Full Moon

The she-wolf couldn't help but smile as Andrew nuzzled her head. Taking a deep breath, she stepped away. "All right... I'm going to head upstairs and try to plan what I'm going to do next." With a nod, the young woman disappeared up into her room. She took out a small notepad that came with many hotel rooms and started to write down her thoughts with a pen she had found in the room, hoping to figure out where she could work so she could support herself more while she finished her last year of schooling. After all, she would have tons of expenses on top of the student debt to deal with.

As Layla ran upstairs, a new wolf walked into the hotel. He was a regular, a fellow lone wolf like Andrew. The man paused as he smelt the mixture of Layla's scent and Andrews. "Yo, Andrew, did you get yourself a girlfriend?" The man, Mark, asked. He examined Andrew's neck for a bite mark of some kind, some definite proof that he was truly in a relationship that included the mingling of scents. After picking up a particularly strong scent, Mark looked at Andrew with shock. "Did you get a girl knocked up?!" He whispered harshly, searching the man for answers.

Andrew would have wanted to laugh at the statement, joke around with Mark like he usually did, but he couldn't do that now. "No, the she-wolf was raped. I'm protecting her." He said, not intending to have the protective growl in his voice that he did. He just didn't want Mark going near Layla. He knew Mark would try hitting on her and he wouldn't allow that. Layla only wanted a friend, she didn't want a relationship for good reason. "Would you like your normal room?" Andrew asked with a smirk, knowing his friend.

Mark blinked as Andrew very bluntly responded to his questions. Oh. Oh that was not good. "Oh... I didn't know you were so chivalrous." Mark finally sputtered out. He knew Andrew's smirk a mile away and sighed. "Yes, thank you. Got to hide from an ex-girlfriend for a little while." The man took the key from Andrew and handed him the cash. "Hey, do think I could help with this she-wolf? I mean, I know I have a bad track record but it would be better to have more than just you protecting her, right?" The man treaded carefully. He had heard the protective growl and smelt the faint hint of possessiveness Andrew seemed to be radiating. Even if this girl had been through some tough times, Andrew seemed to want her as his own. Mark could respect that, but the fact that such a despicable thing happened to someone made his own wolf want to tear someone apart. "Sides, full moon is coming up. She's going to have a hard time keeping some of the other male wolves away with the smell she's putting off."

Andrew paused a moment. His wolf was telling him no, wanting him to hit Mark for even suggested coming close to his Layla. But Andrew wasn't an idiot. He knew during the full moon, Layla scent was going to be a lot more powerful than it was now. She wouldn't be able to his her pup long. "She should decide that. I don't know how she will react to you wanting to help. And for the full moon, if you are allowed to help, it might be best if neither of us actually enter her room." He said. He would tell Layla about Mark later and introduce them. But if Mark made one wrong move, he was never coming near the she-wolf again.

"Understandable. Well thanks for the room, again." Mark smiled and nodded to Andrew as he started to head up to leave. Just as he was about to head back up, Layla came back down, looking determined. Her formally straight back immediately sagged when she saw and smelt the new wolf, moving to wrap her arms around her middle. Mark noticed how Layla was acting and quickly moved to make himself look as nonthreatening as possible. "Oh welcome, little lady." He smirked and bowed, trying to bring up a different atmosphere.

"H-hello..." Layla responded, keeping a fair distance from Mark before turning to Andrew. "Andrew... Thank you so much for helping me but... But I need to ask you something." She hesitated before continuing quickly. "I want to work here. I-I mean, just until I find my own job and own place. I-I'm still in school and all of my things are at my old apartment, including my books, but I can't just go back... If I go back then-then..." She shook her head, curling her arms further around her stomach. "I just need to save up money for some books so I won't be completely out of it when I go back to school... I also need to hope to God my pack doesn't find me when I go back..."

Andrew was a bit surprised by her determination in asking for a job. He couldn't have her work for him, it would just feel wrong. However, as she explained why she needed the money he had to stop and think. If she was going to go through school, she was going to need money. If it was to help her live her life, not just to pay him back, than maybe it would be okay to heir her. "Hey, Mark, you said you wanted to help." Andrew said, knowing his friend. "Think you can break into an apartment without leaving your scent behind?" He asked. Since Layla was pregnant, she wouldn't be able to work too hard, or for that long. She had to take care of her child. And if Mark could get her her clothes and books, she wouldn't need to work as hard.

Layla blinked as Andrew didn't answer her question but rather turned to the other wolf in the room. Mark smirked and struck a cocky pose. "Oh, don't you have faith in me Andrew? You should know I'm amazing at doing so since I helped you all those years ago when you left your pack." He smirked before nodding. "Yeah, I can get her stuff. I'll try to limit the trips, but I'll get everything you need, all right? I'm going to go set my things in my room then I'll head out to get your things, little lady." He winked at Layla before leaving. Layla watched Mark carefully before turning back to Andrew, her eyes full of nervousness and gratefulness.

