Basic Information

Welcome to what is known as the Holy Grail War. You, and six other magi like you, are chosen by the ominous
wish granting device, called the Holy Grail, to participate in a fight to the death in hopes of having your wish
turned into a reality. Once only one mage remains, the Grail is theirs and with it they are able to have their
deepest desire/wish come true.

In the Holy Grail War these seven magi (now called Masters) are each able to summon one Heroic Spirit to
become their Servant (or in nicer terms, their champion in the War). These Heroic Spirits are truly what
makes the Holy Grail War so special. Legendary heroes of old given life once more, are able to put their
skills to the test against other legends to see who truly reigns supreme.

Unbeknownst the Masters and Servants though, is that the Holy Grail itself is corrupted and feeds off of
the death and hatred created by the War. Once fully charged, the Grail will overflow leading to the
destruction of humanity itself. The only way to stop this is to destroy the Grail which would require
every Master and Servant's power to do so.

One of the two fathers of Calculus, and the father of classical mechanics that first fully described the world and its place in the cosmos. A consummate researcher and thinker who delved into many fields, including alchemy and religion.

Personality: Easy to enrage when people try to point out his virginity as an attempted insult. More interested in catching up to new science and doing research than fighting. Would very much like to confront a certain silver-haired man whose own theory of mechanics dared to usurp his own's throne. Not evil, but not a paragon of goodness. Will not indulge in immoral experiments just for the sake of progress, but likewise is willing to bend and skirt rules obstructing progress. Remains a perfectionist as he was in life. Does not take criticism too well. Hates the taste of apples, but loves their form.

Noble Phantasm:
All Matter's Chains - A passive Noble Phantasm. The pinnacle of his fame, and synonymous with his name, the absolute understanding, and thus, manipulating, of the laws of the most fundamental force to affect the world which transcends time and space (under most circumstances... certain extremes require the knowledge of a certain silver-haired man), gravity.

Manifests itself in multiple ways - the first and foremost is that due to not experiencing gravity's effect on himself, moves at a far, far greater speed than a regular Caster would, and like-wise has absolute freedom of movement (functionally, flight; in reality, this style of movement transcends such a notion). Inanimate targets can be cut-off-from/tied-back-to gravity's effects, or have the effects of gravity simply increased/decreased at will. Passively, a 2-rank penalty to AGI is induced upon any Servant within the ability's range (500 m radius) - the effect can with effort and preparation be made more drastic by adding penalties upon themselves; this is achieved by properly reciting and modifying the equations pertaining to the servant in question (the maximum possible effect is reducing a Servant's speed to E---. Humans can be made completely immobile but the procedure is far too time consuming to be used under any sort of pressure). Applying the same framework, can change the gravitic center of attraction for a given target. A Noble Phantasm not strictly considered for combat which requires unorthodox thinking in order to obtain the most efficient usage.

Item Construction - N/A. Newton was a research, not maker, of the physical, and does not possess this skill.
Territory Creation - B+++. Allows for the creation of a "Facility", superior to a standard "Workshop". While inferior to a "Temple" in general, it far exceeds one in terms of its specialized purpose: research.

Personal Skills:
Numerical Abstraction - A+. Newton, as the foremost heroic spirit to have understood the mathematical laws of the world, is capable of observing and instantaneously determining the intrinsic quantitative value of all objects and actions. For one versed in analysis and calculation, numbers are the greatest tools - what to do with them, is that person's choice.

Reinforcement - A. As a man who studied 'alchemy', his understanding of the composition of materials and their properties allows Newton to compensate for his lack of magical skill in order to apply reinforcement. Knowledge of flaws allows for correction and improvement. On-the-fly usage allows for strengthening of objects to the degree that they can strike with C-rank STR and END. Minimal preparation allows for B-rank strengthening; adequate preparation allows strengthening to A-rank. However, his lack of studying living beings means that attempting to use it on plants or animals is guaranteed to backfire unless extreme preparation is taken.

Mystic Code:
Sand of Delphi - Metal particles that at a glance look like glossy black sand with the occasional rainbow hue. Has a multitude of properties when Prana is running through it - fireproof, waterproof, selectively conductive, selectively magnetic, etc. Can be molded and coalesced into different shapes. Capable of both offense and defense. As a weapon of Atlas, Sygila can use its movement to make predictions of the future with adequate preparation. Extreme weight requires a specialized container (a cylindrical canister carried on the small of her back), and its manipulation requires under most circumstances heavy prana consumption. Viewed with contempt within Atlas because of its simplicity.

Background: A woman from a non-prominent magical family; her father was a magus information broker that worked with the Enforcers, and her mother worked in a regular business. This unique mix let her remain acquainted with non-magical technology throughout her life. Early childhood spent in a cabin in the woods with only one small city close by. Elementary school was undertaken in said small city, but with few friends and problems controlling herself, eventually got pulled out.

The family (just herself and her parents) moved to a larger city eventually, with Sygila's father showing her the basics of magecraft and handling her own. She was homeschooled throughout the years equivalent to middle school, but by the time of high school, Sygila was trained to the point that she could feasibly attend a public school without trouble. After finishing, she enrolled into Atlas, having exhibited capacity for Thought Acceleration, but being able to manage only two Thought Partitions got her rejected from any sort of relevant positions in investigation teams.

Largely ignored, and underappreciated, she holds unparalleled freedom within the academy in spite of creating a weapon worthy of Atlas. Her time in Atlas was spent doing mostly bottom-level work and reading whatever treatises she could find to learn more; from the latter, she manages to eventually develop a prediction method using a weapon she herself created - the Sand of Delphi. Unfortunately, due to the weapon's ultra simple design, and the prediction method's specificity, the recognition she got bordered on nil.

