Expect The Unexpected

Heather wandered with him through the market, smiling at all the stands and vendors. It was such a lovely little place really, nothing like the markets in New York. Yes, the city did have an attempt at a farmers market once...but it never flew. It just wasn't convenient enough to make a difference to the people of the city, even for those who made an effort to go. In the end it was such down but was not forgotten...Of course, with a little town like this a fresh food market is bound to survive.

When they entered the bulk store she quickly grabbed a cart and started to push it down the aisles, picking up basic needs as well as a canned goods, just so they would be stocked up well. It was never fun to discover that you were missing just one essential ingredient. She didn't dawdle though, they needed to be quick if they wanted to have the energy to actually put all they bought away.

He followed her down the isles and occsionally wandering off to grab a few of the Items on his list. This place was just like he remembered. It seemed that Heather was finding her way around the store just fine because by the time he returned to her side with an arm full of stuff the basket was rather full. Carefully he set them down and helped her finnish in the store. They wheeled the groceries to the car before setting them in and locking their purchase securely inside. Ethan took her hand and pulled her back to the outside market. His attention was pulled to a fruit stand that was full of fresh apples, pears, oranges, freshly squeezed apple cider, fresh apple and orange juice. It all smelled delicious. He smiled and bought several oranges, apples, and pears. Along with some fresh apple cider.

The next stand that drew his attention was a stand belonging to a couple from upstate New york. Lining the stand were tins and bottles of Fresh Maple syrup. Ethan turned to Heather after ordering a half a gallon of the sweet, nature made, piece of heaven.

"This stuff is a bit more sweet then the artificial stuff and see.." he motioned for her to look as they were poured a bottle. "It is thinner but it goes a long way. I was raised on this stuff!" he smiled, accepting the bottle.

As he looked around there was still alot to get and still alot of Vendors to go to.

"How about you pick the next one?"

After having wandered around the store and having collected everything they needed, Ethan having brought most of it over to her in his arms, they paid for everything and left the store. She helped put things into the back of the car before watching her boyfriend lock it up so that all that they bought would be safe. With that complete she let her boyfriend take her hand and pull her over to the farmers market, her eyes darting around curiously at all the stands. There was so much there that she wasn't even sure where they would begin. Luckily it seemed that Ethan had some form of idea as he wandered over to a fruit stand and bought quite a bit of fruit.

A smile slipped onto Heather's lips as he then took her over to a maple syrup stand and bought half a gallon. She knew her boyfriend loved the stuff by the way he drowned his pancakes and waffles in it. However, with their tight budget they had to by the factory made stuff. Now that they would have a little more availability around them they would be able to get and afford it. When he said she should choose the next stand she looked around curiously before pointing over to a fresh vegetable stand.

"That one." She said with a grin before she trotted over and looked over all of the produce.

It was rather well stocked really. There were tomatoes and celery, plenty of potatoes and carrots as well. She basically grabbed quite a bit from that stand, buying enough to feed an army. She knew that at some point she would need to have Ethan's family over for dinner, whether or not that dinning room was fixed up or not. With a whole garden now packed in her arms and paid for she turned back to him with a smile.

"Alright, anything else you want to check out?"

She dragged him over to a Vegetable stand with a grin. Kelsey looked over the vegetables with a pleased eyes. It seemed that she was happy with the selcetion laid out before them. He knew that his lovely girlfriend enjoyed Vegetables more than he did so he let her pick out as many that pleased her. She ended up with enough to feed an entire army and even more. After the purchase she asked him if there was anyplace else or anything else he wanted to go or check out. He shook his head and smiled at her.

"Not unless there is someplace you want to go."

Heather shook her head as she smiled and, knowing that they had all they would need for quite awhile.

"Nope, I think I'm good, we should get back home and get all of this stuff put away, wouldn't want it going bad. Also, we really should take a break. We have done so much today and I don't know about you be I think a little relaxation sounds wonderful."