"I-I'm afraid a lot of my clothes won't fit me right... I'll have to get new ones sooner or later... B-but will you let me work here? Again, it's just until I can find my own job and place..." She ran a hand up her arm, looking up at Andrew threw her bangs.

Andrew smiled and shook his head with a laugh at Mark's statements. It really was thanks to Mark that he had his stuff without going back to his pack to get them. Layla would get her stuff. He looked down at her while she asked her questions again. He gently placed a hand on her forearm. "Cross a place to live off that list. You can stay here, and if you work here it would be best to live here too. A hotel could be a home if you allow it to be." He said with a smile. He wanted to make it as easy as possible for Layla to live. Also if she lived here, Andrew would be able to see her daily. He was being a bit selfish in that aspect as well. If she was dead set on working, he would like her working here, so he knew she was okay with the job and the tasks. And if she lived here, he wouldn't so much about her being on her own. He still wanted her, but he knew that it wasn't going to happen, so this was the best that he could do.

Layla felt her jaw drop as Andrew offered to let her live in the hotel. "R-really? You'd let me live here?" She practically whispered as she watched Andrew. Her eyes watered as she almost jumped into the man's arms. "Thank you! Thank you so, so much!" She hiccupped as she held the wolf tightly. After a few minutes of holding the wolf, she let go and stepped back. "Would you please let me make dinner tonight? I mean, I know you said you didn't want me to do anything to repay you, but I'd like to at least make a meal we could maybe share together and learn more about each other? Become closer friends?" She looked up at Andrew with a small smile as she fidgeted.

Andrew was a bit in shock when she jumped him and held him in a tight hug. He didn't understand why she thought he wouldn't allow her to stay there. He had already given her the room for free, and shooed her alpha and the bastard away so she could live her peacefully. There was no reason for him to send her away. When she finally stepped back and offered to cook for him, he smiled down at her. "Of course. And you're not repaying me. We are just two friends hanging out." He said. He wouldn't let his wolf put images into his mind of doing more than just eating and talking. He was glad they could be friend, close friends. He wanted to be one of her closest friends, just so he could stay beside her in any way that he could.

Layla smiled as Andrew accepted her offer. "Great! Oh, um, is there a grocery store near here? I need to go grab some ingredients for the food." She rubbed her arm as a blush started to dust her face. "A-and I need to pick up s-some medicine... Like vitamins. I promise I'll be right back, since I don't want to make you leave your job..." The she-wolf ignored the way her own wolf was howling to ask Andrew to come with her, to protect her until she could feel safe walking out on her own again. However, that would also inconvenience Andrew which would just make Layla feel bad. So she would go by herself and keep to herself.

Andrew was a little uneasy about letting Layla leave the hotel. He didn't know where that alpha and bastard were. They could still be in the area from this morning. He didn't want to have Layla go out by herself, but he really couldn't leave the hotel unattended. He really should heir some other people. "There is a grocery store close by, but would you be against Mark going with you? I don't want to send you out by yourself." He asked. If she didn't accept that offer he would ask Mark to watch for him and he would go with her. Mark had watched him enough to know what he was doing, it would be okay for a little while.

Layla knew what Andrew was trying to do, and nodded in agreement. "All right. I'll go get him then I'm going to get started cooking. It takes a while to make it right." She smiled before moving to go find Mark. The woman left with Mark, who nodded to Andrew. The she-wolf had a hoodie on, hiding her face with the hood as she and Mark left for the grocery store. They didn't come back until two hours later, where Mark escorted Layla into the hotel before leaving. Layla smiled at Andrew before leaving to go to through the door labeled kitchen. She put some of the groceries she had bought in the fridge until she could put them in her room and started cooking. A myriad of smells started to fill the room as Layla cooked most of the day. A strong smell of roast beef filled the room as Layla finished up her cooking. After setting everything out and setting up the small table in the kitchen, Layla went back to the lobby to get Andrew. "All right, it's ready!" She lead Andrew in to see a large roast beef surrounded by carrots and potatoes. Green peas sat in a smaller bowl as Two glasses full of grape juice sat next to plates. A few rolls sat on a separate plate. Layla smiled and played with her hands sheepishly. "I-I'm not the best cook, but I know how to make a pretty good roast." She smiled, waiting for Andrew to sit down.

Andrew was hungry when Layla came calling for him. He could just make out the smells of dinner and he couldn't wait It smelt so good. When he saw how she had presented it, he couldn't help but smile. His mouth was watering as he stared down at all she had made. His wolf felt a bit more pleasure saying she had done everything for him. The wolf was just adding more and more reason to the list of wanting Layla for his mate. Andrew tried his best to keep his wolf in check. "I am sure the food will be delicious." He said as he sat down. "Thank you for the meal." He said with a wide smiled before taking a bite.

