375 million years ago, the first amphibian hauled itself out of the ocean and learned to breathe air.

In the year 2021 the first human being took flight into the clouds under his own power. And from there the flood gates were opened.

The latest link in mankind's evolution had marked the beginning of a golden age none of us had ever expected. The age of supes in suits. Some called them medical marvels. Some called them miracles. Others just called them freaks. But one way or another, the metahumans were taking up space in everyone's brain. It was no surprise then, when the world's obsession catapulted them to super stardum. The 'supes' had grown into the most powerful celebrities on the planet, and they didn't waste their fame. They were movie stars and civil servants. Industry moguls and everything in between. Heroes United was the centre of it all. Towns, cities, even sovereign nations would pay millions to be under the protection of these celebrity crusaiders. Crime was the lowest it had been as far back as anyone could remember. After all, from the cat burglurs to global terrorists, no one could oppose the might of the supes. For the first time in our history, Utopia didn't seem like a fantasy.

Then the impossible happened. On August 4, 2046 a shaft of burning light struck from the sky and devastated the Heroes United head office, and the entire Metro City around it. It was a nuclear scale disaster, but still many did not give up hope. The world had thought our supes to be unkillable. We waited for days. We held vigils. We laughed at the absurdity of a supe being defeated. But none of them ever emerged from the burning ruins of Heroes United. In one impossible moment, our guardian angels had all been wiped from existence.
We thought we were so powerful, us humans. We thought we had evolved beyond anything that had occupied our planet before us. Anything in our universe even. After all, we were the generation that had finally evolved to achieve 'superpowers'. We had turned heroism into an industry and meta-humans into a precious commodity. But something new had come from beyond the stars to prove us wrong and they were no superheroes. They weren't super anything. They were gods.


Plot
The world faces a global threat the likes of which we've never experienced before. The vast majority of Supes were killed in the Heroes United attack, and there are rumours of other well known Supes turning up dead or missing. NASA has made reports of a large vessel orbiting the earth, the likely culprit for the Heroes United attack. You are all that's left of a rapidly dwinlding race of metahumans and for one reason or the other you haven't given up quite yet, even as the world around you is panicking. There are rumours of a research facility in the ruins of Metro City. We have a chance to understand our attackers and the destruction they've wrougth. A chance to save our planet. But nothing is promised.

They are watching. And They are coming for you.

-Keep OOC discourse respectable and drama to a minimum
-Players are required to post at least once every ten days to keep the story flowing. Writing expectations are intermediate-advanced. Proper grammar and punctuation are a must. Post length must be a minimum of one paragraph but may be longer if the context demands it

Name: Von Allen
Age: 22
Appearance:


Personality: Von is usually a very calm and level-headed individual. Due to his tight knit upbringing with his mother and father he became a big family man, and empathy was one of the golden rules in his parents' household. He will often go out of his way to help others. It's always been his way of performing heroics, even if he wasn't the suit and cape kind of guy. Because of his superhero father's fame he had to learn from a very young age to be self assured, confident and tenacious, though he has developed the bad habit of shouldering every weight on his own and neglecting the help of others. He's also no stranger to hard-headedness and is known to be difficult to talk out of anything he's made up his mind about.

Powers: Von, like his father before him, possesses the power of tactile kinesis. This power manifested in his father as an invisible, telekentic force field molded around his body that simulated invulneribility. This earned him the title 'The Untouchable', and Von inherited this same power and the supposed super strength and invulneribility that come with it. He,however, has more influence over his aura and can project it outward from his body to form a more encompassing force field.

Weakness: Projecting his aura weakens it's durability and longevity. His personal shield is naturally in the 'on' position, but should his energy be drained enough his aura will be no stronger than a regular human being's.

