First things first!

Hii, I'm derelict_lilyflower, but you can call me Derelict or Lily, but not Lilyflower. I'm a 19 year old student! I've been writing for over a decade but I've been here for almost two years now and have written a lot of stuff. Some of you might know me already :)) My life is uninteresting besides from these points

So, now that we have the introductions out of the way, I want to present my idea.

  • This rp is set in a small kingdom called Caerleon, and it is neighbouring several other small kingdoms. The year is 278 NE (New Era).

Every roleplayer can have up to 2 characters each, and only one main character. In order for the roleplay to commence, all of the royal family roles need to be taken.

  • THE AGE OF PEACE
In the year 203 NE, the Kingdom of Alvador and the Empire ended their thirty-year war. The rulers who had initiated the peace were King Rufus IV of Alvador (141-210 NE) and Emperor Wenslas XI (157-220 NE). New borders for the two kingdoms had been drawn up in a treaty.
THE FALL OF ALVADOR, 231 NE

In 229 NE, King Rufus V of Alvador (188-243 NE) sought to marry the daughter of Emperor Nebuchadnezzar III (185-257 NE), but the emperor refused his request. Rufus V declared war against the Empire as a response to this insult, but the Empire proved to be a far greater military strength, and by 231 NE, the Alvadorian capital Lavindor was conquered by the Empire, and Rufus V was forced into exile. His loyal general Esrys Rajursson (181-243 NE) followed the king into exile, along with his son Rodric Esrysson (205-51 NE), and Rufus' page, Vektar Soichre (212 NE-).

THE FIRST YEARS OF THE REBELLION [233-36 NE]
Esrys and Rodric, father and son, served the exiled king Rufus V loyally by protecting him from assassination attempts orchestrated by the Empire. However, in 233 NE, Rufus V decided to instigate a nationwide rebellion against the Empire. Refusing to put the life of his young sons Brandon and Leander into any danger, Rodric refused to join Rufus V’s rebellion, so Esrys likewise remained neutral in the conflict.

Rufus V travelled to Selroth Castle, whose lord Petyr Selroth (166-236 NE) had formerly served as a vassal of the Kingdom of Alvador, but who had since been spared and recruited into the Imperial Army. It was there that Petyr Selroth swore allegiance to Rufus V and helped him to initiate the rebellion. Aranin Lorgain (d.272 NE) also participated in the rebellion. For the next three years, the rebellion failed to make any serious headway, and the soldiers began to resent the command of Petyr Selroth.

In 236 NE, Esrys Rajursson decided to join the rebellion after an unsuccessful assassination attempt on his life was orchestrated by the Empire. However, Rufus V had not forgotten Esrys’ decision not to follow him in the early stages of the rebellion, so he refused to accept Esrys’ service. In order to force Rufus V’s hand, Esrys killed Petyr Selroth and assumed control of his armies. Since the king could not risk losing the bulk of his military force, he was compelled into a reluctant alliance with his former vassal. Petyr Selroth’s grandson, Rogen Selroth (215-71 NE), never forgot Esrys’ actions, but continued to serve in the rebellion nonetheless, along with his childhood friend, Denys Mayne (209-73 NE).

THE LATER YEARS OF THE REBELLION [236-47 NE]

Esrys and Rodric fought valiantly in the rebellion for several years, conquering many cities which had formerly belonged to Alvador. In 239 NE, Rodric led a campaign into the Wildlands, entering deep into imperial territory. There, he fought long and hard against the imperial forces, but he was ultimately forced to withdraw to the city of Morecambe, which Rufus V and Esrys had conquered and made their primary stronghold. During his withdrawal, Rodric and his party, which included both Aranin Lorgain and Vektar Soichre, happened upon a village which had been ransacked by the Imperial army, where he found a crying newborn wrapped in his deceased mother’s arms. Rodric buried the mother before the village shrine and took the young child with him to Morecambe. There, he named the newborn Edric and raised him alongside his sons Brandon and Leander.

