"When there's darkness and blizzards all around you, that's when your inner fire should blaze the brightest!"
NAME: Hestia Quintell
AGE: Twenty-three years old.
GYM TYPE: Fire
HAIR COLOR: Rose gold
EYE COLOR: Violet
WEIGHT: 147 lbs
SKIN COMPLEXION: Cream
BODY COMPOSITION: Skinny
CHOICE OF APPAREL: Even though Hestia comes from place with a cold climate, she hardly ever wears sweaters and coats. She's most often seen wearing a sleeveless black turtleneck with an amber teardrop necklace and some simple denim jeans. When in sub-zero temperatures, she's sometimes forced to wear a long, white fur coat that reaches behind her knees, though she always removes this when in battle.
During the summer, she's seen wearing tanktops, dresses, short shorts, sneakers, and other outdoorsy choices of clothing.
PERSONALITY: Hestia is a flamboyant young woman-- an individual with what seems like an endless source of energy. She appears to be passionate about everything, no matter what it is, and her curiosity often drives her to be overbearing and overeager. Among the rest of the gym leaders, she is arguably one of the most active in the public eye, and can usually be seen roaming around Galar on her off time. Despite her fiery attitude, along with her being a giant show off, Hestia is actually quite friendly and accepting of those who respect her.
Ambition is one of the things that drives Hestia past her boiling point much of the time. She strives to be the future champion and while she admires the rest of her colleagues, she believes she has the potential to be a better champion than all of them could be. Because of this, she often challenges them to battles. When she loses such a battle, her fiery attitude sometimes melts away; there have been times where she hides away in Circhester after a defeat, even after battles with aspiring Gym Challenge trainers.
BIOGRAPHY: Hestia was born in Circhester to a very loving couple. Her father was a humble lowland farmer, while her mother worked as a nurse's assistant at the local Pokemon Center. Because of this, her parents were almost always busy-- but luckily, she had her elder brothers to play and go on adventures with. Her eldest brother, Kenneth, always brought her along when her two other brothers were reluctant to take care of their little sister. Kenneth was the one that taught her a lot of what she currently knows about Pokemon-- where they're found, what they like to eat, and how to take care of them. When her parents were around, they would further explain what Kenneth taught her, which earned her quite the knowledge of Pokemon when she was around eleven or twelve.
It was when she was fourteen that she told her parents that she wasn't interested in being a farmer or a nurse. Instead, she wanted to go on her own journey and begin the Gym Challenge herself. While disappointed, they decided that they would let Hestia follow her dreams and strive for something greater. Unfortunately, Kenneth stayed behind, but gave her a parting gift; a very heavy Pokemon egg. And so, Hestia was off on her journey.
During her travels, Hestia had discovered that, while she had been surrounded by Ice-Type Pokemon all of her life, she had little to no interest in their fighting style. They were too delicate and fancy, more like glass cannons than anything. As her rivals began to pick and choose what typings to focus on, she found that she harbored a deep passion for Fire-Types-- their fiery attitudes and behaviors inspired to keep on pushing on, no matter what the cost. And, as if premediated by some otherworldly force, Kenneth's egg hatched to reveal a Charmander inside. With her team of Fire-Types, Hestia quite literally blazed up the ranks, and many thought that she would crush her rivals and take the spot of the current Champion herself.
The time came when her final challenge laid at her feet. Hestia was certain of her future victory, and her mind became filled with visions of grandeur and celebration. What would she do when she was Champion? Would she have time for fun and games? Or would she have to spend much of her time making public appearances and announcements and interviews? No matter the case, she was excited for what the future held for her. Unfortunately for her, this momentary bliss would not come through to reality. She lost in the final battle against her rival, and was left in the dust.
Hestia returned home to Circhester and spent a long time working with her mother at the Pokemon Center. Even though her spirit had been crushed, helping her mom out with her job and getting to lend a hand to injured Pokemon calmed her down a little. Years passed, and as Hestia grew older, she also became very bored with her job. Deep inside, a passion was being reignited. Spending much of her free time around her Pokemon only fueled it further, and after a long time of thinking, she decided to set out again. However, this time she had a clear goal in mind-- instead of becoming a champion, she could be a Gym Leader.
She spent about four years out on the field and honing her skills with Fire-Type Pokemon before she came back to Circhester to start a Fire-Type Gym. Currently, Hestia lives by herself within the same city, though she is usually not found there when she has free time away from her duties as a Gym Leader.
Apollo (Gigantimax Charizard)- Apollo is one of Hestia's main team's combatants, and he pretty much knows it. He has a cocky, arrogant attitude that can be hard to deal with at times.
Hades (Houndoom)- Despite being a Fire-Type, Hades is quite calm and aloof in temperament and is quite literally Hestia's shadow.
Dazzler (Salazzle)-Dazzler is quite the voracious eater and always demands attention-- because of this, she's almost as flamboyant and flashy as Hestia is. She has a bitter rivalry with Apollo.
Spitfire (Pyroar)- Spitfire is another of Hestia's Pokemon that has something to prove. As her trainer's youngest Pokemon, she has a little difficulty following directions, but is very affectionate towards her partners.
Sunburst (Volcarona)- Possibly the most quiet and timid Pokemon on Hestia's teams. He doesn't like fighting, but he always wants cuddles. It's a good thing that he's so fluffy and warm.
Nova (Flareon)- Nova is another of Hestia's Pokemon that constantly demands attention, but he's rather calm and is a perfect lap Pokemon.
Quiver (Talonflame)- Quiver is an aloof Talonflame, having had quite the hard time as a wild Pokemon in his past. He doesn't really know how to have fun.
Torch (Centiskorch)- Quiver's rival, and a rather grumpy Fire-type. He hates being bested, no matter if there's type advantages or not.
Aries (Arcanine)- He's a bit lazy, but gets the work done when he has to.
Ignis (Pyroar)- Spitfire's brother. He's more down-to-earth than she is, and they often swap spots between one another depending on how Hestia wants to handle her battles.
Vulcan (Typhlosion)- A huge sweetheart and probably the Pokemon who sucks up to Hestia the most. He's a little protective over her, and gets jealous when he sees others get too close to her.
Arrow (Fletchinder)- Arrow's a little timid, though he always looks for opportunities to impress his trainer.
Trailblazer (Rapidash)- one of the most passionate and wild of Hestia's Pokemon, Trailblazer is the type of Pokemon who isn't knocked out easily. She doesn't let anyone else ride her but Hestia herself, even if they share a saddle.
Etna (Charmeleon)- Apollo's adopted little sister. She's a curious Charmeleon, and often gets into trouble. Sometimes, she can be found in the strangest of places...
Wisp (Lampent)- A scaredy-cat. Hestia jokes that it's funny that he's partially Ghost-type, but is scared of his own shadow.
Smokey (Houndour)- Smokey is the eldest of Hestia's youngest Pokemon, and he kind of knows he's the leader among his peers. He can be a bit of a snob sometimes.
Bandit (Salandit)- Bandit's name really fits him. He's very much a troublemaker, and only pays attention to Hestia because she gives him snacks.
Tobu (Larvesta)- Tobu's a cuddly guy, but he's always out for attention. He's known for poking out of his Pokeball so he could curl up on Hestia's lap or crawl up to her shoulder.
"You think you're hot shite, don't you? A good jolt ought to put you in your place."
NAME: Rai Yalden
GYM TYPE: Electric
HAIR COLOR: Blonde
EYE COLOR: Crimson
WEIGHT: 151 lbs
SKIN COMPLEXION: Fair
BODY COMPOSITION: Skinny
CHOICE OF APPAREL: Rai is often seen wearing different types of fashionable clothing, though this never seems to be dresses or skirts. She has a preference for skinny jeans and boots or heels, along with tanktops, croptops, and leather jackets. She keeps her hair tossed to one side and bears several pearl piercings-- one at her navel and the other one in the middle of her tongue. Her hands bear several rings ranging in size and shape, though they all seem to be made of metals like silver and copper.
PERSONALITY: Rai is a woman of few words; rather quiet, she rather speak when she is spoken to or asked questions. Even then, she usually responds in only a few words, and nothing else. Aloof and distant, Rai prefers to be alone than with others, choosing to spend her time riding her motorcycle throughout the countryside. Her hobbies include going on single person pub crawls and spending time with her Pokemon. When she isn't out, she spends much of her free time in front of the television screen. Rai is also overly serious and dry, and often doesn't understand humor. She has an incredible amount of patience, but one better be careful when it runs out...
She really doesn't like being in the spotlight, and reporters have more or less stopped trying to interview her. When Rai is finally caught by the news, she's prone to answer questions in a word or two rather than give explanations. This reveals that, despite Rai's tough exterior, she's actually somewhat timid and shy.
