Chaos takes root in moments of order's mistakes.

Error brings things of totality
Unflinching in their natural discord.

Where it all happens...

Sasebo, Japan. A city in the Nagasaki Prefecture, situated by the water. Perhaps the first sign things were not right with the world, as the city is far from a notable point where it comes to leylines, nor was it entirely planned.

The selection of Masters came without warning or understanding; those entities that normally managed the startup of the Holy Grail War were baffled by the event, and still are yet to understand the significance of this seemingly autonomous activation. Nonetheless, the potential for a wish to be granted, anything at all, would not be passed up by those fortunate Masters that were mysteriously selected. They traveled to the location unwittingly set forth without anyone's consent to begin the Holy Grail War.

Catalysts gathered, the Masters began their rituals to summon a powerful Servant, hopeful of their victory and confident in their skills as magi to win the right to commune with the Holy Grail.

But as they would soon discover, there would not be seven Masters and seven Servants, but a mere three per. The remaining four Masters, and by extension, their Servants, would not be seen by anyone, even the overseer of the War. The progress of this Holy Grail would continue to baffle those participating.

Soon after, they would be not confused of what's to come, but frightened.

Welcome to Fate/Ichorum, a Fate/Stay Night roleplay set in Sasebo, Japan. Unlike in previous Holy Grail Wars, only three Masters have appeared, though they will not initially know it at the onset of the roleplay. There will be 6 players spots for this roleplay; 3 Servants and 3 Masters. Teams will be randomized. Posting expectations are paragraphs with good spelling, grammar, and general characterization ability. Posting schedule will be determined per round, but will likely be maximum a week (if that).

MASTER NOTES:
  • Magic in the Nasuverse is really nebulous and complicated. I'm not going to be very anal at all about how you craft your mage here. Just be reasonable with their magecraft.
  • Non-magic-family individuals are allowed, but only one. First come first served if you want to take the characteristic.

True Name
Gawain
Class
Saber
Gender
Male
Alignment
Lawful Good
Personality
⚔Chivalrous
⚔Optimistic
⚔Determined
⛨Stubborn
⛨Outdated
⛨Naive
Mythic History:
The nephew of King Arthur and one of greatest knights, who's peer was Lancelot, and who wielded the sister sword to Excalibur, Galatine. The very symbol of chivalry, he never holds back against those that challenge him and never refuses the request of a lady, a silver-haired knight who balanced on the thin line of virtue and honor. There was nothing he earnestly wished for himself, only a pure desire to see his king flourish in his role. If he could become the strength of the righteous, that was enough for him. If he could wipe away the tears from a sullied maiden's eyes, that was enough for him. If he could save his noble friends in exchange for injury upon himself, that was enough for him.

A hero through and through, it was this naïve belief that all other Knights were the same as him that began a cycle of violence and vengeance that concluded in his death.

And yet, even as his lifeblood spilled from his lips, he blamed no one but himself.

He could have done better, and the kingdom that he sought to protect was ended by his lack of strength, his lack of virtue.

Parameters:
Strength - B
Constitution - B
Agility - B
Mana: - EX
Luck - D

Class Skills:
Magic Resistance
Rank EX
Made a fool by the magic of a sorcereress and bearing a personality unaccustomed to trickery and deceit, Gawain bears a Magic Resistance of EX ranking, denoting how, unlike most Sabers, magic is extremely effective against him. Magical beams will be attracted to him, even without homing capabilities, and even weak illusions appear as reality in his eyes. On the other hand, healing by magic and the power of Command Spells also have their effectiveness increased, creating a double-edged sword.

Riding
Rank C
A Knight in Shining Armor must also be accompanied by an equally beautiful steed, steered with impeccable technique. On his status as a Knight of the Round Table alone, Gawain holds C-rank Riding skills, granting him above average skills in any land-based vehicles. Compared to the whimsy of a stallion, mechanical steeds are so much more obedient.

Personal Skills:
Blessing of the Sun
If his King were the moon, then he would be the sun, an individual blessed by the radiance that promotes growth and the flames that burn away the darkness. His strength waxes and wanes with the sun, attaining peak strength during noon and falling to his lowest point at midnight. Through this constant cycle of sunlight, Gawain's Strength, Constitution, and Agility are constantly in flux.

