35knxgl.jpg

Height: 6ft
Weight: 170lbs
Clothing: He often wears a leather tunic, with an eye cover at important events. During the cold he wears a wolf's fur coat, made from one of the largest wolves he's ever killed.
Distinguishing Features:
He lost an eye to a fight with a raider party's leader.

Holdings: Son of Bjor Clad. Official Leader of the Clad's elite force, known as the Pack. A small Battalion of men who's armor centers around the wolf and the bear. After his father he has claim to the lands known as the Frost Woods, a land with trees that bear ice against the axes that would come down on them. The Clad house holds suitable territory in the North but carries no official loyalties.
House Emblem:
eu4h29.jpg
Notable relations: Son of Bjor Clad, known as the Black Wolf. A great man who in his old age has hung up his sword.
Military Might: He is an exceedingly gifted strategist and is capable of anticipating enemy movements while planning his own, his men and he are trained to kill any man. Be he armored or archer, any army to come against the Pack would no doubt suffer a great defeat.
Loyalties: Loyal to its own, but the crown follows soon after.

Bio: Raised under a great warrior, Bjor Clad, he learned to fight with honor and to kill as he was instructed by his Lords. After he reached the age of 18 his father gave him permission to make his own sword. Bjarke made his sword with the help of a local smith, the blade long and the handle strong with a large hand guard. He continued to practice with the blade and eventually an opportunity to prove himself came around.

A band of Raiders had come from one of the southern territories, they had run rampant and left a trail of destruction behind them. Bjarke saw fit to take some of his friends, sons of soldiers and butchers alike form a tiny company. 13 men each with a talent and thirst for battle. This small company moved to find the Raiders and anticipated the path they were taking. After three days riding they came across the Raiders by chance in the forests. The company attacked the Raiders in the midst of the night, burning their tents and cutting them down quickly. Bjarke managed to make his way to the captain of the Raider Party before he was cut down. Bjarke and he fought briefly and it ended with Bjarke loosing an eye, and the Raider leaving with his head cut clean off. Bjarke brought Bjor back the severed heads of the entire Raider party, he was given more men for his Pack. By the next day he and his father traveled to the capitol and showed the severed heads to the King. Showing the might of house Clad and establishing them to the rank of a high house. Their army grew with those who lived in their territory swearing allegiance to house Clad and no longer the crown.
Religious Views: Pagan believer of the trinity.

Skills: He is fine tracker, and huntsman. He and his men are trained to survive the harshest conditions of the North, a gift shared by few in these kingdoms.

Other: He will kill any who stand against his Pack, regardless of it being the king or even his own father. He commands his Pack and treats them as his family, he would fight to save them sooner than he would to fight to save any other man. He takes his mother's name of Keln, his father had her killed to make room for a new wife so he bears her surname as remembrance of her.

Áleifr Jusse-Salmund Alvarsson

viking_fighter_2_by_da_toss_stock-d5h2ntl.jpg

Title: Captain of the Sagdjur Ravens Mercenary Band; Margrave of Velkysa

Age: 28

Gender: Male

Sexuality: Straight

Relationship Status: Married; Brynja Sólveig Rikvaldsdotter

Species: Human

Height: 5' 11"

Weight: 222 lbs

Clothing:
Áleifr's Armor
Áleifr's Normal Clothing

Distinguishing Features: In remembrance of the Guntish Sagdjur Ravens mercenary band he fought with during his early adulthood, Áleifr has a massive tattoo of the viking raven on his back. He is also the proud owner of numerous scars all over his body as a result of the numerous battles he fought under the direction of Lars Nilsson, the Earl of Östergötland, against Danish invaders from the south and Swedish conquerors from the north.

Holdings: After the death of his father, Áleifr was handed control of the Sagdjur Ravens band. Other than the mercenary band, who have followed him from Östergötland to Vanqland, Áleifr also rules over Velkysa, a small march on the northwestern border of Vanqland that controls the routes leading into Germany.

House Emblem: Since Áleifr is not of royal, or even prominent military, heritage he has always utilized the Sagdjur Raven Company's banner as his identifying emblem.

Notable Relations: Áleifr is the second cousin of Lars Nilsson, the Earl of Östergötland and Regent of the Kingdom of Svealand. During their childhoods, Lars (30) and his father would often visit Áleifr, his father, and the Sagdjur Ravens band for summer training regimens.

Military Might: As the leader of the Sagdjur Ravens band, Áleifr is in command of an intensely loyal group of men who have, since its founding by Áleifr's great-grandfather, Vallmar Aalberg, fought in battles all across Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and in Livland. Numbering 885 men, the Sagdjur Raven Company is a crack assault unit that specializes in breaking through enemy lines and destroying the enemy's morale. Other than the mercenary band, Áleifr also commands a small standing army of 1,500 Vanqman peasants. While ill-trained now, Áleifr has had the Sagdjur Ravens train them in order to transform them into a professional and capable army.

Loyalties: Despite being the captains of a mercenary band Áleifr and his ancestors have always been fiercely loyal to whatever fief they happened to be contracted to fight under. As of right now their loyalty has been bought by the King of Vanqland, Maximus Fairway.

Biography:
Áleifr was born on a blazing summer day in a tiny village a dozen or so kilometers south of Visby, the largest city on Gotland, to Alvar Haroksson and Maja Erlingsdotter. The eldest son and second-oldest in his family, Áleifr assumed a lot of responsibility at an early age as his family kept growing and his father campaigned with the Sagdjur Ravens mercenary company during the spring, summer, and early fall. Rarely allowed to shirk his duties and play with the village children Áleifr had to stay home and help his mother on the family's small farm by tending to the few crops the family could grow and to the pigs, goats, and geese they raised. As a result Áleifr spent most of his free time either playing with his younger siblings in the nearby woods or listening to the martial tales of his bedridden and progressively ailing great-grandfather, Ragvald Sigarsson. A few months after Áleifr turned seven, Ragvald Sigarsson died. More than anyone else, Áleifr mourned the death of his great-grandfather. He grew so depressed that whenever he heard anyone speak of Ragvald he would tear up and run away. Needless to say, this activity brought about harsh punishments from both his mother and father who believed that a strong Swede didn't cry over the death of a loved one. As time went on, though, Áleifr adjusted to life without his great grandfather.

A month after his eihgth birthday, as was common practice for boys with fathers in the Sagdjur Ravens, Áleifr was taken by his father from the family farm to the Ravens' training base in a once abandoned castle along the road from Gothenburg to Stockholm. There, for the next four years, Áleifr trained to join the Sagdjur Ravens mercenary company that his great grandfather had founded over seventy years before. Subjected to strict, all-day training regimens, Áleifr quickly became well known for being a tough, no nonsense trainee who was blunt and didn't mince words. He repeatedly impressed his instructors with both his martial prowess and quickly rose to the top of his "class". Of course, Áleifr's efforts didn't impress his father, the second-in-command of the mercenary band, who believed that all of Áleifr's successes were the minimum for a legendary warrior. Áleifr, used to his father's exceedingly high expectations, was unperturbed by his father's lack of praise and continued to work and train hard. The day he turned fifteen Áleifr was inducted into the mercenary band and given command of the Sagdjur Ravens' fourth company. The ensuing celebration would prove to be the last time Áleifr saw his father be so filled with pride for him.

A month later Alvar and his two brothers, Salmund Haroksson and Jusse Haroksson, left the base in order to negotiate a contract with Folkmar Skaldsson, the chief of the nearby village of Litenström. In route the three were surrounded by two companies from Kjell Jakobsson's Knut Raiders, a rival mercenary band who the Sagdjur Ravens had often found on the opposite side of the battlefield. The ensuing ambush ended with Alvar and Salmund dead, Jusse mortally wounded, and the death of over fifty of the 200 ambushers. When Jusse arrived back at the castle, bleeding and barely alive, and told everyone of the news, the Ravens were outraged. Áleifr, now the captain of the Sagdjur Ravens, called for calm, knowing that the pissed off mercenary band would lose if they attacked Jakobsson in such a state. Instead he told them that they would wait a month and consolidate their strength before engaging with Jakobsson's men. Although there were grumbles over the seeming weakness of the plan, the outraged Ravens accepted Áleifr's plan and waited. After the month passed by, and funerals were held for Alvar, Salmund, and Jusse, who had died shortly after arriving back at the castle, Áleifr led the Sagdjur Ravens into battle and ambushed the Knut Raiders. The ensuing battle ended with the scattering of the Raiders and the capture and beheading of Kjell Jakobsson by Áleifr.

