A slowly growing dread. With every passing moment, Benedicta wondered where she had gone wrong. Her eyes glazed over and she stared blankly into the general crowd before her, unable to properly cope with the string of absurdity prevailing many of these individual's personalities. A select few gave her hope, but for the time being, she dreaded the prospect of fighting alongside the others... the thought of rooming with them was far worse.

A vein nearly popped on her forehead, but she collected her thoughts and feelings, cooling off with a focused breath and closed eyes. Benedicta crossed her arms and sighed. Wasting time showing off was not what she wanted to do on a tour. Separated from her retainer, it would take her some extra time settling in and devising a proper schedule. She cleared her throat inconspicuously.

"Let's hurry along with the stick-waving then. If we have to try out every facility we come across, this will take longer than needed," she said flatly.

That was good. So Alice Aegis wasn't as broken as Esfir thought she'd be. Still lacking, but as long as the android can maintain that…attitude of hers, it wouldn't be a problem. Bringing out the ice to break was a punny joke, but it wasn't until Eunike corrected her that the blonde Knight realized that Alice was serious about breaking ice cubes.

Whatever. Still not a problem.

Pointedly ignoring whatever the hell was going on with this no-rank Rika and her supposed older sister, Esfir turned back to the android and her supposed caretaker, acknowledging her enthusiasm. Punching in the simplistic keycode, an air-conditioned draft blew outwards as Esfir stepped in, a few stray hairs tickling her face as she did so. Motioning for the rest of them to come in, she said, with a few gestures to a flat screen beside the transparent door, "The place is pretty outdated, so terrain variety isn't impressive at all. It's still connected to the ISDF's database, though, so you can just tap in your name, rank, and let it scan your body, before it registers you for a scenario."

"Honestly, Toro is better at explaining the mechanics of it, so if you have any questions, go talk to her. Yulia, Alice, I'll set the scenario to a threat level of 4, against well-armed terrorists. Your weaponry will be holographically generated, and there's not going to be any pain unless you run into each other, so keep that in mind."

"Just say <Link Start> when you're ready to begin,"
Esfir finished, done with pretty much all the settling stuff. With that, she walked out of the room once more, towards the hugging siblings.

"The personal rooms are five minutes away, down the hall, to the right. Go there, if you want to continue with your bonding."

She probably could have said more, but there was also the princess of a colony to think about. "The remainder of the tour," Esfir began, "consists of showing people where the medical bay and the deployment area is. Both those locations can be found on the map."

"You can leave for your quarters now, if you require extra time to get settled in the ISS Astrea."

Alice walked into the cool room as instructed by the Ensign. It was impressive as Alice had never been in a holograph room before. Aegis always had her use live rounds or blanks if the damage would be too severe. As such this would be a first time experience for her and she wondered how it would incorporate with her normal systems. When the Ensign mention that the room was outdated, Alice chuckled quietly. It made her feel more superior to the room as if she was competing to show which tech was better. She started entering her information into the room and watch it scanned her. "Ehh..." The temperature in her head rose causing her face to turn bright red. She covered her chest body as the light slowly crawled around her figure.

Alice was never comfortable when being scanned. There was always the fear of something being broken before Alice could detect it and attempt to repair it herself. When this happened her creators would have to shut her down or disable most of her features to repair the issue. This was a scary feeling for her because she knew that there was a chance of not waking up plus the lost of control of her body was absolutely terrifying in its self. The feeling of sending signals and having no response was absolute proof of being broken despite it being induced by the creators. This premature fear which formed in her early stages of development evolved into a feeling of embarrassment where her AI connected being scanned to being looked at naked. Normally she would trying and avoid things like this but in order to prove she was not broken, she endured it.

When it was over she her face returned to normal. She listened in to the instructions set by the Ensign. Hologram weapons which will not injured anyone. It made no sense at first but started to click after realizing her opponent would not be the other E-3 but the holograms themselves. Alice clapped her hands together, "Analysis of instructions complete. Ma'am, I have inquiries with the scenario. What is the acceptable tolerance for environmental damage? Are hostages located with holographic terrorist entity? Are we required to detain the treat alive? What level of force is... authorize?" The last question had a delay because of a pass memory. She got permission to use deadly force but she went overboard and nearly destroyed the training room. Since this was not a real environment, she debated whether to even ask the question but felt it was most approprate given her past experiences