The Maidens' Knight
No matter how ugly or beautiful, Gawain is a champion of women, carefully observing all tenets of chivalry and deriving a greater inner strength by fighting within those bounds. If he draws his blade to defend the honor of a maiden from another man, serving as her champion in a one-on-one confrontation, his Strength, Constitution, and Agility all gain bonuses, representing the truest manifestation of his reputation. Conversely, if he were to be the 'villain' here, fighting under the orders of a male Master to slay the champion of another female, his strength fails him, the penalty for breaking his code of honor.

Unwavering Blade
Born from a pure desire to serve a righteous king, Gawain's skill with his sword is as unshakeable as his belief in his master. As long as his master acts righteously, adhereing a fair and honorable combat style, Gawain's swordplay is peerless, unaffected by mental interference or the extent of injuries he bears. However, as his master becomes less and less desirable as a ruler, uncertainty begins to eat away at Gawain's Strength, Consitution, and Agility. Doubts spring up, and hesitation mires his swordsmanship, crippling his skill as a knight

Noble Phantasm:
Galantine, The Sword of Victories Remembered
Anti-Unit
Rank C+
The sister sword of Excalibur, yet its opposite, Galantine is a sword of the stars, meant for constant conflict as opposed to a singular, heroic strike. For a youth that wished to be the strength of his king, not to overshadow them, such a desire manifests in a sword that draws its power from its surroundings, growing stronger and stronger time passes on. Heat is pulled from nature, Mana from the ether, and Prana from any spells that are destroyed, all of them empowering the Second Sun that makes up the blade of the longsword. As the environment becomes colder, the heat of Galantine becomes more and more intense, turning into a sword of flame that burns ever brighter, capable of slicing through armor with ease and surpassing even the might of A-rank Noble Phantasms.

Galantine, The Glory of Daybreak
Anti-Environment
Rank A
Upon reaching the point where Galantine matches the strength of an A-rank Noble Phantasm, Gawain can release all that energy into the sky, instantly changing the environment with the presence of a second sun that shines 1.5 miles in the sky. This is neither Bounded Field nor Reality Marble, but instead, is a miracle born from the emotions that spurred him to seek his ideals and the feelings that his valor inspires upon others. The night is cast away, and the warmth of summer rushes through the air. Snow and rain disappear immediately, revealing a heartbreakingly blue sky. As the rays of the sun scatter upon friends, wounds are healed at a rapid pace, their spirits uplifted at the sight. As the rays of the sun scorch foes, the foul and ill-intended scurry for shadows, their senses overwhelmed, their sins exposed to the heavens above.

And, as the rays of the second sun seeps into the body of Gawain, Galantine loses its radiance, reverting to its C-rank state. No longer a hero, no longer a legend, he returns to the times where he was but a single knight wishing to uphold the ideals of his King. Perhaps it was back then that he was at his strongest, his purest.

[glow=orange]True Name:[/glow] Sun Wukong
[glow=orange]Class:[/glow] Berserker

[glow=orange]Gender:[/glow] Female
[glow=orange]Alignment:[/glow] Chaotic Neutral
[glow=orange]Personality:[/glow]
Confident, courageous, amicable
Arrogant, impulsive, complete imbecile

[glow=orange]Mythic History:[/glow]
Sun Wukong was born atop a mountain from a sacred stone, declaring her creation by way of praying to the cardinal directions and as a result accidentally activating her laser eyes.

The Jade Emperor of the Heavens was initially, against all odds, dismissive of the Stone Monkey, and as such, she was allowed to roam free with the other monkeys. Once they decided to find the source of the stream they bathed in, the monkeys found a waterfall, and behind that, the Stone Monkey found a palace. Thus, she named herself the Handsome Monkey King, and so ruled peacefully for years.

In time, she became afraid of death, and, like the King of Heroes, set out on a quest for immortality. Unlike the King of Heroes, she found it. A certain sage named her Sun Wukong, and taught her Taoist principles that would grant great power and eternal life and granted her a magic cloud. In turn, she sought out a weapon, and obtained a grand pillar from the Dragon King of the Eastern Sea. This power attracted the attention of many demons, and Hell itself tried to take her soul. Sun was immortal, and thus furious, scribbling out the names of both herself and her subjects from death's books, rendering her "double immortal".