BIOGRAPHY: Unfortunately for Rai, she didn't really have a good childhood. Her father ditched her mother when she became pregnant with her, and soon after she was born, her mother sent her out for adoption. For years, she drifted from foster home to foster home, with none of the families wanting to take her in. They were either too poor, too busy, or gave her back for some other reason. The other children at the adoption center would always bully her atop everything, and she had to steel herself in order stay afloat. One of the only things that kept her sane was the relationship she had with Pokemon, specifically with a stray Shinx she used to feed in the late night hours behind the home.
Rai wasn't ever adopted, and when she was 18 she was tossed onto the streets. She knew she had to work in order to survive, so she helped out at a local trainer's school, with the Luxio from before trailing behind her like a hungry puppy. She decided to keep him, and both of them worked at the school as Rai herself became experienced with training and keeping Pokemon. Eventually she went on to challenge the Galar League, only to come up a bit short and lose the very first battle of the Champion's Cup. But Rai wouldn't stop there-- she was determined to make something of herself in the world of Pokemon, no matter what. Her hard work eventually paid off when she was offered a position as a minor league gym leader, which she has been holding for about five years.
Amperian (Luxray)- Rai's main Pokemon on her team. He shares most of Rai's personality, and the two make quite the duo.
Watts (Raichu)- Watts is another strong member of Rai's team. She's rather girly and likes shiny things, and often flirts around with Amperian.
Joule (Ampharos)- quite an adventorous Ampharos, Joule likes spending time at Rai's side and outside of his Pokeball. You can see him ride around with her on her motorcycle.
Unagi (Elektross)- Unagi's the grumpiest member of Rai's main team, and prefers to stay far away from the main group.
Volt (Galvantula)- a total sweetheart, Volt is the type of Pokemon to show that she cares. When anyone on her team gets hurt, she's the first at their side to make sure they're alright.
Romper (Dracozolt)- Volt's best friend, even though she isn't that smart. She makes up for her lack of intelligence with pure strength.
Zap (Yamper)- Rai's mascot and a total cutie-patootie.
Byte (Joltik)- the ultimate cuddlemaster, Byte likes spending his time camping out in Rai's hair.
Pixel (Pikachu)- a cocky handful, Pixel is the main threat on Rai's beginner team.
Tracer (Boltund)- overly energetic and eager to please, Tracer's speed is the only one out of Rai's team that rivals Amperian's.
Mary (Flaafy)- somewhat nervous, Mary looks up to the rest of Rai's teams and tries to learn from them.
Sparks (Jolteon)- Pixel's rival and Amperian's apprentice. He has a lot to live up to, and is determined to take Pixel's place as head honcho on the team.
Pixel (Gigantamax Pikachu)- Rai decides to Gigantamax Pixel in order to give her opponents a hard time.
Photon (Alolan Raichu)- Watts' younger brother. Unlike her, he likes to fight and is very arrogant.
Amp (Arctozolt)- possibly Rai's most aggressive Pokemon on her team. He has something to prove, and Arceus knows he'll prove it.
”Yer here for a battle, aye? Fine, fine. Then let’s see if you can keep up with me in the open sky!”
NAME: Fiona MacConnell
GYM TYPE: Flying
Stands at about 5’8”. Skin is fair, long blonde hair, has a lithe build. Somewhat toned, moderate bust.
Typically wears casual clothing such as plain T-shirts and jeans, but makes the token effort of putting on a fashionable jacket. Always seen with a pair of flying goggles around her head, for use in the skies.
When the occasion calls for it, has a full Sky Trainer glider suit for both Sky Battles and official appearances as a Gym Leader.
Speaks with a Scottish Crown Tundra accent.
A free spirit by all accounts, Fiona prefers not to be burdened by much outside of her Pokemon and her Gym. She’s relaxed and lackadaisical, unconcerned with what others think so long as she’s satisfied with her own performance. She’s a wanderer at heart, spending much of her time outside of League-mandated Gym battles soaring the skies of Galar atop one of her many Flying Pokemon.
Despite her carefree nature, or, as some would believe, because of it, Fiona is a hard book to read. It’s difficult to accurately get a handle on what she wants or is thinking, and she tends to just go with the flow much of the time.
Of course, that isn’t to say there isn’t a brain underneath all the laziness and aimless wandering. She’s a quick wit when she’s forced to be, and aims for efficiency in what she does, so as to better get things over with and go back to a state of relaxation.
While born in the icy southern town of Freezington, Fiona only spent a portion of her early years there. By the age of nine, she moved with her family to Kalos for a number of years on account of her parents’ work. It was in Kalos that Fiona saw her first Sky Battle, inspiring a love of Flying Pokemon and the open sky itself that she carries to this day.
During her stay in Kalos, Fiona became a certified Sky Trainer by her teenage years along with her regular schooling before her family returned to Galar. Upon finishing high school, Fiona immediately set out on that year’s Gym Challenge, wanting to explore the homeland she’d spent most of her teenage years out of. She won her eight badges handily enough, but was knocked out in the semi-finals of the Champion’s Cup.
Losing didn’t particularly bother Fiona. Hell, she’d gotten further than she’d expected herself. And being Champion was a burden she wouldn’t have really wanted anyway. Interviews, public appearances, actual duties? No thanks. So with a smile and a shrug, Fiona decided to continue her journey, spending the next few years traveling from region to region, honing her skills and learning about different varieties of Flying Pokemon while exploring all she wanted to.
It was on a break from her journey back home in Galar that Fiona was approached to become a Gym Leader by one of the current Leaders looking to retire. While initially resistant to the idea of being tied down in one place, she was eventually convinced by the prospect of advancing the prestige of Flying Pokemon in Galar, as well as possibly bringing her favored hobby, Sky Battles, to the region. So with yet another shrug, Fiona stepped into the next chapter of her life.
Raptor: (Gigantamax) Corviknight - Fiona's starter and her oldest companion. Stoic and resolute, she watches over the rest of the flock and can be counted on to mediate disputes among the crew. The strongest Pokemon on the team by official League metrics, thanks to her Gigantamax form. Lightning: Noivern - Wild, hyperactive, and mischievous. He has a need for speed and loves to show said speed off, always eager for a battle or a race. Flanker: Gliscor - Relaxed and cheerful. The one closest to her own trainer's temperament on the team. Berkut: Talonflame - Egotistical. Preens a lot. Has a tendency to show off during battle and be the most visually spectacular among Fiona's team. Hornet: Yanmega - The quiet one. Doesn't interact much with the rest of the crew, but mostly out of nervousness due to being Fiona's newest addition, and due to the Bug type's inherent weakness to the Flying type. Felon: (Mega) Salamence - The true ace of Fiona's squad. Arrogant and bloodthirsty, but still loyal to Fiona and his fellow Pokemon on the team. Unfortunately, never gets the chance to show off his real strength in Galar League battles due to a ban on Mega Evolution and the League's preference for Dynamaxing.
(Gigantamax) Corviknight: Typically one of the Gym Corviknights that Fiona is training on behalf of the Flying Taxi service. Raptor very rarely gets brought out during a Gym Challenge, and only if the challenger is already blatantly overqualified for the level they're supposed to be at.
Aerodactyl (Excluded at 6 badges)
Archeops (Excluded at 3 badges)
Doduo (excluded at 0 badges)
Makes her best effort to be friendly and approachable to her colleagues and have cordial relationships with them. Her carefree nature and lack of actual interest in the Champion title might rub some the wrong way, though, giving off the impression that she doesn’t care about her job.
Hestia: "Love the lass, we hang out a lot. Though I wish she didn't flip her shite every time she loses a big match. Needs tae relax more."
Rai: "Bit prickly, that one. She don't like tae open up much, almost never takes my invitation to drink together. Almost."
Ezran: "Good tunes. Think he's a bit up his own arse about how people react tae Poison types, but good man nonetheless."
Silas: "Havin' a Dragon-type myself, I can respect th' madman who trains a whole Gym of 'em. Definitely a good showman out on th' pitch, and strong tae boot."
Malik: "Fockin' bastard suckered me into this job. Don't mind him otherwise, but sometimes I wish he ain't sought me out fer this."
Clorin: "I like that he knows how tae have a good time, but fock me, he's a right cunt on th' pitch. How in hell are ya gonna call yerself th' strongest Gym Leader an' be first up in line?"
Nordrin: "We really gotta talk about this? Fine, fine. I know he's a bit of a cunt...okay, not just a bit. But there's a good man under there. He gives a
shite. I just think he gives too damn much of one to make time fer much else in life. And don't ye go reading too much into that."
