The shotgun blast completely obliterates the Elite's head, brain matter and bone flying into the air as Michael rushes past it and Light, able to shoot down one of the carbiners before the plasma pistols are all overcharged and fired at once, sending 5 homing green bulbs at him.

"SC...rtans...ear me....ase...spond" a crackly transmission had come into their helmets.

Meanwhile, Spartan Adam-095 and Ghost-327 had been dropped in a separate area from the others, to circle around and meet up with Team Alpha, Michael and Light. According to his HUD, they were only 100 metres directly ahead.

Light didn't waste time and swapped her shotgun for her battle rifle. She proceeded to lay round after round into the single carbiner. However, her thoughts were interrupted by a voice, amid her combative persona, she spoke into her mic. "This is Light-161... Who is this?"

Michael ducked behind cover, feeling the heat wash over him from the impacts on the other side. The cover started to melt, and he moved from it, a full thirty six rounds in his clip, he would fire at the Jackals. He hoped to get some of them to move to block his fire, giving Light an eaiser shot, and vice versa. He ignored the voices on COM until the threat was down.

"...Orest...vous...ance..." The voice came again. Either the radio they were using wasn't good, it was being scrambled, or perhaps Phantom Squad was not on the same channel as them. Either way, a flanking maneuver by two Spartans would of course overwhelm a line of jackals, the two carbiners being ripped apart by the sheer volume of BR55 firepower sent their way. One of them actually managed to shoot one of the shield-line in the back with its death throes.

The wounded Jackal turns and runs down the street, nearing a corner while the other four split off, two attacking each spartan with a hail of plasma fire.
[Michael: Shields 90% | BR55 = 15/36 +3 | M6S = 6/12 +2]

[Light: Shields 45% | BR55 = 21/36 +2 | M90(Shotgun) = 4/6 +20]

Adam-095's boots hit the ground, as the trees above him swayed in a light wind. He looked to his flank, and heard the boots of his partner hit dirt nearby. He made 'eye' contact and gave a quick nod of acknowledgment.

Taking in the land, he assessed his azimuth and continued directly ahead...

'Tracking.. 100 meters..' Ticked in his head. He saw his heads-up display and read the pings as they happened.

Taking a low stance, he swiftly progressed through the thick forestry toward his comrades. Ducking under branches, and vaulting over downed, moss-covered trees. Slowing periodically- raising his weapon to assess the situation, keeping an eye out for aerial and foot patrols. So far nothing... He continued on, closing in on the other members of his battle group ahead into the urban area.

"Light, take the ones shooting at me, I'll do the same," he promised, dropping to avoid a torrent of plasma. He knew that soon, the Jackal weapons would overheat, and that would be his oppurtunity.

Onve the fire let up so the Jackals could cool their pistols, Michael vaulted cover and charged, firing his BR all the way. When his rifle clicked empty, he dropped it, drew his pistol and shot while meleeing the enemy.

Ghost-327 landed softly, or has softly as someone of Spartan-II could land. 'Follow your teammate for once.' His consciousness said to him. Ghost was used to being a Lone Wolf, still new to working in a team even after so long. He kept an eye on his heads up display, to both keep an eye on where his teammate was and for anything that wanted to redecorate the grass with his insides. And he wanted to keep his innards as insides. Not being far behind, he followed Adam, keeping his DMR at the ready for incase something ambushed the two..

The meters pass by smoothly for beta team, no issues whatsoever. It's only when, 25 meters away from Michael and Light, in front of the building that human weapons were firing from, the motion tracker jumps alive. Two large groups of Covvies were closing in on either side of them. 10 Grunts, 5 Jackals and 3 Elites each. What was worse was two groups of hunters burst through the walls in-between the two groups of Spartans.

Just at that moment, Michael and Light finish off the Jackals, but spot something in the distance. A group of at least 15 brutes was closing in. This snag just got a whole lot bigger.

