Inova Fairfax Hospital,
Washinton, DC
Nicole wasn't the first person to get there. Five men walked in about three minutes before she arrived. They each had rustic brown jumpsuits, the backs having "Washington Maintenance" written in bold embroidered letters on the back. Over their right breasts they had names stitched into the clothing. All of the names were short and simple, like "Bob" or "Doug" or "Rob". None of them longer than four letters, of course. They each carried either a large duffel bag or a big metal toolbox. The one in front, who was wearing a black baseball cap, held up his laminated guest pass, and the clerk behind the desk pressed the button to open the doors into the ward. One of the men, labeled "John" held a clip board as they walked. "Fifth floor." He said, looking up at his board as they approached the elevator.
She slipped right in through the front door. She didn't have to fumble with some sort of visitor's pass, or answer any sort of questions. All she had to say was that she was there to visit Congressman Clifford Chore, and that she was his secretary Vanessa. She held up a brown paper bag, claiming it was the medicine that his doctor, Clay Wilson, called the office and asked for. After a quick flip through of papers, Nicole was let through the door. When she got to the elevator, she saw it was going up down. Without any hesitation, she went right for the stairs. She made her way up quickly, floor by floor. When the congressman got shot earlier in the day, Nicole couldn't help but think of something The Night Watcher told her weeks ago. "There's an attack coming," he had begun. "I don't know who it is or why they're planning it, but I think it's paramilitary. If they're attacking Washington, it's got to be politically motivated". Hearing on the news that Clifford Chore was shot in a drive-by outside of a cafe by a man in a ski-mask and brandishing a fully automatic assault rifle, Nicole couldn't help but to get curious. She had to come see for herself.
Down below the men left the elevator in the underground parking lot. They made their way over to the large parking garage door. One of them, "Bob", opened up his tool box and fished out some sort of electronic box. He fiddled around with it, finding the proper frequency. After pressing a few buttons, the garage door slid open. Seconds after the threshold came up, the large white van that lacked licence plates pulled in. The door slid open, and six more men slid out. They all wore black military pants with built in knee pads, long sleeve black dry fits that lead up to matching gloves, tactical vests loaded with ammunition, each man armed with the KBP ADS. They had ski masks on to complete the outfit. The men who infiltrated the front of the building started taking off their jumpsuits, revealing the same outfits. They finished off with their ski masks, and then went through their bags and boxes. The men with duffel bags pulled out Saab Bofors AK-5, while the guys with the tool boxes drew MP7A1 weapons.
Nicole's head poked around the corner from the staircase. There was no police. The lack of police was very, very concerning to her. She made her way to the room, knowing the questions that the congressman would be asking. She wasn't in her suit, just a pair of jeans, some sneakers, a white tank top and a light jean jacket. She couldn't just walk in there with her super suit on. Nicole didn't even knock on his door, she just let herself in. Clifford Chore was sprawled out in his bed, looking up at the TV screen that was just playing old M*A*S*H* reruns. He was alone, no law officials to be seen. From the looks of things, Nicole was in the right spot. "Mr.Chore?" Nicole said as she opened up the door.
"Oh he-you're not my nurse," He said, his face growing cold as he looked her over. "I'm not to be disturbed."
"Vanessa sent me," Nicole held up the bag. "She told me you didn't want to eat the hospital food."
"She already sent someone earlier." Nicole looked over at the table beside his bed. There was a plastic shopping bag beside it. Nicole knew that she wasn't actually sent by his secretary, but he didn't know that. "It's funny though, I never contacted her." Now that, that truly was a little red flag for Nicole. She approached the bag, leaning in. She held her ear over it, hearing a faint ticking sound coming from inside. With her eyes going wide, she grabbed the bag. Much to Clifford's surprise, Nicole kicked the door open and threw the bag outside in the hall. After she closed the door, it wasn't long before came flying toward her, followed by a blast of fire. Instead of flinching and letting the door hit her, the woman extended her hand, stopping the door in mid air. She used the door as a shield, blocking the flames that attempted to come toward her. With a face that mirrored the strain she felt, the fire pushed with a great force toward her.
When the initial explosion had finished and fire contained itself, Nicole dropped the door to the ground. "We need to go now, Mr. Congressman."
"What is going on here?" The bewildered, disoriented Chore couldn't help but to wonder out loud.
Nicole hurried over to his bed, pulling the IV from his arm and helping him to his feet. "I think whoever put you here is trying to finish the job." She put his arm around her shoulders, reaching into her brown paper bag and pulling a Walther P22. She clicked off she safety and handed it to Clifford. "You're going to need this more than I will." She said, moving to the scorched hallway. Nicole poked her head out, looking down the hallway toward the elevators. They seemed dormant, as if they had a clear path. She escorted Clifford out of the room, toward the elevators. Suddenly the elevator dinged, and the doors opened. Three heavily armed men with assault rifles and ski-masks entered the hallway. From their movements and their cold demeanor, it was obvious that they had some sort of military background. They moved fluidly, like a river. This operation was rehearsed and practiced, it was as if this was business as usual for the men.
The two of them changed courses, moving now toward the hallway with the staircase. As they turned the corner to reach the hallway, there was a burst of gunfire behind them that just barely missed. They've been seen. Nicole had to look for cover if it came to it. There was another hallway that they could go through if it came down to it, and there would probably be an elevator that way, but Inova Fairfax was one of the biggest hospitals in Washington. There was no telling how long until they found a new elevator. The door to the staircase opened, and out walked three more similarly dressed men. Nicole slid Clifford's are off from around her, and sent her down the hallway that broke away from their current position. "Go, I'll catch up with you." She said to him. This was the problem with focusing more on her hand to hand combat, and putting little practice into her telekinetic abilities. She almost couldn't stop that door from hitting her, so she wasn't sure exactly what she would do in this scenario. Hopefully this would be all over the police scanners, and some hero would be on their way to help.
God, look at me, she said to herself. Now I'm in the position where I need a hero to help me. The men who came out of the staircase finally noticed her as the group from the elevator turned the corner. One man attempted to aim his gun down the sights to shoot her, probably writing her off as just a civilian. She raised her hand up, the gun flying out of his hands as he went to squeeze the trigger. He looked down at his hands in surprise, only seconds before Nicole flung him into the wall hard enough to cause an indent. Both groups of soldiers stopped in their tracks, it was as if they were re-accessing the situation here. Nicole didn't give them the time to figure it out. The gun that she had thrown away lifted itself up slowly, their backs turned to it. Nicole's finger twitched, and the gun went off. It's clip emptied into the two masked men, turning their chests into Swiss cheese. Nicole didn't need to be a psychic to know what was about to happen next. She quickly bolted toward the hall she sent the congressman down, but instead of running down the hall she stuck herself to the wall, waiting for the next three men to come to her.
As the three of them turned the corner, it was Nicole's time to strike. She stepped behind them, swiping her foot under one of the soldier's feet which knocked him down, and then firmly chopped the side of her hand into the second enemies' throat. The third tried to raise his gun to her, but without even thinking about it the clip came right out of the Saab Bofors AK-5 in his hands. With an unsuccessful attempt to shoot the woman, he found himself being the recipient of a more successful spinning kick to the jaw; an attack that quickly knocked his lights out. The man who was tripped was up now, and this time he had a knife in his hand. As he went to thrust his knife at her, Nicole stepped out of the way, grabbing a hold of his wrists and encouraged him to follow through with his attack, stabbing karate chop in the side as he was getting up. To finish him off the took him by the head, backing it off the wall various times before using the knife that killed karate chop, and forced it deep into his skull.
Nicole dusted her jacket off, and fluffed her hair. "I'm either going to need backup, or a vacation."