Iris: "Right cute lass, that one. All those rumors're bloody stupid, but I like it when she fucks about and plays along. We're good friends, too. I like tae drag her out fer a night on th' town every now an' then."
Fraye: "Now there's a swell lad. Always happy an' up fer a good time. Just my style. Plus, he's my favorite drinkin' partner of the lot."
Thomas: "Good head on his shoulders. I agree with his philosophy, more or less. Plus, I respect how damn determined he is. Been beating his arse back and forth fer a year and he just keeps coming back fer more."
Lynn: "Busy lil' Beedril, that one. Between her Gym, her announcer job, an' cleanin' up Spikemuth, I'm surprised she's got any time fer herself. Not bein' that hard a worker myself, I admire anyone who puts that much effort into what they do."
Aron: "Who th' bloody fock names their kid after a Pokemon? Sheesh, Lynn got lucky. Still, I like 'em. Gets a bit distracted, an' ya gotta keep him on focus, though."
Charles: "Old man reminds me of th' grandpa I ain't never had. Always willing tae at least hear yer stupid shite out, an' tells it like it is too. Don't hurt that he's got probably th' only pub in Wyndon that stocks buckie."
"Careful, now. Underestimating your opponent is the surest path to a loss."
NAME: Charles Ackerman
GYM TYPE: Normal
Stands at 6'3. Still stands tall and is remarkably fit and well-muscled despite his age. Hair is mostly grey, and his mustache and goatee are well trimmed.
Typically wears button-down shirts and slacks, with a sport jacket on top.
A quiet, thoughtful man that prefers to listen before speaking. When he does speak, however, his speech is honest and blunt, though with a rather dry wit. Is old enough and has seen enough that he tends to take most things in stride, not seeming surprised by much.
Charles enjoys working with and mentoring younger Trainers, seeking to pass on what he knows to the next generation. Despite his patience, however, he has no tolerance for willful ignorance or excessive pride and tends to look down on those who do display such traits.
As a veteran Trainer and a former Champion, he has a wealth of knowledge, but is entirely willing to learn from the modern age. Actually, he delights in watching and researching new training and battling tactics, as well as modern advancements in general. Keeping up with new technology is an interest of his, and he makes a point of acquiring and using the latest consumer electronics in order to avoid looking stodgy or out-of-date.
Born in Wyndon nearly a lifetime ago, Charles was the middle child of a pair of blue-collar workers. Out of both a desire for adventure and wanting to reduce the number of mouths his household had to feed, he set off on his Pokemon journey at a rather young age. Back in those days, the Gym Challenge hadn't been as formalized or as massive of an event as it is now, but he still made a good accounting for himself, making it all the way to the Champion before being defeated.
Though disgraced by defeat, Charles found that he'd had a knack for this Pokemon training thing, and stuck with it, having formed genuine bonds with the Pokemon he'd trained along the way. Despite still being a teenager, he left Galar for several years, traveling the world and taking part in the tournament circuit to support himself, sending money back to his family when he could. A decade later, he returned a full-grown man and swept the Gym Challenge before defeating the Champion, taking the title for himself.
Charles's reign as Champion lasted a good number of years, his popularity bolstered by his everyman, working-class origins. During these years, he'd married, had children, and subsequently gotten divorced in short order, with both parents sharing joint custody. Eight years into his title reign, he was finally defeated, but took it in good grace, firmly beliving that his replacement was a solid choice as Champion.
Over the next few decades, Charles faded from the public eye, investing his winnings from his Championship to open up a bar in Wyndon. He spent the years managing his business, keeping his Pokemon in good shape, and raising his children when he had custody of them. About ten years ago, with his children full-fledged adults and out in the world, Charles was searching for something to occupy his time. Eventually, he decided to make an attempt to get back into the game. In truth, Chairman Amaranth was rather shocked to see his old friend simply applying for a Minor Gym Leader position. Still, Charles's credentials were impeccable as an ex-Champion, and in truth, he'd kept his skills sharp for long enough that he'd outclassed most of the other applicants that year looking to occupy the Minor League position.
Thus, Charles has been the Leader of a Minor Gym in Wyndon for a decade, being content to integrate it with his existing business. Thus, the Wyndon Gym is located in a rather unassuming side street just off of Wyndon's main promenade, serving as a Pokemon Gym by day and a bar by night.
All of them are rather old, irritable towards strangers, and rather sedate, having been with Charles for decades. Hunter, his eldest companion, was even on Charles's team as a young teenager during his first Gym Challenge. Android, as a Porygon, had been a gift from his daughter when he'd initially opened the Wyndon Gym, claiming that he needed some form of modern Pokemon to keep up with the times.
Has an assortment of Gym Pokemon that he rotates through along with his primary team, tending to individually tailor each of his teams to his challengers.
Is always willing to lend an ear to his younger fellows and offer advice. Wants to see them succeed.
Hestia: "Spirited girl. Though her passion's a double-edged sword. She's driven, that's for certain. But her ego gets in her way."
Rai: "Frequents my bar a lot. I can tell she's carrying some baggage with her, but it's not my place to pry. Though I hope someone can get past her shell."
Ezran: "A good man. Standoffish, but I can understand it. Plus, I know what it's like to train a type that most of the public doesn't think much of, though Normal types have never had it as bad as Poison types."
Silas: "Most Dragon Tamers I've met have been the most arrogant bastards on Arceus's green earth. The League and the public are fortunate that Silas has his head on right, though I suspect the television networks are disappointed."
Malik: "I've known Malik the longest out of this lot, and I respect him the most out of all the Galar Leaders. He's done quite a lot for the League, and burnt himself out in the process. Believe me, I've been there. Only time and rest will help."
Clorin: "The boy's head is so far up his arse that I'm surprised he can still see straight. How do I know? My niece is a fan."
Nordrin: "An admirable figure, despite his attitude. The youth under his watch could certainly have worse mentors."
Iris: "A fine young lady, that one. The public's reaction to her is utterly ridiculous, though. They'll come around in time, but this is the sort of thing that shouldn't need an adjustment period in the first place."
Fraye: "Curious, willing to learn, and never gives up. All good traits. He's had some missteps with the media, but I can't say he didn't bring that on himself."
Thomas: "A good, hard worker. Certainly a fine influence on any Trainer that comes through his Gym."
Lynn: "Spikemuth wasn't always on the rise in Galar. That town's fortunate to have a Gym Leader so dedicated to its growth. Excellent job commentating on the Cup with her brother, too."
Aron: "Could stand to get his head out of the clouds. Has a rather good head on his shoulders when he's not distracted, though."
Fiona: "Talented and intelligent, but she's wasting her potential simply lazing around and goofing off. Still, underneath all the slacking and deliberate idiocy, there's someone who cares. Girl's also the only reason I stock this bloody awful tonic wine."
Never thought poison types could be so diverse, huh? Show me how unique your own team can be!
NAME: Ezran Hawthorne
GYM TYPE: Poison-Minor Gym in Ballonlea
Hair Color: Mixed black and white
Eye Color: Gold
Height: 6' 3"
Build: Slender but muscular
Apparel: Ezran dresses comfortably as he can in t-shirts and jackets of varying colors and designs depending on the weather or how he feels during a day. He usually has headphones on or around his neck at the very least to listen to music at a moments notice to unwind. His favored colors at the gym are usually shades of blue, green, or purple to match with his team.
He can clean up well if need be with a wide selection of dressier clothes for the more formal events that the gym leaders need to attend, but he's much happier to dress down and enjoy himself.
PERSONALITY:Confident and dependable, Ezran is an easy person to get along with provided you don't get on his bad side. If that's the case he can be just as snappish and toxic as the poison type pokemon that he works with, but thankfully it takes a lot to get to that point. He is hard working at anything and everything, but mainly things that grab his interest completely. He can be somewhat easily distracted so if it doesn't work out every part of his brain he's more likely to lose interest.
He's strongly of the opinion that no one should be judged by how they look or who they are, but rather the quality of their personality. He came to this realization after working with his poison types for many years and noticing that many people didn't seem fond of them. He'll take the time to get to know someone before really deciding if he wants to be their friend or not. Some people see this as putting in too much effort on things that mean very little, but Ezran is of the mind that the types of people you spend time with reflect the type of person you are.
It does take some work to get Ezran to care deeply about someone or something, not to say that he's against closeness by any means, but he wants to make sure it's worth his time. Like many of the other trainers and gym leaders he cares deeply about his pokemon, even the ones that aren't his main six. Training up his teams is something that he throws himself into 100% and if someone seems like they're giving less than that to their own team, he may decide not to fight them at all. If he is putting the work to get his team to be the best that they can then he expects his challengers to do the same.
