In the year 2020, the inevitable destruction of humanity looms. Terrorism and wars are at an all time high, a state of anarchy is spreading across the globe like wildfire, and villains from lore and legend are emerging to attack innocent people throughout the globe, each striving to establish their own domain. The god's themselves have become divided, with one side supporting the chaos and feeding it, and yet another side opposed to it, then with a third neutral party, determined to let the other gods hash the battle out, and fix whatever is left.

The evil gods have been the ones summoning the villains from myth and legend to battle. Those such as Morgan Le fay, Mordred, and Vlad the Impaler being among them.

However, the gods who have sided with the good have begun drawing heroes from the past to battle these villains. Heroes such as King Arthur, Lancelot, Merlin, and other members of the great legends of heroes are emerging to do battle with the great evil that besets the world. These heroes have been given newer, younger reincarnated forms, and sent to a place known as the Hero's Banquet Hall, an uninhabited island which has been repurposed to serve as a training and staging area for the new force of heroes.

Together with regular soldiers from the nations of the NATO pact, the Heroes of the past have been preparing to take the battle once more to the enemy. Only one side can win. Order or Chaos.

Hello, I have a few things I'd like you to know before you continue any further.

First off, this rp has minimum requirement of one paragraph (5-7 complete sentences) per post with a character, so if your not willing to satisfy that condition, my recommendation is to go ahead and click out, it just isn't worth wasting your time.

On that note however, assuming you do create a character it is important to note that it becomes "canon"
permanently, even if you leave this rp and vow never to return to it, please understand that I will be using them as a GM tool from there on out. If you don't think you could handle someone else using your creation after you leave, it's probably best not to look past here.

On a third note, as there will be minors involved, there will be a zero tolerance for any libertine type roleplaying. That isn't to say you don't have your cutesy hand holding, and maybe up to a bit of kissing, but for goodness sakes, if you wouldn't want your mother to read it, don't put it here.

And on a fourth and final note, there will never be a limited amount to the amount of rpers that are capable of
participating in this rp.

Thanks for reading.

Rules:
  1. The usual Iwaku rules
  2. No metagaming, godmodding, or creating Mary Sue characters. (I believe this is self explanatory)
  3. As stated in the disclaimer, always make certain you have a minimum of one paragraph (5-7 complete sentences) in your posts. However, i'd also like for it to be good quality as well, don't just shitpost, even if it takes you a bit to post
  4. If you plan to curse, do it sparingly, or if you plan to make a character that falls under the "CursesAlltheTimeforNoParticularReason" category, make sure it's a light swearing, avoid F-bombs, and higher tier swears. Because precision F-strikes work so much better.
  5. Include the name of your character at the top of your post, that way we know just whom your posting with. It should look like this:
Name of character

Post: posiknaonfonaksoif. oamsinf uanojkenf naiunf ksfn. inaoisnf inaosjnfolainnsf mia mniosnfais nnkvianmsof inaosjnf lkjkn kamsimf imai ijminmkajnso. kmiansijnf km iansi kmanjsnkfn im, kjnknajks.

  1. If you post in character, make sure you wait two posts before you go about posting again.
  2. IC drama should not become OOC drama, if you have a problem with a recent post or facts, or spotted something I missed, please make sure to notify me in pm, I will solve the problem accordingly.
  3. I feel as this is a very important thing to state, A GM's word is law. Please do not attempt to defy myself or any GM that I choose to work with me.
  4. Use common sense. If it isn't in the rules, but you think it's probably something you shouldn't do, don't do it. Better to ask me first.
  5. At the bottom of your character sheet please post a color of your choice to show you have read the rules.
  6. Good grammar and spelling is a must! If need be, you can run it by @conman2163, for help with spelling.