Four Blocks Away,
Exact Same Time

The blockade of police officers stood and watched as The Night Watcher came hurtling from the third floor window of the North Star Labs funded pharmaceutical research facility. Followed by a rain of glass, he crashed against a police car. "Come on, get up," Came the officer who slid his hands under Night Watchers armpits and lifted him back to his feet. "I have over $300 saying that you're going to get this one."
"This isn't fair," Conner grumbled through his mask. "There's two of them. Two of them! One is literally the six of four different people." He didn't have much time to complain, Sadist quickly created a large hole in the side of the building with his large gut, jumping out of it toward The Night Watcher. He landed right in front of the white clad superhero, wrapping his hand around his throat before throwing him once more, this time into the building wall. The throw didn't send him through the wall, but Sadist attempted to lower his shoulder and bull rush him. Conner waited for the right second before dropping to his shoulder and rolling out of the way. Dark Souls style. The Night Watcher ran over to the blockade of police cars. It was as if all the police in district were there to watch the destructive show. "I need to borrow this." He said, gripping the handle of a cruiser door, pulling it off like he was cutting through butter.
"Hey, behind you!" Came a voice from the crowd. The Night Watcher quickly spun around, dropping to one knee and holding the door in front of him, blocking a bolt of electricity that came toward him. Surge jumped from the hole that Sadist created, flipping in mid air to land perfectly without a scratch. He had an audience, and he was more than happy to show off. He had a large duffel bag strapped across the chest, which was quite clearly what the two had come for. Okay, I'll be okay as long as Sadist doesn't- the easiest way to cut a man's train of thought was to throw another man the size of a train at him, and that's exactly what happened. The Night Watcher had to cover his face with his new shield as Sadist charged him once again, this time throwing a fist. As it connected with the door it forced The Night Watcher to stumble back a few steps. Sadist went to throw a follow up punch, which just warranted Conner to jab his free hand forward, deflecting the punch by punching him right in the fist.
Surge laughed as he shot another bolt of lightning at The Night Watcher, before attempting to fly away from the scene. Conner ducked under Sadist's next fist and held his shield up, blocking the electric shock once again. He rolled away from Sadist, holding the shield like a throwing disc and Frisbee threw it right at Surge, hitting him in the mouth and sending him out of the air. With that little brat out of the way, I can focus on the biggest loser over here. Sadist put both of his fists together, bringing them down toward the Night Watcher. He hit him in the chest with a little too much force. Conner could hear a crack echoing through his chest as he fell backward. That's when the large hand wrapped itself around his leg and lifted him up off the ground.
"Ah, crap." Was all that Conner had time to say before he was thrown back into the building, right through the hole that Sadist first threw him through. He soared through the air like a majestic eagle. A majestic, in pain, pissed off eagle who was going through nicotine withdrawals. He crashed through a bunch of lab equipment and workbenches, skidding to a halt as his back crashed against a new wall. He sat there, resting his head against the wall as he attempted to count the stars spinning around his head. "I'm getting way too old for any of this shit." He finally had a chance to catch his breath, seeing as how Sadist finally wasn't hot on the pursuit. He slowly got up, the rubble falling off of his suit. Conner wobbled a little bit as he stood. He shook his head, knowing that he should probably just lay down and die. Instead, he walked across the room once again, walking toward the large hole in the wall leading out to the parking lot. He saw Sadist, but it looked like he had just thrown something. That's when he saw it coming straight toward him; a flying police car that was missing one of it's doors.
"Ah, crap."

Buzzing. Restless. Overflowing with a liveliness that screamed of something... unnatural. Electric. Iron Head had never caught whiff of a system like this before, but there was something else lingering underneath it. Something that made her own blood curdle furiously.

Experimentation.

Those were definitely altered genetics. Two of them, at that, and one had the audacity to try and flee... Oh, hell no. Shoving her way through the wall of crowding civilians, her gaze burned through her visor and locked onto Surge before extending an arm in the villain's direction. A long spindle of crimson jetted through the crevices of her suit and arched over the man like a massive paw, trying to slam him back into the concrete.