After making further progress, Rufus V and Esrys plotted an invasion of the city of Lavindor, which was the largest city in the northwestern region of the Empire and the former capital of Alvador. However, since instigating the rebellion a decade beforehand, Rufus V had grown mad in his impatience and a rift had been created between the former king and his general. Their feud became irreparable after Rufus V, in a drunken stupor, killed Esrys’ squire. Esrys plotted to kill Rufus V during the siege and establish his own kingdom upon capturing Lavindor. In 243 NE, Rufus V and Esrys finally invaded Lavindor, but Rufus V was ambushed by the forces of the Imperial general Ayer Bourdillon (d.271 NE) and killed. Esrys himself was killed after breaching the city gates when he was struck by a stray arrow and hacked to death by Imperial soldiers.

THE FOUNDATION OF THE KINGDOM OF CAERLEON [247 NE]

Following the deaths of Rufus V and Esrys Rajursson, Rodric Esrysson took command of the rebellion and withdrew from Lavindor. In the four years after the first siege of Lavindor, Rodric trained the rebel army and won a succession of military conflicts against the Empire until he had become known throughout the continent as a renowned warrior of unmatched skill. In 247 NE, Rodric led the armies once more, with his sons Brandon and Leander participating in his army, to besiege the city of Lavindor. The siege lasted for three months with no avail until, bribed by the promise of land and a beautiful wife by a general in the rebel army, the defender of Lavindor, Ayer Bourdillon, opened the city gates to Rodric’s armies. Rodric proceeded to sack the city and exterminate the Imperial troops, but Ayer Bourdillon and his party were spared execution.

After strengthening Lavindor’s defences, Rodric returned to Morecambe and declared himself King of Caerleon. Rogen Selroth was given Selroth Castle, his ancestral home, as an offer of peace by King Rodric, who was aware that Rogen held a grudge against him for Esrys’ role in Petyr’s murder. Aranin Lorgain was given Fort Hastain, which Aranin had besieged and conquered shortly after Rodric had taken Lavindor. Aranin renamed Fort Hastain as Lorgain Castle. Vektar Soichre was given Lavindor, for his role in the army, since he had been born and raised there. Although Ayer Bourdillon’s life had been spared for his defection at Lavindor, the general who had promised him lands and a wife fell back on his word. Several other generals in the rebellion were granted lands for their participation.

THE DEATH OF KING RODRIC, 251 NE

Even after King Rodric’s coronation, the defector Ayer Bourdillon had still not been granted the lands that the general had promised him, but the general’s daughter Naeva had begun courting Ayer in secret. When the general discovered this, he called for Ayer to be executed. However, fate had a different plan. In late 251 NE, the Empire invaded Caerleon, and the general was summoned to participate in the conflict. King Rodric was ambushed by the Empire in Blackwood Forest, and the general was gravely wounded while defending his king in the battle. Naeva pleaded with Ayer to lead reinforcements to rescue her father in the battle, but the general had died before he arrived. Ayer rallied her father’s troops to allow King Rodric’s army to retreat, but the king was killed before he could escape the battlefield. Queen Amelie died of a broken heart soon after, and he was succeeded by his son King Brandon (226-60 NE).

    A SECOND AGE OF PEACE

The princes Brandon and Leander had both participated in the battle which saw King Rodric lose his life, along with the young Edric Sunder. Unwilling to see any more members of his family and nation killed at the hands of the Empire, the newly coronated King Brandon quickly made moves to assert peace between Caerleon and the Empire once and for all. By this point, the defector Ayer had assumed command of Naeva’s father’s troops and lands through a marriage to Naeva. King Brandon later formally recognised and legitimised Ayer’s position as a reward for his role at the Siege of Lavindor and the Battle of Blackwood Forest.

The peace which ensued afterwards was grand. Prince Leander (230 NE-) married Lady Aurelia Sambridge soon after King Brandon’s coronation, and he sired two sons, Prince Anre (252 NE-) and Prince Dominic (258 NE-), and a daughter, Princess Orlagh (258 NE-).

