Shireen Nahel - 25 - Shiphand

Short Biography: Having been born in on a ship, Shireen never actually had a place on land which she called home, but if forced to she would claim she was from Agrenna as that was where she most often visited when docked. Her mother had been a runaway from the Tumar Desert, and her Harin was from Agrenna. Not wishing to live under what he deemed oppressors, he had taken to the sea. He had always been a charmer and seeing her mother wanted nothing to do with returning to where she was from, it was more than easy to convince her to join his crew.

Shireen was born less than a year later; alas her mother passed away from the hardships of giving birth. Her father was distraught, and for a good year he barely took care of Shireen, leaving her to his crew instead. It was when she fell sick and nearly died herself that he finally came to his senses. He took extra care of her as she grew up, teaching her the intricacies of nautical life as well as the way of the sword. Shireen was always eager to learn and worked hard, so it wasn't long before she became adept.

Life was good for many a years until Harin was struck by sickness. It wasn't quite shocking, to be honest. He didn't eat the healthiest foods and he tended to drink more than he should. By the time Shireen reached her mid twenties, her father had passed away. Obviously she was sad and filled with grief for a while, but she took it in stride, and it helped that she had others to depend on.

However, some of her love for the sea had diminished with the passing of her father- it just wasn't the same, and Shireen felt she needed a break, perhaps experience a little bit of difference in her life. The Festival of the Eternal Slumber seemed like a good place to start, and her late father's ship, now captained by his close friend, was close enough to Eldrassir. It was decided everyone would attend before Shireen headed off on her own.

Weapons: A sword that belonged to her father. It's not exactly the most beautiful sword, what with the rather plain unmarked hilt, but its blade is sharp and has been well taken care of.

Magic: Wind

Equipment:
  • A rucksack with a few clothing.
  • A satchel with some dried food
  • A water canteen

Skills:
  • She has been taught the basics of how to wield a sword by her father and the other men who would work on her father's ship. She can throw punches and kicks and knows how to fight dirty when the goings get tough.
  • Shireen's also a hard worker. She can lift heavy weights, climb up heights rather easily, and isn't worried to get a little dirt on her clothes.
  • Personality wise she is able to communicate well with people, even seeming to be friendly when she really feels the opposite towards them. She's rather down to earth and able to keep calm when the goings are tough.

    Deficiencies:
  • Shireen can be a little overprotective of the people she comes to care for.
  • Having been at sea for quite a long time, she isn't very good at navigation on land and will easily get lost if she doesn't as for help or directions.
  • A drunk Shireen proves to be a mean and sarcastic Shireen.

Just as she had said the words, she heard the small yet clear voice of the little pixie, warning them that they couldn't leave from the front door. She would have scoffed if she hadn't seen that what the little winged creature had said was true.

"How unfruitful," she murmured to herself. She had found what she wanted, or rather, whom, yet it seemed her path was being forced to an end because of some ridiculous and rather disgusting people who clearly did not understand that their place was so beneath her that an ant underground surpassed them.

Her had curled around the boy's tightly, watching the police as they spoke to the young dragon. Violet eyes narrowed as she heard the tone in the man's voice- who did he think he was addressing the young one in such a manner? She would have put him in his place if she hadn't heard the boy speak. Her lips twitched, the hint of a smirk growing upon them.

"A waste of space began this fight, but I shall be the one to end it. Watch closely, young dragon!" She flicked her free hand- pure water from the melted snow rose and wrapped around her waist before taking hold of Kohaku's hand, like a living being. She need to use both her hands, but there was no way she was going to separate herself from him. This was the best she could do in this moment.

Both hands now free, she lifted them simultaneously, and as she did, all the water, beer, as well as any other liquid in the room rose up like a wave. Mizuko smiled, her eyes moving over everyone before she brought her hands down. The wave of liquid crashed down, not caring who was in its path made its way for any opening in the building.

Suspiciously, not an iota of water seemed to splash our intrepid heroes... at least the ones inside.

The fight had been none of Aki's concern. In fact, he had been regretting stepping into the inn for any reason in particular. Truth be told, he was simply hoping for a night's stay before heading off goodness knew where. But the way things were headed, he doubted there would be any sleep to be had. At the first sign of trouble, the white hair kitsune stood up and made his way outside. Did anyone see him? Not at all. At five tails, Aki was quite proficient in illusions; making himself invisible was a cinch.

There were dragons in there as well- he was better off out of there anyway.