Well... well, well, well...that was not exactly the kind of reaction Rika imagined her sister to have. In fact, the younger sister was actually surprised. Was her appearance THAT bad? Taking a step back Rika now asked, a bit more serious. "Aren't you supposed to go all 'Ohmahgoshrikaisthatreallyouquestionmarkthatssoawesomenowwecanbetogetherallthetimeanddosomuchawesomestuffhowdidyouevenenduphereyouhavetotellmeallthethingsyouknowwhatletshaveagirlysleepoverorsomethingandwhileimatiteveryoneelsecanjoitoo'...like that?" Well, whatever hunch of seriousness the white-haired girl had was easily overshadowed by her poorly, but intended, done Mina impression combined with wrapping her arms around herself in a fashion as if a certain someone would hug her. "Buuuut to make long story short, I worked with the ISDF for a long time until my talent was discovered and I became a guardian!" That wasn't entirely the truth but neither a lie. "And of course I didn't tell our silly parents! They would have only spoiled the surprise! Hmpf."

With all those words said, Rika paid little attention to the others around her right now. Sure, she made kind of a scene, but not like it would happen too often...and even if, ultimately she didn't even care. Luckily for her however was that Esfir was apparently more relaxed than Rika initially judged. Instead of taking some crazy action like throwing her into the trainings simulation, where she would have instantly surrendered anyways, all her Senpai had was some serious advice.

As Mina was still in some sort of daze however, Rika sighed. "Need a snickers?" And just like that, Rika pulled one of her treasures forth. No, seriously, even starting to imagine how horrible it was if the flavour of the things she loved to eat were simply simulated instead of real were just horrible! And having a sweet tooth she always carried an appropriate amount of emergency ratios with her.

Mina couldn't believe this, her appearance and mannerisms was spot-on, even right down to her hyperactive way of talking. Unless someone made a virtually identical clone of Rika, this... Guardian in front of her was indeed her very own little sister. "N-no... no!!" Mina grabbed Rika's shoulders again to stop her rant. "Rika!!" She screamed at her, a concerned anger on her face, one Rika would find familiar, "D-don't you know what this means?! Y-you are turning yourself into a ma-..." The CPO bit her lower lip, her nervous golden eyes looking left and right, they were making a scene, not in a good way. "..." Mina looked away from her sibling for a few seconds, calming herself down, thank god for the chemicals, "W-we'll talk later... just the two of us." For now, Mina had to diffuse the situation, she was the highest ranking Guardian around here, she shouldn't be like this, cracking the unity of her future squad moments after arriving.

(@Psyker Landshark) "You two are related, then? Siblings?"

"Yes... she's Rika, my... little sister." Mina regarded Yulia with a small smile, she didn't want to tell anything more than that, better to avoid any misunderstandings.

Mina was too preoccupied to give further attention towards the prospect of 'stick-waving' as Benedicta put it, she just wanted to get things straight with Rika.

(@ERode) "The personal rooms are five minutes away, down the hall, to the right. Go there, if you want to continue with your bonding."

"Yeah, we'll do that..." She didn't have the mood to mind Esfir's sarcasm, whether the Ensign told her or not, be damned well she would continue 'bonding' with Rika, bonding as it demanding the white-haired girl to explain every single thing. "Rika, come on." Mina was back into her older sister mode as she took Rika's hand with hers, then started to lead her away from the group, heading into the personal quarters. She ignored whatever Rika was saying or offering until they were properly inside one of the quarters, a private little room where she could finally unleash her frustrations.

"...into a machine?" Rika finished her oh-so-terrible sentence all by herself! Oh right. Guardian's could go from nearly full biological to somebody like Alice...who was born a machine anyways. Though in Rika's case, more or less thanks to her ability, she was still more flesh than machine. And now that she thought about it how much flesh was left in her beloved sister? Well, whatever. In the end it didn't matter too much and all Rika could say to that was. "Beep. Boop. Can. Not. Proceed." Of course fully accompanied by some robot-dance movements. Hopefully Alice wouldn't take this as some kind of racism...but even if, it only meant Rika could tease her with that!

To her surprise however, the older sister was still all serious, and nearly ignoring the white hairs own behaviour she got, more or less voluntary, dragged into another room. Safe all prying eyes, or was it? Not like it mattered to her in the end.

"Is it now time for a hugging session~?" Rika asked her casually.