    THE PLAGUE OF 259-60 NE

The birth of the twins, Prince Dominic and Princess Orlagh, had created a stir in the royal household due to a heterochromatic affliction borne by the princess which many perceived as being an ill omen for the kingdom. Initially, King Brandon and Prince Leander paid no heed to the omen and celebrated the birth of his children. However, just a year later, a devastating famine plagued the kingdom. The capital, Morecambe, was able to survive the food shortages due to timely supplies sent by a subordinate lord, however, this didn’t prevent a plague from wreaking havoc through the capital as a result. Lady Aurelia was amongst the first to fall ill to this deadly plague. Although she seemed to have been making a recovery after months of suffering, she suddenly passed away in late 259 NE. Several months later in early 260 NE, King Brandon also succumbed to the plague after only a month of suffering. Although the plague seemed to have disappeared by the end of that year, many doctors believed that Orlagh’s birth was the ill omen which had prophesised the plague’s coming, and feared that she was a mark of misfortune on the kingdom. Orlagh was raised essentially in house arrest thereafter, when King Leander refused to kill his daughter to end the supposed curse.

    THE TINCEN CONSPIRACY, 262 NE

In 262 NE, the king of the neighbouring city-state of Tincen plotted to invade the Kingdom of Caerleon, however, this decision led to Adil and Hala Hasnoui, two nobles of Tincen, to begin a conspiracy to depose the king. Adil’s coup was ultimately unsuccessful, and he was arrested and later executed by the King of Tincen, along with the majority of his family. His youngest child, Shadia Hasnoui, was spared by the king due to her young age, and raised in his palace as a maid. Although the conspiracy to depose the king had ended in failure, the event had convinced the king not to invade Caerleon after all.

A nobleman from Tincen eventually began conspiring with a general from the Empire about invading Caerleon on two fronts, attacking through Selroth Castle in the north and Lavindor in the south, following the king's decision not to invade Caerleon. Although the King discovered the conspiracy and prevented it from going any further, the Imperial general went through with the invasion of Lavindor regardless. Vektar Soichre and his sons Josef and Jetiah met the Imperial army before they could reach Lavindor, and decimated them. The general was later executed by the Empire since the invasion hadn't been sanctioned. As a result of the brief conflict which had seen many peasants killed, several towns near Lavindor rose in rebellion with the intention to replace Vektar Soichre with a new lord. In 263 NE, the Empire sent financial support to the leaders of the rebellion, so Vektar Soichre went to confront the rebels before they could afford to arm themselves. Vektar was seriously wounded when the rebels proved to be tougher than they appeared, and became incapable of leadership, so he named his bastard son Josef as the acting lord. Josef put down the rebellion and waged war with the Empire for supporting it.
THE BATTLE OF SELROTH CASTLE, 271 NE
In 270 NE, Lord Rogen Selroth led a rebellion against the Kingdom of Caerleon. This rebellion proved troublesome for the kingdom, because Lord Selroth was amongst the lords who had been honoured by King Rodric as enabling the kingdom’s foundation. Lord Selroth had never forgotten the brutal murder of his grandfather Petyr Selroth by King Leander’s grandfather Esrys Rajursson over three decades ago, and had secretly been plotting the right time to rebel. He had rallied his armies to march onto Morecambe after the death of King Rodric in 251 NE but never set forth following the news of King Brandon’s coronation and peace treaty with the Empire. He had later rallied his armies to seize Morecambe during the plague after King Brandon’s death in 260 NE, but withdrew upon learning of the survival of King Leander and his children. He also plotted with the king of Tincen to invade Caerleon with his military support in 262 NE, but the ploy fell through. By 270 NE, Lord Selroth had grew impatient, and planned his rebellion of his own accord.

Lord Selroth persuaded Denys Mayne, his subordinate and a lord of a small area of land in the northwestern region of the kingdom, to propose marriage between his daughter Ashelia Mayne and the Crown Prince Anre. Anre decided to travel to Denys Mayne’s city to meet Ashelia, and they swore vows of betrothal while they were there. However, on his return journey to Morecambe, Anre decided to pay Lord Selroth a visit to thank him for orchestrating the betrothal. It was there that Lord Selroth initiated his rebellion, as his soldiers took weapons and attempted to assassinate Anre. Lord Selroth’s assassination attempt failed for numerous reasons, but the main reason lied in the fact that Anre had not yet arrived at Selroth Castle when the assassination attempt had taken place. It had been another man, Anre’s childhood friend, who had been killed in the attempt, after Prince Anre had sent him to alert Lord Selroth to Anre’s upcoming arrival.