The Jade Emperor, hoping to control Sun a little, invited her to Heaven, but only gave her the rank of stableworker. Furious once again, Sun Wukong wreaked havoc, defeating Heaven's elite warriors with ease and demanding the title of "Great Sage, Equal to Heaven". Eventually receiving this title through sheer might, she was granted the task of tending the Peaches of Immortality instead to keep her busy and out of trouble.

Sun, being rather simple, impulsive, and rather hungry, ended up eating every single one of them.

Having fun, she ended up causing utter chaos, also eating Laozi's Pills of Longevity and getting drunk off her ass on the Jade Emperor's divine royal wine, in total rendering her immortal five times over.

The Jade Emperor was furious, and sent Heaven's armies against her. As such, Sun Wukong, drunk and pissed off, went berserk and annihilated ten thousand heavenly warriors, twenty-eight incarnated constellations, the Four Heavenly Kings, and the God of Protection Nezha, even fighting the legendary Erlang Shen to a standstill. Eventually, with the help of all the forces under Heaven, Tao, Buddhism, the gods, and even a bodhisattva, Sun was finally captured, to be distilled into an elixir by Laozi.

It didn't work.

Eventually, the Jade Emperor enlists the help of the Buddha, who, upon tricking Sun into an unwinnable bet, sealed her in a mountain for five centuries until she bargained with a certain monk to set her free in exchange for servitude on a Journey to the West.

[glow=orange]Parameters:[/glow]
STR [glow=orange]A[/glow]
END [glow=orange]B+[/glow]
AGL [glow=orange]B[/glow]
MGC [glow=orange]D[/glow]
LCK [glow=orange]B[/glow]

[glow=orange]CLASS SKILL[/glow]
Mad Enhancement
Rank C+
Ranks-Up all parameters. Because Sun Wukong does not pay much attention to her voice of reason in the first place, it is difficult to tell when this Skill is in effect. Once active however, Wukong will attempt to kill pretty much anything that's too difficult to eat and swallow everything that isn't.

[glow=orange]PERSONAL SKILLS[/glow]
Disciple of the Taoist
Rank B+
Sun Wukong can use all kinds of supernatural abilities to do with her own body, including transform into 72 different forms, clone herself from her own hairs, and cast magic of the six Chinese elements.

God Slayer
Rank B+
A super-effective Skill against beings of a divine inclination. In Sun Wukong's case, it also allows boosts against demonic entities.

Monstrous Strength
Rank A
Sun Wukong's STR can be Ranked-Up temporarily, but this exerts an enormous burden on her Master. In this state, she finds no difficulty in lifting even that which has a degree of Mystery surrounding its sheer weight.

[glow=orange]NOBLE PHANTASM
Jin Dou
[/glow]
Sky of the Great Sage
Anti-Unit Class
Rank D
A sacred cloud of mist that Sun Wukong can ride on. The cloud can travel at supersonic speeds, though it is neither enough to qualify her for Rider nor Caster, despite its magecraft-like nature. When flying on it, she cannot be knocked off, and she can call it at will.

[glow=orange]Ruyi Jingu Bang[/glow]
Compliant Golden-Hooped Rod
Anti-Unit Class
Rank B
A massive iron pillar used originally to measure the depths of the Great Flood. After Sun Wukong came to the kingdom of the Dragon King of the Eastern Sea, Ao Guang, to demand a weapon, it somehow ended up in her possession. It follows the commands of Sun Wukong, and can duplicate itself. When not in use, Sun Wukong keeps it tucked behind her ear.

Upon invoking its True Name, Sun Wukong can alter its size and increases her STR to Rank EX. As such, a strike with the giant Jingu Bang is equivalent to a Rank EX attack.

