All cities have a dark side. A night life full of secrets, blood, and fear. Chicago is no different. Of course, what many don't realize, is that hidden beneath that aspect of society is an even darker underbelly, teeming with the mysteries that many wrote off early in their childhood. Within the city, there are many groups of individuals belonging to a hidden subgroup of the population, entities resembling humans, but more grisly and monstrous. Among these groups, there are several families of vampire, clans of a variety of creatures descended from the vampires of legend. These vampires are mostly aristocratic, with some groups operating more as monsters hidden beneath the streets and some simply as hermits trying to live with what they see as an affliction. Within the underworld of Chicago exists two primary families of the vampire lineage, the Drake family, and the Leone family. Both are well known, and neither like sharing the city with one another, much less the other various groups throughout the city. Like with all major feuds, there tends to be a great deal of collateral damage, bleeding into the human society as well, thanks in no small part to the political intrigue involved with keeping the humans in check.

Recently, the feud has grown worse, with the Leon family making noticeable advances on Drake territory, and the Drake family working tirelessly to control the city through its political landscape. What's more, something is drawing other supernatural entities to the city like a beacon, and no one knows why or what it is. Something is coming, and neither family is willing to set aside their differences to thwart it. What's more, the Leone family has begun taking more risks in regards to maintaining the Masquerade, the illusion that vampires and others like them do not in fact exist. Keeping the supernatural out of view of everyday people is a challenge that most vampires are more than willing to accept, but some believe that the Masquerade isn't the answer. Thus, the conflict only escalates.

As more people and creatures are drawn to the city, the situation only worsens, as the air thickens with tension and more unexplained events are beginning to occur. All within the city know something is coming, and no one knows what. The Drake and Leone families, while largely ignoring it, have begrudgingly sought the help of other species, particularly human hunters and mages in hopes of uncovering whatever potential catastrophe is on the horizon.

Velora Gatton
Name: Velora Gatton

Age: 22

Gender: Female

Species: Human/Hunter

Weight: 130 lbs

Height: 5'6

Personality:

A relatively kind girl with a dark and sadistic side to her, Velora enjoys the thrills that being a hunter provides. Risking her life with each monster is simply part of the fun, and the bloody massacre when they get fed to her purse is a lovely bonus. Having grown up as a pampered doll in a stuffy snob house, Velora hates being restrained and has developed a charismatic persona to be more approachable since she "wasn't ladylike." She adjusted her own public behavior and dress to resemble more of a cutesy, unknowing girl to give her prey the illusion that they would have complete control over her psychologically and physically. Velora believes playing the bait is far more exciting than sneak attacking or boring "tactical" plans. She has already accepted that she will one day die because of her recklessness, but what's the point of being alive if you don't make the most of it?

~ True Crime genre

Dislikes:

~ Narcissistic people
~ Prim and proper
~ Jules's personality

Fears:

~ Being underwater
~ Pitch darkness

Skills:

~ Hand to hand combat
~ Psychological Manipulation
~ Tracking
~ Fast Learner

Abilities:

Jules - Cursed handbag:

~Velora's purse, given the name Jules, is a sentient cursed item that can hold as many items as its owner gives it. No metal detectors can sense anything hidden within the bag, and in order for Velora to take out whatever she needs, all she has to do is reach inside and tell the purse what she wants.

~The purse, while a bottomless pit for items, has the ability to talk, hear, and see what its owner senses. Since it is bound to Velora by a curse Jules is also able to mimic Velora's voice, meaning there will be a lot of misunderstandings if the purse decides to be a shithead.

~Jules is also capable of eating, and it is carnivorous. Velora can feed the purse her prey and Jules will devour everything it is given. There is no limit to the amount that Jules can eat in one sitting so long as Velora feeds it before its flap shuts. However, the only person it will not eat is its marked owner. If someone else tries to carry or take the purse from Velora, Jules will panic and devour the person holding it, regardless if friend or foe.

~The purse is set to always return to its owner, no matter where it is. If Velora can get any part of her opponent's body into the purse, Jules will not let go unless the limb or piece is torn off.

Weakness:

~ Jules has a time limit before it can be used again after consuming meat of any kind. A full person consumption would take an hour before Velora can access her belongings. A steak would take about 10 minutes.

~ Jules will become useless if it cannot open.

~ Jules, depending on how far it is, will take time to sense Velora's location and go to her. It returning to her could take minutes, hours, days, or weeks depending on the location. That entire time Velora will not have access to the items it carries.

Backstory:

Velora is the youngest daughter of two children to a professional fashion model and a business owner. Due to a marriage destined to fail and her parents wanting to prove everyone wrong, she and her older brother were made to behave as the "perfect" family when they went to events. This meant behaving like the ideal daughter and adjusting her behavior to match whoever she was speaking to. Behind closed doors, the family was a mess. The parents would argue constantly and fight to the point that they'd swing fists at each other. Neither would call the police or say anything for fear that their reputation as the perfect family would be ruined. Velora enjoyed these moments of outbursts and violence because they were different. They changed the boring lifestyle she had to live, and so she kept an ear out, awaiting the arguments and fighting every day. Eventually, this developed further into a sadism she couldn't tap into until later on.

