Hidden: The Next Stage

Dante stumbled as the doors behind him got blasted. The pressure of the explosion literally threw him into the wall on the other end. "Gah..." He uttered, as blood forced itself out of his mouth. He landed on the floor, however in a crouching position. Luckily for him, he was able to save himself from further injuries. He tilted his head upwards and noticed a woman. A psycho woman who asked him about his mark. He knew then and there that this mark would determine his fate, and why on earth would he show it to someone who was showing nothing but anger and hostility towards him? She was a dangerous person. Was she even a person? "Like hell, I don't care about where it is. Show it to me.. If you want me to show you mine!" He raised his voice, followed by him using the arm to wipe away the blood surrounding his lips. He stood up as the alarm was still set off. He looked around his surroundings and without noticing earlier, he ended up cornering himself into the engine room. However, judging by what the psycho woman said earlier, she definetly had a mark, but she was too embarassed to show it. "If its a matter of life and death, I don't care where it is!!" He pointed at her, though sweat was running down his pale yet panicked face. "You p-p-p-psycho woman!"... He exclaimed in a hasty way. What else was he suppose to do? Maybe it was agitating her? "I-I... If you're g-g-g-g-gonna kill me.. You b-b-b-est do it a-a-a-fter finding out if I am your p-p-p-partner" Dante was stuttering, wondering why he was saying that. Was he out of his mind?

Moments later, he remembered, he was given an ability by the bot, it was speed. Something he might be able to use to go past her, and maybe get the hell out of middle deck. Or maybe someone was coming to his aid? Hopefully, but you never know. He knew that if he showed her his mark, she would literally kill him if it isn't the same as hers. Dante inhaled the air around him and exhaled thoroughly. The panic in his mind was fading away, and now he was out to find a way. A way out of the tricky situation itself. But would she really kill him even if he showed her it or not? Was she the GLITCH the bot was talking about? "So.. woman... I am defenseless here. So showing me yours wouldn't help me at all. It'll give you a chance to reunite with someone you're seeking" He stated, though his voice was much calmer now, but it would be hilarious if this psycho woman was the one Dante was seeking. Hilarious, indeed, but psychotic at the same time.

Blair was surprised the man had heard him in the air duct, his blue and green eyes wide as he stared at the man. As he stared at the man he couldn't help but feel the slight tingle of fear run down his spine, it was familiar in an almost comforting way that caused him some concern. Pushing the disconcerting feeling away, Blair opened his mouth to answer only to be halted by the actions of several Spiders as the launched themselves onto the seeker as per their orders. However, when the automatons escaped the vent, they caused the hidden to shift awkwardly effectively making him fall.

Fearing that he would land on the seeker, Blair tried to shift about mid air, narrowly dodging the pyro and instead landing ontop of one of the spiders. The combination of his weight and the pull of gravity causing him to snap a few of the robot's legs as well as knock the air out of the young man, a large gasp expelling from his lips as his body began to shake, trying to restore his breath.

Shuddeing from the effort to breathe, the brunette struggled to his feet before running in the direction the seeker had originally came from, however he stopped when he heard the Maker's alert. 'A glitch! Why is there a glitch in this game...Crap it woke up the boss!' Was all Blair could think as he outright sprinted for the save point.

"Please! Please! Please, don't give me any bull right now. I just wanna live and get the hell out of this game." He yelled as he ran, however as he finally noticed the group of people standing in the hall he slammed right into a behemoth in a catsuit. Effectively causing him to land on his backside.

"Ow... who put the brick wall there?" The blue and green eyed man said, rubbing his ass as he got up with with, mix-matched eyes.

Robert sighed in relief when Tony had healed him. He looked around and heard the bot speak about a matching pair he smiled wryly. Then suddenly, someone bumped into the man named Wolf and he had to stifle his amusement as the entire floor shook and as quickly as the data entered his mind, he summoned ice behind the hidden still close to the elevators and PUSHED them away as he tackled Tony away.

Not a moment too soon apparently.

A large static like screech made itself known and a protruding tentacle had gone through the floor. Robert's violet eyes widened as he watched the tentacle disappeared from sight but the ship shaking around wasn't stopping. He growled. Whatever the Maker was doing with the game's codes is making the Boss going loco and it was seriously making his job even more harder.

"Damn it Maker" he hissed to himself. A small sound made itself known and confused, Robert looked down and realized he was still on top of Tony, he pulled himself away quickly, hiding his rising blush. He was getting soft...and flustered. "Damn it, Rushmore" he called out, facing away from everyone. "How many times do I have to save your freaking ass?!"

He stood straighter and took a second to compose himself. The Octobot is going mad and in realization, or rather data influx in his mind. He began to catalog where each player was and cursed. Two players were still down. Glancing at the elevators, he knew they were going to be useless.

And the middle deck was going to go. Plus there was the fact he had a glitch to annihilate.

Robert turned to van Dyke and everyone else. "Run to the Save Point" he called out. "Safest place right now!" He watched as the tentacle pull down the elevator doors and he smirked to himself. Almost as if it read his mind. Raising his right hand, he created a sleek ice path, one only he could use.

He turned back to them and frowned. "You're not going to follow me, understand?" he instructed. "You follow me, I shoot." Leveling his gun at them with a blank mask. "And I have a very good shot." With that, he slid down his ice path.

Robert kept his gun steady and his icicles floating at hand. It wouldn't do for the Boss or the Glitch to attack him just as he reached the ground. He saw the shadow of the creature and ignored it and ran the opposite direction.

His eyes glazed as data was sent to him by the Maker. He smirked slightly, seems like the Maker is trying to make killing the glitch earlier. He saw her figure ahead of him, and quickly, he kept the gun smoothly attached to his leg, he pulled back his right fist while running.

The surrounding area froze over. He extended his hand sharply and smirked. He knew it was a direct with blood spluttering from her back as the imbedded ice disappeared. He gave a dark grin as he stepped inside behind her wounded form.

"That felt bloody good." he whispered to himself darkly before grinning at the other.

"Hello Glitch." he greeted her. "Pay back time."

Before he could say anything else, a loud crash between the walls and the Octobot gave a resounding roar. He blinked. Crap. That thing followed him. Seeing a figure on the far end of the room, he tilted his head in distraction. Dante. His mind commented.

Rolling his eyes, he exhaled sharply. "Damn it." he cursed. Apparently he had to put his fight with her on hold, he did have a game to run. "Player Dante!" he called out, ignoring the Boss as it continued to come closer, leaving a gap in the wall where the other could run past. "GET OUT! Run towards the elevator!" he instructed.