--

"RIKA!! Mina exploded as soon as they entered the previously unoccupied personal quarter, Rika could see her older sister was in no mood for her usual antics, she was completely and utterly serious. "Do you realize what you have done?! Y-you… joining a Guardian meant… oh my God… why?!" Clearly the aloof younger sibling didn't realize the gravity of her actions. When Mina made the choice to be cyberized, she gave it a long calculated thought, weighing between the risks and benefits, it was a very heavy decision to alter everything that she was, turning herself into a machine, she did it all to protect the ones she loved and mankind as a whole. She abandoned her humanity so her family could sleep soundly at night, she expected her little sister to continue on with her normal life, let sis dealt with the space abominations.

Seeing Rika now shattered her, it was all for nothing, why did she fight so hard just to find out too late Rika following in her footsteps? "Did you think it's a game?! It's enough for one Kamaria to be cyberized… I did this…. I did this for you, Rika!!" Mina took a few deep breaths, hands clenched near her sides, looking down at the ground. "I… I kept going… I kept waving off the fact that I'm more machine than human, an object more than a person, because of you! I don't want you to become like me! I want you to live a happy life!" It didn't matter whether RIka was still more flesh than machine, her body was already 'tainted' with unnatural contraptions.

"Look at me, Rika…" Mina sighed heavily, pulling up her sleeve to show the little sister her arm, then she willed part of her skin to 'open up' like a cover, revealing a small control panel on her lower arm. "I… I'm no longer... " Mina paused for a second, gathering her thoughts, "What's left of Mina, the real Mina, is only her heart and brain, the rest… heh… the rest are made in a factory." She willed the panel to close, leaning with her back on a wall, one hand holding her forehead, "I lived - if you can consider me as as alive anymore - day by day, blissfully ignoring that Mina is already dead, sure… yeah, Chief Petty Officer Mirana Kamaria is one of the Guardians, a Valkyrie, Infiltration specialist, but… your older sister is no more, Rika. I am simply a machine replacing her… and now, you'd follow suit. What would Mama and Papa think?... Mina simply slumped down, dragging her back until she sat on the floor, hugging her knees, "Shit… I'm so weak...:"

--

"..." This has just gone...completely south? Mina had some sort of mental breakdown right in front of the younger sister's eyes! How was Rika supposed to be all Rikaish in that situation?! It would have been fine if it was anyone but her sister...but noooo of course it had to be her sister, not even a day had passed yet!

Rika gave out a small sigh. Yeah, so, right. What the hell was Mina even thinking? She was probably the only one who was capable of making Rika seriously mad, and she just managed to do so! Congratz. On a more positive note, this was now the perfect opportunity to legitimately hit her sister! Literally punching some sense in her like it has been done on many shows she saw! RIght? Right! It had to be like that! No, it was certainly like that!

"Mina…" The white-hair mentioned the other Guardian's name in a quiet voice, before she could give her some encouraging words the punch had to come first!

"YOOOOUUU IIIDDDDIIIIOOOOTTTTT!!!!!"

Balling her fist, the small frame put all her strength love into this one punch! After all, if she would do it in the first place then she could go to the extreme! And simple as that, there was zero hesitation as her fist made lovely contact with Mina's face.

There was only a little problem in Rika's masterfully planned out headcanon: For some not too weird reason, it felt like punching a solid wall. Mina didn't even budge. And if there was any pain to be felt then it was Rika who was ultimately punished for her very own action.

"Owh owh owh owh." Paaaaaiiiiiiinnnnnn! Why did it exist?! Fuck, it wasn't even surprising that Rika was bleeding considering she didn't held back with that one. "RAWR!" GIving herself an encouraging word, the younger sister grit her teeth. She wouldn't cry. No. Nonono. Not in front of her big sis, on her first day! It was enough for one of the Kamaria siblings to shed tears! But two would be just too much!

"HMPF!" Standing strong, and hopefully not dying of blood loss, Rika now had to act swift! Plan A didn't start off as planned, but she could still keep going! Just… pretending the punch actually did something! After all, the mental damage was more important than the physical in this case.

"Listen!" Urgh, now Rika remembered why she hated doing this kind of stuff. She was bad at it. "Neither I, Mom or Dad asked you to do this! If you didn't like it in the first place you shouldn't have done so! It makes me really, really, reaaaalllllyyy angry! So angry in fact, I could kill a space-whale and not feel bad about it!" Yeah! Poor space-whales, nearly going extinct.