For the next seven years Áleifr would lead his brethren into successful battle after successful. His reputation across Svealand and Götaland quickly grew to a level his father, a right competent warrior himself, never knew. Whenever enemy troops heard the name Alvarsson, the legends said, they would scatter for fear of being massacred and tortured by Sweden's newest legendary warrior; like the once famous Kjell Jakobsson had allegedly been. Of course, as one's popularity and reputation grows, enemies and opponents are always quick to appear. One particularly powerful enemy who feared Áleifr's growing power was none other than Ivar II Ulfriksson, the King of Svealand. The relationship between Áleifr and Ivar Ulfriksson went back to the days when he was still a young Ravens trainee. The story goes that then-Prince Ivar was scouring the Swedish countryside for an opponent who would fight Ivar Ulfriksson the knight-in-training and not Ivar Ulfriksson, the Prince of Svealand. Ivar, who was well known for his skill with a sword and shield, fully expected to quickly defeat the younger Áleifr. The ensuing beatdown that Áleifr delivered to Ivar proved to be a scarring event for the young prince. He withdrew himself from his family, ignored his knight training, and surrounded himself with beautiful foreign women and massive amounts of food and drink.

With Áleifr's popularity growing among both the peasantry and nobles, Ivar, who was now the king, grew more and more paranoid over rumors that Áleifr was plotting to overthrow him and give the throne over to Lars Nilsson, the Earl of Östergötland, Áleifr's second cousin, and the third-most powerful man in Sweden after Ivar Ulfriksson and Vakre Ragnulfsson, the Earl of Västmanland. For years he became obsessed with taking out both Áleifr and Lars Nilsson. So much so that he manipulated many of the nobles into attacking Lars' capital of Linköping and the largely defenseless villages of Östergötland. As villages burned and bodies piled up, Lars, infuriated by his king's machinations, secretly called the six other earls of Götaland's seven provinces to a meeting in Linköping. There he called for a vote on rebelling against Ivar Ulfriksson and installing a new king in his stead. Of the six earls, five of them assented to Lars' request. They, too, had experienced some of the same terror that Ivar had prescribed to Östergötland and were tired of it. Of the two dissenting earls, one, Matz Pallsson, the Earl of Gotland, promised to stay out of the war while the other, Nikulas Kaspersson, the Earl of Dalsland, denounced them all as traitors and swore to crush them with his bare hands. The following month Lars contracted Áleifr and the Sagdjur Ravens and rebelled against Ivar II Ulfriksson, the King of Svealand.

The ensuing war, known as the Nilsson Rebellion, went poorly for the loyalists from the start. While Lars and the main rebel force marched slowly towards Stockholm from Östergötland, Áleifr and an army led by Marten Frostensson, the Earl of Västergötland, marched through and conquered the provinces of Dalsland, Värmland, and Närke. As the two armies marched toward Filipstad, the capital of Värmland, Frostensson's army was ambushed and defeated by an army led by Vakre Ragnulfsson. Ragnulfsson, who personally disliked Ivar Ulfriksson, but swore loyalty to the King of Svealand, called on Áleifr to surrender. When Áleifr, adhering to the lessons of contract loyalty his father had taught him a decade before, refused Ragnulfsson attacked. The following battle, known as the Battle of the Tät Skog, was bloody and contentious, but proved to be Áleifr's greatest victory and shifted the momentum of the war fully towards Lars Nilsson and the rebels. After news of Áleifr's victory over Vakre Ragnulfsson reached the ears of Ivar Ulfriksson, the king grew increasingly intransigent. When Ragnulfsson, who had escaped death at the Tät Skog, urged Ivar to abdicate the throne and surrender himself to the rebels, the deranged king had him and his retinue executed and Ragnulfsson's head placed on a pike outside of the Nyköping Castle Ivar had holed himself up in.

Ragnulfsson's execution galvanized the rebel forces and caused Grifkil Haldafsson, the Earl of Uppland, to join the rebel forces who had, by then, surrounded Stockholm and laid siege to the starving city. For three weeks the loyalists resisted the rebels. Whenever a rebel messenger offered surrender to Ivar Ulfriksson he was executed and tossed off of Stockholm's defensive walls. This, understandably, angered Lars, who couldn't understand how stupid Ivar Ulfriksson was being. With the death of the third messenger Lars prepared plans for assaulting Stockholm's walls and taking the city. Before he could do so news arrived from a loyalist soldier that Ivar II Ulfriksson, the man that had terrorized Östergötland and Götaland to a lesser extent, had been assassinated by Äsbjörn Linqvist, one of his bodyguards. Shortly thereafter, Sigfrid Svensson, Ivar's chief general, surrendered Stockholm to Lars and called for peace. Lars gladly accepted the offer and the next day the rebel troops, with the Sagdjur Ravens at the front, marched triumphantly into a burning and crumbling Stockholm, handing out scraps of food to the city's residents in the process. A month later, Ivar's nine-year old son, Eggert Ivarsson, was crowned the King of Svealand with Lars Nilsson acting as his regent until he turned fifteen and assumed the full powers and responsibilities of his position.

While Sweden celebrated the ascension of a new king and a return to peace after two years of war, Áleifr's fate was decidedly less celebratory. Following Eggert Ivarsson's coronation, Áleifr was appointed to be the new king's personal bodygaurd. Almost immediately the earls who had remained loyal to Ivar Ulfriksson, some of the rebel earls, and both of the Bishops of Svealand and Götaland objected to Áleifr, who had developed a reputation akin to the one the ancient Romans had given to the German barbarians, being placed in such close proximity to the young and impressionable king who had begun to express some of the gluttonous aspects of his father's ugly personality. Lars, unable to resist the political pressure, relieved Áleifr of his duties and promised the nobility that he wouldn't place Áleifr into a position of power again. Unfortunately for Áleifr that action wasn't enough for the clergymen in the Catholic Church, who demanded that Áleifr not only be banned from the Court, but that he also be forced out of Sweden. Lars, still reeling from his prior political defeat, also acquiesced to the demands coming from the office of Christianus Baltasarsson, the Archbishop of Svealand and told Áleifr in person that he and the Sagdjur Ravens had to leave Sweden peacefully lest he be forced to call on the Earls to do the job using swords and arrows. Áleifr, understanding Lars' predicament, consented to the Archbishop's demands and left Sweden with his loyal mercenary band and their families.

For two years Áleifr and his comrades wandered around mainland Europe, contracting with numerous lords and kings along the Baltic coast. Wherever he fought victory for his contractor was sure to follow and chests of gold for the Ravens was guaranteed. Áleifr's travels soon brought him to service under Maximus Fairway, the King of Vanqland and scourge of central Europe. Under Fairway's patronage, Áleifr and the Sagdjur Ravens achieved even greater riches and a legendary reputation as extremely skilled warriors capable of deciding the direction of any battle they were involved with. Fairway, pleased with Áleifr's no nonsense way of running his mercenary band, named him the Margrave of Velkysa, a small strip of land that not only controls the northern roads leading to the capital of Vanqland, but is also rich in iron and other valuable metals. In addition to being the Margrave of Velkysa, Áleifr has also been named the Captain of the Royal Guard and is charged with protecting Maximus Fairway.

Religious Views: Áleifr and the Sagdjur Ravens practice a modified version of Catholicism that has Swedish and Guntish cultural aspects attached to it.

Combat Abilities: As a Swedish warrior who has been training for twenty years and fighting for nearly fifteen, Áleifr has become extremely proficient in using swords, spears, and axes. He excels in offensive warfare and achieves his best results when fighting on empty plains or battling it out in thick forest lands where surprise and ambushes are key.

Weapons:
Åska - A sword, name meaning thunder, that has been passed down since Áleifr's seventh great grandfather, Harik Karlsson, obtained it during a raid on an Irish church.
Järn and Hacka- A shield and seax, names meaning iron and hack, respectively, that Áleifr's father gave to him on his fifteenth birthday.

Skills: As someone's who's been fighting since he was fifteen and training since he was eight, Áleifr has developed a knack for tactical thinking and hand-to-hand combat. He is also fairly good at a variety of sports, both Swedish and foreign in origin.

Sagdjur Ravens Mercenary Band
Formed over a eighty years ago by Áleifr's great grandfather, Ragvald Sigarsson, the Sagdjur Ravens are a mercenary band originating from the lands of Gotland and Östergötland who are led by Áleifr Jusse-Salmund Alvarsson. An 885-man wrecking machine, the Sagdjur Ravens maintain an especially strict chain of command and training regimen. First instituted by Áleifr's father, Alvar Haroksson, the Ravens' chain of command divides the mercenary band into four 213-man companies and one thirty-three-man guard unit for Áleifr. Each of the four companies roughly consist of 40% light infantry, 15% heavy infantry, 15% pikemen, 20% archers and 10% cavalry.

Notes:
"Ah-lay-fur" is how you pronounce Áleifr's name.
If you are interested in following Áleifr's journey then I'd suggest looking here and here.
Also, I'd appreciate it if you all would tell me about any story and character inconsistencies, as well as typos, that you happen to find.
I hope you enjoyed reading about Áleifr. Thank you.

Distinguishing Features:

Holdings:
As a Knight, Robert owns no land. He hasn't been in service of the King for very long and therefore has no holdings. His life is but to protect the Royal family.

House Emblem:
A dragon on it's roost breathing fire.

Notable relations:
None except the other Knights as brothers in arms.

Military Might:
As a Knight in the King's guard Robert is sworn by oath to protect the kingdom and its ruler. He poses no threat to the King except for if he became an oathbreaker.