We have two systems for combat here. The first main one, which is the classic, on your honor, acknowledge the hits your opponent makes system, and a secondary optional system, that if given a majority vote in favor, allows the system to be used, the system is as follows

Combat Hit System

To keep things fair and ensure no problems occur out of people going back and forth attacking, The person who initiates an attack will roll a single die, using the "more options" tab, in the OOC in a post they make there. The number you roll will determine if it the attack lands, and if it lands, whether or not you get the full hit you describe. For these purposes, there will be no "one hit KO" unless the person taking the hit wants it to end that way, however, successive hits will mean that you are forcibly incapacitated by the GM if you don't acknowledge the damage. (The human body can only do so much ya know?) What you roll determines what you get, and this is the scale.

1 = a Critical Fail

2-5 = Fails how you interpret this fail is up to you

6-10 = You got it, but missed some details or something, what is missed is determined by defender, though it can't be too many things.

11-15= This is the middle of the road, little to no failure

16-19 = Little to no failure

20= Epic Moment

The person who makes the attack can roll a die, determining whether or not that hit lands. However, to keep everything equal, if the number that the person who attacking rolls is undesireable. Say they got an epic moment, the person defending from the hit may "reroll" the die in the OOC. However, the number that is rolled will take a +3 penalty modifier, meaning that even if you roll high, it could still have a chance to take you up on the scale, and therefor hurt you. Risk = Reward but Risk = Penalty too.

Prior to creating your character, check the bottom of this sticky post to see what legends and myths have been taken. In this RP, all legends and mystical heroes in every existing religion and lore exist. Please avoid any "Biblical" Type heroes though, I will not approve them to prevent arguments.

Appearance: (A preferably anime, fantasy, or drawn type picture, though I suppose a "Real Person" picture will do.)

Name:

Age:

Gender:

Weapon/tool: (It doesn't have to be something that harms someone else. Maybe you can support someone/something with your weapon? Maybe you have a weapon already associated with your character?)

Power: (This ability should start of as relatively low in power for plot and advancement reasons. Plot wise your character was just summoned from the afterlife to fight in a war, and them being summoned will take a lot out of them. They'll have to work their way up. If you'd like an example starting power, this would be it:

Subject A has the ability to summon fireballs at will. They can summon and throw up to three of these fireballs in a single post. However, summoning these fireballs takes a lot out of them, so they can only summon a maximum of twelve in a single battle)

Skills: (Are you a good tactician? Are you great at counting cards? Perhaps you are a great cook?)

Personality: Minimum of twenty words please.

Bio/legend: (You do not have to use a person from a legend if you don't want. You can create your own original character; a legend from the future or present, here as well. If you choose this route a bio with a minimum of 40 words is needed. If not, a link of the legend will suffice)

So it may be confusing over how your character will get more powerful. When you character trains under his/her respective founder, after the end of each training session I will post a list of characters that are eligible for being upgraded power wise. Every time you upgrade you character you can choose either to add an extra ability that must start out on a base level, or to choose to up your current power a bit. So if you had a character who was able to throw fireballs to start with goes up in experience, no instead of just throwing one, maybe they can throw four, or if they could already throw multiple, maybe now they explode on contact with a surface.

It sounds a bit confusing now, but if you have more questions I'll answer them when the time comes for you to "upgrade" your character (Or just PM me of course), you'll post the following when you get to upgrade or add an extra ability.

Previous Power:

Upgraded power/ Added Ability:

Then from there I'll approve it or ask you to modify it.
But once again, you won't need to worry about it in the beginning. (Not that the "beginning" will last too long)

Name:

Achilles

Age:

Actual: Unknown | Physical: Mid to Late 20's

Gender:

Male

Weapon/Tool:

Diatrekhōn Astēr Lonkhē (Meteor Spear): Spear-tip of the Star Traversing the Skies - it is a simple spear with sturdy workmanship that is well designed for close combat. Able to destroy all defenses and pierce the chests of heroes, he holds it lightly in one hand as a means of using for its original purpose as a throwing weapon. Having been able to pierce through all other heroes, he feels it is superior to any other weapon in the aspect of its thrust, allowing it to pierce hearts and penetrate skulls with every strike he makes. Once upgraded, the spear would be able to inflict wounds that are difficult to heal.