[glow=orange]Qítiaan Dàshèng[/glow]
Fivefold Immortal Monkey King
Anti-Unit Class (Self)
Rank EX
Sun Wukong's greatest strength, her five layers of invulnerable immortality. She was granted the first from the powers given to her by Taoist practices frowned upon by Heaven itself; the second from erasing her name from the books of Hell itself; the third from consuming every single one of Xi Wangmu's Peaches of Immortality; the fourth from consuming every single one of Laozi's Pills of Longevity; and the fifth from consuming every single one of the Jade Emperor's barrels of royal wine.

Unconditional and constantly active, it cannot be bypassed, and even if it is removed, the opponent still needs to deal with the other four layers. Because the layers were obtained in different ways, they have to be removed in different ways.

As this does not apply to her Master, this forces Sun Wukong into a highly unfitting role of a "vanguard" in a Holy Grail War in which her Master must survive at all costs. However, because "it's kinda like Xuanzang", she doesn't seem to mind.

True Name:
Agamede
Class: Lancer
Gender: Female ♀
Alignment: Neutral Good
~ ~ ~ ~
Personality
Selfless | Courageous | Protective
Gullible | Sensitive | High-Minded

Mythic History:
A somewhat forgotten figure in Greek history, Agamede (her original name being 'Agnodice') was named after a fabled healer in Greek mythology after saving many from the brink of death, where others couldn't. Even at an early age, Agamede showed a kindness and empathy that set her apart from most children. In a time torn by many wars and conflict between countries, her ideals of peace were seen as 'dangerous' and 'foolish'. Like most other women at the time, she was to act as a servant. But in a time where so much death occurred, she wished to do more than simple duties when she grew older.

Willing to step above the system of women in her society, Agamede secretly practiced healing methods and forms of combat whenever the chance arose. At first, people were extremely skeptical of this behavior, punishing her in various ways, but she refused to stop her practices. On the verge of being outcasted or executed for going against the will of her peers, many wounded soldiers came back from an ambush - in a time where relationships between countries were somewhat insecure - and out of the blue, Agamede stepped up, applying her practices and saving the lives of many. She saved those who were neglected and left for dead, and assisted with skill far above standard physicians, and therefore, she was not given the death penalty. For this feat, she was deemed a symbol of good fortune, and many who were diseased or wounded would come to her for 'miracle' healing, when in reality, it was just a mixture of natural affinity, good luck, and skill. This was the day she was referred to as 'Agamede'.

On one occasion, what was thought to be a losing battle was to occur for the troops of their town. They lacked courage, and were severely outnumbered, making them believe victory was impossible. People already believed the oncoming forces of evil would raze their town in the coming days. However, Agamede stepped up to accompany the soldiers, acting as their beacon of 'hope', and her presence giving the troops courage to fight against the odds. The morning of the battle was one of golden sky, where the warm wind felt surreal and pure. With Agamede on their side, the troops roared into battle, the beautiful weather seemingly empowering them to take on many. Some who fell injured found themselves helped up once more with Agamede's hand, her spear trained and used only to protect her people, proving she could fight on par with men.

Eventually, the golden wind faded, and exhausted from hard work and battle, Agamede fell to the ground, sustaining many injuries. The troops fought so hard the battle ended in a stalemate, with the few survivors from both sides of the battle agreeing to fight no longer after listening to Agamede's final words. The warm winds soon faded, and her broken, smiling corpse was returned to her hometown. Despite her efforts, she was later forgotten, with later rulers too stubborn to admit a woman on the battlefield helped to change the tide.
~ ~ ~ ~
Parameters
Strength: C
Constitution: B
Agility: C
Mana: E
Luck: C

Class Skills
Magic Resistance: B
~ ~ ~ ~
Personal Skills

Shielding Instinct: A protector and selfless at heart, Agamede's fighting spirit is to ensure the safety of her troops, or in this case, her master. When moving in to intercept projectiles with her resistant body, or if moving in to stop the approach of an enemy towards her master, she experiences a surge of adrenaline that gives a ++ boost to her agility, and her body 'attracts' to the projectiles, making it much easier than normal for her to intercept. The ++ boost will instantly fade away once there is no 'threat' to her master, meaning she can never obtain this buff in a one versus one situation. If she is operating under a master who she believes is evil, or shows signs of selfish goals that could harm others, she won't experience this surge of adrenaline, and therefore will not receive this buff.

