What if Fate messed up?
Humans have the habit of referring to "fate" as the reason why a chain of events has happened or as a supernatural force. "Fate brought us here." or "I'll leave it to fate." are common examples. Fate apparently controls everything.
What if Fate messed up? it's very likely that someone will say "it's impossible for Fate to make a mistake", but we all know that nothing and not a soul is perfect, even the mightiest being in existence uses his power unwisely. So, about these mistakes: Death. Death is a mistake, a flaw in Fate's plan. People meet unexpected ends all the time, and Fate never intended them to. Suicides are the event in which humans have the power to push themselves past Fate's control, meeting Death by their own desire. Death by old age is something that is meant to be fixed, but Fate is busy. What if humans were meant to live forever? it would be extremely convenient, yet the earth could become extremely overpopulated. So maybe death needs to happen in order to keep balance? yes, that's it. Maybe death is needed to stabilize the balance of everything, things need to die. But there still may be mistakes. Errors are what they can be called for now, sometimes "imaginary friends". Things meant to exist in reality and the physical plane, but never made the cut somehow. There are plenty of Errors who reside in an alternate reality known as "Oversight", a reality very similar to the original one, only there is where deceased people rest. Fate has given them the job of governing small things in the material world, which is directly linked to Oversight. This can range from small to important depending on the job, governing the well-being of animals to governing well-being of newborns, and we all should know how hard that is. Recently, rips in reality have began to form, allowing Errors to temporarily exist and interact with existing objects. Others have began to take in these Errors, some of them being children, others animals, even inanimate objects. Little do they know that these beings tend to disrupt the destinies of others, severing possible futures, and creating new ones.