Hearing rumors of the Grail War, travels to the site, her only wish being to discover something that will give her the greatness she feels she deserves.[/spoili]

Background: According to ancient Chinese lore, the sun was a type of bird, and originally there were ten sun birds living in a tree, each taking turns on a different day to travel round the world. One day, all these pesky birds decided to do their little routine on the same day – meaning ten suns in the sky which lead to intense heat on earth. The emperor, seeing his crops fail and his people suffering, appealed to the heavens to help resolve this issue. Hou Yi was sent to answer his appeal – and being pretty nifty with the bow, he decided that he’d help the earth out by shooting down nine of the ten suns. Not only was he good with his bow – he was also smart enough to know that if he shot down the tenth sun, the world would be shrouded in darkness, so he wisely left one alive. He is also known for being a God who went and looked for his wife a pill of immortality, but realizing after he obtained the pill. If his wife took it she would become the moon that circles the earth. When he returned home she secretly took the pill opening what the Romans called Pandora's box. She became the moon, Hou yi looking and knowing that he could shoot her down to keep her there with him, But he could not bear to aim at her.

Appearance: He wears a, more formal wear then a common archer would at his time. He sports a long sleeved white cloak, with leather and metal armor padding around his right shoulder down to his arm. Below his waist he holds a rather fiery appearance of fur and silk bagged pants with tightly bound warrior sandals. He also down not hold a quiver or a bow on his person. they only appear when combat is about to begin.


Personality: He is very quiet and soft spoken. He comes off as someone who looks down on everyone but truly cares for humans since they are what allow him to be the God he is. Now he is very kind hearted which would lead him to picking fights when he sees someone being bullied or beaten. His only wish is to reunite with his wife, so if anyone comes in the way of that wish or that dream that he holds so dearly he will rest at nothing before he ends that person.

Noble Phantasm: "The Ten Suns of Legend" This is a reality marble phantasm that is the desolate land of China, the land is hot to the touch as there are 10 suns lined up rather close to the earth, and behind that is the moon. This noble phantasm is used as more of a defensive skill than most being an offensive or a boost to their powers. This does give him 9 large shots to fire one for the 9 suns that he shot down. But this is not all that his noble phantasm possesses once he a 10th shot, the area becomes darker only the extremely close moon illuminating the area, this allows him to gain increased speed and fire off more than one large projectile of fire like before, he now fires waves of small arrows of pure white light.. Since his wife is the moon, and is giving her Husband blessing.

Class Skills:
Mana supply: Archers are known for being able to hold and possess separate mana then there masters, allowing them to hold there own amount of sustain when their master falls or when they are scouting away from their masters position

Scouting: The archer class is a highly renowned scouter allowing them far sight in distances and easily sensing danger at a distance.

Personal Skills:
Quiver of the suns: This is a person skill to Hou Yi, this gives him a small portion of the sun in fire like arrows. Theses arrows are but a mere projection of his legend taking life. These arrows will burn most enemies even is just barely grazed because of the immense temperature them possess.

Lunar blessing: His senses as a scout and aim as an archer is enhanced when blessed by the moon light sky. This is only a portion of what this noble phantasm will give since the moon or well his wife is so much farther away from him then in his reality marble.

The Crows that died as suns: This is more in line with what most mage's consider as familiars. Their are 9 crows that will increase his scouting range and allow him some distractions for his foes while in battle. These crows though drain mana rather quickly from the master or the servant so they are not something he will rely on so much.

Shikigami Exertion:
a symbol of power for the Onmyouji, Shikigami are beings that are at the disposal of the master. Their powers are limited to a single-purpose curse and once the contract has been formed they will remain for as long as their master’s power does not run out.

(He holds his runes and, skiki pages wrapped up in a cigarette box, he burns them when he need there powers and when he needs a smoke)

Background: He was born and raised in a small family of mages. He was trained day in and day out being the only son of his family his father pushed him to his max. He learned his rune crafting perfecting the craft, then his father at the age of 14 pushed him to Onmyouji. Doing this allowed him to become a rather famous exorcist at a 18 leaving his family and only continuing this craft to provide for his two sisters so that they wouldn't need to take on his future position. Hear of the Next Grail war, he didn't wish to join, but his father promised him if he won. His sisters would never become mages they would live normal and happy life..

Personality

Many people imagine Van Helsing as a grouchy old man, overly serious and no-nonsense, and perhaps that really was how he came to be in his older age (long after his legendary encounter with Dracula, contrary to what people believe in this world), but in his younger days, he was as one might expect from a skilled youth. As a person who's bite actually did live up to his bark, he was like a confident youth, often sure of his abilities, but was also aware of his limitations as a mere human as well, and did everything he could to compensate in his fight against the supernatural. Of course, even at this point, he isn't exactly a "young" man anymore.

Helsing also has a soft spot for cute girls. He was never exactly a big womanizer in a real sense though, sacrificing a stable love life for the greater good of protecting humanity from monsters, but he at least goes through the trouble of quickly developing positive platonic relationships with the females he's met, such as Mina Harker and Lucy Westenra. Another reason why he refrains from openly advancing upon women is because, even in the scenario in which he'd be able to lay with whoever he wanted, it was his belief that a woman's virginity, her purity and the most precious thing one could have (after all, he is from the 1800s), was one of the most powerful shields one could have against a lustful vampire or any other beast, and he felt that if he were to take such a thing, he would paint a rather large target on their backs. In short, he is capable of being quite flirty with girls, but never actually able to advance any further.

To this end, despite his cool demeanor, cool-headed attitude, and confident exterior, Abraham can be surprisingly avoidant and distant from others when it comes to deeper, more meaningful relationships, and one could even speculate it is something he fears more than the monsters he fights.

Though many would consider him a good man for his services in the name of humanity, his "goodness" is of the chaotic kind. He has little regard for the law of man, and abides moreso by his own law. Thus, he has no problem breaking the law in order to accomplish his objectives, and beyond what some would perceive to be brash recklessness, he does put the safety of others before his own, and has a short temper when it comes to monsters who would commit crimes against humanity. An ultimately selfless man, he is more focused on helping his Master attain the Holy Grail rather than take it for his own benefit, but if it were to end up in his hands, his wish that he would have it fulfill would simply be to allow himself to live a normal life. He is not picky about what sort of normal, halcyon life he'd live, whether it be as the godfather of the Harkers' child, or as the loving husband and father that he never had the chance to be.