Hearing of the attempt on his life, Anre immediately called for reinforcements to assist him. Denys Mayne was amongst the first to respond to his call, and the Battle of Selroth Castle began in early 271 NE. During the battle, Anre fought bravely but was eventually surrounded and taken captive after Lord Selroth decided to hold the prince hostage as leverage in his rebellion against King Leander. Ayer Bourdillon's reinforcements failed to arrive, due to his claim that he didn't have the manpower or supplies to support them.

However, the general Edric Sunder had responded to Anre’s capture by marching to Selroth Castle with an army and besieging the castle. During the siege, it is said that Edric destroyed a castle gate by throwing himself at it. Whether the story was true or false, Edric was able to breach the castle gates and lead his troops into the castle. Taking advantage of the chaos, Prince Anre was able to escape from captivity, set fire to the castle and slaughter Lord Selroth and his family. Ayer Bourdillon was assassinated later in the year, by unknown assailants.
ISSUES WITH THE EMPIRE AND NEIGHBOURING KINGDOMS, 272-73 NE

Following a frequent spree of bandit raids on the city of Gerana, it was quickly discovered that the bandits were from Shancera. During one of the raids, Aranin Lorgain attempted to take control of the situation, but he was killed during one of the skirmishes with the bandits. In response, Keadan Lorgain travelled to the capital of the Kingdom of Shancera and demanded an audience with the King, who he informed of the bandit raids, and demanded justice. The King decided to reward whoever eliminated the bandits in order to solve the issue. Crafting a strategy, Keadan successfully eradicated the bandit camps and claimed the reward, which he used to invest and expand, also starting a successful business in logistics. He quickly became one of the wealthiest lords in the kingdom.
In 273 NE, a peasant rebellion took place in Tincen. Many servants killed and stole from their masters, with some taking over their masters' estates and others becoming wanderers or fugitives. Due to the violent nature of the situation, many innocent people were forced out of the homes and forced to go into self-imposed exile. Shadia Hasnoui, who was being raised in the royal palace, was taken by a group of servants who had raised her as they planned to find service in the Empire. While travelling through Caerleon, since King Leander had allowed those in exile to have safe passage, the group abandoned Shadia in Morecambe, where she was taken in as a maid in the royal palace. The situation in Tincen hasn't yet resolved itself completely.

DENYS AND ASHELIA MAYNE'S ASSASSINATION PLOT, 273 NE

Following Prince Anre and Ashelia Mayne's betrothal in 270 NE, Denys Mayne had become a noteworthy lord, as his potential future grandchildren would one day inherit the throne. His influence and fame grew larger when he heard Prince Anre's call-to-arms against his liege lord Rogen Selroth and participated in the Siege of Selroth Castle. By the end of 271 NE, Denys Mayne was given the abandoned Selroth Castle and its surrounding lands by Prince Anre in gratitude. However, Denys left the castle soon after, and relocated to Morecambe, in order to increase his influence over the young crown prince. Denys was invited to take a seat in King Leander's council in 272 NE, and he eventually became a prominent member of the court.

However, Denys and his daughter, Ashelia, were secretly plotting to increase the Mayne family's power even further still. Motivated by greed and fame, and aware that King Leander was a fairly young king in an age of peace, Denys decided that he didn't want to wait around for the king to die naturally, since he could have been waiting for longer than he had to live. Thus, Denys plotted to assassinate King Leander. In 273 NE, Anre was set to marry Ashelia. Denys plotted to assassinate the king once Anre and Ashelia were wed, to ensure that she would certainly become queen, and might have been successful in his attempt. However, Denys became convinced that Anre, who had begun to respect Denys as a father figure, would be so blinded by his love for Ashelia and his loyalty to the Mayne family, as well as by an ambition to succeed to the throne, that he would assist in the assassination attempt of King Leander. Denys personally requested Anre to participate in the plot, leading to Anre immediately arresting Denys and executing him three days later.

