I guess introductions are always hard for people. You never know the audience your greeting panders towards. Should you be jumpy and excitable? Stern, serious and articulated? Plain?
It's anyone's guess. No, seriously: a greeting shouldn't have to target a demographic -- but you also don't have to make it so open-ended that anyone can digest it.
You just say hello. Basically, or extraordinarily. First impressions might not be everything, but they're a clean indication of what you're like, in my opinion.
