Tip!
Focus on your character, a lot, like a whole lot. Why is this character what this character is? How did the character become so? What happened to justify what this character is? Set a very clear background and collection of experiences for someone to arrive at the current point they are at. From then on it is a matter of playing a role, much like acting, think really hard about how the character would react to events, to people and make sure this is consistent with the character itself.
