In the midst of an unparalleled crime wave that has besieged Gotham, the result of the super villains Bane and Hush joining forces, the Bat family has had their hands full. Bane and Hush have effectively merged their talents into a new mafia like syndicate that has been running riot in Gotham and nearby Bludhaven, however Batman and his allies have remained a stubborn thorn in their sides. This all changes when a group of the villains’ hired thugs, on a routine extortion hit, inadvertently discover a strange underground pit in one of the cavernous expanses of the Gotham subway system. The pit churns and bubbles with a neon liquid that gets the attention of Hush and Bane. Not knowing what exactly they’ve gotten their hands on, the villains keep a lid on things until they get a knock on their door from none other than the Demon’s Head himself…Ra’s Al Ghul. One of his infiltrating informants from the League Of Assassins has told him about the strange glowing pit discovered by Bane and Hush’s thugs, and Ra’s thinks he knows exactly what it is. To his delight, it is confirmed that the pit is indeed a new Lazarus Pit under Gotham, however this Lazarus Pit is unlike any other. To the villains’ amazement, the pit seems to grant different people with wildly differing abilities based on their already existing strengths. Knowing that this might be the key to granting him true immortality, Ra’s tries to bargain with Bane and Hush for it’s use, however the duo are unwilling to deal, planning on keeping the pit for themselves. This sparks a confrontation between the three villains and a turf war ensues over new Lazarus Pit.

This inevitably comes to the attention of Batman as the turf war spills over into exceedingly violent repercussions. Ra’s begins to get the upper hand and starts to enact heavy losses against Bane and Hush. In a last ditch effort, the villainous pair order their henchmen to immerse themselves in the pit…all of them emerging as deformed and frightening creatures with deadly abilities. Realizing that they have a veritable super human army at their disposal, Bane and Hush begin to train them as a new and elite task force. In an experimental training run, the villains are run afoul by Bat Woman. Eager to see what their new shock troops can do, Bane and Hush unleash their brood on the unsuspecting heroine and completely overwhelm and kill her. Holding her blood stained cowl, Hush and Bane dub their new troops the Knight Hunters…and their reign of terror in Gotham has only just begun.

*The Bat himself will not be playable...any other characters are fair game. Original creations are encouraged.

History:
Darrian Nieves grew up in the rough south side slums of Gotham and was embroiled in gang life and hard criminal mischief at a very early age. On his way to becoming a career criminal, Darrian had an encounter that would shape his future in the Gotham underworld. During a routine drug deal, Darrian and his cronies were double crossed by their suppliers. The men opened fire on the young gang bangers, but luckily the Bat Woman had intervened at the last second and knocked the gun from the shooters hand, saving Darrian’s life. The cops showed up soon after and Darrian was taken into custody. However two of his cohorts weren’t so lucky and were killed at the scene. The incident didn’t set Darrian on the straight and narrow, but he never forgot how the heroine saved his life and made a silent vow to one day return the favor if he ever could.

Some years later, and the young man had made quite a name for himself in Gotham’s criminal underbelly as a ruthless enforcer and was hired on by Bane and Hush as one of their top tier lieutenants in their burgeoning mafia like syndicate. Darrian was known for his brutal tactics of interrogation, most notably his methods of torture. He favored disfiguring his victims by slowly dripping acid onto their faces in order to get them to talk. To add insult to injury, he would force his prey to write their own epitaphs before he ordered them killed…leaving what they wrote on their corpses to be discovered by either police or their families. When the turf war broke out with Ra’s Al Ghul over the newly discovered Lazarus Pit, Darrian stayed ever loyal to his employers, that is until he learned of Bat Woman’s death at the hands of the newly dubbed Knight Hunters. He remembered his vow and his conscience began to tug at him. When he could stand it no longer, Darrian decided to become an anonymous snitch and dimed out his employers to Gotham PD. However his choice to snitch on Bane and Hush wasn’t entirely out of his guilt for Bat Woman’s death, he hoped that with the villains out of the way, he might take control of their criminal empire. This ultimately back fired and one of Darrian’s conversations with Commissioner Gordon was tapped by Hush and he was discovered to be a traitor. Darrian was tortured for days, Hush employing his very own acid method against the gangster. Acid began to drip down the right side of Darrian’s face, slowly dissolving his skin with every passing second. However as his agonized screams filled the room, some of the acid began to drip onto his restraints, inadvertently freeing him. Darrian managed to escape, frantically running for his life.

With Hush’s thugs in hot pursuit and with the right side of his face dissolving, Darrian makes his way to the Lazarus Pit underneath the building. He hangs over the side contemplating what to do next, before he is shot in the back by one of his pursuers. Darrian plunges into the pit and is presumed dead by Hush’s thugs. A few days later, the gangster emerges from the pit unseen, reinvigorated and possessing a set of fantastic new powers. He now has the ability to secrete an super corrosive acid from any part of his body, which he can control at will. Also due to him being shot prior to entering the pit, he is completely bullet resistant and immune to fire. With vengeance burning in his soul, he seeks out the one person who might help him to that end…Ra’s Al Ghul. Armed with his new powers and an in depth knowledge of Bane and Hush’s operation, Ra’s views Darrian as a new and invaluable asset in his war against the villainous duo. Darrian is inducted into the League Of Assassins and under Ra’s tutelage, gains a whole new identity. With his powers, weapons and costume, Darrian Nieves becomes the murderous Epitaph…