Overall, he is both a talented trainer and musician that will drive both himself and others to be the best that they can be no matter who they are or what others might tell them. His methods can seem somewhat harsh to people who don't know him well, but he means the very best for his pokemon, the other league members, and the challengers that come up against him.
BIOGRAPHY: Born in the sprawling central city of Hammerlocke, Ezran spent the majority of his childhood exploring the historic back roads of the stone city with his older brother, only by a year, Zac and his gang of friends, or watching pokemon trainers from all over use his home city as a waypoint in their own journey to compete against the Champion of Galar. He was lucky enough to have a father who worked in the league, not as a gym leader more on the business side, and that gave him the opportunity to see a lot of pokemon battles that only furthered his desire to compete himself.
Ezran always found himself fascinated with all types of pokemon like many kids his age. He and his friends would talk about which pokemon they'd want on their future teams when they began their own journeys. Of course they all wanted the coolest ones like dragon or fire types on their teams and for the longest time Ezran completely agreed with them. He thought about how he could put together the strongest and most amazing team of flashy and well known pokemon that would win him the League title. Once he was old enough of course.
The only other hobby he found himself enamored with, other than pokemon, was music. For his birthday one year his father bought him a guitar and that was that. He spent hours and hours learning how to play, and since he couldn't become a trainer just yet he decided, why not become a musician. He roped in a few of his other friends and they started a small group, just for fun, until they found something better to do with their time. After a fairly short time most of them got bored and quit, but Ezran kept working at it. He took lessons, practiced, and eventually got to the point where he felt comfortable performing in a few of the smaller venues around Hammerlocke and other nearby cities. He knew it wasn't what he wanted to do as a career, but he still found a great deal of joy in the small shows he put on.
Fate or, as his father would call it, dumb luck had other ideas of course. Just before he was getting ready to begin his own journey to compete against the gyms of the region he was headed home from one of his later night performances and found a young Toxel thrown into a dumpster; screaming and crying out. While didn't really know much about poison types, wasn't fond of them in the slightest, he couldn't leave it behind and took Minuet as his first teammate. Skittish, weak, and not well suited for battling at all his brother teased him mercilessly about his lackluster performance, but that only motivated him to make his team stronger than Zac's by using the, much less loved, poison type.
He didn't care that Toxel wasn't the most well suited to battling, and instead of giving up on her he worked twice as hard to help her gain confidence and strength. With careful and kind hands he was able to evolve Minuet into an amped up Toxtricity that joined him both in battle and in music. It took a long time, a great deal of battling, and a great deal of loss, but he eventually defeated the gyms, as well as his brother and struck out against the champion only to lose in the last moments of the fight, but he felt he'd proven himself well enough and wanted to get more back into his music, see the world, that sort of thing.
He spent several years traveling and performing all over the world with Minuet and even found some new teammates in his journey. He found unique teammates like Noble-his dragalge and Blitz-his salazzle in far away regions; training them up from their first evolution into strong and reliable pokemon. After putting together a fully poison type team he decided to head back home to Galar. He'd decided he didn't want to try and beat the Champion again, but still wanted to help other young trainers in their mission to do what he couldn't. Given this decision and his newly minted poison team he set out to build up a poison type gym and has been serving as it's leader for the past several years.
Minuet (Gigantimax Amped Toxtricity)-Ezran's signature pokemon one would expect the amped up Toxtricity to be loud and vying for the spotlight at any time, but she is actually one of the more lax members of the team. It's actually difficult to get her to get fully invested in a fight, but when she does it is a real show. She doesn't really like to stay in her pokeball so she's usually walking a step behind Ezran.
Armon (Nidoking)-From the time he was a Nidoran, Armon was always a bit of a prankster. Leaving mushed berries or poison barbs in beds he is the most light-hearted member of the team, but also gets on the others nerves when he pulls a prank just before a big fight.
Noble (Dragalge)-Noble is true to her name as a quiet, regal tank of the team. A unique pokemon to see in the Galar region she is happy to drift in the background and watch with careful eyes at the goings on of the rest of the team.
Varian (Scolipede)-Stubborn and unyielding it took Ez a great deal of time working with Varian when he caught him as a Venipede to gain his loyalty and be trusted as Varian's trainer. After quite some time he finally got the headstrong bug type to evolve into Scolipede and take a place on his main team.
Ty (Drapion)-Ty is a bit of a guard dog towards the rest of the crew and Ezran especially. Highly protective and a bit overzealous he is the one to leap in front of another teammate and take a hit himself if it meant keeping everyone else safe.
Blitz (Salazzle)-Rash and intrepid, Blitz really fits her name as she is all about rushing in and striking hard before retreating just as fast to prepare for the next hit. She is a fast attacker but also doesn't miss an opportunity to chill out and relax.
Wobble (Skorupi)-A sweet and surprisingly cuddly pokemon, Wobble is a good start off for beginners knowing when to hit hard and when to hold back when it looks like a battle might be going sour.
Uma (Skrelp)- Calm, collected, and difficult to predict in a pinch. Uma watches an opponent carefully before striking and is more than capable of taking a couple of hits in a rough spot.
Taz (Salandit)- (Excluded at 0)-An absolute menace both on and off the field, Taz does not hold back anything especially when she feels she might be on the losing side.
Minx (Haunter)- Like most ghost types Minx is a jokester off the field, but in battle he becomes a shockingly difficult opponent to best with speed and craftiness on his side.
Spiral (Whirlipede)- Quiet and reserved she gives off the impression that she'll be an easy opponent to best, but she uses moments of indecision on the opponents side to strike out quickly with an expectedly hard blow.
Takara (Nidoqueen) (Excluded at 3)-The companion to Armon and the much more level headed of the two. When she is around Armon tends to shape up aa bit and his pranks tend to stop with only a stern glare from her.
Forte (Low-Key Toxtricity Gigantimax)-Much more back of the line than his amped up counterpart Forte doesn't always live up to his name, but he can still fight with the best of them and is Ezran's signature pokemon for his challenge team for a good reason. He's much more modest about his capabilities than Minuet, but still travels around and performs with Ez on stage when they're not busy during the challenge season.
Wackjaw (Crobat)- Wackjaw has been mischievous and incredibly quick, in both actual speed and whatever wit pokemon seem to have, since he was a Zubat. One of the very first pokemon Ezran ever caught on his journey, as many other trainers do, he decided to keep the problem prone bat on his team until it eventually evolved into Crobat and became the starter on his challenge team. He absolutely must be kept apart from Armon or the two will cause havoc.
Jazz (Skuntank)- Jazz is the most relaxed of all the members of both teams. She's perfectly happy to sit back in her pokeball instead of leap teeth bared into the fray, but she does have her strengths. Mostly in taking hard hits that the rest of the team might not be able to. Her favored spot is not in the stadium, but rather in any spot of sunlight she can find.
Bruce (Toxicroak)- Careful and observant Bruce serves as a difficult opponent in the gym as he is both fast and can pack some serious power into his blows. He's great at picking up on patterns and noticing where his opponents are weakest in order to hit the very hardest. Out of the stadium he likes to sit back and relax, much like Jazz, only he is awake and watching the shenanigans of Ezran's other teamembers.
Shay (Tentacruel) (Excluded at 6)-Shay is a defensive powerhouse though most might not think much of him at first glance. He is a directly counter to Bruce and while he is slower and doesn't hit as hard he is more than capable of playing the long game of status conditions and tanking blows for the other members of the team
"Nothing is going to stop me from reaching my goals, don't let anything stop you either."
NAME: Silas Griffith
GYM TYPE: Dragon-Major Gym in Hammerlocke
Hair Color:Light Brown
Build: Well built and fit
Apparel: Silas dresses well under every circumstance unless he’s at home by himself. Whether it be a simple camera appearance or a bigger event he wears stylish clothes that tend to match with the Pokémon he’s working with at the time. While out of the spotlight he prefers sweaters and other cozy clothes.
PERSONALITY: Silas is a bright and vibrant personality who takes a great deal of pride in his team and his challengers. Win or lose he always finds something to offer advice about for his challengers. He tends to pick and choose which Pokemon he wants to use in a gym challenge based on the challenger. He rarely uses the exact same lineup in order to keep his opponents anticipating what his next move might be.
He definitely knows how to put on a show and have a good time for the cameras and the viewers of the battles. It is not uncommon to see him or his team showing off their prowess and personalities on the field, but he also enjoys the quieter moments with his teams and friends out of the stadium.