His favorite food is garlic. Just raw garlic.

An unsung genius of his time, Abraham Van Helsing was a prodigy from the moment he was born, and by the time he had become a grown man, was already an accomplished doctor, lawyer, scientist, and even a university professor. Of course, he had learned all these skills more out of necessity than anything, as they were all necessary in learning of how to defeat evil in his true occupation as an Executioner of the Holy Church. Any who would have seen the practice of such science would have called it "fighting evil with evil," but Abraham and his family had always believed that science and innovation, rather than witchcraft, were the results of one of God's greatest gifts upon man; intelligence. The capacity to learn and innovate. He used his connections from his many jobs to seek out the creatures of the night, between malicious vampires, werewolves, and ghouls, the most famous of them by far being Dracula.

By technical law, he was married all through his adult life, but his wife had gone insane after their infant son died at the hands of a monster. Because of his religious beliefs, he refused to divorce her, and from time to time, visited her in the asylum until her death much later in both of their lives.

Class Skills

Presence Concealment - C+. Hides one's presence as a Servant. Suitable for spying. The rank of presence concealment drops considerably when preparing to attack. As a mere mortal who specialized in killing monsters he could never hope to defeat in a straight up fight, even barely so with proper equipment, Abraham got used to striking from the very same shadows that the monsters dwelt within, such as vampires and werewolves.

Personal Skills

Deliverance - C. As a so-called agent of God, Van Helsing's mere presence is able to weaken any creature, be them Heroic Spirits or other familiars, among others, of the Evil alignment, to a degree. More than that, his attacks toward them are more effective. Passive skill.

Projectile
- A. While there has been debate about the legend of Van Helsing and how he had killed Dracula (whether he had thrown a wooden stake into his heart, or if he threw knives / daggers, or if he was even the one who killed Dracula at all), the Heroic Spirit known as Van Helsing is certainly an adept projectile user. Van Helsing is able to use any sort of blade he can get his hands on as projectiles and use them not only with exceptional skill, but also with great strength. He can also use long weapons like spears and javelins, but his skill is not as potent, considering he was summoned as an Assassin rather than a Lancer. If there is a need for extra firepower, he can call upon his two revolvers, though he sees these as more of the next best thing to a trump card. These revolvers do not use real ammunition, but rather, concentrated mana, and he can only fire one powerful shot per revolver before his power must cool off for a few hours. Active skill.

Projection Magic - C+. A magecraft that reproduces tools for a few minutes by means of images. As a member of the Holy Church in his life, and even as a decently accomplished mage unbeknownst to many, Abraham is knowledgeable on the workings of projection magecraft, and he uses it often to supply himself with blades to throw, working in conjunction with his Projectile skill. As an Executioner, his preferred weapons of choice are Black Keys, and though they are as long as swords, they are used more often for throwing. Due to the imperfect nature of his projection (due to his skill, or rather, lack thereof), the Black Keys he projects are fragile, and most effective when thrown. However, they can be used as physical weapons, like a real sword, but they are fragile enough that even swinging and hitting it against something will cause it to shatter. To this end, the Black Keys he projects are like glass cannons. Black Keys are the one exception to the rule that Abraham is less proficient with longer weapons, and ironically is his best weapon. Active skill.

Noble Phantasm

Oak of the Lord - Anti-Unit, A+. Van Helsing uses his most identifiable weapon, a deceivingly benign-looking wooden stake. Though it is debated on whether or not he ever did kill Dracula with a wooden stake (or if he personally even killed Dracula at all), the legend and belief has become widespread enough that the item had practically become synonymous with him. The stake is carved from oak wood, believed back then to have had magical properties due to its recurring presence in the Bible. While the stake might not look all that impressive initially, it is indeed Van Helsing's most powerful weapon for a reason. It can be used as a hand-blade or a projectile, but the primary constant is that, said to be blessed by the power of God himself, it is an exceedingly powerful artifact able to penetrate through any barrier and inflict great damage on individuals. If the targeted individual is of the Evil alignment, then the damage is nigh-permanent, unable to be healed, unless the wooden stake is destroyed, in which case Helsing must re-project it, which costs much magical energy, and even then, the damage for the afflicted Evil party will heal no matter how quickly his Noble Phantasm is repaired.

Because it is said to be blessed by God himself, it can also be said that the wooden stake is a Divine Construct. When wielding the stake, Van Helsing is able to perform feats similar to those who possess Mystic Eyes of Life, in which while he is able to destroy any defense or other structures (abstract or not) conjured by his enemy, he can only maim the actual target individual at most unless the target is of the Evil alignment or he manages to stab the stake directly into the target's heart without miss.

Personality

Mina is a gregarious and magnanimous individual, comparable to a mother by some. She cares for the well-being of others, even those she doesn't know, and can be seen as a pacifist by some. The irony is not lost upon Mina about her stance on violence, given her participation in the Holy Grail War, and while she does have a sense of self-preservation as much as any other human being, she is reluctant to participate at all despite not having any choice, having become a Master by accident, only having inadvertently come across (or having always possessed) a catalyst to a Heroic Spirit for the war. She doesn't have a concrete clue on what her wish would be, so in the event that she'd win, she would likely simply let her Servant have the wish, provided it is not one of evil.

However, with this passion comes gullibility, as Mina is quite easy to trick as a result of her big heart and purity. In this regard, she is almost like a child, seen as overly naive and trusting. She holds life in great value, but knows that as a human, it is her instinct to live, practically trapping her in a lose-lose situation.

She prefers being indoors to being outdoors, at least during the day, explaining her pale skin. Her favorite food is tomato.

Mina was born to a low-ranked mage family with relatively unremarkable Magic Circuits, in terms of both quality and quantity. Born to a Japanese father and a German mother, she currently lives as a student at the Clock Tower, the headquarters of the Mage's Association. She is an exceptional student, studious and eager, but it is her lack of any natural magical talent that prevents her from sticking out notably. Like most raised in mage households, she is not well-versed or overly familiar with modern technology, having only recently beginning to use a smartphone for one.