History: Von knew of more meta-human kids than he could count who'd spent their lives trying to live up to their parents expectations and failing more often than not. They were the superhero legacy generation who'd replaced the escapades of drunken actors and scandalous pop star affairs on the covers of the tabloids and gossip networks. But Von had never been one of them. Despite his father's status and popularity as a supe, Val Allen kept his secret hidden and his family out of the spotlight. Von had been given the oppourtunity to grow up as a regular kid in the suburbs. One with a superpowered secret. His powers were a bond he shared with his father, one that spawned many jokes when it became clear he could do things his father couldn't. Val was the white knight in Von's life. The man who could never be harmed or taken away from him.
Despite Von's powers, he'd never wanted to become a superhero and his father never tried to force him. Instead, when the time came to decide if he wanted a cowl, Val chose to head off to college instead. His parents had supported his decision, right up until the day his world came crumbling down. Von's father was one of the many who died in the Heroes United attack, The Untouchable was felled in the devastating attack and Val's world had fallen with him. He couldn't think of it as making a decision when he left his grieving mother at home and went out on the path to revenge. There was nothing to decide. Metro City. The superheroes. His father. These creatures had a lot to answer for. And he wanted to be the one who made them pay.

Name: Kisaragi Mika 如月美香

Age: Who knows? Mika can convincingly pass as being anywhere from middle school age to her mid-20s.

Appearance: Mika has a lot of looks, but as a gyaru she's almost always flamboyant and flashy, with loads of accessories and a shock of bright pink hair. One example outfit -

Personality: Mika appears to be a stereotypical gyaru - loud, brash, crass, flashy, ditzy. It's not all an act. She really is quite absent-minded; but she's also intelligent, kind and generous. She was very insecure at school, so she learned to put up a front that allowed her to choose who she would interact with, and to preempt people judging her.
For someone so petite, she has an incredible appetite, particularly for spicy food. She'll wolf down anything if it's doused with hot sauce.

Powers: Mika is able to sense, generate and manipulate electromagnetic fields. The most dramatic application of this ability is her "Left-hand Shot", named for how she literally uses Fleming's Left-hand Rule and induced Lorenz forces to accelerate a small ferrous projectile to velocities in the vicinity of 2,500 m/s (approximately Mach 8, or hypersonic). She carries a little bag of ball bearings for this purpose, which she can also use for other applications, including as a simple sap. When she wants to go more subtle though, she is also capable of reading and controlling electrical signals, for example those of RFID or credit card mag strips. She also gets great mobile reception and never wants for wi-fi.

Weakness: While her meta-ability is potentially very powerful, it is limited by a couple of factors. Firstly, she isn't intrinsically immune to the forces that she generates; while she can balance them with her power, it requires precise and careful control to make sure that she doesn't, for example, accidentally blow her own fingers off while performing her "Left-hand Shot". This tends to put a cap on how much force she can generate, and how quickly she can perform different tasks with her ability.
Secondly, while she can tap into and manipulate EM spectrum signals such as wi-fi, she has the neural bandwidth of a normal human being, if a somewhat gifted one. She's very intelligent, but she can only handle so much information at a time. She's thus normally dependent on a device such as a smartphone or laptop to process the data. So she can boost signals, or jam or warp them, or other such relatively brute-force applications, but (for example) editing herself out of a video feed would be beyond her capabilities. (Of course, her ability would synergise really well with Nikolai's genius....)

History: Kisaragi Mika hails from Yokohama, Japan - and little else is widely known about her. The Japanese policy on Supes was strict, with all metahumans registered from discovery by law, and subject to close governmental oversight. She has occasionally referred to how being a metahuman "ruined" school for her, but has not been forthcoming on just how. She is apparently still on Japanese watchlists, but is most likely in good standing, given how she has been able to leave the country to come to what's left of Metro City.

Background info, spoilers abound.

In fact, Mika is on the payroll of the Japanese state- specifically, the Intelligence and Analysis Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Her flighty demeanour meant that she wasn't the first choice of the stuffed shirts, but they didn't have that many assets available with an appropriate powerset and fluent English - who weren't also needed elsewhere as the crisis broadened. Most Japanese metahumans are under heavy protection, as they have been targeted by the invaders, and are being conserved until a plan can be formed to defeat the invasion. Meanwhile, Mika is essentially a disposable asset: valuable, but not so critical that she can't be risked. If she can deliver useful, actionable intelligence, her sacrifice will have been worth while. At least that's how the government thinks of it. Mika might not entirely agree....

