Let's take our hearts for a walk into the woods
GLASSWICK
Once upon a time,
There were humans and there were Everafters, people, and creatures documented by famous writers. The world had been full of wonder and magic, living alongside humans peacefully until with more time these Everafters came dangers, causes of destruction, differences, and the most terrifying of all … the unknown.
The tension between humans and Everafters thickened over time. Negative views were built and then those views turned into a stark and clear prejudice. Humans turned against Everafters, persecuting them and running them out of their homes.
However, the two brothers Wilhelm and Jacob Grimm helped these Everafters. In the early 1800s, over seas, meadows, and mountains, ahead of rivers and beyond valleys, they founded the town of Glasswick in America. A safe haven for all Everafters.
They fled their hardships from all corners of the world to settle in the town. And for a while, peace was once again found. With time and the influence of magic, humans began to forget that the Everafters were real.
But that peace only lasted so long before Everafters made threats and plan to conquer and take human settlements nearby by force. In response, Wilhelm, with the help of Baba Yaga, placed a magic barrier surrounding the town and successfully kept all Everafters from harming humans and leaving the town.
For many, what once was a safe haven, had become a prison and a curse. Forgotten to be true stories and real by the humans, they were known as nothing but fairy tales to tell their children. And now, after hundreds of years of quiet, there are members brewing trouble from the shadows and slowly but surely, their voices are becoming louder.
The town is without a doubt a magic one. Some places are known to be a little dangerous, such as deep within the woods of, the sea it sits next to, and other natural locations. Most of the population consists of Everafters, but there are a few humans who live there as well. Though the magic of the town mostly repels humans and keeps them from showing any interest in living there or noticing any oddities.
Many can and have taken human appearances to blend in, but they are all unlike humans in many ways. All Everafters possess magic, though, most is limited to one ability. And they do not age unless their magic is weakened or through other means of magic. Other than that, they are just as vulnerable and mortal as any other human.
Of course, there are Everafters who can use mana, allowing them to cast spells, incantations, blessings, etc. They are able to use and manipulate their mana, using magic in different ways as they had within their history. These Everafters are spellcasters (witches, wizards, warlocks, enchanter/enchantress, etc).
But with their strength comes disadvantages. Mana is not limitless, restricting the amount and magnitude of spells they can use. Most spellcasting Everafters must use a medium (wand, staff, ring, etc) to channel their magic and perform spells. And if not done right it can result in side effects.
There are magical items that can be used by anyone despite being magic practitioners or not. Such as items that were within their tales (Dorthy's shoes, Drink Me and Eat Me in Alice in Wonderland, etc). However, it can be dangerous in many ways if not careful. There are some, humans and Everafter's both, who have a bad reaction to magic. After coming in contact with it, using it, they become addicted. The term referring to this addiction is called Touched.
1. First, foremost, and obviously; all Iwaku rules apply, and follow them through, please, and thank you.
2. All characters must be 18+.
3. Ask for my approval for a character and their magic power before posting them. Please remember that their abilities are not meant to be very powerful, they are meant to be subdued, as magic is not the sole purpose of characters and their stories.
4. Characters must have an original written text. While your characters' stories can be heavily based on and inspired by movies or other popular or unpopular renditions like Disney, Dreamwork, etc, we are doing actual fairy tales and the like and not Disney movies.
5. No historical characters (e.g. Pocahontas, Anastasia) or mythology to do with Gods (e.g Hercules).
6. Respect me as the GM and the rules I put in place. On that note, respect every other player too. Treat people as you would like to be treated. Ill behavior OOC can and will get you removed, as well as if you drag that ill behavior into IC.
7. No god-modding, power play, and Mary/Gary Sues. Please ask permission before making a major move against another character or in the story in general.
8. Sex scenes are not allowed, they must fade to black or be taken to PMs. However, they cannot happen between a Bluestar and Redstar member. These are the Iwaku rules.
9. You may only play up to 10 characters. First come, first served.
-- When making a character, remember rules 3, 4 and 5.
-- You can make up to 10 characters.
-- When making characters from POC backgrounds, do not change their race. Otherwise, you can change almost anything about characters, including their genders.
-- If you're making a character from the same story as another, please discuss with them so you are both are aware of what version of the story you're going with a\so that it stays consistent.
-- You can use your own code or add extra information to the character sheet as long as you still use the information I ask for below.

LORE
Glasswick
Glasswick, Oregon. A small coastal town consisting of the largest Everafter population and the setting of the story. It is a pretty town located just a few hours away from the state capital. It mainly consists of farmland, forest and private property, not large enough to gain a lot of attention and attraction. Yet, big enough to have its own hospital, stations, and theme parks.
Everafters
The characters documented by writers (e.g Brothers Grimm. Hans Christian Anderson.) from fairy tales, folklore, and legends. They hail from all over the world and scattered all across the world, living amongst humans, though the largest population is within Glasswick. Many can and have taken human appearances to blend in, but they are all unlike humans in many ways. All Everafters possess magic, though, most is limited to one ability. And they do not age unless their magic is weakened or through other means of magic. Other than that, they are just as vulnerable and mortal as any other human.
Magic
Magic everywhere in Glasswick. In the town, the people, pecial artifacts, the woods, all around Glasswick. It's what prevents Everafters from leaving the town, from being put under suspicion by humans and dying. And Every Everafter possesses magic manifesting in the form of small abilities known as gifts to them. All of their magic pertains to their character and/or role within their history. (e.g Snow White can speak to animals, Ice Queen can generate ice, ??).Of course, there are Everafters who can use mana, allowing them to cast spells, incantations, blessings, etc. They are able to use and manipulate their mana, using magic in different ways as they had within their history. These Everafters are spellcasters (witches, wizards, warlocks, enchanter/enchantress, etc).

Barrier
The magic barrier has the entire town of Glasswick surrounded. No Everafter is able to escape as long as a Grimm family member lives, from their understanding. So, while the Everafters can get in, they cannot get out. This knowledge has made many of the Everafters hostiles toward the Grimm family and humans.RULES
