Happily Ever After

Every story has a home in The Kingdom. It's never been called anything but The Kingdom, because in truth, it houses many subdivisions and minor nations within it. Every story has taken place there. Every fairytale was told their first. And in this Kingdom, there were many great queens and kings who had all come and gone - killed by evil stepmothers, wicked wishes, and the occasional trip into a deadly enchanted forest. The Kingdom had been a continual cycle of the oldest fairytales - a safe haven for those stories to go on and on, often changing and mutated as the centuries went on. And every time that a story ended, a new one started. And everybody lived happily ever after.

But then, the first deaths started. Little Bo Peep was found with her shepherdess staff shoved through her throat. Prince Charming was impaled with the edge of a glass slipper. And poor Ba-Ba Black Sheep found itself garnished with potatoes and roasted alive. The murders were proud of themselves. They were delighted to have finally ended these stories, once and for all. They called themselves 'Ever After'. They were a cult, seeking to end the stories of their friends and neighbors - fairy tales that were immortal and should not die at all. But Ever After ended all tales. Violently. Choking to death on a poison apple, or dancing in hot iron slippers. Villains, heros, and monsters all were subject to their cruelty and their malice. Even in the coldest stepmother's black heart was a special hate for the cult. A hatred that would not be stopped.

The End was fast approaching.

Basically, in this game, you play a fairy tale character! I would prefer if they were from a Grimm's Fairy Tale, or a Mother Goose nursery rhyme, but I'm fairly flexible in that regard. Your character can be slightly altered from the original interpretation of the tale (a good wicked stepmother, for instance, or a wicked Little Red Riding Hood) but should still be recognizable as the character from the story. Be sure to let me know what story you're from!

The basic story is such; You're campaigning to fight against the Ever After cult by whatever means necessary. Even if it means starting a revolution. You'll be helping your other fairytales along; the game is cooperative and not a competition. Your main enemy is the cult, and you should be prepared to work together, solve puzzles, and save your story!

Present Life:

I love this idea.
I wish I could join.
No time.
But.
KUDOS TO YOU.
YOU BRILLIANT MAN CREATURE.

May I reserve a spot in this RP? I'm too busy at the moment to fill out a character sheet.

Alright, getting started on my character sheet! Aaah, can't decide if I want to be the wolf from Red Riding Hood or Rapunzel...

GENERAL CHARACTER STATISTICS

Character Name: Wolf
Gender: Male
Species/Race: Some kind of Demon-Wolf, very likely to be a Hellhound
Age: Over 100 years old.
Story and Character Role: The Three Little Pigs and Red Riding Hood. Role was an antagonist.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS

General Appearance: His most usual form is that of a giant wolf (obviously). He is usually standing up on his hind legs, where he is about 8 feet tall. His fur is a very deep black, almost as if it was darkness itself. A very unsettling feature of his are his eyes, which are basically glowing red orbs. No pupils or irises. But now one of his eyes is just rough scar from his encounter with the Ever Afters. Inside his mouth are long and sharp white teeth that he seems to enjoy running his tongue over. He has grey claws on his paws, though they are usually concealed by his fur. When running or doing something that requires speed, he goes on all fours and runs like a traditional wolf. His second form is simply a dark ominous smoke-like cloud. It does not seem to be affected by physical forces, as someone can simply walk through it. This cloud-form moves very slowly, though weak-willed people get a sense of dread simply by looking at it. In his cloud-form, he can move through objects (such as going through walls) but he cannot attack or manipulate physical objects in anyway. He can still talk in this form, though it's noticeably quieter.
Strengths: Wolf possesses a large amount of strength and agility. He can fight by biting, lunging, charging, slashing, and other methods. He's also clever and sometimes uses wit to outsmart people. His cloud-form also allows him to move through objects or avoid being detected. As a wolf, he also has heightened senses. He can hear, smell, and see better than the average human. He also has the ability to mimic a person's voice, though it can only be done if he has heard the person speak at least 100 words.
Weaknesses: Very notable is his deathly fear of axes. (In fact, he's scared of all blades in general but the axe is the worst of them all.) Seeing axes make him freeze up in horror. He refuses to touch it and sometimes even look at it. Wolf has bad stamina, so he can lose breath quickly while running or doing any other strenuous activities. He is also not very skillful and flexible. In his cloud-form he has no way of attacking or manipulating physical objects, not to mention he moves very slowly. After returning from his cloud-form, he momentarily becomes dizzy and blinded. He possesses no magic, so someone with magic would have an advantage over him. He is also a poor fighter when it comes to ranged attacks, as his attacks specialize in melee and up-close range. He does not do well in fighting more than three people. He has a blind side on his right side, where he cannot see (though he can hear you and smell you as well).
More: A sort of black smoke seems to expel from his body. There are numerous times when while he's speaking, it will fall from his mouth or when he walks, it will seemingly manifest when his foot hits the ground. The nature of this black smoke is unknown, other than it seems to have no effect on people or Wolf whatsoever and vanishes within a few seconds of appearing.