He paused once he was outside, just in time to see a young female being knocked over and essentially squashed by one of the brutes from inside. That wasn't his first concern, however. His lavender eyes were immediately drawn to the shattered vase and then the smokey figure disappearing in the night sky. He lifted a hand, ready to send a ball of light to consume whatever darkness that was. The sound of another man flying out and landing on the girl gave him a pause.

This time he might have helped her out, but it seemed to him that she hardly needed any aid. A smirk crossed his lips as he watched her free herself from the men and promptly kick down the door. There was obviously more to this little lady than met the eye.

His nose twitched as did his ears. "I would recommend not standing there." Without warning he had made his way to the young woman, grabbing and pulling her away from the door, just in time to be saved from the barrage of water, alcohol and goodness knew what else. Water barely splashed there feet as Aki was now in the air, lifted up by two blue tinged white fireballs rolling beneath his feet. The girl of course was secure in his arms, safe from the evil of the dragon within.

~Taria Barlen~

General Information

Full Name:
Taria Barlen, Lieutenant

Nickname(s):
Tari, Ria, Barley

Gender:
Female

Age:
24

Race:
Human

Sexuality:
Bisexual (demisexual)

Allegiance:
The Queendom of Donnwick, though she was born and lived most of her life in Oris, Kiallan

Appearance:
Taria isn't the tallest human around, reaching a mighty height of 5'3. Though she weighs about average for that height, she is stronger than one would expect, little fat and mostly muscle, a lean and wiry sort from all the training she has received from childhood. Despite this, she has a rather feminine countenance. Fair skinned with a touch of rose in her cheeks, she carries no blemishes or scars of a hard life, at least not on her face. Her eyes are a dark brown, surrounded by thick black lashes that give her a softer and more innocent look than she may actually be. As for her raven hair, Taria likes to keep it open and unhindered.

Personal Attributes

Personality:
To an outsider, Taria would seem as if she was a rather strict and unbending person, who abides by the rules and had no ambitions of her own. They would, of course, be wrong. While Taria strives to live by the law and do all she can to keep from breaking it, she still has her own opinions about what it right and what is wrong. A strong sense of honour keeps her actions in check... for the most part. Justice and mercy however may occasionally guide her to doing things she normally wouldn't.

Apart from this, Taria sees herself as simply someone trying hard to strive in the right direction, whatever that may be. As such, she is often quiet and thoughtful, to the point of seeming like a wallflower. Socializing is a skill she still needs to learn, treating others much more stiffly than would be the norm, even amongst those she is close to or considers friends. That being said, she does have a softer side to her which can be seen when caught off guard or flustered.

Backstory:
Taria was born to Rendyn and Seline Barlen, though she did not spend too much time with them. Her father had passed away due to a skirmish when she was a mere five years of age, and as for her mother, she succumbed to sickness when Taria was barely thirteen. Such a grim childhood would surely have been the death of her in a place like Oris, but she was lucky eough to have an uncle and aunt who took her in.

Gerrant and Merianne Barlen had often wished for children of their own but were unable to concieve due to health issues. There was no doubt in their mind when they took their niece into their home and adopted her as their own child. Taria may not have had her biological parents for long, but her uncle and aunt gave her all the love and support she needed whilst growing up. It helped that they were a wealthy family in such an impoverish land and that they needn't worry about the monsters that ravished the rest of the land.

Despite the love and affection she received, this in no way left her a pansy. Gerrant was very strict with her training, having grown up in a military family himself. As soon as she was under her new guardians her training began, and by the time she was fifteen she was proficient in most bladed weapons. She was also made to read more than the average child and as such had a good grasp of history.

It was during these years of training that Taria realized she had an apt for magic. It didn't surprise Gerrant as the Barlen family usually had one or two magic wielder every generation. As it turned out, she was like him in more than just her weapon prowess, being able to summon a creature like he could, though she brought forth a unicorn while his incantations brought forth a lion large enough to ride into battle

Despite his family and house servants being satisfied, Gerrant himself was not happy with the state of his beloved homeland. There was something not quite right, and he did not trust those who advised the King. Whilst there was a semblance that all was well, it was clear for anyone who lived in Kiallan that all was not well. Gerrant wished to do something, but he couldn't risk Merianne nor Taria's wife. His attempts to have his wife move to Donnwick fell on deaf ears, but Taria understood his concern.

The Barlen name, while not the most famous was respected enough that a letter from Lord Gerrant would be taken seriously. Armed with a recommendation letter, Taria made the journey to Donnwick, ready to join the Queen's Hellhounds.
Strengths:
Having spent most of her life with a sword in her hand, Taria is obviously proficient at using blade weapons of any type, though she prefers a broadsword. She is not afraid to get herself in a dangerous situation, knowing she has years of training on her side.