At 17, Velora grew fed up with the perfection facade and purposely pissed off and humiliated a woman at a snob party with no care for the consequences. Velora was over the moon to break the monotonous life and bring some excitement to a crappy rich party. The woman, in turn, hired an unknown person to curse Velora with Jules, the handbag, in the hopes that the purse (under the guise of a gift) would destroy her plans of a comfortable future by forcing her to completely shape her life around an annoying sentient handbag.

Velora, however, couldn't have been happier (at the time).

She paid hunters for training while she still had access to her credit card and learned how to use Jules as a weapon. Velora gradually grew to hate Jules's personality, since the purse liked to be such a shithead, but she couldn't deny that it was a glorious weapon when used right. So she stuck with it, and to this day, she keeps Jules right by her side.

Velora is currently not speaking to her parents after she tarnished the perfect family reputation they were adamant on keeping.

Name: Tania Sleiman

Age: 20's? (Believed to be at least 200 judging by mannerisms)
Gender: Female
Species: Mage
Weight: 118lbs Height: 5'3"

Personality: Not very proactive she prefers to walk her own path in life, free from others or at best as an observer, Tania is interested in acquiring knowledge and has been known to proactively seek answers or said knowledge when she must. Typically doing things by the book she still makes mistakes and can be described as a neutral sort. Not terribly well at interacting with others she possess a dark personality like that of a social recluse preferring to keeping to herself and not showing any signs of emotion to her expressions or manners. Curiously her home and person seems to be stuck in the fashions of Victorian England with hints of Egyptian flair showing here and there. She rarely gives straight answers and isn't one to be threatened or coerced easily. While she is warry of strangers she doesn't fear them so much as distrust them and keep her distance until future dealings. She is known to show hospitality to others however in the form of offering them tea or snacks during visits, well those she's on good terms with at least.

Abilities:

Dark Magic: Able to form attacks or move objects with the powers of shadow or darkness, typically illustrated by a glowing purple outline. This magic has some versatility but is not beyond that of a "typical" mage.

Keeper of Tomes: Has a vast intellect in regards to magical texts, if not for her poor health she could theoretically perform magic from all seven elemental types, as a result her library and memory are incredibly vast, at least in the fields of magic and information.

Seer of Osiris: At the price of her left eye Tania can predict events for others or read the history of objects, though in the case of the later it is far more useful as she rarely gives a straight answer and more of has a feeling for the generalities of a situation than a detailed view, much like any psychic.

Weakness: While she's capable of using advanced magic with great power, her poor health, asthma, and anemia limits her ability to use it. Overall she tends to avoid conflict and works mostly as an information dealer or in the capacity of a fortune teller to the rich or at least the powerful. Naturally weak to light magic.

In addition while a keeper of great knowledge or information, she is limited in what she can know based on information she receives, or put another way, if it's not in her archives then she does not know of it.

Backstory:

Tania is simply an information broker and repository of sorts for tremendous amounts of knowledge and by keeping a neutral standpoint has managed to survive into the modern era in the mundane world, though her location has changed throughout the ages. Much of her early history is unknown with only fragments pieced here and there, for one she was seemingly born during the Victorian era to a British Father and an Egyptian Mother, somewhere along the line she developed into a fully fledge Mage, losing her humanity in the process, while others aged and died she continued to live seemingly unchanged apart from losing her left eye and this is one subject she will never give an answer on. Moving from place to place when immortality seekers come to her door, she is rather suspicious of new customers but is fairly open with her information and knowledge, provided one can pay the price.

Expressing interest in playing a hunter. But one question before I submit a sheet. In all my RPs I always use my own face as my character image. Im an actor and have a variety of headshots that can portray a variety of character types. Is this alright with the GM or are you strictly sticking with anime face claims?

Name: Estera Dragan (Drake Family Retainer)
Age: Appears to be her 20's. Possibly upwards of 300 years old.
Gender: Female
Species: Vampire
Weight: 128lbs Height: 5'6"

Personality: Elegant and refined with a simmering hatred lurking beneath the surface, Estera often speaks in a formal manner around those who are socially her equal, in the presence of said equals or friends she will use the same formal manner of speech. Out of these presences however she can be highly informal and insulting even. Typically the source of her ire is hard to pin down and can be described as a teacher dealing with difficult students. Always clean in dress she wears a fashionable if not older style of clothing common to servants of the European mainland. With a sense of regality and pride her eyes are often cold when looking at "lesser" races. In general she hates the current state of the world and wants humanity to know things do go bump in the night.

She is however very civil and has a direct and upfront manner in dealing with her problems and duties, she has long served the Drake family though has had a spotty history leading to many mysteries surrounding her, rumors she never clarifies on. If one thing is noted she has a surprising love for flowers and herbal gardens, curiously enough she seems to not have the popular public perception of being repulsed by garlic. It has been said she has a surprisingly brutal and psychotic nature that can slip out at times, though her charismatic manner of being as the most "Elegant" of House Drake tends to counteract this.

