This was it. It had been only a day since the night before yesterday, when beloved 7th Year Ria Pocomtuc had sent the school in a nervous frenzy. Morri remembers exactly what she was doing that night. Staring. Just staring out of the window into the beautifully lit night sky. The head of her roommate and close friend Kat resting on her lap. They'd spent most the night deciding who to take to the Twin Academy Dance coming up, or if they should just go themselves. Kat had fallen asleep, and Morri was well on her way to doing the very same thing.

The school rumbled. Ilvermorny shook. Morri remembered Horned Serpent dorm doors opening and the paddling of feet rush past her room, as she grabbed her wand and opened the door, waking Kat up in the process. She slipped on her house robes and peeked her head outside to see all of her housemates running to the edge of the tower windows to see flashing. Morri quickly joins in and sees a beautiful yet terrible spectacle. Thunderbird House was lighting up like lightning. She could see the glass fall from a window near the top floors down into the darkness of Mt. Greylock. The murmurs and shutters of her housemates begin to trickle into her ear like a fearful and foul disease. Some of the 7th year Serpents started to keep everyone calm, as the 1st and 2nd years begin to back away in fear. Morri takes a breath, exorcising the fear in her heart for what has hit Ilvermorny.
"Sasha, take the 3rd years and below and house them in the Serpent lobby. 4th and 5th years, stay here and guard this tower, if ANYONE or ANYTHING comes through these doors that aren't student, staff, family, or registered MACUSA blast them to Azkaban. 6th and 7th years, let's go!"
Sasha, a Serpent prefect speaks up in rival of Morri.

Sasha: "Who made you leader, I'm the prefect here I--"
"Do you want to tell the Headmaster you risked danger over your ego?? Suck it up and get it done!"

Morri follows behind the 7th years as she grips her wand with force. She could also see faculty in the halls, telling students from the other three houses to calm down. Everyone was murmuring about and on edge. House Serpent tried to move through the crowd, but was stopped by teachers. The Dark Arts Teacher Mr. Samson keeps everyone at bay, blocking off entrances to Thunderbird House as the rest of the faculty checks out the scene, wands equipped.

Samson: "Remain calm! Just a little tremor, nothing to freak out about. Go back to your rooms we are not under attack. Relax guys it's fine."

Students go quiet when they see a stretcher roll around the hall to Thunderbird Tower. From it, was Ria laying down. The entirety of the crowd went death silent as she rolled by, a part in the crowd providing a path for the girl to get to the infirmary. She wasn't unconscious, but her eyes...they simply stared so blankly. She was breathing, she was functional, but her eyes were so lost. The Headmaster, Agilbert Fontaine stumbles from around the corner, almost dazed and confused. Faculty immediately rush to help him, as he looks disoriented back into the eyes of his colleagues. Morri watched her friend Ria pass by her. Unlike Hogwarts, Ilvermorny wasn't elitist, it wasn't about pure blood of half or none. Here in America it was all about potential, what you choose to be. It was here that the Horned Serpent felt pure sadness and worry for the downed Thunderbird going past her. "Ria! Ria...." Morri spoke, but all she got in return was a stare. And Morri didn't see a person looking back at her, all she saw was a shell. Ria is carted into the infirmary, as the Headmaster speaks up, fixing himself.

Headmaster.jpeg

Headmaster Fontaine: "I-- E-Everyone back to your rooms. Now! Ria had an episode, that's all. Everything will be alright. Get some rest."

He says nothing more and walks off to his quarters. Students were left baffled and stunned at the events, as the three houses looked into the eyes and emotions of every Thunderbird inhabitant, and they did not get the vibe that 'everything was alright'. Ilvermorny changed that night.

[Now]

This was it. Two nights ago when the incident happened. Rumors spread quickly, about Ria having a suicidal episode. How the blast of force came from nowhere. How her eyes turned black as space. Morri didn't believe it, just stupid Thunderbirds making up shit to be melodramatic and cope with the situation. Maybe Ria did have en episode, but the stresses of school, magic school no less can strike anyone with anger or depression. Ria's just probably having a hard time. Despite how popular and loved she is, though she seems invincible the girl is still human, like everyone. Morri was going to bring flowers by her station in the infirmary, but she wasn't there. Her bed was empty, instead replaced with more flowers than the school greenhouse. She had went to class, like a true Thunderbird. Even with her shit, she pressed on. Some say she ditched to get some air. Either way, Morri understood, she just wished she could do something more, that Ria would've been comfortable enough to talk to her if she was feeling so troubled. But now, now was a time for being a teenager. Ria would probably be doing the same thing if she were right beside Morri, and that is watching a daring, stupidly wild Horned Serpent by the name of Katalina Romanov try yet again to climb the Snakewood Tree. How many times she's tried, how many times she gets kinda high, only to fail and bust her ass. How many times Morri cries in tears of laughter at her roommate. Oh, but according to Kat, today was the day. Morri has made a thing of it, spreading the news all over school secretly to those who wanted to see the girl try the impossible. Faculty was kept well hidden from the fact, as students of various houses come and gawk upon the Katastrophic Katalina. Morri shields her eyes in the bask of a golden sun and high ass tree altitude, and looks back at Kat.
snakewood.jpg

Morri: "You know you're going to get in trouble regardless right? Sure you wanna do this??"

Morri saw Kat's expression. There was no stopping the girl on becoming the first student ever to conquer the Snakewood Tree. Ilvermorny wasn't a school of world conformity and social trends. In a society of Trump, texting, and social media, The American magical academy stood apart from it all, they were their own beacon and system. Who needs phones when you have a reality such as this? At the anticipation of the viewers, Morri looks around to see the coast is clear, giving the nod to Kat to start climbing as she provides cover so teachers don't detect their schemes.

Morri: "Fumos!!!"

A wisp of her wand and smoke and mist shroud the base of the tree, providing cover for Kat. Morri smirks as the day starts up, and everyone who knows about this watched with a smirk.

Thomas had once more visited his good friend Ria Pocomtuc - 7th year Thunderbird who had an episode the day before yesterday. Spotting that there was no one in the bed, whether she went to class or just ditched for some air, Thomas decided to leave the freshly baked cupcakes there. He was quite happy to see that she had eaten the previous batch, which was just one, and that meant she was coming back. He had been so scared that she'd just remain in that catatonic state for an indefinite amount of time. It was horrifying, to be honest, and it was something that he could never forget.

That night, everything started off as normal. He was happy. But everything went down after that.

That accursed night.

Thomas had been in the Pukwudgie Common Room, giving out a new batch of cookies to his fellow Housemates. The young ones particularly loved this routine since they get free food even after the feast. He had been scolded once before, about ruining the children's appetite, so he had to give them after the feast. Though, once they fell into that routine, students started to save up space in their stomach to take a bit from Thomas's batch of cookies - sometimes cupcakes, or maybe even a cake when someone close to him is celebrating a birthday!

Then suddenly, the school rumbled and they were all surprised. Thomas was shocked and then saw one of his fellow sixth years rushing out. He quickly followed, leaving the tray of cookies behind on the table. He joined the mass of students looking at Thunderbird House. His eyes widened in shock as it was lit up. He heard a prefect speak up and then ushered everyone inside their rooms for safety - to await the orders of their teachers. A select few Pukwudgie students were chosen to investigate - and Thomas was one of them. He brandished his wand and then went on to the Thunderbird House.

His mind was racing - what was happening? Was there an attack? Did something bad happen to the Thunderbird students? He was worried. He was scared. But he had to be brave. He was one of the older students after all, and he had to protect the young ones.

When they arrived, Mr. Samson was there to dissuade them from going. Saying that it was perfectly fine, and that they needn't worry as it was only a mere tremor. Though, Thomas could clearly see that that was not the case. He saw the other Houses there as well. Thomas still had his wand gripped in his hand when he saw the stroller roll past, with Ria on it. He almost lost his grip on his wand and he felt the need to follow. He saw the Headmaster there, but his mind was only at the Thunderbird student. She looked fine, but she didn't seem focused. She was staring into nothing.

He heard Morri try to call out to the girl, to no avail. Thomas, in his dazed state, followed the stroller. He heard the school nurse tell him to go to his room, but he asserted, miraculously, that he would help out. Thomas promised that he would get back to his dorm room once the curfew was in effect. There was nothing much he could actually do as they rushed around to see if she was hurt - or if anything. But she just seemed to be stuck in a catatonic state.

"Ria?" He called out once the school nurse settled down. There was no response, as expected. He sighed. "What happened to you..." Thomas truly wondered, as he stared at her with hopeless eyes.

[Now]

Packing up, he had another even to attend to. Through a series of hushed rumors circulating around Ilvermorny, coming from a certain Morri Skopos, he found out that Katalina was going to attempt to climb the Snakewood Tree again. Sure, he was feeling down and the events were still fresh on his mind. It affected him greatly - greater than most others. People knew that he was close to that particular 7th year as she had helped him before, so it came to no wonder why he was so affected.

Seeing as there was still time before the event, he wondered off to find Alesea. With no surprise, he found her mixing Potions once again. Being the leader of the Potions Club, he expected it. He waved at her. "Heya Ales, I'm gonna go off and watch Kat climb the Snakewood Tree around..." He paused as he looked at his watch. "Five minutes from now. I'll be bringing pastries again. See you there~" He informed her, making sure that no teacher heard him. Whatever her answer would have been, he waved his hand, gave her a cheery smile and then left.

He passed by the kitchen where he took a tray of cookies and cupcakes that he had left. He then made his way to Snakewood Tree just in time to see Morri and Katalina preparing to start. He bounded up to them, and a few other students. There was a grin on his as he approached the group. The other students, already familiar with his antics, came and took a pastry of their own.

"Yo Morri, Kat." He was already familiar with them so he wasn't as nervous as he normally was. Though admittedly, he was more at ease because Katalina was there. Should it have been Morri alone, it would have been a very different story. They knew each other - seen each other in the kitchen and whatnot, but never really talked heart to heart or anything remotely similar to that. He respected her, yes, due to her skill with magic and how the teachers spoke highly of her, and that made it all the more harder to speak with her on personal terms.

He cleared his throat and then showed his tray. "Cookie or cupcake?" He offered to the two. He tapped the tray and then let go, letting it float in mid-air. Thomas then looked towards the Snakewood tree and then back at Katalina. "Good luck Kat. Hope you succeed this time." While he wasn't always present whenever she climbed, he saw it sometimes. He watched her stumbled downwards and Morri rolling on the ground laughing. He used to love watching Katalina's unwavering determination to conquer the Snakewood tree, but he never really heard when she would be doing it so he didn't watch every time.