At the same time, she couldn't help but roll her eyes when a car went flying after Night Watcher. With her other hand, she willed another stream of blood to eject from her and sharpen into a wide blade, trying to slice through the vehicle and give the man a chance to dodge or avoid impact. Christ, this was a mess already.

"Fan... fucking... tastic," she muttered dryly.

When Surge had come back to consciousness he started coughing. Blood fell from his mouth, along with two molars and a canine tooth. He shakily got back to his feet, the world spinning. Suddenly the area around him started getting dark, as if a shadow had been cast over him. He looked up, seeing Iron Head's attack. "You've got to be kidding me." He groaned out. His body sparked with electrical energy, but before he could bring his hands up to cast an electric shield, it was too late. He was back down on the ground, this time in even more pain than the first time. Now he was starting to get pissed off, and nobody pissed off Surge. Well, plenty of people pissed off Surge, but not many of them survived it.

Laying face down on the ground, Surge lifted his hands, electricity welling up from either one of his palms. When the lightning struck, he was pushed up into the sky like mighty, sparking jets. He went at least fifteen feet in the sky, and when he landed, he landed with his palm against the ground, sending a mighty bolt of lightening hurtling toward the crowd. "Who did that?!" He called out. He knew it wasn't The Night Watcher, he was basically just some strong man in a Halloween costume. No, whoever took him down just now had some real super powers. Mutations maybe? Either way, his attacker wasn't going to be living too much longer.

The police and innocent onlookers hustled to move out of the way as Surge began to pulse with electricity. Yup, he was pissed off, alright. Lightning started striking randomly, and frequently throughout the crowd. Not only that, but he started throwing bolts from his hands randomly. The attacks were only random until he spotted the woman in the suit. Obviously, it was her. He didn't know how she did it, or what exactly she did, but she was as good as dead according to him.

The instincts kicked The Night Watcher into gear once again, just like it had on the bridge. The world began to slow as the car was cut in half. Conner dropped to his stomach, but pushed off the ground with his legs. He grabbed on to the edge of the building and pushed off, giving himself an extra boost. The car just barely grazed him, but he managed to avoid it and was currently flinging himself toward Sadist. He could almost hear that I Believe I Can Fly song playing through his brain. He never got to hear the chorus though, due to the fact that Sadist punched him out of the air and to the ground.

"God fucking damn it." The Night Watcher grumbled as he got up. He didn't realize how close he was to Surge until he turned around, seeing that they were nearly nose to nose. Before Conner could raise his fist, a bolt of lightning sent him flying back toward Sadist, who decided to pinball him back to the ground. Now Conner was starting to get pissed off. He stood up and dusted himself off, trying not to step on his cape. He raised his fists to the now charging Sadist. Using his anger to build up his own momentum, he put his arms out. As Sadist clashed against The Night Watcher's hands, he grasped a hold of him, cocking his body and tossing Sadist back into the building.

Conner spotted Iron Head, deciding that he needed to get over to her. The two of them could come up with a solid plan of attack, so long as they get the chance to actually discuss a strategy.

Ur Degaton

Ashes To Ashes
Who was he? What was he? Why did he exist?

These were the questions running through Solomon's mind as he walked down a city sidewalk. He was wearing a large trenchcoat and fedora to conceal his abominable form. looking like a comical depiction of a mobster or hitman. Ever since he woke up in a desolate warehouse two months back. He had been scowering the city looking for answers. So far he was successful in staying out of the eye of the public. If his existence was known, everyone would panic and he would be hunted by police and heroes alike. He knew how heroes were, he spent sixteen years dealing with them and their egos. The former man knew how the situation would play out if he was spotted by a meta. They would demand answers from him, he would try to speak but they wouldn't believe him. They would then assume he was some evil super geniuse's newest terminator and they would either try to detain him, or outright attack him if it was one of the more cocky and aggressive hero's. Then he would spend his life on the run until he was either caught by a meta, or captured and experimented on by the government.

Solomon rubbed the bridge of his nonexistant nose as the possible scenarios ran through his head. The good side of being a machine was that his brain ran like a super computer on crack. It only took him seconds to run through millions of outcomes to certain situations. The downside was that such critical thinking can exhaust his cpu. He remembered sleeping for ten hours straight after calculating the two hundred thousand, nine hundred and fifty four quickest ways to get to the bus stop.

He was roused from his musings by the sounds of gunfire coming from the hospital not too far away. The robot froze in place as he contemplated whether he should check it out or not.

It's none of your business, just keep moving, the cops will handle it.

Solomon began to walk once again before stopping in front of the hospital. He stood there and looked around but the police never showed up.

Jesus Christ is the entire force out fighting some villain or something, he thought to himself. Oblivious to the battle raging on downtown

He looked to the hospital and then back to the streets and then back to the hospital again. Making up his mind, the robot grunted in annoyance before running inside to see the commotion.

Kallen sat with bated breath upon his fifteen year old mattress, awaiting for a call for help to come across the scanner; he had bought the bed only last week in a yard sale during his to move to living by himself. He tucked his blonde hair behind his ears and then rearranged himself so he would be able to sit at the foot of the bed.

"APB, all units report to..." Kallen's eyes leapt to the fresh costume that hung upon the pale green of the wall. "Finally, I can actually do something," he thought before his focus returned to the scanner.

"...we have two supervillains causing panic. Reinforcements are needed as soon as possible. Current threats are as follows: Surge, manipulator of electricity and Sadist, a massive brute. Lethal force is authorized in order to reduce casualties. The battle is approximately four blocks from Fairfax..."

Kallen leapt off his bed, ripping his costume from it's hook just seconds after. He slid his arms into the sleeves, his legs into the pants legs. Wearing the costume felt as if her were wearing those old footie pajama's he so remembered cherishing as a child; every inch of the costume was tailored to his specifications. After he convinced his parents to give him the ten grand they had put away for his college education, he put most of it towards crafting a costume and making a down payment on his apartment.