Curiously she gives tithes to churches and carries an Eastern Orthodox Cross and tends to respect hollowed grounds and clergy, a likely holdover from her origins. At least so long as they don't try and exterminate her, while a superiority minded person, her age has allowed her to reach an "understanding" of sorts in regards to humans existing.

Dislikes:

Most people

Fears:

Deep sleeps
Abandonment

Skills:
Melee Blade Master
Gardener/Herbalist
Retainer knowledge
Firearms usage

Abilities:

True Blood Vampire: Has enhanced abilities in regards to most turned and "young" vampires, most importantly she can turn herself into a mist or summon said mist into hard weapons and armor, while not so much a storage field as a summoning, because of this she's capable of sudden movements and surviving fatal blows by fading into an incorporeal form. This is in line with more "historical" writings on vampires, she has even been seen manipulating her mist into the form of a bat swarm.

Levitation: The ability to use internal magical or elemental affinity to float or fly mid air, though at a slow speed, she claims it comes in hand for day to day chores.

Iron Guard of Wallachia: A suit of blue armor, made of a secret material it bares the symbol of Wallachia and the House of Tepes on some portions of it, if the armor belonged to her or a member of her family is up for debate. Either way the armor is highly resilient to damage even in the modern age, formed segmentally the armor can provide full body coverage short of at movement joins and interior facing panels on the arms.

1546028669649.png

Weakness:

Typical Vampiric weakness in most terms, there are a few that seem unable to harm her, such as being able to enter holy sites, though running water curiously still seems to stop her on geographical features.

Armor takes time to fully form when summoned and appears by section.

Flight is limited in terms of speed and altitude, while useful in person to person encounters or getting around in general, she cannot match the performance of most mechanized transportation.

Turning into mist or bats rather while able to preserve her in combat or to close distances rapidly is not instantaneous to recover from, more so if battle damaged and used for a retreat. Much like a classical Vampire once she's gone from a battle she tends to stay gone for awhile at least.

Backstory: Born to an aristocratic family that would become among the first Vampires during or even before the Age of Discovery when the crossroads of Armor and Firearms had reached the world, changing it forever during the 16th or 17th century. Even she is unsure of the year of this time, for during much of it Romania, or Wallachia it's self was a battle zone of numerous wars fought between the European powers, Russians and Ottomans. Romanian Militants and whoever was raiding the land at the time, Tartars, Bulgurs, her own kind. Either way life was hectic and much of the time she does not remember, other than the Flag of Wallachia and they fact her family directly served the house of Tepes, were among the first to be turned, True Vampires as many would term it.

During one of this fateful battles, the Lands of House Dragan would come under siege by one of the myriad sources that assaulted Wallachia during this period, all Estera can recall is that she was sleeping within her quarters during the assault, having been tired of manning a musket atop the wall. That was until the Castle collapsed upon it's self and she would find herself trapped within her coffin, slipping into a Torpor that would last dozens if not 100's of years, it was not until the Second World War that she would be awakened from the great amount of human souls being lost upon the land and that of the Drake Family plundering the lands that were now called Romania. Giving her blood and releasing her from the long Slumber she seemed to be the only survivor of house Dragan and in a land that was much unlike when she fell asleep, the True Blood decided to leave with this group, serving them and doing her duties to the best of her ability for fear of waking up to yet another changed world if she fell behind. Currently her position within the Family is a unique one, while technically an elder she has physically or genetically aged very little having spent most of her life "asleep". And while a loyal retainer with a better claim to the source than most of the family she is still not a member of said family, least not officially.

While she doesn't care much for the modern world and cares even less for the fact her people now bow to the humans and cannot enter holy grounds for the most, she has found the technologies, plants and firearms of the modern world to be fascinating. While she sees the humans as lesser beings, she does not wish for the Destruction of Humanity, however she is tired of having to hide in the darkness, when so much of her life was fully grasped by it.

She has a broad smile, though is more likely to offer a confident smirk than a full grin. Aliyah typically wears her long, often down to her lower back, and fashioned into a long single braid, or straight down. Her style of dress is usually casual, but, she does enjoy dressing up in fashionable designs and styles, and sometimes still wears a hijab when out and about. She is friendly and polite to most, and is often fairly transparent with her wants and needs. Aliyah is a socialite by nature, and despises being alone for a lengthy amount of time, though she does enjoy having time to herself now and then. Since leaving the hollywood spotlight, Aliyah has grown to enjoy her alone time a little more, and has developed a strong attachment to nature, spending a great deal of her time surrounding herself with animals and woodlands. Thanks to her condition, she can spend time with animals as comfortably as she could with humans, and in ways, has grown to prefer the company of other creatures to that of humanity, or even her own people.

Abilities:

Shapeshifting
Aliyah, as a werewolf, must shapeshift into her garou form during each full moon. However, she can assume any of her lupine forms at will whenever she chooses. This change can take a few moments, depending on which form she takes, and can inspire lunacy in mortals and some supernaturals alike. When changed, werewolves must combat the nature of the beast, lest they lose themselves to the primal urges of their inner monster. Assuming the different forms provide different benefits;

Human - Basic human form

Near Human - Reminiscent of the old wolf-man monster movie. The werewolf grows extra hair, developing minor lupine features, including sharpened and elongated teeth and claws, a heightened sense of hearing and smell, and enhanced speed, strength, and durability. While in this form, the werewolf will likely experienced heighten aggression.