The whole event was certainly uneasy to the eyes.

While many students from her house needed to push each other in order to see better, a small brown Raven flew above them all, getting as close as it can without interrupting the Headmaster and Ria. The exchange between the two seemed very off, and then Ria touched the Headmaster's frontal lobe, and very briefly Sil noticed the blackness that went into their eyes before a strong gust of wind pushed her back, knocking her against a wall.

She transformed back to her human self as students begun to move aside, letting both the Headmaster and Ria go past them. Ria did not seem like her usual self at all, and the headmaster begun instructing everyone to head to their rooms.

As she stood back up and looked at the backs of the two, Sil couldn't help but wonder what this was all truly about. She assumed most people in her house had the same thought passing through, but from the looks of many, they were also very worried. With a lot of chatter going on and the Perfects not getting through to people,

Sil put her wand to her neck and whispered "Sonorus" before speaking in a loud voice that would catch everyones attention "Alright people! We were told to head back to our rooms, and all this chatter isn't making the job easier for the Perfects! I'm certain everything will be alright, seeing how the Headmaster himself is dealing with this! Now lets do as we were told and know that tomorrow will be a better day!"

As she finished speaking, a lot of students seemed unconvinced but did begin heading to the rooms, not wanting to hear from her again and her optimistic view. As she used the quietening charm, one of the perfects approached her and showed a brief gratitude before telling her she needed to head up as well. Nodding, she would do just that, but deep down even she was a bit skeptical about how optimistic anyone could be about what just happened.

Now

The atmosphere that ran in the Thunderbird dorms made it clear the events had a strong impact on everyone in the house that saw it, and Sil had little success in trying to cheer anyone up the previous day. This morning, she woke up early and decided to have an early breakfast before going out to just think. She had heard rumours of someone that was going to try and climb the Snakewood tree, but she didn't pay much attention to it as her mind was focused on thinking on ways to bring the atmosphere back up in time for the dance.

Once she stepped outside, she quickly changed to her raven form and flew to a rooftop across from the Snakewood tree. Even though her mind wasn't set on it, Sil would have to admit that her curiousity had peaked a bit. There was one girl who kept trying to climb the tree every now and then over the years she was in Ilvermony. She knew that in her bird form she could get up easy and change back to her human form, but seeing how she felt it would take away the challenge, she only stayed on the tree as a brown raven. She did, however, poke it with her beak to try and spot any potential secrets. The tree did not hold any from what she could tell.

She went back to her human form and stayed on the roof for a bit of time before people begun to gather around the tree down below. By then Sil had a few ideas, and it was only a matter of trying to see if she could get someone to help her execute them.

The sudden appearance of smoke next to the bottom of the tree made it clear it was about to begin, and being eager to see if the student could get up, she changed back to her bird form and flew down, but instead of landing on the tree, she decided to go further down. Once she was within the smoke, she quickly transformed back and approached Thomas and Morri. Spotting the floating tray of cookies and cupcakes, she grabbed a cookie and took a bite out of one. She raised a thumb up towards Thomas as she kept her eyes on Kat, hoping to see her succeed. Any reason to celebrate would only be good for them now.

"Katalina? It is time to get up. Your dad is waiting for you down stairs." A voice called out. Rubbing her eyes Katalina turned over and grumbled as a voice spoke up once more "Come on Kitten, you need to get ready to leave for school.". Sitting up slowly everything suddenly snapped back into reality. It wasn't the movement... it wasn't the commotion, it was the emotionally charged atmosphere. It was time to wake up, and everyone made sure that Kat was awake even if they didn't mean to.

Staying silent, Kat quickly got dressed and followed behind Morri. Something was wrong, the feeling of terror filled every knook and every small place around her. It seeped from the walls and oozed from every individual. Old, young, skilled and novice it didn't matter. Something had happened and soon she was standing beside her friend outside of the Thunderbird house. Stomach turning and aching she felt as if she was going to be sick. The supercharged atmosphere weighed on her, but everything changed in its entirety the moment Ria emerged.

Turning around Kat pressed her back against Morri's and choked up. She closed her own eyes, she didn't need to see the girl. She felt it, the horrific terror. Death.... loss the absolute absence of hope. Shivering her skin was covered in goosebumps. Luckily for her, the Headmaster came and began to break things up. Turning around she locked eyes with the headmaster. Her own eyes bloodshot, but she wasn't crying. There was to much going on... was he telling the truth? She couldn't filter it all out. One could only hope.

[Now]

Looking up high into the sky Katalina only nodded "Yeah, but has it stopped me before?" She said in response to Morri saying she would be caught. It was inevitable, if she did reach the top she would bring the plants to the infirmary. If she hit the ground, she would be going with plants to the infirmary. So, in the end she would end up in the same place irregardless of what direction it took. "Ill be going to the infirmary either way." Katalina said without skipping the beat. She wasn't afraid of failure, rather the risk of never trying at all.

Taking a breath her concentration was broken as Thomas approached the two of them. "Hey, Ill take one when I come back down. I haven't eaten all morning. This is going to be difficult and I dont want to get sick." Katalina said with a slight smile. The events of the night before weighing on her. Perhaps that is why she pushed forward with this so much. She needed an escape, somewhere to put her mind. This was it, she felt she was actually going to get close this time.

"Thank you, I hope I make it as well." Kat said as smoke began to surround them. It was now or never, the teachers and faculty would know the signs. She had to disappear into the tree as soon as possible. "Smokes out so I am out." Kat said as she began to climb. "If I fall out of the tree. Do try and catch me." She said look to Thomas and Morri. "Dont worry, I will be fine." She said glancing at Thomas. With that she stopped talking and began to go up the tree.

DJ was in the middle of what his juniors in the Dueling club called hell training. DJ was having all of the club do a session of what he called quick casts. He would line up the club members and have them aim at targets and cast the same spell 100 times. DJ was particularly quick at this activity, when he trained it wasn't uncommon for his juniors to stop and watch him. DJ loved the dueling club, he considered himself the strongest duelist in the whole school. He finished his 100 spells when his juniors were still on their 50th, "hurry up you guys. you're gonna get blasted at this rate."

A sudden boom was heard that shook the duelist club room. "geez. first years probably blew up the potions lab again." he saw that the other members looked concerned and started to whisper. He placed the tip of his wand to his neck and with the help of magic his voice boomed "GET BACK TO WORK!" The other club members were startled and went back to casting "yes Captain!" they all shouted in unison.

It was later that DJ found out what was really happening. He knew Ria, nice girl got along with everyone. She didn't seem like the kind of person to lie about an episode like that it must have been legit. DJ suddenly felt adrenaline flow through his body as he got excited, he was finally given the chance he secretly wished for all this time. He was going to be able to test his skills against the darkness Ria spoke of.

[Now]

DJ was running around the school for his morning workout. He found himself by the Snake wood tree when smoke started to appear. He stopped running and shook his head, "geez those damn girls messing around again." DJ ran down to the tree where he saw that others had gathered. He passed a few people he recognized "Hey Claire, Thomas." he said as he grabbed a Cupcake. "damn it Thomas I lost like 400 calories from my run this morning." he took a big bite of the cupcake. "now it's all back. I hope you know your the reason I'm pushing 190." he said with his mouth full of cupcake. He looked on at the two girls, he shook his head and walked up to them."

Dj walked up to Mori just as Kat started to climb. "I don't get why you two keep trying to climb this damn tree. It's such a waste of time and effort. Your energy will best be spent joining the dueling club." DJ faced Mori, "I don't know why you have to be so stubborn about joining, you'd be perfect as my co-captain, your strong, quick and you know your stuff. It'll be awesome Ilvermorny's strongest and most talented Wizard, Me as Captain and you standing as my right hand man...woman...girl." Dj watched as Kat go higher. "hell you can even bring Kitty Kat there if you want." He looked up at Kat. "Hey Kitty, if Mori joins the Dueling club will you go with her?"

It wasn't uncommon for Ales to be in the greenhouses immediately after dinner, especially now that she has her own plot. The perks of being a very enthusiastic sixth year. She was just tending to her patch of flitterbloom when the school shook. Several of the plants around her immediately shrunk in on themselves, giving her a clear view of the way one part of the castle was flashing. She assumed it was from Thunderbird, a kid being an idiot with magic as usual. No more thought was given to the incident as Ales tried to coax the anjelica back into bloom.

Now...
She was completely focused on the potion before her. A calming draught, the next potion on her list to experiment with different ways of brewing and coincidentally needed after what had happened. Rumors were flying wild around the school and Ales was of the opinion that something terrible had happened to Ria. Well, that, and Thomas had told her what he saw when she asked.

Maybe she would assign this as the Club's next project?

She was just adding the plucked petals of chamomile when Thomas arrived. She knew he had come, mentioning something about the Snakewood Tree, but by the time she was done carefully stirring the potion to mix the ingredients he was gone. Ales shrugged and set the potion to simmer. It needed a good few hours like that if her calculations were correct, then she could add the sprig of lavender.

With that settled, she wrote a quick message to the Potions professor so that someone else would know what she was doing. A tap of the wand had the paper folded and lazily flying off. Alesea locked the door and decided she might as well head to the Snakewood Tree and see if Thomas had been talking about that one girl trying to climb it again.

Sure enough, when she arrived there was smoke shifting around the tree and a small crowd gathered. Using her height to her advantage, she slipped through the people and snagged one of the cupcakes from the floating tree. She rolled her eyes at DJ's words and peeled off the wrapper from her treat. "If she succeeds, I call dibs on whatever she brings down."

36 Hours Ago:
Felix found himself lined against the wall with the rest of the members of the Dueling Club. His breathing was slightly labored, as he finished up the last of the training drills the Captain had put them through. He let out a long satisfied breath. Another day in the Dueling Club. His eyes casually scanned the younger members, as they struggled to keep up with the Captain's Hell Training. Currently on the menu, was what the Captain liked to call Quick Casts. It was personally one of Felix's favorite drills, as he prided himself in his ability to cast spells quickly.

Already finished with his 100 spells, and not wanting to catch flack for just sitting around, he busied himself as he experimented on the training dummies with whatever spell came to mind -- until he what felt and sounded like an explosion caused him to stop mid wand swish. The room fell silent, before the younger members started to whisper among themselves, earning a sharp "GET BACK TO WORK!", from the Captain. Felix snorted with laughter as he watched curiously as the Captain left, obviously in search of whatever made that 'boom'.