Celestial Bronze Sword: an assuming, yet sturdy, durable and reliable sword he uses whenever his spear is unavailable. Unlike his spear, the sword has special, Monster-slaying properties as it is a weapon blessed by the gods. It is a common weapon Greek heroes are known to possess.

Troias Tragōidia (Troy's Tragedy): Achilles's three-horsed chariot that is able to move through the sky. Summoned by whistling with two fingers in his mouth, it appears from the sky, controlled by reigns on the driver's stand. It is drawn by three strong-muscled horses, two immortal divine horses bestowed by sea god Poseidon, Xanthos and Balius , and lesser than the other two, a "fine and famous" great horse pillaged from a city, Pedasos . It boasts extraordinary power, firmly charging and "riding like lightning", which is very difficult to stop. Using it, he tramples throughout the battlefield with godspeed, scraping up the ground simply from riding it, increasing in damage dealt proportionally to its increase in speed. It can be likened to a "giant galloping lawnmower" at its highest speed.

535

Power:

Amaranth of the Brave: One of the most distinguishable traits of Achilles is his Nigh-Invulnerability to any attack. A trait he received when his mother, Thetis, dipped him in the River Styx, which made every part of his body impervious to any attack with the exception of his right heel. However, after being reincarnated, his Invulnerability power suffered greatly to the point that it is no longer a passive skill and it is left up to the Three Fates to decide whether or not it activates. In the event that it does, the Three Fates would also determine how much damage he could stave off from an attack. Furthermore, he can only use this ability no more than 5 times a day and this ability cannot be activated in succession (Usually takes about a cool down period of a post after the end of its effects.

Degree of Damage Negation are as Follows:

1 - Ability will not Activate

2-5 = Negates 10-15% of Damage taken from an attack for one post, This is equivalent to avoiding a Fatal strike but receiving grievous wounds. Duration of about one post.

6-10 = Negates 15-20% of damage taken for one post. Equivalent to receiving a non-fatal, non-grievous but powerful attack. Duration of about one post.

11-15 = Negates 20 - 30% of damage taken for the two posts Equivalent to receiving a non-fatal, non-grievous and less powerful attack. Duration of about two posts.

16-19 = Negates 30 - 40% of damage for the next two posts Equivalent to receiving a moderately powerful attack. Duration of about two posts.

20 = Negates 50% damage taken for the next two posts Equivalent to receiving an average attack. Duration of about two posts.

Skills:

Superhuman Speed: Even among heroes, Achilles is arguably the swiftest and the most agile one to have existed, surpassing heroes such as Cu Chulainn. However, when he was reincarnated, his speed had been reduced drastically since his current body couldn't adjust yet to the godly speed he was known for in his lifetime. Despite this, he is still considerably a lot faster than an average human.

Weapons Expert: Achilles has mastered the usage of a wide variety of weapons and is quite proficient with them. However, he still prefers using his spear in combat.

Battle Continuation: Achilles' inherent stubbornness and tenacity has granted him an ability to continue fighting for a short period of time even after being struck in his weak points, his heart and Achilles' heel. This is due to the fact that he "doesn't know when to give up".

Extensive Combat Prowess: Achilles has the ability and the skills to fight against multiple foes at once. It is no wonder that he comes only second to the greatest hero of Greece, the legendary Heracles.

Personality:

Achilles can be described as being broad-minded and audacious, often displaying a carefree smile on his face. Despite having the appearance of a knight, he is far removed from knights such as Gawain and Lancelot of the Lake who valiantly served kings. He isn't someone who would rebel against authority though, for as long as the interest of a person of higher status coincides with his own, he would carry out an order. He is someone who will not accept tasks he, himself, does not wish to complete.