Perhaps the most remarkable thing about Mina is the one thing that no one outside of her family knows; Mina descends from a lineage of vampires, or rather, "oni." Though this is largely absent now, her blood mostly consisting of human, there are still traces of it present within her.

Healing magecraft - Self-explanatory. If there is any sort of magecraft that one could say Mina specializes in, it is healing. Naturally, it has its limits, able to heal small wounds such as cuts and bruises with ease, but struggles with more grievous wounds. Because of her aforementioned lack of high-quality Magic Circuits, at most, she can normally heal wounds just shy of near-fatal, if only in a haphazard manner.

Life Transfusion - If worst comes to worst, Mina is able to "transfer" a part of her own life force (in the form of pure, inherent mana) in others, or even vice versa and drain it from others, in the rare occasion she may feel inclined to. Water Barrier: A thick wave of water appears before the intended target for protection. It does not stop the projectile entirely (unless it's already slow or a fire ball), but it significantly slows its movement to make it a lot easier to dodge or hurt less upon impact.

Ocean's Wave: A wave of water to distract or knock down the opponent. Not meant to kill, but repeated use on the same person will cause drowning.

Personality:

A young lady of modesty and politeness to the point that she comes across as a push over. She has trouble expressing herself emotionally, but is still capable of smiles to express happiness and furrowed eyebrows for anger and sadness. Sumiko has tried working on this problem, but cannot figure out why.

Background:


Sumiko was born to a low standing family, becoming a second generation mage. She appeared to be born with a lack of emotions, seemingly capable of just smiling or furrowing her eyebrows. But with her mother's insistence, she decided not to worry about it since it was not physically or mentally hurting her. She did not expect anything "exciting" to occur in her life, but that changed when the Holy Grail chose her to be a Master. Much to the shock of her family.

Tomoe Gozen was a female swordswoman and archer present in the 12th century feudal Japan. She was, as written by historians, "a warrior worth a thousand" when it came to swordsmanship. A student to Minamoto no Yoshinaka as well as his concubine, Tomoe did not expect to be taught the ways of the Samurai. However, through self discipline and diligence, she was able to become one of the strongest female samurai in Japan. She was often sent into battles and war as Minamoto's first captain. But upon his death, with soldiers wearing thin, she was forced to flee because he said it would be a dishonor if he died with a woman. Whether she escaped or died still remains a mystery.

The title of ‘Undefeated Commander’, or words to that effect, has been bestowed upon many a martial genius throughout myth and history, conjuring images of immovable warriors of Adonis-like structure and of near godly disposition. Yi Sun-Sin stands in stark contrast to this, a mild-mannered and soft-spoken sort, delicate in his ways, and preferring sophistication to the base gruesomeness of war.

That is, of course, not to say that the Undefeated Commander dislikes war and the idea of it. Yi Sun-Sin is a brilliant strategist and tactician, and this informs much of his world-view. Deliberate and contemplative, he approaches matters in life like rehearsed dance steps, preaching impeccability and precision in all things. The modern cliche of there being nothing “like a plan that comes together” is a tenet Yi adheres to.

Yet for all his startling intellect, Yi Sun-Sin is also possessed of an innocent naivete concerning the thoughts of vile men. Betrayed and framed by others that were jealous of his military talents, Yi Sun-Sin - even now - finds himself unable to truly hate his enemies. Decisive in crucial battles, yet lacking a killer instinct or willingness to take the initiative to attack. Yi Sun-Sin favored beautiful, immaculate victories - and needless bloodshed could never be either of those.

Background:

A young noble and a prodigy, who from a young age excelled in war games and demonstrated a talent for leadership, Yi Sun-Sin’s career nonetheless did not ascend like the typical brilliant luminary. Instead, he had failed his first military exam, having suffered a broken leg during the cavalry examination. By the time his hard work and diligence earned him his military berth, he had become an older man, no longer a prodigy.

Yet still, through talent and perseverance, he demonstrated his remarkable capacity for tactics and stratagems overcoming bandits and marauders, and eventually his most famed series of defenses against Japanese attackers. Yet this earned him more enemies than admirers, for the Joseon political environment was full of maneuvering and backstabbing. King Seonjo, in particular, feared the reputation the Yi Sun-Sin - who eventually became Admiral - had gained, seeing it as the foundations for revolt.

Perhaps the most tragic example of this was following a plot by the Japanese, in which false orders by spies were delivered to Generals, who in turn delivered them to the Admiral. Yi Sun-Sin refused to obey them, having seen through the deception, and for his troubles, was relieved of command, imprisoned and subject to hideous torture. King Seonjo had wished for his execution, but settled for demoting him to a mere infantry soldier, a startling insult to his honor.

Yet Yi Sun-Sin remained loyal, eventually regaining his position in a time of great need. During his final battle against the Japanese, he attained victory, yet was felled by a stray bullet, unable to witness his greatest triumph.

Noble Phantasm:

Geobukseon: The Dragon and Turtle that Defends the Land (A+ Rank, Anti-Army)

One of Admiral Yi’s greatest naval accomplishments was the design of the Geobukseon, the Turtle Ship. Known in history as the world’s first armored vessel, it derives its name from its large protective shell. It is also noted for its vast number of cannons, iron spikes, and dragon-shaped head at the bow, capable of spewing fire and setting other ships alight.

As a symbol of Admiral Yi’s odds-defying defense against a much larger Japanese force, the turtle ship is viewed by many in history as sharing the same defensive vigor and fury as a dragon guarding its hoard. As a Noble Phantasm then, the Geobukseon Yi Sun-Sin summons into battle is gargantuan, spewing fire as if a mythological dragon, and with the capacity of taking to both land and air, although its mobility is severely hampered outside of water. Still, as per its namesake, its greatest strength is its defensive nature, able to repel numerous high-class attacks.

Personality: A callous, pragmatic individual - Katsuchika Togo is a man driven entirely by his wants and needs. As it happens, he tends to believe he needs a lot; money, for example, to maintain his lavish lifestyle. While unwilling to perform evil for the sake of evil, he’s nonetheless willing to resort to heinous depths if it will substantially increase his fortunes.

