How do I private message people?

I know this is a stupid question, but I can't figure out how to private message people. I just joined and this website is slightly difficult to navigate.

Location may differ by mobile/PC but in the upper right by your avi there should be an envelope and clicking on it should direct to conversations.
There's some other good info about conversations (and lots of other topics) in the FAQs that might be useful to know for the future too :)