Layla smiled as she sat down with Andrew. "You're welcome." She could feel her stomach growl as she quickly started to pile her own food on her plate. The she-wolf started to eat right away, feeling far hungrier than she had expected. She blushed as she realized she was eating like she had never even tasted food before and tried to slow down. The brunette looked over at Andrew to see what he thought of her little meal. She was simply glad the smells weren't throwing her off and into the bathroom. "How's the food?" She asked as she finished off another bite of food, having eaten through a fourth of the plate despite slowing her eating down. After a while, Layla looked down at her lap and fidgeted. She really did need to tell Andrew her secret. He was helping her so much, and it felt wrong to just keep something so important from someone who was willing to get to know her more and help her. "U-Um, Andrew? I need to tell you something." She could feel fear start to course through her. What if he rejected her? What if after she told him, she was forced out of the hotel? The thoughts brought tears to her eyes.

Even though Andrew wished to eat as much as he could, he kept his manners about him. But he laughed a bit when he saw Layla eating fast. She was eatting for two. "The food is delicious." He said, and it was. He wished he could eat her cooking every night but that was asking too much. If they did have mess every night together, they would take turns cooking. Andrew could follow a recipe well, and he had a few dishes of his own that were fine as well. However when Layla said she needed to tell him something, he got a little worried. What did she need to tell him? She seemed scared and he wanted to go over and hold her, make things okay. "Wh... What is it? You can tell me anything." He said, hopeing to reassure her that everything would be okay.

Layla took a deep breath before beginning her explanation. "I-I wanted to tell you that... That..." She gulped. "I-I'm pregnant. That's wh-why I ran away from my pack. M-my alpha wanted me to a-abort my child be-because the father already has a mate, a-and I couldn't ruin the pack like that! B-but I didn't want to get rid of her, even though I don't want to break up the pack like that, so... so..." She sniffled as she finally admitted her little secret. The she-wolf didn't know that Andrew had already figured out she was pregnant. She simply wanted to get that out so some of the things she did wouldn't confuse the other wolf as she continued to hide from her pack.

Andrew stared at her for a few second before sighing lightly. He stood up and walked around to her, kneeling before her and holding her hands in his. "Layla, I already figured that out. I figured out you were pregnant this morning. Whenever you started to get scared, you wrapped your arms around your stomach, protecting your child. And your scent gives it off to. I didn't know that from the beginning since I have never had a pregnant wolf come into the hotel." He said, with a smile. He wanted her to know that the fact that she was pregnant was not going to stop him from protecting her. As he started to think about Lawrence he started to get mad, and protective. "And the bastard that did this to you, does NOT have a mate. If he had a mate of his own, he wouldn't have done this to you. He would also have a mark on crock of his neck to show that he was mated. I saw him today and he had no mark. Whatever lies they told you, don't believe them. That bastard will not come near you again, I won't allow it. I won't let him hurt you or your child." He said, bringing her hands up and lightly kissing the back of them. "I will protect you. Mark wants to help to. We will make sure you will be happy, and safe."

Layla blinked as Andrew explained how he already knew. A blush spread across her face as Andrew kissed the back of her hands. "Th-thank you... Thank you so much." She smiled and wiped away the tears that threatened to burst. "Let's continue eating, huh?" She smiled before going back to the food, enjoying the meat and food gladly. The she-wolf paused in her eating to look over at Andrew. "So, do you have anything you like to do when you aren't busy with the hotel?" She tilted her head, her eyes curious. Layla wanted to know more about this man who was willing to protect her and her child. She took another bit of her meal, relishing the rich flavors as she awaited Andrew's answer. Maybe she could become friends with this fellow wolf. A friend sounded nice. She didn't really have many friends, her fellow students at her college being the only people she truly interacted with outside of her old pack. If she could become friends with this fellow wolf, then maybe she could have someone to truly depend on.

Andrew nodded before going back to his seat to eat. He was glad that Layla trusted him enough to tell her she was pregnant. She never had to tell him that information, even if he already figured it out and it would eventually show. But she had told him because she wanted him to know. He was her friend, even if his wolf wanted more, but he would settle with friend. He just wished she didn't pick anyone else to be her mate. He didn't know if he would be able to handle that. But she didn't want a mate so he felt content for now.

"Well, I usually read when I'm not working. I like the mystery genre. I like reading about the bad guys getting just what they deserve." He smiled lightly. But inside he was thinking about the bastard that had hurt Layla. He would get what he deserved, eventually. If there was any justice in the world, then he would.