Loyalties:
Robert and his kin are loyal to the crown. His family has always served in the Kingdom's best interests.

Bio:
Growing up as a member of a family in service to the crown, Robert was raised in the way of combat. His father was a Knight wounded long ago while serving under the command of General Maximus, the current king. Without the ability to fight, he focused on training his three sons. Robert, the youngest, excelled greatly in the ways of the sword and after displaying his skill in the local tourney when he beat his brother in the final he was offered a place in the King's guard. His eldest brother joined the military where as the middle brother became a wanderer. When Robert turned 20, his father succumbed to the long term effects of his injuries and passed away and, in her grief, his mother moved back to their original home in the countryside where she resided with her 2nd son. Robert, with his commitments to the crown, remained in the Capital but occasionally paid visit to them where as the eldest Brother rarely found reprieve from the military. Robert continues to serve the royal family closely and protects them both in the capital and on any excursions they partake in.

Robert has a very light-hearted approach to situations. Having being the youngest of three, he became quickly acclimatised to being the underdog and the bottom of the food chain. In times of severity he often falls back on humour and using such a defensive technique to keep people at a distance. Not given for relying on others for support, his independence sees him trying to take the world on on himself and he uses the skills he has gained to cement his victory in this endeavour.

Religious Views:
Robert gives little thought to the rulers up above. He is simply content to class himself as catholic but is open to variations in the mythos of the world.

Combat abilities:
Fluent in the ways of the sword, Robert's skill is above the average soldier's. He has trained with a blade in his hand since being a young a boy and the recent training he has received while being a Knight has only served to accentuate his abilities. While preferring to fight with a free hand, Robert has also adapted his fighting style to include a shield should the situation call for it and has training to an adept degree with blunt weaponry such as maces.

Skills:
Horse riding, lute playing, cooking.

Pinecliff is a relatively large establishment in Northern Vanqland. It derives its name from the pine-trees that are harvested from the mountain side. It is one of the most wealthy establishments in Vanqland thanks to its specialty in providing most of the wood to the nation. It houses a population of 20,000 most of them able to live comfortably except for the few beggers in the street. Their motto is Strike True. The symbol is a Great Pine and the animal is a Great Bald Eagle

House Emblem:
Massur Coat of Arms

Notable relations:

Pinecliff's military is 9,000 men strong. In times of need, another 2,000 can be gathered but that will greatly deplete Pinecliff's resources.

Loyalties:
Pinecliff is loyal to the crown unless the Massur's believe that their people are in danger. The current rumors toward the crown are starting to sway the Pinecliff's loyalty, though Elric Massur is currently at court to try and win the hand of one of the King's daughters.

Bio:
Elric was born during the WinterNacht, a winter that is infamous throughout Vanqland because of its terribly short days, frighteningly long nights, and the many lives that it claimed. Pinecliff was relatively safe during this time, having plenty of wood to eat their homes, but toward the end of the season, their trees were few thanks to supplying the timber throughout the land. As WinterNacht finally passed into Spring, Summer, and Autumn, Elric grew into a rambunctious young boy who always had a tree to climb and a horse to ride.

His mother, Evelyn of the Riverveil, was a beautiful woman of many virtues. She would talk and sing with her son and was known to say her piece in terms of diplomacy. His father, Aldis of Pinecliff, was a strong man of few joys. He would rather spend his time in the mountains than at home with his family and responsibilities. Rumors would run through Pinecliff of Aldis's lack of governance. This was fine with most of the individuals because that meant that Duchess Evelyn was taking the reins.

Grief fell on the family when Elric was five years old. His mother died while giving birth to his sister. His sister survived and in his parents' absence, Elric was given the responsibility of naming her and he decided on Edeva. As she grew older, Elric had the pleasure of educating her about the Pinecliffs and their mother. She was a beautiful girl who favored Evelyn as if they were meant to be twins. Unfortunately, Edeva had her father's temper and during an argument sliced at Elric's face with a dagger, forming the scar above his eye.

At 17, his father died during a logging accident. The responsibility as Duke of Pinecliffnow rested on Elric's shoulders. It was during that year that his 12 year old sister was to be married off to the Duke of SouthernHaven's nephew and he was to be married to his daughter, Nyrida. Nyrida was a beautiful teenager who had been kissed by the sun. Her red hair was vibrant and stood out from her pale skin. Elric swore that she was the most beautiful creature that he had ever seen and they lived many happy years together.

After 17 short years, Nyrida became deathly ill with fever and passed away within hours. The sudden death of his love crippled Elric and he grieved for two years until it was reminded to him that Pinecliff had no heirs in case of his own untimely demise and he needed to marry again soon to have a child. This is what brings him to Court.

Height: 6'1
Weight: 190lbs
Clothing: 1 2 3

Distinguishing Features:
The King is considered to be very good looking for his age and hardly seems to have aged at all. He's got dozens of scars from his years in war and two particularly distinct ones on his back. These scars on two long, vertical marks that run symmetrically on either side of his spine. Both of his ears are pierced and some say his eyes are rumored to change color.

Holdings:
Besides holding all of the Kingdom, The King is a member of the ancient House of Fairway which traditionally holds an area referred to as The Red Hills. These ancestral lands will be given to his youngest daughter upon her marriage and are rich in crops, hunting lands, and most importantly the finest horses in the country. The center of the hold, which boasts around 10,000 people, is the large mercantile community of Slourick. It contains a rather famed stronghold, called The Summer House by the locals, that includes an impressive moat and the luxury of being surrounded by hill country. This doesn't make it the most formidable fort in Vanqland by any stretch of the imagination but it allows fantastic visibility and an abundance of access to resources that would make laying siege to it less than pleasant. This is also the home of the Fairways for most of the year and is currently looked after by Maximus' mother. The Fairways are most famous for the warhorses they breed. A mix of sturdy German stock and an ancient line of desert horses, they are fast, smart, and powerful beasts that make The Red Hills famous for their cavalry's might.

House Emblem: Two black pegasuses in rearing in protection or combat X
Notable relations: Obviously being the king makes him the most important person to have relations with. His mother was the cousin to the King of Spain so he has some relations there. Obviously the princesses are his daughters and his late wife was a noblewoman from Prussia.
Military Might: The Fairway lands hold a considerable army loyal solely to Maximus. He also has the power to call the noble houses of the land and their armies to his banner.
Loyalties: The Crown

Bio:
There are many questions concerning Maximus' rise from one of the youngest sons of a widowed noblewoman to being King of all of Vanqland. Some of these concerns can be addressed by simply looking at the man's history. Others remain a mystery.

Lady Penny Fairway was born Penny Corvo, a second cousin to the King of Spain. When she was fourteen she was married to Lord Russel of the Red Hills, a man twenty years her senior who had little time for affection for his young bride. Over the next twenty years, Penny bore her cold husband five children, all sons and all of whom took after their fair skin and eyed mother with the exception of second youngest, Maximus. While Maximus' eldest brother Corvin was trained to rule The Red Hills, Varic and Edward who were twins, pursued careers as military men. Maximus was expected to take up the cloth like his youngest brother, Leeland, or busy himself with schooling or something to that effect. At the age of sixteen, Maximus bucked against his dying father and his mother's wishes and rode for the Capital to pledge his services to the King.

Maximus had always had a talent for combat and proved himself again and again under the King's watchful eye. The elderly Monarch was the last of Vanqland's ancient line of rulers. Do to plagues and inbreeding and plethora of other problems, the King was weak of body but strong of mind. He had no taste for women or men and wasted his years in books and learning unbefitting of a man meant to run a country. The King though, for whatever reason, took a liking to young Maximus, much to the scorn of his parents and brothers. The Fairways had never had good relations with the Crown and had refused to ride on the last few conflicts the King's negligence has lead Vanqland into.

Maximus, however, obviously saw some opportunity his brothers and family did not. Despite his disobedience, his mother made a good match for him in a young Prussian Duchess who dowry was several large stallions to add to the breeding pool of the Fairway's horses and more important, a good sized group of men that would loyal to Maximus alone. They were married on the eve of Maximus' eighteenth birthday.

Defensive wars waged constantly in the last years of the King who seemed to have less and less interest in handling them himself. Maximus, through deceit or charm or black magic, wormed his way closer and closer to the ailing Monarch and was soon in control of Vanqland's scattered and disorganized army. He didn't receive the title of general until he turned twenty one. The announcement was a shock to most of the country, who all marveled that a boy from the Red Hills had found himself as one of the most powerful men in the country.

It was in this year that both Lord Russel and Corvin died. His father from his illness and his brother in a duel over a serving girl. Maximus hardly seemed phased but pleased enough that Varic and Edward returned home to rule his family's lands. As the King's health failed and Maximus' grip on the army tightened, the defensive wars that Vanqland had been barely pushing back were suddenly being totally repelled. Under Maximus' leadership, invasions from Britain and France were pushed back. For the first time in decades, Vanqland's armies began campaigns in the territory of others.