The more forceful side of his personality shines through when he is training with his various teams. Knowing the demand of training dragon types he focuses mainly on earning their respect and ensuring they know just who is in charge on the team. His dragons can be standoffish and snappy towards others, but they would never do it while Silas can see or towards those they know he cares for.
BIOGRAPHY: Born in the colder city of Circhester Silas developed a love for the snow and outdoors at a young age, but due to varying health issues he spent many of those younger years inside the house under the care of the various different caretakers that his father hired to watch after him while he was away on business. Despite the warnings he got he usually found a way to slip outside and play with the other kids around the city even if it left him bedridden for days afterwards, it was worth it. Those days in bed were usually spent watching any televised pokemon battle he could get his hands on, knowing he may never get the chance himself.
After complaining one too many times to his father, during the rare times he was home, he was gifted with a Dreepy. Somewhat of an odd choice but Silas didn’t care in the slightest as he immediately bonded with the dragon type and named her Oliana after his mother. She became a stalwart, and much needed, companion through many days and years both inside and out. A series of treatments left him well enough to go out and explore for longer periods of time, but he quickly ran out of new things to see in the city and became enamored by the other kids' talk of being pokemon trainers and remembered the many many battles he’d watched.
The next time his father came home he told him he was going to become a pokemon trainer which was met with stern disapproval and a warning to never bring it up again. After a few more tries with his father, and more than a few arguments he let the matter drop until he turned 18 and firmly told his father that he was leaving.
The process of building up his team was not an easy one, but he eventually had a team he was proud of and entered the gym challenge; only to immediately have to drop out due to a relapse of his illness. After time recuperating and a bit more time training he finally joined the challenge once again and that time almost made it to the finals, just barely losing with both trainers having only one pokemon remaining.
Despite his loss he caught the eye of the previous dragon type gym leader who took Silas under his wing and trained him up for several years as a successor whenever he decided to retire. Now that he has Silas gladly took up the mantle as dragon type leader.
Oliana (Dragapult)-Oliana was his very first pokemon given to him as a gift by his mostly absent father as a companion and she has stuck by him through everything. Her personality very much mirrors her trainer as a jovial and kind presence despite her ghostly appearance.
Admiral (Garchomp)-The Admiral is likely the most troublesome on the team due to his forceful and demanding personality. He is arrogant and that can lead him to push around other members of the team. Silas has his respect and that is about all you can ask for with him.
Razor (Haxorus)-Razor is an intimidating looking Pokemon, but she really is a sweetheart. At least off the battlefield. On the pitch she is a no mercy sort of fighter who will do everything in her immense power to win a fight and she is the most crushed in the event of a loss.
Orion (Kommo-o)-A trickster by nature Orion is the one most often to be found causing trouble of a different sort than The Admiral. He likes to try and sneak around and pull small pranks on the team, which proves to be somewhat difficult with the rattle that comes from his scales.
Sharptooth (Tyrantrum)-Despite her name and rocky exterior Sharptooth is as careful and kind as they come. She tiptoes around smaller pokemon and trainers in order to make sure they don’t get stepped on by her massive feet and is the team member most likely let people use her as some sort of prehistoric jungle gym.
Arcadia (Hydregion)-Arcadia is the type to never let the win overshadow the hard work of the team, and the challengers team for that matter. She accepts praise with a heads raised in pride but of all her teammates she isn’t the type to show off. Not too much anyway
Boone (Applin)-Probably the smallest of all of Silas’ pokemon Boone is more on the defensive side of things and would much rather avoid the fight all together, but he’ll do what he needs to when it comes down to it.
Rebel (Deino)-Rebel fits his name well as he does not like to sit back and watch others have all the fun. If given the chance he will rush in and bash the first thing he sees. It’s something we’re working on.
Ripley (Axew)- (Excluded at 0) Ripley is the strongest of the younger pokemon but never really shows it much. He’s pretty lax when it really comes to getting into the fight, but it makes him a good match for the lower level challengers.
Wilde (Gabite)-Wilde, much like Admiral, is very hard headed and stubborn when it comes to battling and tends to push around the other members of the intermediate team when Silas and the main team aren’t around, but he really means well.
Sly (Dragonair)-A veritable gentle giant, Sly loves anyone and everyone that she meets, person or pokemon, but much like Razor she is a force to be reckoned with in battle
Ranger (Vibrava)-Quiet and somewhat twitchy, Ranger prefers to keep to the skies or the trees rather than get involved in the shenanigans of the other mons.
Aurora (Altaria) (Excluded at 3)-A soothing balm on each and every member of the teams, Aurora is a calming presence that can pull a battle back from the brink of loss.
Astral (Drakloak)-Much like his older sister, Astral is cheerful and happy which is both endearing and can become somewhat irritating after a rough fight.
Delilah (Gigantimax Appletun)-It’s a miracle that Delilah ever actually gets on the pitch and battles given the fact she’d much rather be sleeping in a sunspot somewhere.
Havoc (Noivern)-Contrary to his name Havoc is one of the more calm members of the team. He earned the name as a Noibat when he broke almost everything in sight, but after he evolved he became a much needed level head.
Hooch (Drampa)-Hooch is quite friendly as many Drampa are, but is also incredibly protective of every other member of the team. Though he is also very fluffy.
Pandora (Flygon)-(Excluded at 6)-Pandora is a no nonsense sort of personality and quite frequently posts herself at Silas’ side during training sessions to oversee the others and point out mistakes.
If you came here looking for an easy recipe for victory, you can piss off right now!
___________________
NAME: Nordrin Yasmar
GYM TYPE: Fairy
Nordrin is purple eyed, and while he might joke (read: state with no hint of humor whatsoever) that the stress of dealing with idiots turned his hair white early, it's actually his natural color. He's been growing it out since he was young, and the more people chastise him to cut it the longer it stays uncut. He stands at 6 foot 2 inches (188cm) and though he was never able to pack on muscle as much as he would have liked, he keeps in good shape. Other than the flat resting bitch face he's known for, another trait that stands out about him is the coarse, scarred nature of his hands. They're evidence of a life of hard work.
First impressions paint Nordrin as a man of little patience. That is completely correct. He is passionate, driven, and ambitious - he is also a workhorse, and considers his time as extremely valuable. He works hard and doesn't have much extra time for playing hard, so if you're wasting his time he won't hesitate to tell you. Very often Nordrin comes off as a rude for a lot of people because he isn't afraid to speak his mind, no matter what's on it. It's landed him in hot water before, but Nordrin is nothing if not sure of himself. He can have a short fuse at times, but he hasn't resorted to violence himself since his younger years, preferring to man up and take the high road. Sometimes he's been listed as a "no-nonsense" type because of his professionalism in public, but the other leaders know this isn't completely true. Since returning to Galar, he's also earned a bit of a reputation as a heart breaker - leaving both men and women behind him to focus on his career.
Growing up less fortunate, one might think that he does charity work to help others in situations he once faced. That is completely incorrect. He won't help anyone that doesn't try to help themselves and he doesn't do charity work. That said, he does take apprentices and gives out sponsorships. He gives everyone a chance to show they're hungry for more in life, and then gives them second and third chances so long as they don't give up. He will never turn a blind eye to those in need, but he has no sympathy for people who have given up on themselves.
Beyond all of the blunt words and self pride, it's clear that Nordrin has a gentle side, if only for his craft. He has a master's touch, and watching him cook or battle shows off just how much care he puts into both aspects of his life. He can be kind and nurturing for those under his care, but he isn't one to go easy on them. He wants to bring out the best in those around him, so that he can continue to evolve as well. He never stops chasing new heights.
The traits he most admires in others are adaptability, creativity, personal pride and most of all tenacity. His efforts in High Steaks Gym are intended to bring those out in others. After all, Nordrin is well aware that talent is not something you're born with, it's something you can grow - so it's up to everyone to give themselves the conditions in order to see that talent grow.
In the sea side town of Hulbury, you're either a fat cat or a laborer. Luxury imports fuel the city's bustling tourism industry, where those with the means browse high end shops and restaurants. On the flip side, dock workers and street hawkers fill the city's underbelly and keep the whole of Hulbury moving with little recognition.
Nordrin came from a small family of Hulbury's less fortunate. Every day his father fulfilled orders and hauled meat, fruit, and vegetables from the shipyard up the steep hill to the better part of town. Back breaking work for little pay. Even just supporting a household of three was tough. At a young age, Nordrin took simple jobs to help his parents out. He worked as a delivery boy, Pokemon sitter, and stall worker. Once he was a bit holder, he landed his most impressionable job as a dish washer in the back of one of Hulbury's prestigious restaurants. Day in and day out he endured jabs from the chefs, patrons, and even waitstaff looking down on people like him.
