Hmm? What do you mean?

If you mean about your questions from yesterday that I've just realized went unanswered (as I expected DBZ7 to answer, but I guess noooot), I'll go ahead answer for you in any case:
Also, how long have the Liberators been known as such? One of the profiles made me think less than 8 years, but I thought I'd check. Would there be a problem with my character working closely with "Doc?" Medical and robotics were going to be Gideon's focus-- so perhaps he might be a sort of protege?
The Liberators have been in action for two years as of the start of the RP, but even so, they've yet to really become a notable threat in Zagan's eyes just yet, as he believes that they're nothing more than just another rebellion that he'll crush just as easily as the other rebellion militias that came before over the course of 400 years

As for working with Doc, we'd rather not have any characters be notably close to him, at least not yet, since we haven't even introduced him just yet, the IC reason being that he keeps to himself so Mary and Buster are the ones who mostly know about him personally, with most others just knowing about him through reputation, but maybe he can come to do so over the span of the RP, as Doc does focus on robotics and medical expertise indeed

In general I mean. It just seems people are having a bit of trouble getting on the same page-- seem to be getting different answers from different people.

Also, if you have a medical and engineering NPC I believe it makes having another medical character a bit superfluous, especially if he isn't really working under "Doc." Having a character that isn't really action-oriented is always a bit of a risk, and if there's already someone to do the same job there's little point in keeping him around. Had I known, I would've gone with something else. Either way, I'll rethink my character. c:

I think that's just your imagination :x

Though I'm still not sure about what you mean by people not being on the same page.

And for the second part... Well, I mean, it's not like this one person is going to manage engineering and doctoring for the entire group, lol, so any position you'd like would be fine, as the Liberators need all that they can get. If you so desire to have your character have a mentor, you could either have it be some nameless other medical officer who works for the Liberators, or heck, if you want to so much, a whole new other character.

You really shouldn't have put so much thought into Doc tbh, lol, as he was only mentioned in Buster's history, as again, we haven't even formally introduced him yet, and we won't until the RP actually starts.

Perhaps.

Then I suppose I'm confused as to the size of the Liberators' group. I assumed it was quite small from the description, but this now sounds as though it's fairly large and similar characters may be less redundant if that's the case. No, I wasn't really planning on having him study under someone, but that seemed to be what was best going to fit into the plot and given characters after I learned there was a head of Med/Engi. I'm not trying to put too much thought into your NPC, but as there's not much info about him, I don't know if I'm stepping on toes or not. I'm just one of those people who thinks about things.

I understand wanting things to be a surprise, but for fussy people (like me) who like their characters to fit very well within a plot and existing characters, it can cause a change of plans. I'm just fussy, really-- I like to know details from the start so I don't have to rewrite because I feel intrusive.

Either way, I'll think on it.

The Liberator Base is situated underground and goes down for multiple reinforced floors, although the exact number is being sorted out. Also, more info on NPCs will be given out but immediately placing a character under the guidance of a specific NPC is something I'm not comfortable with without tons of private talk and planning. Your character will be just fine being among the needed medical professionals among the Liberators.

ehrm ignore the mech

Name
Levi "Hawk" Everett
(Only those he knows well call him by his first name)

Age
34

Appearance
Hawk's cybernetics continue from his arm to covering half of his upper chest. He almost always wears something over his soft auburn eyes, whether it'd be googles or a pair of aviators. Underneath his helmet are waves of slightly unkempt ashen brown hair. Causal wear is usually just army pants, combat boots, and a tank top.

Species
Human (Heavily augmented)

Affiliation
Liberator

Personality
Hawk is familiar with heavy combat and warfare. He is hardened by this but still maintains a more care-free disposition on the battlefield than most. Fearless, brave, a little bit hot-headed and rash, he's an emotional man who fights his damn hardest for what he believes in - the Liberation effort. Though some may say his high risk high reward combat style is suicidal. Hawk mostly keeps to himself when off missions most times only talking to other front liners and long time friend and engineer, Caitlyn.

Class
Soldier/Heavy Artillery (Well versed with fighting on the ground, especially comfortable with heavier weapons.)

Enhancements
Hawk's arm and upper left chest are completely augmented and cybernetical in nature. His new arm allows him to achieve physical limits beyond normal human capacity. It was not his choice having this enhancement but he willingly uses it to advance the Liberation as they see fit.

Skills / Equipment
Hawk is well versed on ground warfare as he was firefighting Zagan forces long before he got his cyborg arm, he prefers to stick to assault rifles if not handling heavy weaponry such as a mini-gun. He's extremely competent in hand to hand combat thanks to his maintained physical condition as well as augmented arm.

Whilst stationed and not on missions, he carries a standard hand gun strapped to his belt. He always has a pair of dog tags hanging around his neck that he's had since before his augmentation. Hawk prefers to keep from curious eyes as well. He always carries a pack of cigarettes and his personally engraved silver lighter. He also always carries a crumpled picture of him and a younger girl, few get to see it.