He has striven to live his life in such a way that he is constantly the target of killing intent and hateful animosity, and he has become accustomed to it. He was someone who stood out alongside other heroes such as Odysseus and Ajax, who became legends in their own right, and displaying confidence in any battle and a great will to fight no matter the circumstances. He freely boasts before his opponents and mocks them severely, even while outnumbered and not fighting at full power. He was one whose one true friend and the women who loved him meant all the world, so such things are nothing to him. For the opponents of the war whose scornful glares are directed at him, the only difference compared to those who directed animosity towards him in his life are the time in which they existed and the weapons they wielded. He views them as all the same, and plans to cut them down like they are nothing.

An interesting aspect of his personality, however, is his reluctance to fight women. This is due to a long-standing regret when he killed the Queen of the Amazons, Penthesilea

Bio/legend:

Achilles was born out of the marriage between the Ocean Goddess Thetis, and Peleus, King of the Argonauts. He was blessed by the gods since birth. As a result of his mother's great love for him, she had tried to completely submerge him in the River Styx to wash away the mortal traces within him and make him an immortal god. However, his father opposed her decision since he feared that such an act would destroy Achilles' humanity. Hence, Achilles grew up while only a certain part of him remained human. Eventually, when war broke out between Troia and Achaea, Achilles was asked the following by his mother Thetis: "Do you wish to live a long and peaceful life without having your name recognized by the masses? Or do you wish to live the short life of a hero with brilliant achievements in battle?" Achilles choice went without saying. At the same time as his mother felt pride in his decision, she also felt heartbreakingly sad, because his fate had been predetermined since he was born. If he lived as a hero, he would have a short life, as if sprinting through it at full speed.

When he was a young child, his mother, Thetis, returned to the sea due to discord between her and her husband, Peleus. Peleus's old friend, Chiron, was a centaur who had trained heroes of great renown such as Heracles and Jason of the Argonauts. Peleus asked his old friend, Chiron to put his son under his tutelage and Chiron happily accepted the role of mentoring Achilles.

After 9 years of training, Achilles joins the Achean army when they launch their assault on the impregnable city of Troy wherein he achieved many great feats. He was a human who was exceedingly close to the level of the gods. A fast-sprinting hero with an invincible body, his body blessed by all the gods could never received any wounds, but his heel alone was this hero's vital weak point. The spear his father had given to him pierced through all other heroes. With his chariot led by three steeds, consisting of two divine horses given to him as a gift from the sea god Poseidon and a famous horse he stole while assaulting a certain city, no one could chase after him from behind. It is said that his presence alone could determine that outcome of a battle such as in the instance when he refused to fight for Agamemnon when the latter ordered him to do so, resulting in a devastating loss for the Grecian forces.

Hector, Troy's greatest champion, was the only person to have been equal to Achilles in strength and skill. He was a brilliant military tactician a capable leader, and the strongest of all the Trojan warriors. During Achilles' absence in battle, he had led numerous crippling victories over the Greeks. With Achilles' refusal to fight, it had seemed that the war would end in favor of the Trojans. It was until a man dressed in the armor of Achilles challenged Hector in combat. The two fought valiantly, and the whole time Hector thought he was fighting Achilles. That was until he landed a fatal blow to the man's throat which revealed that the man he was fighting had not been Achilles, but his friend, Patroclus, who donned Achilles' armor in an attempt to restore some morale into the Grecian army.

After hearing of his friend's death under the hands of Hector, Achilles kills Hector when the two duel and proceeds to drag the latter's body around the city with his chariot, a foolish and intolerable act that incurred that wrath of the sun god, Apollo. Despite repeated warnings from the sun god, Achilles continued to slaughter the Trojan army. So, the enraged Apollo aided the Trojan army's bow expert Paris, and guided him to shoot Achilles' only weak point—that is, his heel. Having his heart pierced by arrows one after another afterwards, Achilles sensed his own death, but continued fiercely fighting and using all his strength to kill the soldiers of the Trojan army around him. Just as predicted, he had a short life, but his legend as a hero was carved into the world.

I'll drop outta the race for co-gm aswell. I would love to help but I barely get by on my phone as it is. Plus the shit is about to hit the fan at work.

