It's 2558, and humanity has triumphed over one of it's most testing of times. The Human-Covenant War is over with only a small fraction of fanatics holding tight to what's left of the "Great Journey" known as the Storm Covenant. Some time ago, we faced the forefront of an ancient, unknown race known as Forerunners and their Prometheans. Our first contact with them was in 2557 on a planet called Requiem; home and prison to a Forerunner menace called the Didact. Later beaten, we've calmed the waves of war for now. Until we discovered this...

A distress beacon on Venezia activated and alerted us at 0900 this morning. The beacon belongs to lost UNSC Frigate that crash landed six years ago just before the blackout across the neighboring colonies. Naval Command deployed SPARTAN-IIIs in SPI armor to scout the situation, and we received word of covenant and insurrectionist activity on the worlds; but they've sudddenly gone dark. No one's gone in or come out... It's been three months since we last heard from those SPARTANs. That's where you all come in.

The UNSC are in the dark about what's happening down there, so you're going in with two objectives. Primarily, recon. Secondly, demolition. You're being deployed to gather information on the threat down there. Find those missing SPARTANs if you can, and bring them back home. Once you've gathered enough information, report back it back, and from there your mission is to Search and Destroy.

Fireteam Aegis. You, SPARTAN-IVs; the new generation, have all been hand picked from your experiences throughout the years of service. You were chosen for this mission for the same reason you were chosen to be SPARTANs. Once your secondary objective is given the green light, you're not to let anything leave that planet unless it's UNSC. You turn it back, or you turn it to ash.

Do you get me, SPARTANs?

Move out!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PLOT:

Welcome to Fireteam Aegis, SPARTAN. You're now apart of the largest SPARTAN Splinter Team there is. You've been called upon to handle a wide-scale operation that has multiple threats on the horizon; consider it a torch and burn OP. However, not everything is as it seems in the dark of space. You've been trained to the best of your ability... But has it prepared you for this?

RULES:
  • All Iwaku rules apply here.
  • Graphic Content is permitted, but is limited to: cursing, blood and gore, and intense violence.
  • All UNSC weapons are available for requisition. All weapons will be show realistic performance, i.e. automatic weapons are just as accurate as precision weapons, and can score headshots. Your shields can only counter four shots to the head from non-ordinance weapons before dropping completely and leaving you vulnerable to an instant kill. Headshots from weapons such as the Sniper Rifle or Beam Rifle will instantly kill you with shields.
  • All equipment and armor will be available, and up to realistic standards such as; MARK-IV Armor, Mark-V(Old gen1), MARK-VI(gen1), Stun grenades, Flashbangs, Smoke grenades, Napalm grenades, Detonation charges, and SPI Armor. However, MARK-VII will not be included. Armor is NOT customizable piece-by-piece. All SPARTAN-IVs utilize full matching armor sets with custom colors and visors, not armor pieces. That is a canon issue...
  • You may have a loadout of two weapons with a balance. You must have one primary and one secondary. You may have an ordinance weapon, but ordinance weapons WILL count as two weapons. Should you discover weapons along in the RP, you are aloud to pick them up but may only carry two at a time; with the exception of carrying two ordinance weapons at once.
  • Armor Abilities and Foreruner weapons are OUT! The reason for this is because Armor Abilities are a multiplayer based function, as well as Forerunner weapons as loadouts. Meaning they are not particularly canon. Along with the events that have happened, neither foes have acquired Forerunner tech. Thrusters however are allowed, because they apart of MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor. Jet Packs will count as Equipment and may be discovered throughout the RP, also note that with this on you will not be able to make use of the magnet strip on the back of your armor with it equipped.

    [*]
You can have two characters maximum to play as.
    [*]
Do not God-mod or meta-game. While SPARTAN-IVs are generally as good as SPARTAN-IIs, you are not a killing machine. Your skill lies within your deadliest weapon, your mind. Use it, but be considerate and remember you are a human who can die.
    [*]
Enemies are controlled by the GM and will be set up through scenarios.
    [*]
Have fun. More rules are to come as the RP, progresses. Until then, enjoy your freedom.

Physical Appearance:

Personality and Traits:
  • Melvin is naturally brutal and tactical, making him an ideal asset in combat. He's described as charismatic and heroic, finding faith in the small things and inspiring those around him. His time as a Headhunter makes him "cooler" under pressure than he already is around non-SPARTANS, yet maintains adaptability and stoic focus. Hayden is noteably most effective when building teams, or leading them. While use to the responsibilities of leadership, his strongest trait is his drive to save his allies. He's even thrown himself in the way of danger to accomplish the safety of his teams, and luckily, succeeds every time. As a Headhunter, Trager didn't use MJOLNIR Armor but an advanced Semi-Powered Infiltration Armor. The limited armor forced it's user to be sharper than MJOLNIR outfitted SPARTANS due to it's lack in protection and ability.
Specialty:
  • Stealth, Recon, Sabotage, and Infiltration
Weapon(s):
Equipment:
History: Melvin was born on Earth, March 20, 2525 prior to the initial Battle of Harvest. Only a year old, his career military parents were called to fight at the front lines; where they perished in the glassing. The birth of the SPARTAN-III Program in 2531 would open new doors for the vengeful six year old as he was one of the first recruited into the initial SPARTAN-III group, Alpha Company, alongside notable SPARTAN-III's such as: Emile-A239, Carter-A259, and Jun-A266.