The wars were won in Maximus' twenty third year. A treaty was drawn with France and Britain was beaten badly enough that it seemed unlikely they would cross the channel seeking Vanqland anytime soon. The old King praised his young general as did many other nobles, but something in all of this didn't sit right with his remaining brothers. His youngest brother Leeland had gained a considerable following as a priest and had risen to being a man of great religious importance in the country. Suddenly denouncing his brother as a heretic and a demon, Leeland with the backing of Varic and Edward, brought war on the capital. Lady Penny refused to permit the armies of the Red Hills to aid in a war between her sons, so Varic and Edward gathered the noblemen who were loyal to Leeland's religious leadership.

The war that followed was bloody and hardwon. Maximus had secured the loyalty of most of the Southern nobles so the war was brief and full of casualties to those who rode against him. Varic and Edward were both killed in battle while Leeland was banished by the King for his insolence against his favorite general. The war had barely lasted a year, so on Maximus' twenty fourth birthday, he was named the heir to the King of Vanqland. The King died a year later and Maximus began his reign.

His first steps as King were to build the armies of Vanqland and a win back any territory lost during the reign of the old King. He worked hard to make good relations with the nobles in North and the remains of those who had risen against him. His wife passed away shortly after the birth of his younger daughter, Lillith, and the King showed no interest in marrying since.

In the twenty years since he took the throne, Maximus has fought many wars and battles, both politically and with sword and shield. Named 'The Scourge of Europe' he made his capabilities known and not lost a war. He has been silent on religious matters and while has not directly persecuted the Catholic Church, he has been quietly reclaiming power from it. He has, however, made great bounds in widening the freedoms of women, making laws that empower widows and noblewomen who wish to rule without the authority of a man. Many believe Penny had something to do with that. A number of rumors have risen from the King's private lifestyle. Some say he takes men to bed, others that he is bewitched by a sorceress or sorcerer, and of course it persistently suggested that the King worships demons.
The King is considered to be a mysterious man. Charming and diplomatic when he's pleased, violent and frightening when he's not. He's considered a man of action but is also perfectly clever and conniving to get things done out of sight.
Religious Views: Pagan of the demonic variety

Combat abilities: Maximus is known for his abilities in combat. He's a powerful warrior and has never lost a duel nor a war he participated in. He is adept in swordplay and maces but is perfectly capable of improvising with whatever is available to him at the time. He is rumored to have unnatural strength and speed. Some claim he's recovered from grievous injuries including having his throat cut on the battle field. But, it's difficult to distinguish fact from fiction.
Skills: Riding, anything to do with horses, charisma, and he's pretty good at dancing from what he says.

Height:5'7
Weight: 135 lbs
Clothing: x x
Distinguishing Features: As a dhampir Illia has two dainty fangs and pointed nails though she is careful with them.

Holdings: Illia is the bastard of a nobleman but will inherit nothing from him. The Von Bachlands do have a considerable house though it has fallen slightly due to her father's poor spending and lack of legitimate heirs. They used to be the primary source of gold for the kingdom.
House Emblem: Golden Laurel with sword and helm
Notable relations: Lord Heron Von Bachland- Father
Military Might: Though Illia, again, has no claim to her noble lineage, her father controls a decent sized force.
Loyalties: Illia is loyal to the crown, her father's house is also loyal.

Bio: Illia was fathered by Lord Heron Von Bachland, a noble who guards the Western border. Her mother was a vampiress who sought refuge at the noble house and served as Heron's mistress for a short time. When it became clear she was pregnant, Illia's mother was sent away to live in a summer home until Illia was born. She grew up in that summer home, away from her father and his vengeful wife and children. She was pained by the lack of acknowledgment she received by her father but had a mostly pleasant childhood, learning to be desirable and lovely to make a good match someday. When she turned thirteen she was sent to court away from her mother to learn under one of the princess' handmaidens. Since then she's lived at court and served the King and his daughters. As a courtesan her main duties are to be pleasant at parties, charm anyone who talks to her, and sometimes to keep an ear open for the King. She's also been asked to be the lover of various nobles by the King at different points but she has little qualm with it most of the time. She'd like to marry but isn't overly concerned with it. She's also fairly close with the princesses.

Her general disposition is quiet and watchful though she can fake her way through anything. She knows she's attractive and uses that to her advantage. She's quite a smart girl but has little chance to use it save for wrangling information from half drunk court goers.

Religious Views: Illia vaguely acknowledges some force of good and one of evil but hasn't put much thought into her real views. If asked she'll answer Catholic with a smile.

Combat abilities: She has no training whatsoever but due to her being half vampire, in the event that she would feel her life was threatened its likely she could must enough instinct to be dangerous.
Skills: Dancing, singing, sewing skills, charm, and is considered a master when it comes to games of wit.

They mainly specialize in coal and mining. Her great-great grandfather was given the title of Duke and the land from one of the previous kings since before then her family had been of knightly decent.
House Emblem: Her family's coat of arms is a wolf surrounded by a dark pine green.
Notable relations:
Clarissa Clayburn-Mother
Charles Clayburn-Father
Bellamy Clayburn-Brother
Francis Clayburn-Brother
Charlie Clayburn-Cousin
Military Might: They have a small military considering that they're up in the high mountains. They can fight a defensive war better than an offensive, if need be.
Loyalties: It is questionable who her family is loyal to anymore. At times they seem loyal to the crown, but at other times they seem to be in favor of the church.

Bio: Elizabeth is what you would consider the classic woman of her time. She is sweet, kind, and minds her manners just as a lady should. She never speaks unless spoken too, and is always considerate of others. She is a very selfless person and puts everyone in front of her. She will defend anyone she cares about, even if she knows they were wrong in doing something. Elizabeth does have a short temper, though she does very well at hiding it. You can tell when she angry by the fact that she won't look you in the eyes. She was taught you were always supposed to look someone in the eyes as a sign of respect, so this is a knowing sign to know if she's upset. Many would consider the young woman naive, but she is anything but. After her brothers returned from a small war between their family and another's, her eyes have been more open to the world around her. She doesn't have any laboring skills, but she does have social skills and knows her way around in aristocratic society.

Early Life- Elizabeth was born on Christmas day to a very happy Clarissa and Charles. Her mother had always wanted a daughter, while her father was just happy to have another child to continue on their bloodline. Elizabeth is the youngest of the three brothers and in all honesty wouldn't have it any other way. Her and her brother's always grew up close, even if many of her friends found it strange and un-ladylike. Other than playing with her brother's, Elizabeth's life was consumed with her studies. She is fluent in French, Italian, Spanish, and German. She immersed herself in her languages, not sure what else to do with her time. By the time she was becoming a lady, her brother's were already being shipped off to court women in different countries.

Teenage years- During her teenage years, she spent much of her time near the mines. Her brother's were off in god-knows-where, so she didn't have much else to do. Her parents quickly began to push for her to get married, but she just simply didn't want to. She liked her books and she liked her privacy, she didn't have time for marriage. When she turned sixteen, her parents shipped her off to Paris to live with a cousin who was immersed in the Royal Court there. He knew the ends and outs and promised to send her back to Vanqland with a husband in tow. When her eldest brother, Bellamy, got word of his sister's shipment to Paris, he got on the next ship back to France.

He didn't tell his parents he was in France, but opted out on living with his bachelor cousin and bachelorette sister. They went to parties nearly every night, met men and women of every nationality, but still none of them could find a spouse. It wasn't until the eve of Elizabeth's seventeenth birthday when they noticed a change in her. She was moody, sick every moment of every day, and everything a young unmarried woman of her status should be. Then she started showing.

To Bellamy's surprise and their cousin Charlie's amusement, she was pregnant with the child of one of Charlie's servants. At first the two men had assumed she had been raped, but when Elijah openly spoke up and claimed the child as his own and said he meant no harm to Elizabeth, they realized what was happening. Elizabeth and Elijah were the Romeo and Juliet of France.

Before the birth of their son, they held an unofficial marriage ceremony in Charlie's home. The only attendees were Bellamy, Charlie, and two other servants Charlie had. Charlie served as the preacher, even if he wasn't officially ordained. The wedding was held in the living room of Charlie's mansion and celebrated for many days. They were truly beginning to accept what was happening.

In September, Bellamy Charlemagne Clayburn-Douglass was born. For two years, it seemed things were getting worse, but in reality they were good. It also seemed that Elizabeth and her family were going to have a happy ending, but then her parents showed up in Paris. They didn't give her time to explain, instead they shipped both her and her brother off to Vanqland. To this day, Elizabeth regrets never saying goodbye, but Elijah and little Bellamy write her. Elizabeth lives for the day she'll see her son again.

Currently- Elizabeth and her brother's were reunited and currently live at court. Her youngest brother, Francis, is set to marry on Christmas day and it is the talk of the country. After all the aging Duke's son is getting married into an equally as wealthy family.