WolfMan - The garou form. In this state, the werewolf assumes a beastly form of a bipedal werewolf. The werewolf grows larger, and substantially faster and stronger than the prior form. In this state, the werewolf is a mass of muscle, teeth and claws, and is a force of destruction. This form is the most difficult to control for werewolves, and some attempt to refrain from using it, as they may lose themselves to the beast temporarily.

Near Wolf - In this form, there werewolf assumes the traditional wolf form, though it more closely resembles a dire wolf, effectively a cross between the garou and the regular wolf. This form is essentially a massive wolf, and while not as strong as the garou form, it's speed and mobility is more substantial thanks to it's more lupine body structure and quadrupedal locomotion. This form is almost as difficult to control as the garou form, but is still manageable for those with strong wills.

Wolf - In this form, the werewolf is, in essence, a normal wolf. They still maintain their human intellect, and while they cannot speak, they can, with practice, learn how to communicate with other wolves and dogs in that form. This form isn't difficult to control, as it is basically just an alternate version of themselves.

Regenerative Abilities
Aliyah, like most, if not all, werewolves has an increased healing factor. This allows her to recover from minor wounds very quickly, and major wounds more swiftly than most others. This grants a great deal of stamina and endurance as well, but anything that would be immediately fatal to a human would almost assuredly kill her as well.

Weakness:

Severe Allergy to Silver
Magical Weapons
Most Powerful Forms are Difficult to Control
Fame (Easily Recognized in Some Locales)
Must Transform on the Full Moon
Transformations and Middle Transformed States can Cause Lunacy
Essentially Human When Not Transformed

Backstory:

Aliyah was born in Los Angeles, California, to a loving mother and father. Even as an infant, Aliyah had been in the spotlight, being the child of a Hollywood power couple. Her father was a high profile action movie star, Amir Arain, while her mother was a well known model whom had made her name on daytime soap operas. Being the child of such famous parents, she immediately took to stardom, engaging in modeling or acting roles from the age of three. She lived a fairly normal life, all things considered, until she reached the age of maturity. The first change was an experience she would never forget, changing into a literal monster would awaken not just her senses, but the thrill of a more free kind of life. Even though she was the star in a hit teen drama show, this revelation would push her down a different path. That being said, part of her adored the stardom, and putting on a show for the millions of people that tuned into the show that she had loved being a part of. All of the cast were her friends, and she knew that she would miss them too dearly if she just left without a word. So, for a couple more years, she continued working on the show, keeping her monstrous beast within a deathly secret.

Once her father sat with her and talked about what she was, it all became clear. She could continue this life, but she would have to find a way to maintain it while still living as a monster. Her father had somehow managed to do it, but it was obviously eating at him. Worse, he had to tell her of the times he failed to hide what he was, even to the point of having to cover up the tracks of times that he couldn't get away when he would have to change. Of course, Aliyah couldn't hold it too strongly against him. They were monsters, and she firmly believed he had always done everything he could to avoid hurting anyone. At least, that didn't deserve it. Once "Felicity Tells it Like it Is", the famous teen drama she starred in as the begrudging best friend, Samara, to the main character, Felicity, ended, she decided to move to a smaller town. She decided to become a veterinarian, to help animals as much as she could while getting more in touch with nature. This new home was fairly isolated, and allowed her to change much more freely, and even run around with other creatures of the wilderness.

As it turned out, some force that she couldn't understand had drawn her there, to the outskirts of the Chicago area. Something was happening there, and she had to see for herself what it was. Unfortunately, she had been living there for years before anything had even started to happen, and by then, she had already on multiple occasions, gone back to California briefly to spend time with her family or to engage in some fun film or television roles. Now that things have begun to stir, she had to cancel her appearance in an upcoming sequel to an action film that would have brought her into a whole new genre for her career. It seems, however, that it just isn't meant to be.

Name: Markus Mordecai

Age: 64 (Appears early-thirties)

Gender: Male

Species: Lycan (Werewolf)

Weight: 180 lbs

Height: 6'1"

Personality: A cynical and sarcastic individual that doesn’t fit the picture set for him as a remnant of the Hollow Fangs. Rather than earthly and giving, as one might expect him, Markus proves to be somewhat cold and stoic man, appearingly irritated with the obligation he holds and with his own kin. He honestly views other creatures and “immature”, namely for his experiences with their interference with his pack’s duties, though if called out he will admit he feels more harshly on his own kind, due to their seeming inability to unite or congregate without clashes, rivalry, or betrayal. He honestly seems to only continue in his work as he views it as necessary and doesn’t see anyone else getting to it.