Socially, Togo is fairly personable, hiding his greedy, self-oriented motivations. A charming individual, a near-sociopath who’s long since mastered the ability of appearing amicable and agreeable.

Personal Wish: Wealth everlasting.

Skills: Togo’s primary offensive spell is a curse that requires the drawing of his own blood, which can then be flicked outwards like a fiery bullet as it bursts into flames upon coming in contact with the air. Generally, however, Togo lacks the conviction and desire to draw his own blood, and will avoid whenever possible.

Furthermore, Togo carries a baton that has a rune of Ehwaz (hardening) inscribed upon it, allowing it the power to dash a person’s skull with one good blow.

Background: A talented Magus, from a family of Mages that all dwarfed him in talent, Togo nonetheless found that he had the capacity to surpass them - if not in magic, then in life in general - due to a trait of his that his family did not share; an overwhelming desire to better his own station in life. This was perhaps most encapsulated by the fact that while his family was gifted, their reputations and stature in the magical world steadily diminished due to their lack of ambition and desire for grand achievements, while Togo himself found many a calling throughout the world.

One such calling, then, was the Grail War, which the Katsuchika family firmly encouraged him to join, as perhaps an antidote to their perpetual years of mediocrity.

Once upon a time, there was six daughters of Poseidon. Superstitious seamen called them sirens who lured men into the sea to drown them. While romantic paintings portrayed them as beautiful woman and men of the sea, known as mermen and mermaids. They were said to live in a kingdom hidden from men long ago, many would come to known this kingdom as Atlantis.


All of Poseidon's’ daughters were obedient young ladies. Princesses to his throne in Atlantis, one day one of them would rise up and rule Atlantis when the sea called to them. All of Poseidon’s daughters were obedient, but one.


Meredith was said to not be the most beautiful of the daughters, but she was the one with most freedom and independence. She had a curious mind, leaving the safety of Atlantis to feed her appetite for knowledge. She became fascinated with the surface world above the deep ocean she lived. The closest she got to the surface were the discarded remains of shipwrecks.


All of the things they left behind only ignited Meredtih’s own curiosity about the surface world. It started with her returning the things lost to the Humans in the surface world onto their beaches. It then turned to curiosity watching them leave their docks, watching pirates and soldiers alike do busy task on the decks of their ships.


Her sisters noticed her lengthy absences when she thought she could get away and was confronted by them. They begged and pleaded her to stop these silly acts. That her own curiosity would be her downfall, but Meredith did not listen. Her curious, and hunger for knowledge and understanding that which she did not grew into a desire to one day walk the surface.


She fled the heated argument to take pleasure in human delights once again. Cross with her sisters at the time, thinking such thoughts that she’d never come back to Atlantis.


She was drawn to a boat, it had a lot of lights that glimmered on the surface of the ocean, reflecting like starlight veils the surface world. Curious and swimming up to the surface, she noticed it was some kind of celebration she had not seen. Soldiers tried to entertain themselves. Pirates sang sea shanties. But this seemed to be in honor of someone.


That honor would be in the name of Wilhelm. A Marque of an estate on the surface world. It was infatuation at first sight. When she laid her eyes upon a man so beautiful only the surface could have created such a beautiful charming man, she immediately felt something stir in her heart. Her heart for the first time began to beat. And she felt warmth inside of her she had not felt before.


She yearned for him.


Though her attraction may have been short lived when a sea storm brew. The waves went from calm to violent. The skies that were once clear, turned black with clouds, as violent lighting bathed the sky in white. The helmsman tried to direct the boat out of the storm. But the waves took the boat underneath the waves. In that moment she felt concern for another individual.


Without thinking she did not consider Poseidon’s warning, not of words, but of the events he could cause. She swam into the depths after Wilhelm. Saving him from drowning, she prop him unto the beach. She watched him till he came. They shared a look. All though all he could utter was a breathy and weak, Thank you.


Fleeing back to Atlantis, her sisters implored her not to seek the human world. To stay in Atlantis with them. It dawned on her the storm was caused by her father who was furious with her for seeking the human world. Her sisters told him or prayed to him, worried for her and her obsessive habit. Recognizing the man she loved in one night could die. She vowed to stay away from the surface.


Which seem to calm the sea. She spent four days and nights away from the surface world. But could not get the man out of her mind.


On the surface Wilhelm became obsessed with the sea. In search of what he knew had happened that night. To find the woman who saved him. He sat on every port side for several hours, every beach side. When he lost hope and was about to give up, she emerged one day at the port side. They exchanged a few words and agreed to meet where the sea and the river converges. In hopes to flee Poseidon’s wrath.


The young couple quickly became fascinated with each other. They talked for many hours, many days, and slowly began to develop a love and understanding for each other. Wilhelm was more understanding than she ever thought he could be. But she would never be able to be with him for as long as she was a mermaid.


She sought her aunt's advice, Aphrodite. Who had always been sort of a matchmaker. If you love him, then what’s stopping young love from forming. But I warn you my dear, you must truly love him to become a human woman. For as a woman of the sea, you were not given a soul.


It was the first time Meredith had ever heard of the fact that she did not have a soul. Would Wilhelm love her if he knew she did not have a soul? What if he believed in the tales of woman like her dragging them into the sea and eating them?


That night she met with Wilhelm in the spot they always met. He could tell she was sad. He asked her what was wrong. At first she was reluctant to say. But he pressed her, her love and trust of him, she confided him the things Aphrodite told him.


Do you love me? Wilhelm asked her.


Yes. I feel alive when you around.


Then let us test this theory. Are you ready to leave the sea?


Yes. I never want to be bound by my father again.


Then take my hand.


She took his hand and he lifted her from the waters. Her fins immediately became legs and she felt warmth in her body she had never felt before. She was human. With a human soul. Wilhelm took her into his family estate. He lived extravagantly, though it was not any of his desire. They shared poetry, literature, he pampered her in beautiful clothing.


She could live like this forever with him. Then one day was something different. Several months had passed and they had gotten to know each other within a year. But she knew deep down she loved him. She collapsed. She had taken to illness. The doctors suspected that Meredith would not make it another month.