Name: Nikolai Ward

Alias: Nemesis

Age: 27

Height: 5'10

Personality: Once being a generally cheerful and optimistic individual that always looked for hope even in the most dire of situations as a result of his reformation. After the attack, which killed off his only family, his personality took a dramatic shift. He became much more reserved and quiet, and no longer has the optimism he once had. He regressed back into his old self and adopted a more cynical and jaded outlook on the world.
Powers and Abilities: Nikolai's power makes him highly intelligent, much more than an ordinary person. His meta-human genetics basically turn his brain into an organic super computer, capable of wondrous feats. He used his supernatural cognitive abilities to study a variety of scientific fields, most notable engineering, physics, and human anatomy. He uses his knowledge to invent things to help others or himself, depending on the situation.

Powers: Nikolai's powers give him superhuman levels of intelligence, basically making his brain an organic supercomputer. From a young age he knew he was much smarter than ordinary people, and spent most of his childhood researching and gathering knowledge. He used his highly enhanced cognitive abilities to study and master a variety of scientific fields, most notably engineering, physics, and human anatomy. He uses his knowledge to invent things that benefit him and others depending on the situation. He also studied martial arts at a young age to defend himself in school, so he is quite skilled in unarmed combat.

Weaknesses: While Nikolai has unmatched intelligence, he is still just human. A single bullet or super-human punch can put him out of commission for good. He's also highly arrogant and often underestimates his opponents abilities, which can give the enemy an advantage.

History: Nikolai was once a meta-human criminal who used his intellect to concoct many malicious schemes that were all eventually thwarted by the heroes that resides within Metro City. But after many years of conflicts and battles he was eventually reformed by his sister, who was a vigilante herself. After willingly allowing himself to serve his six consecutive life sentences for his numerous crimes, he was instead bailed out early by the government to put his intelligence towards more humanitarian efforts. Such as developing clean energy for the city and strengthening the city's infrastructure so that heros and villains didn't destroy everything in their battles. Years later Nikolai had become a decently respected person in society, and while most vigilantes and citizens would never forgive him for the atrocities he committed, he was glad that he could make a positive difference and benefit the city, as penance for his past doings.

But after the death of his heroine sister caused in the resulting devastation of the attack, he began to regress back into his villainous ways. But it wasn't to hurt society like he did in the past, far from it in fact. No, he wanted revenge on the monsters that destroyed the city, he wanted to make them pay. And if he had to sell the rest his humanity to do it... So be it.

Name: Peter Bell

Age: 32



Appearance: Peter Bell is a lean 235 lbs at 6'1, he's in peak shape for his age and tends to exercise regularly to maintain those body habits. Due to his years in the hero industry, his body is littered with scars. He has a charismatic smile (despite having a mild gap between his buck teeth), dark brown eyes, and messy hair that he never tends to clean up.

Personality: Positive Traits- Charismatic, Cheerful, motivated/aspiring, and Enduring
Indifferent traits- Unrelenting (This can either be a downfall or a positive)
Negative Traits- Unforgiving, Stubborn, Unrealistic, and Careless


Powers: When Peter's powers first came through, many expected it to be something like superhuman strength due to his health and size. While his powers have everything to do with his body, it has very little to do with his muscles. He has the ability of bone manipulation. His bone density is at an extremely high level, allowing him to do a number of things. He can remove a bone from his body (at a sharpened point) to use it as a weapon, or soldify the bones in his body to increase the strength in his striking.

He could also use the bones in his body to form a "Shield" of armor, whether it be around his entire body in the form of a cocoon or around his arm as a combat shield.


Weakness: The onslaught on Metro City was the first time Peter's bone manipulation almost failed him. It handled the initial attack that devastated the city and killed loved ones, but it led to a decrease in his bone mass. He could only use his ability to a certain limit, and once that limit is surpassed he will be rendered useless. His body is also left feeling heavy and exhausted after combat.

