The sun began to make its way softly through the leaves of the forest. The birds were singing their songs and a few of its other residents began their daily chores.
Artemia had fallen into a light sleep, jumping through various noises throughout the night. It made her more exhausted than she should have been. Not that she would have gotten any better rest anywhere else. Her nightmares were enough to haunt the drow...
Probably not, but you understand the point.
She sat up and rubbed her eyes, limbs feeling heavy. Thirst began to bother her dry mouth. She stood from where she had settled for the night, allowing her thick cloak to fall to the floor. Exhaustion clung to her but she made her way into the forest, following the sound of trickling water. After clumsily making her way through the various foliage and and sneaky tree trunks, she finally found her destination. It was a narrow stream trickling through a path in the trees. She knelt down and used her hand as a scoop to drink the cold, delicious liquid. Having her fill, she gazed into the clear water that reflected her face back to her on the makeshift scoop of her hand. It was sharper than she remembered.
"Hideous," the woman said aloud, her face souring at the sight. She freed the water from their prison and gazed around, enjoying the peace.