One night, lying weak in bed, and dying. She prayed to Aphrodite. Aphrodite came to her in her dreams. She was told the only way she could live was if she married Wilhelm. Her human soul was not complete. Till she understood the true meaning of love.


Retelling this information to Wilhelm the next day. Wilhelm had his people plan the wedding as quickly as they could. Ignoring his own mother and father’s concerns that he was rushing these things. Considering Meredith did not come from any known gentry.


Wilhelm did not care, his heart was for Meredith. The woman who saved him. Who gave him insight to the mysteries of the sea. Who he spent half a year conversing with, was the woman he wanted to marry and carry the rest of his life with.


Weeks later. Meredith at the cusp of her life, weak, and bedridden, and barely could stand. Was leaning on a bridesmaid shoulder, walking down an island. Wilhelm belonged to a trading merchant family, so it only seemed fitting the wedding was on a boat, on a port. A carpet lay out from the docking port, to walk up the boat ramp.


Onto an elaborately decorated deck of the ship. Meredith swelled with happiness. She had forgotten her life in the sea. And being on the surface had sheltered her from Poseidon’s watch. Till she stepped onto the boat. A sudden storm struck like the first time she fell in love. Poseidon’s wrath was violent. She had betrayed him, the sea, went behind his back striking conversations with Aphrodite.


He would not allow her to marry a surface man. He would not allow her to leave the sea. Her days of hiding from him were over. Her heart was still of the sea and Poseidon dragged her back into the sea. Cursing her to be a mermaid for the eternity and changing her into the body of a man instead in hopes her heart would not be persuaded by men on the surface again.


Meredith no longer had a soul, he could no longer die, and to make sure he never left the sea he became the King of Atlantis. Binding him to duty and servitude in order to repay Poseidon of his betrayal. As commander of the sea for many years, he used his power to ask the sea creatures he now commanded to ask them of the fate of Wilhelm.


They told him of a fate of a disease that spread to many humans. Wilhelm died in his late twenties of tuberculosis. When news of Wihelm’s death came to him. It was the final fate that destroyed Meredith’s heart from heart break and it no longer beated the way it did when he was human.

Meredith the Cursed King of Atlantis

Appearance:

His hair is like sea foam, white and cloudy, it blows in an invisible wind. Though he cannot stand as a human might, his tail expands out at 5ft in length and is actually quite powerful for swimming or perhaps throwing off his sea made enemies with a powerful splash of water. At 5'6", 167 cm, he may seem quite small for a merman, but that does not mean to underestimate the battle scarred King of Atlantis. As a servant when on land, he is seen as floating on top of a cloud made of sea foam.

Personality:

Despite a hard life Meredith is not one to turn to melancholy and bitterness. He rather not let the events in his life bind him and determined who he is. Meredith has always been strong willed and independent enough to not let himself follow others in the way he should think.

It’s one of the qualities that best defines him, his defiant independence to be who he determines to be. He believes that he should take all the things in his life and make himself better off it then to wallow in it and be shackled down by it. Though that being his strongest defying feature he has many others to admire as well.

Even to this day he has kept a spot of his curiosity that had lead him astray a long time ago, but he does not see it as a weakness. He simply has learned to curb his appetite, to a point, to know everything. But he does not care for ignorance, he does not like a person who isn’t learned in some way or someone who will not curiously explore.

Capable of listening to his gut instinct, he has a keen sense of danger or when someone opposes others in a threatening manner. He’s also a pretty good read of people, whether or not they are lying or trying to lead others for malicious reasons.

While a King of Atlantis and once part of the human gentry, which gives him an elegance and grace to his personality. It’s what gives him his gentleness he is no hero of history. Thus he does not revel in the thrill of battle. He desires to protect those he can, but he does not glorify battle nor finds any satisfaction in battle. He will fight if he has to. Otherwise he does not go to seek the harm of others in any malicious way.

He can be quite stubborn when he believes he is right and it is hard to change his mind when he has decided he is right. He also has a habit of lording his knowledge over those he has deemed inferior to his intellect about things. Though he knows when to back down when someone is actually smarter than him.

Prideful, free spirited, and chooses his own path. Good luck trying to hold him down or try to make him think like you. Meredith does not listen to control and will refuse to work for anyone who tries to control him in any manner. You are either equals or you can do what you want without his help.

Tail Slap C - His trident is not his only weapon. While his white scaled tail is beautiful and shimmers in water depths, it should not be discounted as a weapon. In some circumstances he can use his tail to slap people away, slap water on the surface to create a powerful wave as a distraction or evasion tactic.

Sea Foam Creation D - Meredith has the ability to create a sticky sea foam. It is what he does to create himself a light cloud he can slightly hover over the ground. But it can also be used to slow down others by throwing the sticky foam where they walk, as their foot lands. It’s not a hundred percent the best tactic in the world though. And it isn’t guaranteed his foam consistency would actually be able to do that.

Animal Logic C - He may be a mermen, but he understands the hearts of all animals no matter where they came from. Whether from the sea or your backyard, Meredith can speak to them. Or at least understand them in some way a human could not. No animal is alike, and thus Meredith does not speak their will or to them with actual words. But the languages they understand through mere connection with them being a part of the same spiritual world as them.

Noble Phantasm - C - Sea’s Tears


Tridents are the symbol of a Merman or Mermaid’s reign over the sea. It is the sign to their heraldry as a Lord or Lady to the sea. The name of the trident is a representation of what the Lord or Lady cherishes. In this case the Cursed King cherished the love he shared with Wilhelm, when Wilhelm passed the sea weeped.


The Sea’s Tears offers a variety of offensive capabilities. Its strength is being wielded in offensive mannerisms. It can be thrown as a javelin towards it enemy and when it does, it sinks in deep, with cutting wounds that tear through armor and cause bleeding damage. It has several capabilities of being used as a foci or rod of magicka. Such as being able to shoot arcs of lightning from its tip. Or to be point at any body of water and creating tornadoes or twisters of water that seem to take on a life of its own as it rips through the combat zone sweeping everything in its way and hurling it several feet in any direction.