He pulled his old combat knife from its home open the small wooden desk in the corner of his room-its color complimented the deep red of his costume, threw his house keys into the small pouch sewn into his suit's right hip, along with a tube of pepper spray and a lighter.

Soon enough, Kallen had made his way down the steps and out into the streets of DC. The sounds of general calamity filled the air as he jogged and weaved through alleyways, side streets and across major roadways. He manuevered as if he knew the area; ironically, he had lived within six blocks of the upcoming fight his entire life.

He spotted Night Watcher making his way to an odd figure in a metal suit; he ran forwards to join them.

The radio was understandably alive with news coverage of the incident at the North Star facility, barking on and on about Night Watcher facing down Sadist and Surge. 'Not really something I wanna get mixed up in, but...,' he thought to himself, his foot pressing down firmly against the accelerator of his modified Cadillac Phantom--a fitting name, in his opinion. Making a sharp turn around the corner, he sped down Gallows Road, heart thumping in anticipation, wondering just how in the hell he was going to stand up to the likes of those two. It was then that the news station began to spew reports of a commotion transpiring at Inova Fairfax; details were unclear, but there were reports of gunfire. 'That sounds more up my alley,' he thought, whipping his car onto Woodburn Road in hopes he would avoid any police barricades. To his astonishingly rare good luck, it seemed the police weren't covering the area around the hospital yet--too busy dealing with the calamity at North Star, he figured. Still, he figured discretion would serve him better, slowing the Phantom's speed as he pulled into the parking lot of Woodburn Village.

The hospital parking lot was surprisingly empty for a place that was experiencing a shootout, but Leon decided it best to have a place that would make for an easy getaway for when the cops finally did show. Quickly, he donned his outfit: a blue trench coat over a black suit, complete with a matching blue hat, as well as his signature mask that made his face appear as if it were wrapped in bandages, the emissive yellow lenses adding to that menacing look he was going for. Beneath his suit he wore a bulletproof vest, just in case. Completing the ensemble by donning a pair of black leather gloves, he scaled the fence separating the village from the hospital and made his way inside.

Civilians and hospital staff alike were rushing past, trying to distance themselves as much as possible from the premises. None of them really stopped to take notice of him--tunnel vision was a blessing when other people experienced it. It didn't take a genius to discern why this place had suddenly become a shooting gallery: Clifford Chore was here after a rather nasty attempt on his life some time previously. If there was one truth in life it was that politicians were never safe from stray bullets, and Mr. Chore was no exception. Wading his way through the hospital corridors, Leon finally found an entry to a stairwell. He ascended quickly, not really sure on which floor he was supposed to be heading to, and it wasn't as if he could ask anyone; the few people he did encounter were too panicked to be of any help. However, the sounds of gunfire and miscellaneous other commotion reverberated through the solitude of the stairwell, so he followed the noise, picking up his pace as he did so.

Eventually, he got to where he needed to be, still following the calamitous chorus of destruction. Rounding a corner, he passed over a trio of bodies; men clad in black, their rifles scattered upon the floor, one guy with a knife in his skull, causing the blood to spill out of his head like a water fountain. Gruesome, and very much not Leon's style, but effective. He kept following the sounds of conflict until he was able to catch up to whoever was causing all of this ruckus.

Reinforcements had arrived at Inova Fairfax in the form of two more white vans. They parked in front of the emergency intake wing, blocking the way for anyone coming in or out. It was all over their personal radios that Chore had slipped through the first strike team's hands, and that there was now someone causing a huge shitstorm for a seemingly simple operation. Six more armed insurgents came from the first vehicle. One of them opened the sliding door of the second van, revealing it to be empty. "Plan B is engaged." Came the voice of the driver over their communications headsets. Those four words were pretty much the equivalent of an audible call in football. It changed the entire tactic that the kill team was using.

The driver and passenger of the van in the parking lot jumped out. The passenger grabbed his Mossberg Maverick 88 shotgun from the rack they had installed between the driving area and the cargo portion of the van. They left the doors of the vehicle open, but grabbed the same piece of technology that had opened the garage door before. Once the door to the parking garage was closed up once more, the driver pulled out his detonator and pressed down on the kill switch. There was at least sixty seconds until plan B truly began. Anyone in the lobby of the hospital would probably want to evacuate, considering the van was loaded with fifteen pounds of explosives.

Nicole could see the elevator, but she wasn't alone in the hallway leading up to it. She could see the congressman sitting on his knees in his hospital gown, the gun she had given him was at his feet, and his hands were behind his head. There was a single masked man standing behind him, his gun against the back of Clifford's head as he yelled into his earpiece. Nicole stopped, looking at the two. Then she heard more footsteps. She turned her head toward the Azure Ghost, put raised her arm that was directed at the terrorist and his target.

"Who are you?" Nicole asked. The pistol slowly slid up off of the ground beside Chore. "Did The Night Watcher send you?" She followed up her question as the pistol lifted itself up to look at the masked opponent. His body froze, and he stared it down the barrel like he was staring a gunman in the eyes. "I was really hoping that someone would show up to help, I don't know how many of them are down there." Nicole turned her head away from the ghost like figure, raising her other hand toward the two men. Slowly, the clip was released from the man's machine gun. Before he could blink she slapped it across his face with the simple flick of her wrist. As he fell, she dropped her grip on the magazine, and switched it to the rifle, hitting him in the face like it was a baseball bat.

It might have just been coincidence that Solomon was entering when the last five members of the first kill squad who had entered the building made it to the lobby, but there he was. They already had their guns raised to him. They knew they didn't have a whole lot of time left to get out of the lobby, but they had orders to take out anyone they cross paths with. Besides, one meta had already given Team Alpha troubles, odds are he was just backup in some sort of fucked up superhero networking scheme.