Alongside this is Taria's own physical strength, strength and pain tolerance. She is able to lift and carry objects of considerable weight, can keep walking for long periods of time, and if need be will keep herself from sleeping all day if there is danger present. She takes her duties very seriously, and her stubbornness further strengthens her.

Weaknesses:
Despite her tolerance for pain, Taria suffers from osteoarthritis, causing pain when her knees remained in a locked position for a long time.

Her left hand is weaker than her right and prone to ache with both true as well as phantom pain from an accident that occurred some years ago in training. As such she keeps her hand wrapped under her gloves and usually uses her right hand for most affairs.

Magic & Equipment

Magic:
Conjuro- Taria has the ability to summon a large battle unicorn to her side when needed. Named Prongs due to the odd two horns on his forehead, he has been the one and only creature she has been able to bring to her side since her first time attempting to use conjuro. Whilst his horns and cloven hooves are deadly weapons, his speed makes it so that most of the time he seems like a blur to others.

[spoili]
8fPwE9Y.jpg
[/spoili]

Weapon of Choice:
A broadsword (preferably an enchanted one)

Gear:
*Enchanted Broadsword - The sword has been enchanted to emit flames of blue and white colour.
*Leather armour
*A knife for personal use strapped to her waist
*Rucksack with basic travelling gear including extra clothes, a thin blanked and nonperishable rations
*Money bag containing one gold bar, ten silver pieces and twenty copper pieces[/list]

Wood Elf ~ Male ~ 62
Original art from here

Skills

Fighting Style- Dual wielding- During fights Jehan uses both his longsword as well as a wooden staff to strike as well as block with.

Signature Skill- The Anti-Healer- Jehan can reverse his healing magic to inflict damage upon his enemies with direct contact.

Major Flaw- Ranged combat- Despite being an elf and having everyone expect him to be good with a bow, Jehan was never quite proficient in that style of combat. It was both his lack of skill and lackluster attitude towards the art that has him failing at wielding a bow.

Other Strengths-
  • Healing- A skill passed through the Harapatta family, Jehan too is proficient in fixing up peoples wounds as well as curing them of sicknesses.
  • Charisma- Wisdom, common sense and a dose of self confidence has Jehan dealing with both friends and strangers with relative ease.

Other Weaknesses-
  • Motion Sickness- There's a reason why the wood elf would rather walk that ride a horse or sit on something with wheels . Jehan does not enjoy riding and feels quite nauseous when forced travel via anything aside from his own two feet.
  • Perception (or lack of)- When Jehan becomes focused on a particular thing, he tends to ignore his surroundings as well as those around him, hence more than occasionally finding himself in dangerous situations.

Biography

Jehan was born to a rather normal and almost boring family in Estalla. His father had been born there, and his mother was from the Red Forest, though it's unclear when she had moved to Estalla. A rather wealthy family where magic was as common as grass in a field, it was no surprise that Jehan was rather adept at healing magic. His father's family was known for their prowess in restoration magic after all. Unfortunately for his mother, who came from a family of skilled ranged fighters, Jehan had little to no skill in that field and was too obstinate about trying to even learn. While this displeased his mother, his father thought it was fine and instead had him instructed in swordplay.

When he was considered old enough, the then young elf decided to take a trip to the Red Forest, having heard so much of its beauty from his mother. Sure enough, it was all she had mentioned and more, though it was the interactions with her family that Jehan enjoyed more than the actual place. It was here that he was given the staff he normally carries with him, and where he learned to use it as a proper weapon.

It was a good few months before he decided it was high time to return home. The journey was uneventful for the most part, until he came across an injured man. Feeling it was only natural to help someone when he had the ability to, Jehan quickly set to healing the fellow. Alas, the man was a highway bandit and the injury was a facade in an attempt to kill the elf and scavenge his belongings. With a knife sticking out of his side and pain and anger rushing through him, Jehan felt his healing magic take a different turn, seeming to almost twist, and as he pulled away his hand from the man, he felt the man's health beginning to drain.

Leaving the man to suffer, Jehan healed himself before continuing his journey. What he had done to the man both traumatized and fascinated him. It wasn't too long before he returned to Estalla. He kept the encounter with the bandit a secret, unsure how his father would feel about his using what was meant as healing to further hurt a person, even if it was unintentional.

