A thread for additional content, world building, character concepts, plot discussions between @Pahn and @Grumpy

Please do not post if you are not the sensational Pahn or the notoriously old-man-get-off-my-lawn Grumpy.

Current inspirational material:

-13 Reasons Why
- Another (anime)
- Battle Royale
- The Bunker Diary
- Hated of the Nation episode of Black Mirror (season 3)

Current premise:

Private high school. An app allows students to vote for people in their class, and whoever has the highest number of votes dies a mysterious and horrible death. Bloody, horror, psychological. Multiple characters.

Need a proper title, probably. High School of Horror: Blood on their hands ... is probably too much of a mouthful :v

"I have over a thousand memories that aren't my own. I tend to know a secret or two, but I have a price."

Name: Nicole "Nikon" Sullivan

Age: 17

Year + Class: Senior, 3-B

Appearance: Round face, long dark brown hair, brown eyes, 5 ft 4. Heavy user of dark eyeliner and mascara.

Extra-curricular activities: Journalism club, photography club.

Dormitory Wing: Girls' B-Wing

Biography: The first thing Nicole did when she enrolled at [school] was join the photography club. It was old school -- they developped their photos themselves and would gain extra credits if they had a gallery show of their work. Shortly after starting her junior year, she was recruited for photo-journalism and it has since become her passion. The girl walks around with her Nikon camera around her nick most days, quickly earning herself the nickname "Nikon".

Her school uniform is always tidy, her hair is always fixed and brushed regardless of the weather, and her makeup is on point. While most girls trim their skirts to be shorter, Nicole keeps hers knee-length. After a party with the girls' hockey team, Nicole has come to realize she is not very interested in boys. She doesn't have many friends outside her roommate [...] and the kids in the photography club. Now in senior year, she is president of the photography club but has lost the position for the president/senior editor of the journalism club. She doesn't like losing, and is still bitter about it.

"They all fuckin' love me. They all wanna kiss my ass, but I hate every little fucker. Except for that calculus teacher, Ms. Hamilton... I wanna kiss her ass."

Name: Cameron "Row" Webb

Age: 18

Year + Class: Senior, 3-A

Appearance: Tall as hell at 6 feet 2, Cameron towers over most of his classmates and teachers. Since most white kids ask him if he's Chinese or Japanese, he's been introducing himself with the snarky remark that he's a Filipino-American. He keeps his hair gelled as though he only needs to pass his hand through it, but in fact he takes time in the morning to fix it.

Extra-curricular activities: Student council president, former hockey team member

Dormitory Wing: Boys' A-Wing

Biography: Cameron comes from an extremely wealthy and politically influent family. His mother owns a large corporation that fabricates military wear, and branches out in her home country, the Philippines. His father is the state senator of Rhode Island, and has been for as long as Cameron remembers. It is not incorrect to say there is a lot of pressure on the young man to become "a big shot" like his parents, which is mostly why he quit the hockey team in his junior year to focus on academics.

Everyone loves Cameron. The jocks, the nerds, the girls. He's very handsome and manages to pull off the best grades in school without seeming like a total loser, and even if he quit the team his old team members still think highly of him. Cameron doesn't have any real friends, though. He's never opened up to any other student, even his roommates, and much less had any kind of serious girlfriends. Ever since he started taking extra credit math classes however, he's found himself bonding with Ms. Hamilton, a young woman who sometimes looks more like a student than a teacher. She lives on campus as well, and they've succeeded in seeing each other outside of class on a few occassions without rising any suspicion. One could say she is Cameron's dirty, dirty little secret.

English & Languages

Aimee Justice
(PUBLIC SPEAKING, ENGLISH) Gesticulates a lot, speaks loudly all the time. A bit eccentric, but is excellent in teaching students on how to present themselves and on body language for public speaking. Not much is known about her, she is a new teacher from this year.
Aimee-Justice-edit.jpg

Marilou Bourbon
(FRENCH) French-Canadian, new teacher only 3 years at the school, her English is not very good so a lot of jokes pass over her head. She's very friendly and appreciated by her students (she often treats them to funny French movies every few weeks).
Marilou-Bourdon-edit.jpg

Mary Taylor
(ENGLISH, JOURNALISM) Friendly, often offers second chances and is highly respected by students. Previously had a career in the New York Times, left once everything started turning away from paper prints.
Mary-Taylor-edit.jpg