He waited a minute before tucking his wand into his pocket, and casually strolling out of the Dueling Club Room in hot pursuit. It wasn't hard to find the point of interest. Felix pushed through the crowds of people, as he struggled to see what was going on. He caught glimpse of the stretcher as it was carted away. Only finding out a bit later that the person on the stretcher was Ria; a girl he'd had a few casual conversations with prior, but nothing major.

Now:
He stared down from the edge of the Wampus Tower roof, scanning the school yard for potential victims. The stink pellets, and enchanted fireworks lining his coat pockets grew heavier by the second as he thought about the task ahead. Fresh out of detention, Felix was set to make some more trouble for his fellow students. Intending to drop them on unsuspecting first years.

Broomstick held loosely in his right hand, he peered out scanning the yard before spotting a wall of smoke rise up by the Snakewood Tree. It wasn't long before a small gaggle of people had started to form at the edge of the tree. Felix grinned, he could tell someone was up to no good. His initial plan to terrorize students now forgotten, he took a deep breath before running to the edge of the roof and jumped.

Gravity took hold quickly, as he gripped his broomstick tighter. And with a single practiced movement, he forced the broom between his legs, his feet finding the rests almost instantly. Broomstick pointed towards the ground, Felix watched as the ground quickly grew closer and closer, before pulling up out of his suicidal dive-bomb. The wind was almost like a physical slap to the face as he looked up with teary eyes to see where he was going.

With a loud, "INCOMING!", he pulled the nose of the broom up sharply until he and the broom were both almost completely vertical and came to a halt at the base of the tree. Following the gazes of the bystanders, he saw the figure of someone climbing the tree. Grinning he turned towards the others that were currently on the ground.

"Yo! So what's going on? Are we climbing the tree?"

morri2.jpg

Morri watches the dynamics between Thomas and Katalina, he saw the way he looked at her, and then how he looked at Morri. He seemed rather aloof but polite when it came to herself as opposed to her roommate. He offers a cookie or cupcake to Morri, in which she smiles but waves a hand in refusal. "No thanks Thomas, not really up for anything sweet right now. Thank you though." After him wishing Kat good luck, Morri side eyes him. He was so nice. Kat returns that she'll be fine, suggesting to Morri she's ready to get the show on the road. Morri's quick perceptiveness spotted a brown avian lunging into the smoke, but what returned from the smoke was instead a girl, Clare Elvertaz, or most people called her Sil. The girl was a beast when it came to transfiguration, becoming one of the youngest Animagus' to date. Morri envied that trait about her, to be able to fly the skies peacefully (under watch of the school however). She gives Sil a friendly nod, as the Thunderbird joins them and grabs a cookie, seemingly approving of the taste.

"Sil..." Morri spoke while Kat commented on how either way she'll bring plants to the infirmary, which made Morri chuckle. Morri directed her attention back to Clare. "Did you...were you, um. What did you see the other night? The look on your faces was--"

Suddenly the conversation goes abrupt as DJ intervenes and speaks to Sil, grabbing a cupcake in the process. He takes a very boar like bite out of the item and complains about how he's pushing 190. No one tells him to eat the cupcake but him, Morri thought to herself. She thought she'd for once be able to avoid the banter of the warrior-duelist wannabe, but alas, here he was approaching her face. Like the last 84743645 times before. Trying to recruit Morri into the dueling club. She folds her arms and raises her brow at the guy, interested to see what campaign he will conjure up in his mind this time. He spoke on her being stubborn, how as his co-captain they'd rule the world type speech. She went wide with sarcastic happiness when he mentioned she could bring Kat along too. Morri shifted into the role of a groupie type prep girl, her sarcasm brewing to appeal to DJ's ego.

Morri: "Like, Oh my god...can you picture it!? YOU and ME!? Together!? We could get like, matching wands! And omg omg go to the Twin Academy Dance together!? DJ!! The thought of me serving as your right hand I just *sigh* I've dreamed of this moment all my life!"

Morri's fangirl gestures cut out as she goes into a smirk as students around them giggled at Morri's antics. She then shakes her head in laughter, patting DJ on the shoulder. "Keep dreaming Danny boy." All honesty, Morri didn't dislike DJ at all, he was just so damn annoying at times. If not for his thick robe of arrogance he wears so often, she'd probably find him cute. He had a groupie following she was sure of it, and that only stoked the Wampus' ego even more.

Morri then hears the voice of Ales, a potions guru. Where did she come from? She was surprised the girl came out of her womancave of herbs and ingredients. Morri didn't know her super well, but enough that they could say they're friends at least. The girl was a beast at mixing and brewing potions. Morri distinctly remembers Ales being mildly disturbed for getting a low grade on her potions exam once.

It was a 97/100. The highest score on the exam.

Morri looks out around the courtyard, as the coast was still clear, but it was all good now. Kat was well disappeared into the smoke and up the Snakewood tree by now. She looked along the height of the tree, scanning and seeing Kat's silhouette. She was about 50 feet up or so, and still climbing. Morri shakes her head with a smile at the girl's ambition to climb that damn tree. But with everything that's going on, especially with Ria, they deserved to be kids right now. A loud "INCOMING!" breaches Morri's ears, as well as the other students who were watching. Some of them gave the student foul looks in response to his rather opposite of discreet entrance. A swift broom came down, a broom that was not allowed for free use on school grounds. Morri instantly knew who that was, Mr. Detention himself, Books. Or as Morri liked to call him, Loki. Her piercing ice eyes almost stab into his soul, as she rolls her eyes and glares at him for making such noises, risking their operation.

"Books! Shh! WE aren't climbing anything, Kat is."

They watch as the girl climbs up the tree, probably plucking every medicinal leaf and plant she lays eyes on. Morri's heart gets filled with worry. She'll never show it on the outside, but in reality it tears Morri up to think about Kat getting hurt. Sure when she turns out okay it's funny, but there could be one time where she seriously gets hurt. Kat was her partner in crime, if anything happened to her Morri would go crazy. Lil shakes her head of the thoughts and shields her eyes as she watched her best friend continue onward. Clouds seem to cover the sun as the golden landscape now becomes greyed and paled out. Morri removes her hand from her overscope as the sun temporarily diminishes. The hollowing out of the light underneath Ilvermorny. The clouds almost seem as smoky as the thick mist that surrounds the base of the Snakewood Tree.

Something catches Morri's sharp and very perceptive awareness, as she spots something coming off of the Tree that makes her heart drop, when she quickly deduces that the object is too small to be anything of grave importance she follows it down the Tree as it bounces off of the main root and trickles down into the smoke. Morri sighs and rolls her eyes. "Dammit Kat, you're losing your shoes..." Morri brings out her wand, points it into the smoke to summon Kat's shoe for when she gets back down...hopefully safe and sound.

"Accio shoe."

The smoke wisps out a small, black loafer as it comes closer to Morri. She looks around yet again to make sure she wasn't spotted. She grabs the shoe into her hand, her casual expression turning into furrowed brows of curiosity and deception. She sharply peers back up into the height of the tree, her heart dropping yet again. The realization hit her.

"Uhhh...guys...

.....this isn't Kat's shoe."

Katalina was far up now. The dialogue of her friends below were no longer audible. The hundreds of feet that the Snakewood Tree stood tall and proud, and Katalina was at an altitude she could say ventured into life or death territory. She was by no means nearing the peak, but she was however higher than she'd ever been previously. A new record for her. But when she watched a black object drop past her face and down into the now distant courtyard of Ilvermorny, her disposition would change.

"Hi Kat."

It seems like time stopped in that moment. The sound of wind, of life, had suddenly muted itself.

Sitting butterfly-legged along the winding root of the Tree, fiddling with her hands. Ria Pocomtuc. Not only had she climbed further than anyone including Katalina. She was calm, relaxed. Her eyes were watery, but it was weird. They didn't seem filled with liquid due to an excess of emotion, but rather an absence of emotion. She stared down into her lap, void of emotion and cognizance. Just playing with her hands.

"I thought I'd experience fear. But I didn't. The adrenaline didn't even come. I just climbed. I got up this morning and I didn't even hesitate to climb. I didn't feel fear, or worry, or doubt. Because... this is pointless. It's just another action among many actions that will lead to nothingness in the end. End..."

Ria then gets up, and walks to the edge of a branch, the very tip of it. No fear rested in her posture or eyes. She turned back to Katalina. "I started something. I wish I could make you understand. But you won't, nor anyone down there." She then walks back to the main stalk of the tree, Katalina seemingly frozen with fear and shock. Ria stares into her eyes. She then slightly shakes her head. "I remember it, but I don't remember the point of it." Ria looks up into the now dreary and pale sky, the sun covered by clouds. She looks back at Kat, literally standing up on the Tree with perfect balance and emotionless. "Tell everyone... if they want to end it, they should just die. It's easier that way."

Ria would remember the piercing screams of Katalina. It sounded like the most agonizing cry of pain, almost as if the Earth itself was weeping. Ria blankly stares into the smoke along the base of the Tree at the bottom, and without a second thought, she jumps. Kat lunges for her to save her, the momentum from Ria's body tumbling Kat down the stalk of the tree, hitting every focal point on the root to both break her fall and break various parts of her body. Ria was floating gracefully in the air, almost serene as she gains velocity en route towards the thick cloud of smoke. Her eyes staring blankly into the ground as the courtyard becomes bigger and bigger, and more visible. Even in her void, she saw clearly.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Morri]

Morri's wand starts to emit a low musical tone, vibrating slightly in her hand.

The penetrating screams of agony can be heard. The entire courtyard froze. Morri steps closer to the smoke, ready for what may come next, adrenaline and fear cascading her heart. Pieces of bark from the Tree fall from the sky and land into the smoke as Morri spots a body tumbling down the main root of the Snakewood Tree. Her heart instantly pounded, she never took her eyes off of the girl. It was her best friend. It was Kat. She moves to intervene and save her friend, when the peripheral of her vision catches something much more grisly. Another body, falling from the tree in free fall. The eyes, the face. Morri's heart shuttered. It was Ria. A lightning fast synapse came to Morri in a moment of reflexes reserved for the gods of man. Not on her watch. She grunts in power as she quickly flicks her wand at Ria, a loud IMMOBULUS coming from her person. She then quickly ducks into a 360 spin into a kneel while following up with a quick flick again towards Kat, her lips shouting IMPEDIMENTA as the two spells shot off like a cowboy's gun. Ria stares at Morri, just Morri. She falls as the spell closes in on her to stop her momentum, and then, seemingly in a stilled time, Ria gazes into Morri's eyes, and replies a simple "No."

