Syrenei waited a few seconds after he started and then began with a strong jump, passing over a few platforms. As she landed on one platform, she could feel the slight vibrations in it and assuming it was going to fall soon, she jumped to the left of it and on another. She didn't have much time to think before the metal plate was removed from under her feet. Once again, she flipped to the one in front of her and then moved to the right. A few plates from the end, she was jumping to the second one in front of her just as the previous one fell. However, 3 plates in front of her fell, including the one she planned to land on and the next one. On top of that, she didn't push hard enough to go the extra length, even if she tried to do something. Then the thought came across her mind; I'm certainly in a little pinch... and it would have been better without it, but whatever.

With a tug, the katana on her hip came loose. She held the hilt of it tightly as she reached out with it, hitting the next platform with the end of it. The sheathed sword created enough friction against the metal for her to pull herself forward, landing on the metal plate and immediately flipped to the right as the plates kept falling. Once she landed again, she leaped forward, finishing that part of the course. Again, she sighed. Menzai had finished gracefully yet she had to use her katana. Syrenei looked onwards at the tight rope and swinging weapons. The weapons had a interval of 1 second in between each, which she could tell under close inspection.

Just as he had thought, she didn't seem to need his help and was impressed with how she skillfully moved along the platforms. Seeing her jump off platforms just before they dropped, but it was one point where her small stature made it difficult to made the gap that left her trapped and was ready to go help if she was unable to continue. What she did next further proved how she made it here as her ingenious way of using the sword to give her that extra boost to cross the gap, landing besides him.

No words were needed as he simply gave her a nod then walked to the tight-rope where an assortment of weapons swinging without any sign of stopping. Even more were the walls with holes along the way that probably fired projectiles; the entire thing looking like a death trap out of a comic book and gave an exasperated sigh.'Feels like a kid designed this part....hm, do you wish to go first this time, miss Syrenei?'Thinking to let her take the lead with this, that and he wanted a chance to see more of her skills.

Syrenei simply nodded at Menzai and stepped as far back as possible, giving herself room for a running start. She then waited for the first blade to swing past before running and jumping right beside the rope. Passing the first few blades, she twisted her body inwards and grabbed the rope right between two blades. Hopefully there were no rules about this. Though, if you thought about it, she wasn't falling off nor breaking any other rules. She swung her body sideways, each time passing more deadly weapons. Within a few swings, she was at the end plate and looking towards the giant wall. Wanting to see how he'd handle it, Syrenei turned to watch him.

Moving back to keep out of her way and remained silent, curious to see how she would handle all those weapons and the small pathway of the rope. His eyes following her movements and would smile a bit after seeing how she grabbed onto the rope of the swinging blades; certainly an interesting way of bypassing the weapons till she finally reached the other side. Now it was his turn, though felt he shouldn't play around since their time was almost out, so time to get serious as he pulled down on the hat, securing it to his head once more before closing his eyes, envisioning the swinging blades, bats and other weapons and the sound of rushing wind with each swing.

Lowering his body so that he was crouched halfway from the ground, listening intently for the motions of the weapons to synchronize. Opening his eyes just as those closest to him were mid-way through swinging and with a strong push of his legs, sprung forward. His body kept low as he dashed along the rope, running by the bludgeons that had just finished swinging and pulled back, but before they do so again, had bypassed them. Arms swaying back causing his sleeves to whip about against his hands as he kept running; blades missing again as Menzai quickly lowered his head an inch to avoid the blade that just barely scraped the tip of his hat. Finally reaching the end and would skid to a stop then stood up to see small cuts in the hem of his sleeves.'Seems I was off by a few milliseconds. I still lack training.'Speaking mostly to himself before letting out a soft sigh; now only the wall before them last.

Syrenei was quite impressed at his performance. She considered herself quick, but his speed was on a different level. Hearing him mumble about needing more training made her wonder how much better he would be. But enough of that, time was running out. She turned to the wall and quickly inspected it. Such a tall wall would be difficult to run up directly, but of she utilized the sides, she'd probably make it. That is, unless her legs give out part way.