Still, the idea of being able to harm without using weapons was too useful to actually give up. Jehan began taking more trips away from Estalla with no particular destination in mind. He had a code of his own and never hurt innocents, rather he would use this power he felt he was blessed with to take down unsavoury sorts who preyed on weaker folk. Unfortunately for him, the news of what he could do reached his father. Enraged at the perverse way healing was being used, Jehan was disowned by his family and sent packing when he had just returned home.

Upset yet understanding why his father was disgusted by him, Jehan decided perhaps the life of an adventurer was best for the time being. At first he would keep his travelling to only the Chain of Idris, but soon enough he was stepping in and out of Holtania as well. A bit of a lone wolf, Jehan mostly kept to himself for his first years of travel. However, with his lack of focus as well as his terrible ranged combat, he often found himself running for his life and spending days hiding in case rogues were still on the lookout for him. Clearly travelling with a group would be better off for him.

Since then, it has been a habit of his to seek out groups to travel with. When Jehan spotted the notice in a tavern he was currently resting in, he decided perhaps it was time for a new adventure. And so without delay, he headed off to Varden.

Two days had passed fairly quickly for Chani. When she had returned back to her parents with the medicine for her father, the two elders had already been expecting she'd leave right away. Her plans had been laid out quite clearly before them even before her visit to Harbor City. They were sad to see her go, but seeing they were already used to long periods of time without her when she was in the army, it wasn't something new.

Chani couldn't keep herself from shedding a few tears before she left, however. Her parents were old and they needed help; though her neighbours and their friends were always there, she knew it was something different altogether when your family took care of you. Yet the guilt that continued to burden her conscience remained day after day, and she couldn't simply ignore it. While her parents were living peaceful, other elder folk had lost their peace due to a foolish man's dreams.

"You must do as your heart advises you, Chani." Her father's words rung clearly in her head every time she had doubts about her mission. "If there's one thing you can trust, it's you're heart."

She could only hope he was right. Those in the Earth Kingdom would look at her with suspicious eyes, and those from the Fire Nation would probably still see her as the one who betrayed their 100 year cause.

Don't be so haughty, she scolded herself. You were one small peon. There were greater people than you who turned towards the right cause first. Like Lord Iroh and Jeong Jeong. He was he first Deserter.

Any sign of doubt that may have shown on Chani's face was gone when she finally reached the city. She was no longer dressed in her usual fiery colours, choosing to wear a tan tunic and brown trousers, her long hair tied in a simple braid. She wanted to make friends, not just with Maru but with the people she was going to help. They would probably feel more comfortable if she looked less threatening.

"Good day," she called as she entered the Golden Dragon. She paused almost immediately after entering, however, eyes quickly taking note of the shop's state. Seems you've had to deal with some trouble... A small frown lingered on her face, wondering if this was caused due to her actions when she was last here.

Stiffling a sigh, she looked towards the table and spotted Maru. The frown was replaced by an easy smile instead. "It seems I've kept you waiting," she said as she walked over. "My apologies."

~ 18 years old ~ Chakra Nature- Earth ~

Biography

The Nekozawa family was never very big nor prominent, living on the outskirts of Iwagakure, but close enough to be from the actual village. They were shinobi who specialized in Earth release jutsus, but that wasn't what put them apart. Similar to the Inuzuka clan, or the Aburame clan, the Nekozawa would use intelligent cats. These cats would specialize in sensing chakra and could be used in battle as a partner. Their real powers, however, were much more covert, being able to slip through shadows and spy on their enemies without a trace to be seen, all the while relaying the information to the one who is their partner.

This however caused the family to be mistrusted by most of the villagers, and for this reason they stayed on the outskirts of the village. As mentioned above, they were not a very large family, consisting of the matriarch Suzuna, her two sons Date and Chimon, both of who were married and with children. It was Chimon who betrayed Iwagakura, leaking information to Konohagakure about Iwagakure's movement. Unfortunately, he was caught, and so the family was slaughtered during the night by the Iwagakure ANBU. It was only luck and fortune on Date's side that he and his family had not been there that night, having been forewarned by a friend in the village.

The family remained in hiding for a good few years before finally being given secret asylum by the third Hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen, as it was their ties with the hidden village that caused the rest of their family to be killed. However, by the advice of his peers, he made mention that the family would have to remain outside the actual village, at least until Konohagakure was familiar enough with the Nekozawa family. Date was pleased with this decision and so the family relocated.

Moriko was born in the first year of their relocation and grew up among the trees of Konohagakure. From the beginning her parents didn't hide what had happened to the rest of the Nekozawa, nor how her family was indebted to the Hokage for letting them live there. She attended the academy when she was old enough, but her mischievous attitude as well as being ostracized by her peers for her oddities left her struggling with her schooling. She ended up failing the academy more than a few times, yet, this didn't mean she was actually bad at jutsu. Her family didn't wish for their Earth jutsu or the Nekozawa family's techniques in particular to be forgotten, so there was a stringent practice even at home.