Deciding to wed Ashelia in order to honour the Mayne family, as the other members had been oblivious to the plot, Anre allowed the Mayne family to resume leadership from Selroth Castle. On the day of their wedding, Anre realised that Ashelia had always known about Denys' assassination plot and was even attempting to poison King Leander herself at the wedding meal, to honour the memory of her father. Anre ordered Ashelia to drink the vial of poison herself to prove that it didn't have any poison in it. Ashelia drunk the poison, knowing that she had an antidote just in case, but Anre proceeded to drink the antidote himself. Her frenzied response made Anre realise that she had betrayed him, so he locked her in his chambers and abandoned her to succumb to the poison. Ashelia threw herself out of the window to her death to avoid dying slowly. Anre later banished the Mayne family from Selroth Castle and exiled them from Caerleon, sparing their lives on account of their innocence.

I'm thinking a cross between Gregor, Eddard, and Robbert. He would be this massive, bosterious, too-honorable-for-his-own-good knight-lord. He would be a close friend with the king, but a life time of war made him really unsuitable for politics and court intrigue.

For example, if you put him in Eddard's position when Cersei revealed her fuck-up to his, this guy would just reached out and snapped her neck right then and there.

Fair enough aha! I can't wait to see your cs :)

Is there a CS template, because I may be slightly blind?

Ah no! I will post it now!

Name: Anre Esrysson
Title: Crown Prince of Caerleon
Age: 26
Birthdate: 3 December, 252 New Era
Gender: Male
Nationality: Caerleon
Sexuality: Heterosexual

Appearance
Anre is a tall, handsome man with pale blue eyes and shoulder-length black hair. He is a slender, well-built man, who often dresses in black robes.
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 185 lbs

Personality
Anre is a polite, well-mannered prince, who is well-shaped for his position as the Crown Prince of Caerleon. He respects all of the kings and noblemen as well as the commoners of his realm, and understands the significance of his future role as the protector of the realm, and thus he aims to shape his personality around that of his father, the king. He is also very kind and caring towards his younger siblings, hoping to be a role model for them in the future. Anre has various flaws, in that he trusts much too easily. He likes to give people a chance without judging them based on their pasts, and therefore he often has shady characters surrounding him. However, although he is initially merciful, when wronged, Anre ensures that he carries out justice swiftly, and he practices justice mercilessly. It could be said that Anre is too serious for his own good.

Backstory
Anre is the eldest son of King Leander, born during the reign of his uncle King Brandon. Once his father became king, Anre realised the expectations that the people would have for him, and began to mould himself to become a future king. He trained in sword fighting, horse riding and martial arts as well as in literature, art and music, and was known to be a very cultured prince.

During his maiden battle in 271 NE, while putting down the rebellion of the rebellious lord Rogen Selroth, Anre charged ahead and personally killed nine enemy soldiers but he was struck by a stray arrow during the battle. Wounded by the arrow, he was cut down by one of the enemy soldiers, but the rebelling lord spared his life and took him captive instead. Anre was held for ransom by Lord Selroth, but before the ransom money could have been transferred, Anre set fire to the lord's castle and slaughtered his entire family as they attempted to escape. This was one example of Anre's mercilessness when wronged.

Anre later began to educate himself with battle tactics in order to prevent such a disaster from occurring on the battlefield again. In 273 NE, Anre was betrothed to a woman named Ashelia Mayne, who was a potential suitor, however, Ashelia's father Denys was secretly plotting to kill the king so that the Mayne family could become powerful. When Anre discovered the plot, he had Denys arrested and executed, and later forced Ashelia to commit suicide when he realised that she had always known her father's intentions. Anre spared the remaining members of the Mayne family and had them exiled from Caerleon. This is another example of Anre's merciless sense of justice.

Name: Edric Sunder
Age: 39
Birthdate: 239 NE
Gender:
Ethnicity
: Wildborn Caerleon
Height: 7'3 feet
Weight: 400 pounds

Appearance: A handsome, muscle-bound, gigantic monster of a man. Edric Sunder towers over all around him with his bulk and height. He is almost never seen without his armor and weapons, many call Edric the personification of war.