MENTAL CHARACTERISTICS

Current Goal/Purpose: To find the Ever After cult and mercilessly kill each and everyone one of them.
Talents: Cunning, and good with riddles. Fast runner and strong strength. Good at hearing, smelling, and seeing things. Also good at infiltrating things (but if it's a rushed and quick job, than he's not so good).
Inabilities: His stamina is bad, so can't run for long distances. Not good with jokes unless they're pranks and they're on you.
Fears: He has a general fear of blades. He can stand next to one. It takes a lot to make him even tough or pick up one. However, he has a deathly fear of axes, to the point where looking at one will freeze him horror.
General Personality: Very brooding and almost-mysterious type. He sometimes speaks in a cryptid manner or simply will say riddles. He's surprisingly sophisticated. Sometimes he comes off as rude or with simply with a rude or dark sense of humor. He's confident in his abilities and hardly ever doubts himself.
Inner Personality: Sometimes when in the heat of combat or in an extreme situation, he acts more like a beast. His voice comes out as guttural and as growls. He is more aggressive and animal-like. He usually switches back to his normal state, but it might take a while.
Secret: He secretly yearns for people to not think right off the bat he's a mindless satanic hell-hound. He's got feelings too.

HISTORIC BACKGROUND

General History: Wolf was born purely to be an antagonist. He first debuted in The Three Little Pigs, huffing and puffing his way through the story. His most recent fairy tale has been Little Red Riding Hood where he tricked Little Red and her grandmother. It was this story that caused his horrible fear of axes and blades in general. In between those two, he's has appeared in other fairy tale mostly as a villainous wolf. Originally he was not as demonic as he is now, but still had an ominous air around him. In truth though, he is not as evil as some people see him as (though one could he's close). As time passed in The Kingdom, the other characters started to become less afraid of him and some even started to socialize with him, though not a whole lot.

Present Life: Wolf had encountered the Ever After, though he did not gain much information about them in the encounter. He was attacked by an unknown person wielding an ax. Wolf has barely scrambled and attempted to fight back when the ax swung straight at him. Sheer instinct forced him out of the way, but not before the attacker had taken his eye. After that, the attacker seemed to disappear, leaving no trace of evidence but the Wolf's now destroyed eye. He yearns to kill them and avenge his attack, though he curses himself for being scared of axes.

Alright, finally got my character sheet done. How's it?

GENERAL CHARACTER STATISTICS
Character Name: Jack
Gender: Male
Species/Race: Human
Age: 23
Story and Character Role: Jack and the Beanstalk / Jack the Giant Killer

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS
General Appearance:
Jack_and_the_Beanstalk_by_Ahvia.jpg

Strengths: Jack actually has very little physical skills, though he was a farmer. He is quick, and is a spectacular climber... he has the endurance to do a single task for hours, whether it is working in a field or climbing a tall beanstalk. He can also run - at least fast enough to outrun a giant.
Weaknesses: He's not actually supposed to be doing any fighting. He despises directly and lethally harming others... he will only ever take convoluted manners of killing someone, even if it would be so simple as taking an axe to them. He will defend himself nonlethally, but he prefers to use his axe to damage armor and destroy weapons... or the surroundings, in an effort to kill or trap an opponent without getting the blood on his hands directly.