With another running start, she ran towards and up the wall. Within the first few steps, spikes came flying out at her after she stepped on something she couldn't see. She was already mid-step and couldn't propel herself up to dodge it, so instead, she back flipped over them. They just barely passed under her, but she had lost some time doing that. Thankfully, she didn't flip too far back from the wall. Syrenei put out her leg and touched the wall with her foot and pusshed upwards. But just as she thought there wouldn't be another trap, there was. This time, multiple blades popped out from the wall, which would have been difficult if she was already mid-step, but she wasn't. Just before the bottom layer came out, she had pushed up lightly and ended up on top of them. She then pushed off the bottom set for a bigger boost just as the second, third, and fourth layer came out, which she dodged easily. With that push, she was now about half way. Feeling the need to increase her speed, she extended her left leg and pushed off the left wall, then repeated with the right. This increased her speed slightly, but she ended up setting another trap that sent knives at her. Unable to dodge these, Syrenei quickly moved her sheathed katana horizontally over her belly, about where the knives were shooting at. Thanks to her own precision and quick reaction, the knives directly hit the katana and fell. She then continued, setting off a few more traps along the way, which she handled fairly easily with her katana or her own abilities. About three fouth of the way there, her legs began to tire, but rest would impossible.

With only the wall before them left, it was simple as climbing and seeing that it was made of wood; an idea came to mind, something he wouldn't be able to do if the wall had been made of rock or metal. A stroke of luck as he glanced down at his clawed fingers for a second and nodded before looking to Syrenei to suggest his plan, but she had already charged towards the wall.'Wa-.'Too late with her already making her way up the wall where she would set off traps of spears, knives and hidden blades; hidden switches most likely as he rolled up his sleeves then flexed his fingers knowing this would hurt his hands in the end, though that didn't matter.

Running to the wall and tried digging his claws into the wood to test it first and could see them piercing it showing it would work as he would only dig his fingers as deep as he needed. With that, he started raising his hands, making his own handholds and climbed his way up the wall, mindful to avoid the switches that Syrenei, now halfway up the wall had triggered. Gritting his teeth to ignore the pain of the small splinters biting into his fingers as he kept lifting his way up; when hearing the click would pull his left hand out from the wall to let his body swing out of the way of a spear that would of impaled him in the head, its blade scratching his cheek.

Shaking his head as he pulled himself up, sweat dripping down his face now as he looked up to see her progress. Noticing she was most of the way up, but starting to slow down.*Not good. If she loses momentum now without any footing or holdings.*He thought to himself before planting his feet against the wall and pulled his body down to act like a spring and shot his body up several feet before plunging his hand back into the wall to keep from falling. Again he jumped, a knife grazing his foot just as he jumped, but paid it no mind as he had jumped a bit higher than she was and quickly dug his right hand into the wall. After securing his hand in the wall would quickly reach down with his left hand to grab hold of Syrenei's arm.'hn, I got you no-'Clenching his teeth as a spear had shot out, cutting the arm imbedded in the wall deep, thankfully his claws being in the wall prevented them from falling.'Now..grab on..we're almost there.'Being so small, she was hardly heavy and would lift her up to wrap her arm around his shoulder, waiting till she had a firm hold before resuming the climb; fighting the stinging pain and the bleeding as the end was only a few feet away.

Just as Syrenei felt as if she were going to fall, Menzai had grabbed hold of her arm and wrapped it around his shoulder. She was thankful that he had done so, or else she might have failed at a second attempt. Just as she was about to thank him, the blood from his feet and arm caught her attention. "I'll support if needed, so just keep climbing," she notified him before bringing out her sheathed katana. If he felt like he needed an extra push, she would just push against one of the walls with her sword and repeat something similar with the previous part of the course. "Umm... and thanks," she said hesitantly. Hopefully she wasn't too heavy.

Specialist, green

Koa grins as she finally takes his hand, seeing that they were falling behind he starts walking forward at a brisk, but even pace so Enju wouldnt have to run to keep up. Looking down at her he tilts his head slightly as she apologizes, his hand was warm against hers. "Why are you apologizing? Your not a burden or anything! I'm actually glad to see someone else my age here, makes its less lonely." His tone is honest and warm. Looking forward as they enter the darkness he keeps a tight, but gentle grip on Enju's hand so she wouldnt get seperated from him. The dark didnt effect him at all, it wasnt any different to him then walking in the sun. He swerved around a few people that were stumbling, leading Enju along so they wouldnt bump into anyone, their small size helping with that.