History: Peter was born in the UK, but moved to Metro City after his powers came through and he received recognition by the Heroes United Organization. He came to the big city with his younger sister, Marie, whos about ten years younger than himself and always wanted to get away from the everyday troubles of their hometown. There they developed a new life together, she finished school and became a Nurse at Metro City hospital and Peter became a well known hero under the very original name, "Bones". That was when wearing a suit mattered, not so much after the incident. He was on the front lines of the Heroes United Attack, and he watched as whatever was out there devastated their ranks. He heard their cries for help behind his cocoon, until finally all went silent. He would, eventually, collapse. Waking up to the sound of first responders on the scene in hazmat suits, cutting through the deteriorating shield of bones and taking him away from the scene (along with any other lucky survivors).

He was unable to speak or move, and for the first time in his life he felt useless. But none of that matter, all he could think about was his younger sister. Weeks went by, of listening to the news without being able to utter a word or move a muscle in his body. Hearing about the loss of life, knowing he was rendered useless and couldn't do anything about it. He could feel the anger bubbling within, raging. So the day a doctor came in and he mustered his strength to speak, the first thing he asked about was Metro City Hospital. Only to hear that the hospital was in pieces, and very few survived. His sister not being one of them.

Now, he lives everyday undercover, which as you could guess isn't too hard to do since "Bones" walked around in a shield of bones. For the time being though, those days are over. Peter can only wish that one day he could potentially get revenge, but from here on out he wants to be known as Peter Bell. A normal human, that wants no trouble with anyone, or anything. At least until the heroes climb out of the rubble, and then when duty calls, he will be the first to answer.

@Ariel I like the path of your character thus far. Though there is potential for her to be a bit OP, but I'm waiting to see the completion of the CS before getting too deeply into that. Outside of that everything looks great.

I expected I would have completed my own CS by now but I've been a bit busy, so hopefully by tonight it should be completed and posted. Also I'm adding a poll to see if discord or Iwaku is the preffered staging ground for the OOC

Personality:
Adaptable, sly, highly versatile, street-smart, and book-dumb, Nathaniel is quite pragmatic and efficient in most situations. But despite the traits that derived from his professionalism, he is still somewhat childlike and self-centered at times, though it may be partially due to being stuck in as a kid. He quite literally "acts his (apparent) age" and can fluctuate between being fairly stoic to acting childish depending on what form he is forced to take on, though sometimes these traits can transcend his physical form as well.

Powers:
A power that fits his former superhero alias "Luminary", Nathaniel has the ability to augment and solidify light, creating geometric constructs out of them. In the past, he has the ability to augment light itself into various solid constructs known as "condensed constructs", and non-solid energy orbs and beams known as "refracted projectiles". Originally, these two types of powers can be used simultaneously and continuously, but ever since the incident, the type of power Nathaniel could use became tied to his physical form.

Condensed constructs can take the form of various melee weapons such as spears, swords, chains or blunt objects. They are weightless and can be constructed and deconstructed at will, but will disappear automatically if they are too far away from Nathaniel.
Refracted projectiles are not solid, and instead are concentrated light that can burn or send out shockwaves if hit. They are not the most powerful thing in the world though.
Both abilities' strength and size depend on how much light is present in the surroundings.

Nathaniel's family life is kind of an oxymoron, it was well-known and enigmatic at the same time. Coming from a wealthy pharmaceutical business family that excelled financially and politically, he was always kind of a disappointment, rowdy, poor at academics, and shunned by his high-expectations parents. Despite those shortcomings, Nathaniel "Luminary" Tollens was a rising star superhero who was gaining popularity thanks to his flashy power and versatile style, having developed powers since birth he lived an excitement-filled life as a young prodigious meta-human showered with praise and admiration. This was up until he was defeated, kidnapped, and used as a subject for researching "combined superpowers".

This was when things went south, after an extended time of imprisonment in dark dark places, Nathaniel one day woke up to see that he has de-aged about 20 years: a result of having genetic material of a temporal power user being incorporated into his body. At first, being pretty callous at comprehending science, Nathaniel assumed it was some sort of immortality, until it was found that when he uses his own powers full swing, it overwrites the de-aging and reverts him back to his true age.

Despite the inconvenient nature of this change, Nathaniel more or less embraced it after his escape from the facility, adapting to this peculiar change and using it to lay low as he hid away from the world. Until the world seemingly ended that is. Regardless of the state of the world, he never gave up searching for a way to remove the temporal curse and returning to his true body permanently, immortality be damned.