Religious Views: She herself is Pagen, but her family is Catholic

Combat abilities: Surprisingly, she is very skilled in the art of combat. Her father prided himself in teaching his little girl how to defend herself. Her favorite two types of weaponry are the bow and throwing knives.
Skills: riding, knows five languages including English

Other: Elizabeth knows she must be married to appease her parents, but she fears that no man will ever want her once they discover her secret.

Loyalties: He questions who is family is loyal too, but he considers himself loyal to the crown.

Bio: Charles moved to the England when he was barely out of his teen years. His family didn't approve of him being a writer and having "revolutionary ideas" against the Vanqland Crown. So he left in hopes of leaving the aristocracy and being able to speak out against the tyranny of the crown. Charles spent many nights drinking and sleeping with English whores. He didn't have any cares in the world and shockingly, enjoyed living from paycheck to paycheck. Being the youngest of his brothers, he didn't have to worry about being called back to Vanqland to carry on the family line. There were six heirs in front of him, so he basically disconnected himself from his family for a time.

He had lived peacefully in England for nearly five years when he suddenly got a surprise on his doorstep. To his dismay, it was his eldest brother. Arthur was there to find a suitable English wife for his brother, if there even was such a thing. It was no surprise that Arthur had secured an invite to one of the most influential families in England. The party was one of the biggest social events of the year and Charles was no fool to see what his brother was doing.

The Guise had to be one of the most influential families in England and he could clearly see what his family was doing. With reluctance, he attended the party and by the end of the night he never wanted to leave. He was infatuated with Clarissa. He was enchanted by her and on Christmas eve, they were married in London.

A year later, their first son was born.

Early years-

Bellamy was a happy child to say the least. During the spring and summer, he lived in London and during the fall and winter, he lived in Vanqland. Of course the highlight of his life was the time spent on king's road travelling between countries. Bellamy never was one for studies, unlike his father, and instead enjoyed learning how to use a gun and a sword. As a young boy, one would say that Bellamy was drunk on life. He valued everything and touched everyone in his wake. When his younger brothers, John and Francis, were born, he took on the role every older brother should. He shockingly helped his mother raise his younger brothers, putting down his guns and swords.

Teen Years-

By the time Elizabeth was born, Bellamy was already growing into a young man. He didn't see his youngest sibling as just his sister, but more as his daughter. Their father didn't show much attention to her and their mother was too wrapped up in the women of their social status to give notice to her young daughter. Couldn't the nannies handle the new addition? Of course. So Bellamy took it upon himself to raise his baby sister. When Bellamy turned sixteen, his parents sent him to live in England for good. They wanted him to be married by the time he turned eighteen, so he better start looking for wives then. The servants still swear they can hear Elizabeth's shrill scream as she was ripped away from her older brother. The servants also say they can remember the shock on the crowds face's as she called Bellamy, Daddy. To this day Bellamy regrets leaving his sister the way that he did, because he knew that his other siblings wouldn't care for he the same way that he did.

Once Bellamy was settled in England, it didn't take him long to find a suitable bride. When Bellamy and Kenna met, it was like a whirlwind romance. They were married by the time their next birthdays came around. Bellamy was only seventeen and Kenna was barely fifteen, but they still knew they loved each other. Of course, Bellamy was being pushed to have children, but he wished to wait. He didn't want to put his young bride through something as stressful as childbirth, but when she fell pregnant he was still happy.

They were both excited for the first of the Clayburn heirs to be born and couldn't have been more thrilled. Their happiness couldn't last long, though. Kenna ended up having a miscarriage seven months into the pregnancy and both hers and the babies lives were lost. So distraught over the loss, Bellamy didn't attend either funeral. Within days he returned to Vanqland to help raise his siblings.

Adult years-

Elizabeth and Bellamy ended up more as father and daughter than sister and brother. He centered his whole life around Elizabeth as a way to hide his true feelings. When their parents first began pushing her to get married, he fought them for months. His parents came to an agreement that if he returned to England to help his brothers, then they would hold off until Elizabeth grew older. To protect Elizabeth, he agreed to go to England.

In just a few months, Elizabeth wrote him explaining to him that she was sent to Paris. Immediately, Bellamy went to France. Things were good for awhile until his sister fell pregnant. Bellamy instantly felt like he had failed at being a brother and a parent figure. It wasn't until he saw the love between Elijah and Elizabeth that he accepted it. He could see the same love he had for Kenna between the two. So when little Bellamy was born, he felt like he was getting another chance at being a parent. Of course, as usual in Bellamy's life, his parents came in to ruin things.

Religious Views: Pagen

Combat abilities: Like many in his family, he immersed himself into comabt. It is what he knows and many of times he practices his swordsmanship with the servants and men around the castle. Anytime an army is raised for war, well count Bellamy to be there.
Skills: riding, knows his way around a sword, hand-to-hand combat, decent political skills

Bio: John is your classic gentleman. He was raised under the influence of his brother and it's safe to say that for once his brother did something right. John is selfless and puts everyone he cares about in front of him. In all honesty, he would take a bullet for a total stranger. He touches everyone he comes in contact with and they may even leave as a better person. Don't be fooled, though, like the rest of the Clayburn family he puts up a front when you first meet him. He won't be as open and outgoing, but once you know him and gain his trust, well the rest is written in history.

Early Years-

John was born on May 15. To his mother's amusement, he shared a birthday with his father, but his father could care less. Just like Bellamy, he grew up traveling between countries. The only difference between his brother and him was that he wanted to explore the world. He made it his mission to travel to every corner of the world before he died. Which at only ten years old, it seemed possible. While living at the Clayburn Keep during the hot summer months, John was greatly influenced by his Uncle Arthur. He was basically a little shadow of the aging Duke and mimicked everything that he did. Arthur grew a strong respect for the still growing boy and when John was only twelve years old, he was named the heir to Arthur. Arthur didn't have any kids of his own, because every child one of his wives bore him didn't live to see their teen years. Since John was named heir to all of the Clayburn fortune, there has been a rift within the family. Since John was named the heir, Arthur's younger brothers all felt that they were shamed. They didn't understand why Arthur changed the line of succession to the children of their youngest brother. Since then, majority of their children have been married into other families across Europe or serve as knights in the army.

Teen Years and Adult Years-

By the time John was fourteen, he moved to England permanently along with Bellamy. He had never been close to his parents, so he saw it as the right decision. When he was sixteen and not ready to marry, he left England with his Uncle's blessing to travel the world. His uncle pulled some strings and got the King of England to commission him a ship. Too bad for John, he never made it past France. When his ship landed in France for a short time to pick up more sailors, he noticed a young woman walking along the docks. It was clear she didn't belong there and he approached her. He knew little French, so it was hard to communicate, but with the help of his first mate, John got his point across.

In less than a year, John was married to Nicole de Lecrant. Her family held a noble title, so his family blessed the marriage. They seemed a match made in heaven, but happiness couldn't last forever. John was slightly disappointed when their first child was a little baby girl. He of course tried to hide his disappointment, but Nicole was no fool. For the next five years, they worried because Nicole couldn't get pregnant or if she did get pregnant, she'd have a miscarriage. Finally, after years, Nicole gave birth to a healthy baby boy on New Years Day.

John was overjoyed and for the first time in years, the couple seemed happy, which was why everyone was shocked when Nicole left John for another man. She left her kids behind in England and fled back with a French soldier. She didn't leave a note or anything to explain her disappearance. Reluctantly, in the spring, a year later, John filed for abandonment. It seemed no one could find his beloved wife, not even her own family. Elizabeth just snickered when she found out. People claim she muttered, "That whore was bat shit crazy anyway."

John was far too hurt to even imagine getting married again. He tries to be the best father he can to his children, and watches over them fiercely. Arthur brings suitors by about once a month, but doesn't try to push his nephew into anything. When Elizabeth arrived back in Vanqland, John's spirits seemed to be lifted. He knew his children needed a mother figure and that she missed her own child, so he tries to include her in everything they do. It is safe to say though that John is very much broken on the inside and wants some distant from everything.
Religious Views: Pagen

Combat abilities: Very skilled in combat, specifically a bow. He taught Elizabeth everything he knows, while Bellamy taught John everything he knows with a sword.
Skills: Riding, hand-to-hand combat, military strategy, anything to do with the military

Name: Francis Charlemagne Clayburn
Title: Third in line to be Duke of Clarke
Age: 26 (Ten months older than Elizabeth)
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Relationship Status: May or may not be engaged, may or may not have just started a war.
Species: Half-human, doesn't know of his other half

Appearance:
Gyeot.gif

Height: 6'1
Weight: 175
Clothing: Very grand and at times colorful. He loves to have the attention to be on him.
Distinguishing Features: Dark Clayburn eyes

Holdings: His family holds the land that makes up majority of the Clarke mountain range in the northeast. There isn't a large population there, hardly reaching 5,000, but everyone seems happy. They mainly specialize in coal and mining. His great-great grandfather was given the title of Duke and the land from one of the previous kings since before then her family had been of knightly decent.
House Emblem: Wolf against a pine green
Notable relations: Bellamy Clayburn, Elizabeth Clayburn, John Clayburn, Charles Clayburn, Mary Clayburn, Charlie Clayburn
Military Might: They have a small military considering that they're up in the high mountains. They can fight a defensive war better than an offensive, if need be.
Loyalties: He considers himself loyal to the houses of the north then the church

Bio: Born ten months before Elizabeth, it's easy to say he is seen as the baby brother. He is actually seen more of the baby than Elizabeth because she was more interested in swords than he ever was. By this point, well, his birth was overlooked by his father and he became an easy pawn in his father's schemes to advance the Clayburn name into the next generation. There isn't much to be said about Francis. Other than his wild spirit that he shares with his siblings, he's the polar opposite. He grew up close to his mother and that's the end of the story up until his father arranged him a marriage. He hated the woman in simple terms, so when he saw the chance, well he ran. Oh yeah, he also happened to hear he had a nephew, so he had to address that as well.
Religious Views: Catholic

Combat abilities: None
Skills: Riding, singing, writing, knows French and Spanish, good with speeches and diplomacy

Name: Tyra Monday
Title: Hand maiden to Elizabeth Clayburn
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Relationship Status: Single
Species: Half-Human, does not know of her other half.