Golden Breeze: When recently hit with enemy spells, Agamede will radiate strands of golden light that provide a soothing, regenerative effect that very slowly repairs wounds and dulls pain. People recognized as 'allies' in close proximity to Agamede (3-15m, depending on level of intensity) will be affected by this as well as herself, whilst people recognized as 'foes' will only feel a mildly soothing sensation (but no actual healing/pain dulling will occur.) Depending on the amount of spells Agamede is hit with, this effect can intensify to a point where the regeneration is still slow, but noticeable throughout the course of the battle, patching up minor wounds. When G.B. reaches a climax level, it will also add a + to Agamede and any nearby allies' Agility and Strength. As a side note, G.B. causes Agamede's hair to turn a shade of gold and grow slightly, the intensity of this depending on the G.B. intensity.

Amber Rising Strikes: Agamede, at the cost of mana, can fire off sleek, orange, fast-moving projectiles at any point in a battle from her lance. Because of her naturally low mana, firing too many of these can quickly exhaust her, and rapidly firing won't work: at best, she can only perform a rapid 'trio' of Amber Rising Strikes. These strikes deal moderate damage (that can be easily resisted with high magic resistance), but also 'illuminate' a target if they're hit if their alignment is not 'Good' in any form. The illumination causes their weaknesses to appear, adding a temporary - debuff to their Magic Resistance (if they have any), and causing spells to hone towards them somewhat. Whilst standard lance strikes can, this spell in particular can never be used to deal a fatal blow to those of a 'Good' alignment, its damage completely going to 0 if the strike would've killed them.
~ ~ ~ ~
Noble Phantasm

GOLDEN WIND ULTIMA | B RANK | BARRIER

For this Phantasm to be cast, Agamede first needs to 'absorb' a high level of magical power, whether she's been damaged by this or not. Once a high amount of magical power has been absorbed, Agamede is free to use Golden Wind Ultima. Upon casting, it expels a condensed, spherical barrier of pure translucent gold that extends outwards from her body, up to a maximum of 25m. This sphere, as it extends, harmlessly pushes away those identified as 'foes' (unless they have outstanding constitution & strength, then they can force their way through it), and the sphere will also completely negate B-Class spells or above that hit it.

Allies, who will not be pushed away by the sphere, will experience a healing surge that's powerful enough to completely mend major wounds. Those affected positively by Golden Wind Ultima will feel a renewed sense of fighting spirit, and the courage 'to win against the odds', giving them a golden aura that will partially block the effects of B-Class or below spells for a short amount of time, amplifying their movements so they feel like they flow with the wind itself. Agamede herself will be empowered by these effects as well.

GUARDIAN SPIRIT, TURNING OF TIDE | C+ RANK | ANTI-UNIT (SELF)
If an ally is in immediate danger where the next attack against them would prove fatal, Agamede can use this ability sparingly to allow her body to flicker out of existence, and flicker back to intercept this attack, no matter what, using golden light to completely embrace her target if the attack comes from various directions. Whilst intercepting this, Agamede becomes near a state of invulnerability; only attacks that have a power level an A or above NP would have will be able to do noticeable damage to her. She can't use this to save herself from a potentially lethal attack.

After blocking an attack in this manner, her defenses wear off, and she can initiate a 'Counter Flurry', where her next burst of attacks with her spear extend far longer beyond her spear's normal range, and are much faster than usual. After this burst, she returns to normal. This NP can't be used twice against the same kind of attack, in the same battle. This NP can't be used to assist anyone with an 'evil' alignment, regardless of master commands, as she will lack the will to protect them.

Yes, because Fate RPs based off PvP and power wanking has worked out so well in every other occasion.

Of course they have. No failures at all /s.

By the way, forgot to mention it before but did you make an error with your CS? His Magic Resistance is EX rank? Seems more likely to be E but...

E still implies that he has some degree of magic resist (ten times greater than a normal human), which is why I denoted it as EX to show that it was...unquantifiably bad? Negative, essentially.