"But that's besides the point! What makes me even more angry is how you could possibly assume being made out of flesh or metal would make you any less - or more - Mina?!" Now Mina stepped closer, she was bit of a hypocrite when it came to getting mechanized, but who cared? Hugging her now, or at least trying to, she continued. "You are, and will always be, the Mina that everybody, especially I, cherish and love!"

--

"Rika?! The elder sister's golden eyes shot open wide as the shorter girl suddenly punched her. Her fist felt like a pebble striking a stone wall, Mina barely felt anything while Rika's - still human - fist bled, "No… oh, what are you doing?!" Mina snapped out of her self-induced trance upon seeing her beloved sister hurt herself. She moved to hold Rika's hand, but the white-haired girl steeled herself, Mina found herself stuck in place, listening to her sister's rant.

"..." Rika had a point, but…. she wasn't entirely correct either. Mina joined the Guardians' program, naive and young, thinking she could handle a few cybernetic enhancements, it was like getting a high-tech piercing, no? Well… gradually, her body was increasingly 'upgraded' as in replacing parts of her to machines. She became faster, tougher, deadlier against the bydos but in turn, she sacrificed everything that she was. What for? To protect her family and mankind, it was worth it… seeing Rika did the very same thing was the one which broke her mental crutch.

"Heh…" Mina chuckled, good ol' Rika, even in this emotional storm, she still managed to crack jokes. The older sister realized they had differing views regarding what's 'human' or not, maybe it didn't matter to Rika whether her sister was a pure human or cyborg, but to Mina, she couldn't consider herself the same person as schoolgirl Mina, she was CPO Guardian Mirana Kamaria now, a cyborg who took Mina's place, however if it made Rika feel better to consider Mina as the same person, then…. so be it. She did this for her happiness in the first place.

"Come here you…" Mina stood up as she gently hugged her sister, her body felt harder than a human, but the layer of artificial skin and flesh helped the illusion. "I am sorry, Rika… I'm alright now." There was no going back, Rika had joined the Guardians, it would be easier for her to just accept it, "We should tell Mama and Papa someday… about us being Guardians, okay?

Mina slowly released her hug then went to sit on the bed, "I think the tour should be over by now… let's wait here and see who will join us in this room." That and she also wanted to spend quality time with Rika after all these years.

Eunike was getting the feeling that even though this group of valkyrie was rather strange, they would be a friendly and welcoming bunch despite the strict face which Esfir used to keep the two siblings in line. She was probably annoyed that they disrupted her tour with their friendly bonding, so Eunike made sure to flash an understanding smile towards the knightly blonde while mentally noting that if she was to be their commanding officer on the field, the white woman could count on her to watch her back. Especially because she handled the specialist rather well, who was a constant cause of accidents on the ship judging by the exchange between the two of them.

Then Toro confessed that she was useless alone, which almost made Eunike from. Was she a valkyrie that supported others with her skill? No, it did not sound like it and she could not see if Toro was just downplaying her own importance, which in turn made for another useful mental note when it came to combat with the rest of her fellow team-mates. Come to think of it, she really should look over their profiles once she had her place so that she had at least a vague idea about what they were capable of even if she did prefer to see them in person as to her, pure data was always harder to read than battlefield performance. It was so much easier to see what was happening instead of trying to guess at what would be happening from the numbers!

Which is why she chose to stay for the demonstration despite Benedicta's impatience or her insistence that this was merely stick-waving. She would only follow Esfir once this exercise in bonding was over.
"Good luck to both of you," said Eunike with her best smile as she stepped outside to observe the battle from a safe spot. Not that holograms could hurt her, but she did not want to be on the battlefield for now. "And if you need reinforcements, I will be watching."

Shrugging at Esfir's words, Yulia nonetheless approached the console, typing her name and rank in as the terminal proceeded to scan her.

"Serviceman First Class Yulia Nazarova recognized." A pleasant voice emerged from the console. "Please engage ARMs unit."

Yulia acquiesced with a nod and a smile. "As the lady-bot wishes. Engaging Slayer ARMs unit." Her armor appeared around her in a flash, as did the heads-up-display in her eyes that came with her cyberware. With but a thought, she engaged the safety locks on her own weapons, allowing the training room's systems to interact with her own, generating a holographic set of her Arsenal Gear.