Appearance:

tumblr_nk55aiLC4Y1rrwnsbo3_r2_250.gif

Height: 5'7
Weight: 130
Clothing: She is usually seen in a simple green dress that is worn by many of the other servants. Hers is more grand and noble looking since Elizabeth passed it down to her, making the statement that, "No servant of mine will be seen in rags. What will those pompous southerners think of us?"
Distinguishing Features: Mole on her hip bone, same as her father

Holdings: N/A
House Emblem: N/A
Notable relations:
Charles Clayburn-Father
Military Might: N/A
Loyalties: She herself is loyal to the church. She sees it foolish to deal with politics such as the crown.

Bio: There isn't much to say about the young girl other than the fact that she is the bastard child of a whore and one of the most influential families in the north. Charles has always treated Tyra as a daughter, but none of his other children know her as such. Since she was old enough, she has been in service of Elizabeth and that is how it should be until the end of time. Many a time the girl and Elizabeth disagree and hardly ever see eye to eye, but they see a friend within the other. That is all Charles could ever hope for. Tyra herself is quiet and never outspoken. She didn't seem to inherit the wild spirit that much of the other Clayburn's seem to encompass. It is also obvious that she inherited her mother's looks for she doesn't resemble anyone within the family. With her blonde hair and blue eyes, it is questionable if she is even Charles' bastard.
Religious Views: Catholic

Combat abilities: None to speak of
Skills: Everything a young servant girl should know. Elizabeth has also taught her how to read and write, but as for skills, well none to really speak of.

Distinguishing Features:

Holdings: The Gethenwood is a Mid-sized Duchy Southwest of Vanqland averaging around several hundred squared kilometers. It is said that it has its eyes set on gaining more woodland to the north which is held by a minor noble. Its population has been rumored to be slowly decreasing since it's establishment . Several fortifications dot the only path through the untouched forest of the region which are as treacherous as the legends that surround it. {a} Its population ranges from settlement to fortifications though last counting said it was about 380,000. Most of it populating the two largest cities on either side of the southern part of the region. What it lacks in food to give to the King it makes up for in it's crafts, woodworking is a common hobby of the people along with hunting as well as botany. A plethora of medical plants and such can be found in large variety in the Gethenwood They provide little resources to the King other than their crafts and its revenue through trade . Though they do bring in a fair amount of gold from their mercenaries. Their uses??? Strategic sitting. Only known route through the Gathenwoods. People say the entire region is cursed. Haunted by foul demons who stalk around in the skin of men. It is said that when travelling through the region to stay on road that goes straight no turns, for fear of death. Caravans that wish to travel through the Gethenwood are always escorted by an armed company. {See COURT GOSSIP H}
House Emblem: A kite shield with a black tree on it.
Notable relations:
Baron Godrick Di Apollo: Neighbors, trade partners, and their families have been friends for a very long time. Gethenian Mercenaries often go to the Silver Cape looking for work. Many are swooped up to be warriors upon Silver Cape merchant ships. They buy most of their food from the Silver Cape. Tristan looks to Godrick for advice on trade as well as support in times of conflict. The Gethenwood supports The Silver Cape in military affairs, offering its forces to the Silver Cape when they are called upon. Many of the caravans that go through the Gethenwood are from the Silver Cape

King Maximus Fairway: Friend of his father's. Sees the king as a sort of Uncle figure. He was taught the ways of Court by the King. He looks to the King for wisdom when dealing with the people of the Royal Courts. Trade routes are granted to the King. Look to the Vanqland to aid them in times of war. Gethenian archers are common sight in the army of Vanqland.

Military Might: They may not have the food to feed themselves in a long fight when facing an army from the east they are more then able to defend themselves from attacks from the west seeing as their major trading partners lie to their east. They have drawn many an army into their borders on the mad search for their capital. Which is said to be somewhere deep in the forest. Causing some to believe the rumors about the Morrwood clan of being descendants of forest monsters. The fact they only have one road and several scattered fortifications that are not set upon the road gives them the advantage of the enemy having to advance off road and into the forest to face them. This tactic has saved them from many who have attempted to conquer them.

Loyalties: It is said that they owe no allegiance to the Crown, but they will fight to the death to defend it. The relations between the Royal house and the House of Morrwood are known to be superb though just a generation before the two were almost at war. Some say the Gethenian 's launched an assassination attempt on the royal family. But that is often said to be nothing more than false gossip, by the two families.

Bio: He was born to the House of Morrwood. Which meant a life of hardship. Not financially but physically. Physical training stated young. His Father taking note of the legends of the ancient world. Had decided he would train his sons to be molds of such images. Hunting and tracking were the first lessons Tristan was taught. Writing and fighting were the next lessons to be engraved into his core. He spent most of his life either in combat or training for combat. It was not tell he had arrived in Vanqland that he learned the arts of Court. That being said he is still prone to outbursts when overwhelmed. He spent a few years in the Silver Cape gaining his sea legs as an consort upon a few royal merchant ships.

Religious Views: OPENLY PAGAN.. As are his kin and folk. You will find no church in the Gethenwood.

Combat abilities: Archery, duel wielding and knife fighting are his preferred assortment though he is no novice when it comes to the wielding of other light arms.

Skills: Archery, has been a natural at it since his upcoming, hunting {tracking, stealth, traps, bait.}, Swordplay and . Is great at running through forests and other such environments. He is a great rider of horses, Though his sword fighting on horseback may need a bit more help…. {<----Bait for new friends hopefully!!} Is not a bad cook, given the right spices.
Other: (Anything that isn't included above) {Will be adding his weapons and such later}

V------WILL BE BEING UPDATED
{COURT GOSSIP!!!!!!!!GET YOUR LATEST UPDATE ON DAMMING UNCENSORED GOSSIP!!!!!!!!}

Court Rumor about his Birth. Some claim they know that his mother was a Fea. And that his father had sold his soul to a witch for the claim over the land of Gethenwood, talk says Tristan's father sold him to the king to ensure that Vanqland and Gethenwood would remain allies.
Some claim that Tristan has also had dealings with the forces of the devils and demons. Though this stems from hateful slander from the radical church followers due to him being openly pagan as well as the rumors surrounding his parents.
Some say the land of Gethenwood is actual home to the with of the wood a female demon who is said to be the queen of the wood. This legend has found it's way to Tristan's mother. Who is claimed to be this witch.

The Gethenwood and the Church have had their differences settle upon the field of battle. Early church tried to invade the Gethenwood in an attempt to stem out a so called religious rebellion by the pagan natives of the region after their attempts to get a church into the region failed. Ever since their failed attempts of gaining power over the region the church has always labeled it a potential threat to the church..
Gossip H. Some say the reason every caravan is escorted by the regions own military. Is so that they don't go off track and die....but others say to keep the caravans from not being slaughtered on the road......but members of clergy say its to sacrifice some of the people in the caravan to the Old Gods of the Gethenwood.

Some say the reason the Capital of Gethenwood remains somewhere off the road is for the protection of the Morrwood clan as well as their people...from their leaders who are said to be godless monsters who sacrifice their own people to the Old Gods.
Their are rumors of camps they send the unwanted to be soldiers in their army located deep in the forest, speculation of dropping population is often paired with this.

Name: Princess Evelyn (Evey) Fairway
Title: Crowned Princess of Vanqland, Heir to the throne
Age: 21

Gender: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Relationship Status: Single, seeking marriage

Species: Unknown

Appearance:
Lily-Collins-2013-Pictures-HD-Wallpaper-1280x800.jpg

Height: 5'4
Weight: 130 lbs
Clothing: 1 2 3
Distinguishing Features: The princess has no distinguishing marks other than that she is literally without mark. Not a scar, not a mole or freckle, not so much as a callus on her sewing hand. Her pale skin is usually considered her most desirable feature.