Nordrin had talent, he was a quick study and adaptable. In down time he would try and replicate the dishes the cooks made, and some times he would even succeed. As one might expect, no one gave him the time of day. The chefs belittled him, and even his fellow cleaning staff didn't believe he could get anywhere. None of this stung as much as when Nordrin would return home at night, and the only thing his parents encouraged him to do was keep his head down and not make trouble. For Nordrin that was as good as a betrayal. They didn't have the ambition that he did, if they even had any at all. After one night of explosive anger in which Nordrin attacked the restaurant's annoying, pompous host, he was thrown out of the restaurant and fresh out of a job. Now a teenager, Nordrin channeled his anger into drive and left home with only a backpack and a quickly scrawled note. In his heart was a promise to return to Hulbury and prove everyone wrong. He was determined to make something of himself.
The world was dangerous to travel alone. It was more necessity than anything that Nordrin became a Pokemon trainer. He never gave anything less than a 100% though, so he took raising Pokemon seriously. He traveled briefly around Galar before stowing away on a ship bound for Kalos, where he spent a majority of his adult life studying both Pokemon battling and culinary arts. After years of hard work he exceeded in both fields, becoming an accomplished chef in a triple star restaurant and obtaining the rank of Duke in the region's Battle Chateau. His next stop in world domination was the Hoenn region, where he aimed to perfect the more unique techniques.
It was only relatively recently the Nordrin returned to Galar, taking Hulbury by storm. He opened his own restaurant and aggressively advertised it, stealing business from other establishments which he viewed as elitist and classist nuisances. His restaurant expanded to include a Pokemon gym once Nordrin's infamy spread around town and beyond. He was pressured into conforming to a single type team before being officially established as a major league gym leader, which he begrudgingly did in order to grow his career further. Now, he runs a brutal brutal brigade in the city's High Steaks Gym. The goal of the combination gym and restaurant is to nurture talent, challenge expectations, and provide high quality entertainment and food for patrons from all walks of life.
"Everyone is a tree. They may look tough on the outside, but underneath there is sweet, sweet sap."
Lynn is about 1.64m/ 5"3ft tall, and has a slender body.
She has dark red hair, and red eyes, same as her twin brother.
She will normally wear dark clothes which help make her hair and eyes stand out more, but also stand opposed of her personality.
Major League Gym Leader
Galar Championship Announcer
Curious and optimistic are the two key words that can come to mind when describing Lynn. She is the type of person to cheer everyone on, even if they are trainers that come to challenge her. Lynn tries to be kind and show everyone a good time. She is also one of the harder working people within Spikemuth, always looking for ways to make her home town improve and become better than it was before. Some have even described her as the sparkle that keeps trying to ignite Spikemuth into a full blown fire, to make it become brighter than anywhere else.
Her curiosity led her to apply to become one of the League's announcers during the Championships. Lynn found herself fascinated by not just bug pokemon, but how everyone fought and complimented their own pokemon. She also does a well job staying neutral by, oddly enough, cheering for both sides constantly and hyping the crowd.
According to her brother Aron, Lynn is basically a walking adrenaline shot.
Born with her twin brother in the town of Spikemuth, Lynn had what she considered to be a good upbringing. They never lacked anything, and being the daughter of the then gym leader of Spikemuth. Her father allowed her to watch many of his matches against challengers, and at times, even took her to watch him participate in the Championship matches, against the other gym leaders. While she wanted to also bring Aron with her, her brother and her became somewhat distant early on. She connected to their father, while he connected to their mother.
She caught her first pokemon, Cres the Heracross, at the age of 10, almost around the same time Aron got his first pokemon. This sparked the first bit of connection between her and Aron in several years, as both got excited over the prospect of being pokemon trainers, albeit for different reasons. Lynn wanted to be a trainer and become a gym leader like their father. Aron wanted to find a home for the less understood pokemon. Even if it was for different reasons, the two had a topic to discuss and the sibling connection between then started to grow and strengthen.
Throughout the next decade, Lynn and Aron started spending more time together. Lynn started to grow her team, and eventually took on the gym challenge. She would manage to get through all the gyms, even beating her father, putting a deep impression as he saw how strong was the connection between her and her pokemon. At the Championship, however, she was eliminated in the first. While she was disappointed with herself, Aron was there to cheer her up, claiming she was seen by all the gym leaders as a full fledged trainer, and that already spoke volumes.
She kept training, with Aron aiding her, in order to take on the gym challenge once more, only to be approached by their father. He wished to retire from the position of gym leader and pass it on to someone he saw first hand as being worthy, and that the other gym leaders of the time agreed with him. And that person was Lynn. At the age of 20, she became the gym leader of Spikemuth's major gym.
While it took her a bit to adjust to the new role and status that came with it, she kept supporting Aron as he turned into a gym leader as well, a year later, and of a minor league gym in Spikemuth. Together, they also decided to take on a second job, that of being the announcers during the championships. They both found it satisfying to work there, as it meant they would always have a job that kept them together, even if busy times came for them.
Heracross - Cres - Male
Cres is the oldest pokemon Lynn owns, and the one she'd call her best pokemon friend. She found him around 14 years ago, after she had gotten lost in a forest. Cres started following her, and Lynn became scared for a bit, until she realized she had gotten sap on her arm, and Cres came and licked it clean. She kept looking for the way out, and Cres kept accompanying her, even scaring off a few other pokemon to ensure she was safe. Once she was safe, Cres just kept sticking with her, as if there was something more he liked about her. Lynn decided to catch him with a pokeball and officially make him her own, which he did not resist. They've been together ever since.
Cres is normally calm and collected, and will only give major reactions when Lynn is threatened, or when there is sap nearby.
Ariados - Spade - Female Spade is Lynn's newest addition to her team, only being with her for around 2 years. Spade is a bit of a trickster, who enjoys using her webbings to cause anyone to become stuck for a bit. If she is feeling extra silly, she may even lift them from the ground a bit. But when it comes to combat, Spade is normally focused and well behaved.
Illumise - Lumi - Female
Lumi can be described as the closest one to Lynn's own personality among Lynn's main team. She is bubbly, energetic, and will normally try and spread happiness all around. While she doesn't particulary enjoy fighting, she is always willing and ready to do so alongwith Lynn. She will normally, however, go crying about it afterwards.
Scizor - Zaz - Male
One of Lynn's tougher pokemon, Zaz always takes pride in showing just how tough he can be, both in a match and out of it. He always enjoys praise and shows signs of despair whenever he loses. He is always eager to train and is also the type of pokemon to get out of his pokeball and try to get Lynn to train with him. Due to how much time he spends out of his pokeball, people often mistake him as Lynn's favourite pokemon.
Beedrill - Dee - Female
Dee often looks like the most intimidating pokemon Lynn has in her arsenal, but in truth, Dee is actually about as sweet as it can get. It enjoys cuddling up to Lynn, stick close and also play around with the other pokemon, particulary Lumi and Cres. It will get serious when it is time to battle, but from how Lynn knows it, Dee normally hopes to not be called to battle.
Orbeetle - Tal - Male
The only pokemon in her team that is capable of Gigantamaxing, Tal is a rather supportive pokemon. He will try and help his teammates train and become stronger and better, regardless if they will gain the same ability that he has. Due to Spikemuth's Bug Gym not having the capability to support Dynamax, Tal himself can sometimes forget that he has the ability to gigantamax and be caught off guard when he does transform into his other form.

Aron is 1.9m / 6"2 ft tall, and possesses a slim body.
He has dark red hair and red eyes, same as his twin sister.
Aron will normally wear casual shirts and jeans. Most of his tops are black with drawings on them.
Minor League Gym Leader
Galar Championship Announcer
While his sister is energetic and in his opinion, a bit too happy-go-lucky, Aron is more down to earth and collected. He tries to be a more cautioned guy when it comes to challenges that come his way, and while he'll encourage people to do their best before the match and after, he won't give cheers during the match. This extends to when he is announcing, during which he tries to be more collected and help the audience understand what kind of effects the moves may have.
Outside of the Gym business, Aron is a bit more casual with his behavior. He'll be easy-going and try to get along with others, but normally also stay relatively quiet and let others do the leading. He can lose himself in his own thoughts and concerns with ease if left alone, and this makes him desire to be around others more often, even if he isn't the one doing the talking. He is also supportive of all that Lynn does for their home town, but feels he may get in the way if he tries doing anything more.
According to his sister Lynn, Aron is a walking sack of daydreams.
Born in Spikemuth with his twin sister Lynn, Aron felt a bit lonely in his first years. He did not have the courage to go out and be in a crowd like his sister, who kept looking up to their father. This made him turn to their mother, who was glad having Aron around. She taught him about caring for pokemon and that they equal, and no matter how they look or what kind of stories are told of them, they all had so much more to offer. Aron took it all in and started to wonder what kind of pokemon he might want.
