Introduction

The Golden Age of Piracy that once proudly dominated the seas that now, after twenty years, remains little more than a memory. The World Government, the sworn enemy of anarchy and freedom, had won. Not out of skill or through tactical means, but by the brutally blunt force of the mighty Dreadnoughts. Powered by the miracle of the new age that was the discovery of steam, these mobile floating fortresses were clad entirely in steel and armed with enough, technologically advanced, cannons and guns to sink a galleon in one single salvo. No pirate fleet, no matter how united, were able to mount a significant assault against a Dreadnought. The only saving grace was that the Dreadnoughts were few in number with far too large of a territory to maintain constant oversight, forcing pirates to spread out across the ocean. And so, they were spread out over major shipping routes, constantly on the look-out for any ship that dared raise the flag of the Jolly Roger.

But with the end of a new age, comes the beginning of a new. An age of science, reasoning, understanding, and of great social upheaval. An age of madness, ignorance, and strife. Gone was the Age of Piracy, and so began the Age of Hunters.

Sara Masuma, pirate-turned-entrepreneur, truly embodied the change in times. From slave, to gladiatrix, to pirate commando, and finally a railroad baroness, she had lived an extraordinary life. But what she found underneath her manor house could outshine all that she had accomplished to that point. The mysteries and horrors that await her and her carefully chosen crew would either be her greatest triumph, or her greatest failure.

Hunter's Lexicon
[To be discovered]

Major and New Locations
Masuma Manor - A uniquely Tilean-inspired Yula Feian-styled manor house, featuring grand stone pillars and beautiful mosaics with wooden walls and a carefully tended garden. It is located near the village of Yashima.

Yashima Village- A local small village, with an inn and a railroad station with not much else. A few of the residents work within Masuma manor as groundskeepers, maids, and other assorted servants

Yukiro City - Once a small port-town, this city has exploded in population due to a sharp rise immigrants seeking labor in building the continent's railways. Roughly 50% of the population are now a variety of foreigners, bringing their culture and ideas with them.

Rules & Requirements:
I'd like to make it clear that this idea is influenced by the anime One Piece game Bloodborne, but is not a One Piece Bloodborne roleplay. You don't have to know the show in depth to be apart of this group. Also, this is an Intermediate to Adept level roleplay. The post cycle is one post every 7 days (from my post of course)

  • Don't Godmod. It's as simple as that.
  • Be friendly in OOC, keep the drama in the IC.
  • Follow Iwaku rules!
  • RPs with a lack of communication die, so I'd appreciate it if we all got to know each other, besides it's more fun to RP with someone you can call a friend.
  • If you vanish for a week without warning I'll send a PM and give you three days to respond. If you don't then you're susceptible to getting booted out. If you mention it in advance though then that won't be a problem.
  • Don't be afraid to add to the story! But if it's something major, please PM me about it first. Adding to this, I’m all for “character arcs” so keep this in mind!

Name: Anemone Byzantium

Age: possibly in mid 30’s, hard to tell

Gender: F

Appearance: Refer to pic. Anemone keeps her face hidden at all times, and is very stern about no one touching it. She wears a dark, puff-sleeved shirt underneath the vest to cover her arms. No skin is visible, besides her eyes, which are a light hazelnut and framed by heavy black, winged eyeliner. Faint lines and wrinkles beneath the makeup are the only suggestion to her real age.

Position: Scout

Personality: It’s hard to get to know her due to a language barrier, and perhaps that has contributed to her straightforward and business-like behavior. The few words of Common she does use communicates her point effectively. She is known to be a reliable agent without a single client loss as a freelancer scout. Despite her abrasiveness, she is good at what she does and takes it very seriously.

Special Skill: She’s really good at scouting and tracking. She is a close-combat fighter who uses a long dagger (strapped to her back) and a pistol (strapped under her arm) as her common weapons. She also carries a quiver and bow for hunting purposes. (She does not own a spear).