Holdings: Her father's house of Fairway holds the Red Hills which will be given to her younger sister Lillith to have rule over. As the heir to the throne, Evelyn will inherit rule of the Kingdom and will hopefully be able to consider the lands of her future husband hers as well.
House Emblem: Two rearing black pegasues
Notable relations: King Maximus Fairway- Father- King of Vanqland
Lady Penny Fairway- Grandmother- Lady of the Red Hills
Princess Lilith Monroe Fairway- Younger Sister
Illia Von Bachland- Friend
Military Might: At the moment, Evelyn has only a small group of men under her direct control. The sons and remaining members of her mother's dowry, given to her father at their marriage, are now hers to command. They are a small group of Prussian men number perhaps 200. While a small group they are known to be highly trained and very lethal. They are solely loyal to the Princesses and their father and call themselves The Falcons. Evelyn is obviously protected by the Kingsguard, her father's armies, and the armies of the Red Hills.
Loyalties: Evelyn is chiefly loyal to her own interests which obviously binds her to her father's rule.

Bio:
The first born of Maximus Fairway, Evelyn has grown up with an understanding that she will one day be Queen. Her mother died when she was only a toddler following Lilith's birth which left Evelyn mostly in the care of tutors, teachers, governesses and something her paternal grandmother, Penny Fairway. Like any first born or heir, she was chiefly taught to rule. She learned histories and politics and all the noble houses of Vanqland. She studied European demography and geography and all the states of the various countries around her homeland. She learned to speak French and German and visited many countries as a child to learn different styles of dance and literature and anything else a cultured little princess would need to learn. Through out her father's reign, Evelyn has been at his elbow, watching his mistakes and learning his victories. Her relationship with her father is thus very close and as a girl she both dreaded her father's riding to battle and swelled with pride as his victorious return.

Her relationship with her sister is less than pleasant. Though Evelyn loves her sister dearly, she resents the younger girl's carefree attitude, loathing the shameful way she behaves. While Evelyn was studying it seemed Lilith was playing with the peasants or sneaking through the woods. It burned her to some degree, especially seeing the stress Lilith's behavior often caused their father. She loathes being around the other princess and often makes her feelings very clear when they must spend any length of time together.

Despite her attitude towards Lilith, Evelyn is otherwise graceful and charming. She carries herself like a future queen and respects her responsibilities. She's sharp tongued when she feels the need to defend her father or herself and has little qualm with whipping an opponent with lashing words. She's not overtly flirtatious but understands how to speak of men of power, a talent she hopes will win her a fine husband. Her greatest flaws lie in her temper when things go wrong or she feels she's failed. She's liable to screaming and fits much like her father and has been known to lay hands on her younger sister or servants who have failed too many times.

As the summer court draws near, Evelyn looks forward to having an array of noblemen to choose from. Strategically, she'd like to marry a man of great influence but she understands that some men would not like to rule alongside a woman rather than over her. As rumors of her father's pagan worship become more heated, she can only smile and dance around the topic, refusing to input what exactly she thinks of it…

Religious Views: Evelyn is well aware of where her father stands but has yet to declare herself loyal to any one religion or belief system.

Combat abilities: She's handy enough with a dagger but certainly wouldn't be a threat to a trained soldier or anyone much larger than her. She has, however, studied herbs and botany since her childhood and has a working knowledge of healing and poisons.
Skills: Riding, sewing, singing, dancing, maneuvering court, healing, has a working knowledge of politics, military strategy, history, and other subjects connected to her future rule

Distinguishing Features: Often told he looks impish.

Holdings: Not of a Noble House
House Emblem: N/A
Notable relations: N/A
Military Might: N/A
Loyalties: His only loyalty is to the Pack, whoever Bjarke tells him to follow he will do so without question.

Bio: First hunting rabbits in his home, a village not far from Clad's Keep. He grew to be somewhat a spectacle in town, soon he began shooting for gold. Participating in small competitions against archers in the surrounding villages, eventually word traveled to Clad's Keep. Lord Bjor called upon the boy to come to his keep and show him what the fuss was all about. After the boy did some showy target shooting Bjarke saw fit to endanger his life and took four apples in his hands and stood 50 paces from the boy. He ordered him to shoot the arrows as they were placed. He held one on each hand and then one on top of his head and one between his legs near his loins. He shouted go and stood stock still as the boy quickly fired, drew and fired four times until every apple had an arrow inside of it. Afterwards Lord Bjor granted him a considerable amount of gold and a place in his armies. But Bjarke demanded that the boy be let into the Pack so that he could finally have a worthy archer in his company.
Religious Views: Pagan

Combat abilities: He is one of the fastest and most accurate bowmen to ever walk the Vanqlands. He can strike an arrow through a mans eye at 500 feet. He has little close quarters combat skill but is still proficient with his bow indoors. He can launch an arrow into the air and know the exact place and time it will strike. Also good on horseback.
Skills: An incredible archer, capable of firing from horse back. Minor in tracking.

Other: He is a bit of a man whore.

The Bear made it obvious that he was not Tilki's father but none the less treated the young Tilki as his own. It was the Bear who gave him his first pet fox. A small red fox, whom he named Tuli. As he grew older and his skills improved he began wearing fox masks in the field. Giving rise to his name as The Fox, so he began collecting more masks. Giving rise to a rumor of their being more than one Fox.
Being raised by the Pack Tilki sees them all as his family, and will call them by such titles. Bio: Born to a soldier, he learned to soldier on and follow orders. He got his reputation and name for claiming to have laid with a bear one night and then fought its mate in the morning, thats where he claims he got the skin from. Very few men challenge his whimsical stories because he has never been bested in combat. He served as a mercenary in the North for some years until he met Bjarke and the Pack in a tavern, Ÿrd was one of the first men to join Bjarke's pack. And through the years the two grew close, Ÿrd became one of Bjarke's closest friends and trusted adviser for combat and life itself. Once he happened across a young babe and brought him to Bjarke so that he could become a member, the boy later grew to be called the Fox.
Religious Views: Pagan.

Skills: He can eat a boar entirely by himself.

Houndmaster Garlen Mattowick
medieval_knight_strokes_hound_by_melesmeles_faber-d6wwm4m.jpg

Age: 32
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Straight
Relationship Status: Nope
Species: Human

Height: 6'2
Weight: 185 (Without Armor)

Clothing: He wears a plate harness fastened with a gambeson of mail underneath. He is commonely seen with his signature helmet; a bascinet with a houndskull klappivisor, which duly gives him his title "Houndmaster". Other than the plate he wears, he wears a tabard over a neatly kept linen jupon.

Distinguishing Features: None, other than a faded bite mark on his right arm

Holdings: He owns an esteemed hunting lodge and the neighboring forests around it especially for recreational purpose (parties, events, and of course, hunting.) His word also has large sway on a sizeable portion of nobles in the land, and they would very well join him in a military pursuit if such a time comes, though it is not clear if they follow by their own will, or by something else.

Weapons: On his personal self, he carries a gilded arming sword with a fish-tail pommel of great craftsmanship, and an equally great sumptuous scabbard to hold it. He always carries a leash to hold onto a hound, and an iron slingshot; a very uncommon weapon for a noble of his stature. The fact that the one he carries is a particularly worn and weathered. It is fitted with a horse hair band, and fed with lead or steel balls (or even pebbles if annoying someone is your intention). Unlike bows, the slingshot of his is used mostly for hunting, as it particularly caters to the elements of concealability, silence, and quick-firing compared to a bow. Of course, unlike a bow it has major drawbacks in terms of range, and stopping power. However, it still be a quite a threat if used in the right place, at the right time, and by the right person.

Other than that, he has a small dagger strapped to his belt if worse comes to worse.

House Emblem: Not originally being of noble birth he did not have one. Though he later created his own following a simple design of his work and passion. The design tends to vary in color and border, but the main characteristics stay true.
160px-Complete_Guide_to_Heraldry_Fig370.png

Military Might: Other than the potential use of his hounds and houndkeepers to be deployed in military pursuits, he himself offers little benefit to a king's army.

Loyalties: Garlen holds steadfast loyalty in his God and King, however, doubt can be casted on him as there are rumors of him being a powermonger. He also has a rather strong distaste for wizardry and mages, especially filthy pagan scum.

Religious Views: He is a strict catholic, interpreting good faith in the form of ascetism, and he is oft to spread this to others around him.

Combat abilities: He himself is capable of holding his own in combat, being relatively athletic and strong for a man of his age, though he does not have any particular abilities or skills that make him stand out in combat in a simple duel.

He shines best when tracking, and hunting down foes with the aid of his hounds and their improved sense of smell and vision whos uses extend beyond game hunting and safeguarding home. Even without his hounds, he has honed his own sense of observation for little detail and ability to track, detect, and be thoroughly vigilant to oncoming threats, though of course he cannot nor will he ever surpass those of his animal companions. Some nobles speculate their great use in hunting down their political enemies or spies, and many have offered to pay for these services, though it is not clear on whether he is interested in doing such a thing or not.