Tollens Pharmaceuticals Controversey

A controversy that was sourced from an industry whistleblower in 2040, which revealed that the pharmaceutical giant was secretly researching drugs pertaining to metahumans. This included but not limited to: methods to nullify meta abilities, temporarily and permanently; artificially granting non-metahumans meta abilities; transplanting meta abilities between individuals. The nature of this research and its systematic preying on low-income metahumans sparked massive controversy and fear-mongering.

An executive officer of the company, Theodore Tollens, dismissed most claims for unethical, unconstitutional research on the grounds of an unreliable source. The anonymous whistleblower, two weeks after the conference, claimed that their identity was Nathaniel Tollens, the third son of the family and youngest brother of Theodore Tollens. He further claims that the family barred him from public appearances and from claiming relation because his meta abilities altered his appearance to not resemble them.

This sparked a plethora of conspiracy theories, various baseless claims, and more, but it soon died down after silence from both parties on the topic. A government audit of Tollens Pharmaceuticals was planned to be conducted, but never went through.

Near the same time as the height of the controversy, "Luminary", a superhero and Youtuber, appeared to have ceased activity mysteriously. A small group of fans speculated that Luminary's true identity may be Nathaniel Tollens, as various videos have shown Luminary claiming that his "hair color is natural", a "result of his powers", and "the rest of his family have dark/reddish-brown hair", along with other hints about the super's personal life. This, however, was treated as another conspiracy theory and never gained much traction.

Name: Edward Pavel de Von Farbe II / The Rainbow Magician

Age: 28

Personality:
Edward is a friendly, eccentric man who lives to entertain. Charismatic and exciting, Edward is always looking to put on a show, oftentimes to the dismay of his allies and those around him.

Powers:
The Rainbow Magician is a man of many talents, but his greatest is his color manipulation. As described, Edward is able to instantly change the color of anything he touches, transforming it in color as much or as little as he likes. This makes for incredible magical tricks, as well as setups for daring escapes and unpredictable maneuvers his audience or enemies would not expect.

Outside of his powers, Edward has a set of items he keeps on his person at all times. These are just as important to him as his own ability. They are: an ordinary pack of cards, an expanding wand, a rose in his breast pocket that spits water,a weighted coin, combusting smoke paper, a fake cigarette, and a pair of dice. With these items alone, Edward can be both talented magician and dangerous metahuman alike.

Weakness: Edward relies heavily on his props in order to perform his stunts. Without them, the Rainbow Magician will often find himself limited and cornered, forcing him to improvise. Apart from his reliance on his possessions, Edward must come in contact with his target to change its color. If he can't reach it, he will have no effect.

History:

Edward Pavel de Von Farbe II. A hero to few, a Magician to many. The Rainbow Magician comes from a family of circus performers, many who were also heroes. However for most of them, they chose the hero life first. And so, as is the nature of such work, few lived to grow old. Edward was different, however. He loved magic more than anything in the world. He knew it was his destiny and duty to serve the people as a hero, but he wanted to perform more than anything else. As such, Edward wasn't much of a hero at all. He did his hero work where he could, but most of his time was spent as the world's greatest entertainer. Edward believed he could bring joy and happiness to the people, and in a world so dark, perhaps his acts and shows could save them that way.

When Metro City came under attack, Edward had been on his Rainbow Magic World Tour, a show that began in London and ended in Nairobi. It had been his dream to perform all over the world, particularly for audiences of different nationalities. And yet upon receiving the tragic news, the young magician knew his hiatus from real work had come to an end. It was time to return home. After making a public announcement and apologizing for having to cancel the remainder of his shows, Edward returned to what remained of his hometown. He did not know what was to come, but a gnawing feeling inside him warned that this was likely only the beginning.

As described, Edward is able to instantly change the color of anything he touches, transforming it in color as much or as little as he likes. This makes for incredible magical tricks, as well as setups for daring escapes and unpredictable maneuvers his audience or enemies would not expect.