Leon watched, feeling a sense of amusement that he was unaccustomed to, as the gunman was dropped like a wet sandbag after receiving a psychokinetic beatdown from his own gun. He made his hands clearly visible to show that he wasn't a threat to anyone he didn't need to be. "Uhhh...no," he responded softly, "Heard about the commotion on the radio." Looking past Nicole at the neutralized goon and the cowering Chore, he pointed his index finger down the hall, "What's the situation, exactly; aside from an obviously well-trained group of paramilitary thugs trying to kill the congressman there? Any idea who these guys are?"

Ah... It seemed that the little lightning bug was blowing a fuse. Wonderful, really. Huffing under her breath, Iron Head watched in distaste as his temper tantrum started to spread, threatening the safety of nearby onlookers. It somewhat irked her; not only because of endangerment, but because these people were still hovering around like curious children.

"Who did that?!" Surge yelled, earning another sigh from Iron Head. No matter, she'd use his anger anyways she could. The villain clearly had his sights set on her, so she could at least maneuver in a way that would draw him away from civilians... Dammit. She hated having morals. What good were those? Absolutely none, that's what.

As Night Watcher took a brief pummeling, she looped around to the other side of Surge, her back facing a wall of buildings rather than people, and summoned another globule of blood and melded it into the cracks riddling the concrete. It snaked through the pathways and funneled into the air once more, allowing itself to thin out and flatten into a flexible shield floating in front of the crowd.

The downside? It was a damn big shield and one that required a hefty amount of concentration to sustain. Just as that thought passed through her skull, Night Watcher and that... transit kid (Transit? Transform? Wait... No. Transfer. That was it) were suddenly next to her. She addressed the larger hero first. "I won't be much help against Watt Twat; his attacks will cancel mines out. Unless you got a way to put a damper on his bolts..." The last of that statement was directed at Transfer as well. She didn't know what either of them could do about Surge, but for now...

She whipped around on the fallen Sadist and shot a small ball of blood towards his wrist, the only thing she could summon at the moment. It circled around the villain's meaty wrist and hardened like a cuff glued to the ground, hopefully enough to slow him down for a second and give the heroes a moment to act.

Ashes To Ashes
Solomon raised his hands In a placating manner as the armed men raised their guns.

“Cease your hostilities and drop your projectile weapons, guns have no place in a sterilized medical environment,” He said, his voice unnaturally deep and mechanically monotonous. That, combined with his glowing red eyes and terminator-like appearance, made him have an overall intimidating presence.

Unfortunately it seemed the group of men were used to such speeches from heroes as they immediately opened fire. Sending a hailstorm of lead that lit up the already well lit lobby. Solomon stood there and let them unload their rifles.

It only took a few moments for the clicking sounds of empty guns to be heard. The criminals stared confusingly at the still standing metal man. The most damage the bullets had done was destroy his coat and hat, leaving a very pissed off robot in the process

“My turn,” Solomon said before ripping off his clothing to reveal the rest of his mechanical body. Without any more hesitation, he began walking towards the men at a casual pace. The group of killers tactically backed up as they began reloading. But Solomon wasn’t concerned in the slightest. They opened fire again with the same results, the bullets harmlessly bounced off his highly durable chassis like a boy shooting his BB gun at a brick wall.

The men quickly learned and tried resorting to melee combat. They brandished knives and tried stabbing, slashing, and kicking at him. Solomon looked at them for a moment before back handing one of them Into a wall, knocking them out cold and leaving a hole in the partition.

Not giving them any more chances to react. He grabbed two of them by the head and smashed them into each other like a slapstick comedy sketch. They both stumbled in agony before falling to the ground like sacks of shit. The remaining two looked at each other before attempting to run away, only for Solomon to kick one of them in the back. Sending one into the other as they both fell in a heap. The man Solomon kicked was too busy groaning in pain to notice the robot dragging the last remaining conscious criminal by the foot towards an elevator.

Solomon walked over to the elevator doors and pried then open. He grabbed the man by the neck and stuck him out into the shaft, just as the elevator was coming down

“Tell me why you’re here and who you’re working for or that elevator will remove your head from your torso,” He threatened the assassin.

Kallen whipped the knife out of its holster before looking to the humanoid in the strange suit and saying, "I can definitely do that if we can find a way to bind him. Could always..." Kallen took the knife and slid it across the top of his arm, carving a long line into the flesh. Spots of dark red blood rose up against the soft material of his super suit, barely noticeable to anyone but the most observant of folks. "...transfer my pain to him."

He reached deep inside of himself for that seemingly infinite well of power that flooded through his veins, dancing across his muscles and skating across his nerves. He felt each individual swirling helix of DNA, the individual proteins that bound them together; adenine, thymine, guanine and cytosine. He reached even deeper, and felt the prions that rested within each protein. He checked to make sure they were folded properly; any that were out of place he fed a small amount of energy to, willing them to shift to a different part of his body he had partitioned for that specific purpose. He needed to make sure that none of them started replicating, but he also needed an insurance policy on enemies who could hurt him. "One day, I'll be sure to study up one which prion diseases are caused by which mutation," he thought.

With his initial preparations complete, he fed a large pulse of energy to the long gash on his arm, willing it to shift to an innocuous portion of his lower leg. The pain stung, but he had already been through it once.

Xiao Xuan allowed herself a silent inner sigh as she "heard" the police band explode with transmissions. She normally blocked out most of the ambient electromagnetic noise, but this was enough out of the ordinary to draw her attention, like how you tune out people's conversations at a party but notice when your name is mentioned. Pretty close by, and that Surge guy was... well, from what she could figure out from a quick DuckDuckGo, he had a much, much cruder version of her own powers. Brutish and amateurish.

Well, that couldn't be allowed to go on, could it?

She clicked off her GoPro - the filming would have to wait - pity, that guy's shoes were so on point, and she really wanted to get an interview with him. But needs must. She ducked into an alley and shrugged her jacket off, revealing a bodysuit of chromorphic fabric that went from navy to blue-and-white as she sent a trickle of current through it. A quick flip of a hood completed her costume change.