His hounds look akin to a tall and muscular mastiff, a very reknowned hunting dog breed, his breed however, is considered apex by his peers in terms of sight and sense

Skills: He is a very capable woodsman, able to maneuver the forest and wilds very well. He has a little knowledge of woodworking (Only as much as one would get from doing it in their free time) And he is a rather influential person, especially in terms of politics and mingling with other nobles, which has earned him a well kept eye from the king. Throughout the years he has gained a very strong knowledge of the tactical, especially with coordinating his hounds, and even men. Other than that, he is also a very avid painter.

Other: Rumor has it that he himself has gained enough influence to challenge the King's, and that he seeks to overthrow him. Though this is only mere speculation by common peasantry who absolutely know nothing about this at all whatsoever, and have quickly changed their minds completely by their own will. They were so wrong in fact, that some have accidentally broken their legs in shock of how wrong they were.

BIO:

Ever since he was a boy he has remembered that familiar feeling. The scent of pine in the air, the sound of leaves crunching satisfyingly beneath his leather soles. He looked at the tall dried grass sway amongst itself, bristling at his knees ever so gently. Above, the clouds slightly parted, allowing a single ray of sun to escape from their countenance. Behind him he heard another set of footsteps catch up to him in a relaxed pace, he quickly deduced its origin from the gentle, but firm thuds of its footsteps.

"Don't get too comfy yet, son." His father spoke in a placid manner "The forest's bounty is ripe with stag and wolf, it shall be ours to claim depending on your wit." He tapped his finger on his temple to exemplify.

The boy looked down at his hands, and noticed a polished slingshot in one hand, and a handful of lead balls in the other, where they always there? It felt less like an object to hold and use, but rather part of him; an extension of his own self. He tried to remember the origin of these objects, he recalled snippets of a celebration and a gift from his father only yesterday. Today they were going to test it out. The memory seemed so vague and distant, yet so close.

There, they plunged into the forests, for what seemed like days, exploring every rock, and every crevice as well finding and hunting game. He would do this weekly with his father, and each one was a memory he would not forget. Every time they returned, the sweet aromas of baking pies and cakes from a fine, wood stove would entice them, the work of his mother no doubt, who's cooking was known well in their community. He knew to return quickly as her sister tended to eat ravenously, and there would be little left for he and his father lest they were too slow. His younger sister's name was Josephine, a bright girl with a tendency to be overly ecstatic

One day, while returning from a successful hunt with his father, they stumbled upon a wild dog stricken with hunger. The boy raised his slingshot, and notched a steel ball into the horse hair band of his prongs, but a gentle hand on his shoulder stopped him.

"There is no pride in hunting those who are stricken with weakness."

His father had said, a phrase which he remembered vividly. He took out a cut of meat from his sack and placed it in the palm of the boy's hand, and tentatively did the dog partake in it. After that was done, they headed home, but the dog had followed, not wanting to rid of it, boy adopted it and named it Brandric instead, and they would eventually become deeply bonded friends, for only a fleeting time, it was that bond however, that allowed him to truly understand the synergy of man and beast.

As time passed, the boy and his sister grew stronger, older, and more distant from home, but he would never forget to return every now and then, unlike his sister, who had became more reserved and quiet to the point of silence over the years to her young adulthood, and suddenly vanishing with his animal companion. He would not see them again.

Garlen eventually moved to the city, where he worked as a stable-boy for a wealthy baron in a hunting lodge. He lived in one of the animal stalls, cleaning and caring to them. Over the months, the boy began to learn much from his time there, especially how to act as a noble from the Baron, who had grown very fond of him. He became a man eventually and started working side by side with him as a hunting aide. His esteem began to grow from his successes and vast collection of hunting trophies. The Baron later passed away from unknown causes. With no heir, Garlen inherited the estate and such, the influence with all his associates as well.

"I myself don't quite understand Mattowick's hate for the Arcane, he's never known a mage in his youth, beside knowledge from bedtime stories and books, even still when he was a boy he would say 'I don't like those people.." - (Garlen's Father, Oswen Mattowick)

"Garlen cares for his hounds deeply, they are a breed like no other, they surpass in vision some of the best sighthounds, and are equally capable in catching smells as some of the best scenthounds. Why, a few gentlemen from some foreign eastern land with heavy accents came to purchase some to create their own line of hunting dogs, Garlen refused, which had pissed one of them off good. He made a comment saying that any magic infusion could easily do the same work as his. Let us just say that his hounds ate well that day." -A Houndkeeper's Journal in Garlen's Estate

"Ah wunce saw heem pluck three geese outta tha sky with two lead balls with that ol' slingshot, The next day, he hit an ol' grocer dead on in the back of tha head with a pebble, not sure if he meant ta do either." - A Peasant (On Garlen Mattowick)

The Countess is known for her somewhat unnatural golden skin and long, heavy golden locks. Even in the depths of winter and living in the rainy East, she maintains her skin color all through the year. She also bears a scar on the inner side of her right breast that by no means detracts from her chest as a whole.

Holdings:
The Anselms have traditionally held most of the Eastern region of Vanqland sandwiched between the northern Mountains and the lush Southern woods. The area is known simply as the Eastern Reaches. Climate wise, it is shielded from the cold North wind by the mountains but lacks the lushness of the South giving it a rather mild climate with warm summers and cool winters. The area produces a decent amount of crops but is known especially for its vineyards. It does make some use of the near by mountains by mining iron and a bit of copper but it ultimately dependent on timber from other regions as is too warm for pines and too cool for many of the oaks and such. There are several large forts and castles on the eastern border but many of them are only used for military purposes. Sheep are a huge export which provides fine wool to the surrounding regions. Closer in land, lies the famed Anselm estate aptly named "Goldherren" or Gold Manor. With gardens and fine, high walls with rather strategic access to one of Vanqland's rivers "The Red Finger" as its called for the slight red hue of the water. The Goldherren in particular is famous for breeding peacocks, producing some of the finest golden apples in the area, housing silk worms from the east that produce silk of unparalleled quality, and for having once been leveled by dragon fire (supposedly). There are other nobles from this region but they are minor at best compared to the Anselms who dominate the area via military might and open trade with The Red Hills, providing wool to the North, and by strategic marriages over the years.

House Emblem:
Two white and red dragons framed by a winged helm.

Notable relations:
Millicent can claim kinship to almost every noble in the East. She also has a brother who is currently in touring Russia.
Father: Ragnorak Anselm- "The Dragon"- deceased
Mother: A woman of no note who was not married to the King- believed to be deceased
Brother: Valience Anselm- 26- touring Russia
Husband: A german nobleman named Hans Vellbourn- deceased

Military Might:
The Anselms have traditionally been the guardians of the Eastern border. They've fought plenty of wars and were one of the only standing forces under the old King of any worth. They can call together a standing army noting around 7000 highly trained men who are known for being heavy knights, sometimes mounted on Summer House stallions.

Loyalties:
Itself, primarily, but the crown is typically beneficial to follow. It also has traditionally had good relations with the North though not enough to interbreed much.

Bio:
Millicent was called 'The Golden Dragoness' upon her birth. Her father was the famed "Dragon of The East", know far and wide for defending the eastern borders while the former king wasted his life. The man was deep into his fifties when he sired his children on a succubus who had taken up residence in the home of another noble man. Upon seeing her, Ragnorak simply claimed her for himself. The noble protested and was promptly beheaded. His son was beautiful boy born several years before his sister but the two quickly became thick as thieves. Ragnorak did not protest when the succubus took her leave, content now with his beautiful children. His wife had died years before without providing an heir, so no one protested to the children being named legitimate despite being born out of wedlock.

Millicent lived a happy life until her fifteenth birthday, when her beauty became too much to bear for her father's adviser. The man nearly raped her before being run through by her brother. Astonished, Ragnorak set about quickly finding a husband for the girl, thinking that would protect her better than her own family. A young German lord was brought in and two married despite Millicent and Valience's protests. For the next four years, her husband would prove himself abusive and cruel, not to mention sexually uninterested in the beautiful young woman. Millicent seduced one of the man's knights when she could no longer bare it, and convinced the man to kill his master for her. With his death, she was free to return home much to the knight's despair. Luckily he was executed and could not chase after her.

She returned home a woman and set about taking up the womanly duties of Goldherren until her brother found a wife, which he has yet to do. She is mildly interested in remarrying, but only so. She spends her days peacefully, raising her peacocks and sewing beautiful silken things to present as gifts to those who please her. She has little opinion on the King's pagan ways but supposes she would stand with whatever her brother chose to do in terms of rebelling against him, which she doubts he would.

Religious Views:
Catholic though they have orthodox influences from being somewhat close to Russia.

Combat abilities:
Millicent actually has had some combat experience as she was raised much like her brother was by their father. She's decent enough with a short blade to defend herself though she wouldn't fair well in an extended battle or against multiple opponents.

Skills:
Riding, embroidery, needlepoint, spinning silk, raising peacocks and other birds, cooking, playing the harp, writing poetry and fiction (under a false name of course), speaks German and Russian, diplomacy, strategy, and has enough basic military knowledge and education to defend Goldherren

Other: (Anything that isn't included above)