Outside of his powers, Edward has a set of items he keeps on his person at all times. These are just as important to him as his own ability. They are: an ordinary pack of cards, an expanding wand, a rose in his breast pocket that spits water,a weighted coin, combusting smoke paper, a fake cigarette, and a pair of dice. With these items alone, Edward can be both talented magician and dangerous metahuman alike.

Weakness: Edward relies heavily on his props in order to perform his stunts. Without them, the Rainbow Magician will often find himself limited and cornered, forcing him to improvise. Apart from his reliance on his possessions, Edward must come in contact with his target to change its color. If he can't reach it, he will have no effect.

History:

Edward Pavel de Von Farbe II. A hero to few, a Magician to many. The Rainbow Magician comes from a family of circus performers, many who were also heroes. However for most of them, they chose the hero life first. And so, as is the nature of such work, few lived to grow old. Edward was different, however. He loved magic more than anything in the world. He knew it was his destiny and duty to serve the people as a hero, but he wanted to perform more than anything else. As such, Edward wasn't much of a hero at all. He did his hero work where he could, but most of his time was spent as the world's greatest entertainer. Edward believed he could bring joy and happiness to the people, and in a world so dark, perhaps his acts and shows could save them that way.

When Metro City came under attack, Edward had been on his Rainbow Magic World Tour, a show that began in London and ended in Nairobi. It had been his dream to perform all over the world, particularly for audiences of different nationalities. And yet upon receiving the tragic news, the young magician knew his hiatus from real work had come to an end. It was time to return home. After making a public announcement and apologizing for having to cancel the remainder of his shows, Edward returned to what remained of his hometown. He did not know what was to come, but a gnawing feeling inside him warned that this was likely only the beginning.

This is such an interesting character in both powers and backstory. I'm genuinely interested to see how you write him and how he interacts with other characters. Definitely accepted!

Name: Kisaragi Mika 如月美香

Age: Who knows? Mika can convincingly pass as being anywhere from middle school age to her mid-20s.

Appearance: Mika has a lot of looks, but as a gyaru she's almost always flamboyant and flashy, with loads of accessories and a shock of bright pink hair. One example outfit -

Personality: Mika appears to be a stereotypical gyaru - loud, brash, crass, flashy, ditzy. It's not all an act. She really is quite absent-minded; but she's also intelligent, kind and generous. She was very insecure at school, so she learned to put up a front that allowed her to choose who she would interact with, and to preempt people judging her.
For someone so petite, she has an incredible appetite, particularly for spicy food. She'll wolf down anything if it's doused with hot sauce.

Powers: Mika is able to sense, generate and manipulate electromagnetic fields. The most dramatic application of this ability is her "Left-hand Shot", named for how she literally uses Fleming's Left-hand Rule and induced Lorenz forces to accelerate a small ferrous projectile to velocities in the vicinity of 2,500 m/s (approximately Mach 8, or hypersonic). She carries a little bag of ball bearings for this purpose, which she can also use for other applications, including as a simple sap. When she wants to go more subtle though, she is also capable of reading and controlling electrical signals, for example those of RFID or credit card mag strips. She also gets great mobile reception and never wants for wi-fi.

Weakness: While her meta-ability is potentially very powerful, it is limited by a couple of factors. Firstly, she isn't intrinsically immune to the forces that she generates; while she can balance them with her power, it requires precise and careful control to make sure that she doesn't, for example, accidentally blow her own fingers off while performing her "Left-hand Shot". This tends to put a cap on how much force she can generate, and how quickly she can perform different tasks with her ability.
Secondly, while she can tap into and manipulate EM spectrum signals such as wi-fi, she has the neural bandwidth of a normal human being, if a somewhat gifted one. She's very intelligent, but she can only handle so much information at a time. She's thus normally dependent on a device such as a smartphone or laptop to process the data. So she can boost signals, or jam or warp them, or other such relatively brute-force applications, but (for example) editing herself out of a video feed would be beyond her capabilities. (Of course, her ability would synergise really well with Nikolai's genius....)