Minutes later, Coils appeared on the scene and took up a strategic perch, off to one side of the confrontation. Sadist had gone down but Surge was still glowering and trying to look dangerous. Hey, no problemo.

She had the bag of BB pellets in her hand. A hypersonic ball of steel would really wreck Surge's day, but he hadn't actually done that much harm and escalating to that level might be a little bit much just right now. So she opted for subtlety instead.

The electrical fields around Surge flared like sodium lights to her vision. She only had to reach out, concentrate... and damp them right down. Likely the clown wouldn't even notice, but the moment he tried to throw a bolt of lightning, she could just shut it down to a squib and a crackle. Downright embarrassing, as the other capes proceeded to pound him into the ground, but eminently survivable.

A smirk crossed her face. She was going to enjoy watching this.

As The Night Watcher managed to get over to Iron Head, he noticed that another hero had turned his little one man crusade into a trio. He listened to what Iron Head was saying, realizing just how much sense she was making. "Okay," He said, looking over to Sadist, who was currently being held down, and then to Surge, who was having a very distracted temper tantrum. That was when he realized; the only time he wasn't being smacked around by lightning bolts was after Conner had knocked him out. "I think I got it. Wait right here."

The crowd had nearly dispersed. Or at least, the crowd had broken apart and regrouped at different vantage points across the street. Conner jogged his way over to a police car, and once again started pulling doors off. He took the back door and slid it over to Transfer, before taking the driver and passenger doors for himself. He regrouped with the two, a prototype plan running through his head. Would it work? Who knows. Was it worth a shot? God damn right. "Here, take that," Conner directed his comment to Transfer, before turning his own car door into what looked like shield. "Iron Head, I have two jobs for you. I need you to play crowd control, make sure nobody gets hurt. Second, I need you to watch my ass out there. I'm going to try and neutralize Sadist before he can realize that we're about to take a shit all over his brother's day. Kid," His words were now aimed to Transfer. "While I take care of Sadist, I need you to keep Surge distracted. Put up a fight against him, piss him off. If you get him pissed off enough, I'll come behind him and catch him off guard."

Was it a good plan? Probably not, but it was the first thing to pop up into Conner's head. Whether it was a good plan or not, he was already circling around Surge and heading to the subdued Sadist. While Sadist was still locked to the ground, Conner decided to give him a powerful flying knee to the jaw, and when he landed he thrust his body around, backhanding the giant with the shield. "Let him go!" He called over to Iron Head, preparing to give the large imbecile a taste of his own medicine. Conner had been getting his butt kicked by these two all day, and he wasn't ready to let them think that they could walk all over him. It was officially three against two. Out of the corner of The Night Watcher's eye he saw someone else watching. Coils watched the entire scene play out like it was some sort of television show. No matter, Conner would just have to put on a good show for them all to see, if he faced Surge or Sadist one on one, the fight would have been done in ten minutes. Fifteen minute, tops.

Conner went to raise his fist, but felt Surge's fist hit his stomach, and he was flying again. Conner was getting strangely tired from being thrown through walls. The irritated Night Watcher stood up. He was back in the building, and now he was pissed. Sadist did that little thing where he rushed Conner, but Conner was ready. He cocked his arm back, and smashed his shield against Sadist, this time sending him flying back outside. The Night Watcher walked outside, feeling tired from fighting for the past hour. Sadist had crushed into a police car, and left a large body sized imprint on it. It was time to finally end this.

Inova Fairfax Hospital
Time until detonation: 10 seconds

It all just happened so quickly. It was supposed to just be a routine neutralization, but they had never practiced putting down a robot before. There's 7.53 billion people alive on the Earth, the chances of running into a robot is less likely than getting eaten by a shark, or struck by lightning. The masked assassin looked down the elevator shaft. His feet were dangling, as if he was trying to reach the ledge. That's when he realized; he was dead anyway. If the elevator didn't get him, then the explosion would. They were given thirty seconds to get out of the lobby, and he had lost track of time the moment they got their asses kicked by the robot.

"Do it," The masked man said, looking at Solomon where his eyes would have been. "How strong is that body?" He couldn't help but grin, thinking about the robot being crushed under rubble, or what the fire would do to it's circuitry. "You've made a big mistake." Those were his last words. As the timer ran out, a series of reactions began happening in the van down in the parking lot. The explosion was enough to engulf the entire parking garage, and leveling the first two floors of the building. The fire traveled up the elevator shafts, turning the hanging assassin into nothing but a pile of ash and dust. There were miniature explosions all over the first and second floor; flammable materials were always a good thing to have around, until, of course, there's a terrorist attack.

"I don't know exactly who they are," Nicole said as they started to walk toward Chore. "The Night Watcher told me about a top secret military base that was broken into, and had some pretty experimental tech stolen. He thinks it was some sort of paramilitary group will some pretty serious training. When I heard about congressman Chore's little accident, I decided to come and see if it was something a little more serious than just a drive by. Most street gangs don't have access to the military grade assault rifles used in the drive by."

Just as Nicole was getting closer to Chore, the elevator doors burst off, hurtling toward the two. Exciting the elevator was a huge hand of fire, bursting out to swallow Chore and the unconscious soldiers. Nicole attempted hold her hands out and get a mental grip on the two doors, but found herself distracted by the huge gust of fire heading toward them. The doors flew toward her and Leon with enough force to probably take their heads off, and there was nothing she could do about it.

Crowd control...

Fuck. She was hoping he didn't say that, but saw the comment coming either way. Regardless, Night Watcher had a point and it would keep her away from lightning strikes, so screw it. Nodding, she bolted over to a group a short way down the street and willed the same shield from before to curl around them from behind like a rug. It nudged them (a tad forcefully, she wasn't one for gentleness)towards the sidewalk and a safe distance away. Once they were far enough, a piece of crimson separated from the wall and jammed into the ground before them like a pike.