Alpha Company began training in 2536. Melvin, among other SPARTANS of Alpha Company, showed a uniqueness Lieutenant Kurt Ambrose believed excelled better than the other candidates. He was among those selected from Alpha Company, but instead of being placed in a new company; Kurt and MCPO Mendez deemed him worthy enough for active missions. At age 13, Melvin was deployed as a single unit equipped with advanced SPI Armor behind enemy lines of a small insurrection group on an un-mapped moon. Melvin was able to infiltrate and neutralize the enemy almost effortlessly, along with recovering valuable data on the covenant for the UNSC.

In 2545, age twenty, Melvin was brought aside and selected for the SPARTAN-III Spec Ops Team, the Headhunters, where he continued his campaign of vengeance against the Covenant forces brutally and tactically. Used as a single unit, he was virtually immune to failure. Soon the Covenant pushed through to Reach, and covert operations became seemingly obsolete. However much Ackerson and Colonel Holland recommended Melvin allow them to reassign him to a MJOLNIR equipped team, he declined. He noted that he'd spent too long working alone and didn't mind having a team by his side, saying he can work efficiently. But that he's usually taking risks and used to fighting alone, and didn't want to burden any team with his lone wolf attitude.

However, in August 2552, Melvin would no longer have a choice as he is ripped frm the Headhunters and deployed to the front equipped with MJOLNIR MK.V Armor. August 12, Melvin is deployed alongside the UNSC Army and Noble Team in a full-scale assault on the Viery Territory. Melvin was used to eliminate one of the spires while SPARTAN-B312 swiftly took out the other shortly after. Melvin retreated to the UNSC Grafton only to have it destroyed by a cloaked Covenant supercarrier. By luck, he survived and as recovered by a retreating squad of ODST.

He fought a long campaign on Reach until being one of the last few survivors on it's surface, August 30, along with SPARTAN-B312. Melvin stumbled upon the body of Noble Six after surviving a fight of his own; collapsing beside her. S-B312 and Melvin were recovered by an unknown UNSC Prowler housing ONI Operatives. The fate of B-312 is unknown, however, Melvin was luckily alive and spent months recuperating in a coma. After his recovery, he was placed into cryosleep until 2557.

Melvin was awoken some month's after the Didact's attack on New Phoenix. Jun-A266 new this signified a new threat, and called for SPARTAN-Iv's to improve themselves, and enlisted Melvin for his skill and benefits to SPARTAN-IVs as a whole. Upon induction, Melvin first served as a hand-to-hand combat instructor for new recruits. However some found it pointless to train with him on the account of his previous time as a SPARTAN-III and superior Augmentations. He'd then point out that being an S-III didn't matter so long as they tried hard enough; backing up his theory as he compared SPARTANs to Brutes, and how many they've killed simply by being skilled.

Early 2558, he was put under the SPARTAN-IV program and assigned to Fireteam Crimson as it's leader, equipped with Recruit class MJOLNIR GEN2 Armor, serving in the Requiem Campaign. After his flawless service aboard the UNSC Infinity and leadership with Fireteam Crimson, he was chosen among other SPARTANs to embark on a covert torch and burn operation on Venezia.

  • >/ COMMAND RETRIEVE AGENT ARCHIVE : PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION

  • >/ RETRIEVE COMMAND APPROVED, DIRECTOR, DISPLAYING AGENT STAUDINGER PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE
  • Agent Ansgar Staudinger, in some ways he is the model agent for most ONI Section I operations, and in other ways is better off with the SPARTAN-IV program. On the strong side, he is cold and brilliant. He does not concern himself with petty concepts such as 'morality' and 'the right thing to do'. Rather, he is focused solely on being able to see a job finished, regardless of cost or the severity of measures to be undertaken. He uses whatever tools are at hand, whether in the form of physical allies or equipment, in the best manner he sees fit to accomplish a mission. It is this intelligence that makes him such a dangerous force on the battlefield, as it is well and truly beyond the normal for even SPARTAN-IV operators and selectees. Coupled with a unwavering loyalty to the human race (And importantly, ONI),this is making him highly coveted by ONI, if it weren't for the other facets.
  • His off duty and overall demeanor are not helpful in the slightest towards professionalism, when he isn't talking about on the job work. While not having been a problem early career, Agent Staudinger is grossly pessimistic and depressive when it comes to Humanity in general, having participated in counter insurgent operations during the Human-Covenant war, when the rebels would still fight against UNSC forces even in the face of full scale invasion. Chronic drinking, while not having been a detriment to his performance on the job, is a moral hit for most operatives assigned with him. A distinct lack of regret and mercy for typical human populations has alienated him from most people, making him very challenged in team operations, without a good leader. This does give him a very unconcerned attitude of his life, not bothered since he had lived through the whole Human-Covenent war, which could make him useful as a last resort, suicide asset. Make note of this for future use. However, his request to join the SPARTAN-IV program is unclear, in intent, but approved until he either recovers, or falls in combat. The problem is solved either way.