History: Kisaragi Mika hails from Yokohama, Japan - and little else is widely known about her. The Japanese policy on Supes was strict, with all metahumans registered from discovery by law, and subject to close governmental oversight. She has occasionally referred to how being a metahuman "ruined" school for her, but has not been forthcoming on just how. She is apparently still on Japanese watchlists, but is most likely in good standing, given how she has been able to leave the country to come to what's left of Metro City.

Background info, spoilers abound.

In fact, Mika is on the payroll of the Japanese state- specifically, the Intelligence and Analysis Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Her flighty demeanour meant that she wasn't the first choice of the stuffed shirts, but they didn't have that many assets available with an appropriate powerset and fluent English - who weren't also needed elsewhere as the crisis broadened. Most Japanese metahumans are under heavy protection, as they have been targeted by the invaders, and are being conserved until a plan can be formed to defeat the invasion. Meanwhile, Mika is essentially a disposable asset: valuable, but not so critical that she can't be risked. If she can deliver useful, actionable intelligence, her sacrifice will have been worth while. At least that's how the government thinks of it. Mika might not entirely agree....

I'm not the biggest fan of surprises but this one was thankfully a pleasant one lol. Seems like we have quite the colourful (no pun intended) cast of characters. Accepted! We're just waiting for the last person who expressed interest and we're ready to go.

Her personal philosophy is that it's always the darkest before the dawn, and she does her best to remain optimistic even when the cards are stacked against her. Humble and generous, there are few things that Missy wouldn't do for a friend or loved one. While all of her positive attributes may be admirable, Missy can be too idealistic. She is far too trusting, bordering on naive, and has gotten herself into sticky situations by not speaking up or enforcing her own boundaries. She has a tendency to be indecisive, and when hurt, will wallow if given the chance.

Powers:

- Sound wave generation: Missy has the power to generate and project sound waves. These waves can be used defensively to either to induce pain in enemies, or as a concussive force. They can also be used offensively by way of repulsion.​

- Sonic scream: Missy's main power comes from her mouth. Her sound attacks come in the form of an extremely powerful high-amplitude scream that can shatter glass, destroy structures and harm enemies.​

Weakness:
Being young and relatively untested, Missy lacks full control over her powers to begin with, but her powerful vocal chords also have their shortcomings. Her sonic screams can be countered by tangible means, such as sound absorption, or when up against an enemy who is immune to sound. The sound waves she emits have the chance of reflecting, in which case, they can bounce back and hurt her or unintentionally destroy other objects. There is also the simple fact that if Missy is gagged, or rendered unconscious and unable to use her mouth, she becomes utterly useless in a fight.

Born outside of Salem, in Oregon, Missy's father walked out on the family shortly after her first birthday, leaving her mother single and struggling. Trying to care for a meta was more than the young woman could handle, and just before Missy entered first grade, she was sent to Metro City to live with her grandmother.

Abandoned by her mother, grandma Pearl, was a kind and patient woman who had enough love to spare. Although Pearl didn't understand Missy's powers, she encouraged her to embrace them and even try to use them for good. Missy was too shy to ever go public with her abilities, but when Metro City came under attack and the supes that she had quietly looked up to for years ceased to be, she felt called to act. She left her biology studies at the university and sought what was left of Heroes United.

She doesn't know what the future has in store, or if she's even cut out to save the world, but Missy knows that she would never forgive herself if she didn't try.

Okay guys I do believe we have a full house now so I can put a wrap on the signups. We're looking like a very interesting group of planetery defenders for sure, so I can't wait to dive into the story. Based on the results of the poll, it seems like Discord is by far the preferred venue for the OOC so I've set up a server for this RP. I know Ariel indicated she isn't on there often so if necessary I'll make important updates on here as well so no one's out of the loop. I'm also getting to work on the opening IC post so that should be up sometime this week. I can't wait to get the story going! Feel free to ask any questions or make plot suggestions whether on here or discord. I'm open to both!

We are officially a go! The IC is up and ready for you guys to start posting when you're ready. My intial post is a bit on the longer side to establish the tone and state of the world, but there's no need to feel pressured into writing an epistle as well unless it's what you're feeling (who knows for some of you that may have even been a short Introduction post). The early objective of our characters will be getting to the research base in metro city where they will all meet up, so you can work that into your character intros however you'd like.