It echoed in Morri's head like a broken record, as Ria casts Finite Incantatem, nullifying Morri's saving grace, as her body drops into the smoke. A crunching thud followed. Pure nervous function seized Morri as she released a surreal and ghastly breath, the screams around her sounding more like ringing. She drops her wand and slumps over, her concentration busted as the thick smoke clears... the misty fog parting permanently to reveal Ria, laying flat among the concrete, blood from her mouth. Staring at one person. Morri. She wasn't breathing. She was gone. Morri hears the outrageous scream of someone, blood curdling. Terrifying. Uncontrollable. It was her own. Katalina slides down from slowed momentum of Morri's quick thinking, but she was battered and bruised on the way down a great deal before the spell was cast. She slides down to the base of the Tree to the ground. She was hurt, but alive. But all Morri could see was Ria. Morri crawls to her and screams repeatedly. She felt hands trying to pry her away from Ria, but Morri was no more movable than the Snakewood Tree from its roots in the ground. She gently placed her hands on Ria's face, screaming why. Why would Ria do such a thing. Finally, with the force of 5 people Morri was clawed away from Ria, as someone held her. Morri didn't know who it was, but she buried her head into the body anyways, crying uncontrollably. Her nerves were shot. Legs were weak, she couldn't feel them. Her hands were trembling severely. Ria Pocomtuc was dead.

She didn't know how much time had passed. But by the time she removed her head from the body she rested on, the entire school was being blocked off by teachers. Headmaster Fontaine looked upon the sight and dropped to his knees in unconditional remorse upon the sight of Ria's body. He held his heart and begin to well up tears but not cry, as some faculty placed a blanket over the beloved Thunderbird. Professor Samson looks on with grave sadness, as he also helps the Headmaster up and attempts to quell the situation as he did nights before. Headmaster Fontaine balls up his fists, as his face goes sour with a repressed rage. He brings his wand to his neck, a Basilisk Horn core wand with Mulberry and Rowan. It was called The Magic Buster. He speaks with amplified voice to the inhabitants of the school, a gruff tone in his voice.
Headmaster.jpeg

"ALL CLASSES CANCELLED. EVERYONE STAY INDOORS UNTIL YOU'RE SUMMONED..... MEETING TONIGHT IN SANCTUARY HALL."

He leaves with the covered body of Ria, some of the teachers weep and help him move her away from the scene. Tears and despair rested in the courtyard at this moment. The bit of blood left behind was cleaned up by staff, hadly keeping their wits about them. You could feel the cold and cruel cloud of anxiety and pain creep through every student, but for the ones that were there, the ones who saw first hand, it was a feeling indescribable. It was as if a heavy weight pressed on their soul and they couldn't remove the burden. As said before. These were the days that Ilvermorny changed forever.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Infirmary]

Morri stared blankly into the floor. The nurse asking her every question in the book about her health. She was in shock, and the nurse knew it. People were coming in and out of the infirmary with small things. Cut fingers, a bad cough, but for Morri, she was lost in herself. Replaying the events over and over again. She was sure Kat would be in here from her entanglement of the Snakewood Tree. Suddenly such a goofy task didn't seem so important. The nurse continued to speak to Morri regardless, knowing she wasn't going to respond. As long as she remained aware it was good enough. Morri glanced over at Ria's old bed in the infirmary, full of treats, flowers, and get well cards. She lowers her head as more tears stream down her face. She'd left her wand in the courtyard. Random thought. She didn't even want to look at it right now. All she could see was Ria cancelling her spell, to die. Morri was sure the Headmaster would be in along with the Head of Horned Serpents, Professor Harkaway. They would pine her for questions when they came, but for now... Morri wanted to be left alone. She knew that wasn't possible though, the stares of students as they walked by the infirmary were the same looks given to Ria on that stretcher nights ago.

Morri was beginning to see what Ria felt.

Darkness.

Higher and higher Katalina climbed. She was sure she was far beyond any point she had reached previously. Feeling her heart swell at the pride and feeling of accomplishment, it was until she felt the next wash that she immediately froze. An object flew past her face making her attention snap upwards. The next moment, the voice made everything clear. Looking over at the person speaking, Katalina couldn't believe it.

Blinking several times her stomach sank. "Ria... Hello...." Kat spoke eyeing the woman with obvious uncertainty. But, more horrifying was the absolute lack of almost any emotion. Listening to her Kat tilts her head "I.. Ria." She mumbled out trying to not only come to terms with her own emotions in the moment, but she struggled immensely with the total lack of emotional input from Ria. Unsure of how to proceed the woman did the only thing she thought possible. Despite her body fighting against her she tried to move closer to the girl.

"The end is an inevitability. All things come to an end, but that is the beauty of it all. For every beginning has an end. Every end is a new beginning." Kat said trying to help the woman. She was right, good or worse there was always a beginning for every end... an end for every beginning. "Ria, why are you.. Hey wait." She said as the woman began to walk towards the end of a branch. While suddenly alarmed she was put at ease. This tree couldn't be pruned... there was no way it was breaking under her weight.

Watching Ria turn back she froze up. Seeing the woman's eyes made her heart sink. This wasn't the same woman... she felt her fear... this was devoid of all emotion. "Ria, you need to com- No one needs to di- Ria!" Kat screamed as the woman stepped off. Lunging forward she lost her own balance. Managing to keep ahold of the tree for a split second everything slowed. Fingers slipping she took a deep breath and exhaled. She wasn't afraid of death... as she said everything ends eventually.

The fall was perhaps one of the most painful moments of her entire life. The torture of being aware for the entire fall was something that was wearing on her. Although in reality it was quick... mentally the anguish lasted for what seemed like hours. Unaware of her surroundings and at this point of what was even going on she only seemed to come back to herself when she hit the ground.

Eyes staring ahead and bloodshot Katalina looked down at herself. She was cut up, bruised and bleeding bad enough for her to act. It was obvious the woman was in a state of shock. As if reacting innately she began to tear off parts of her clothes. Shredding them quickly into small ribbons she managed to tie a few of them around some of her larger slices before her head rested backwards and against the tree. Staring up at the sky Kat finally closed her eyes and exhaled once more. Exhaustion, pain and agony swept over her body. Warmth and cold soon followed as she finally seemed to pass out.

[Infirmary]

Eyes slowly opening Katalina moved within the bed. Her body ached unliked anything she had felt before. Moving a hand slowly up to her face she saw a good part of her arm was bandaged. Letting out a small groan of pain it was obvious the woman wasn't sitting still. Unaware of the nurse speaking to Morri the woman took it upon herself to speed things up. Rubbing her eyes she slowly let her body rest back down on the bed. Moving a hand up to her neck she felt around but couldn't find her necklace.

An overwhelming sense of panic suddenly washed over her. The feeling was intense and alien to the woman. Sitting up once more she ended up making noise as the bed shook. Looking around frantically she finally spotted it and grabbed it instantly. Placing it back around her neck she let out an audible sigh of relief. Cupping it into her hands the woman actually began to tear up and cry.

As everything continued to come back to her as she woke up the memories prior were flooding back. Eyes going wide she clutched the piece of amber harder cutting her unscathed hand on the metal of the necklace. Realizing what she was doing she released her grip and looked at her hand. Shaking slightly she didn't know what to say, what Ria had told her... how.. she was dead.

Flashing images followed next, despite her injuries... she began to recall the emotional surge. Shivering intensely Kat began to sob louder. Burying her face in her arms she let out a sharp cry of pain as a wound reopened due to her not taking her time. She wanted nothing more than to get up and run. She didn't want to run from fear... she needed to run.. she need to get away to think, reflect.
"She jumped.... she just jumped.."
Katalina's voice was wavering but audible.

Thomas gave her a nod. "They're not going anywhere..." He said pertaining to the pastries. Though there was only a little amount left, there should still be some once she gets down - whether she falls or not. "Or at least, hopefully, you don't run out. I'll bake you a cake when you succeed though~" He happily said. It would be a joyous occasion after all and he's been dying to try another recipe. Upon deciding that now was the time to climb and the order to catch her should she fall down, he nodded - giving her a smile as he waved his wand in front of him. "Will do." He didn't respond to her when she told him that she would be fine. He knew she was going to be. She had tried this before, after all. Though, worry was still at the back of his mind and he was constantly pushing it out of the way. As she said, she will be perfectly fine.

As for the teachers, however, now that was a different story. Katalina might get detention. Ah, but oh well, she could handle herself fine. As she took her first steps to climbing, Clare came and then took off a cookie from his tray. Thomas smiled at her, glad that she was here as well. "Morning Sil." He greeted, instinctively stepping closer to her and away from Morri - not that it would be obvious as he took small steps towards her. He was much more familiar with the Thunderbird as she did help him out with his quest to become an animagus - as she was one herself and was personally recommended by their Transfiguration teacher.

Startled by DJ's sudden appearance, he jumped back a little bit but thankfully, the floating tray didn't fall. He then gave him a nervous chuckle but didn't respond to it with a quip. He would have liked to tell DJ that perhaps if he had more self-control, he wouldn't be having this problem. It wasn't like Thomas required anyone to eat his pastries. Merely appreciating that he had them would already be acceptable. But Thomas didn't have the heart in him to say that to the head of the Dueling Club because of a variety of reasons. "Sorry." He decided to respond just as the captain left to coerce Morri to join the Dueling Club once more; though Thomas could predict that the answer would still be the same. And it was, though Morri added a sarcastic reply just before that, and Thomas couldn't help but chuckle a little, though silent so only little could hear.

Thomas could relate to him, actually. He's tried to convince people to try and join the Transfiguration Club, but few people actually do. One of his more memorable pursuits was that of the person beside him - Sil. She was a talented Transfigurer and one that he looked up to, but she didn't join for one reason or another. It was a shame, but at the very least, he has secured lessons with her when it came to the more advanced techniques of Transfiguration.

Spotting Alesea faster than he wanted to admit, he waved her over and was quite pleased when she plucked a treat from the tray. He was rather pleased with the group that assembled at this time. They were all people he knew, people he's been with for quite a while now. His nerves didn't act up at all. This was a good moment. Watching their friend trying to conquer something that wasn't possible before, along with his other friends. It was nice. Felix came barelling in on a broomstick and then asked if they were going to climb the tree. Morri quickly reprimanded him for being too noisy and Thomas couldn't help but laugh. They weren't close, but Mr. Detention was a funny guy. His pranks were funny, even if Thomas sometimes got caught up in them.

