Enju
Enju watched as Koa headed up to the front after his name was called. Once again she was alone but Koa had talked her into taking the test... not that it was all that hard to do after all she didn't have anyone telling her not to take the test. She opened and closed her hand a few times as a way of waving him off. She was too afraid to do anything more than that... after all she didn't want to draw attention to herself. "Good luck Koa." She murmured even though she was pretty sure he couldn't hear her. After all she couldn't even see him through the crowd anymore. But that was ok, all she had to do was pass this to see him again right? He would be waiting for her, she was sure of it.
It wasn't more than a minute or two before her name was called. Her heart started to race as her feet started to move forward. She didn't really want to do this anymore... but she wanted to see Koa again, she couldn't let him down after he continued to help her. She had to repay him somehow and in order to do that she would have to be by his side until the time came. She continued to make her way through the crowed with quiet, excuse mes and sorrys. She broke free from the crowd only to stop to take in her surroundings. Her partner... 'What was her name again? The examiner said... Cora right?... Oh I don't know. I'm such a horrible partner.' It took but a second before she decided to just pretend to not hear the other name that was called. She didn't want to offend her partner.
Once again she started to head up to the front but a firm hand came down on her shoulder stopping her from moving. "It's ok little girl. You don't have to take the exam. In fact I would be happy to take your spot. Go ahead and run home now, I'll pair off with that beaut and take the test." She froze, what was she supposed to do? Koa told her to take the exam. Who was this man? She turned her head and looked up at him, he was large... (and though she didn't know it he was also the man that had attempted but failed to beat up Sora) "S-sorry, but I would like-" "Huh? I don't care what you would like to do, I'm telling you to go home." She froze, a shiver running down her spine, she could feel it. Blood lust, it was so strong... "I-I" She said trying to fight it, but his blood lust was so thick... "want to-" her breathing got heavy, if only she could take a few steps away from him. "take the test."
Cora Cora had watched as her brother climb up the ladder and diving in the obstacle course, losing sight of him immediatly after. She waited the entire time, her arms crossed and her eyes fixated on the ladder and the other contestants. She studied them on how they climbed the ladder. She patiently waited until her name was called, calmly making her way through the crowd and to the front. She turned to see who this Enju was, wondering who her partner was. She didn't really care who it was, as long as the peerson was strong. That's when she saw her, a small and young girl had walked up. She mentally sighed
Oh great, just my luck. I gotta worry about me and a kid.
Cora watched as the young girl was being bullied by a larger man, giving off a killing intent. She smirked, not phased by the man. To her, he was just as big as a puppy. She walked over, pulling out her right hand from her glove and walking up to them "Listen, she wants to take the test so" She placed her hand on a certain part of his neck and tightly squeezed, the large man showing obvious pain. That's when Cora showed her killing intent, it dwarfing the man who was intimidating the young girl "Now back off before I snap your arm off"
"Gah, alrigh alright. J-just let go already dammit!" Cora released her grip, the large man slightly stumbling forward. He grabbed the part which Cora had squeezed on "C-crazy bit-" Before he could finish, Cora's fist was infront of the man. Her eyes showed off a killing intent which made the man fall on his ass. "Another word and I'll make sure it's the last words you speak, got it?" The man slowly nodded before getting up and running to the back of the group to hide his embarrassment.
Cora turned to Enju, her eyes calm and collected "C'mon. You'll need more courage than that to finish the exams" She turned around and began to walk to the front "But that was a good start" She said as she continued to the front.
Enju
Enju hadn't noticed Cora coming up to help her so when a hand wrapped around a portion of the mans neck her eyes widened. She wasn't exactly sure what was going on until she turned her head to face forward. It was only then that she realized her partner came over to help her. She felt so hopeless, already two people had to step in to help her, she really couldn't do anything without her friends... this was all too stressful. Perhaps instead of hindering everyone around her she should have just gone home while she had the chance. Though now that wasn't an option, she wanted to pay Koa back... and now she felt like she had to pay... her partner back. It seemed her list would just keep growing.
The mans grip left her shoulder and she started to move away from him but froze after feeling a new blood lust. She had thought the previous one was bad... but this. Slowly she shrank like a withering flower until she was on her knees with her arms wrapped around her torso. The one thing she hated, that one feeling, it was so dreadful and she couldn't understand how anyone could produce such an evil aura.
But just as suddenly as it started it vanished and she felt a wave of relief wash over her. Her eyes wondered up towards Cora as she started to regain control over her breathing. "S-sorry." Was the only thing she could manage to say as she once again got to her feet however as she started to follow Cora anyone could see she was visibly shaken. She feared blood lust, when people succumb to it they start to change and it was never for the better.
As they approached the ladder she took a deep breath and got a hold of herself. "Sorry for bothering you." She mumbled looking down, "I'm sorry, I didn't here your name. I'm Enju." As she spoke she started to pay attention to her surroundings again, using her Geniuses Sensory, and though at first she didn't notice it, she realized the course was a living being (she doesn't know about nen which is why its a geniuses skill). "The course-" She started but stopped. Cora would only think ill of her for saying something like that...