Hearing her give him her name he smiles, giving her hand a small squeeze. "Nice to meet you Enju! Lets have fun, I'll stay with you as long as I can, and of course as long as you want me, kay?" Koa hoped he was giving the blonde some courage for the test ahead, his words were honest and true. He felt a strong protectiveness over Enju, almost like a little sister, but maybe it was more? As the blue braziers illuminated the Gauntlet-Hades Gauntlet by Roy's description, Koa stopped, causing Enju to bump into his back. Looking back at her he gives her another smile, his crimson eyes bright and warm. "Told you it wasnt scary. This course doesnt look too tough, I'm sure we can do it! But if you feel you cant, I wont blame you for quitting." Koa didnt notice that he was still holding Enju's hand

Menzai could barely feel his right arm with it growing numb from the bleeding and his fingers sore from digging them into the wooden wall.'Alright. Just a little further.'Nodding in reply to what she said as his breathing slowly became ragged and the loss of blood making him lightheaded. He shook his head to fight off the dizziness and kept climbing until he heard another click.'Lower your head!'Shouting in warning before dropping his head down moments before a blade shot out where their heads had just been; the movement nearly making Menzai's hands slip out. Taking a few deep breaths to catch his breath then with the last bit of strength, climbed the last stretch of the wall before pulling the both of them up, finally making the top. He crawled away from the edge, too out of breath to stand up at the moment as he ripped one of his sleeves to bandage the gash on his arm, needing to stop the bleeding quickly before even thinking of celebrating the fact they made it through the obstacle course.

Syrenei had begun to worry after hearing his ragged breaths, but she didn't want to move because then that may hinder him even more than she already was. At the exact time Menzai shouted his warning, she did as she was told and just barely dodged the blades. When they reached the top, she immediately got off him and watched himself fix himself up. She wasn't very good at treating others and their wounds, which made her useless in such a situation. Feeling as if she should thank him even more, she subconsciously lifted her hand and laid it lightly on top of his head as if she were petting him. She didn't know what she could so right now besides thank him with this simple gesture.

Patching up his arm the best he could with the cloth secured tightly around his arm, wishing he had brought some first-aid, but it would have to do for now. Now that the bleeding stopped, he could see the cuts and splinters as two of his claws were cracked, but overall his hands were find and luckily the cut on his foot was only a mere scratch and moved to sit up on his knees since he was light-headed and dizzy to get up still. Relishing in the moment of making it past the first exam; the gentle touch of her hand resting on his head, the hat still covering his ears, though a big cut at the top of it from that last blade showed a little of the white ears. Unsure of how go act for it was strange and to his people demeaning to be petted, but decided after what they went through would let it slide this one time.'Good job.'Giving a small nod as he remained seated, wanting simply to rest and regain his strengths for the exams was far from over.

Syrenei didn't bother to see beneath his hat. She knew he was hiding something under his had, since it didn't go with his outfit at all, but he must have his own reason as to why he wanted to keep it hidden, and she respected that. Prying wasn't exactly her thing anyhow. She took her hand off his head and unsure of what to do, took a seat beside him. She looked at the piece of clothing that covered her arm and noticed it had gotten a small slit it in, most likely from the rope part of the course. Other than that, some of her ribbons were noticeably shorter, not that it mattered to her.

As if trying to start a conversation, she said, "You're quite skilled. You didn't even use anything to assist you throughout the entire course. I'm impressed."

Menzai took the chance to get the splinters out of his fingers and clean his claws the best he could, though they would be sore for a while. With the obstacle course behind them, it made him wonder what kind of exams awaited them, but his thoughts cut short by Syrenei's words; flexing his fingers to ease the ache in them a little before placing them on his his knees.' My people try to avoid the use of weapons or violence, so we train and hone our bodies and senses to the point that we rely solely on them and our claws.'Peering down at his cut up fingers.' but I'm more impressed with the way you used your sword or even the swinging weapons to get across the tight-rope. You may be smaller than most here, but they lack your ingenuity.'If the other exams required teams, then he would want her with him after seeing how well the two of them worked together.

Syrenei nodded along as he spoke of his people, especially keeping the word 'claws' in the back of her head. He wasn't human, or at least, not completely human, but this was only her prediction. But those were only minor details, nothing that should matter. When she heard him speak about her, she was a bit surprised at his words. Being praised wasn't a common thing for her, so she wasn't quite sure what to say in response. "O-oh... uh... thanks. Though I'm sure anybody could have thought or done what I did. I was only using my freerunning skills to pass the majority of the course, but my small stature causes some problems, like the part where the floor disappeared. I was almost in trouble there," she let out a nervous laugh before looking at her katana for nothing in parricular.

Roy Mifusu x First Examiner, blue

Roy watched the 2 go through the course relatively smoothly, glancing down at his watch every now and then. Once they made it up the wall he called out in a clear voice. "Your time is 2:06, you pass! You may proceed down the steps to the waiting area behind that door." He points to a pair of metal doors off to the side at the bottom of the Gauntlet. There was wood stairs that led down the wall in a swirl pattern.