As Katalina slowly rose higher and higher, Thomas watched with a slightly worried look on his face. Though he kept a smile on it, ready to prepare a feast of pastries, and maybe even something else, to celebrate everything Katalina comes back with. He was excited for her. Then something came tumbling down and Morri casted the object to her - a shoe. But she said it wasn't Katalina's. "Then... who else is up there?" Thomas couldn't help but suddenly ask, looking up to the tree and then gripping his wand tighter. What the hell...

Then the screams began. Thomas's senses were kicked to overdrive as he joined Morri forward, dropping the tray onto the ground gently as he waited for what was to come. First was a body coming down. Katalina. Then a second. Ria? What... Thomas's mind went blank, but thankfully, Morri's didn't. She caught the two with a spell. But then Ria casted Finite Incatatem to break the spell and then she fell. A loud crunch resonated around them and Thomas could practically feel it. Katalina landed on the ground softly, but her injuries sustained while up the tree was already grave.

Thomas looked towards Morri who was looking at Ria. Dead. Thomas couldn't help but reel back in shock, but knew that there was nothing he could further do about that. Tears were slowly falling down but he had other matters to attend to. Katalina. While the nurse wasn't here, the duty to try and minimize the effects of her injuries fell upon him. He broke into a run and then skidded next to her. He began surveying her injuries, but his mind was clouded by Morri's screaming over Ria's dead body. "Oh God..." He muttered as his vision became blurry and he quickly wiped his eyes.

Katalina was in worse shape than he imagined, though nothing compared to Ria's of course. The open wounds were worrisome but would be remedied by a spell to temporarily close them and a potion... and time. There were quite a number of them, so he had to take his time to slowly heal and bandage them up so she wouldn't die from blood loss. Bruises here and there with multiple shallower cuts - and a broken arm. But that was nothing a potion couldn't fix, and the nurse was excellent on that. But she was alive. And that was all that mattered, now it fell to him so she wouldn't die from her injuries for now while the nurse wasn't around. He muttered spell after spell to close the open wounds so they wouldn't get infected. Then he casted Ferula to bind the broken arm for now. A hand was placed on his shoulder and that was when he noticed that Morri had stopped - or at least she was farther than before. He looked up to see the nurse and he nodded, standing up and then awaiting her orders. She understood that he wasn't going anywhere - not when two of his close friends... one was injured and the other... dead. And then Morri. He looked at her and she looked so broken. He could understand why. He always did - though the severity of the feeling was way worse than what he thought it would be.

The nurse convinced the other teachers that she needed help with the amount of patients she had, so she managed to drag Thomas to the infirmary to help her out. They quickly went to work with Thomas casting a spell to conjure a stretcher, place Katalina on and then levitate her to the infirmary while the nurse took care of Morri. The Headmaster covered Ria up and boomed the order for everyone to stay in their rooms. He quickened his pace to the infirmary, snatching Morri's wand that had fallen and then surrendering it to the nurse.

[Infirmary]
Thomas had been helping around once more, as he always did when he had free time. Right now was free time. Or at least, he took time off Transfiguration Club, which they understood, since he wasn't going to be acting himself for the days that followed. Well, considering the fact one of his friends died. Yes, it was understandable. No one knew it, but he already knew that he would cry himself to sleep that day and wake up with one of the worst headaches ever. The following days, he thought hr would be silent, wouldn't bake anything, hardly pay attention in class and on top of that, he might not even be greeting the Pukwudgies when he passed by them. That was everything normal Thomas loathed. And he did it. He was just out of it. Just for today, however, he baked a fresh new batch - but the House Elves helped with it too much as he kept messing up. He'd done it for when Morri and Katalina would finally respond to them so they had something to eat.

In the infirmary, at least, he could find silence and peace out of the occasional order from the nurse. But at least she didn't ask if he was alright. They had a silent understanding that he was anything but alright. But at least he functioned normally. Though, he would often find himself thinking about how he should be cheering others up instead of sulking. But whenever he did, the picture of Ria's dead body on the ground and Morri's bloodcurdling screams beating on his ears, and he just couldn't. Perhaps another day.

The nurse was talking to Morri to try and get her to respond, but she hadn't ever since she came here, and he doubted it would happen now. He sighed once again. Maybe he should get back to Transfiguration to distract himself more. The infirmary also reminded him of things that had happened - like Ria's old bed still filled to the brim with flowers and other presents.

Katalina stirred from her sleep, but Thomas had been busy with a first year student who had a jinx placed on him, but the counter-jinx was pretty simple and the nurse thought it would be good practice for him. He finished soon enough and the first year thanked him and then continued out. He turned back to see Katalina clutching her necklace, and then suddenly sobbing before a cry of pain. He hurried over to her and placed a hand on her shoulder.

"We know... it wasn't your fault don't worry. Everything will be alright." He reassured her, though he knew that she knew that he was lying through his teeth. Everything will be alright? After everything? Of course it wouldn't be! Thomas knew it in himself. He was fooling himself that things would settle back to normal. And as such, he avoided her gaze - never looking into her violet eyes for more than a second. "But... you know, just let it all out." He rubbed her back for a moment and then stood back and waited for a moment or two to pass before he had to do what he was here for. He felt so useless right now. Emotional support was something he had been good at - but he didn't know what he could say. Death was something he still couldn't cope with, so how could he help anyone else cope with that?

"Lie back down. Your wounds are more serious than you think. It was more serious than what I thought... I need to reapply your bandages." He continued before fetching a potion to the side and then gesturing for her to calm down. "Come on, drink this so you can heal." He paused, looking away from her for a moment before continuing. "I know you want to be alone, so you gotta heal so you can find a nice spot to reflect on." Even if she didn't lie back down, he wrapped a bandage around her using a spell. It's been a while since he's seen an injury this bad. Most he saw were Quidditch players' injuries that they sustained due to a fall.

[fieldbox="Clare 'Sil' Elvertaz, #521FFC"]

Sil kept eating from the cookie as both Morri and Thomas acknowledged her, Thomas taking a couple steps towards her while Morri begun asking a question, only to be interrupted by someone else who she did not know that well. While she could figure out what Morri had intended to say, Sil wasn't sure what she could say in return. It was just so surreal.

Her thoughts about that night were cut short when she saw Morri's antics, which made her smirk as she finished her cookie. Kat had vanished to higher grounds by now, and it seemed like they would have a reason to talk about this day for some time.

More people gathered around, including the known troublemaker Books who arrived on a broom, and a girl she thought she knew, but couldn't remember from where. A moment later a fallen shoe had been retrieved, and Sil wondered if she should transform to a Raven to potentially catch any other stuff that might drop mid-air. Or maybe the troublemaker with his broom could do it.

Only then everything seemed to go wrong. So so wrong.

Two bodies dropping. Morri quickly acting to save both. One still drops, while the other lands safely, yet still injured. Teachers arrive, including the headmaster, and then everyone were brought inside. The entire thing went in a flash for her, almost seemed like it was impossible that all of it occurred.

Yet it did.

Sil didn't quite seem to realize how much time had passed until one of the teachers approached her in the middle of the hall and asked her if she was okay. While the teacher suggested she might need to lay back, as even merely witnessing such a thing could be traumatic, Sil reassured him she is fine. But as the teacher begun to walk away, she came to finally register some of the things that were spoken earlier.

No one allowed outside, and meeting at the sanctuary hall tonight. From the light still present at the windows she understood there was still time until then.

Looking towards the staircase, she figured most people would go and either ask Kat, Morri and everyone else who was present about the ordeal, which actually made her feel a tad relieved that she was not dragged along. Bigger priorities meant she was left on the side.

Any thought about plans to cheer people up abandoned her. She tried hard to think about how she could keep her optimism, but it was hard. As she kept thinking about it, she quickly transformed to a Raven, flew into the Sanctuary Hall and landed on one of the supports next to the roof. The next thing people who looked up would see is Sil sitting on the support, a leg in each side, hugging the small pillar in front of her.

She knew it was only a matter of time before anyone told her to get down, but she figured that would show someone cared. That would be something positive.

Felix jokingly flinched away at Morri's reprimanding, putting his hands up as if to hold her at bay as he worked out an apology, "Sorry, sorry." He cast a sideways glance at the rest of the people present, mentally noting who was there, before continuing.
"-That is a bummer though.", he'd say before turning his attention back up towards Kat as she climbed the tree. He was taken aback at how far she'd gone, and for some reason felt a tinge of pride as she climbed, letting out a dreamy sigh.

She's definitely something else.

His gaze shifted from Kat, when he noticed something falling off of the tree. Fruit? No, shoes. His thoughts were confirmed as Morri magicked the shoes into her hands for whenever Kat came down. Still gazing up at Kat, he furrowed his brow as he saw what looked like another person up in the tree with her . . . He turned towards the others, but before he could utter a single word, everything went to shit.

Kat's screams filled his ears and his heart seemed to stop. Felix's head whipping back upwards he watched as two bodies began to fall from the tree. He felt rooted to the spot, frozen in inaction. Finally his senses came to and he reached for his wand. But he was much too late. Morri however acted immediately attempting to slow their fall. When they both landed, Felix rushed over with the others to their bodies. Kat was still alive, although it seemed just barely thanks to Morri's quick thinking. He felt a sharp pang of guilt at his inability to do anything. Looking over towards the other body, he realized with shock who it was.

"Ria."

He swallowed hard as he looked down on her broken body, her eyes completely lifeless, certain parts of her body bent at unnatural angles. He felt cold as ice, and stood completely frozen in place as he struggled to find the words he needed to say. Morri's screams brought him back to the present, as he tried to pry her away from Ria's body to no avail. Thankfully people began to arrive as he barked at them to help him get Morri up. Felix felt himself shudder, the weight of what had just transpired finally hitting him. Tears welled up in his eyes, barely kept in check by his own force of will, as he just tried his best to keep himself on his feet.

[Wampus Tower]
Felix sat in one of the living room couches feeling completely exhausted. The events from earlier playing in his head on repeat as if on a busted cassette tape. Always a talkative and energetic person, Felix found himself completely silent and lethargic. He leaned back in the chair, looking up at the ceiling in pensive silence, as he rhythmically tapped the arms of the chair with each finger, waiting to be summoned to the Sanctuary Hall.