Personality: Edric is a straightforward, gregarious man ,perhaps even a tad arrogance in his own strength. He lives in the moment, seeing what is apparent and simple to understand. For him, the world is a simple place, with clear cut wrong and right. He lives only to serve the King, and to crush his enemies. As long as the King continue to call upon his service to reduce his enemies to broken bones and pulverized flesh, Edric is happy.
Likes: The King, Brandon, fighting, war, drinking, party, loyalty, the Church and its teaching
Dislikes: Traitors, liars, politics and intrigue, dishonorable conducts, unholy actions.
Fears: Being betrayed by his closests and most trusted, growing old.
Secrets: Edric personally have no secret, being too straigthforward for such things. However, he does hold the secrets of the kingdom itself, having carried out dark, questionable orders from the king many times in the past in the name of securing the throne.
Strengths: A natural strategic and tactical genius, honed by long campaigns and a body straight out of the ancient fairy tales make Edric is a master of all things war, being it strategy or personal martial prowess.
Weaknesses: A short, explosive temper, his black and white view of the world, mule-headed stuborness and his blind loyalty to the king.

Backstory: Edric is a child of the Wild Lands, the untamed stretched of jungles and swamp lands that has never seen the light of civilization. It was the land, according to old tales, where dark beasts and darker men lurk and sleep freely with each other, spawning unnatural offsprings.

During the rebellion from 237-247 NE, King Rodric Esrysson followed the rebels into the Wild Lands, where he found a newborn Edric crying within the arms of his dead mother. King Rodric took the baby back with him and fostered him as if he was his own child, in addition to his two trueborn sons.

Growing up, Edric shown a great affinity for the art of war. Squiring under king Rodric since the age of nine, Edric has been splitting skulls and waging wars when other children his age yet to learn know how to grip a blade. Many years, campaigns, and broken enemies later, Edric was granted his own title, lordship and land. After the passing of King Rodric, Edric now serve as the military advisor for the new king, whom he see as brother in all but blood.

Theme Song:

Additional info: Edric's arms and armor are tailored to his bulk and strength. His blade weight as much as a normal man, and function just as well as a club if the blade is dulled, his shield is like a mountain's cliff, while the steel plates that covered his body is thicker than a knight's shields.

His strength is truly monstrous, capable of moving and fighting with these gears as if they weight nothing. It was said that he once broke through a castle's gate by throwing himself at the gate untill it

@Kinton Nyr @munchkinomatic

I'm going to merge Edric and Anre's backstories into the timeline :))

In Anre's bio, you stated that he was captured and escaped by setting fire to the castle and killing the lord's familt after his first battle and in Edric's bio, you stated that he was said to have destroyed a castle gate by throwing himself at it

I'm considering having these events occur at the same time.

When Prince Anre fights in his first battle, he is captured and held hostage in the rebel lord's castle. Edric Sunder would lead the army to besiege the castle and managed to open the gates by throwing himself at it - his physical strength and suit of armour being tough enough to act as some sort of battering ram. Taking advantage of the chaos in the rebel lord's castle after Edric breaks in, Prince Anre sets fire to the castle, slaughters the family of the rebel lord and escapes. The battle would have since become a thing of legends.

This would mean that your characters would have some sort of established relationship. Since Edric is steadfastly loyal to the king, he would be loyal to Anre if he ever became king. Perhaps they would have a good relationship in light of that fact

The princess still available to take? I was thinking of maybe making her physically marred in some way that has brought the crown into superstitious disrepute. Say that people believe she is cursed because of her physical marring be it a birthmark, some sort of skin condition or having different coloured eyes, a belief that only further enables the Queen to enact her conspiracy. Obviously, this'd be up to you ultimately as it would be a massive staple of the in-universe culture and beliefs. :) I was just thinking for something that is an unusual physical trait so could be misconstrued as a 'bad omen' in medieval society.

As for the second character, I'd be happy to take the Lord who is conspiring with the Queen. FC's below simply for me to be able to quickly reference/remember them as I type with weary, beer-fuelled fingers and brutally fail to find any decent artwork to substitute :3