As Alice started to question the accepted levels of damage they could do, Yulia simply chuckled as she engaged her flight systems, hovering in the air. "I think we'll be fine if we do no lasting damage. Nothing that damages the room or the actual tech. Besides, we're using holographic weapons. Only way we could actually damage the facility is if we start punching the floor." With a wave of her hand, she commanded four of her holographic blades to unravel from the rest, floating around her. "Let's get it on, then. The shuttle ride was making me restless anyway."

Alice giggled as her eyes turned red. "Rules accepted, Battle functions commencing. Engaging Aegis ARM!" Her body started to blur as the the armor formed around her and solidified her body. Then lights flashed as the room created her weapons. Alice fell to a knee, not expecting the hologram to mimic the weight of the weaponry. "Noted, Holographic weaponry mimics weight, adjusting power outputs to match normal configurations." Alice slowly rose to her feet and nodded at Yulia to show she was ready for orders from the senior Guardian. "GC1, what will you have me do?" On standby she waited for instructions but she did keep an eye out for any surprise attacks, pointing her assault rifle at the other side of the room, seeing that she did not sense anything on this side of the room.

About a day and a half later, the Astrea dropped out of hyperspace in one of many nearly-abandoned systems still within Human space. A casualty of the war, it was currently uninhabited, although not free of signs of former human habitation. The partially-shattered shell of an old O'Niell cylinder colony dominated the view of the local area, although the nearby sun and planets weren't far behind.

"Alright, girls," Captain Togo's voice sounded across the PA. "We've got a little warm up for you. The can city out there seems to be housing some stray Bydo, and the usual clean-up crews have graciously let us take the job of clearing it out. I'm sure by now you're itching for some real combat, so suit up and get out there. We'll hang back and provide support, as needed." He paused for a bit, before continuing. "Current reports indicate it's mostly low-class Bydo, but there's at least one high-class lurking in there somewhere. It shouldn't be any real trouble for a group of your size and skill, so go out there and kick some ass."

At the end of the announcement, the ship went into high alert, and all Guardians were given the official order to deploy.

A day and a half passed, and Esfir realized that birds of a feather did not actually flock together. Well, in this case, it was more that the blonde Knight came to the conclusion that Benedicta was a serious person who understood what was needed in her line of work. That was one issue that could be ignored, at least. The whole sibling love between Rika and Mina was bearable after a while, but maybe that was just because she barely met them. The past day was filled with apologies and explanations and blunt accusations towards the engineering department, and the half day afterwards was filled to the brim with retuning and recalibrating her artificial body.

After all, Esfir was perfectly aware of when their mission would start, and she will not suffer an injury just because one of her arms had a screw loose.

When the Captain's voice resounded through the Astrea, Esfir was already striding towards the deployment bay, a holographic HUD an arm's length away from her as she looked over all her teammate's files once more. Refreshing the memory was also important, even if her cybernetic brain could access those files even during the heat of battle.

Though the heat of this battle would only be lukewarm, if that lazy captain's recon report was accurate.

The deployment bay was still empty when Esfir entered, and she stood there for a moment, breathing in the cold, scentless air, clearing her thoughts.

Now, the enemy was just bags of flesh, and her allies were just hunks of metal.

"Let's get started," she muttered, walking towards a locker with her name emblazoned on the front. The woman lifted her arms forwards, palms parallel to the wall. Her flaxen hair was already secured in a ponytail, high up on her head, and her blue eyes shimmered as an invisible laser was shone into them.

"ARMs Integrate!"

The locker opened up, mechanical limbs bursting from cavernous depths like a tentacle monster from a child's basement. Esfir didn't flinch as it whirred and clicked around her body, locking and drilling plates of blue steel onto her body. A burst of energy radiated from her as her power core entered 75% output, vivid lines of red racing up her body. They were almost like circuits, awoken from their dormant state, and, alone in the room, Esfir smiled.

She gripped the Red Ring that was presented to her by those mechanical limbs, as her partner, the Knight ARMs Module <La Flamme>, revealed itself, its gallant form arising from the locker. It was an imposing mecha, standing up a head taller than its owner, but there was an air of elegance despite its rather crude design.

"La Flamme, please retract the Liselotte T6."

A click and a whirr resounded as the tentacles folded themselves against the horse's body, becoming part of its armor. Good. Wouldn't want any of the others to get any inappropriate ideas before the mission started.