Background: Surely you've heard the stories of Red Riding Hood and the big bad wolf? Well, this isn't that Red. This particular Red is from the few stories in which she is the wolf.

One night, a night of the full moon, she was sent to bring her granny some pastries, she traveled through the woods. On her way, she strayed from the path to pick some flowers. In a nearby pond she saw a wolf. The wolf advised her to be cautious, there are dangerous creatures in the woods that night. She moved back to the path to grannies. Later, noticing she was growing hungry, she stopped to rest and eat one of the pastries, surely granny wouldn't have minded. Nearby she saw the wolf again, who asked if she would share the pastries. She finished her break, and no longer feeling hungry set off again, the wolf telling her one more time to be cautious because there were dangerous creatures out that night.

Finally arriving at grannies, she went in and gave the basket to her granny, who asked why it was empty, with a rather shocked look on her face. Red explained what had happened, and how she had grown hungry and shared with the wolf, while recalling the scene, she noticed she couldn't actually describe the wolf, and that she was once more growing hungry. Granny was watching her with a fearful face, she sure did look tasty, what a weird thought. Moments later a scream could be heard, and Granny was no more.

Red looked into a mirror, realizing what the wolf had been telling her, there was a dangerous creature in the woods that night because she was the wolf. Though she didn't have long to think over this revelation, as a lumberjack that was working in the woods not far off had heard Granny's screams and came to investigate, armed with an axe. What he was greeted with was not a girl, but a monster, a wolf in sheep's clothing. The lumberjack didn't last long, though both the remains of Granny and the Lumberjack were found, Red was never found.

If she is commanded to fight, she will charge in headfirst, not only will she not think of strategy, but she will ignore any strategy given to her by the master, unless forced by a command seal. While she already has a lack of logic, mad enhancements only furthers this, though it has a slightly different effect, enhancing her primal instincts. Primarily the instincts to hunt and protect.

Akai Okami - Red's Noble Phantasm is simply called 'Red Wolf'. It changes the way her mind works, as well as how Mad Enhancements effects her. Her mind is feral, she doesn't use weapons, merely tearing into her opponents with claws and teeth. Her claws, and teeth, as a result are hard enough to take a hit, and she can block any attack with a stat of C-Class or lower(D when not mad enhanced). Her noble phantasm gives her a bloodlust, a need to hunt, that must be satisfied. When her feral needs are kept up with, her mind seems to be less feral than usual, even able to counter the effect of mad enhancement to a degree, allowing her to communicate with her master.

Mad Enhancements (C)- The Class Skill that characterizes Berserker, it reinforces ability at the cost of reason. Having killed both her grandmother and a lumberjack in such a feral fashion, adapting to the mad enhanced state of the berserker class is easy for her.



Personal Skills:
Feral Hunter - Escaping, or even hiding from Red might prove a difficult task, as her sense of smell is enhanced to be able to pick up the faintest of scents, and follow it for miles. This doesn't help her find an Assassin, unless their concealment is below D level.

Beast Claws - Not possessing a weapon, an enemy might think her an easy opponent. However, when in combat her claws rend like razors, and since she swings rather erratically she can keep even the strongest on the defensive.

Background: Reiko wasn't born to a well known mage family, in fact neither of her parent's were mages. However, her grandfather was, and everyday after school he taught her everything he knew, hoping the families mage background would continue on. She excelled at her studies, and when she and her grandfather heard of the holy grail war, he encouraged her to join hoping if she won it would gain their family some recognition within the magecraft community.

    The Seventh Angel who sounds the Seventh Trumpet of the Apocalypse, this ultimate trump card allows the user to call forth the prior trumpet bearers and sound them one by one. By sounding each trumpet the cataclysmic event that is associated with each sound is triggered. Once all six trumpets have been blown, the Seventh trumpet sounds, thus bringing forth the final storm.

Appearance:

They will say things like he inherited the raven’s beauty, with jet black hair, and gray eyes that shine like steel when the light hits them. A white skin tone, with a light pink to his skin tone. He chooses to wear, even in combat, light clothing and often suits, with his black trench coat seen in the picture and a pair of fingerless gloves. He does not see the need to go all out on the flashiness and extravagance others may make it out to seem.


He stands at 5’9” or 175 cms, and weighs 125 lbs. He has pensive facial features, which are slim and narrow, giving him a shifty or cunning sort of expression to his resting face.

Personality:


Educated, but shy Aloise has never done well in large groups of people. They make him feel out of his comfort zone and it might have to do with the fact that he grew up somewhat sheltered. With few people to speak to. Those few people being his teachers or his siblings or kids at family functions. Despite his uncomfortable, nervousness in large crowds, Aloise is cordial, and respectful.


He’s never been known to insult someone. Or call them a name they didn’t deserve or deserved. It could be said Aloise did everything right, at every turn, only to be shunned from the family. It didn’t seem to bother Aloise, he got along just fine with kids his age interested in hearing what he had to say or the vivid stories he could tell about his textbooks.


Aloise lived in his books, and none knew how. He had never been one to choose fairy tales and folklore. But stuffy textbooks, that inspired little to the imagination at least that is what some claimed. But Aloise was always inspired and imaginative about history. It was what he learned from, took many of his lessons from. Even drew inspirations from as a clever wordsmith.


Family has always been an important quality in Aloise life. After all he spent many of his years being home studied with his brother and sisters. Aloise would throw his life out for any one of them, even the ones that shunned him away like he were a pest that squeezed into existence from a mouse hole.


Though Aloise should never be taken for granted. He has fought back in the play yard. He seems to bare much of the Nightcages’ family inner darkness as the rest of them. Uncles before him go secretly mad. His father became power hungry. His brother seemed to be following into the very same footsteps. The favored sister becoming narcissistic and selfish.


And him. The inability to control his temper when someone hits the right buttons. As a boy he had little control of his temper. Years of social training on how to be the perfect human on puppet strings crafted by family books of etiquette made it hard to understand why certain things made him angry, whenever he was bullied by the other kids.