Markus is also rather apathetic for a werewolf, masking his emotions extremely well. Gathering his true thoughts or intentions rather than a smart-assed remark is a task less resembling the pulling of teeth and more the moving of mountains, though whereas some others will hide their true beliefs for the purpose of manipulation, his thankfully doesn’t seem to be the case. While ultimately an unwilling caretaker, he is still such, and as such he isn’t likely to harm, and will even look out for, those weaker or younger than he, so long as they don’t earn his ire from less trivial actions than the unruly teenagers he deals with daily. One should still hold some degree of wariness, however, for Mordecai is still a Lycan; a creature that must constantly endure “the hunger”. While this one may hold a strong control over his feelings, should the floodgates open, there will be no negotiating, no bribing, and no pleading.

Abilities:
  • Shapeshifting: As a Werewolf, Markus is capable of shifting his form to one of various.
    • Human - Little different from a normal human. Some slight regenerative abilities and slightly sturdier physique. This is a normal, if very fit and healthy human body.
    • Near-human - Taller, bigger, harrier and stronger. Still somewhat human-like, the werewolf possesses enhanced physical abilities and regeneration, albeit also must bare heightened aggression.
    • Wolf-man - A mix between man and wolf, this form is significantly larger and bulkier, around eight to nine feet tall and far surpassing a human in terms of both weight and power. Abilities are further increased, as is blood lust, making this form the mark of a true monster
    • Near-wolf - A normal-looking wolf, if not peculiarly large and muscular, typically three to five feet tall at the shoulder. Mobility superior, but power lesser than the wolf-man.
    • Wolf - A normal wolf, incapable of speech but still possessing of the intellect of the man within. No blood lust to tolerate or endure.
  • Regeneration: An enhanced regenerative factor compared to humans. Minor wounds are healed quickly and more serious injuries take far less time as well.

Weakness:
  • Silver
  • Magic
  • Blood-lust of the wolf

  • Human form is little more than Human

Backstory: Born to one of the tribal clans, Markus’ early life surrounded the spiritual and earthly. Lycan life could be mercifully described as splintered, not sharing the united and more concentrated disposition of the blood-sucking counterparts, each choosing its own outlook. Some cared more for power and were predatory in nature, others, like Markus’ pack, centered themselves on duty to patrolling the realm of spirits and their interaction with the physical world, favoring control and order more. Mordecai was one of these supposed guardians, duty-bound to hunt and slay these creatures for the safety of their world. Unfortunately, while their goal seemingly noble, apparitions were hardly the worst of the tribe’s worries, nor were they the only creatures that required the baring of fangs.

Markus would note conflict with the spirits to be just as common as practically every other threat. Mortal Hunters sought them solely out of fear and ignorance. Kin and rival packs were a constant worry due to their unpredictable nature. Perhaps some did not care for conflict, others however strived for it and sought subjugation of other clans. Vampires, though admittedly the least troublesome, were still a bother due to their territorial restrictions, especially in urban areas.

As the tribe made large movements in its attempt to perform its duties, it also endured casualties. The clan, whose numbers were not large enough to pursue its lengthy ambition in the first place, could not feasibly replenish its hunters faster than they were lost. Eventually, the dwindling numbers of the pack known as the Hollow Fangs led it closer to extinction before a cannibalistic tribe viewed the weakness as an opening to attack, seemingly putting the final nail in the coffin for them. Those who refused to be subjugated or were viewed as too weak were eliminated. Most of the remaining pack fell that day, with a minority joining the attacking clan and an even smaller minority simply disappearing.

In actuality, there are still remnants of the Hollow Fangs who still pursue their duties, such as Markus. Those who vanished that day withdrew and began to perform their obligations solitarily where they could remain more inconspicuous.

Currently, Markus works as a teacher at a local high school in Chicago, teaching English, writting, and literature.

Vampire

WEIGHT

HEIGHT

PERSONALITY
A man filled with mysteries. One wouldn't exactly know what goes through his mind. He has a rather elegant attitude towards others. Calm, collected and an absolute observer. Darnic has a rather condescending view towards most species, but especially the humans, if anything. Other than that, he has a rather unique view of the world, and consider it to be a game. It may be fun for him, but not for others. Think of it like chess, where you would always be on the losing side.

Darnic is a cunning, manipulative man to the extreme. An idealistic, ambitous man with patience like none other, perhaps. He is basically in love with cruelty, savagery and all of the worst aspects in human and vampire nature without caring about witnessing or causing others suffering. Some may even consider him a sociopath, but is he though?

- Making him a rather unique creature of the dark, Darnic can manipulate his own blood, or to that of outside sources. Like blood bags, or blood splatters on the ground, wall and so on. It can be hardened, to be used in a rather offensive way, or to link himself with someone, or to track someone.

Shadow Manipulation - By manipulating dark energy, he can use shadow, or in other words, darkness to his advantage. He can become formless and traverse through it. Cloud an area with total darkness. Construct and manifest weapons, shields or minions of total darkness.

Hypnosis - Darnic has the capability to make suggestions to the subconscious of others. In other words, he can whisper something in your ear, or do it directly through eye contact. He can, over time, have you do something you don't neccessarily want to do, as the thought suggested by him could develop more thoughts or suggestions for you to do. But in the end, you would believe it is your own will behind such actions, your own mind.

WEAKNESSES
Manipulating his own blood for an extensive period will exhaust him.

