Prince of the Edflield Kingdom.
His father, king Edwin Ryker the Third.
His mother, queen Sarah Edelgard Ryker
His oldest brother, crown-prince Grady Ryker
His oldest sister, princess Arwen Ryker
His older brother, second prince Silvester Ryker
His older brother, third prince Sigurd Ryker
His older sister, second princess Flora Ryker
His older brother, fourth prince Miles Ryker
His personal guard, Melia Sigweard
Out of all his siblings, Albert was the only one influenced more by his mother than by his father, which was the source of his more progressive ideals. After all, his mother was born and raised as the princess of the formerly independent city-state Havenloft (now part of the Kingdom of Edfield), where society was a lot more egalitarian. One of the queen's reasons for marrying king Edwin, despite him taking down her entire country, was her desire to change the Edfield Kingdom from within. The latter ended in a failure, which might explain when she insisted on pushing her ideals onto Albert.
The youngest prince long lived in the shadow of his brothers, who were more accomplished and well-known than him. The crown-prince was groomed to become the next king and always gave off an air of perfection. The second prince, Silvester, was given much of the same training, in case something happened to his brother and he'd be the next in line become king instead. This lead to a sour relation between the two, which got so bad that it eventually prompting Silvester to go on an expedition into the Hinterlands, one that he never returned from. Silvester's disappearance might've been what inspired Grady to have Albert meet a similar fate.
The third prince, Sigurd, was trained to take on a position in the army, becoming a fairly competent general. He'd been at the forefront of the most recent wars, in which the Edfield Kingdom took over the entire southern half of the continent. They also took over some nations bordering the Hinterlands to the north, which were particularly gruesome battles that have left Sigurd to be among the most feared men in the continent. Only the Hinterlands in the north-west and far north and a few smaller independent kingdoms in the north-east remained out of the Kingdom of Edfield's grasp. For now.
The fourth prince, Miles, was more of a bookworm and eventually became a relatively famous historian. He may have had an unintended hand in restarting the interest for the Hinterlands, as he translated many texts about its supposed riches and lost culture. He is neither popular nor unpopular, as he mostly follows his own interests and doesn't bother much with anything else. Only those who cross him learn how terrifying he can be.
Albert's oldest sister, princess Arwen, was married off to a prince of the large Tengiz Empire, on the other side of the ocean. It was a political marriage made to stimulate trade between the continents, which was only a mild success at best, as the journey was too long and arduous to be fruitful for most trade. Considering Albert was still young when she was married off, Albert barely knows her. The second princes, Flora, had instead been leading a very sheltered life. She'd also suffered having to listen to a lot of the queen's ideals, but unlike Albert, she chose not to act on them. She simply loved her life of luxury and being pampered too much to risk losing it.
The latter was what makes Albert stand out from his siblings, as he took his mother's ideals to heart. He did a lot to bring education to the peasants and attempted to abolish slavery, he allowed women to take up certain roles that would normally be exclusively held by men, he tried to fight inequality between various races and species and he even suggested ways for the common citizens to influence the decision-making in their own city or village. It wasn't all that strange that he got popular and it was even less strange that his older brother eventually exiled him.. After all the, Alberts outrageous ideals threatened to destabilize the kingdom. Having his mother spread them was easy enough to ignore, as she was far past her prime, but having a potential heir to the crown gain popularity by spreading these ideals was simply too much of a risk for Grady.

Bodyguard / Security
Aston Army (former general)
Prince Albert Ryker
Prince Sigurd Ryker
She grew up in the eastern-most part of the Kingdom, in one of the most recently conquered territories, a formerly independent country called Aston. Due to monster threats from the nearby Hinterlands, both men and women were taught to fight in Aston. It was in one of the battles against these monsters from the Hinterlands that Melia learned she possessed magic, namely the ability to heal others. This magic meant she ended up taking up a far more prominent position in the battles than normal, especially for a woman. Rather than being put in an emergency reserve unit, she became a general. This also meant she was directly involved in larger battles, fighting at the forefront of the war against the Edfield Kingdom. In fact, it was prince Sigurd himself that took her down.
She was spared, unlike her allies, as Sigurd realised how powerful having someone healing magic would be. Sadly enough for him, nothing he could do would make her heal his men, regardless of whether he attempted threats and torture or the allure of rewards and riches. She didn't bend or break, not even when her family's safety was threatened. It's why she was eventually imprisoned instead. The only reason she wasn't killed, was that Sigurd was convinced he would eventually manage to break her, once nothing of her kingdom remained.
