Jace awaited the arrival of Levi and Rogue Squadron anxiously. He hailed Levi with a hand raise, jogging over and meeting him halfway. "Couple nicks and bruises, think I got a bullet in me backside, but I'm too hyped on adrenaline and excitement to feel it quite yet." he responded humorously-though-not-dishonest. "Doors are sealed, ready to be opened at a moment's notice. They're likely crowded up behind the doors, waiting for us to barge in for a slaughter. Hangar's clear, key personnel are over there-" he said, pointing at the group of IMPF officers with their guards, "-scout drones are in the vents, and we've been waiting on you before we begin taking the rest of the ship."

Blood still dripped from the end of his blade, and the smell of it was thick in the air. Bodies still littered the deck of the hangar, but a few had taken to removing the uniforms and valuables from the corpses and piling them off the the side. "Shall we begin the assault?"

Levi looks around at his men. He sees some crates about 30 feet down the corridor. He looks at two of his men. "Parke, Ramirez. Go get those crates and bring them here. It's gonna be a serious firefight, and I want to come back from this mission alive. As soon as we blow that door, they're gonna start shooting, and we'll be like fish in a barrel. Get the crates, and we'll use them for cover."

As they run off, he readies his M4, slamming a fresh mag into the breech. Parke and Ramirez run back up with the crates, and he takes cover with the rest of them behind them. "BLOW THE FUCKERS OFF THEIR HINGES!!!"

The doors blow, and its nothing but smoke and gunfire. Levi continues firing, with Jace by his side. Suddenly, his gun clicks. "Shit! I'm out!" He straps his rifle to his back and pulls out his plasma sword, igniting the fluorescent purple blade. He flips over the barricade and rushes at the soldiers, deflecting bullets as he goes.

He leaps, and slices the blade across the chest of three enemies. He yells back to his men, "Move up! Go melee!" His men charge, plowing down the enemy soldiers in their path.

Jace took cover with levi, loading his pistol into the carbine converter. His measly handgun had effectively become a small semi-automatic rifle. He took a breath. Before was fun, now it was time to get serious. CQC was no laughing matter, even for the Battle Jester. One minor miscalculation got you or your ally killed- either by the enemy or by friendly fire. He steeled himself as the doors blew off their hinges, and turned his barrel down the hall. immediately, there was a roar of gunfire from both sides. A few grenades pushed the IMPF troops back a tad, even sending a few flying into the hangar and killing who knows how many. They had seemed intent on rushing out, but their slight moment of hesitation stole that from them. Their men fell in waves. Levi quickly ran out of ammo, and orders everyone else who had done the same to switch to melee tactics. Apparently, the IMPF troops had a similar idea. The battle quickly went from a hellish funneled gunfight to a hellish funneled swordfight.

Jace went through another mag or two, picking off whoever he could and whoever managed to break the line. Soon though, he had to abandon his tactic. Holstering the pistol and storing the converter, he quickly drew his cutthroatlass and used his boot jets to burst jump him over the horde and chaos, he charged in. Apparently he had inspired a few others to do the same, because he was joined sprinting down the halls by a handful of other rebels, obviously Dogs.

They dashed and spun through the halls, slaughtering unsuspecting soldiers and de-limbing the few officers they encountered. No longer did Jace know what his body was doing- he simply let it go. Two of the chargers split off at every intersection to seal doors and stop reinforcements from joining the fray behind them. It seemed to work, as by the time the Forwarders (as Jace called them in his mind) had reached the door to the command bridge, he could hear the approach of the remaining band of rebel troops.

Fighting beside Jace, Levi reaches the blast doors to the bridge. Seeing the Dogs running up behind him, he yells, "Blow it down!" And the shoulder fired rockets carried by the dogs streak away.

The door is blown inward, and they hear screams. "Charge! Keep the top 10 ranking officers alive!' He swings his plasma blade, it sinking into the impfer in front of him.

Jace rushed in, running his blade through the closest man. Others died around him, as fast as he could process. The fight only lasted a few seconds, as there was very little resistance left. In an act of desperation to win the favor of his captors, the captain ordered all his men to lay down their arms and surrender. The dead were dragged away, and the other officers taken and placed into the command bridge.

The ship was theirs.

The captain throws down his weapons and orders the rest of his men to do the same. "Hold fire, boys." Levi turns to the captain. "We need to have a chat."