History: Hailing from the desert island Arbirae, Anemone is of the Shalaytan people whom live by a very strict code and religion. She lived with her father who was a well-to-do and reliable merchant, and her life followed a step-by-step process. She grew up devout, went to school, helped with the family business with the idea she would take over one day. Then… Arbirae fell into war. As the hunt for pirates escalated to new heights, the citizens began rebelling against the World Government due to indiscriminate attacks on ships that weren’t pirates, but weren’t under WG stamp of approval either, so to speak. Families were lost and Arbirae came under military control when violent protests sparked. Anemone’s father picked up his daughter and left before the chaos fell on them-- but at the cost of leaving his business behind. They moved to Norja, one of the few countries untouched by the World Government’s politics due to the Guild control. The Merchant Guild helped her father restart his business, but exposed to a new place, sights and sounds, Anemone became attracted to the Scholars’ Guild. They trained her in the ways of the land and she ended up developing a reputation over the years as a reliable, freelancing scout.

Why did you choose to join Sara's crew?: One of Sara’s old contacts, Jack Kunal, suggested she should take on this mysterious Shalaytan. Anemone herself is fascinated by new findings, a trait picked up after training in the Scholars Guild, and gladly accepted the job.

Name: Addison Carabis
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Appearance:
9e0dfdbec7d20ecd336fb0f082773154.jpg

Eyes are a hazel color.
Usually in a long sleeve, black blouse with frilled ends, black pants, and boots. It’s much easier to hide and clean bloodstains in all black rather than all white.

Position: Resident Doctor, Resident Monster….ologist?

Personality: You’d expect a gentle touch from a doctor or a kind word, but instead you get snark and ‘advice’ to keep out of trouble. Raised as the daughter of William ‘Red Death’ Carabis, she was treated like a princess and now her nose is stuck in the air. Unlike her father's superiority complex, Addison is humble enough to know people are important enough to get information and valuables out of them. Raised amongst pirates, her passion for fixing what was broken didn't come with a ‘gentle streak’. Addison believes tough love makes everyone- well, tougher. That's not to say she wouldn't fix someone who needed it, it only means she'd show little to no compassion especially if it could have been avoided.

Special Skill: Like her father, Addison is an observer. She’s more interested in hanging back and spotting weak spots and opportunity. Addison avoids close combat brawls, but she does know how to handle her own in an emergency. She excels in long distance attacks, skilled with ranged weapons. Her favorite weapon of choice is a crossbow she has. Besides fighting, thanks to her livelihood, she knows an extensive deal about pirates. At least she knows about them before and after they were “lame” and became the targets of eradication.

History: For the longest time, there has always been a feud between William Carabis, the captain of the Red Pirates, and Runali Lev, the captain of the Stardusk pirates. What became a dangerous pirate feud, simmered into something more like a family competition that Runali always won. And one day- that turned into a few years- William Carabis stepped away from the ‘childish games’. But that was only because he had an heir to his throne, a daughter. A life he cherished more than his own.
Addison Carabis was raised around pirates, even as the pirate age dwindled into nothing, so not only has she been in the throws of pirate battles, she’s also met all of the Worst Gen a few times- including her...cousin, the Pirate Lord- or ex pirate lord for that matter. Surprisingly, being raised around pirates didn’t give her any desire to want to be a pirate- or more so, be like her dad, though it did create a quick urgency to learn a few doctor tricks in order to help them survive. With the impressionable training, she became the Red Pirates’ doctor at a young age (although they have a fairly decent doctor already). Being a pirate doctor is why her doctoring methods are.. A little less than gentle. With teachings from Rin Goodwin, the first mate of the Red Pirates, she learned a lot about the ways of not only pirates but the world itself as well.

And the world was a lot larger than she realized. There had always been rumors and myths about large beasts and scary monsters, but the day Runali dropped by to tell one of her many wild adventure stories was the day Addison truly believed they existed. It’s still very unclear what sparked the interest of the unknown in the kid, but upon deciding that it was high time she explored and took her own path, she had already began to dive headfirst into researching.
