Areiz thought about his response for a little while. "Hopefully, you're right." She said. She tried to think back to her training, thinking of a way to make it easier to help Areia, but she was lost. She didn't know. The smoke from the career's fire had died down and was signaling that their fire was now smoldering ashes. Areiz stood up away from the tree, listening carefully to be sure they weren't headed their way.

Lirin sat in silence, looking up at the brightening sky. Areia began stirring, pushing herself up into a sitting position as she yawned, brushing her eyes with the backs of her hands. "Morning," she said softly, seemingly surprised that she had lived through the night.

"Morning," Lirin answered, sighing right afterwards. They'd have to get moving soon, and Lirin wasn't sure that his aching muscles could handle another day like yesterday.

Areiz glanced over at Areia and smiled a little. "Hello." She said before returning her attention to the sounds and movements around them. She heard a distant river and pointed. "There's water that way." She said, looking around. "And water means possible food, possible shelter, and maybe we could make a raft and travel by river." She said. "And of course, water." she added. "Do you want to head that way?"

Lirin nodded, before getting to his feet. "Come on," he said to Areia, reaching down to pick up Areia. Immediately, his muscles began screaming, and he nearly had to put her down, but he forced himself to stay standing, wincing as pain lanced up his arms. "Okay," he said, "let's go." Already, he could feel his stomach rumbling with hunger, and Areia and Areaiz were probably the same. They would need food to stay alive, and soon, that was certain.

Areiz paused. "Lirin..are you okay?" She asked. He didn't look very good as soon as he picked her up. Another bird cawed overhead and she pulled out a knife. Cameras.. She sighed. "I'll take lead." She stepped forward, still watching Lirin with half of her attention, while the rest was on their surroundings.

"I'm...fine," he answered, though his voice and expression were strained. Clearly, he wasn't, but he turned his head so that Areiz wouldn't see the struggle on his face. When he turned back to face her, his expression was stoic, and the only thing to make a testament to his pain was a slight creasing between his eyebrows. As Areiz stepped forwards, Lirin waited a moment before following, wincing with nearly each step.

They'd only made it a few yards from the campsite when she heard the careers. "Shh. Don't run." She said almost silently. She pointed to a nearby large bush. "Hide." She said quietly, running to the nearest tree and jumping, barely catching the lowest branch. She lifted herself up with much difficulty and waited. They were coming closer..but they didn't seem to be looking for anyone, just passing by. She motioned to Lirin to stay still and silent behind the bush.

Lirin crouched behind the bush, making sure to keep his breathing silent and not to set Areia down, just in case they had to make a quick getaway. He wasn't sure if he could make a quick one, though, with Areia. She wasn't heavy, but she also wasn't too light, and it was difficult to hold her up properly.

Hearing the footsteps of the careers, he crouched lower, all of his muscles screaming for him to put Areia down. I wish I'd taken heavy-lifting training last week, he thought to himself. If he even lived for another few days, he would probably be stronger or would have collapsed already from exhaustion.

Areiz watched as the main careers walked by. There was one straggler who started towards the bush Lirin was behind. Areiz jumped from the tree, catching the girl in the back with the knife. Areiz winced and picked her up.
"Where!?! How?!" The girl was very confused. Ariez took the knife out and pushed her away. The girl stumbled off in the wrong direction.
"Are you okay Lirin? Areia?" She didn't know if the girl had reached the bush or not, she couldn't tell how close she'd gotten.

When Areiz found them, Lirin was lying next to Areia in a patch of tall grasses, completely invisible from the trees. As soon as he had heard that career in the back getting too close, he had moved to the clearing, alerting her in the process but staying hidden. When Areiz asked if they were okay, he sat up, raising a hand in her direction. "Over here," he said, before getting to his feet, helping Areia into his arms once more.

Areiz nodded. "Okay. Well, she's gone." She said, her voice dull. She dispised the whole thought of killing others. She started back the direction they where going. "Almost there." She said, the water now audiable.

"Look," Lirin said, after hearing how her voice had changed, "I'm sorry...you had to do that...You shouldn't've had to kill her...you also could've just let us die while you hid up in the trees, but you didn't. And that means you're a good person. So...thank you." He smiled in her direction as he followed, the sound of water putting him in a better mood.

Areiz wasn't sure how to respond. "Uhh.. You're welcome?" She managed to say, but it came out as more of a question. Up ahead the water was barely visible through the underbrush. "See.. Cool, refreshing water." She said, her tone a little happier now.

Once by the side of the river, Lirin set Areia down by it before cupping his hands and catching a bit, bringing up the cool liquid to his lips and drinking. "Mmm," he murmured, before helping Areia get into a position where she could do the same.

Areiz smiled at the crystal clear water. She knelt beside it, taking a small sip before looking up to face the opposite shore. Nothing. She thought she'd seen something, but no. She stood up and turned to the low-branched trees and started to make a shelter. It was late afternoon already. She forced the branches together by interlocking them to make a perfect covering. "There." She mumbled, smiling. She set her pack barely beneath it before returning to the water.

Seeing where Areiz set her pack down at, Lirin got up and put his things there as well. Back at the creek, he put his hands under the water, sighing at the coolness as his muscles relaxed. Rubbing his aching muscles, he said to Areiz, "D'you know how to find food by rivers? I've never really been near water..." Glancing around the bank, he checked for berry bushes or anything that might be edible.

Areiz nodded and pulled two whistles from her pocket. She'd swiped them off the girl from earlier. "Here. Take one. I'll go find us all some food and if anything goes wrong, blow the whistle once as hard as you can. I'll do the same." She said, smiling a bit.

"Okay," Lirin replied, looking up and wondering just how many cameras were watching them. Flinching as a bird flew away from a tree it had been perching in, he stood up, wiping the dirt from his pants and looking around through the river, wondering if there weren't any fish there. Figuring it was too small for any fish big enough to eat were in there, he sighed before moving to some of the bushes, hoping to find blueberries or strawberries that they could eat.

Areiz wandered off downstream. She'd seen a fee bushes that looked familiar, but they turned out to be already picked. She reached one bush of pretty, ripe blueberries. She started picking them, putting them gently in the pockets of her jacket. When she'd gotten a fairly large amount, she turned. A canon went off. 10 tributes left.

Flinching when he heard the cannon go off, Lirin returned to Areia, finding her well. Ten more...That meant that he and Areia had beat fourteen tributes. And that also meant that there were still going to be at least seven who wanted nothing more than to kill him and Areia. Things were only going to get worse from here on out.