When Albert got her out of prison almost a year later, she immediately distrusted him and his motivations, but he offered her a reasonable offer. She'd be put in charge of his personal security, which couldn't possibly change the outcome of events on a large enough scale for Melia to feel like she was betraying what remained of her own fallen kingdom. It was, an argument that she accepted merely due to her desperation to get back into the world. She later learned that Albert had used his rights as a fellow prince to foil Sigurd's attempt to keep her in jail for the rest of her life. Through time, she learned that the youngest prince was far different from his family which made hesitant agreement turn into true loyalty.
Reason(s) for joining:
She chose to be exiled along with the fifth prince. She was given a chance to stay due to her magic, but she refused it.
Queen Sarah Edelgard Ryker
Prince Albert Ryker
Morana is a Harvin, a small humanoid species that lived along the borders of the Hinterlands. When the Hinterlands started to become increasingly dangerous, a lot of them took refuge in Havenloft, as the city-state welcomed them more than any of the nearby Kingdoms. In return, they swore their loyalty to the king and queen, offering their talents in return for shelter and safety.
Morana is a simple women, having grown up in relative peace and safety. This changed after the fall of Havenloft, which left her homeless and forced her to steal and rob people to survive. After all, nobody in the Kingdom of Edfield was willing to employ someone of her species, which was deemed to be a lesser one. Having lived on the streets for the last years of her life, she's really hoping to turn things around by following the prince into exile.
From a very young age, Morana was trained in the art of assassination, as both of her parents had served the king and queen of Havenloft as assassins. Her family aided them in keeping the stability in the city-state by getting rid of its undesirables, but they weren't able to stop the mighty Edfield Kingdom.
While she was still young, Morana gained her first and last order; to follow princess Sarah Edelgard, who'd soon become queen Sarah Edelgard Ryker. The queen managed to keep Morana's existence hidden and kept using her, now to deal with some of the worst in the Eldfield Kingdom. In her new position, there was even more that she couldn't deal with publicly, so Morana saw her workload increase.
However, when queen Sarah learned of the faith that would befall her youngest son, she decided to sent Morana to keep an eye on him. Years of loyally following orders made Morana agree, but she's far from happy with her new job of 'babysitting' the prince.
Reason(s) for joining:
She's trying to find a new and better life, outside of the speciesist Kingdom of Edfield. The Queen sent her to keep an eye on Albert.

Edfield Royal Trading Cooperation
Fourth prince, Miles Ryker
Oswald is famous, both as a baron and as a trader. He inherited a lot of wealth from his father and exponentially increased this wealth, growing in both fame and infamy. He's been accused of many things with regards to how he earned his wealth, but nobody was ever able to testify against him. He made sure to erase their memories. He's known to use every trick in the book (and then some) to always get the better end of a bargain.
His luck ran out when he crossed prince Miles. He was trying to earn money off of the prince by selling him 'antique books' that were forged. Or rather, he was trying to see if how far he could get. The prince found out what happened and had Oswald arrested, even threatening to put him to death. Oswald's magic hadn't worked on prince Miles, as the prince was already suspicious and had his guards keep watch, so that Oswald was unable to get close enough to the prince to use his magic. Oswald was used to using his money and influence to buy his way out of problems, but he underestimated how stubborn prince Miles could be. Trying to buy off the prince instead led to his downfall, as prince Miles only got enraged further. When Oswald learned of prince Albert's fate, he quickly begged prince Albert to grant him pardon and let him join, hoping to escape the wrath of prince Miles.
Reason(s) for joining:
He failed to swindle prince Miles and had to flee. He also hopes to find even more wealth and power in the Hinterlands.
He's from a relatively simple background and joined a ship the moment was he legally able to, at the age of 12. Since then, he has always been hopping from ship to ship until making it all the way to the rank of captain. There are few captains as experienced and well-sailed as him, which earned him the right to become captain of one of the first warships made by the Kingdom of Edfield. He's keeping up a tough guy act, but he's hoping to retire soon and regrets never having started a family.
You don't want to try starting a drinking context against him, as he's known to have never lost one. Some people even believe it's some type of hidden magic that makes him immune to the effects of alcohol.