With that she wandered back over to the car with him, seeming to look a little chipper than she had the other day...Then again she wasn't having any crazy morning sickness at all so that wasn't much of a surprise. She waited for him to unlock the car before putting all of what she had into the back seat neatly, not wanting anything to get ruined. She then closed the door and opened the one to the passenger seat, slipping in with ease before leaning back at letting out a tired sigh. Even though though they had only gone shopping she felt like she had carried a boulder up a mountain...

As they went back to the car, Heather made it back first with him following close behind. He unlocked the car and helped her load grocerries into the car. Ethan went over to the drivers side and climbed in, leaning his head back, closing his eyes for a few quiet moments. He looked over at her as she slipped into the car and let out a tierd sigh. The man smiled a bit tierdly as he looked at her and reached out, touching her cheek and leaning it, giving her a gentle kiss and stroking her cheek lightly with his thumb.

"You are doing amazingly...I know everyone will love you here just as much as I love you and the baby...this will be a good place for him or her to grow up. I turned out alright didn't I...?"

He chuckled a bit to himself as he moved his hand back to the steering wheel, staring the car. Ethan turned on a bit cool air to counter the heat outside. It was Colorado but it was summer and they wern't too high up in the mountains so it was a little hot outside. The drive home was peaceful and he was relieved for that. When they arrived home he ushered her inside and brought in the groceries. He set them on the kitchen table and pulled open the fridge. By the time he finnished the fridge was packed as was the pantry. The bill had been a bit heafty but this would last awhile and he wouldn't have to rely upon his parents too much. He would get to enjoy what was left of his time off. As soon as they left he had booked a senic calender photoshoot and it was creeping up on him faster then he would have liked. He sighed and fixed his hair before going off to Find What Heather was up to.

Heather could only blink as Ethan leaned over to her and kissed her, a small smile forming on her lips as she returned it happily and placed her own hand on his cheek. He always knew just how to wake her right up and give her a boost of energy didn't he? She let out a small chuckled and nodded her head a bit before finally speaking to him.

"Yes you did, as perfect as perfect can be." She teased a bit as she pulled back at the same time he did.

The drive how was peaceful and quiet after that, something Heather enjoyed as she was still a little on the weak side of energy. She just didn't have the strength to run on full speed all day anymore. The pregnancy books mentioned something like this but she had no idea it would effect her this much. She would need to be careful on how she spent her energy from there on if she wanted to be able to work during the pregnancy. She could barely keep her eyes open on the drive home so sitting in a comfy chair at the computer would be twice as hard!

When they finally did get home Ethan shooed in side and brought in the groceries himself. Apparently he noticed her about to fall asleep on the way back. As he dealt with the groceries she kept herself busy with the dinning room, looking at it and trying to picture it without that terrible yellow. It was hard, but she could see it coming together in her head...now all they needed was paint and a dinning set.

He walked over to meet her in the dining room, stopping right behind her and wrapping his arms gently around her waist. Ethan gently pulled her against him, snuggling his face into the crook of her neck, feathering a few light kisses upon it before looking up and around the room.

"Such an ugly yellow...I hope you have a better color in mind. I"ll go insane if I have to stare at this yellow everyday for the rest of my life..." he joked, a small chuckle escaping his lips. "But for now you need to get some rest. I"m kind of tierd as well so I'll join you."

He pulled away from her and took her hand, walking back into the bedroom. Ethan smiled happily, looking at the room. It was complete accept for a few things here and there but they could be delt with in a short amount of time. It wasn't such a big deal...especilly when he had the most wonderful woman here with him. He didn't even bother changing before he laid back on the bed. It was...auctully more comfortable then the bed him and Heather Shared before. Ethan looked over at her and scooted closer, snuggling up against her. Originally he ran for the city as soon as he could get out of this tiny town...but now it was comforting to be back...a relief and relaxation, a life away from all the city rush. Nobody in this town was in a hurry to get anywhere or do anything. It was relaxing and the change of pace was welcomed. He was Glad Heather was fitting in here, though he knew she was a city Girl at heart...

Heather smiled as she felt Ethan slip behind her, holding onto her gently and putting butterfly kisses all over her neck. It was rather comforting, though if he kept doing it she was certain he'd make her fall asleep standing up. She let out a light laugh as he mentioned the color of the dining room, looking at him out of the corner of her eyes as she spoke.