"You are with the IMPF, so you possibly know their plans. I will ask you once before I kill one of your men. Where is the Icarus Relay?"

"I don't know what an Icarus Relay is!!! I swear!!!"

"Suit yourself." Levi points to a random IMPF crewman behind him. "If you would be so kind, BattleJester."

@Thomas McTavish

Jace nodded at the order, and pulled the designated officer forward by his collar, then swiftly kicked the back of his leg to bring him to his knees. By that point, his helmet had been off for a minute or two. It was easy to see the psychosis in his smile and the murder in his eyes as sweat gleamed on his brow. He removed the gun from his holster, and put it against the officer's head. He cocked the hammer.

Click.

Jace chuckled and the officer sighed. The gun had been empty since the hangar fight. He squatted down behind the officer, his features softening. "It's okay, I'm not going to shoot you." he said, reassuringly. The officer's sigh of relief was cut short as the point of Jace's cutthroatlass emerged through the man's ribcage. He sharply yanked the blade free, and wiped the blood off on the dead man's uniform.

"He looked important. Such a pity." he quipped sarcastically.

@Kirito

"You see? I have no qualms about killing all of your men till you tell me what I want to know. My fiance was killed by the Gronus on a mission for the IMPF. I used to be a ranking commander in the IMPF until my wife was killed. I have more than enough anger against you to kill you all." A shadow crosses his face as he growls, "Where. Is. The. Icarus. System?"

"I don't know what that is!! I swear!!"

"Suit yourself. BattleJester."

Jace dragged forward the next man. "Fate seems to have damned you, it would see you slain." he said in a sinister monotone voice, as though part of a cult. A light diagonal cut across the back stained the officer's uniform maroon as he cried in pain. "The die has been cast, your loss is our gain." A second perpendicular slice completed an "X" shape on the man's back. Jace grabbed the man's throat from behind and slowly pierced his body through the center of the X. "Another fallen pawn in life's great game." He slid the blade free, and again he wiped off the blood onto the executed officer's own uniform. "Saw an actual cult do that, once. Except about ten other guys stood in a circle around it, the victim was chained, and they were all wearing robes. Except they didn't get to the 'stabbing' part. Just the 'X'. Buncha Scrapyard Dogs stopped 'em mid ceremony." He stopped and turned to the IMPF captain. "This is getting fun, so please, do continue acting like a fucking idiot." he requested with a dark grin.

@Kirito

"Like I said, I can keep going all day. Where is the Icarus System?"

"I don't know what that is!!"

"Ok. BattleJester." Levi turns around.

Just as Jace drags the next man forward, the captain yells "STOP! I'll tell you what you want to know!"

"The man lives!" Levi whips back around and gets in the man's face. "Now. Where is it?"

"The Knossos System. Eden Prime. Please. Don't kill my son."

"I am a man of my word. I said if you told me, the bloodshed would stop." Levi turns to one of his men. "Commander Swecker. Take six of your men and escort these prisoners back to the Star Racer. I'll be along shortly." He turns to Jace as they leave. "What do you think? Think it really is on Eden Prime, or is just the ramblings of a man trying to save his son?"

Jace yanked the man forward and onto his knees. He looked young, and was actively sobbing. Jace raised his cutthroatlass for a decapitation-

"STOP! I'll tell you what you want to know!"
"The man lives! Now. Where is it."
"The Knossos System. Eden Prime. Please. Don't kill my son."

Son, eh? A good reason to talk. Shoulda picked him first, would've gone a lot quicker. The blood-stained jokester pondered the question a moment. "Well," he reasoned, "his kid dies if he's lying, so I'd say there's a solid percentage he's telling the truth." He turned to a random rebel fighter. "Hey, when we get back on ship, mind showing me where the medic is? The bullet hole in my ass cheek is starting to itch. And by itch, I mean burn furiously." Back to Levi. "Pretty sure he's not lying. But I have no qualms with gutting his little boy in front of him if he is."

@Kirito

"I was thinking the same thing." To the rest of his men..."Lieutenant Ramirez! You and your squad stay here. Help the engineers and techs get this back to base."

"We'll see if its at Eden Prime."

Two Hours Later....

"Sir, incoming transmission from the Dreadnaught we just captured. Patching it through."

"Sir. Master Engineer Parke. You are not going to believe this. The Dreadnaught we captured? It's slave rigged."