He turned to Skye and snarled. He'll deal with her later. The Middle Deck was being ripped to pieces and he liked staying alive thanks. "Hurry!" he said, with one more look, he followed the player out.

He will deal with her. Later.

"Seeker: Thanatos Heggerhorse. Hidden: Blair Dylan. Objective completed. Return to Save Point."
________________________________________________

Blood stained Skye's hands as she held the part of her abdomen where Robert had stabbed her with an icicle. She's been stabbed a fairly enough times for her to know that Robert was off by a hair from any of her vitals. Still, she was bleeding quite hard and judging by the state of the Middle Deck, it's bound to shut down.

She coughed and turned, her attention on the stuttering Hidden was obviously diverted to Robert and the Octobot that now seemed to be after her. Maker's panicking. She smirked even as she wiped off the blood trailing from her lip. That didn't do much because of the material of the suit. She wanted to play with the Hidden a bit, specially because he immediately showed signs of weakness but something in her seemed to click.

The Maker is panicking!

Now the game is even. Maker himself probably feels the fear of things beyond his control.

Skye delighted in this more than her rage at Robert for stabbing her from behind and more than her interest in the lone Hidden. Something in her wanted to bring Maker down with the game and another side of her wanted the game to last. This was probably the shortest Stage ever.

She lit her free arm on fire again and formed with her flames a long fiery appendage to fight the boss with. She hit it squarely on its body and it thrashed in retaliation, shooting with lasers at her. She managed to dodge but was considerably slower than before.

Skye charged fire in her hands again as the Octobot charged. the explosion that followed shook the entire ship, damaging the oxygen supply of the Middle Deck.

"WARNING! MIDDLE DECK IS UNDER ATTACK! COMMENCING EMERGENCY OXYGEN SHUTDOWN!"
Perhaps by luck, Skye managed to get her helmet on as the countdown for the deactivation of the oxygen supply rang. She unleashed a barrage of fire attacks on the Octobot again when it charged. She used the remnants of oxygen around to fuel her flames causing it to shoot the Octobot in quick successions. To her surprise, the Octobot fought back with missiles.

Has the Maker gone flipping mental? At this rate, even Maker's precious Twister Boy could die!

"WARNING! ALL PLAYERS REPORT TO SAVE POINT IMMEDIATELY! PROCEED TO COMMAND CENTER WITH OR WITHOUT YOUR CORRESPONDING PLAYER! ALL PLAYERS MUST REPORT TO THE SAVE POINT!"
It seems some of the monster-bots were repairing the floor from whence Robert came through. They were planning to isolate the Middle Deck. Skye hauled another great ball of fire and threw it right at the Boss. Coughing more blood, she boosted herself with flames toward the elevators-

Anthony had scrambled back on his feet the moment Robert reprimanded him. He hoisted up his suit back in place and zipped it closed. He was flushed from his embarrassing position but he responded quickly to Robert's instruction. They were distracted for a moment when the Bot announced two more pairs all of a sudden.

"He'll be fine, Winter. Rob knows what he's doing." That was Anthony's lame attempt at restoring his dignity before her. He didn't give up. "T-tayla, and-Anderson right? Don't lose sight of each other-"

"Robert said Save Point!" Emile took over, seeing how hopelessly Anthony malfunctioned at the wrong moment. "Let's move! GO! Come on!" Emile patted Wolf on the shoulder once and nodded to Thane. He also gestured to the one who ran into Wolf.

Almost on instinct, Anthony grabbed Winter's hand again and ran for Save Point. The monster-bots swarmed again and the Seekers effectively fought them off, clearing a path for everyone. Another explosion shook most of them off their feet and the bot was announcing a special rule.

"Did it say-" Emile began and Anthony yelled back. "Yes! Save Point! Helmets, everyone!"

"Let's-keep-running-aaargh!" Emile said, swinging his katana in haphazard attacks to the robots.

Wolf dove out of the way. Too much was happening for him to react to it all, so he reacted to the biggest threat, the boss. He looked Rob dead in the eye, and gave a curt nod as he pulled his arm back into the suit and redid the pressure seals. "Alright, we need to get to save point, now." With all he needed to say out in the air, he began running to the save point. On his way he grumbled about not being able to find his Seeker, but being at the Save Point would be even better. Everyone should have been there, and he would be safe from any who tried to take him out. He made his way onto the bridge. It was odd, he seemed to feel so familiar with the layout of a ship, navigating his way with ease, even though he couldn't remember being on one until now.

Winter stumbles falling forward onto her hands and knees at Roberts "ice push" from behind, frowning she scowls at him about to scold him before a giant tentacle shoots through the floor right where she had been. Okay...Maybe I wont scold him...Her eyes go wide as she looks back at the tentacle that soon disappears back to the middle deck. Jeeze the Octobot was madddd, standing back up she steadies herself against the shaking and jerking of the ship. Seconds later the tentacles destroy the elevator she was just in, pulling it down to the depths. At the sudden crash and slam close behind her Winter quickly runs to Tony's side, deciding being anywhere near those elevators was not a good idea.

At Roberts "follow and I shoot" comment she sticks her tongue out at him from behind Tony childishly, jeeze that man was suicidal. Did he ever think that he wasnt alone? At more shuddering and shaking she looses her footing stumbling slightly into Tony's back. Quickly pulling back she blushes lightly.
"Ah sorry!" She quickly apologizes. Before she could comment more on Rob or Tony there was sudden warnings, at the oxygen warning she quickly puts her helmet back on, she hated the thought of suffocating. Right after she got done with that Tony suddenly took her hand half leading, half dragging her, at least for a time, toward the save point she assumed. Winter quickly follows after him a worried expression on her face.