"Oh, of course. I would never be able to live it down if I let such a terrible paint mistake survive in my household." She joked bit as he started to tug her up the stairs.

When they got into the room she didn't even change into any pajamas. It was still the afternoon but she did need a nap, they had gotten up early and that had put a damper on her energy at the moment. So, she kicked off her shoes and laid back onto the plush bed, grinning and her boyfriend joined her and cuddled close. It was a times like this that she found herself to be the most content, happy to just lay around and hold onto the made she loved like no other. Closing her eyes, she rested her head upon his shoulder and started to nod off, planning on sleeping until they needed to make dinner.

Around Dinner time Ethan woke up and looked at the clock. Quietly he slipped out of bed and went downstairs into the kitchen. He looked around in the fridge and pantry that were now full and examined everything they got for the first time. It was perfect...they had the ingredients to make Heather's favorite dish. He pulled them out and having some talents in the kitchen much like his mother he carefully cooked it. Careful to not make too much noise, in fear of waking Heather up. She must have been exasuted...he couldn't imagine carrying around another person for nine months. Within an hour Ethan finnished dinner and pulled out a set of dishes he had bought awhile back. They were clean and had never been used before. He set the silverwear and beautiful dishes just so and proceeded to serve dinner on the plates. When he went back up he slipped back onto the bed, feathering kisses along the exposed part of Heathers neck and shoulder. Ethan leaned in, his shaggy hair brushing against her face.

"Dinner is ready anytime you are love..."

He smiled and leaned in, pressing one more kiss against her Jaw.

Heather slept deeply that afternoon, curled up on the bed in the warm room. Her mind was full of sweet dreams, only thoughts of mother hood and her future with Ethan entertaining her unconscious mind. She would start to wake though at the feel of fluttering kisses along her skin, her eyes slowly opening to look up and see a smiling Ethan. She closed her eyes as he gave her one last kiss before opening them again and slowly making a move to sit up. Her hair was a bit messed up but she still looked relatively neat. She returned his smile and yawned a bit, still not completely awake as she looked around the room.

"Dinner already? Have we slept that long?" She asked him as she started to pat down her hair and get it out of her eyes.

She turned and made a move to stand, getting up and stretching her back a bit before settling down and looking to him with a smile. She was so relaxed and energized now, she really did need that nap after all. She would definitely have to nap more often during her pregnancy if it made her feel this good.

He was happy to see her smile. She yawned a bit, Heather still looking sleepy. Heather asked about dinner, moving her hair out of her face. Ethan smiled.

"I've been up for a bit...so I decided to get some dinner finnished for you."

She got up and he went over and stood by her as she streached. Ethan moved and took her hand, taking her down stairs. Sitting on the table with a beautifully lit setting was Heather's faveorite meal. He took her over to the table and pulled out her seat for her. When she sat he went over and took his seat before quitely waiting for her to start eating first before he started.

Heather smiled at him, still a little hazy from the long nap but awake enough to know what he was saying.

"Oh, thank you Ethan." She said sweetly as she watched him walk over to her.

She then let him lead her down the stairs ad into the kitchen. A wider smile seemed to spread over her face as she looked over the meal and the new dishes. She remembered when he had bought those. They were so nice but they had never gotten a chance to use them back in that apartment, she just had such a bad habit of breaking things and she forced him to pack them up until they had company or it was a special occasion. Now they could use them in their new house...hopefully they would last longer than their old dishes did with her.

She took a seat after he pulled out her chair for her, rather hungry as she smell of food hit her nose. She started to eat from her plate and let out a content "hmmm" before swallowing and turning to her boyfriend.

"It is really good, thanks you again Ethan...this also reminds me that I need to learn how to cook properly as well...I will be working from home so I should a least be able to take care of the house when you are gone." She thought out loud as she continued to eat.