It was at age fifteen that Moriko finally graduated from the academy. Now that she was a Genin, it was time for her to be assigned to a team and a Jonin. Unfortunately for the Nekozawa family, the same mistrust they had to endure in Iwagakure was present at their new home. Whilst the Third Hokage and later the Fourth Hokage trusted the Nekozawa, the same couldn't be said for the rest of the village. The only missions Moriko would be sent on were those with her father Date, or her older brother Kira. She didn't care about the others, truth be told, though deep in her heart she wanted to prove to the rest of the village that she was just as much a shinobi of Konohagakure as they were.

And then came the events that lead to the attack of the Kyuubi on the village. In one cruel sweep of its paw, the house that the Nekozawa had lived in for seventeen years was destroyed along with a large patch of the forest. Date and his wife had already been killed whilst fighting the kyuubi, and now Kira was gone. Moriko was barely saved in time by her brother who had used the Rock Shelter jutsu on his little sister and her cat before meeting his fate.

In the aftermath of the attack, Nekozawa Date, his wife Asami and their son Kira were finally recognized by the whole village as shinobi of Konohagakure and honoured for their sacrifice. That did nothing to soothe the pain Moriko felt, now alone in the world save for her cat. She was given accommodation in the village and helped with the restoration and reparation of Konoha. It was a shock and welcomed surprise when she was finally assigned to what was known as Team 0.

Skills
  • I Spy- Using her cat as well as her earth techniques, Moriko is quite good at covert information gathering without garnering any attention her way.
  • Twinkle Toes- Agile and nimble, Moriko moves quite like the cat she adores, making little to no sound when she moves about. Given she's a ninja, it comes in more than a little handy.
  • Bull's Eye- Having lived in the forest for almost all of her life, Moriko is adept at hunting pray, normally killing her food in one swift shot of her kunai.
Abilities and Jutsu
  • Earth Style: Headhunter Jutsu- allows the user to travel underground, undetectable to the enemy. The user can then grab the opponent and drag them down into the earth, leaving nothing but their head above ground and immobilizing them completely. (source- Earth Style: Headhunter Jutsu)
  • Earth Style: Hiding in Rock Justu- allows the user to camouflage themselves with the earth around and move freely through earth surfaces undetected. (source- Earth Release: Hiding in Rock Technique)
  • Earth Style: Shadow Wall Jutsu- This is a more covert version of the above jutsu, allowing the user to merge into a walls to stay hidden. However, unlike the above jutsu, they are confined to that place.
  • Earth Style: Earth Swim Jutsu- This technique is used for sneaking and striking silently, like a fish underwater, and then suddenly appearing to the ground's surface. (source- Earth Release: Underground Projection Fish Technique)
  • Summoning Technique- With her summoning scroll and depending on her chakra and stamina, Moriko can potentially call a rather fearsome elemental feline name Kasha to her aid.
    SoVT3Cx.jpg

Weaknesses:

2FKJjOx.jpg
  • Her cat, Kuro-chan. Moriko will not rest if something has happened to her feline friend.
  • Her teammates and Sensei are something of a weakness as well, as they are the only ones she has any form of close contact with.
Equipment:
  • Moriko uses the standard issued equipment that most shinobi have. Along with that however she does have a summoning scroll that calls forth powerful feline summons.

also known as Aya
5'3 - 125 lbs

~ Wood Elf ~ Female ~ 27 years old ~ Carpenter ~

Original art from here

Strengths
  • Limber- Living on a ship has made Ayameri quite dexterous, both with hands and body. She can easily handle her carpentry tools as well as deadlier tools like knives and daggers. She is able to easily sneak about without much sound, making her whereabouts hard to decipher if she wishes to be hidden.
  • Survivalist- One could call Ayameri hardy. Though she grew up with good food and shelter, her time with the smugglers, her days sailing alone, and her subsequent expeditions with pirate crews are proof that she can handle situations that are generally difficult on the body, and is easily adaptable.
Weaknesses
  • Low Intimidation- A single glance will be able to tell an onlooker than the wood elf isn't really someone people will take seriously, seeming nonthreatening and frankly, a pushover. Even when she is quite strict and seemingly upset, Ayameri's words will probably be brushed away and forgotten, unless someone knows her very well.
  • Close quarter combat- Ayameri is not one who likes to get into people's faces while fighting. She is smaller than most combatants and frankly doesn't have the skill to take on people in a close proximity, which is why she prefers to deal hidden blows or attack from a distance, where she will be safe.
  • Heavy Weaponry- Along with the above, Ayameri's arms lack the strength to wield heavier weapons for more than a few moments. Even a short-sword would be cumbersome in her hands. The same goes for anything more than light armour.
Biography