Direct light in general has an affect on shadow manipulation, making it difficult for him to manifest the dark energy.

Most of the usual Vampire weaknesses, but not all.

Can't re-engage in combat immediately after disappearing into the shadow dimension, and traversing, showing up somewhere else on the battlefield.

HISTORY
Darnic Lahovary was part of a noble, aristocratic family. They were one of the first Vampires in history. Because of their immortality, they gained knowledge with time. Watching the humans grow and develop over the decades, the centuries. They were part of the Drake family at some point, but it all changed.

His family was serving the head of the Drake family. They shared the same ideals, goals and so on. But watching his own species bend to the rules of the humans over and over again was something he couldn't accept no more. Darnic considered his species to be superior than any other supernatural creature out there.

He couldn't stand by and watch no more. He decided to take matters into his own hand. He understood that his own family would never share the same vision as him. Because of that, he made sure his family was taken care of. Incapacitated, and off the chess board. However, that was later discovered by the Drake family, and because of that, hunters were sent to take care of Darnic for his crimes.

He did not have enough time back then, but thanks to the men and women loyal to his cause, he gained information before his enemies were at his doorsteps. He disappeared, and went into torpor. Telling those loyal to him to wake him up when the time was right to concoct and make sure his own plan would succeed.

Gone for quite some time, Darnic was eventually woken up from his slumber during the rise of the Leone family. He became a member of the Leone's, sharing their ideals to some point. This was perfect for him. Darnic was, and is also in contact with a rather hidden, unique, cult called the Ordo Dracul. If there is anyone out there who does share the same vision as him, it would be them.

Now, it was all about being patient, and moving the pieces around the chess board with time and strategy to make his own grand plan come to fruition.

Name: Father Jean Morley | (The Doctor)

Age: 28
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Weight: 6'0"
Height: 185lbs

Personality

Jean is a joyful friendly young man to those who attend his services and which greet him on a daily basis. To those behind the grates of the confessional, he is quiet and compassionate. Willing to listen to every sin laid bare no matter how distasteful, and always ready to lend forgiveness as long as one is truly regretful. His fondest times are on Sunday mornings when he attends the children's Sunday School, and enthusiastically serves as Pastor when needed to fill in for a brother that has fallen ill or who is struggling with life's problems. His demeanor is one of quiet wisdom and understanding, an oddity given his age but one that few seem to have a problem with.

However, this is merely the surface level to who Jean is. Few can note it, but there is an air of melancholy with which permeates the edges of Jean's otherwise pleasant presence. A sort of sadness that while not all together immediate, can be traced by his distant warmth and perfect manners. As much as they are genuine, the daily part of himself is a well constructed facade practiced to perfection. One which leaves cracks to peer within at his inner turmoil. Bred from his well regarded empathy at the tragically sad fate that is Mankind and his history.

Facade shed, Jean is very much a different person. Melancholic to borderline apathy, his philosophical nature spills forth almost uncontrollably. Man's place in the world(s), and that of God in relation are of great importance to him. To the point that he seeks truth well beyond the Lord's teachings for answers he cannot otherwise grasp. Isolated in this quest for meaning among his peers he is cold and antisocial, unable to trust or confide in others as they prefer to carry on life with hollowed delusion. The burden of others sins, his own, and their existential nature visibly splinter Jean from the inside out.

But, no stranger to death nor suffering, the scenes of the underworld and their mechanics are to him unsurprising nor greatly disturbing. Instead he bears them much as he does the tales from his Bible. With solemn reverence and hope to those unfortunate.

Abilities

Astral Manipulation: The power to manipulate astral energy. Chiefly that of his own. Years upon years of meditation not simply on nothingness, but on God's word has awakened this ability in Jean. Who from the time of it's discovery, by various tombs and old teachings across the globe has mastered the basics on his own. This power grants him two very important abilities. Astral Vision and Astral Projection.

AV allows him to see overlapping dimensions beyond the physical plane of existence. Which grants him the ability to glimpse into the spiritual side of the world. From this he can grasp much about a person based on their Aura(Emotions&Health) or lack there of which would indicate supernatural phenomena.

AP allows him to separate his spirit from his body by entering a trance or during rest, gaining access to travel the Astral Plane. This allows him to speak with the dead and even go in search of God, at his own peril. Additionally, he can travel the corporeal world in this form unhindered.

Divine Territory: The power to create a protected area of pure divine/godly energy which damages/repels/purifies anything that enters its range. Primarily a defensive skill, this is possible through ritualistic ceremonies calling upon the word of God to cleanse and repel evil spirits and the undead alike. Generally, it greatly weakens the effectiveness of Magic both Base and Dark by interfering with the properties at work with which manifest it. Much like how a radio signal can be disrupted by white noise or a more powerful one. Those without a soul or a distinct will such as ghouls, enter a frenzy state within the territory before eventually collapsing. True Vampires or higher entities of evil are merely pacified so as to be on a more level playing field with the castor. Though, physical properties more or less remain the same, but the supernatural can expect physical fights to be more demanding within Divine Territory.