In the process of the Seekers fighting the monsters a spiderbot lands on her shoulder, letting out a rather girly "eep!" she quickly brushes it off. Stomping on it as it falls to the floor in mid run. Not sure if she really did any damage to the insect like thing but it at least made her feel better. Ugh spiders gave her the creeps...Looking to Tony beside her her sapphire eyes look questioning.
"What about Robert? And the others below?" Her voice was worried and a bit breathless from running. While the bots were focused on the Seekers, their shots wernt always on the mark. As seen when a stray laser blast aimed for Emile hurdles toward Tony, seeing it coming she quickly shoves the blonde boy to the side the blast missing him by mere inches. But it hits her in her left shoulder, locking her jaw to keep from crying out she clutches her shoulder panting from the pain as blood start coating her fingers.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanatos blinked in surprise as the mechanical voice announced that he had found his Hidden-Blair. Frowning he looks around, seeing a new guy that had run into the burly mountain. Ah so this must be him...He holds out his hand toward Blair to help him up, giving him a excited smile.
"Awesome! Guess we just need to get to the save point now, ay?" Once the other man, or if the other man takes his hand and he hoists him up. Theres a sudden lurch and shake throughout the ship, a wall of ice pushes him from behind away from the elevators. The sudden impact causes Thane to stumble and fall forward landing right into Blair. Groaning irritably he quickly sorts himself out standing back up. Looking to Robert, the only other one capable of making ice. He was about to make a smartass remark but before he could a tentacle "pops" out of the floor less then 2 feet away from, showering him and Blair in debris. Raising his uninjured arm to block most of it he growls low. This was getting annoying, why the hell was there a overgrown Octopus on a spaceship anyway?!
At Robert's oh so joyful "follow and you die" comment Thane gives him a sarcastic grin.
"Fine but I'm gonna pay you back for that friendly push later, ice-brain." He teases lightly, holding out his hand once more for Blair if he hadnt already got up, after he helps him up he turns toward the others. Scowling at the warnings that blared through the ship, oxygen? What the? Not sure if that meant all levels or just the middle he shrugs before running after Tony and the others toward the save point. Slashing out with his katana at any monsters in his way, seeing one of the spiders he knocked away land on the blonde girl-Winter. Causing a highly entertaining action from her he cant help but chuckle, but his fun was short lived as a tank-type bot got in their way, unable to dodge in time a laser blast from it pierces his thigh. Sending him crashing to the ground with an audible curse, his leg quickly getting soaked in blood. Bloody hell that hurts! Seeing the bot about to blast him again in a last ditch effort he throws his katana like a javelin at the monster. Lucky it hits its mark, piercing through the "soft spot" of the bot and shutting it down with a few pops and sparks.
Tayla stared in horror as the monster leveled half the place. But she had her seeker. It was time to get out as fast as possible. Soon, Anthony was up on his feet and yelling orders, even as the blush on his face faded. Rob took off in the direction of the boss and the nasty glitch. Things were getting exciting. Taking a steadying breath, Tayla followed the others in their half panicked run for safety. She was more than done with this level. Remembering her speed, she pumped her legs faster until she was near the front of the group. Without hesitation, she grabbed her seeker, Liam, and pulled him along with her. He slowed her down, but that was a risk she was prepared to deal with.
He noticed how a sudden "hero" appeared, who looked quite "dashing?". However, he fell down, due to the shakin the room. This man was apparently fighting against the psycho woman. He decided to make a run for it, and make it out the engineering room. The path was covered in ice, making it easier for him because of the man, who apparently came to his rescue. "Thanks man..." He uttered, before rolling on the floor, making sure he wasn't in their line of fire. He slided through the ice path which made it easy for him. He made it out the engineering room and used the momentum to stand up and start running. The entire deck was about to get crushed and he had no idea what he was doing. He ran and ran, as he looked over his shoulders, noticing the hero still there. "This is bullshit!" Dante shouted, wondering how he ended up here.
He reached one of the elevators and noted how the oxygen was gonna disappear. Yes, this deck was screwed. He looked behind him once again and noticed Rob there. Luckily, or somehow, he managed to escape the menace behind by the engineering room. This looked like a nightmare in his eyes, but deep down he knew his life was in danger, and that he needed to get out. "So what the hell now??" He asked, wondering where to next. Inside the elevator? Was that the right choice? Was this the only deck or was every floor in this ship screwed? Was this ENTIRE SHIP SCREWED? WAS IT? "IS IT SCREWED?.. ARE WE SCREWED?" He asked in a panicked voice.
A low whistle passed through Kyth's lips as he watched, from around the corner, that metal tentacle rip up through the floor and disappeared again. All hell was still breaking out in the deck below, apparently. One thing was certain, this game sure the hell got the adrenaline pumping. Still, it was annoying that someone should create a game like this and not have all the damned bugs worked out. He was half tempted to try and file a sarcastic little bug report through the info-bot.
That idea was forgotten a moment later as he noticed Robert making the nifty path of ice. Awww, that wasn't fair, he wanted nifty ice powers too. Oh well, he wasn't a seeker and if he wanted such a power he'd have to kill a seeker that had it. Eh, that would take far too much effort and Kyth didn't feel like being responsible for murdering two people just to get a nifty ability. Then the ice ramp maker vanished down to the mid deck. Silently he wished the man good luck.
Just as he was about to finally stroll right into the hall from around the safety of his little corner, the entire ship was rocked by another explosion. This was followed by two rather urgent sounding warnings to which he responded with, "Shit!" and scrambled to put the helmet on as the seekers with the big group burst into action to clear the swarming bots that were between them and their destination. At his point he really had nothing to lose. Everyone had been ordered to go to the save point and so he threw caution to the wind. A moment later he was darting down the hall, jumping over wrecked robots. The only thing that would slow him down now was if the seekers stopped or, of course, an unforeseen accident.
Robert growled as he ran forward, faster than he thought he was capable of. The kid, Dante?, ran faster than humanly possible before realizing that was what he wanted. The blaring sound of the warning made me curse under his breath. Maker was making moves that was going to get him killed!
"Why the hell did you stop?!" he yelled at the kid, as he pulled on his helmet and motioned for the other to do the same. He grabbed the other as his hysterics was getting annoying. "Shut up, brat!" he roared as he pushed Dante up the ice path he created. Realizing after the other slipped back down that, only he could run up that without sliding because he had control over ice.