Just before they turned 10, the family had a trip to the Crown Tundra. It was during this trip that Aron got his first pokemon, Sebile the Absol. It wouldn't be long after that Lynn caught her first pokemon, and it created a spark between Aron and his sister. A connection to his sister that he felt was missing before. Together, they began training and supporting one another. While Lynn was focused on her wish to take on the gym challenge, Aron learned how to become a better trainer and partner for his pokemon.
As the next decade passed, Aron found himself spending much time with Lynn, and eventually watched and cheered her on as she took on the gym challenge. While he didn't want to pursue the gym challenge like Lynn, he started to see the appeal that was behind being a gym leader. How they were capable of taking care of not just their own pokemon, but also help ensure and on the way, teach others too about pokemon. Eventually, Lynn would reach the championship, and lose at the first round. Aron still came and ensured she knew of how much she showed not just to herself and to him, but to the many gym leaders she encountered along the way.
Some time later, Lynn would become the gym leader instead of their father in the major gym of Spikemuth, a bug themed gym. Aron, while not being sure if he could find a place for the type of pokemon he specilized in, decided to look, only to discover that one of the minor league gyms was a Dark theme, and that the gym leader was looking for someone to replace him. Even better, it turned out to be Spikemuth's minor league gym. After fighting and proving himself to the gym leader, and then training for six more months, he inherited the minor league Dark type gym.
Now, both Aron and Lynn were gym leaders, and Aron kept supporting Lynn as she began working to make Spikemuth more inviting to outsiders. He also took on the same job as Lynn, serving as the Championship announcers, to know that there will always be something they will do together, even if there will be busier times that will take away their own free time.
Absol - Sebile - Female
Aron's most trusted pokemon companion. He encountered Sebile while travelling around the Crown Tundra with his sister. While Sebile was wary, something about the way Aron approached her kept Sebile calm and in place. He managed to pet her, making sure not to pet the horn, and from there a friendship was formed.
Sebile is loyal to Aron and won't hesitate fighting for him to the very end. Outside of battles, Sebile is somewhat shy and will prefer keeping to herself and, if possible, remain in the pokeball, even going as far as nudging Aron when he keeps her out of it.
Murkrow - Kai - Male
While he is serious during battles, Kai is a very lazy pokemon out of battles. He will most of the time refuse to train with others and just want to go sleep on the nearest high spot he can find. He will come to Aron when called for, but he will still refuse to train with other pokemon.
Zoroark - Zark - Male
Zark considers himself to be Aron's strongest pokemon, and won't be scared to show it. He is always up to a fight, and always ready to do whatever is needed to help around. While he has strong mental capabilities, he isn't very strong physically, but he will still try and prove that he is the strongest there is, as long as Aron lets him out of his pokeball.
Sableye - Yoyo - Female
Yoyo received her name due to her behavior. She has a tendency of trying to get something, only to go and hide, and repeat this several times in a short span of time. She will especially take a shine to rocks, and they do not need to shine to attract him. In battle, she will obey what is she told, but normally expect some kind of treat afterwards. She will only show respect towards Aron. Even the other pokemon in Aron's team do not receive any show of respect from her.
Scrafty - Kick - Male
Kick is mostly know for his method of seeking attention, which is by kicking people. Kick will normally act and behave properly, but if something catches his eye, he will go to the nearest person to him (Normally Aron) and begin trying to get their attention. He can be distracted by things during battle, but he will normally try and keep his attention on Aron's voice and the opposing pokemon.
Bisharp - Lize - Female
Lize is the one pokemon in Aron's team you will not want to face. In battle, Lize is ruthless, and will rarely hold back herself when attacking, always aiming to give her all. Out of battles, Lize is rather cold towards everyone but Aron. The only reason she isn't cold towards Aron is that he saved her the day they met.

“The names Fraye Bartholomew Armstrong. That’s FBA or Fulfillment By Armstrong in case you were wonderin. Here for all your backup and ass kicking needs. Just gimme a shout if your itchin for a good beatin.”
Fraye Bartholomew Armstrong
Ilfracombe - Isle of Armor
Though he seems to have no real regard for fashion in general, Fraye seems to enjoy changing up his outfits. He gets a kick out of surprising people with the way he dresses, ranging from him being half-naked (typically to show off the results of his labor and the various scars he's received from bouts with his Pokémon or others) to surprisingly fashionable ensembles that make most question if he has a stylist on call for certain events. Still, he will most often be found sporting a variety of sleeveless tops (vests, muscle shirts, tank tops, sleeveless hoodies, etc.) and any manner of bottoms from joggers to sweats to shorts depending on his mood and the weather. One thing that rarely changes, if ever, is the presence of a bandana usually sporting the insignia of Galar's Fighting-type gym.
Fraye speaks with a rather noticeable Irish brogue. At times, typically when excited, he can fall into an old habit of talking a bit too fast to be understood if you aren't used to him. This is doubly so if he's had a few. Additionally, when he puts his mind to it and feels like messing with folks, he has picked up a trick or two in the control of his voice. He's able to mimic accents foreign to his own with near perfect inflection.
Ever the well meaning goofball, Fraye is about as lively, fun loving, and tenacious as they come. He loves adventure, a good brawl, and discovering the mysteries around him. There is always something new to uncover, learn, or fight; sometimes all three, if you know where to look. In fact, there are few trainers who can match this Gym Leader’s seemingly boundless energy and optimism. It is, perhaps, because of all of this that so many trainers expect an easier go of it when it comes to his gym challenge. How could someone who seems so cheerful want anything more than to see his challengers move on? Unfortunately, those trainers often find out just how wrong they are. Fraye doesn’t believe in holding back, even when tailoring his teams to match the number of badges or strength of the trainer.
Fueled by his desire to face every challenge that comes his way and a “never say die” attitude, Fraye believes that it is best to provide such a challenge to the trainers who come to face him. After all, it isn’t like the challenges will get easier if they make it past him. Perhaps there is more to it than that though. In truth, though he has never been known to teach or take anyone under his proverbial wing, Fraye enjoys watching others grow as much as he enjoys growing himself. He wants to give the trainers who battle him, as well as the spectators, a good show, but more than that, he wants to see to it that they walk away from the match having learned something, win or lose.
Fraye’s cheery attitude, along with a penchant for cracking jokes, even at times when it may be deemed inappropriate, has painted a bit of a negative light on him with regard to certain issues. The media rarely expects much of him with regard to major happenings around Galar. This, however, does not mean he is incapable of grasping the severity of a situation. Rather, he feels the need to try and mellow out those around him, and maybe to an extent himself, so as not to let them fly off the rails.
The fact of the matter is, Fraye is always willing to give his all for himself, his friends, and the entirety of the Galar region. This goes doubly so for his fellow Gym Leaders. Whether they need him to kick some ass, give them an ear for listening, or lend a shoulder to cry on, this fighter is always ready to join the fray.
Ilfracombe is a modest town that thrives on its agricultural prowess. It is remarkably unremarkable, if you can believe it. Farmers tend to their fields as others walk side by side with Pokémon, coexisting and working together to bring this vibrant place to life. Fraye's life growing up here was one of fun, encouragement, and cheerfulness with a hint of hard work. He helped his mother and father tend to the fields and the Pokémon. He looked in on business deals, though he rarely understood the bulk of what was going on. He met with neighbors, delivered goods, and played with children. If there was one downside to Fraye's upbringing, it was just how bored he seemed to become with the routine he'd settled into with each passing year. His saving grace came in the form of infrequent visits from his grandfather. When the old man came, Fraye always got excited to hear his stories. His grandfather's travels in the present, coupled with the adventures of the past, left Fraye in awe of all the possible wonders he might find if he were to venture far from home.
Still, each time he brought up the prospect of leaving, he was met with opposition from his parents. The danger, his not having a Pokémon, and his youth were all constant factors. Still, they relented under three conditions. The first was that Fraye learned to take care of himself. He needed to be able to defend himself and keep himself safe at all costs. The second was that he find himself a Pokémon; leaving without one was far more dangerous. And the third was that he wait until he was ten years old, at the least.
Fraye relented, but wasted no time in attempting to build up his physical abilities. Well... At least as much as a child could do. He did more work on the farm. He did push ups, sit ups, and any manner of other exercise he could think of. It wasn't until a man moved to town who had trained with Dojo Master Mustard that he began to see real progress. The man had chosen to retire from Pokémon training himself to settle down and start a family, but there were still a few things he could pass on. Fraye dedicated every free moment he could to learning as much as he could in the short time he had before his 10th birthday. Time seemed to fly by in a blur. Fraye's parents watched with worry as their child seemed to put more of himself into the prospect of a journey of adventure than they could ever have imagined. It was like they'd awakened something within him, no doubt with help from his grandfather.