As he aged, he has been able to lengthen his fuse. But still has little control in the ways when his temper is flared.


He likes his peace and solidarity, books and paintings were always where his passions and hobbies were buried. He has a distaste for certain types of music if they sound weird to him. Prefers savory and spicy over sweet. Likes strong coffee.


Desired Wish: To Destroy the Holy Grail so this War May Never Happen Again

Glittering Flares - Baths the target in glittering shards of light, that act like reflective shards of glass. They break the target bathed in the glittering shards image up, makes them pixelated. This pixelation can be used in many ways, making it harder to detect their next move, making it harder for them to find them if hidden. This is not a permanent spell and requires a bit of focus from Aloise. The flares only last up to a single minute, but that single minute could be the difference between a disadvantage and an advantage.


Light Coating - This spells seems to do no more than bath the target in a shimmering glow, seen in silvering light that pulses. When an individual bathed in this light coating they may absorb a single blow from the enemy before the spell erupts into a burst of light that blinds the arena for a second. This spell is imperfected and Aloise hasn’t quite mastered this utility. He seems to only be able to cast this spell one time perfectly.

The Nightcage family was once a renowned family in Montepellier. It is said their influence spread throughout French politics. Everyone wanted a magic caster or a sorcerer on their side of politics and the Nightcages were more than willing to throw their services into the pot. When the age of magic and politics began to die, so did the Nightcages family influence. Their name seemed to die out when spoken among other magical communities.

It did not help it was rumored the Nightcage family were cursed or doomed with madness in their blood. Every leader of the Nightcage family or every son or daughter of the leader of the family was said to believe to turn to madness. Schizophrenic, dementia, power hungry, and the list went on. The family never seem to produce a proper heir.

And when the family could no longer profit off of shady deals by using their magic to aid the normal, the family had to find a way to bounce back. In the roaring 20s they found that direction, in owning several expensive hotels for the elite and a few casinos. It seemed a name once powerful in the medieval ages up to the enlightenment, once renowned for their magic, was now known for seedy hotels, and expensive casinos.

But even with that said, the Nightcage never lost their touch with magic. Always secretly teaching their children they saw as perfect heirs, the skills they needed to become powerful magic casters. It was this current turn of the century that the Nightcage family began to take on a new turn.

When Lucius Nightcage became the next heir of the family, he was already showing the signs of the madness that slowly bleeds into the family's bloodline, he became obsessive of the Holy Grail War. He believed if the Nightcage family were to win this war, they could wish for the family to revive its glory days.

His first daughter Beatrice was born November 21st. She was gifted with magic stronger than the other children in the family. She was suspected to be the next heir, if not for Lucius’ wife Roseline giving birth to another child a year n half later. His son Victor born February 28th. Two years later his second Aloise was born May 27th. And his daughter ,a year later, Jezebel born June 11th.

Despite it suspected that Beatrice would become the heir, and her with that expectation at a young age. Jezebel became the favored daughter and was getting the preferred treatment that required. Jezebel was taught over the years to someday summon a servant for the next Holy Grail War. While Aloise and his siblings were cast aside.

It is said Aloise could have been the favored child, if not for his condition. Born partially deaf, Aloise grew up hearing the world through odd murmurs and vibrations. He could hear spells, hear people speak, but not well enough for his father to care much about him becoming a family heir. A defect to Lucius was the sign of an imperfect heir.

Beatrice grew jealous of Jezebel. Victor tried to stay out of it, he was often the one who Aloise studied and played with .

But it was Aloise defect that made others bully him. His father own distaste for him seemed to make this an okay thing to do. Always being picked last in any of the kids games. Being talked down to like he was slow or wasn’t mentally incapable of understanding language. It was James, his cousin, who took it too far one day and got in Aloise face. Having enough of it, he punched James in the face.

It was talked about among his cousins and his brothers and sisters for months. And in those months he was heavily grounded. Yes it seemed Aloise would never been chosen for anything relating to the family or anything that made him relevant at least in their eyes.

Jezebel grew more narcissistic with her own self image. Beatrice more jealous of Jezebel everyday . Aloise kept to himself, especially after a few incidents where he let his temper flare. Victor stuck close to him. Them like peas in a pod. Victor struggling with how he fit into the family dynamics.

It is said. The day before the ritual. Beatrice out of jealousy killed Jezebel, though no one really has the proof to say it was Beatrice who pushed her down second floor balcony overlooking the first floor. Some say Jezebel could not take the pressure or stress. Said her mind was wandering as all Nightcage’s minds seem to do.

Their father Lucius own power hungry desires did not seem swayed by the lost of his daughter. And instead he called the three remaining siblings to determine which of the three of them would continue the ritual. They argued quite a bit. Victor and Aloise begging their father to let go.

Beatrice goading their father on. As she finally saw her time to rise as she was promised when she was a young girl.

There we given a choice. Let Beatrice do the ritual. Or impress their father through skill to be the one to complete the ritual. Victor chickened out. Thinking it too crazy. Aloise only agreed driven to stop this madness. It was out of this conflict the desire to break this cycle was born. More educated, spending more time with the books, practicing his spell use, while Beatrice spent most of her time letting jealousy brew. Aloise won from experience. An inexperienced experience, but experience nonetheless. And his father agreed to allow him to do the ritual.

Other Information:

Told in the backstory, but Aloise was born partially deaf. He can hear words, and certain sounds. But he cannot hear others. It is best explained like when you are underwater. Everything is a little muddy when Aloise hears it. He cannot hear certain music, only hearing them as scratchy vibration, this his distaste for certain types of music. He cannot hear people whispering, or if he does hear them whispering he cannot make out many words. Soft noises are completely inaudible to him. And he may have trouble hearing in large crowded areas.

    Rider summons a deathly fog to swamp the battle field. Anyone who comes in contact with this fog, is plagued with great fatigue as Pestilence absorbs their energy. Careful, if one stays in this fog for too long death will occur. The fog's victims are also experience, fatigue, trouble breathing, burning skin, irritation, occasional diarrhea, occasional vomiting, and whatever else is typically caused by the worst illness ever.