Cora
Cora firmly walked forward, without taking a single moment to look at the ones around her. She listened to Enju introduce herself, but did not turn back once. "The name is Cora. Also, if you wish you be a hunter. I have one word of advice to you, get used to bloodlust. This won't be the first time you encounter it" Cora looked at first part of the test, the current running through the metal ladders. Unfortunately, she wasn't immune to pain like her brother and she also had metal plates in her gloves which would be useless. She took off the gloves, tying the strings around her waist.
"If you feel bad for bothering, then make up for it by helping me with this test. The best chance we have to make it through this is by helping each other" Cora turned her head to face Enju, a slight but warm smile on her face. She heard Enju say something bout the course, but none of it mattered to her at the moment. She turned around and got on a knee, while holding out her hands to give Enju a boost up "Save it til we pass the course"
Enju
Enju nodded her head when Cora told her she should get used to blood lust... if that was possible she would try but at this point she wasn't too sure. "Sorry." Her voice was hushed and barley audible. She really felt like she would hold Cora back, but perhaps the fact that she could also see the entire course before even entering it would make up for that. She noticed Cora kneel down with her hands out and she realized what she was trying to do. Enju blinked forward and let Cora help launch her straight to the top. She landed gracefully at the edge before looking down at Cora. Despite being a kid she realized telling Cora any information about the course before they at least cleared the fire was a bad idea, after all she wasn't partnered with anyone else... and she didn't consider anyone left behind a friend... so she didn't want to leak any information.
She watched as Cora started to make her move before deciding that standing at the edge of the ladder was a bad idea. After all if Cora decided to jump from the ladder to the platform she might be in the way. She blinked to the falling pads and started to jump between four different pads. It wasn't hard to tell which one was going to fall, each one would gain a stronger life force just before they fell or came back up... if that was the right way to describe it. She didn't have to wait long before Cora came up, "After these plates there is a tight rope with swinging weapons and a wall with small hand holds." She started to blink across the plat forms. Every time she stopped she would look behind her to make sure Cora was doing alright.
Cora
Cora watched as Enju flew up into the air to make sure that the young girl had made it. She waited until the next current of electricity passed by, following up by jumping up and quickly climbing up the ladder. She didn't have the same strength or pain immunity as her brother, but she had practice with various obstacles in the past. She climbed up the ladder with ease, now on the top to see a tower of flames in front of her.
Without hesitating, she jumped over the flames with the top slightly burning her and her clothes. She bit her lip to take her mind off the pain and hid it, while landing a short distance away from Enju. She walked up to her. She was confused by what she said. Since the beginning, it was as if this girl already knew this obstacle. She nodded at what Enju had said and ran towards the platforms. However, before reaching them she jumped on the side railings and balanced herself, before walking forward and making it to the other side. She turned to see how Enju would do against this obstacle.
Enju
Enju was a little surprised to see Cora running passed her but that wasn't really much of a problem. She was just happy Cora wasn't having any trouble with the course... because... well Cora was a nice person... well she wasn't one hundred percent sure Cora was a nice person but she had a feeling she was... not that that made sense. But Cora wasn't mean and she did owe Cora a favor so she supposed that made Cora a nice person... maybe.
Enju didn't seem to have any worries as she hoped from plate to plate. It even seemed like the course was working with her, every time she jumped at a plate that was already down it would pop back up again. She finished a second or so after Cora, mainly because she was having fun jumping around on the plates. Unlike some who might be deadly serious on this course she had a small smile on her face and seemed to be enjoying herself. "Ok, so be careful. All the weapons on the rope aren't in sync and I think there are traps set but I'm not sure how they work... they might not be but... sorry I'm not sure." At first she was excited but once she started to become unsure of what she was trying to say she started to speak slower and quieter. "Sorry." She hung her head wishing she could have told Cora more than the obvious. If she knew what the traps did she would have been much happier but she could only tell various weapons were sitting in holes in the walls. Did they just jut out if you got near? What triggered them? Would they shoot out at random? Why weren't any shooting out now? She bit her lip a little, "Most of them are knifes, I think they'll shoot out but I don't know when they will..." She looked up at Cora a little ashamed of herself.
"Oh! I'll go first. That way you'll know where the traps are and be able to avoid them!" She could repay her like this! With a nod she blinked forward and started to make her way toward the other end of the rope. She didn't look around at all, like most would while trying to run and dodge. She could see each weapon hurling towards her without her eyes so it wasn't hard to dodge anything that came her way. She even got to show off a little and duck a knife coming from behind her without looking. She hoped Cora was impressed... she wanted to impress her friend... or ally? Partner?... hmm...
Cora
Cora listened to Enju speak, taking everything she said into account. What she had said first was obvious to see, you could tell they weren't in sync. But what surprised her the most was the fact that she knew there were traps hiding. Perhaps Enju's true skills didn't lie in her physical abilities. Before she could say something, Enju volunteered herself to go. Cora nodded "Good luck" She watched in surprise as the young girl swiftly maneuvered around the weapons and even dodging the hidden traps.