Born in Keelibral, Ayameri was the only of Meron and Siyela Astari. The pair of wood elves were also Oshanlenor natives, their ancestors having moved from Faraenthas many years earlier. They weren't exactly friends of King Kraymer Fardi, but they were free elves and enjoyed working in the fields during the warm seasons. Being trustworthy and generally seen as good employees, they made a modest income that kept them comfortable throughout the year.

Ayameri was burn during the winter seasons, but by the time she was old enough to enjoy life, it was the harvesting season once more. Life was never to hard for her as she grew up, her parents were kind and loving, but for the most part they were not around, unless it was the winter season. They made sure not to leave her unattended, of course; their half elf slave Daria would make sure to take care of all of Ayameri's needs while she wasn't around. So in a sense, the young elf girl was more attached to Daria than her parents.

As she grew older, staying within the confines of her house became rather boring. Ayameri would insist on Daria talking her out on walks, which more often than not took her out to the seashore. It was from here that her interest in life on the sea began, as she caught sight of the ships in the distance and asked Daria about them. The half-elf didn't have much knowledge to offer about the subject, not that it stopped Ayameri from asking question; she had been a curious child and even in her teenage years she was just as inquisitive.

Her first opportunity to get real answers wasn't a long wait. A smuggling boat had pulled up on the beach that Ayameri would frequently visit. The two tiefling smugglers who disembarked their goods laden boats were a little surprised to find two females. Whilst the half-elf was much more cautious, Ayameri grabbed this opportunity as like a lifeline, throwing questions at the two tieflings without much worry. The two smugglers already knew what sort of risk they were taking by coming on shore of over. Not willing to get caught, one of the smugglers promptly killed Daria and would probably have killed the wood elf if he didn't think she might be a little fun.

The first few months weren't pleasant for the young elf, but they were educational in matters of ship, sea, and body. Ayameri had always been used to being treated with respect, seeing Daria had been the one she saw most of throughout her everyday life. Now it was simply the five man crew of pirates turned smuggler. Two of them couldn't care less about the wood elf girl, there interests clearly in other directions. The drow captain however and the tiefling who had killed Daria were quite interested in carnal pleasures with Ayameri, and whilst she hated them, there was nothing much she could do.

There was one silver lining to her time with the smugglers- an older drow named Lukan, the carpenter of the ship. He wasn't the friendliest of people, but it wasn't like Ayameri had much to choose from. Recalling the ways Daria would treat her, she would emulate similar qualities, being polite and respectful, bringing him food or helping him with his tasks. Eventually he grew a soft spot for her. He didn't have much say in what the Captain did, but he decided to teach the girl elf what he knew as a way to keep her occupied, physically and mentally. It wasn't too long before she proved to be a fast student, and was able to do much more than simply satisfy the two men who saw her only as something to be used. She could understand how her parents felt about their work now, even though what they did would never be what she wanted to do.

The time came, however, when she had enough of being treated as she was. She was proficient enough with a knife after learning what she could from Lukan. While the idea frightened her, she took a knife with her to bed one night and waited for the Captain to make his nightly entrance, and by the time she brought the knife up to stab him in the throat, it was too late. Her sole friend had warned her not to go through with what she had planned, but now that she had, he was not going to let his apprentice die. Disgruntled, he helped her escape that night, providing her with a boat, rations and some money.

Ayameri had never sailed before, nor did she know which direction to take. It was only through a miracle, or perhaps her prayers to Zainth that after weeks at sea, half starved and dehydrated, she finally reached Mirgho's Harbor. It took some days before she found herself able to make a journey to Keelibral and back to her parents home. Her parents of course were more than thrilled to have her back; they had long ago feared the worst and thought her dead. For a couple of months they pampered her, though it wasn't what Ayameri wanted. Despite what she had to go on with the smugglers, she had found herself quite enthralled with life at sea. The prospect of working in the fields or even staying put on the island was not one she enjoyed.

She wasn't able to convince her parents of which way she wished to take her life, but she had never asked them for permission anyway. Fate had taken her away from Keelibral once, and this time it was with her own accord that Ayameri set out to Mirgho's Harbor in search of more opportunities to head out to sea, advertising her talent as a carpenter. In this way she joined a few different expeditions, though she never quite found a crew she wished to remain with. In the back of her mind there was always the hidden fear that the smugglers may eventually find her, but she would force herself not to linger on that thought for two long.