DJ Interacting with @OppositeInverse @InkaDinkaDoo @Polaris North

DJ stood there somewhat annoyed with Morri. "A simple NO would have sufficed." He looked around at the others starting to laugh and felt a little ticked off. "you know what Morri. you can turn me down all you want but the truth of the matter is that you know i'm right. You have what it takes to do well in the duelist club." Suddenly Booker his junior in the Wampus house stopped by. "dude. how many times do i have to yell at you to not jump into a conversation like a crazy person." DJ was going to start lecturing Morri again when something fell, "a shoe."

Suddenly things started to feel different the atmosphere of fun and laughter got heavier. Branches, twigs and leaves started to fall from the tree. Dj looked up to see two figures falling, "holy shit." He reached for his wand but had it tucked tightly in his waste band since he had been running. It had happened so quickly but he felt it all going so slow. He saw a figure falling, then right behind was another one. He unzipped his jacket, he got it down half way and they fell closer to the ground. he had it 3/4 of the way down and they got closer, when he unzipped it and reached for his wand they were visible. "Ria, Kat?" He pulled his wand but was to late.

Morri quickly shot two enchantments in the time it took him to draw his wand. A relief swept the crowd until they heard Ria cast her own spell. DJ took Aim "Aresto Momentu.." He was hit from behind by a fellow student rushing to the scene. "shit no." A loud thud and several cracks rang out through out the area. DJ Stood still unable to process what he had seen. He saw Kat land, Thomas rushed to her side, he knew she'd be ok since Thomas was always hanging out in the infirmary. He looked over to Morri who was now crawling to Ria.

The onlookers tried to pull her off Ria, but were struggling. DJ shook off his confusion and rushed over he moved them aside and pulled her away, she turned and buried her face into his Chest. "Morri, Jesus Christ Ria. What the F..." He said as he fought off the tears. they were so close to Ria's lifeless body. She had an odd look on her face for someone who had just committed suicide almost like she was happy. "get them back." he yelled to the higher years. "get the younger years back!"

Later

DJ was in the Duelist club room. He was full of conflicting emotions. on one hand he just saw a fellow class mate and good friend die in front of his eyes but on the other he was Upset with himself that Morri was faster than him. "FUCK!!!" he yelled out in a fit of rage. He drew his wand and aimed at all dummies on the wall. "Deletrius!" He said as the first dummy disintegrated into a million pieces. "Incendio" the second burst into flames. "INCENDIO DUO" the third and fourth burst in to flames. "INCENDIO TRIA" The rest of the Dummies were set ablaze by the massive fire spell.

Dj turned and aimed at the wall where their lockers were "DIFFINDO" the lockers were shredded into pieces. DJ aimed at the walls where the trophy's and awards were "Bombarda Maxima!!!" A huge explosion took out the entire wall, smoke and debris filled the air as DJ walked to the center of the room. he fell to his knees and hit the floor. "damn it." Tears started to fall from his face as he couldn't hold them back anymore. He felt like Ria's death was his fault he wished for something like this to happen, something to test his skills. He also felt bad for being Jealous that Morri was the one to cast the spells first. "Damn it. i am a jerk."

As DJ continued to feel sorry for himself the room which had been enchanted with a self restoration spell started to return to normal. The dummies slowly started to repair themselves until they were as good as new. The lockers were putting themselves back together, the metal twisted until they standing upright in place. The wall started to build itself, the trophy's and awards materialized and set themselves back in place. Dj sat there sulking in the dim light of the the duelist club.

The sounds of sobs and silent cries broke Morri's fixation into the zoned out. She looks over to Ria's bed, full of the stuff she was sure was going to be doubled now in her friend's death, and then past it to the end of the infirmary on the bed to see Kat. She was wrapped at the arm in bandage, as Thomas was seen talking to her and tending to the lesser injuries. Her cries made Morri tear up once more, thinking about both Ria and her roommate. Thomas rubbed her back and emphasized for her to calm down. The nurse was checking Morri's body for any lacerations or anomalies, but the girl was physically and completely intact. The nurse brought a tray over with her wand, her horrible repulsive wand she didn't want to look at.

Nurse: "Mr. Holleyway brought this for y--"

Morri shoves it away. The nurse balancing the tray in order for it not to fall. The nurse picks good on the balance and places it on Morri's bed, with the aloof girl turning away from it. She saw poor Thomas trying to tame the Horned Serpent as Katalina continues to move and shift herself trying to best her injuries and remain strong, and with each effort her groans of pain and wounds strike her. She saw that Kat was clutching her amber necklace, the one of her families' last heirings. More and more Thomas tried, and more and more Kat would move trying to escape the clutches of the situation that befell her. Almost involuntarily, Morri instinctively gets off of her bed, and walks over to her roommate whom was in pain. She stood over her, looming with a piercing aura. Morri's ice cold eyes stab into Kat's soul like they commonly do. Morri's eyes have a reputation for breaching past the physical. She looks at her best friend and roommate with disciplinary but emotional eyes, trying to keep it together for the both of them.

"Be still. You hear me? STOP. I can't have you hurting yourself. I can't have anyone else hurt today I.. I.."

She starts to tremble, eyes well up with fluid. She begins to sob and sulk into Kat's chest. "I can't stand anymore pain today.." She submits herself as she breaks down on Kat. She felt weak in all facets. Allowing Thomas and even the nurse to see her like this. Sure, given the events they were completely understandable, but Morri had a reputation of not just her academic and athletic feats, but her will. She had the willpower of a dragon. But now she felt like a shell, an empty husk of what she once was. She curls up on the bed beside Kat, resting her head on Kat's unharmed arm. This way Morri won't go crazy with rage and bitterness (for now), and Kat can keep her ass still. It seemed like time ran on another system, the day long and never ending as the solitude of the infirmary was daunting. Students would come by and creepishly look at Ria's bed, and then to Kat and Morri before returning to their respective places to be summoned to Sanctuary Hall.

The presence of the air felt lighter suddenly, as Headmaster Fontaine and Professor Harkaway entered the infirmary in a stoic remorse. The nurse goes over and silently talks to them on the status of the two main students of focus. Professor Harkaway was the head of Horned Serpents, so he was the first to come over as the Headmaster and the nurse conversed. He nods to Thomas in a noble respect for his aid in the situation. He then squats beside a faltering Kat and Morri, looking at both of them in even sight. His nickname was Hark. He was known to be a bit of a hard ass as well as a wise one, both negative and positive connotations of the word. But in this moment, he would seem the opposite. He bows his head in sympathy and looks at Kat, since Morri was sobbing.

Hark: "I...I wanna say I'm sorry, but I know it doesn't cut it. What you girls saw and went through today. But you know what has to happen now right? I have to be that guy. Question you. You're my girls, I'll always be here for you. So just know that no matter what happens, I got your back. You have to be frank with me. Yeah?"

Morri sniffles and removes her head from Kat's chest, looking at Hark as a unspoken sign that she is compliant. Hark returns a light smile, something the guy rarely does. He rests his arms on the bed while squatted and begin to speak to the girls.

Hark: "Did you know Ria was on the Snakewood Tree? Witnesses said there was smoke... you were trying to conquer the tree Kat...again. Right? What happened? What did you experience?" Hark then turns his attention to Morri. "Students said if it weren't for your quick wit, Kat would be dead. There'd be two deaths instead of one. They also told me...they said that Ria...."

Morri simply looks at Hark, a tear rolling down. She reluctantly nods and affirms his suspicion. "She cancelled my spell. I didn't know she was up there...I wasn't fast enough. I-- I had her, right in my sights. And she just...she said no. And then her body--" Morri's emotions seized her as she couldn't even stomach herself to say it. What she saw, how mangled Ria was but her face was so.... at peace. "I wasn't enough.."

Hark pulled Morri's jaw in his direction, so that she couldn't ignore his next bit of information. "Morri Lillith Skopos, you were more than enough. Ria was just tired. She was struggling and in so much pain... and no one knew about it until it was too late. Don't EVER think that you're not enough. Know who you are. I know you two feel guilty as if there was something different you could've done, but Ria wanted to die, and nothing was going to stop her from doing that. That's not your control, nor your fault."

The Headmaster finishes up with the nurse and comes over to join Hark, instead he stands tall and bold at the edge of the bed. His chest puffed out in strength for the students, almost like a beacon of hope for the two distraught girls. "I'm sorry. Deeply. Ria was a light to us all, I wish you girls didn't have to go through that. Get some rest. For all our sakes." He then looks over to Ria's bed, full of love and affectionate items. He wanders over and runs his hand along the bed, touching the flowers and cards with closed eyes. He opens them again with watery retina, and following a bowed head of remorse, takes his leave from the infirmary. He delivers a message to the entire school via Sonorus.
Headmaster.jpeg

"SANCTUARY HALL MEETING IN 30 MINUTES."

Morri and Kat were confined to the Infirmary, with Hark dismissing Thomas so that he may attend the meeting. Hark concludes the questioning by asking the ones that would probably hit hardest the most. "Katalina. Morri. Is there anything you're not telling me about the situation? Did she say anything? Did you know anything beforehand? Now's the time to speak up, while I can still help you."

Morri returns eye contact, with a confident and sharp. "No." She then looks to Katalina, who had her own experience with Ria before she jumped. After the questioning is over, Hark returns another apology for the girls' turmoil, before standing up and beginning to leave for the meeting. He stops with his back turned to the girls.

Hark: "Your punishment in violation of Ilvermorny conduct by climbing the Snakewood Tree is that you both are prohibited from being within 20 feet of the Tree until the notice is lifted. You are also suspended 3 games in the Quidditch Cup excluding the Twin Academy Cup. Now... in courageous and selfless acts of saving fellow students from harm and saving a life, 200 points will be added to Horned Serpents. Also, you are granted reprieve from any extra-scholastic affairs for rest and recovery."

Professor Harkaway then takes his leave, as Morri, Kat, and the nurse remained. The Sanctuary Hall meeting was nearing, but for the two girls, rest and silence awaited them. Morri rested her head back on Kat's shoulder, finally managing to muster out words of cognitive awareness and composure.

"How are you feeling?"

Katalina was entirely unaware of Thomas's approach. Startled at first she slowly seemed to relax at his touch. Looking up at him she struggled to keep from crying more. Tears slowing she seemed to relax with the exception of her shaking. The pain caused her to shake, she was aware now... her tears were bitter... crying wouldn't help. Despite her attempts to get up she finally relented momentarily.

