire paragraphs, but others were only missing words here and there. It was a far cry from the original state Olivia had purchased the book in, but it would be enough to save her head if she was demanded to read.

She sighed quietly and pulled the blanket up around her shoulders. The night had not been kind enough to keep her warm, and the moisture from her clothes had only soaked through to the blanket, covering everything she touched with a damp layer, and then added a fresh mist of morning dew.

Is it too much to have landed in a castle? Somewhere with warm clothes, a bath, a bed...

Cadoc watched the flames flicker for most of the night, trying to keep himself awake and alert. He doubted that they would be attacked, but complacency was the first step to death. He was exhausted when the sun finally peaked through the distant hills, but he knew he had to make it to the camp today. It was possible, with limited stops and a good pace but he doubted that Olivia would be able to do that. She was frail looking compared to him, no compared to most who lived in these times. She would not survive this world long without his help, and at this point it as help he hardly wanted to give.

With a groan he stood up and stretched his legs. With a few harsh movements he smashed the flickering coals with his strong foot. "We need to move now,'he said as he shouldered his large bag. He noticed she was shivering, they could stop in a town and get her warmer clothes. Despite being a scout he did have limited funds. He could maybe secure horses for the two of them, illegally of course. There was a small outpost village not far off, and he needed her to survive for him to bring her to Ivor. She would be a great asset for him, and securing him more freedom within the ranks.

He gave her a few minutes to collect herself, and then he started walking. If she wanted to live she would follow him, she had no choice. He didn't fear that she would hurt him, she feared him to much. If she did try to attack him well that wouldn't end well. He looked behind him as he stepped into the dense woods. The forests here were old, and thick. It would be easy to become terribly lost in the woods, but they had not traveled to far in. It wasn't too long till Cadoc arrived at the lake in which Olivia was born into this world.

"It will be a long walk, read your book to me" Cadoc demanded. Despite his uneasiness about the content of the damaged pages, he as still incredibly interested in it. It was curiosity that he feared would be the end of him. But a curiosity he could not stop.