MENTAL CHARACTERISTICS
Current Goal/Purpose:
Avenge his mother. There's a whole lot of cultists who are going to die.
Talents: Jack is clever, born with a silver tongue and ready to lie his way towards wherever he needs... he is also quite rich. While not a talent in itself, it does help him quite a bit when it comes to dealing with others. He is willing to do whatever it takes to succeed, even if it means, say... hiding in a giant's house, seducing his wife, stealing his treasures, and finally killing him.
Inabilities: Jack always looks for the dishonest or lazy way first. The straightforward way has never really been his style. He cuts corners, or lets others do things for him. Truth be told, while Jack is a protagonist, he's far from a hero.
Fears: While Jack's major fear is actually of dying, that is hardly a fear that is unique. Interestingly, Jack has very astute autophobia: he fears being alone more than anything in the world. As well, he fears being in the dark. To place Jack alone in the dark would likely break him: quickly.
General Personality: Cocky and prideful, with a good amount of bravery, Jack lives large and brings his wit to bear. He is not above insulting others - in fact, he likes doing so often. Mostly as a joke, as he's quick to stand down if he actually offends someone. Jack has a dangerous tongue, and even quicker hands... and he knows it. It should be noted that he's as quick with praise as he is with insults... After all, people like praise. He is a lot kinder to humanoid creatures than he is to monsters, but he's not about to insult and goad something that can obviously kill him.
Inner Personality: Lazy and calculating, Jack tries to manipulate events to his maximum benefit. He takes risks: after all, he took the magic beans... he can't resist a gamble, and he desires magical items as his own, claiming them as his own whenever possible. He is greedy and lustful, but he is equally loyal.
Secret: Jack has never fallen in love. For the most part, he doesn't believe it exists.

HISTORIC BACKGROUND
General History: Jack was a young man living with his widowed mother. Thier only source of income is a cow - when it stopped providing milk, Jack is sent to town to sell it. Along the way, a man approaches offering to buy the cow for several 'magic' beans. Perfectly willing to stop here, halfway to town... and curious about the magic beans, he takes the man up on his offer.

Jack's mother was not pleased, sending him to bed without dinner. In the middle of the night, the beans grow into a gigantic beanstalk. Jack climbs the bean stalk and arrives in a land high up in the sky where he follows a road to a house, which is the home of an giant. He enters the house and asks the giant's wife for food. She gives him food, but the giant returns and senses Jack.

Jack persuades the giantess to hide him and overhears the giant counting his money... Overcome with the need to help his mother (and a small amount of greed), he steals a bag of the giant's gold and escapes down the beanstalk.

Jack repeats his journey up the beanstalk two more times, each time he is helped by the increasingly suspicious wife of the giant and narrowly escapes with one of the giant's treasures. The second time he steals a hen which laid golden eggs and the third time a magical harp that played by itself. This time he is almost caught by the giant who follows him down the beanstalk. Jack calls his mother for an axe and chops the beanstalk down, killing the giant.

The end of the story has Jack and his mother living 'happily ever after' with their new riches...

Present Life:
Jack's mother was killed. Five years after thier riches, she was fed a bit of the beanstalk, which grew out of her: painfully, in front of Jack himself. While Jack had attempted to flee, he was found... while he defended himself with the chopping axe, he was not able to avenge his mother or escape... so he locked the house where he had grown up, and set it aflame, burning the cultists within. Though Jack mourns the loss of his mother, he also burns for further vengence. Searching the remains of the house for whatever tools needed... as well as some gold... he swears that the only "Ever After" for these cultists will end unhappily! (If he can claim thier gold and magic items as he goes, all the better.)

Both characters look fine. :)
I'll likely be playing the character The Robber Bridegroom from, well, The Robber Bridegroom, unless I think of something better. :)

WIP

GENERAL CHARACTER STATISTICS

Character Name:
Mister Fox
Gender:
Male
Species/Race:
Undead Human
Age:
Looks Twenty-some
Story and Character Role:
The Robber Bridegroom/Mister Fox/Antagonist/Protagonist
More: Mister Fox has two versions of his story; The Robber Bridegroom and Mister Fox. In the former, he's a bloodthirsty monster where in the second, he was a falsely accused bard. Though both versions exist, within the Kingdom, this particular version of himself is the benign one.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS

General Appearance:
Victorian+man.jpg
Strengths:
His charisma and intelligence get him by. He's considered by most people to be a likable, charming individual (until he tells them his name) and that helps him considerably in his travels. As a bard, he's quite knowledgeable about the world, and often uncovers things through his songs, such as old mythos and older versions of stories. He also usually gains comfort from telling tales, and can inspire confidence in others with them. Storytellers are often in demand in The Kingdom. He's not too terrible with a bow, however. He doesn't need to breath, eat, or sleep since his first death. He's not impervious to pain and dismemberment, but is invulnerable to death.
Weaknesses:
Any charisma he had evaporates when people hear his name. They equate that with the Robber Bridegroom, and know him to be a totally irredeemable monster. Thus, he is forced into using a good deal of false names. For the most part, his powers of persuasion lie in getting people to do things, not in getting people to believe things, especially when it comes to himself. Despite being intelligent, he is not very clever, and often requires the aid of others to trick his way out of situations. He has no capabilities in melee combat, preferring his bow. Being dead, he cannot partake in the pleasures of the flesh, cannot drink, and cannot eat - things that while useful, can be jarringly abnormal.

