Headphone Jack (HDJ) is an RP about a country that has outlawed music. Some of the world was vaguely outlined by the GM, but most content is player-driven. In this thread, HDJ members can post their own wiki entries of notable things in order to maintain continuity in this ever-expending, player-driven world.
It is mainly used for characters' workplaces for shared settings, but do not let this limit your imagination! You can add anything you think other players might use in their rp posts! =]

Rules

- Only people with accepted characters in the HDJ RP may post here

- Posts here must not directly contradict the mythos laid out in The Extended Information posts. [spoili]
To ease some anxiety, almost nothing will directly conflict with the Extended Info unless your contribution directly references something that was also in the introductory lore post.

Example 1:
You noted in the introductory lore that what clefs do is pretty vague, so you want to make a new division in the clef department specifically for traffic tickets.

Clef departments aren't mentioned at all in the introductory lore, so you're fine without even reading the Extended Info posts about clefs. But if you wanted to make sure, you could go to the clef post in Extended Info and see that, hm, there's only one division listed! You're good to go. Time to make your traffic division of Clefs! No GM-permission needed!

Example 2:
You want to make the place the DJ was invented.

The DJ is a plot-centric device and it's mentioned in the introductory lore that nobody knows where it is (currently). To be on the safe side, you should probably see if there's any info on the DJ in the Extended lore. But if you go there, it pretty much says the same thing the introductory lore did: it's mysterious, it's a neurotoxin, nobody knows where it is.
This sounds like a situation where it's left intentionally vague for players to insert what they want (spoiler alert: it 100% is). As long as your location isn't currently where the DJ is located, you're good to go.

HOWEVER, what if you really really want to make the invention place also the current place for the DJ? You totally can, you just need to run the idea by the GM first before you post it here.
In fact, you can even make a character who currently holds the DJ- just run your idea by the GM first to make sure it's ok.
[/spoili]
When in doubt, or if you think something conflicts but you want to create it anyway, PM @Vardoger or @Chatoyante first. We can probably still make it work!

- Please also note that, while not a huge issue at the moment, as the RP gets longer and more entries get added to the wiki, you will have to make sure your ideas don't directly conflict with other wiki entries as well.

- Only post wiki entries in this thread. For everything else (including comments on wiki entries), use the OOC Chat.

- If your wiki entry immediately affects players/characters in the RP, please consider tagging those affected with a link to the entry in the OOC Chat.

- One term per post, unless the terms are directly connected. [spoili]Each term having its own post makes them easier to link in the glossary.[/spoili]

- Posts here must contain the name of the thing first, and then a description of that thing for other players to reference throughout the RP.

Musica Central Library

Located in the middle of Musica's capital city O Town, Musica Central is the largest of the country's many libraries. A stately building with huge columns and steep stone entrance stairs, the library is reminiscent of ancient roman architecture. Inside, in addition to the many sections and three floors, are conference rooms of varied sizes where presentations often take place.

Schools frequently take field trips here, professionals can browse historical references and legal documents, native Musicians can trace their family tree, and more. This is in addition, of course, to the massive selection of fiction books.

Rye, leader of the NuMetals, works here.

Something like this, but with some steps in the front.

NuMetal HQ

An abandoned metal storehouse in the middle of nowhere. It took approximately two hours to get to from Musica Central Library when biking quickly off-road and taking many shortcuts.

The building had been set up for a massive empty area to the far left, where most people usually hung out in chairs, couches, bean bags, at some tables, and/or with just miscellaneous stuff strewn about everywhere - typical of any sort of teen hangout, really. Everything then turned to several metal shelves which stored much of NuMetal's product: various small instruments, tons of electronics and associated accessories, harddrives, and the like. Many of the shelves were empty or nearly so, making it painfully obvious the inventory was running low and Ryan needed to get his act together to organize another jack soon.

The far right, where Ryan (the current Nu Leader)'s office was, had a bunch of file cabinets, makeshift lockers, cots, and walls made out of curtains. This was an area for people to "live" in a pinch. But the warehouse did not have running water, and hardly had steady electricity (there were several generators though) so not many people actually utilized the area to the far right.

The NuMetals were mobile, and the location of the warehouse would change every year or so. Because of this, everything inside was painfully temporary. Most of the inside structures were erected by members when they first take over the buildings, Rye's office being an example of such.

Rye always had an office. Sometimes he'd get fancy and put up soundproofing, but most of the time he just made sure it was located at the complete opposite side of the building from where all the action happened.

Inside might have a few leaks but nothing so great that there's moss growing on the floor.
Nus would patch up holes well enough with tarp or other materials in order to make the shelter habitable and safe to keep the product.