At present, it has been a good month since Ayameri returned from her latest expedition, a failure where their ship barely managed to escape Nature's fearsome embrace. With no work and her pocket growing dryer by the day, the poster seemed yet another answer to her prayers.

RIYUTA

  • Riyuta

    Nickname: Riyu, Riri
    Gender: Female
    Age: 23

Appearance: Average height and weight, Riyuta has fair almost porcelain-like skin, with just enough pink in her cheeks to look healthy rather than sick. Her eyes are a light blueish grey, surrounded by dark lashes. Her long dark brown hair tumbles past her shoulders to the small of her back. She has a shapely body which she enjoys flaunting by wearing sheer revealing dresses. All in all, she is a beauty to behold, and she makes sure she continues to look that way every day.
  • Frankly said, Riyuta is not a nice person. Looks can be deceiving and that is certainly true in her case. Inside her beautiful shell, one will find neither sympathy nor regard for others except herself. Selfish and narcissistic, she believes that whatever she wishes should be hers, and if for some reason that does not come to pass, she will mete out consequences.

Having a cruel streak, even something as small and petty as spurned affections will have her send someone to be tortured and killed. On the flip side, she is more than willing to toss aside someone who no longer interests her.
  • Born to a rather wealthy family, Riyuta was born with a silver spoon in her mouth. Even before she could speak any words, she had a selfish quality of wanting what she wanted, and any obstacle that came between her and what she desired would have her screaming and crying until she had what she wished or she was given something better.

As shew grew up, her cries and screams changed, though not for the better. Living among others much like her, she was a quick learner, studying her parents and siblings in the art of seduction and deception. From a young age she came to realize that men and women were all creatures who easily fell to their base desires. However, Riyuta was the picky kind and even as a plaything, not every person was good enough for her. There was no fun in seducing common person who would have fallen for her by just one whiff of her present. The richer and more influential sort were who she enjoyed playing with, preferably those who were already taken by someone else.

As always, she didn't believe consequences had anything to do with her. Her narcissistic attitude proved to be her downfall. Having used and thereafter spurning away the affections of one lover, she had expected him to disappear in his shame, just like the others she had treated the same way. However, this man was truly vengeful, being something of an egocentric fool himself. If he could not have her, then he would make sure no one else would. Returning to her one evening in the pretense of begging her to take him back, the man pulled out a dagger and plunged it in Riyuta, who was clearly not expecting such a display of violence against her. Unsatisfied with simply stabbing her through the heart, he continued stabbing her until she bled out completely, ending her life.

[fieldbox="Hinata Surehn ~ 2nd Division ~ 5th Seat, #999115, solid"]

•Name: Hinata Surehn

•Age: 210, appearance is early 20s.

•Gender: Female

•Height: 5'3

•Division: 2nd Division

•Rank: 5th Seat

•Personality: Hinata is a rather quiet individual, a hard worker who takes her responsibility seriously, seeing she heads the Reinforcement Unit; after all, if anyone one isn't trained properly, it's on her head. Whether in uniform or out she is polite and well-mannered, keeping a check of herself whether alone or before others. Brave on the field and cautious in decision, she also often finds herself guilt-ridden for the people she knew who had gotten hurt or killed whilst under her.

One of Hinata's personal motto is "If you keep practicing, you will get better at it." While this causes her to be a rather overworked individual, this also causes her to be rather strict with her underlings, creating resentment towards her, whether they know it's for their better or not. However, due to her stubborn nature as well as lack of tolerance towards those who in her opinion make molehills into mountains, she tends to ignore the complaints against her.

•Biography: Most people aren't lucky enough to find their family when they pass away and are sent to Soul Society. Hinata was lucky; she was able to find one of her brothers when she arrived in Soul Society, or rather he found her, saving her from the loneliness and pain that many feel when they have no one. Farmers whilst alive, in Soul Society Hinata and her brother Hakuro were orphans, living in the District 76, Sakahone. For a long time the two were somewhat satisfied with their lot in the afterlife, keeping away from the more dangerous sections of the Rukongai as well as the gangs that preyed on the weak. However, as time passed, Hakuro realized that he didn't want his sister to keep living in poverty. His eyes would linger on the Seireitei, wishing for more than they had, until one day at last he decided that he and Hinata would somehow become shinigami.