Weakness

Mortal: The effectiveness of Jean's Divine Territory and his ability to Manipulate Astral energy are greatly linked to his mental state and faith. The weaker his faith and mental stability the weaker his ability to perform these feats. Additionally, these deeds require great mental concentration. Things such as sleep deprivation, hunger, thirst, and any other human ailment can greatly disrupt Jean's concentration. Furthermore, Jean is by all definition still very much a mortal and susceptible to mortal wounds and injury.

Backstory

Jean's backstory is not all untypical despite its dreadful beginnings. Born as a product of unchecked lust, he was forced into the world as a bastard. The result of a married man and his teenage mistress. Frowned upon with great disdain, the eventual disclosure of his existence cost his father everything. Wife, home, fortune, and even dignity. Reputation beyond repair due to the slander not even his handsome charm could recover, Jean's father would eventually become a town drunk. His mother, being the manipulative type out after money disappeared following the resulting fiasco. Said to have changed name and even face, she was believed to be happily married elsewhere but no one could ever confirm it. Left in the care of his father, Jean lived a troubled childhood. Forced to grow up too soon for his age and passing all the joys of being a kid in an instant.

The largest victim of his father's outbursts and deception, the boy despite this had unflinching loyalty and love for the sorry excuse of a parent. Only natural many agreed, given that his father was the only family he had known and likely would. As Jean grew older he matured and much quicker than his peers. Setting him apart from the crowd early on and isolating him even further. He only managed to find solace and comfort in attending services on Sunday. Slowly finding a second family in the church he began to distance himself from his father until at the age of fifteen when he moved out to live on his own.

Taken in by members of the church his new permanent life began and blossomed. Beginning to do better in school, he made friends with those who attended his church, and eventually began to squeeze some amount of joy from life. This continued on up until is late teens. As he neared his eighteenth birthday he made the decision to become a priest. Assuming the heavy responsibility soon became a daunting task, but oddly fitting for one who's innocence and ignorance of people was corrected early on. Though, Jean felt he could not simply be a priest without first grasping the human spirit. The difficulties with his father left this a staggering challenge. To the point where he decided upon saving his father as a personal rite of passage. For several years Jean struggle with the task. Each new year bringing about another layer of depravity he had not known the human spirit capable of.

Learning first hand what others meant by alcohol bringing about the worst in a man, he grew ever more familiar with the empty shallow nature of his father. But not just him, those too around him within the ministry shared parts of him. Those who lacked the patience he did, the empathy and compassion. Who secretly doubted, disdained, and openly mocked him among their peers. Despite his knowledge of such things, there was little he could do. His control and influence even as a priest were quite limited he found. And even more distressing was that he found the teachings of God could not get through to any man who did not wish to believe in him. This he judged early and left him doubting the teachings and will of God as a whole.

Fast forward several more years and today Jean lives a double life. Managing the sins and turmoil of others while enduring the false smiles of his peers during the day. At night and when not bound by the church Jean delves into the underworld of the city. Studying the occult, the pagan, the myths and legends that haunt the far corners of humanity to this day. He has learned and seen much that his fellow clergy would turn a blind eye to in fear and disgust. But, it is his ever present curiosity about humanity, about himself and his place within the world that keeps him going ever deeper.

Occasionally he will perform an exorcism or cleanse an area of evil, but this is all done behind the mask of another persona. The Doctor, as he is called and employed under is one of many secrets and few truths. A Jack of all Trades regarding the supernatural and the opposite of his contrasting Father Morley. The Doctor uses his knowledge to help and empower those victim to the supernatural while searching to unravel it's complex mysteries.

Name: Jack Richardson/legion

Age: 20

Gender: Male

Species: Hunter

Height: 6'0”

Weight: 170

Personality: Jack's personality can vary depending on how many spirits he has inside him.
1-2 spirits he's a bit irritable.
3-4 he gets angry very quickly and easily.
5 or more he starts going insane.
His trust in others is very limited and he will be known to lash out at others. On the rare occasion, he may attack and kill a civilian, but, for the most part, he's a nice guy who likes to help people like he did as a kid.

Skills:
Hunting
Tracking
Knowledge of monsters
Hand to hand fighting

Abilities:
Spectral Vessel:
Jack has the ability to absorb untethered souls, storing them within his own body. These souls still have autonomy, able to perceive the world through him. They can communicate with him, if they so choose, and can alter his mindset if strong or numerous enough. Jack also is capable of releasing these spirits at will, granting them the ability to act of their own accord. Finally, Jack can also enforce his will over these spirits, forcing them to act however he chooses. Doing so, however is dangerous, as the backlash can lead to even more dire situations.

Weaknesses:
Although having sprits might be a great thing it messes with him mentally and physically, making his judgment of certain events not so great.
While he can contain spirits, they can affect him in negative ways, including communicating with him, and with enough strength and numbers, damage his sanity.
Without spirits, Jack is a basic human with no outstanding abilities.