Growling at his stupid time consuming mistake, Rob pulled his arm up along with raising his foot inches off the ground and stomped hard, the ice path crackled and viola! Stairs. "Run up now, you fool!" he instructed, taking a look back and influx of data suddenly washed over him and felt dizzy.
He hissed in the sensation and paled slightly. The Glitch was on her way. Dashing up quickly, glad to have the Hidden he saved had wisely chosen speed. "Faster, Dante!" he cried, running behind the other. "Use your speed fool! Run towards the Save Point at the end of the hall! Don't stop running. Whatever you do, just DON'T stop running!"
He glanced back down and saw the Glitch there. With a wave of data influx, Robert was suddenly stunned but he didn't hesitate to throw icicle's at the other as he ran. In fact, the icicles and such were appearing without his guide, reacting at his panic.
The bot's voice rang through the entire ship. His eyes widened and gave an exhaled breath.
Players all accounted for.
Initiating Game Point LOCK DOWN in TMinus 120 seconds.
C://Player/Error:
Hidden Violette Biela Detected.
Hidden Violette Biela Located.
Save Point.
Violette! His Violette was in the Save Point! He narrowed his eyes as he ran up faster. He needed to get to his baby before anyone else!
He turned around suddenly and crushed the ice path he had created as he was safely near the edge of the Upper Deck, jumping with an oof! With no hesitation, he got up quickly and ran, ignoring the cyborgs around them.
He was not their priority right now.
As he ran, there was a sound slicing air and he nearly chocked. He knew what happened! He didn't have time to repair the tube that led the oxygen to his helmet, in that same instant, he froze it. The broken connection between the tubes.
He knew without a doubt who was behind him and he didn't stop to run even if he raised his left arm to check his oxygen status and he growled. He lost more than he thought. Bitch Glitch was a formidable opponent.
He knew she was just right behind him and as he saw the Save Point doors just a few feet a way, he fell to the ground as the ship shook so strongly that it made it tilt. There was a horrible screeching sound and he turned around and his eyes widened. The blasted Octobot followed them up!
"MAKER!" he roared as he rolled to the side quickly as it's tentacles lashed towards his prone form. He jumped up and hissed darkly as another tentacle was quick enough to lash at him. He screeched in pain as the stupid damn half life robot's poisonous tentacles met his leg and burned out his suit and towards his flesh.
The damn Boss has gone absolutely haywire! It wasn't really conscious of what it was doing anymore. It just knew it had to kill someone, destroy something. What ever Maker is doing is ruining the code embedded in the Monster's system and it's utterly confused.
Robert knew how it felt. Confusion. But this wasn't the time to think on it. He glanced around the Octobot and saw that it was busy with Skye. Their eyes met for a good few seconds before he ran.
His oxygen was low. His leg and his torso was melted through, he didn't get to the Save Point before the Code LOCK DOWN was issued, he was going to die in the next level. One he'd rather not be.
Dead.
He ran as fast as he usual did despite the raging pain. He could deal with pain. He always dealt pain. He could handle this. Wait. Why did he always deal with pain? He heard her screech and he knew that this was no time for introspect. He needed to get in those doors before they close.
He ran in and yelled to whoever was closest to the door to shut it! He turned around and his eyes widened.
His usual violet eyes -now white due to his ice- widened at he attempted to step back quickly.
But it was too late.
She was inside.
Shit.
WINTER! Anthony lost power in his throat again, all he managed was a mangled cry of fury and worry that mixed and broke his voice. He scooped her up, ignoring the panicked yells of Emile to "-Hurry the fuck up!". The sight reminded him of certain things but he shoved it all out of his mind. Right now matters most. Right now!
He didn't realize that he was running until he saw the doors of Save Point. He put her down and said, shaking. "Win-W-Winter, you're gonna be alright. We made it, see?" However, the Save Point didn't seem to be functioning. If the game is ending and this room was declared Save Point, then Winter should be healing by now.
"Players detected: Anthony Rushmore, Hidden. Winter, Hidden."
An alarm siren was blaring and the lights of the hall had turned red. It was an absolutely unnecessary thing to remind them of the urgency of the situation. It only made them panic more. Well, Emile, that is.
"Fucking damn it!" Emile yelled. "Almost there!"
"Player detected: Emile van Dyke, Seeker."
With a few more slicing and swiping, he had successfully tumbled into Save Point. His katana immediately retracted as it was deactivated. He stuffed it back on its holster on his leg and looked at Anthony who was unzipping his suit and prying his arm out and Winter, whose shoulder was bleeding. "Oh god-" He looked around and noticed the computers displaying what seemed to be a set of codes. Very familiar codes.
Anthony managed to un-suit his arm again. He touched Winter's wound with two fingers, letting it heal. Emile approached the computers and began typing. Anthony was too distracted to notice. "Are you alright now? I don't think the Save Point is registering us. It didn't even note that me and Emile are here together. I get to stay a bit." He tried to smile at her.
"Guys-this!" Emile was typing codes into the computer. Whatever he was saying was cut off by another announcement telling everyone to run to the Save Point again.
Thane, Wolf, Blair, Tayla, Liam and a Hidden they hadn't met were running in and at the distance, Anthony caught sight of Robert as well. But he was horrified. Behind Robert was an unmistakable woman with messy dark curls. Her hands here on fire.
"I"m actually getting somewhere." Emile said excitedly. He was breaking through the system, reading through the Maker's creation. He felt a smirk on his lips. Yes, he found his Hidden. Yes, technically they had won. But the game itself is bogus. He wasn't about to let it end while the other players are still in. As long as there's something that he can do, he will do it.
"Players detected: Wolf Wolters, Hidden. Thanatos Heggerhorse, Seeker. Blair Dylan, Hidden. Tayla Kent, Hidden. Liam Anderson, Seeker."
Skye's breathing was labored. She lost a lot of blood from Robert's attack and now the Octobot had detected the new objective of destroying her although it was supposed to be Robert's task. On the right condition, she could destroy the boss by herself but it wouldn't be entertaining at all that way. Although now she wished she had done it, being doomed to imminent death does that to people, glitch or not. She's not going to let Robert go just like that.
Her vision blurred, her aim was terrible. Her feeble flames hit nothing but stray robots, never reaching Robert. there has to be another option.
The Octobot was catching up fast.
"Players detected. Kyth, Hidden. Dante, Hidden."
She focused, charging her flames and blasting them straight at the icicles that Robert was shooting uncontrolled at her. She slowed some, melted the others but there were few that managed to wound her.
She followed Robert right up on Top Deck, using her flames to boost her. She was just in time to be able to block several icicles. Surprisingly, the Octobot wasn't able to follow. It seemed to turn the opposite direction and back to the hall. Skye didn't stay to watch it, however. She charged on.
"Player detected. Violette Biela, Hidden."