Fraye grew bolder, more reckless. He developed a bit of a habit of acting without thinking along with a penchant for getting in over his head. Whether he was helping one of his friends out of a tough spot, dealing with a bully, or trying to subdue a rogue Pokémon with his bare hands (often to disastrous results), he was always up to something.
Then, as his 10th birthday came and went, he seemed to stagnate. He had done everything... and yet he couldn't get himself a Pokémon all his own. How could he catch a Pokémon without a Pokémon? And nobody was just up and giving them away. At least... nobody he knew. Still, a surprise visit from his grandfather saw Fraye obtaining exactly what he needed. During this visit, the old man brought something that outshined every story he'd told the boy. He gave Fraye his very own Pokémon. Seeing the scarlet fur of the Chimchar he'd been gifted seemed to reignite the fire within the boy all at once. And just like that, he was on his way.
Although slow going, at first, Fraye's journey had finally begun. He'd packed up all the essentials and set out to see more of the world, beginning by exploring more of the Isle of Armor as he made his way to the mainland of the Galar Region. With each new area explored, each new person met, and each new Pokémon discovered, Fray grew as an individual and a trainer. With each challenge thrown at him, he grew more excited for the next. Nothing compared to the rush of figuring out how to progress further than he thought he could. Days turned to weeks which turned to months and then years.
As Fraye continued to grow, amassing his team, strength, and developing into a better Trainer, he would soon find himself on the road to Galar's Pokémon League. Where else could he find and face off against the best of the best? He got pretty far his first go of it, but ultimately lost.
This did not deter Fraye in the slightest. He was never looking to become champion of the Galar League. The only thing he cared about was facing strong opponents and getting stronger himself. Of course, becoming a Gym Leader never crossed his mind either. Fraye figured it would be too much responsibility. He’d have to take care of others beyond himself and his Pokémon, think up a gym challenge, and be confined to the place where the gym was set up. At least, that’s what he thought.
Fraye was 17 when he saw something that he’d never expected, something that changed his view on all of the benefits of becoming a Gym Leader. He was exploring the Courageous Caverns of his home, the Isle of Armor. Something felt off this time though. It felt as though he was being watched. When he didn’t find anything, he gave up the search and decided to leave to head home. It’d been a while since he’d visited his parents. However, as he was leaving the caverns he saw it.
There, staring him down, was a living shadow. It was so small. It was very clearly a Pokémon, but no Pokémon he’d ever seen. Of course, his instinct was to catch it. He started the battle, fully intent on taking the mysterious Pokémon down. But it was strong. Fraye couldn’t do any damage let alone catch it. The way it moved and attacked wasn’t like any other Ghost-type he’d ever seen. He could tell that it was more than that. A Ghost-type and a Fighting-type. He wasn’t entirely sure, but if this were true, then he’d found a Pokémon with a type combination that he’d never seen before. It just made him want to catch it even more.
Fraye returned to the Courageous Caverns every day after that hoping to find it again. When he didn’t find it, he expanded the search. Unfortunately, he was searching aimlessly. He didn’t have anything worthwhile at his disposal that could help. But maybe… if he could become champion he’d have access to more resources. That was the plan at first. He returned to the Pokémon League. Each time he entered, he got a little closer to the top. The battles were exhilarating. There were times when he would legitimately forget what it was he’d initially begun this little quest for.
Still, with each defeat, he remembered. He had to get stronger if he was ever going to find that little Pokémon again and catch it.
As much fun as it was participating in the League, Fraye was no closer to the top than when he’d started. For the first time in his life, he’d considered giving up. That is until he was approached to become a Gym Leader for the Galar Pokémon League. It seemed that his skills and ever growing mastery of Fighting-type Pokémon had gotten around.
Although he considered initially turning down the offer, it was not without its benefits. He may not have access to everything the champion did, but he’d have a lot more than he did as an average trainer. He’d also get the chance to throw down with way more trainers, not to mention the other Gym Leaders. Plus, he could still always aim for the top in the meantime.
Accepting the position had its ups and downs, but Fraye was certainly glad he did it. The added responsibility wasn’t the greatest, but helping trainers learn and progress as he had gave him a new feeling of pride. He was learning things, figuring out more about himself and about others. Everything he learned about his mystery Pokémon just became an added bonus. Fraye may never find the little thing again. Hell, he may never even become the Champion. But come hell or highwater he’s never gonna give up and he certainly isn’t gonna go down with a fight.
Machamp (Gigantimax) Fighting - Adamant - Guts
1.651 m (5'5") - 133.81 kg (295 lbs)
The first Pokémon Fraye ever caught and the publicized ace of the team, Atlas, towers over the competition. Fraye relies on Atlas's strength more than almost any other Pokémon. Letting the four-armed wonder stretch his legs and mow down the competition (sometimes involuntarily) is always a good way to hype up the crowd. If just seeing him crush the competition isn't enough, having him gigantimax and give challengers a rougher time is always an option. Atlas's big muscles and hard head have made him an invaluable member of Fraye's team.
Breloom Grass/Fighting - Careful - Effect Spore
1.17 m (3'10") - 36.29 kg (80 lbs)
Ever cautious of her opponent's next move, Bloom seems to think through things as much as, if not more, than Fraye. Even so, she never fails to fulfill her trainer's order to amazing results. She seems to have trouble trusting new trainers and new Pokémon alike, but is extremely loyal and protective of those that stick around (much like Fraye's other Pokémon).
Shiny Infernape Fire/Fighting - Bashful - Blaze
1.27 m (4'2") - 60.33 kg (133 lbs)
This pyrokinetic primate is Fraye's oldest and most loyal Pokémon. A gift from his grandfather, Vulcan has been with the Gym Leader since the beginning of his journey. Fraye was immediately captivated with the Chimchar's roaring red fur; he knew that for him, there was no better Pokémon with whom he could begin his adventure. It was slow going at first; Vulcan was a little shy (as he is with all new people and Pokémon). But, with time, the two became inseparable. No matter what challenge comes his way, Fraye knows that he can take it with Vulcan by his side.
Lucario (Mega) Fighting/Steel - Naughty - Justified
1.3 m (4'3") - 62.6 kg (138 lbs)
The "mission" was to stop a wild little Pokémon who was bringing down small trees around random townsfolk. Nobody was being gravely injured, but this was quickly getting out of hand. When Fraye found the little Riolu responsible, he found that she was only trying to play pranks. Still, the attempt to show her it was wrong soon devolved into an all out brawl between Fraye and the Riolu. What certainly would have looked reckless, dangerous, and downright silly to any observer felt like an all out war for the Riolu and Fraye (who'd ordered his other Pokémon to stay out of it. Young and stupid, the two tumbled until they fell down a small waterfall. Fraye, to the Riolu's surprise, protected and pulled her from the water. Aurelia's been by his side ever since. She does still like playing the occasional prank here and there. Luckily... the destruction has been toned down.
Poliwrath Water/Fighting - Relaxed - Water Absorb
1.24 m (4'1") - 57.61 kg (127 lbs)
Having found and caught a Poliwag during a particularly vicious storm, Fraye couldn't help but think that a name symbolic of the weather conditions was appropriate. Fortunately, the Pokémon's personality contrasted his namesake, making him a great partner for the Fighting-type specialist. Mael is observant and though he isn't quite as excitable or quick to action as some of Fraye's other Pokémon, he is ready to throw down should the situation call for it.
Medicham (Mega) Fighting/Psychic - Jolly - Telepathy
1.35 m (4'5") - 36.74 kg (81 lbs)
Catching Jampa was a simpler task than Fraye initially expected. Whether this was due to her approachable and cheery demeanor or her genuine joy at the prospect of the battle that preceded it is anybody's guess. Even so, she quickly became a pillar of Fraye's team. Whether it is official league business, an unofficial match, or simply lounging after a long day of training, Jampa's cheery demeanor is certain to lift spirits and round out her team.

These Pokémon may be sitting on the bench, but they are always ready to come out and knock a few heads when Fraye needs them. Just because they're sitting pretty on "The Bench" doesn't mean Fraye hasn't been known to throw them into battle from time to time. Ly - Bewear
The two following Pokémon have been with Fraye for a long time now and hold a special place in his heart despite their statuses as non-Fighting-type Pokémon. They often provide companionship for long trips or simply for lounging around when he goes home to visit his mom and dad.