When they walked down the stairs and into the kitchen the look on her face reminded him of Their third date. The first date had been Dinner at a fancy not to mention expensive resturant. The second date had just been escorting her around for the day and she let him take a few pictures of her at the park near their old apartment. This led him to not being able to resist asking for another date. He made dinner at his apartment for her, taking care to prepare the best food. It was a bit to show off the skills he had picked up from his mother. But what love sick man didn't want to impress the woman of his dreams...? Especilly when his dream had accepted to come over to his apartment for the evening and chat over dinner. The more dates they had the more in love he fell. Ethan fell hard and fast for the talented, beautiful writer. It all seemed so Nostolgic now that they were altering their lives for a new one to enter theirs. He led her over to the table and they sat down. She took a bite out of her food and a warm smile filled out his lips as she let out a content "hmmm". She then spoke, thanking him for the meal. Also she mentioned she should learn how to cook since she would be home the most. He took a bite and swallowed it before letting out a light-hearted chuckle.

"I can cook you know...you don't have to learn if you don't want to. I'd be delighted to come home from work and cook my beautiful Woman and child dinner. But if you want to learn...I would ask my mom. She is the one who I learned everything from. Prehaps I can take you over there tomorrow before I go out to a shoot. Got A few text during the move and I got a few long term jobs over the next couple months. They are not too far from here though So I can get home quickly if I need to. "

They talked through the dinner and after he insisted she rest while he took care of the dishes. Then he told her to wait for a moment. He returned with a carton of her faveorite Ice Cream. Instead of serving in dishes he just took out two spoons. Ethan opened it and took a scoop and smiled happily as the couple took turns feeding each other Ice Cream. It was delicious and hysterical. By the time they finnished he was in need of a shower and to wipe his face off. In this time right now Ethan was lucky...he couldn't wait to live the rest of life with his best friend and the woman he cherished and loved more than anyone or anything. Once again he cleaned up their mess in the kitchen before turning to her, fixing his hair a bit.

"So...What's next my Love?"

Heather continued to eat as he spoke, listening like she always did and taking in his every word. The jobs were needed, especially since they needed to start saving and investing for the baby. She also had to keep in mind the many things that still needed getting fixed, most importantly the dinning room. That yellow had to go. Also, it was nice that they were close to home, just in case there were any emergencies to worry about. However, not every job would be close by. If he was out of state for a few days or even weeks, she'd be the one cooking and cleaning for both herself and the baby. No, she would be learning how to cook, even if she lost a finger in the process of learning!

"I want to learn to cook Ethan." She started as she set down her fork to reach out for her drink. "You won't have jobs in state all the time and I don't want to bother your parents for a meal. Besides, what if you are tired after a long day? Or what if you get sick and can't cook because of that? It's just better if I learn. Besides, I have all those damned cook books and I haven't cooked a thing out of them! It's about time a put a few recipes under my belt."

The talking continued through dinner, talk of the baby, the house and other things passed their lips. She relaxed as he did dishes and she finished her drink, just enjoying the silent company that they shared. He had asked her to wait and she wasn't sure why, but she soon learned as a carton of ice cream and two spoon were placed in front of her. It was just like their fifth date, when she had bought ice cream for dessert but forgot that her dishes had been in the dishwasher. Thankfully, Ethan had been more than happy to just eat out of the carton with her, even letting her feed him for fun. They were also doing that now, placing full spoons of the stuff into the others mouth. By the time the ice cream was gone they both looked like they needed a shower. She giggled a bit as she wiped her face clean.

"I think a shower might be in order...then maybe we could climb into bed and read? Or watch TV down here...All I know is that tonight is a fuzzy slippers a baggy T-shirt night." She said with a small grin.

Ethan smiled and nodded. He stood up and looked down at her.

"I think...unless you are dead set on reading...after we both shower a movie or tv show marathon is in order. I need to go by the book store and find something else to read. If you tell me what you want to watch I'll find it while you shower."

After she told him he leaned in and kissed her gently then pulled away and left to go find the movie. After digging through some of their stuff he found the movie and got it to the title screen. Then he went upstairs and laid back on the bed. His phone buzzed with a text and he went to pull his phone out of his pocket. All of a sudden pain shot through his chest and he winced at the pain, placing his hand on his chest in suprise. His eyes widened a bit and he sighed, dismissing the pain. It had been a very long time since he had felt pain like that. It probably wasn't anything to worry about. He reached into his pocket and opened the text, reminding him of the shoot and that it had been moved...two more hours away from the initial hour away. He sighed sitting up and pulled his shirt off as he got ready to shower...setting his phone with the bed with the text open. He stood up and walked towards the bathroom.