Meng Da
(CHINESE) Had a very promising career as an author in China but her topics were too controversial. Is an indie published author in America now, even though her English work is not as strong as her Chinese. Is typically too focused on her own authorial work to assist students outside of class.
Meng-Da-edit.jpg

Randall Bennett
(WORLD LIT) Serious, boring but generous in grading. Published author in Canada. Often listens to classic rock when he's alone in his office correcting work.
Randall-Bennett-edit.jpg

Shelby Bruce
(BRITISH LIT) Unapologetically British, makes jokes about British authors all the time and always has her tea in class. Published poet in the UK under a mysterious penname.
Shelby-Bruce-edit.jpg

Mathematics

Yesenia Owens
(TRIG) unorthodox as fuck, came through some of the pioneering inner-city schools renowned for their maths programmes, gifted teacher running up against tradition and red tape.
Yesenia-Owens-edit.jpg

Tamara Hamilton
(CALCULUS) alumni, would not be taken seriously by students if not for her unflinching authority attitude. Is rumoured to having an affair with a student.
Tamara-Hamilton-edit.jpg

Theis Lausten
(STATISTICS) International student alumni, Dutch, applied for teaching positions a bunch of times before being interviewed and hired. Is ruthless and unkind to students, but kiss-ass towards older male teachers and the headmaster. Is often heard swearing in Dutch when he thinks he's alone.
Theis-Laustsen-edit.jpg

Fine Arts

Harriet Hurley
(FINE ART) likely alumni as well, highly successful career in the art world that came to a sudden halt due to scandal, humbled by the experience and now enjoying the quiet life
Harriet-Hurley-edit.jpg

Pan Jeong-Ja
(PHOTOGRAPHY, ART IV) International student alumni, honorary teaching position. Is a famous photographer in South Korea. Funny and goofy.
Pan-Jeong-Ja-edit.jpg

Lorraine Rodgers
(ART HISTORY) Thinks she's funny but no one really laughs with her. Was previously drama teacher, but she caused too much drama with students, so she was given a "tamer" position since she is an alumni.
Lorraine-Rodgers-edit.jpg

Social Sciences

Jeremiah Dale
(HISTORY), former US army captain, no nonsense, from working class background (outsider in oldschool private academy like this)
Jeremiah-Dale-edit.jpg

Mark Höffner
(GLOBAL EcONOMICS, GERMAN) German, was an honorary invitee for a teaching position as he is an alumni. Very serious, flirtatious with most female teachers.
Mark-H%C3%B6ffner-edit.jpg

Mackenzie Roy
(WORLD HISTORY) Goofy and forgetful, often has to run out of class because she forgot something. Easily connects with students, very trusted and respected.
Mackenzie-Roy-edit.jpg

Leah Richardson
(PSYCHOLOGY) A little too intense for her type of coursework, she whispers her way through class while making grand gestures, and talks a lot about Freud without ever mentioning any sex-related because of school policies. Tries hard to be friends with female students.
Leah-Richardson-edit.jpg

Science

Blair Hawkins
(BIOLOGY) Through-and-through Cali girl, recent Marine Biologist graduate with a postgrad in teaching (she's looking to make a name for herself in the private school circuit). Excitable and passionate about her subject, also coaches the swimming club. They won't let her start a surfing club. Yet. She'll win them over soon enough.
Blair-Hawkins-edit.jpg

Killian Murphy
(COMPUTING, PROGRAMMING) Irish, highly successful programmer during the Irish tech boom of the mid-2000's who has since sought a more easy-going life teaching. An absolute terror for most students thanks to his no-nonsense attitude and sombre Belfast attitude, yet highly supportive of the computing club (he considers them his kids, and will often look out for them).
Killian-Murphy-edit.jpg

Laili Davar
(PHYSICS, ASTRONOMY) International student alumni from Iran, astro-physicist in a mundane teaching position to fill up her bank account before moving on to better things. Rarely goes beyond text-book course work, but out of the class will passionately talk about astronomy and such.
Laili-Davar-edit.jpg

Ruben Vincent
(CHEMISTRY) Failed his PhD research program, bitter and eccentric but always willing to help if a student reaches out.
Ruben-Vincent-edit.jpg