  • >/ RETRIEVE COMMAND APPROVED, ADMIRAL, DISPLAYING AGENT STAUDINGER BACKGROUND INFORMATION
  • ...
  • Ansgar Staudinger was born on New Carthage, an inner colony world that would later be known for its numerous GEN2 varients on the MJOLNIR system built by Hannibal Weapon Systems, including the ubiquitous RECRUIT variant issued to most SPARTAN-IV members at some point in their careers. Both his parents worked for ONI, his father was a Section I operator while his mother was an active member of the Section Zero portion of ONI. While how his parents met is unclear, shortly after her pregnancy was confirmed, Ansgar's father was deployed on a recon mission to investigate Insurgent activities. He never returned, the Prowler he was deployed from reporting all contact loss and he was listed as MIA, to be eventually shifted to KIA by his mother shortly after Ansgar's birth. This raised quite a few questions, but no one could find any evidence of foul play so she was never charged formally. But the distrust in the Staudingers would start here, something eventual ONI Section 1 operative Ansgar Staudinger would know full well.
  • Growing up, Ansgar may as well have been an orphan. His mother provided the funds necessary to see him to private military schools while taking care of his other basic needs beyond this. He would receive various strange courses for a child, unaware that his mother was solely grooming her replacement, whether it was for herself or her missing husband was unclear. However, on his 18th birthday his mother personally saw to having him apply and be accepted by ONI, which indeed confirmed the idea that she was indeed grooming a personal heir. What she was unaware was that her son would rapidly root out her abuse of ONI resources in this goal and would eventually lead to her disappearance, as no one had ever truly trusted the Directer Staudinger. This left Ansgar with a choice, stay with ONI for better or worse, or move on. He chose to stay, to some surprise, and would finish his training and receive assignment to Section 1 as an active field agent. He would, ironically, succeed his mother's wishes as a successor to her lineage within the ONI operations, for a time.
  • Agent Staudinger would spend five years in direct operations against Insurgent forces while the SPARTAN-II program was in full swing still. He had a hand in identifying certain candidates and marking them for retrieval by assets more directly assigned to the SPARTAN-II program while on other missions. He would undermine Insurgent operations, from demolition work and IED vehicles to wiping information off their networks when found and stealing plans and information. He made a name for himself as a skilled agent that, if revealed to the public, would have to be executed for war crimes. Before that happened, in 2525, first contact with the Covenant occurred. Agent Staudinger was aboard his assigned Prowler, UNSC Reacher, and on the way to an Insurgent held planet when word of the attack hit. His talent as a field agent was retasked against known Covenant targets. He helped identify the stealth pylons that NOBLE team on Reach would strike against, although he never set foot on the planet before its fall, and his information gathering and hacking efforts into the Covenant systems were revolutionary, taking the work of others in deciphering the Covenant tech lingo and using it to data mine, gathering crucial bits of information that would aid in future battles of the Human-Covenant war.
  • Post war, Agent Staudinger had over 30 years of special operations work, and had nearly been broken mentally and physically constantly. The man had a break and did not want it, as it would allow him to reflect on his past. Instead, when they refused to send him out again for the sake of recuperating, he instead volunteered for the new SPARTAN-IV program. While his superiors initially did not intend to allow him to separate from ONI and enter a separate branch, it was clear that the man would be going whether they agreed or not. He was a perfect fit for the program, a long veteran of the Human-Covenant war that would rather keep fighting until he was dead and gone then retire and move on to a quiet life. The amount of time he spent in cryosleep between operations had drastically affected his aging process, giving him the unique opportunity to be able to actually succeed in the SPARTAN-IV program. So ONI authorized his transfer, in the hopes of having an inside source within the SPARTAN branch, and he underwent SPARTAN-IV Augmentation procedures, coming out as a success and he would be deployed in various lone wolf operations. He was a rare instance of a SPARTAN-IV that refused the MJOLNIR armor, preferring his personal customized SPI Mark II, a gift from his ONI allies after augmentation was a success. No one could argue the effectiveness of the agent in the armor, and he would do numerous black ops that are redacted, for security reasons.