It was no easy task, but the two had strong reiatsu, and this was noted by the shinigami who would wander through Sakahone. Hakuro's strength and Hinata's speed were also witnessed one day when the leader of one of the many gangs in the slums tried to take a shinigami hostage in order to make his way to the Seireitei. Unfortunately for the gang leader, he was disposed of. Hakuro and Hinata however were given the rare opportunity to join the Shin'o Academy.

Life switched from survival to actual happiness for Hinata. From the start she proved she a fast little thing and handy with a blade. Bakudo and Hado were not her strong suit, unlike her big brother, but her speed and stealth had her winning most training fights. It also turned out that she, like Hakuro, were blessed strong kaido. Once they were trained and full fledged shinigami, it was only natural for them to be assigned to 4th Division.

Unfortunately, as fate would have it the brother and sister would finally be separated by his death. Hakuro and Hinata had been sent out along with a rescue mission to the living world were a swarm of hollows had attacked. While busy healing those who were injured, the hollows overwhelmed the shinigami. While Hinata was able to escape, Hakuro was unfortunately taken down and did not make it out alive.

Wracked with guilt, Hinata found it difficult to continue and was given time off to recuperate. Being strong of will, she soon deemed herself ready to return to her duties. However, she no longer wished to be in the 4th Division and requested Captain Unohana to transfer her to another decision. Knowing she had the qualities one looked for in a shinigami of the 2nd Division, it was decided that she would sent there.

Hinata found the rigorous life of the 2nd Division was the balm she needed to alleviate the pain of losing her brother. She worked hard, harder than most, easily rising into the ranks until she was promoted to 5th Seat and given the responsibility of heading the Reinforcement Unit.

•Skills:
Hoho- Hinata learned shunpo early on in her years in Shin'o Academy and is more than adept at travelling in such a fashion.

Kaido- While she may not be the best at bakudo and hado, Hinata has always been good at healing techniques and was able to hone her skills during her time with the 4th Division.

Zenjutsu- Hinata is skilled with the sword and other smaller blade weapons including daggers and kunai. Using her speed to her advantage, she is able to strike multiple times to disarm, injure and kill an enemy combatant.

•Zanpakuto: Named Hotaru, her Zanpakuto is a simple katana that doesn't look much different from anyone else's, aside from the inlay being a light blue.

Hotaru the Spirit looks much like Hinata herself, though androgynous in looks. His hair reaches his chin, and his eyes are a vivid yellow tinged with flecks of green. His attire is much like a shinigami, but sleeveless and trimmed with yellow.

•Shikai Release: Shine, Hotaru!

dYtfznF.jpg

From katana, the released form of Hotaro may seem rather simple, a ninjato which is then sheathed on Hinata's back, the perfect weapon for a seat of Second division who rely on their stealth and speed. That being said, in this state Hotaru has the ability to absorb reiatsu from people or objects and thereafter convert it into an energy blast. Another ability that Hotaru possesses is being able to use reiatsu it has absorbed in healing small wounds or restoring consciousness to someone who may have passed out

•Writing Sample: Sheets of water continued to fall upon Hinata, but that was to be expected as she remained seated below the waterfall, eyes shut and cross-legged, her zanpakuto resting upon her lap. The cold meant nothing more to her than a dampener for other sounds and feelings that might distract her from communicating with Hotaru, the spirit of her blade.

She had meditated like this countless times before, and in many different locations, but since that incident... it was not the same. She hadn't been able to speak with him, and she knew the fault was with her; she had allowed her emotions to cloud her soul. Coming to this waterfall had been a last effort to grasp that which she was failing to. It was a special place, so perhaps she would find him here once more...

Time passed, hours or perhaps days, but the shinigami did not move from her place. Hakuro had shown her this waterfall when she first attempted to learn the name of her sword...

"It's not me you need right now."

Her eyes shot open, and she found herself in darkness, but a comforting one, surrounded by fireflies. Her gaze didn't fall on the dancing sources of light though, rather the person who stood before her, brighter than the fireflies he was named after.

"Hotaru?" she called, reaching a hand out. "I do need you. I always need you."

"No, Hinata." His voice, as clear as a cloudless sky, was decisive as he looked down at her, expression kind but eyes hard. "What you need is to stop blaming yourself. I cannot help you with that, that's all on your shoulders."

"But-" she choked on the words "-he's gone."

"It was his choice," was the reply. "Would you deny him to live and die as he wished? If so, then perhaps you should blame yourself for being conceited and believing everything revolves around you and your wishes."

"That's- no... of course not..."

"Then stop your foolishness. You are a shinigami. Act like one."