Her eyes widened. The baby was in Save Point! She must get to the baby before Robert does. It'll be all over if he gets her first! She crossed her arms in front of her and swiped them both to her sides, sending a very fast slice of air that severed cleanly the oxygen tube connected to Robert's helmet. He'll suffocate at this point.
All of a sudden, a blast not so far between Robert and Skye shook the whole ship and threw Skye a few feet back. She managed to land properly and skid to a halt. The Octobot had broken through the Top Deck and seemed to have attacked Robert by mistake. The Maker-omnipotent being controlling the game-making a mistake! Skye chuckled. This level is very much different from the past, she was sure. But she didn't care about it right now as she did before Violette was detected in Save Point.
"Violette?" Anthony looked around at the announcement of the bot. There was no baby around but somehow the name rung a bell.
"Fuck yeah, I hit gold!" Emile said, excited. "I think I unlocked something of the players!"
Anthony looked up at the screen, following Emile's gaze. It seems he was hacking straight into Maker's database. A player list came up, displaying the names and information of all twenty-four players. There were blanks in the records of Violette Biela and Robert Sinclaire.
Another blast from outside and Skye had gotten past the Octobot. It was covered in flames and she was visibly weakened from the attack. Robert was already close.
"Player data!" Emile cheered. "I think I dug up something Maker's desperately hiding!"
Skye was once again engulfed in flames as she boosted herself. She shot forward fast.
"ROBERT!" Anthony yelled, running to try to close the door as Robert stumbled in.
Skye got past and the door closed.
"Players detected. Robert Sinclaire, Seeker. Sophie Keating, Seeker."
"I got it, I got it!" Emile cried. "Our memories are-"
Anthony Rushmore
Anthony was staring rather blankly. He could see the road where he lost his parents from the rooftop. Oh it would be so easy to just jump off and get everything over with, isn't it? His grip on his guitar case tightened. His first big gig could have happened. His parents would have loved it. But now, they were simply gone. Where were his tears anyway? He should be mourning for his parents now. He should be hysterical. But there he was. Numb and cold. He turned away from the edge and was surprised to see a brown haired teen looking back at him. He was wearing pajamas and had a patient tag around his wrist. Anthony's eyes widened. The boy was pretty slender and pale. A ghost?
"What are you looking at?" The boy said, sounding annoyed.
"Oh, sorry." Anthony said hoarsely with a chuckle. "I got startled."
"Right." the boy said, walking to the bench and sitting down.
Anthony looked at him closely. The boy seemed to be pensive and sad. Anthony took a deep breath and sat on the opposite side of the bench. He began taking out his guitar. "Mind if I?" The boy gave a shrug for a reply.
Anthony strummed a few notes. "Any song you like?" He tried to make some conversation. The boy raised an eyebrow at him. "You want to play something I like?"
"May I?" Anthony said hopefully.
There was a ghost of a smirk on the boy's lips. "Capriccio diabolico." He said simply. "If you don't know it, don't play."
Anthony actually chuckled in spite of himself. Cheeky guy. "Tedesco's Omaggio a Paganini, hm? Challenge accepted, mate." Anthony began playing. The other boy turned to watch him. "Got a name?" Anthony asked, still playing as the boy gazed at his fingers intently.
"Robert. Sinclaire."
"I'm Anthony. Tony Rushmore."
Anthony stood at the same spot where he first met Robert. how long has it been since then? A year and a few months? He remembered the denial he was in that time, fresh from the wounds of his parents' accident. Meeting Rob was his first step to healing. From that day, he learned to face his emotions once again. He met a lovely couple who became his friends too: Emile the lovesick blue haired nurse with his snappy humor and deep philosophy and Sophie or "Mama Skye" whose sweet but stubborn demeanor put him on the right track. All three who encouraged him to live on and helped him find his music again.
He put down his guitar bag, taking a deep breath. It released in him some of the locked away and knotted feelings he had buried, blurring his eyes with tears.
On that day, Robert was declared legally dead and throughout his comatose, Tony hoped with all that he had that Robert would wake up.
He stepped on the edge.
On that same day, Sophie went into premature labor. The complications of her health made her delivery a gamble. Sadly, she lost their precious twins. Now she was locked in comatose, too.
He gazed at the city.
He was tired.
He fell.
A game? What?
I just want to see Rob again.
Rob and Em and Skye.
And Vi.
And if I could have seen them, Em and Skye's daughters.
No way. I'm not joining this game.
Emile/Sophie van Dyke
Emile bent on one knee, holding Sophie's hand as she breathed, "Oh my god, Em! For real?! Yes! I do!"
He couldn't help but laugh. "Let me finish, will you?"
She was stomping excitedly and was flapping her hand. "You're making my dream come true and you expect me to stand still! Hell no!"
He stood up and hugged her tightly, breathing in her sweet and zesty scent. "I love you, Skye." He said quietly. She kissed him in reply. "So, we planning the honeymoon yet? Because I have some crazy ideas."
They laughed. Yes, count on Sophie to make things go crazy.
_____________________________________________
The sound of the spoon dropping echoed in the room. "Em, babykins." Sophie gasped with a moan of pain.
Emile moved fast, buzzing for a nurse and holding Sophie's hand. She gripped it hard as her contractions got stronger. "It's!" she managed between difficult breaths.
"You'll be fine, babe. Breathe, come on, remember how I taught you? Quick pants." Emile remained as calm as he could. Preterm births was a little common among anemic women, that's all. It's not that big of a risk, they've been building up her iron. But her grip on him and her pained voice gave him a terrible feeling that things were going wrong.
The worst feeling followed after the few hours that felt like lifetimes full of panic and dread.
"The bloody fuck are you saying!" He yelled at his colleague, Skye's doctor. He paced and shook his head. "No. No, you're barmy. My wife is fine. My kids are fine."
"van Dyke, get a hold of yourself!" The doctor tried to speak sense to Emile but he was pacing pretty fast. He kicked one of the benches which hurt his foot a lot and made him shoot several more expletives.
"No!" He said stubbornly. "You're telling me." He was breathing hard with his hands in his pockets in an effort to control them. "My wife is in comatose and my children are dead. On the same day my patient is. Robert is."
Before the doctor could say anything, Emile turned on his heel and walked off.
"Hey. Hey! Where do you think you're going!"
Emile said nothing and was in his car in a matter of seconds. The elegant midnight-sapphire car he and Skye bought together. He wasn't thinking straight. In fact, he wasn't hinking at all. ll he knew is that it's imperative that he left right now. He doesn't want to even look at the hospital right now. He started his car and furiously sped off.
In a matter of hours, he was being collected from a total wreck, his mind sealed away in persistent vegetative state.
A game? Bollocks, I'm not going to play around.
I want Skye back.
I just want her back.
No. Over my dead body.
I'm already in this game? Whether I like it or not?
Well, I'm going to win.
I'll win and I'll be back to my husband.