1 - Lydian chord - is the city center where culture thrives. Here, the governments body, ruled by the Metallica politic party, is concentrated. The Alto Square - a place where a lot of festivals and other celebrations in open air are held - also resides in the city center. Here you can also find the oldest buildings (some of them still used for living) in the city alongside courts, churches, libraries, theaters, museums, galleries, restaurants etc. The main Clef base is also located in this territory as well as the Tenuto university - the best one in this country.

2 - Tristan chord - is a gorgeous and full of greenery extension of the city’s center, but more concentrated on the commercial activities, like shopping centers, offices, cafes, restaurants, theaters and so on. It is mostly know for its Boulevard of Broken Dreams which goes through the whole chord, passing through the biggest shops and other attractions hidden behind beautiful flora.

3 - Magic chord - another commercial district is located here, though this one mainly co-operates with the harbors industry. This chord has the biggest variety of shops and offices as its scenery and price-range varies drastically as it moves away from the harbor and towards the Dream chord.

4 - Mystic chord - the industrial district exploiting the close contact with the sea. As this shore doesn't have any sandy beaches or other kinds of attractions it is mainly used as a harbor for transportation and water based factories. Since the Musica's borders are so strict, the harbor is often used as a mean to transport and communicate with other countries. It's also the perfect spot fro Jacks.

5 - Elektra chord - industrial district supplying electricity and other services to residential districts and the city centre.

6 - Dream chord - high class living area made up of enormous mansions with their own private gardens. Only the richest people can afford to live here. There are also some parts of the surrounding districts located here, though all of them are of high standard and extremely expensive. Because of this it's an incredibly wonderful place to live often associated with paradise for its fancy and well-kept looks.

7 - Farben chord - flourishing residential area for upper-middle class people, it has a lot of greenery and beautiful buildings. Mostly private houses can be found here with some parks, schools and fancy shops thrown into the mix.

8 - Tonic chord - middle class residential area with its own shops, studying facilities and buildings for entertainment. It mainly consists of old and boring apartment blocks. It also has a more run-down side where poorer people find a roof above their heads.

9 - Psalms chord - living district with three distinctive parts by the locals referred to as the 'Upper Psalms', 'Middle Psalms' and 'Lower Psalms'. Their names follow the trend of the people living there, for example the Upper Psalms is where the upper-middle class people reside as this part is nicer and more expensive, while the Lower Psalms is shabby and has the highest rate of crime in the city. There are local shops, schools and other typical buildings scattered around.

10 - Viennese chord - almost solely a huge living area, mostly taken up by the middle class, though it has its prettier and shabbier spots. It also has it's own educational and commercial buildings. At its very edge, there is a tiny (compared to the other two) abandoned industrial area, mostly mixed up with the living and commercial one. It used to host a humongous airport before the Mute Movement, however now that airport has been closed down leaving some clefs in charge of security of the perimeter and the unused planes. There are some rumors going around that the government has made some plans for this area, but they're only rumors.

Electronica HQ

rTxxq5X.png

Located under O-town Self Storage, which is a small indoor and outdoor storage business located on the northeastern edge of Magic chord. The property is owned by Lotario, while the business is ran by a separate group of unrelated people. Being close to the industrial Mystic chord, the surrounding businesses are spread out and some rarely occupied, especially into the evening. Despite the lack of traffic in the area, the storage property is gated and surveillance is 24/7. All official Electronica members are cleared for entering the building during after hours (6pm to 6am). Elecs have access to the gate code at the vehicle entrance (location shown by the arrows on map), as well as keys to the front desk and basement buildings areas. The storage units themselves are typically off limits to Electronica members, however, as some are legitimately rented out by the business's customers.

The Electronica HQ is split into two different sections, and both are located at the basement level.

The first part of the Electronica HQ is located below the front office through a small stairwell that is located at the back of the building. Except for the Elecs, this stairwell is off limits to customers, security, and the general storage staff. The layout of the basement mimics the layout of the 1st floor, with an open area to the front "left" of the building, and then five office rooms toward the back "right". This area is dedicated mostly to equipment storage (of the non-contraband kind) and office spaces for the current Elec members. This is where meetings are typically held or quiet work is completed. As shown on the map at the front "left" corner of the building, there is a basement level hallway. This hallway is kept locked and generally unobstructed.

The second part of the Electronica HQ is located beneath the indoor storage units and is covered in soundproof material. This underground location can be accessed either through the hallway mentioned before, or a locked elevator located within the indoor units building. The elevator is rarely used unless moving large items, however. This part of the building is where all of Electronica's contraband is stored. There is also a section of the building that is saved for any of the Elec members to relax while either listening or playing music without concern for the volume.