Backstory: At the young age of 9, Jack was loved by everyone in his small quiet town. He and his dad helped with jobs around the town. His dad was a retired, but renowned, hunter, and he kept it hidden from Jack while he was young. One day while they were out, his mother had gotten sick. When they returned home, they saw everyone outside of there homes, asking them not to enter. Morbidly curious, the boy rushed through them to find his mother dead on the floor. People said it was illness that took her, but Jack's father knew better. He knew what had killed her, and he took Jack into his arms, shielding him from the grisly sight. That was the day Jack’s perfect life started to fall apart. One year later, Jack's father told him his mother was killed by a creature of the night. Jack was traumatized by his father's words and refused to believe it. His father knew it was time to tell of his past life as a hunter. Jack’s father decided to teach him the ways of a hunter. The next 3 years of Jack's life would be spent on training to be a master hunter like his father. Jack was taught how to handle a blade, as well as practical use of firearms. His father would go on to teach how to track and hunt the creatures.
One day, Jack and his father drove into a nearby town for supplies. This was a needed break from training. While in the city, he had caught wind of a vampire being in town. Jack’s father loaded up the car with the supplies. He gave jack the keys and told him to drive his way home. Jack was nervous, he'd not been taught how to drive before, but, he knew what he had to do. Before Jack drove off, his dad told him only trust your weapons and your instincts. as Jack drove off his father called his former partner, and began went on to pursue the vampire. Fast forward two years, and his dad had not returned. so he feared the worst. His dad was dead. He decided to train on his own using various weapons and guns. At 18, he took a liking a style of fighting utilizing dual swords. Jack has since become skilled in the use of firearms and crossbows, as well as many other weapon's by his twentieth birthday he felt his skill were good enough to pursue the vampire that haunted his past. Recently, he has found himself in Chicago, where a recent uprising of supernatural and paranormal activity in the area. He hopes to find signs there.

Name: Merek | (Blood Pope)
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Species: Human?
Weight: 6'0"
Height: 170lbs

Personality

Merek is very much a stoic of the modern era. Wearing an expressionless face, it is difficult for others to gauge what sort of thoughts or emotions lurk beneath his cold exterior. To some this proves rather unnerving as he prefers to stare for moments without immediate answer. Answering with a simple gesture of the eyes or a raise of the hand. He is a man of few words and even fewer expressions. However, that is chiefly to those he deems undeserving of his attention or otherwise bore him with their goals and intentions. Those who offer a challenge, who share in his philosophy or goals are guests to a rare side of the man. One who rather enjoys a game of chess with the stakes being no less than absolute destruction for both parties involved. A rather twisted being if not one suffering from bouts of mania.

Given this nature, it should surprise none that his empathy for his fellow man is rather low on the hierarchy of motivations. He has little to no qualms about the systematic slaughter of his own species for the survival of their shadowy vampiric overlords. Nor serving them in their quest to reign in the humans where and when they desire. By result, his bonds with others rest on mutual benefit and are severed whenever it behooves him. This calculating ruthless nature has impressed more than a fair share of the immortals who favor him with the title Blood Pope.

Backstory

Not much is known about Merek's past before the Order. No digital, print, photographic, or data otherwise seems to even support the matter of his existence up until the modern age. A peculiar oddity about the man among many others, but one that seems to he highly coveted. Those who have went in search of identifying the man, and returned, become a part of his shrouded past. That is, they cease to exist, and up and vanish without a single trace. Their homes are either demolished or auctioned, their families and friends soon following in their footsteps. And for all practical purposes, no one ever dares to seek out why this happens, for the very reason that it does.

What is known and treated as fact mostly falls from Merek's own mouth. He was born to a middle class family, to which grave misfortune resulted in him inheriting the family estate and its meager wealth. This was at the age of sixteen. From there through his own ambition and luck he was able to turn the sum into a reputable fortune. Why, he did not live a life of luxury from that point on is chalked up to insanity, but in time he relocated to Chicago. Fading from public eye into the shadows of the Underworld. There he continued in his "business dealings", but using a different currency and discussing with "foreign" traders.

To the uninitiated the Order is very much a typical syndicate. To those who work behind the scenes, directing the black suits it is a much larger and darker operation. "Meals on Wheels" Vampires ironically yet affectionately refer to it. Offer those under its guidance or within its alliance a free supply of fresh breathing humans. Undocumented in most cases, they're completely untraceable by the law and anyone who might notice or care for their disappearance. Homeless making up the bulk of them, they are treated much like human livestock up til delivery. Cleaned, fattened, tested and treated for diseases, etc. The customer is made the prime concern, and if unsatisfied they are eligible to another course that better fits their tastes. The only stipulation is that one cannot maul or destroy the bodies. Such acts would be bad for business and see a decline in the available organ donations both on the black market and in general hospitals.

The business is one of maximum efficiency, secrecy, and profit. This has earned the Order clients on both sides of Chicago's Vampiric population. Choosing not to discriminate for the sake of equal opportunity and business. The Order acts as a middle man between humankind and the once human. It's also not unheard of that a werewolf or two has approached the order with special requests of the MOW. But that is a far rarer occurrence.

With an iron hand, Merek oversees his Order alongside several heads of both the Leon and Drake families. In order to help ease the strain of their respective thirst upon society and it's backlash against their existence. Or so he claims.