The message was clear enough: Don't cross beyond that point.

Iron Head repeated the process for another group, feeling sweat rolling down her back under her suit. All of this concentration was slowly but surely eating away at her stamina, but she wouldn't dare let it bother her until the mutant brothers were put on their asses. However, she gave pause at Night Watcher's call and dissipated the cuffs around Sadist's wrist with a flick of her hand, rolling her eyes when he and Surge sent the hero flying again.

But at least Sadist went flying next. Right into a police car.

As quickly as she could, Iron Head barricaded the last group of citizens and allowed the last strips of blood to snake its way towards the battle, another fresh stream escaping her suit to congeal with it. Christ. She couldn't afford to give away anymore blood, at least not for another few minutes. She would have to make due with the amount in front of her. Sucking in a sharp breath, she formed another blade and hacked clean through the pole of a streetlight and curled blood around it tightly. "Night!" With a sweep of the arm, the pole was tossed Night Watcher's way.

"Batter up," she drawled with a crooked grin. Hey, if she wasn't jumping straight into the action, then she'd at least like to see that lard of doom get knocked like a baseball straight into home run.

With that out of the way, she whipped her attention on Transfer, trying to see if he needed assistance with anything while also ignoring the... Ah, she knew that smell as well. Definitely Coil's blood. Whatever, it wasn't her priority.

Coils rolled her eyes at Night Watcher's performance.

"And that, true believers," she said in a stage whisper to nobody in particular, "is our garden-variety toxic masculinity. Hurting yourself and other people for the sake of ego. And when you have two or more of these stellar intellects going at each other, you get what is known as the monkey dance."

She held up her left hand, thumb upright, index finger pointing forward, middle finger stuck out square to the other two.

Fleming's left-hand rule.

A BB floated in the air, just above the crook of finger and thumb.

Coils took a deep breath, let out half of it, held. The corners of her mouth turned up, just a little.

A resounding crack echoed from her location as a small sphere of steel accelerated to a little north of Mach 7, on its way to Surge's butt. It might seem like a ridiculous target to aim at, but given the kind of hydrostatic shock the impact of the pellet would cause, it would give him a fighting chance of avoiding death or permanent disability when it hit.

Not that Coils really cared all that much, but it was better to be able to articulate your reasoning if it came to a legal inquiry.

As the floor he stood on and the floor above him began to collapse. Solomon jumped into the elevator shaft as the fire consumed him. The sheer force from the explosion destroyed the elevator above him and shot the robot upwards like a rocket. He grunted in artificial pain as his internal circuits began to melt from the intense heat. He could withstand extreme temperatures, but prolonged exposure can damage his insides.

Solomon was rag-dolled as the explosion carried him like a river’s stream to the top of the shaft. He gripped onto the the top floor’s elevator doors and pulled them open, allowing fire to pour into the area.

I didn’t sign up for this shit.

Solomon stumbled into the top floor, covered in fire and looking like a Ghost Rider knockoff. He ran diagnostics on his body, revealing his internals to be 35% damaged from the explosion.

Damn it, I’ll need to make repairs later.

Not wasting any more time, he checked each room to make sure all the patients were ok. He didn’t know how many floors the explosion destroyed. But there had to be casualties. The robot cursed himself for allowing such a thing to happen, if he knew there was a bomb, he probably could’ve deactivated it. But he wasted time fighting a group of goons.

CRACK!

Kallen watched a bright flash of light bored into his eyes from the soaring metal BB; he captured the pain caused by his sensitivity to light before it could lapse away. He fired a pulse of energy into his lower arm, directing the pain to sit there. The pain flared in his arm-it was just a simple nerve reaction, and thus it felt the same as a direct hit.

He watched as Surge tensed up from the impact. He could imagine how potent such a puncture would be if it were in a different place, and he hoped that the pain would last long enough for him to steal and possibly shift to a different location. He continued to jog forward, holding his knife in front of him in a defensive stance; Night Watcher had taught him that trick just a few days before.

"Night Watcher! I think I can take him out by myself!" He hoped he could shift the pain around within Surge without spending a full minute touching him; that would be an incredible blessing. Kallen felt deep into his own arm, felt the buzzing of electrical impulses as they carried their messages from nerve centers to the brain. In a way, he had figured out, it was like a postal service.

Azure Ghost
Inova Fairfax Hospital

Leon had often found himself in life-or-death situations during his tenure as the Azure Ghost: top speed car chases that careened around turns so sharp they might actually cut someone in half; struggling to break free from a chain that attached him to an exceptionally hefty slab of concrete while trying to keep the air in his lungs from escaping into the water he had been submerged in; and facing down several barrels of fully-loaded-and-ready-to-kill-pesky-vigilantes automatic rifles. No matter what situation Leon seemed to find himself in, he always seemed to be prepared for it. This time, however, was wildly different. This time, he wasn't prepared...at all. Two flavors of death were hurtling towards him, the congressman and Nicole--and that fact seemed to throw the heroine so off guard that it left him with no time to plan, and only time to do what his reflexes would allow.

In an instant Leon made a mad dash towards the congressman, simultaneously procuring from beneath his coat a small, black sphere about the size of a grape and a device that looked like some sort of paintball pistol with a hook lodged into the barrel. The spherical device was a low-yield explosive, just powerful enough to severely ruin someone's day--or to eradicate a troublesome hospital window that was blocking the only exit he had. What could be heard next was a rather audible bang, followed by the sound of raining glass as the window was decimated by the explosive. With precious seconds left, Leon forced the congressman to his feet, clutching the man tightly with an arm around his chest. "Move!" he shouted at Nicole just before tumbling out of the window, aiming the grapple gun at any surface he had a chance in hell of latching onto.