I'll see him again. I'll hold our daughters close.
I'll see my honey and my dear again.
Yes, I shall win.
The First Game
STAGE 5
The beast roared its last and fell into a heap of blood, mud and fur on the ground. The seeker with a red cross on his cheek grinned at his handiwork. He had so much power from killing three of the twenty-five seekers.
"Boss Defeated, Seeker: Andrew David Smith, Victorious."
"Fuck yes." He fist-pumped. "Later, suckers."
"Wait!" Emile yelled as a bright light flashed and Andrew disappeared. "Info-bot! What happens to his Hidden now?"
"Corresponding Hidden of Boss Killer shall remain as Void Player with grey symbol. When a new Seeker joins, that player will be linked to the Void Player."
"Shit. Where the hell are Tony and Skye!"
STAGE 10
Tony and Emile were lucky to have found an oasis. It's been hours since their water supply ran out. Their food supply was replenished when they scavenged from what seemed to be an ambushed camp of Seekers. They must all have left quickly but there were signs of an attack, everything was scattered and there were certain items that were burnt. It was a clear night and they managed to pitch a tent. The monsters skittered about and the two simply ignored them, used to the noise.
"How long has it been?" Tony said, scribbling on the sand, munching on one of the fruits they stole.
"Since you took a bath?" Emile joked, washing his face at the spring.
"No." Tony said gravely. "Since the game started. It feels like ages since my mark turned grey."
"You had a selfish prick for a Seeker." Emile said, now drinking. "I'm sure there'll be another one. We've got a day left in this stage, right?"
"Less than twelve hours."
"So, a work day."
They were quiet for a while as they both looked up at the sky. "Info-bot," Tony said nervously. "Player status."
"Active Players: Nineteen of fifty. Active Hiddens: nine. Active Seekers: ten. Casualties: twenty six. Boss Kills: Five. Seeker and Hidden Victory: Zero. Void Players: One."
"Tough." Emile said. "And to your question, we can't be too sure. Time seems different in the games. But it sure felt like forever."
"Maybe it was."
STAGE 15
Robert's eyes and hair were silvery-white and the air around them was so bitingly cold that breathing felt like inhaling and exhaling double ended pins. His face was void of expression, his stance was void of life. His powers were too great that the remaining Seekers and Hiddens had to band together to defeat him or else they all met GAME OVER here for sure.
"Hidden folk, y'all gotta stay back, hear me?" Said a pretty Seeker.
"Oh god. What are we going to do." Skye said, near tears. "That's Rob. Our Rob! We can't hurt him."
"Don't mind if we do, then!" Said a Emile's burly Seeker who passed a javelin and a spear to Tony and Skye's lanky Hidden respectively.
"No!" Tony said, running after him and the three other Seekers who charged off. "Don't hurt Rob!"
"Hey, you three." Skye's Hidden stepped in front of Tony threateningly. You're either with us or against us.
"I'm not hurting Rob and I won't let you!" Tony bellowed, charging after the Seekers who attacked. Skye's Hidden went after him and Emile and Skye called Tony simultaneously. The two of them immediately went after him.
A brutal multi-way fight erupted between the Seekers, Hiddens and Robert. Anthony, Skye and Emile tried their best to fend off the attackers. Robert however, did not recognize friend or foe and continued fighting whoever throws him a hit or whoever gets past the icicles. And all this took place on a platform of ice that's thickest where Robert stood. Once or twice someone nearly fell.
"For victory!" Yelled Emile's Seeker, charging to Robert at a lapse in defense.
"NO!" Tony threw the spear with an accuracy honed in the game.
"NO TONY, STOP-" Emile tried to warn him, blocking out his Seeker in an attempt to stop the spear.
Wrong move, very wrong move. Everyone stopped in shock. There was silence except for the bot message. Even Robert had paused.
"Hidden: Emile van Dyke, Eliminated. Seeker: Louis Peters, Mission Failed."
"EMILE!" Skye screamed as Emile fell, the spear had gone straight through his chest and blood was splattered everywhere.
"Em...mile," Tony croaked weakly, shocked.
"Fuck no!" Emile's Seeker cried before he and Emile both pixelated and disappeared. Skye screamed and screamed, sobbing messily as all that's left of her husband is the blood on her hands.
"This is why our enemy is him!" Skye's Hidden pointed to Robert, still being attacked by the others. "And because Anthony's chosen a side, he's an enem-"
Without flinching, Skye held him by the shoulders and plunged her flaming fist into the boy's chest, ripping his heart out. Her eyes were wide open and crazed. Her lip was quivering. "Emile," she whispered.
"S-s-skye-" Tony said weakly, losing control of his knees and sliding onto the ice.
"Hidden: Manuel Gregorio, eliminated. Seeker: Sophie Keating, ERROR-"
Skye screamed again, blasting air and fire everywhere.
"What the fuck!" A Seeker said, trying to evade. The ice where she was is pretty thin and it cracked when she stumbled. Tony was still petrified where he sat. Someone tripped over him and fell straight to the edge. Tony scrambled to help but he was gone. He froze again, looking at the emptiness below.
For some reason, Robert wasn't moving either.
The next thing they knew, there was a loud and painfully long beep, not so different from that of a fax machine. The bot was stuttering over an incoherent message as Skye continued to rampage.
Then, everything was gone.
Robert Sinclaire
Uncle Mark and Aunt Natasha were screaming again. He blinked back his violet eyes from the drugged sleep he was placed under. They've been doing that a lot. Ever since he was diagnosed with some sort of cancer that attacked his nerves causing abnormal pain.
Robert heard them talking about something called Hidden. He fell asleep again and forgot that conversation entirely.
That was until he was old enough to understand that the game was being wrapped around him. But by that time, it was too late.
Robert met his new personal assistant nurse when he was 10. He had blue hair. That was what stood out the most about him. Not his easy going smile, not his amazing credentials or even his odd goofy laugh. It was his blue hair.
"That's against hospital policy" Robert told him, no nonsense in his voice. Though in his ten year old mind, that's the oddest coolest thing he's ever seen, but he's with his uncle. So he's on his best behavior.
But apparently, no one told this man that. "That's what everyone says, kid" the bluenette nurse tells him. "But I like the color blue and wanted to be different."
Robert's eyes widened at that and couldn't help the admiration seep out through his honest eyes. The nurse-in-training catches that and gives him a bright smile. "My names Emile van Dyke. We're going to be such great friends!"
Robert didn't doubt that.
Robert stomped over to the roof, escaping his blue haired nurse for scolding him for disappearing to the hospital pool. He was bitter when they told him he had to quit from the Swim Team but he understood why. That doesn't mean he liked it.
He stepped out, as silent as he usually was and paused by the door. A blonde. A true blonde, nothing like that bluenette nurse tells him. The blond seemed dejected, passive but how he keeps staring at the ledge seemed...disturbing. But he kept silent.
The blonde seemed to gather himself and turn around looked so surprised. Staring at him like he couldn't believe he was real. Robert narrowed his eyes, he got that sometimes with new patients. Staring and screaming about a ghost. He scoffed inwardly. He wasn't dead, just dying. There's a big difference.