The Mean Bean

The Mean Bean is on the outskirts of the Lydian Chord, just west of the Viennese Chord, making it one of the closest cafes in the area that isn’t clef-centric. The sullen owner of the establishment, known as Mr Black, prefers the quiet and privacy of the lower-class crowd and as a result the joint has become a haven for students, office grunts and general loiterers with nowhere better to go. Such a varied clientele means that you can talk to people from all walks of life, and meet privately safe in the knowledge that nobody cares enough about your personal business to ask invasive questions- apart from perhaps the tenacious barista, Jett Coel.

The building itself was once an office block; as seen by the broad windows and granite worktop of what used to be the help desk in the lobby. Little has been done to alter the décor since that time, the stained carpet was replaced with wooden panels, the coffee maker was installed and a few frames of miscellaneous artwork that Mr Black picked up from the local charity shop were hung, but the overall effect is somehow homely and welcoming. As you enter the doorbell chimes and there are a collection of round tables and chairs backed with cushion scattered throughout the centre of the room, with several chocolate brown leather sofas lining the corners of the room. At the back of the room on the far left there is the worktop with bar stools lined up ready for you to sit and wait for your order if you wish. On the right hand wall there are two sets of doors; one leading to the toilets and one leading to the first floor, the latter of which sports a crudely drawn 'no entry' sign, and tucked away at the very back of he cafe are the doors to the elevator, that Jett has tried his best to hide using houseplants because it would look out of place in the otherwise cosy environment.

Lydian Ledgers & Tomes

Directly next to The Mean Bean coffee shop, it is smaller, but better decorated, than its neighbor. Once an office furniture store, it was converted to books and some small office supplies a little over 20 years ago. The owner and operator is Mark Evans, a 67 year old punk whose past-times include reading everything in his store, talking about life, learning what young people are up to these days, using sign language instead of talking to anyone who understands, reminiscing about his older days of political dissidence, keeping exotic plants, and, of course, talking to his plants.

The shop is about 70% reference books collecting dust because nobody seems to care about the past, 15% new and hip books that actually sell, 10% sitting areas that teens inevitably take up when the Mean Bean is too crowded for them, and 5% paper-based office supplies and miscellaneous, such as ledgers, post-it notes, index cards, journals, sketchbooks, etc.

The store's stated hours are 9 - 5, Monday through Saturday, but since it is only Mark who runs the store, he can randomly close or stay open whenever he wishes. So in reality, the hours can be quite random.

Everything except the new hip books is old and smells old. His cash register is an old-timey typewriter wannabe that dings every time the cash drawer opens. In the back, there's a set of stairs that are roped off with a handwritten sign saying "NO ADMITTANCE." Inevitably, people will run up there anyway, but it's just storage for stuff not currently on the shelves in the main area.
Next to the stairs is the back door, which is an exit to the dumpster that is shared with the Mean Bean.

All the furniture and fixtures are stained wood. There are cobwebs in the corners of the place, especially in the reference sections. Littered about the whole area are potted plants Mark has taken a likening to. The ones near the entrance are pretty normal looking leafy things like poison darts, zebras, spiders, and corns. But the further into the store you get, the more exotic and weird the plants become. Plants that definitely are not found anywhere in O Town and probably not even Musica. At the register, behind the counter, there is a pot on the ground that grows a tall, skinny tree with extremely odd looking purple fuzzballs on it. If anyone asks, he says it's a purple speckled pom pom.

On one of the side-counters is a small TV, no larger than 20". It's usually off, but sometimes, if the time is right, Mark can be found watching whatever's on. Lydian's Ledgers & Tomes is definitely the sort of place that should be filled with smokey haze and a smooth jazz soundtrack. Somehow, with these elements missing, it still makes an ok spot to chill for awhile. Cooler than the library, at least.

In 'n out

The In 'n Out is located two buildings down from the Mean Bean. Nothing is noteworthy about the place, just a typical generic convenience store where you can get your smokes, junk food, booze or a coke flavored slushie. You could also find a "rental vending machine" From new generation movies that been produced with no soundtrack and "remastered" editions of classics with the soundtracks stripped out.

The store is open 24/7 for ultimate convenience. The lead men for the night shift are Tobias Sean and Derrick Vosh on register duty. Their manager "Sin Yu has a bit of a reputation as being a generally well liked man by both customers and his employees. He treats them fairly inhumanly and will overlook certain "interests" his two cashiers have. But he would without hesitation snitch on them to the Celfs if it meant disassociation from them and their actions.