Once Syrenei and Menzai were off the Gauntlet, Roy proceeded with a couple more pairs, most failed, 2 had critical injuries. "Next up, Luka Kurta and Neil!" 'A Kurta huh?'

Cora, pink
Cora smirked at what Luka had said to her, finding the idea to be rather interesting "Maybe I should suckerpunch them. That way, they'd stop bothering me" She said to her brother as they walked into the darkness. She walked into it unphased by it, the darkness was only there to let the weaks' imagination go wild. But she had nothing to fear in her eyes, she would take anything down that came across her way. Midthought, multiple torches lit up and illuminated the area. She looked at the ladders leading up to the obstacle and listened to the examiner, her arms crossed "Hades Gauntlet huh, not that bad of a name" She turned to her brother "So what do you think of the competition" Throughout the entire time, she was observing and rating everyone else who was there. She wanted to see his point of view.

But before he could answer, his name was called up. She raised an eyebrow, turning to her brother "Good luck"

Neil, yellow
When Roy called out his name and a Luka, he could have sworn he heard people cheering that they weren't paired with him, which made him gaze at the other contenders and see their smiling faces. Shrugging, he looked at Luka and grinned giving him a thumbs up. "Have no fear my friend! As an ally of justice I shall not let you fall. It would go against my code to watch another man fail after coming so far." Neil spoke which made other people groan as he examined the ladder. "Electricity will never stop my spirit of justice!!" He shouted as he grabbed the bar and began climbing it at a fair speed with his height he was able to climb two bars at a time, yet when eight seconds went off he didn't even try any fancy movements to dodge it. He took every volt which made him pause as his body shook with every volt. So when it ended, he laughed out loud which of course made everyone go silent as they watched him. "Like I said, electricity will never beat my justice!" Neil shouted who suddenly beat his left hand off his chest as he began to power through to the top through every volt that went his way, until he reached the top. He stood there twitching a bit as he held up his right arm grinning. While everyone else questioned whether if he was some form of monster or just too stupid to process pain. Neil then gazed at the next part which made him scratch his head. "Fire however... is a different story."

The way Syrenei spoke showed that she was lacking confidence in herself and shook his head before raising a finger.'Yes, your small stature lacks strength and how did you make up for it? The use of your sword to give yourself that extra boost. An unconventional way of using one's weapon that most would not think to do.'It was best to help boost her confidence; otherwise this self doubt could be her downfall further down the way and would not allow her to fail without doing her very best. Shortly afterwards, the examiner would tell them to head to the waiting room for those who passed which was just the two of them at first and it would be a while before any other teams, mostly those who barely made it through. Their bodies riddled with wounds that were far worse than his own, one even having lost an arm in the process; unlikely that one would even make it to the second exam alive.

Syrenei couldn't help but let out a small smile at Menzai's words. She had worked hard at perfecting her skills in order to become a Hunter, so hearing him praise her on that made her happy. When she entered the waiting room, she stayed near him, wanting to chat with him abit more. As more people began coming in covered in injuries, she could already make a definite prediction about who were the ones that would fail. She took another moment to look at everybody who had come in, especially the man who had lost an arm, before turning to Menzai. "You know, I know for sure you'll pass the Hunter Exam," she said with a slight smile. "My predictions are rarely wrong. However, I can't say the same for some of the people here."

Menzai peered over the few who made it through the obstacle course, though seemed like they would of been better off failing as he could see how stubborn or stupid with their refusing to stop. His wounds mere scratches compared to others, though would make sure not to make another mistake; this time only getting a gash, the next time possibly more costly if he weren't careful. He studied the others while listening to Syrenei speak of predicting his passing a sure thing, turning his gaze to her while adjusting the cloth wrapped around his arm.'You have good instinct, but from the things I've heard of travelling hunters and books I read of the exams. One thing I'm sure of is that when it comes to the hunter exams, nothing is a sure thing....those ones assume will pass end up failing and those unlikely succeeding. Be careful about what your predictions tell you...give someone hope and it'll only be worse if you turn out wrong.'Both his gaze and tone serious as he spoke before spotting one of the few small aid kits.'Best to take care of this while I can.'Giving a small nod before grabbing one of the kits, taking out a thread, needle and disinfectant to work on stitching up the gash on his arm then tightly bandaged it up.