"What are you looking at?" he said, annoyed.
"Oh, sorry." the blonde said hoarsely with a chuckle. "I got startled."
"Right." Robert scoffed, walking to the bench and sitting down. He huffed slightly, he was tired. The treatment he was on wasn't working and it was getting old too fast. Can't they just accept he was going to die?
He looked at the blonde as he sat down on the other side of the bench and took out his guitar? "Mind if I?" the blonde asked. He gave a shrug.
He strummed a few notes and turned to him. "Any song you like?" He asked. Robert raised an eyebrow at him. "You want to play something I like?"
"May I?" The Blonde asked hopefully.
Robert smirked slightly, well he's a willing victim. "Capriccio diabolico." He said simply. "If you don't know it, don't play."
The blonde actually chuckled in spite of himself. Robert rolled his eyes, yay, another weirdo. "Tedesco's Omaggio a Paganini, hm? Challenge accepted, mate." The other said with a slight familiar accent and began playing. Robert turned fully to watch him, slightly entranced. "Got a name?" The blonde asked, still playing as Robert stared at how he fully wielded the instruments.
"Robert. Sinclaire." he answered hesitantly. Why was he even doing this?
"I'm Anthony. Tony Rushmore."
Robert stared into Anthony's eyes and saw it. The same tired pained camaraderie.
He meets her oddly on the roof when he was 12. She was 18. They've seen each other multiple times before, but they've never interacted. But they had to now.
There was no escape on the roof.
Her name was Sophie Keating. Emile called her Skye. He called her Skye for her eyes, as blue and as true as the heavens above. So she became Skye.
He saw her fall in love with the strangest nurse on the planet. And it brought a small smile to his face. He saw them fall in love with each other. The strangest couple there ever was.
Their wedding was covered in all things blue. He liked blue, but he wasn't about to tell them that. He loved it. Their wedding.
He never made it to the reception, but that didn't matter to him. He was happy that they invited him into a part of their happiness. A forever he could never had.
Their wedding was the last time he was allowed out. But that was okay.
It had made him happy.
Robert meets little Violette Biela Sinclaire for the first time when he was 15. She was a precious little bundle, covered in soft violet blankets that matched her eyes. Eyes that they both shared.
She was blonde and Robert just knew that when she grows up, she'll be a little heart breaker with flocks of men following her around. It was just too bad he wasn't going to survive long enough to keep them far far away.
He introduces her to Emile, who fell inlove with her, followed by Tony who too fell into her little clutches and then there was Sophie--Skye. Skye who fell in love with my dear cousin and promised to never let her go and keep her happy and content, and above all, smiling
But amongst all of them, Robert knew that Violette or Vi [Vye] as she was nicknamed, loved him best. And a little part of him felt lightened.
It made him slightly wanting to live.
But even that wasn't enough.
Robert knew what he was doing was stupid. He was feeling better, yes, but feeling was did not mean getting better.
He really should have listened to Emile. He had swam a whole lap without feeling anything, but he felt the telltale signs of it coming. He shouldn't have pushed it.
He really shouldn't have pushed it. The pain shook his entire form as he attempted to swim to the other end. He gave a cry before finding himself choking on chlorinated water. He tried to control his limbs but the pain and suffocation was clouding his mind.
He heard a muffled yell, a lot of shuffling. He was detached from it all. He saw a flash of blue and there were a lot more yelling that followed.
He could hear everything around him. He couldn't see it well, his eyes were blurred but he could still hear, although that function was deteriorating quickly.
He could hear someone yell and he saw a familiar blue enter his blurred eyesight. There was a muffled whisper, "I'll be right back Ro--" he was cutting in and out of focus, "--check Skye! You're go---" another muffled sound, "---okay. You'll be okay."
Robert would have scoffed if he could.
Didn't he ever tell them never to lie?
He closed his eyes, just for a second. Then the heart monitor gave a resounding beep. Flat line.
Robert stared at an empty room. No, it wasn't even a room. It was black with no end. Curiously, there was no light, but he could see as clearly as if there was one.
"Robert" a voice called out to him. He turned and saw a familiar man stand in front of him. Information suddenly flood through his "mind" and without hesitation he spoke. "Maker" he greeted back.
The man nodded to him. "Do you know where you are?" The Maker asked. Robert looked around in confusion. "I..." he paused, uncertain, before information began to fill all the blanks in his mind. "...yes. We are awaiting the final list of players." he continued, meeting the man's dark eyes. "This is the waiting stage for Hidden. This is my room."
The Maker nodded, seemingly pleased. "Do you know who you are, Robert?" he asked.
Robert tilted his head. "I am Robert Sinclaire. I am Hidden's Twister. The game's keeper, to ensure it moves accordingly, create obstacles for the players who are seemingly winning and assist the players if necessary." he answered quickly. "I am your creation."
The man in front of him gave him a pained look. One he could not decipher. "...no, Robert. I am not your creator." he spoke. Robert was confused but said nothing. "Hidden is about to begin, Robert." The man continued. "Are you ready?" he asked.
Robert smirked slightly. "Yes, Maker." he answered. "Let's begin."
The First Game
STAGE 9
Robert gave a pissed growl at the Banshee as he pierced it with one of his icicles. He turned to the fallen blonde. "You damn better be grateful that I killed 2 other cryo-users, you useless boy!" he yelled even as he assisted him up. "If I hadn't you would have been killed!"
"R-Robert...?" the blond called out. Robert turned to him with a snarl. "Yes, yes. Robert Sinclaire at your service!" he drawled. "And didn't Maker warn on you that some monsters are now designed to attack hidden too, Player..." he paused, "...Anthony...?"
Robert paused. Why was that name so familiar?
"Yes! Robert, it's me! Tony!" Player Anthony cried in joy. "Robert! You're here too!" Robert raised a brow at him and snorted. "Of course." he said and began to walk away. "If you'll excuse me."
"Robert, please wait!" Player Anthony called out. "Robert!" Robert stopped then threw him a spare sword, feeling slightly better with giving the defenseless player a fair chance. "Now you're not entirely defenseless." he said to the other before leaving completely.
"Tony!" a voice called out to the blond that made Robert turned back slightly before walking away, leaving the blond in the strange bluenette player's capable hands.
There was something about the two that made them familiar. Robert threw away that thought. Violette was around here somewhere. His baby Violette.
STAGE 12
Robert knew the most formidable Seeker in the entire game. True, she wasn't as blood thirsty as the others. Or as skilled, savvy or sly, but there was another strength in her that made her different from all the other players. One he didn't really understand.
"Robert, dear?" her voice cracked slightly at the sight of him and he frowned. Why was she doing that?
Data concludes that should have tried to strike him down, not talk to him or weep.
"I am Robert, yes" he says, raising his gun. Her blue eyes showed hurt before she lowered her own. Robert's eyes narrowed at that.