"And that means....?"

"Sir, the only slave-rigged Dreadnaughts were part of the Dark Force. The Katana fleet."

Jace overheard the transmission, and immediately spat out his drink in shock. "Oh, shit, the Katana fleet?" he asked in disbelief, a terrified and confused expression on his face. He took another sip, and swallowed it this time. "I have no idea what that means, or why it is of any importance, but it seemed worthy of a dramatic reaction. Seriously though, what does any of what Mega-enjee Parkarooni said mean? Are those the boys you used to run with, Levi?" he inquired.

@Kirito

"The Katana fleet was the most powerful fleet in the IMPF Navy. They were 200 slave-rigged Dreadnaught class Heavy-Cruisers. One day, they jumped to light speed, and vanished."

Levi pales. "If the imps have found the Dark Force, we are REALLY in the shits."

"Ooh! Mystical subplots about vanishing legendary armadas in a story about rebellion against oppression, stemmed from betrayal. This is starting to sound like one of those point-five credit holonovels you get at the refueling station. Now we just need a sappy-ass romance intertwined in it all and we're set to make hundreds!" he raved sarcastically, laughing nervously and slamming the rest of his drink.

"Tell me, say they found the Katana fleet. What kind of firepower does that give them, exactly?" he asked. If they were going to be in the shits, Jace wanted to know just how deep.

Levi pulls up a Holo-schematic of a Dreadnaught.

Dreadnaught.jpg

"One Dreadnaught has 8 TurboLaser battery blisters, reinforced shields, and Quad-TurboLaser turrets positioned systematically along the hull. One isn't so bad. I mean, we took it down no problem. But there were 200 of these ships in the Katana Fleet. If the IMPF found the fleet, things just go a whole lot more difficult.

"Each Dreadnaught has the capability of holding six squadrons of TIE star-fighters, but can easily be modified to hold 8 Squadrons of TIE Interceptors.

"I don't want to think about what 200 of these behemoths could do for our enemy."

((Interesting how this is all becoming a sort of pseudo-Star Wars RP. XD))

Jace burst into a fit of uncontrollable laughter as the realization set in. He fell out of his seat, and started banging his fist on the ground, unable to stop. When the fit finally subsided, he wiped a tear from under his eye. "Oh, yeah, if they found that fleet we're fucked. Here's to hoping they just managed to find a way to slave-rig a Dreadnaught in their spare time, and we were just lucky enough to have captured the only one they made so far." he toasted, pulling a bottle of what seemed to be some kind of whiskey from his jacket and taking a swig.

(When I think of the IMPF starfighters, all I see in my minds eye are TIE's. oops.)

"The only ships that were ever slave-rigged were the Katana Fleet. And even if they managed to slave-rig a random Dreadnaught, you need at least two to do the link, and two is a pain in the ass.

"Believe me. They found the Fleet. And we are in for a total shit-storm."

@Thomas McTavish

Jace took another swig. "Well, in that case," He stood there a moment, seeming to contemplate the situation as he stared at the label of the bottle of Terran Whiskey in his hand. He stared at it- or rather, through it- and through everything else, into the void. He slowly lowered the bottle and looked over at Levi, staring him directly in the face, eyes fiercely locked. He spoke the next words with the confident smirk of a general that never lost.

"We're fucked."

Three Days Later
-------------------------------

Jace had taken it upon himself to sort of "commandeer" one of the training rooms, fighting again and again against Assault Training Amorphous Combat Units, or ATACUs. Jace called them "Slimebots", because there were basically large blobs of a green, slime-like flesh analog with an electronic "spine" and "brain," with a very basic AI keeping them running. They were mostly used to help train with the CQC situations on-board a ship, and were usually configured to take on a humanoid appearance, though other life forms were not out of the question. They were set to act as though a real human would in a fight, specifically a human in the IMPF. wave after wave attacked Jace, only stopping once he was dead, or the simulation ran out of "lives", or number of times it could send ATACUs out to fight. If Jace was going to help take down a fleet of Dreadnaughts, he wanted to be prepared.

"Yeah. We are in the shits. Totally."

Three days later...
````````````````
Levi walks into the combat room where Jace was training, and just watches him. The man's fighting style had always impressed him. Sword in one hand, pistol in the other, he dominates the battlefield.
"You know, those ARE expensive. You don't need to hack them pieces so much." He chuckles.