Heather just smiled and shrugged her shoulders.

"I suppose I could watch a movie. Put on the breakfast club for me please." She said with a smile as she started to get up.

She returned his kiss happily before sanding up completely and following him into the living room. She watched him put the movie in for a moment before she went up the stairs. It didn't take her very long to shower and wash her hair, she was easily done in ten minutes at least. She dried herself off with a towel and pulled on one of her over sized T-shirts and some fuzzy socks, walking down the stairs just as Ethan was heading up. She placed a kiss upon his cheek just as she past him, making her way down the rest of the stairs and heading into the living room. She took a seat there on the couch and waited for him to come down and join her, waiting to hit the play button so they could watch together.

He went into the bathroom and finnished undressing before getting into the shower. Ethan washed up and then went into the room, getting dressed into some sweat pants and a tank top before going downstairs. He went over to the couch and sat next to her, tangling his fingers with hers and kissing her hand. Although he didn't notice it his skin had gone paler than it was an hour or two before. He smiled and reached over playing the movie. After a little while he laid back and snuggled into the couch with Heather. He didn't know why but his heart felt like it was pounding a bit harder and faster than before. It was a bit painful but he didn't worry about to much, and tried to hide it from Heather as he could see she was enjoying this time. As a child he did have Issues with his heart but doctors said it was resolved years ago. Ethan didn't notice he had his hands placed gently against her stoumuch as he tried to focus on the movie. He stayed there the entire movie shifted when she did so she was comfortable. When the movie ended it was getting late and he turned to her, smiling halfheartedly.

"Well...I got a text earlier and was informed that the shoot was moved. I have a three hour drive ahead of me tomorrow so I better get to bed. Plus I'm feeling off tonight for some reason..."

He stood up and walked up the stairs, pulling back the covers and laying down. Ethan got a pained expression on his face and composed himself...falling asleep before Heather got upstairs.

The moment that Ethan joined her on the couch she smiled and moved closer to him, letting him kiss her hand lightly as she leaned against him. She did not notice the pale look to his skin either because she had turned off most of the lights for the real movie feeling. Once the movie was going they were cuddling together, her laying on top of him as he held onto her stomach gently. They stayed like that for the whole movie, only shifting a bit for comfort. When the movie was done she looked to him and smiled a little, nodding her head as she listen to him explain that he was going to have to get up earlier. A small sigh slipped past her lips but she understood, work was work after all.

"Alright, you get to bed, I'll put everything away down here and join you up there." She said lightly.

After turning everything off, Heather soon joined Ethan in bed, finding him fast asleep as she arrived. She laid down next to him and pet his back for a moment before falling asleep herself.

It was seven am the next morning when he woke up. The bad feeling had gotten worse...now it felt like he had been hit by a bus. He pulled himself out of bed and went and looked in the mirror. The father to be was now sickly pale. He shook it off and went and dressed. His chest didn't hurt...it just felt heavy. It was about eight am before he gently woke Heather and he sat on the side of the bed waking for her to get ready. The shoot didn't start till noon so he was okay with time. When she was ready he took her hand and helped her out to the car. The whole drive was pretty quite as he felt like the living dead but he tried to look awake...to not worry Her. They arrived at his parents house after about a ten minuete ride and he leaned over, placing a kiss on her cheek. He smiled sleepily at her.

"Have a good day Love...take care and have fun. Hope my family won't be too much of a bother. My Parents should already be up...can't promise anything on behalf of my siblings though. Just ask Ma and she can teach you just about anything. I love you...be safe."

After he listened to anything she might have to say he glanced in the back to make sure he had all his camera equpitment. Then he bid her farewell and drove off towards the shoot. It was about noon when he arrived at the shoot. He gathered his stuff and wondered off towards the shoot, arriving on time.