Two nights spent together with Rika, along with Esfir and Toro, enough for them to at least know each other, enough to form a sub-team when it was time for mission deployment. The Captain had prompted the Guardians for a sweeping mission at the long-abandoned O'Niell cylinder colony. "Alright, time for action!" Mina winked at her own reflection on the ship's window overlooking the vastness of space, the derelict space structure was visible from there along with the local sun and other planets. Mina stepped out of her quarters, already wearing her black gold-lined jumpsuit which would be discarded later as she put on her ARMs gear, her long pink hair let loose, an inverse from Esfir who kept her hair on ponytail during combat sessions. Mina usually preferred the loose hair style, there was a specific reason why she styled it as a ponytail in her casual clothes... something connected to the Guardian who saved her, all those years ago.

Her cybernetic body was already prepped, ready to be fitted. She was the second to enter the deployment bay after Esfir, a confident grin on her face. She stood on top of a marked circle with her locker behind her back, standing straight with her arms extended sideways, "CPO Mirana Kamaria, authenticate!" A beep sounded from the locker.

"Authentication successful, welcome Guardian Mina." A female robotic voice rang from the speaker.

"Guardian ARMS ~ROH~ Engage!"

The circle below her lit up, its patterns spinning with a golden glow as Mina floated upwards by a few inches, the locker behind her opened up, multiple robotic arms carrying pieces of her ARMs. The first wave fitted her helmet, shoulder guards, torso armor, greaves, and gauntlets. They retracted, giving their turn to another set of arms, bigger this time, fitting her the scythes on her back complete with their harpoons, the bigger arms retracted. The Deuterion Engine core on her chest shone with a golden glow, power lines traversing to other parts of her armor, also giving them their signature bright gold color. Mina landed back on the ground, her irises glowing with a neon golden glow. The sounds of robotic gears turning accompanied each step she made as Mina went to the locker's side. She picked up her twin javelins, cinch them on her waist, then equipped her offensive shield, then she ran towards the opened bay door.

"Mirana 'Mina' Kamaria, launching!" The deuteron engine ignited, blasting her away from the spaceship, usually she was first to launch, acting as the team's scout to survey the combat location before the main engagement. "Astrea, Mina here, awaiting for your orders. Over."

The next day and a half were not much different than the other days. Aside from the older-younger sister dynamic happening with her two new room. It was a little annoying and sappy, but could have been worse. Toro really would've liked to get her hands on that Android. Alice was it? She seemed pretty interesting. Though for some reason, it seemed like she avoided her at all costs... Oh well. Might as well try to fix up this junk heap.

"Whew! Saved by the bell. Sorry, boys, I'll leave this to you guys!" Toro was once again tinkering with the ships insides. Slowly but surely she would make this place a mechanical mecha. The other engineers had only just discovered she had been "Updating" the circuitry, and they weren't too happy. Thankfully the captain was on her side!... Or something. Now they had their first assignment and Toro was finally going to get some action.

Toro rushed through the halls, nearly knocking down several people. She had a bit of a name for herself on the ship. Not a bad person, but just... Irritating at times. When she reached the deployment bay, she saw she wasn't the first their. Standing in front of her own locker, she called out to the voice automated system

"Valkyrie ARMS /Hornet/ Engage! Vanguard Drive initiate! Ether-Static generator online."

The mechanical arms sprang forth, connecting the suit piece by piece. Once it was all together, Toro activated her ESP. A small burst of electricity surged within the generator on her suit. The machine brought forth her tether arm, and her Charges. Then her SMG's were lifted down from the ceiling. She picked them up. The mechanical arms then connected the new attachment s to the generator. Fully charged. All systems optimal.

"Guardian Toro Suzuku ready to deploy!"

Though the battle simulation went well, Alice still felt down. Clearly she must have failed to prove she was not broken because they only gave her one roommate, Eunike. Still this was not too bad. Her systems determined her to be the most optimize roommate. She was kind and nice. Also she was not that tinker Toro. The thought of walking and seeing her modifying her body haunted her these past nights. "Mom, why can't I operate correctly?" She said to her self, as she sat in her bed and preformed a check up on her systems on her leg. Holding that ice in her leg for so long had a negative effects on her leg. The other day, she noticed her leg was not functioning correctly for brief moments of the day. Now she was going to put the finishing touches to ensure it would not bother her anymore.