Lol. I see your reasoning. Still, I think it should be represented with a "?" or "-" or "X" (as in Arcueid's Ultimate One skill) rather than EX, since EX usually implies that it's the best in its class. Rather, I can't think of an example where that wasn't the case.

@ERode
To be clear, the plus modifiers he's gained at high noon are what are being removed as he distances from noon, and not instead getting minus modifiers? I'm sure that's what you meant but... I need to be sure.
His Maiden Boons should only be a maximum + modifier if he's doing something perfectly synonymous with chivalry. Otherwise lesser things will be "half modifiers" or so.
How high up is the virtual sun situated?

@Jakers
Amber Rising Strike is "unnecessary" as a Personal Skill. Combat maneuvers can be intrinsic to her character, and do not need to be defined. Skills are reserved passive effects; boons, skills in certain fields (like Riding), or like with ERode's Gawain (Unwavering Blade), may actually detriment them.
Now the effect accompanied with this "trio strike" would be a good personal skill, but shouldn't require a particular combat maneuver to use them. Giving Agamede the passive ability to fire these bolts should be the personal skill. Note however that this will require more mana than simply fighting with the spear, and given her low Mana ranking may tire her quickly.
Golden Wind Ultima's rank of C+ indicates that its effects can be temporarily boosted to that of a B-rank noble phantasm, but I see no description that indicates how, when, or why it would get a "temporary boost". If it can block B-class things, it should just be a B-Rank noble phantasm.
Guardian Spirit, however, should have a C+ Rank, to indicate that it can temporarily defend against up to an A-Rank Noble Phantasm, but otherwise does not perform an A-Rank feat.

EX is an indicator of a deviation from the standard norm of quantification. Something that cannot be measured by a linear ranking system. In this case, conditional ranking/negative scaling/alternative effects would indeed warrant an EX ranking.
The reason many people think of EX as being "the most powerful" is because those are instances in which the power is so great that the normal scale isn't a sufficient measure.

@Asuras yeah, Sun Blessings are removal of + modifiers as he goes past noon.

Maidens' Knight is just a rank up, which is, considering his baseline stats, significantly less of a boost compared to his Blessing. The difference between multiplication and addition. And chivalry encompasses things outside of protecting maidens. He could be having a fair, honourable duel against some other cool dude, but unless he's doing it at the behest of a maiden and that cool dude is actually an asshole, he won't get any boons from Maidens' Knight.

How high do you think it should be? Personally didn't think too much about that.

Alrighty, made those changes in that case. I was a little confused about ranking NP's in particular, but I think I get how the '+' and '-'s work when dealing with phantasms now.

Was there anything else about her you wanted me to change?

@ERode : By the way, though "E still implies that he has some degree of magic resist" might be true, it's not the case for some Skills. I recalled and double checked the wiki that Jaguar Man's Mad Enhancement "normally does not receive the benefits of Mad Enhancement. In exchange, one retains a normal capacity to think." So basically it's nonexistent even though it's E rank. Maybe in the future some Servant will have E rank Magic Resistance that does nothing. #themoreyouknow

I mean it doesn't even have much to do with Magic Resistance. Hell it's even arguable that it's a new Skill altogether, since it's like the opposite of resistance. Magic Amplification would be more apt. It's like arguing Espionage or Sphere Boundary are forms of EX Presence Concealment when they perform different but similar effects. Or Eye of the Mind (False) being a form of EX Eye of the Mind (True). Or Berserk being an EX form of Bravery. You get the idea.

Pretty confident there is not many EX rank class skills which had a wholly different effect compared to its lesser ranks. EX rank skills don't differ much in the effects of the lesser ranked ones, just on a different scale (that is, A rank magic resistance confers more protection than D, A rank Presence Concealment hides one better than D rank, EX Riding allows you to ride more things than C rank, etc.)

Well I'll leave it at that.

By the way go ban Achilles or cross your fingers that someone doesn't go for him looking at you Random.

My choices here are between a horse and a chimpanzee. I'm going for the chimpanzee.

Actually posted my CS.

In great Fate tradition and totally not because it was nearly impossible to find any decent images I guess I'm making a genderflip.

Preparing some stuff for a Con coming up next weekend so I've been a little busy, but I'll have my character up this week.