A quick hiss of pressurized gas erupted from the mechanism, the alloy cable springing outward as the wind whipped past Leon and the congressman's frames. The vigilante could only hope his death was painless as they descended, his one saving grace seeming more and more to be a sentence of damnation as the milliseconds passed by without any sign of reprieve. Suddenly, as if the fates had decided that Leon should be allowed at least one more day of suffering for his good deeds, the cable became taut, the grappling hook having found purchase upon a ledge of the hospital's rooftop. It wasn't until he was dangling from the cable, his arm sore from the sudden stop, that he realized the congressman had been screaming the entire time. With no time to lose, and no time to see if Nicole had managed to survive the bombardment that had so nearly cost all of them their lives, he reversed the grapple's motor, allowing he and Mr. Chore to descent at a steady rate so they might find solid ground again.

Despite his efforts, however, Leon knew this wasn't the end of the day's excitement. 'Out of the fire', quite literally, he thought, 'into the bullshit.'

Conner's attention went straight to Iron Head. He was glad that she wasn't trying to warn him of an incoming attack, because his ADHD would have spent more time trying to focus on her rather than the attack that was heading for him. Instead, she had an idea. A very good idea, at that. The Night Watcher dropped his shields, wrapping his arms around the incoming pole. It wasn't as heavy as he originally thought it was. The pole couldn't be compared to a feather, more like a little dumbbell that he would use as a warm-up at the gym. He prepared his footing; he started with his feet square, and then as Sadist began to stand up, he brought his right foot forward as if he were stepping into the swing.

The pole cracked against Sadist's head. Conner watched as the impact site instantly started to bruise. The only problem is that there was still consciousness in Sadist's eyes. He jabbed the pipe into the giant's stomach, and then gave him a strike to the side like he was a baseball. Sadist gained a fair amount of air, and more distance than Conner thought possible. To add insult to injury, The Night Watcher tossed the pole up in the air, catching it with one hand before throwing it like a dart. It struck Sadist and thrust him to the ground with even more force. The man didn't move. He didn't try to get up. All he did was breathe shallow breaths.

"Alright, wrap this up, kid." Conner called over in response to Transfer. "I need to go have a cigarette, and some pie." He groaned as he walked past Surge, who was starting to freak out over the fact that nobody was paying attention to him. Then he saw his brother, defenseless and unconscious. His eyes went toward the Night Watcher, who was picking the pole up once again. Surge shouted out at The Night Watcher before raising his hand up, it flickering with static and electricity. He didn't get to launch it, however. As the BB crashed against his buttock, he pressed both hands to his hind end and howled in pain. This proved to be a big mistake.

Conner looked over his shoulder and raised an eye brow. If he blinked, or looked over even a second later, he would have missed it; when Surge grabbed his ass, he still had electricity welling through his hands, and sent the full force of a lightning storm through his own body. "Transfer," Conner called out. "Take him out, now's your chance." With one hand, he rolled Sadist over on to his back. He placed the pole on the ground, stomping on it until it became flat. Using all of his strength, he bent and tightened the flat pole around Sadist's hands, creating a cuff of sorts.

It would have been hard to notice the neighborhood shaking a few minutes ago, but when The Night Watcher looked to the sky to try and spot Coils once more, he saw the great cloud of smoke filling the sky from the direction of the hospital. The Night Watcher stepped on Sadist's back, bringing his hands up to his eyes to block out the sun. "So, who's going to take care of that?" He called out to nobody in particular, pointing toward the smoke. "I need a nap, otherwise I would totally be down to clean it up."

Inova Fairfax Hospital

Everyone was accounted for, the senator, the super who had just joined her, but the only problem was that now Nicole had to figure her own shit out. She turned her body, aiming at the window, and made a mad dash for it. She crashed through the window, the heel of her shoe just barely escaping the flames. That was when she realized; I don't have a plan. She took a page from The Night Watcher's book of winging it and letting a strategy come to her as she went along. The only problem was that she didn't seem to realize that she wasn't a master strategist like The Night Watcher was.

Nicole closed her eyes as she was falling. She straightened her body out, and held her arms out. Just like with any other use of her telekinetic power, she pictured the gravity around her using her mind's eye. She could picture herself, with an aura of glowing red dots. She pictured the dots popping quickly until there were none left, and then Nicole could imagine a gust pushing blue dots, blue that represented her telekinetic ability, sweeping underneath her. When she opened her eyes, she wasn't falling anymore. Instead, she was flying forward out of control. In a display that was very un-superhero like of her, she screamed in surprise. She reached out, grabbing the ledge of a window and pulling herself in.

Now that Nicole's concentration was broken, the gravity came back to her. She wasn't safe yet, she was on the top floor of a burning building, and unannounced to her, there was an entire death squad shooting up the emergency wing in hopes of neutralizing anyone that either A.) could be the congressman or B.) Had seen any of the masked men. Nicole stood up and dusted herself off. When she looked over, she spotted the robot. Now, she had seen The Terminator, and I Robot, and 2001: A Space Odyssey, but she didn't want to jump to any conclusions.

"Are you one of the good guys?" She called out to the robot.

Ashes To Ashes
Solomon turned to the voice to see a young woman, who oddly seemed to have climbed in through a window just seconds prior.

“If by good you mean not one of those armed terrorist’s, then yeah,” He said as the building shook, causing him to lean against a wall to prevent himself from falling.

“This building is unstable, the explosion must’ve destroyed its foundations. If we don’t get the patients out of here, this whole place will collapse with them,” He told the girl with an urgent tone, if that were even possible.

Solomon began scanning the area, calculating at least twenty individuals to be present. “I’m going to guess that your some kind of meta-human judging by your *Ahem* rough entrance. Can your powers do anything to save these people?” He asked the hero, knowing that he couldn’t save the patients on his own.

Currently, he had nothing but his superhuman strength, durability, speed, and computer intelligence. But even those weren’t enough to deal with the current situation.

I knew I shouldn’t have gotten involved, now these people lives rest in my hands.