She was alone in her room but for added precautions, she threw her blanket over her to hide what she was doing. She removed her leg and ran a complete functionality test. Everything seemed to be sat, however her leg seemed to be receiving less power then normal. Though it did down the functionality, it would still make it harder to walk and balance, as she would have to redirect more power in order for it to preform at normal levels. She fell back into her bed. Then she rolled over smothering her face into the pillow.

"Alright, girls," CO's voice echoed over the PA, " "We've got a little warm up for you. The can city out there seems to be housing some stray Bydo, and the usual clean-up crews have graciously let us take the job of clearing it out. I'm sure by now you're itching for some real combat, so suit up and get out there. We'll hang back and provide support, as needed."

Alice moaned into her pillow. Now with this unknown error in her leg, she was forced to operated while degraded. Worst of all, she could not let anyone know because she knew they thought she was broken. They had too after that first day. She reached over to her drawer and pulled a sheet of bubble wrap. A sense of relief filled her with every pop. After popping 3 bubbles, she felt calm and relax. The fear of being seen as broken faded away. She reattached her leg and ran to the door.

She tripped, forgetting that her leg was still weak on power. "Oh yeah... I still need to fix that." She slowly got up and used the nanobots to reroute more power to her legs. Then she ran, successfully to the deployment bay. She quickly walked over to her locker and opened it. "Battle functions commencing. Engage Aegis ARM!" Suddenly metal arms jetted out of her locker and attached her armor to her body. This was vaskly different from the hologram and she preferred it this way. She felt the weight instead of a force acting as weight. Then her weapons were attached to her shoulder. Then she picked up her Assault rifle and Gauss rifle, attaching them to her hips. She was now combat ready.

She took a step, stumbling at first from her weak leg. She the power flux from having her armor equipped threw off her division of power. Their was too much drainage and she was not going to be able to retain complete functionality of all her weapons and walk at the same time, but that did not matter. She was an long range fighter. As long as she had a spotter, my god have mercy on their biyo SOULZ. she slowly walked over to Ensign Esfir and saluted. "Ma'am awaiting orders"

Eunike had only one room-mate assigned to her, but the valkyrie was not bothered by the lack of people in her room. In fact, she preferred the privacy of singular rooms, but for one, Alice seemed like she would make a decent friend if she finally managed to overcome the shortcomings of her programmers and for two, she had seen what the android was capable of. Defective her toe that she stubbed in the morning! Though Alice definitely had to work on not blowing up everything that stood in her way, Eunike was reasonably impressed with the android's overwhelming long-range firepower. She had even been tempted to test her defensive shield against the barrage Alice could unleash, but in the end, she decided against it.

The day she arrived was mostly spent setting up her room. Though Eunike did not have too many things on her, she did have a particular way of setting up her personal space, which apparently involved setting up white curtains around her section of the room, to give her at least the illusion of privacy, but she made sure to leave at least one of the curtains open unless she was busy with something or she did not want to be disturbed. She had also refrained from asking the commander to lower the temperature in her room out of consideration for Alice, because she was sure that she would react more harshly to an environment like that.

For all of her trouble, though, the android seemed to avoid Eunike, so the fair woman decided that the moment they came back from the mission, she would be talking with her. As for Eunike herself, she had reasonable interactions with the rest of the crew, making sure to always keep her smile on and talk as politely with people as she could. As a result, her impression of the crew did not change much over the days: they were a strange, but friendly bunch including the normal humans. Her fellow team-mates were not ostricising her either, so Eunike was happy and wearing a genuine smile.

At least until she was summoned in the middle of a regular check-up of her systems that she ran occasionally. That made her frown and no matter how much she hurried with it, she was not the first to arrive in the deployment area.

Not that it mattered. Stepping into the hangar to line up with the other Guardians, Eunike cleared her throat.

"Prototype A01, given name: Eunike is reporting for duty. Requesting access to the Achilles System," said the fair woman as she slid her legs apart, then she raised her arms beside herself to brace herself for the inevitable surge of weight on her back. Right on cue, a voice chimed in her head, telling her that acces had been granted to her, then she felt the familiar lurch of a device being attached to her back. Large, elaborate and seemingly designed more for looks than functionality, Eunike's weapon system that seemed more like some sort of backpack with strange wings was coloured silver. It really was a strange contraption, one that would no doubt attract the attention of her team-mates, but she paid it no mind.

"Achilles System recognised and fully operational," reported Eunike as she glanced at the many displays which projected themselves into her eyes and her six drones joined her side. "Eunike is fully ready for combat, sir."