Group 1
10 Grunts (5 Plasma Pistol | 5 Needler)
5 Jackals (3 Shield+Plasma Pistol | 2 Beam Rifle)
3 Elites (2 Plasma Rifle | 1 Carbine)

Group 2
10 Grunts (5 Plasma Pistol | 5 Needler)
5 Jackals (3 Shield+Plasma Pistol | 2 Beam Rifle)
3 Elites (2 Plasma Rifle | 1 Carbine)

4 Hunters

15 Brutes (Unknown Weapons)
[Michael: Shields 95% | Battle Rifle (BR55) = 0/36 +3 {Dropped} | Silenced Pistol (M6C) = 0/12 +2]

[Light: Shields 55% | Battle Rifle (BR55) = 6/36 +2 | Shotgun (M90) = 10/12 +24]

[Adam: Shields 100% | Rocket Launcher (M41) = 2/2 +1 | Silenced SMG (M7S) = 48/48 +3]

[Ghost: Shields 100% | Sniper Rifle (SRS 99) = 4/4 +1 | DMR (M392) = 15/15 +3)

Light's response was quick, and upon command from her superior, she raised herself to a knee and sprang forward at the carbiners that were assaulting Michael. To save the consistency and rarity of ammo, she used her fists, her feet, and her sharp, armored joints. With diligence, she beat down the covenant before regrouping with Michael. She pumped her shotgun to clear the cartridge and then turned to face the ubrupt bursting.

"We've got trouble! Let's secure some of those Type 25 Grenade Launchers; they'll prove useful against those hunters!" She ran to the right of the group of brutes, then advanced, pumping round after round of her shotgun towards them. Upon emptying her clip, she dove into one of the buildings and started reloading, keeping her head down to avoid the strong beasts.

Michael went to retrive his Battle Rifle, reloading his pistol along the way. Once he scooped it up and reloaded, all hell broke loose. He quickly evaluated the situation.

"Beta Team," he said, seeing their markers appear on his HUD, "fall back into the building the human fire is coming from." He ordered. Then he turned to confront the Brutes, while Light flanked to one side, he flanked to the other, staying behind as much cover as he could and firing to keep the Brutes off of her.

Ghost immediately followed Michael's orders, running towards the building as told. Taking some pot shots at some of the covenant forces currently closing in with his DMR, only clipping two grunts and missing with two other shots. 'Damn it, wasted four bullets.' He scolded himself for having such a poor aim, he was usually better, but then again. He was always sitting still when zooming onto the heads of grunts or the occasional elite, and acting as the priest, introducing Mrs. Bullet to Mr. Alien Brain and uniting them in bloody matrimony. He turned and sped towards the building, doing his best to avoid being the one who instead gets his brain wed to a needle and spending the honeymoon all over the ground.

Just as Light dodges into a room to reload, one of the hunters fires it's assault cannon at the entrance, blowing Light off her feet and collapsing the doorway. The warning sound of no shields was loud in the Spartan's ears. "HELIOSKRILL, this is IRIS." The soft voice of the Phantom Squad's AI says through her comms. "A structural weakness has been detected on the second floor of the building. If you knock down the wall I am marking, you'd have a perfect area to shoot from... or, knowing you, dive out with shotgun blasting. Do be careful, Light."

At the same moment, Michael's shots stagger one brute, but he is unable to capitalize on the situation when a brute shot hits him directly on the chestplate, knocking him to the ground and leaving his form open to be peppered with spiker rounds. "Reaper, suggest taking cover or high ground. Being open in this situation carries a 3.3% chance of survival. So pick yourself up and get safe." Indeed, with a well-timed jump, he could get to either a 3rd floor balcony or the roof of a 3-story building.

IRIS is a smart AI, but that is not all. She was created using experimental technology to slow rampancy by 1000%, giving her a 'life expectancy' of 700 years. Her core is stationed inside the Phantom, but each Phantom Squad Spartan has an AI chip that connects them to the core. She is incredibly gifted at all aspects of battle, from analyzation to tactics to hacking. Her voice is soft and caring, like that of a mother speaking to her children.

"Beta, hit those Hunters if you can," he ordered as he rolled over and darted from the line of fire. He eyed a second story window, then jumped and boosted to crash through it, rolling as he hit. Once he was inside, he darted back and fired on the Brutes from a safe distance inside, allowing his shields to recharge.

Ghost took cover in the door frame of the Human building, wondering how to take down those hunters without wasting all of his bullets on the giant shield the pain in the ass-hunters had on their arm. Before he gained a light bulb. If he reached higher ground, he could clip their weak point, and should they look up to send a green gift of death his way. His teammates would have a clear shot on their backs. With that plan in mind, he went inside the Human Building.

[am not getting notifications for these for some reason]

Adam continues through the brush, and heard the familiar voice of Michael crackle over the comms.