No, it's not time for me to get serious
Cora walked on the line but instead of running forward, she dropped drown and grabbed onto the rope with her hands. Climbing across the rope like monkey bars, Cora managed to evade both the weapons and the traps. She pulled herself up to spring upwards and land on the platform, letting out a sigh of relief.. She looked up to see the tall wall and turned to Enju "Any more advice?"
Enju
"Advise..." She mumbled to herself as she let every nook and crany of the wall sink into her. After a little though and biting of her lip she nodded her head. "There are small parts that won't set off traps... I think." She tapped part of the living wall and it sprung a couple traps, which she managed to evade, then touched the dead wall and nothing happened, "I think its the dead wall that's safe." She thought for a moment, "Um... The spots are there, there, there, there... Err... The more I point up the harder it is for you to figure out where I'm pointing huh?" Once again her confidence faded as did her voice.
"Um..." She looked around for a stick or the like that would help her point out the spots but there wasn't anything long enough. She lowered her head feeling a little ashamed of herself for taking so long to come up with something. How much time did they have left?! Now she was starting to panic, breaking under pressure. "I, we..." She looked around once again still panicking. If she didn't pass she would lose Koa. "Umm... Umm..." Taking a deep breath she turns to Cora, "Can you carry me up the wall on your back? I'll point out the spots on the wall..." She mumbles feeling a little embarrassed about her solution but it seemed like a good idea...
Cora
Cora listened to Enju further explain the hidden traps of the tall wall. She went on to even point at the spots where the traps were at. However, at there height it just seemed like Enju was pointing at the wall in general. They would need a somewhat bird's eyes view or a similar perspective at the least. That's when Enju suggested for her to give Enju a piggyback ride. She raised an eyebrow. As silly as it sounded, it actually made sense. That way, Cora wouldn't have to worry about Enju s much. She smiled and nodded "That's a good idea" She knelt over so Enju could latch onto her back. Once on, she stood up "Okay point out the first dead spot" Cora placed her foot in a spear which shot out and kicked it up to her hands.
Cora ran forward, throwing the spear into the wall where Enju said it was safe. She kicked up another spear and grabbed it tightly "Hold on" She kicked off the ground and up onto the first spear, waiting for the Enju to point out the second spot. She immediately jumped towards it, stabbing the spear into the wall and grabbing it with both hands "Whatever you do, don't let go" Cora began to sway forward and backwards, moving her body with the motion to increase the momentum. It wasn't before long before the two actual made a full spin around the spear, but their speed continued to increase. The spear began to loosen, Cora gritting her teeth
Its not enough...but it'll have to do Cora let got at the right moment, throwing herself and Enju high up into the air and at the very top of the wall. Cora grabbed on with her hand, barely hanging on as her grip loosened "Quickly get up Enju!"
Enju
Enju watched as Cora turned around lowered herself so she could climb onto her back. After a second of hesitation she walked forward and climbed up, wrapping her arms around Cora's upper body and hugging her sides with her legs. "Ok. I'm on." She mumbled as she placed her head on Cora's shoulder trying to get a better look at the wall. She had already been looking for the first dead spot on the wall when Cora asked her to point it out. "R-right. The first one is there." She said pointing directly in front of her. Then she noticed Cora picking up a spear and realized what she was planning on doing... sort of. "There's another one a little higher up." She said pointing to the fourth dead spot on the wall.
There wasn't a split second between the last word leaving her mouth and Cora charging forward with the spear in hand. She almost fell off, not expecting such a sudden movement, but managed to bring her free hand down to hold onto Cora before closing her eyes. They were going so fast... and the landing was really rough... at least it felt that way to her...
When Cora asked where the next spot was she didn't even have to open her eyes, she simply pointed up the wall a little ways "Right there." She mumbled before feeling Cora jump once more. She whimpered a little feeling Cora rocking back and forth. She didn't need to be told twice, her arms wrapped tighter around Cora as she waited for the inevitable. Before long they were spinning around on the spear at an increasing speed which left Enju feeling rather dizzy before Cora finally let go of the poll and sent them flying upwards. Enju couldn't help but let out a small squeal before they finally stopped on the side of the wall.
When Cora first told her to climb up she couldn't, her arms wouldn't listen to her. She bit her lip and continued trying until finally her shaky hand reached up and grabbed onto the wall. With a grunt she pulled herself up and flipped over onto her back. Everything was spinning, she felt so dizzy... but she wasn't done yet. Sitting up and reached over to offer a hand to Cora. Honestly Enju wasn't all that strong, but she could at least support Cora's weight... hopefully.
Cora
Cora let out a sigh of relief as Enju climbed over her and up onto the platform. But that was the least of her worries. Spinning around that pole had left burn marks on her hand, the pain growing as her grip loosened. But then, Enju grabbed hold of her and attempted to pull her up. It wasn't much, but the sensation of someone grabbing her made her snap out of her daze. She gritted her teeth and pulled herself up to the top, turning to Enju with a soft smile "Thank you, I had almost lost hope"