MENTAL CHARACTERISTICS

Current Goal/Purpose:
Destroy the Ever After Cult and Live Forever.
Talents:
Being a bard, he's gifted with the ability to tell stories and sing songs. He's handy with his bow too, and is considered by most to be a perfectly affable traveling companion. He can also perform some small magician tricks (not real magic, just tricks.) and is in every sense a performer.
Inabilities:
Fighting in tight spaces, or when he loses his voice. Without his voice and bow, he's largely powerless. He's great at getting himself in sticky situations, but not so good at getting himself out of those situations.
Fears:
Death, betrayal, foxes.
General Personality:
Debonair, charming, and likeable, he seems to be both intelligent and knowledgeable about the world. He goes out of his way to try to please other people, and is considered to be rather sweet, when first met. He acts very much like an affectionate English gentleman, wooing a sweetheart. He's quick to flatter, but is not naieve, and often enjoys telling stories about the world. However, he's rarely honest, even if he seems earnest. He doesn't come across as oily. mostly as just off, and far too quick to please.
Inner Personality:
Secret:
The Robber Bridegroom lives within him.

HISTORIC BACKGROUND

General History:
A miller wished to marry his daughter off, and so when a rich suitor (Mr Fox) appeared, he betrothed her to him. One day Mr Fox complained that the daughter never visited him, told her that he lived in the forest, and overrode her reluctance by telling her he would leave a trail of ashes so she could find his home. She filled her pockets with peas and lentils and marked the trail with them as she followed the ashes.
They led her to a dark and silent house. A bird in a cage called out to warn her that she entered a murderer's house. An old woman in a cellar kitchen told her that the people there would kill and eat her unless the old woman protected her and hid her behind a barrel. A band of robbers arrived with a young woman, and they killed her and prepared to eat her. When one chopped off a finger to get at the golden ring on it, the finger and ring flew through the air and landed in the bodice of the hiding woman. The old woman discouraged them from searching, because neither the finger nor the ring were likely to run away: they'd find it in the morning.
The old woman drugged the robbers' wine. As soon as they fell asleep, the two living women fled. Wind had blown the ashes away, but the peas and lentils had sprung up into seedlings: the two followed the path of plants and reached the young woman's home.
When the wedding day arrived and the guests were telling stories, the young woman said that she would tell a dream she had had, and told of her visit to the robbers' den, her bridegroom (Mr Fox) punctuating it with "My darling, you only dreamed this." -- or the robber punctuating with exclamations that it was not so in the Mr. Fox variant -- until she produced the finger of the dead girl and showed it to the company.
The robber bridegroom and all his band were put to death. However, Mr Fox is actually innocent, and the woman kills him with her story. The whole story she told had been a lie, and the finger she had produced had been her own, with her own engagement ring.
Mr Fox may have died for the first time that day, but since stories go on forever in the Kingdom, he was forced to continually relive that moment over and over. In some versions, he was guilty. In those times, Mr Fox went from being his usual pleasant and gentlemanly self to a monstrous and cruel man - who looked identical to Mr Fox, other than his slightly more jagged features and his more oily demeanor. They called him Mr Fox as well, though in truth, he was the guilty part of him, the part that had butchered those maidens. In private, before reverting or after, Mr Fox thought of this aspect of himself as The Robber. everyday that people wanted to here the version where he was put to death, he became The Robber, to validate his death. To punish himself. He did not change back to his normal self til it was requested that his old story, where he was innocent, was told. His story was briefly very famous, very popular. He performed his story for all of the notable young maidens - Snow White, Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, at their balls. every night, he died as Mr Fox, or the Robber, and he bowed with a hatchet through his gut.
He came to grips with the fact that he would never die. Though there had been many different maidens to play the part in his story, Mr Fox and the Robber
Present Life:

Hah, I had to actually look up the Robber Bridegroom tale.

Can't wait to start RPing :)

Hoping to get an IC up sometime this week!

This seems interesting. I would like to preserve a spot as well. I have a book full of Grimm's tales, and aesop's fables. I'm TEMPTED to do Faithful John, but. I might to the girl without hands. Dunno yet.

Oh Jesus, I remember reading about the girl with no hands. Very creepy, no doubt. Don't know a lot about Faithful John though. Gonna have look him up.

I'd love to join this. Gimme some time to write up my character?

Glad to see the interest! Please, go ahead and make your characters. :) I'll have the IC up at the end of the week, so...

I'm going to join, just because I miss RPing with you, my dear Kumquat. xD

I'm using the princess from The Raven, but making a few changes if that's all right.