Letting Thomas rebandage her wound was about as much as he was going to get from her right now. She shook her head and refused the potion until Morri began to move. Within a moment the woman was looming over her. Refusing to meet her gaze at first Kat finally relented and looked up at her. She hadn't spoken to her friend yet... this was all her own fault. She could have caught Ria in the tree and nothing would have happened. But... she didn't and now everyone was suffering for her short coming.

Kat stopped moving entirely in that moment. Not bringing herself to speak she simply nodded and took the potion Thomas had given her. "Thank you.." Kat said barely above a whisper. Despite everything, she began to change at the sight of her best friend's emotional distress. She had relented to Thomas to help ease his own feelings... but this was different. Morri had come to her... like Kat had to her their first year.

A very brief and wavering smile came across her features. "You can not... but I can. Let me take your pain... I would if I could." Kat said, internally fighting to keep herself from showing how she was truly feeling. Finally relaxing Kat let Thomas reapply the bandages he needed. The tension in her body seemed to begin to give before she finally laid back and relaxed. Looking at Thomas she wanted to say something but, couldn't find the words to thank him in the manner she wanted to. "I won't forget this." She managed to say. It sounded blunt but she felt like an anvil rather than the hammer.

Time passed and soon Thomas had rebandaged all he could. With her no longer squirming and moving she wasn't tearing open any of her wounds. Seemingly docile the woman was soon startled by the presence of the Headmaster and the head of her house. Tensing up she knew what was coming. Biting her lip rather hard she felt panic rising up through her system but managed to keep from jumping out of her skin. She wasn't afraid to speak... she was terrified to relive the entirely devoid emotional attachment to the events.

Luckily, things progressed in a manner that didn't invoke the woman to jump from her skin. Listening as Hark spoke Katalina didn't know what to say. How does one experience another experience? But, said experience is something you can not bring into context. Immediately the circus rides began to spin up as she thought about the events prior. Hark turned his attention to her... what did she experience... how could she even talk about it?

Turning her head towards Hark her normally amethyst eyes seemed dull and lackluster compared to their normally bright nature. The eyes were the gate way to the soul and although she was hiding how she felt, there was not mistaking it... the woman had seen and heard things she didn't know how to talk about. Turning her head away quickly she choked up and gripped Morri's hand tightly in her now lightly bound hand.

With the Headmaster and Thomas leaving Kat seemed to animate once more. Turning her head back towards Hark the woman hadn't heard anything said in the last few minutes. Staring him in the eyes Kat finally spoke up. The emotional feedback from Ria flooding her brain once more. Gripping Morri's hand even tighter she began to bleed once more "I hadn't felt it before. Something overwhelmed her...." Kat spoke. Her words emotionless and as direct as a rifle round. "She said it was best if we all died. Feeling her pain and than how devoid she was. She believed it... entirely. She wasn't scared anymore... she was okay with it all... even as she hit the ground... this was the beginning." Kat said before blinking and snapping back to herself.

Choking up she closed her eyes and turned away from Hark. She couldn't look at him "I tried to stop her... she took me with her." Kat finished, her voice quivering and almost distant. Kat didn't speak anymore, she heard Hark stand up and walk out. The punishment didn't matter... the real punishment was living with it all.

Wrapping her arms around Morri Kat took a deep breath. Now alone with Morri and with the nurse being the only one within the infirmary besides them Kat was able to actually take time to focus on Morri. But, the woman spoke first... Kat was beyond relieved she did.

"I feel distant... Morri, this was sudden..." Kat spoke trying to come to terms with herself. Lowering her voice Kat choked up "Rai was different... she was waiting for me. Or was she going to do it anyway... was I meant to witness this? Was I to die with her?" Kat asked her voice peaking up. She felt her skin crawl at the thought. Squeezing Morri tightly she felt pain across her shoulders. Wincing before letting out a gasp she shook her head as blood began to trickle down her shoulder "I deserve this. I should have said something that night... but I didn't." Kat murmured. "Please don't go anywhere." Kat begged Morri.

Thomas struggled to keep Katalina in her bed. Though, after a while, she stopped and allowed her to properly bandage her up which brought great relief to the male teen. She reopened a few wounds but nothing a few bandages and the potion wouldn't heal, thankfully. Hearing another set of footsteps, he looked up to see Morri heading towards them. He looked back at the nurse who simply nodded. Morri wasn't injured in any way so it was fine. The two girls sought each other, it would seem. They needed each other. Even after Morri joined Kat on the bed, he continued his work. Morri had been crying, and it pained him - it shook him to the core. Morri was not known for crying. She was known for standing strong in the face of adversary. Katalina had been more or less the same in his eyes. To see the two girls sobbing was painful.

More painful than he could imagine.

There was a moment of hesitation that flashed on his face - irritation - as Katalina denied Morri's help. Some part of him wanted to yell that Morri was trying to help, that Katalina should just say it so she wouldn't suffer alone. But this wasn't the time, and he was in no position to say that. He kept his mouth shut and his eyes only at the areas he needed to bandage, trying his best to avoid their gaze as much as possible. They had no need for him. Not now, at the very least. He finished up and then placed his wand into his pocket once more. As he was preparing to turn around and rearrange some potions, he heard Katalina thank him - telling him that she would never forget this. He smiled at her. "It's no problem, Kat. Anything for you girls."

The moment passed and the doors opened to reveal the Headmaster and Professor Harkaway - Horned Serpent's Head of the House. Thomas bowed to the two in respect and gave way for them to approach the girls. The nurse hurried to them to explain the situation. Thomas glanced at the two girls, giving them encouraging smiles before looking back as Professor Harkaway made his way to them. He was surprised when the Professor nodded at him - a nod of grattitude. He gave him a small smile and a nod back. It was no problem at all.

Thomas said nothing in the entire exchange. He didn't want to listen, but he figured that leaving now would just cause attention to be drawn to him. Hearing Professor Harkaway sound so soft to the two girls surprised him, but he shouldn't have been. Given what they've been through, he doubted being strict and harsh was the best way to go to it. Hearing Morri tear herself up over Ria's death made him almost drop the potion he was holding, but he quickly caught himself and the potion and placed it in the cabinet, returning it to its proper place. Right, she was guilty over that despite it being clear that Ria had wanted to die. She cancelled the spell. They all heard it. Hell, he saw it.

Headmaster Fontaine ended his conversation with the nurse, gave the two girls his sentiment - however little it seemed - and annoucned the meeting in Sanctuary Hall before walking out. Professor Harkaway gave him the go signal to leave. Before he did, however, he said, "One moment sir?" He said as he walked to the two girls, the urge to embrace them was great. Something to show them that he cared and that he wanted to help as much as he can. But he couldn't bring himself to do it, for one reason and another. His dark brown eyes sofened even beyond before as he placed his hands onto their shoulders, the most contact he could do right now. "I'll always be here for you girls alright? Just... please don't hesitate to call when you need something. I know I don't feel the same weight as you two, but I lost a friend too. Ria was..." His voice cracked and he cleared his throat, biting back the tears. "She was one of the best friends I could ask for. So I can at least feel you girls in that regard." He patted their shoulders once and then pulled back. "I made some more pastries for you girls to eat, since you haven't eaten anything this morning." He then brought the tray near them and placed them on the table. His gaze held onto theirs for another moment before he retreated outside to follow the Headmaster.

Now alone, the silence was bearing down on him. He quickened his strides, wanting to go and find the Headmaster or anyone to accompany him. Anyone's presence would be appreciated. Anyhing to keep him out of his own head. Anything to keep out the thoughts of failure. Anything.., anyone... Ria always cheered him up when he was feeling down because he almost flunked a subject, saying that she's been through that too. She gave him pointers on what to study just in case the tests were the same. He felt dizzy all of a sudden, leaning to the wall beside him. Tears began falling and he wiped them quickly, but it was no use. It just continuously fell.

Why'd she have to do that in the first place? What happened that day? That night when the Thunderbird House lit up and scared everyone. When the Headmaster stumbled around, just as dazed and confused as everyone else, but more. Everything changed at that moment - she changed for a reason no one understood. He wanted to know why. He wanted to know if there had been any chance to help her. Could he have reached out to her more, convince her that death wasn't the answer?

He spent a few minutes there before finally finding the will to soldier on. He reached Sanctuary Hall, relishing in the amount of people there despite them being distressed due to everything that had happened. His eyes were drawn upwards by instinct, knowing a certain someone liked to hang up the support beams. And indeed, she was there. He opened his mouth to call out to her, but he faltered and closed his mouth. Perhaps it wouldn't be a good idea to shift anyone's attention to him. But then again, he was sure that she wouldn't go down as long as no one called out to her.

"Sil!" He called out, flinching at how loud it was since the Hall was more silent than he originally imagined it to be. Once she looked at him, he gestured for her to come down. "The meeting's starting soon!" He continued before bowing his head and then hurrying up to the Pukwudgie table and then siting down with his eyes only at the tabel in front of him. Members of his house seemed to want to ask him something, but they understood that he didn't exactly want to talk about what happened at the Snakewood Tree or what transpired inside the infirmary while he was tending to Katalina's wounds. Besides, he could just say that it was told to be kept a secret - it might as well been.

He wouldn't look at anyone, but if someone were to look at him, it would be obvious that he had been crying as his eyes were still a little red and he would sniffle every now and then. He crossed his arms and rested his head on it. Inside, he was silenlty asking for Alesea to arrive or something. Anyone who he knew well. While he appreciated the occasional pat on the back coming from his friends from Pukwudgie. He would often hum in appreciation. It had been rare to see him so down like this.

Just one day, he thought to himself, this one day. There was too much emotional baggage coming from both Ria's death and seeing two of the toughest girls he knew break down. But he knew that someone needed to keep everyone high in spirits no matter how difficult that would be.

If no one would do it, then he sure as hell will.

She had been up on the support beam for a bit of time before the announcement from the headmaster to gather in the hall. Afterwards, Sil watched in silence as the other students begun to gather in the hall. A few had noticed her and pointed, but no one called out to her. She didn't really expect anyone who doesn't know her personally to call out to her, even if she was in a really weird place.

The silence in the hall somehow kept on being present, even with the increasing number of student. It seemed the occurrence has shifted the mood across everyone, and it didn't matter if they had been there or not. Everyone heard of what happened, everyone had a hard time swallowing it in.

It seemed like some of her fellow Thunderbirds, those who knew Ria well, were also going between the tables of the other houses and giving a quiet request to conjure some memorial candles in memory of her. Even though it was an act done in remembrance of Ria, Sil couldn't help but feel it also showed goodness as some students responded and begun doing so.