Taking a knee while listening, he gave a quick reply. "Affirmative. Heading toward the human presence..." then thinking to himself- 'wherever that is... But I'm sure we're about to find out.'

He and Ghost both started running,.

The next transmission came through, asking for support with the hunters. The hulking forms burst through some walls between the two groups.

They were armor clad monsters to him, and their weak points lie in between those plates. Ghost placed himself in the doorway of the building they came up on. He could hear commotion above from the group of humans.

Adam could try to cloak and get in close to blast the hunters in the back with a well placed rocket... But that would be a waste if they encountered armor later on... Adam looked to Ghost- and radioed quickly as he bolted for a stairwell.

They seemed to know what the other was thinking. "I'll create a diversion for you, and turn them around." He knew Ghost wouldn't respond... But their team was coherent.

Inhaling quickly, Adam poured through the doorway and made an arc path toward the first hunter. That was he wasn't running straight forward. He saw the giant make a wide defensive stance, its shield hefted up in place and its weapon began to charge.

The beast was about to fire as the other Hunter took notice. He activated his cloak, and kept running to pass them both.

Ghost bolted up the stairwell until he got to a section that didn't have any humans nor weaknesses that could in turn, bring down the roof onto friendlies. Quickly taking position near a broken window was when he switched out his DMR for his Sniper Rifle, the rifle had many tally marks along the side with a smiley face on the scope and a frowny face on the muzzle break. Taking aim, he zoomed in on one of the hunters with it's back turned to him. He only fired once at it's exposed back, clearly not enough to kill it, but enough to make it get really angry. "C'mon, you big overgrown worm....Thing." He said in his mind, hoping his plan worked.

"You know me so well..." She smirked, her shield were down, this was true, but she hadn't gone through training off of stealth tactics nor weak intuitions. She planted her foot firmly on the cracked structure, forcing it to give way. She aimed her now loaded shotgun and began firing again, advancing on the brute force.

((Sorry all! For some reason was never told about Light's post. -_-))

Michael's flight was all but ignored when Light came bursting out of the wall, one spiker brute taken completely by surprise, and filled with shot, blown backwards dead. This made the other brutes turn to her, one swinging at her with a punch, just for her to dodge under it and jam the shotgun at the beast's head, spattering bone and brain matter everywhere. She was then wide open for a brute shot grenade, just for that one to fall to a trio of BR55 bursts to the head, killed by the final bullet.

One of the brutes goes berserk and charges Light, while another spins around and tosses a spike grenade into the window, landing right in front of Michael.

As should be expected, the sniper round severs quite a few connections of the hunter, but not killing it. It roared in pain, and fired its assault cannon at Ghost, the arc having it hit the wall beneath the window, which collapsed the floor, making Ghost fall to a lower level.

The hunters rumble as Adam gets closer, and as soon as the sniper rifle barked its bark, the wounded hunter's bond-brother made a blind swing that was going right for Adam's chest.

Somewhere...

< @Lord of Dragons >

The Baron of Yearning lay dormant, as it was awaiting orders when a report came in of some Spartans on a nearby planet. The planet used to hold a human population, and there were still remnant forces. The planet would have been glassed, but a forerunner artefact was found beneath the largest city, and efforts were being made to excavate it.

Michael rolled away from the relitivly small kill area of the Spike Gernade and broke out another window. As he thought and consulted his data, the situation looked intractable. Too many Covenant, too few of them. "Spartans, theres too many," he said evenly, pulling up a map of the area. He dropped a NAV marker on a building a short distance away. "I just uploaded a waypoint, disengage and head there, we'll avoid this force. Acknowledge."

While he waited for replies, he stood to fire down on the Brute horde.

As Ghost fell down a floor, his heavy weight nearly causing him to go down another floor. Brushing off dust, he took aim once more when he heard Michael's message. It started a slight internal conflict within himself for a bit. On one hand, saving the remaining humans could potentially give them a chance to learn about what was going on here. But then, they'd be overrun and most likely any info they learn would die with them. But leaving the remaining survivors to face the forces of the covenant would result in a slaughter on the survivor's behalf. 'Prioritize.' He thought. So, with that in mind, he ran back to where hopefully the survivors were holed up and went inside the room. Looking for someone who most likely knew about what was going on here before the battle ensued, like a scientist or someone similar...That is, if anyone was in the room he busted into...