@conman2163
I have already withdrawn from the entire rp due to rl circumstances.

@Accelerator

Very excellent. I look forward to seeing the legendary hero in combat. In the meantime though, I need you to detail anything in the CS power that details duration in seconds to posts. Of course by that I mean your posts.

I see.... Disappointing, but I suppose it is unavoidable. I hope to see you perhaps in the future in this rp, as there will always be an open spot.

To everyone involved so far, I will be posting the IC soon.

Given that two canidates have already dropped out, I am dropping the time limit back to 12 p.m. central time tonight.

Those that have been close enough to see through the shadow note that his skin is pale almost ghost like and made of Germanic features while his eyes are of a glacial ice blue and only holding hate.

Name: Adler

Age: ?

Gender: Male(?)

Weapon/tool: His voice

Power: Persuasion, Adler with mere words seems to be able to sway the most stubborn of individuals to his way. People not only agree with what he says but also they want to be near him, to please him and find his approval

Skills: Manipulation

Personality: Adler is dark and mysterious, the few who have spoken to him in private find the man to be rather pleasant in conversation and well mannered but something about him puts people on edge almost as if you were in the presence of something greater then yourself. Adler may know this and seeks to be calm and polite to further unnerve those he speaks to

Bio/legend: Adler is just one of many names this being has had, he has been the whisper in the dark recesses of men's minds from the first time mankind gained the ability to be truly self aware. Alder has been there since man first stood up in their cradle, every murder, rape, fratricide, genocide even the simplest thoughts of doing something wrong were Adler's words on the thoughts of man pushing them to do it, his words but mere encouragements, to pull the trigger as it were.
Adler is the darkest part of humanity, everything we hide away and lock deep inside of us made manifest, cloaked in darkness he is our hate, bigotry, envy, lust and greed. Adler is as old as man and every bit as evil as the worst monsters man has made.
-
Have you ever sat by the fire and felt like something was there but as you turn to look you only see shadows dancing in the fire light? The feeling doesn't go away even as the fire dies and the only thing surrounding you is the darkness, the feeling is Adler. He is there beside you, above and below you and even as you stifle yourself in fright wanting the feeling to go away it won't because he... is always there, always waiting, always watching for the moment when those dark thoughts in your head are just close enough for him to seize and turn into reality.

Oh. I think I already stated the duration and degree of his invulnerability at the end of every sentence in that section. Was that insufficient?

I'll consider it. x.x Sorry, a lot happened (I was sent to ER) and work is drowning me despite that. I feel like two in depth rps would be too much to juggle at the moment. Hopefully I can join later.

Not that It's insufficient, I just need it to be a duration of posts and not seconds. Seconds are very hard to measure in RP.

@SoleStride

Alright, thanks for your consideration. Good luck at work.

@chrono

So your character just needs a whole lot more detail as far as the power goes in general. Just saying that the avatar is the fraction of what he used to wield is really insufficient. I have no idea what all of the various skills and abilities of the avatars are either, and this kind of encompasses a large amount of power, making it both OP since it is a multi tool power. Also, what weapons are in his arsenal, and how long does it take him to summon them? In short, I need you to narrow the scope of abilities your power covers, and go into more detail with them. I also need you to go into more detail about how many weapons are in his arsenal.

@Clyde

Given that you were the only one to submit an application, and the fact that you have shown to be quite trustworthy, I am making you CO-GM. Congratulations.

Oh woohoo. I'll be the bestest CO-Gm

Also my wrist is totally feeling better and I'll get to posting tomorrow

I have posted as the GM, everyone may now post.

Hey @conman2163 could I submit more character sheets for NPCs/villains? Kinda like this whole idea of reincarnated legends. Totally Fate/stay night-esque

Well Aubrey's got a very pretty looking salad, something like this

Probably in fact in a bowl exactly like it

Yes. So long as quality does not deteriorate, you are welcome to make as many as you'd like.