Taking out her own wand, Sil conjured a candle as well, but before she had time to light it up and figure out where to place it, a call from below attracted her attention. Putting the candle and wand in her pocket, she spotted Thomas, who then proceeded to remind her that the meeting is about to begin as he gestured down. Giving him a nod before watching him sit down at the Pukwudgie table, she felt relieved. She had gotten the sign of care that she wanted to see, further restoring her optimism that everything will be fine at the end, as long as they supported each other.

It had taken very little time for her to change to a raven, fly down to the floor with some students looking at awe due to not having seen this before, and then changing back. She approached Thomas from behind, who appeared like someone who needed a lot of support, and she could only imagine why. He was closer to Morri and Katalina than she was, and the whole thing must had him shaken bad.

Grabbing a hold of his left shoulder with her left hand, Sil gave it a good squeeze before taking out her wand. Pointing it at his napkin, a quick movement with it and a whisper of "Draconifors", the napkin changed into a small dragon. The tiny white, winged lizard would then start going towards Thomas's right hand, as if asking to climb onto his hand but not daring to do so without his permission.

Without waiting to see Thomas's response, she went towards the Thunderbird house table and sat down, with the majority of the table being quiet. Even if they did not talk to her on a regular basis, everyone knew her. Everyone looked up to her. Everyone will miss her. That was the feeling that could be felt from the table, if not the room. Taking her candle out, she lit it up and placed it in front of her.

DJ enters the great Hall

DJ heared the announcement as he finished off another volley of spells, trying to get rid of his mixed feelings. As the headmaster's voice boomed, DJ didn't notice rubble flying twords his face. The Penny sized granite flew at DJ's face cutting his cheek. "Oww, damnit." He said as he reached for his cheek. He felt something wet and looked at his hand. "Blood? Perfect." He decided to leave the wound it'll help him remember that this was a wake up call to get stronger. The room started to go back to normal just as DJ left the club room.

DJ left his emotions in the Dueling club, as soon as he passed the doorway he was the same DJ people have grown to love and respect. He passed several underclassmen on his way to the hall. They all looked as if they had been crying this whole time. He quickly wiped his eyes checking for tears making sure no one saw that he did shed a few tears for his fallen friend.

Dj reached the great hall he sat with his house and looked atound. He could remember just this morning everyone was laughing and talking loudly, goofing off while they enjoyed a meal together. Now, it was as if they were attending a funeral. DJ could hear the sound of sobbing among the higher years. He shook it off and took his seat. A serious look occupied his face as he sat cross armed and ready.

"SANCTUARY HALL MEETING IN 30 MINUTES.", the words of the Headmaster thunder throughout Wampus Tower making some people, including Felix jump. Taking a single long breath, he rises to his feet and makes his way out of the tower, descending the steps with a heavy heart.

His mind still replaying the events on a reel. The moment both Kat and Rae were falling and he'd failed to act in time. The image of Rae's lifeless body and Kat's injuries. Thomas doing his best to deal with Kat's injuries. Morri breaking down in front of them. He knew it wasn't his fault, he wasn't the only one under the tree at the time . . . So why did he feel so guilty?
Why was this bothering him so much? Yes, it was a very tragic occurence -- but it wasn't like he knew Rae very much at all. He'd seen her around, and had a few classes over the years. But they'd never even had a real conversation before.

And now you never will. No one will, because you were too slow. Some Wizard you are. Couldn't even pull off a simple levitation spell.

The thoughts came unbidden, snaking their way to the forefront of his mind. Felix stopped walking as he felt his eyes begin to heat up, the threat of crying a very real possibility as he grew more and more frustrated.

No.

Gripping his own forearm, he steadied himself. Realizing his hands had been shaking just moments before. It wasn't like him to be this emotional -- this unbalanced. Frustrated, he mutters to himself, "Man up.", before continuing towards the Hall.

Pausing right in front of the main doors, he takes a moment to compose himself before walking in. The events of the day had left the entire school in a dark and depressive mood. But Felix wouldn't let this bother him -- or at the very least he wouldn't let anyone see he was upset. Forcing his trademark grin onto his face, Felix made his way into the Hall striding confidently and waving goofily to anyone who made eye contact with him. Making his way over to his House, he slid into a seat, immediately resting his elbows on the table and holding his head in his hands as he waited for the Headmaster to speak his piece.

The doors open, an echo through the silence of the young masses. The Headmaster complete in full school robe, with all four House signs, the Ilvermorny Crest on his chest. Students stare as he and the four heads of houses walk behind him in a line. Silent and yet stricken faces. They each wore their school robes and represented their House crest with will. There was Hark, whom was head of Horned Serpent. Behind him was Antina Goldstein, Head of Pukwudgie. Follpwing her was Jack Graves, the Head of Wampus. And last but not least, the Head of Thunderbird, Portina Goldstein; She was also the sister of Antina. Hark was the hard ass/wise ass, Jack was the confident yet charismatic leader type that was the talk of all the school girls, Antina was the quiet one, probably the nicest of the four, and then her older sister Portia, who was silent more so in that creepy and chilling way, like she knows everything about you and you have no idea why. The Headmaster takes his place at the podium, the four heads lining across behind him, as the rest of the school's faculty and staff come through the door and lines along the walls surrounding the students. Sanctuary Hall, filled with students as The Headmaster and The Four Heads all stand stoic and silent among the students, who seemed blank with expression and submission in their eyes. The Headmaster spots one empty seat at the back of the hall, a seat that was supposed to be filled by a student. Ria. He then spots a few more, thinking of Morri and Kat in the infirmary. He looks at the podium for a moment, gathering himself and thoughts. An unspoken wisdom rests on his face as he then makes eye contact with his fellow students.

Headmaster.jpeg

Headmaster Fontaine: "First thing's first. Morri Skopos and Katalina Romanov are fine. They will both make a full recovery, and are in the infirmary resting. I ask that if you decide to visit them be kind, be courteous, and think about the spirit of this school. They need peace right now, not persecution. But also....

....also. We have lost a light. A beacon. A future. Some of the younger years may not have known her personally, but I know her example has directly influenced you in some way. I'm sure it's a weight that everyone carries now, knowing the events that transpired at 6:26 AM this morning. One of our students, Ria Pocomtuc, fell from the Snakewood Tree, and despite the extremely selfless and brave acts from our students, she didn't make it. I know what it's like to feel total loss. Loss of words, of emotion, everything. Look at me when I tell you this: We will not be defeated. Ria Pocomtuc was one of the most brilliant souls this planet was ever graced with. And we will always carry her with us."

Sobs started to arise in the silence. A few cries went out.

"She is not lost. She is with each and every one of you. Inside your soul. Carry her, cherish her in everything that you do. When you look to someone in malice and darkness, remember Ria. Lift one another up, do not defeat one another in spite. The Four and I are currently contacting Ria's family... a family whose history and tradition at this school extends back to our very founders. Ria was the descendant of two of the very founders, James Steward and Isolt Sayre. Keep the family in your hearts and thoughts, as you will be notified of proceedings for Ria's final ceremony. I'm so sorry you kids are feeling what you're feeling. I wish I could take it away, but this unites us, this forges us. Together."

The Headmaster turns and nods to Portina Goldstein, as the Thunderbird's head steps up to the Podium, her eyes filled with tears but a strong resolve in her posture. Her sister Antina wearing the sympathy on her face as she grips her Pukwudgie crest. Portina speaks to the students, specifically looking at the Thunderbird table. "I'm sorry. I honestly don't know how I can mold words for this, but I know we have each other. We have everyone here. If any of you want to talk, need ANYTHING. Come to me. Don't hesitate. We will get through this. Ria's room will be off-limits, as MACUSA is coming down to investigate some of the recent events to transpire. I ask on behalf of Thunderbird that my house will respect and comply with them once they arrive. Classes are cancelled and will resume tomorrow. I urge everyone to take the time to grieve, to release and to be there for one another today. Thank you." Portina starts to step away from the podium, until a Thunderbird student launches from her chair and speaks out in defiance. Every pair of eyes meet hers as she stares at the Headmaster and Head Portina in anger and disgrace. It was Sabrina Andrews, Ria's roommate. Teachers behind her try to calm her but she jerks away.

Sabrina: "So that's it!? We just go our merry little ways and cry and sing songs and try to act like the other night didn't happen!? YOU were there Head Goldstein! You saw what we ALL saw in Thunderbird, the ones who watched Ria--"
Portina: "Enough."
Sabrina: "--watched Ria's fear! It wasn't just a nightmare! Nightmares don't break windows and tear the room apart! I was RIGHT there I saw it all! When she wanted to hurt herself....What she did to The Headmaster--"
Headmaster: "Sabrina. We need peace, not persecution as I've said. Think about your actions..."
Sabrina: "Think about YOURS! You tell us it's going to be all okay when we both know something else was there that night. And you expect us to keep silent and grieve!? Let me ask you something, if it was ANY student that Ria touched instead of you, would you have ignored it then? Or would you have squeezed what they saw out like a sponge?! So why should it be different for you!? Just because you're Headmaster you get immunity or not questioned!?"
Headmaster: "ENOUGH SABRINA! Incite panic further and I will issue detention! I understand your frustration but you are out of line."

Sabrina scoffs into a laugh of shock and awe at the Headmaster's words. It was more of an insulting laugh rather than a coping mechanism. She stands on the table and glares right at the Headmaster. "HA! DETENTION!? I just lost my best friend and roommate, a girl who would NEVER do the things students are saying she did and you think I give a damn about detention!? Don't bother. Because if you can't tell us the truth in order to save face and keep things quiet, I QUIT. To hell with this school." Sabrina then storms towards the door, as some teachers move to block it.

Portina: "Sabrina Andrews stop! Now!"

Sabrina presses onward, reaching the door and daring the teachers to touch her. "Lay a hand on me and I'll have MACUSA down your neck for negligence and assault. Move." She then shoulder bumps past the teachers as she slams the door to Sanctuary Hall. The mood went from silent remorse to tension. Students looked to the Heads as Portina had a look of anger on her face, but then looks to the Headmaster in curiosity.

Headmaster: "Everyone's hurting, it's imperative you don't lose yourself because of it, like Ms. Andrews just displayed. Dismissed."

For the first time, Agilbert looked angered, his expression sending paralyzing nerves through students as he walked with absolution from the Hall, the Heads following him. The teachers, staff, and students were left to leave on their own will, and when the Headmaster reached the privacy of his office. He wept deeply. No one would know.

Ilvermorny had seen better days.