"I'm not going to fight you, dear." she tells him softly.
He could hear the cars passing by behind him in the alley he followed her into. The stage was a city, and it was getting hard to find everyone, but he didn't need to search like everyone else. He simply needed to lurk and take out the players who were most likely going to reach stage 15 and win.
That was his instructions.
But something in her odd gentle demeanour made him lower his gun and walk away. "Dear." she called out again. "Robert, don't you know me?"
Robert turned around slightly and shrugged. "Data says you are Seeker Sophie Keating." he answered. She shook her head in sadness. "Skye. My name is Skye. You don't...remember me?" she asked.
Robert narrowed his eyes. Why were they playing twenty questions? "I know of you." he replies. Again, she shakes her head. "No. I mean, before the game, don't you remember me before this all happened?" she clarified.
He snarls. "I had no life before Hidden." he retorted. "I was created for Hidden. In essence, I do not exist." He turns around, intending to leave this time. Anger and frustration and a little confusion dwells in his mind. Why does her question sound so confusing to him?
"...you do exist" she whispers back. "You are my dear."
But Robert doesn't reply and simply leaves. Blasted players trying to confuse his existence. Hidden was his life. The Maker's word is law. Nothing more, nothing less.
Wolf no longer seemed to be in the Save Point with the many others that had mae their way there. He was someplace else. Someplace he seemed to recognize. He was leaned against a tree, a rifle in his hands. It felt familiar. Like he had carried this rifle with him through the thick of every imaginable situation that could bless God's holy earth. He looked down as he tugged at the bullet proof vest strapped to him so that it lay across the camoflauged fatigues. Various equipment was also attached to the vest. Additonal magazines, a couple of grenades, and a flashlight. He looked around at the dark and dense forest. His eyes piercing into the night. He soon heard a rustling in the undergrowth off to his far right. He raised his rifle at the potential threat. It seemed as if it were getting closer. Suddenly a deer burst through. He jumped up where he sat, startled, but than relaxed. He eased back into his spot and relaxed. In the deep hours of the night, his eyes grew wary, and he fell asleep.
He was woken by the sounds of gunshots and screaming. Rosey fingers filtered through the treetops. He had fallen asleep on watch! He silently cursed himself as he ran through the woods. He ran as fast as he could back to the camp. They had found them! The gunshots continued as he jumped over a fallen and rotting log. He pushed past some branches and accidently busrt out into the clearing that his unit's camp was in. They were everywhere. Men in Russian uniforms, and the bodies of the fellow soldiers of his unit. He dropped his rifle and fell to his knees. They had routed them, and it was all his fault. Wolf was not one to cry, but tears welled up in his eyes. These people were his brothers and sisters, and he let them be killed. One of the uniformed Russians noticed him. He looked Wolf right in the eye, raised his rifle, and fired. The round impacted him somewhere. Wofl couldn't tell where. He felt his forehead, and it felt moist. He looked at his hand and saw blood on his fingertips. His vision started to blur and then turned to black. The last thing he felt, was his face hitting the hard dirt of the forest floor.
He was suddenly elsewhere again. He was back in the Save Pointwith the other players. Back in the retched game that kept im here. Suddenly the memories of everyone else flooded into his mind. Not their whole life's, but a single piece. All with a common theme. They all explained how these people where put into a coma. Confused, he yelled to the others in the room, "Was zum Teufel war das?!" He looked around, realizing no one understood him. He yelled again, "Well, what the Hell was that? huh?"
All hell was breaking loose, but Kyth made it into the Save Point. Oddly he looked... thrilled with the sheer chaos that had led up to this point. Even as a rather crazy looking woman managed to get through the doors before they closed. Before he could ponder the consequences that could entail, someone had cried out 'I got it, I got it! Our memories are--"
Kyth Durant
Life had been fairly good for Kyth. He had always been pretty damned good at getting what he wanted. For the most part he did so through legal means. However, he was not above entering places and 'borrowing' things he wanted but couldn't readily get his hands on in a proper manner. Some of these not so legally obtained items were promptly sold for a tidy profit in what could be considered rather shady dealings. Kyth didn't worry over such minor details, as long as he profited.
Lounging in a rather comfortable chair, Kyth grinned as his 'customer' examined the various pieces of high quality jewlery laid out before him. All of which had been aquired from a rather luxurious house whose occupants had just happened to be on vacation, "Quality stuff there, right? And all yours for the price we agreed upon before this meeting, Garrett," of course the name wasn't the man's real name. Both were using alias as they always did during such transactions.
Garrett' glanced up at Kyth as he set down a golden necklace, "Quality stuff indeed, Steve," offering a half smirk with those words, "Though, I'm afraid the price we agreed upon has... changed."
Those words caused Kyth to scowl, "I will have the price we negotiated or you will leave here with nothing and I will find another buyer."
The smirk grew a more upon Garrett's face, "I think not, Steve. I shall be leaving here with the goods," tilting his head slightly to one side, "Think of it as a generous donation to a valued customer."
Annoyance danced across Kyth's features as he rose from his chair suddenly, "That's not how this works, Garrett, and you damned well know it!" With those words uttered in angry tones, he made as if to begin putting the jewlery away.
Every thing happened so fast in that moment. Garrett shifted in his chair, right hand rising with a 9mm, equipped with a silencer, in its grasp. Kyth's eyes widened in surprise. Then the gun fired. Pain exploded in Kyth's skull and he staggered back to slump back down on his chair, the look of shock still holding sway over his features.
Garrett was saying something, but he couldn't seem to hear the words. In fact the only thing he could seem to manage was to stare stupidly at the man who was now shoving the pile of jewlery back into the briefcase Kyth had brought them in. Hefting the briefcase in one hand Garrett grinned at him, turned, and left. Then darkness...
A little later Kyth was walking down the street, he couldn't understand why he seemed to be suffering from tunnel vision. He couldn't understand why people were gawking at him either. In return he grinned and waved at them, or at least assumed he did. Man he was tired, what had he done that had worn him out so much? Well, he could take a nap once he reached the hotel room he was currently staying at. Huh, why did everyone seem to be talking, but saying absolutely nothing? Why did they keep looking at him so strangely? His last thought, before darkness claimed him once more, was to wonder just why he was suddenly face first on the ground.
------------------------------------------
Do I want to play a game? Really?
What the hell do I have to lose at this point..?
If I win, I live...
If I win, I can hunt that bastard down...
Oh hell yes, Garrett will pay with his damned life.