During missions, Hawk is most often equipped with a shotgun and/or assault rifle. He is also usually equipped with whatever heavy weaponry is needed for the mission such as a rocket launcher or heavy explosives.

Weaknesses
His past haunts him and keeps him from truly getting close with any of his associates. He's remorseful and blames himself for his past and thus has a tendency to rashly throw himself into deadly situations for the sake of the Liberation as he truly does not care if he personally survives or dies.

History
Hawk had spent his entire life joining different small resistance efforts, only for them to be snuffed out and destroyed. Most times, Hawk barely managed to escape alive. During his time fighting against Zagan forces he eventually found himself responsible for an orphaned seven year old who was separated from her only family during a firefight he started. He stopped fighting for resistance forces to take care of the girl, Leah, and for years he raised and trained her to survive.

He had been her guardian and father for a total of four and a half years before she died. When he and Leah were caught in the crossfire of a firefight between the Liberators and Zagan soldiers, a Liberator engineer by the name of Caitlyn offered to escort them out of the line of fire. The three fought through enemy forces to escape but as they approached the safe zone a stray mine was set off, killing Leah and heavily marring Hawk.

The next time he woke, he was in a small Liberator base barely holding onto life thanks to the engineer, Caitlyn, and a team of medics using cybernetics to replace the lost of his arm. With Leah dead his heart was shattered. He had seen many friends die before, but knowing he couldn't protect Leah was different. His hatred for Zagan was fiercer then ever. With the help of Caitlyn he recovered and officially joined the Liberators, intent on revenge.

yes i know that is Miranda from ME

Name

Caitlyn Jensen
Age
27

Appearance
Being an experimental engineer, Caitlyn actually made and installed a small electronic interface that she wears over her eyes as contacts. The interface allows her to analyze mechanical objects quickly and efficiently. If you look closely enough into her blue eyes you can make it out.

Species
Human (Slightly Augmented)

Affiliation
Liberator

Personality
Caitlyn is an intelligent, well-spoken and determined woman. Perhaps a little too determined and intelligent, Caitlyn can often be mistaken for a ruthless bitch but she doesn't inherently disapprove of anyone. Normally she's more swayed towards the scientific and realistic way of seeing things, though she does have moments where her feelings get in the way of her judgement, such as when she installed a prototype cybernetic arm on some unknown dying man because she just saw his daughter blown to bits by a Zagan explosion.

Class
Combat Engineer

Enhancements
Caitlyn's only enhancement is her prototype contact interface she wears over her eyes. They do not offer anything combat wise but it helps her do her job as an engineer as efficiently as possible.

Skills / Equipment
Caitlyn's stronger weapon is perhaps her intelligence but she knows that that's not enough to ensure her survival on a firefight. Used to being on the front and repairing what damaged Liberation cybernetics she can, Caitlyn carries a single pistol and SMG in case of encountering an enemy personally. While on a mission she wears a skin tight body suit she engineered to be sturdier than it appears, though she is hardly a proper front liner.

Whilst stationed she only has her pistol on hand as she spends most of her times in the engineering rooms, fixing whatever needs to be fixed with the tools provided by the Liberation effort. At base, she wears looser clothes that she doesn't mind getting messy as she works on repairs.

Weaknesses
Physically, Caitlyn is lacking in a combat sense. She is not a soldier, not a fighter, she is just an engineer willing to put herself at risk to support the Liberation's front line. She is also not the greatest at making friends due to her work driven attitude, but she is willing to die for the effort as evidenced by her place on the battlefield.

History

Caitlyn as a young girl grew up underneath the influence of Zagan. In a small town known for the intellect of it's youth, she lived restricted and controlled - until later being freed by one of the groups that came before the Liberators.

During the recapture of her home town her parents were killed right in front of her and she was taken in by the group's main engineer during the aftermath of the battle. Her new guardian raised her as his own and taught her his ways and she eventually surpassed him. The engineer, who was already old when he first found her would later pass on and she took up the mantle.

The rebellion group later on decided it's best move was to assimilate with the rising Liberator effort, Caitlyn leading this change due to her belief that the Liberators were their best chance and to bolster that chance, they would need as much assets as possible. Upon assimilation, Caitlyn resigned from her formal position so she could help out the soldiers on the front line, where she would later meet and be affected by Hawk.

I went kinda out there for their backstories so if anything needs changing so that it's more aligned with the universe, tell me and I'll be on it!

That's preferable for me, especially with Gideon being the way he is. I just felt like I might be stepping on toes or making a potentially useless character if I created another medic if the group was a small one. I'll do a bit of thinking and get an updated CS up later tonight.

Thank you for bearing with my questions and concerns. c:

So...when can we expect an IC Thread? (:

Everyone who signed up on Zagan's side, keep your eyes peeled

@everyone

OPEN SIGNUPS - Epitaph (IC)

IC THREAD IS UP

HOPEFULLY YOU PEOPLE ARE STILL ALIVE

DBZ7 will be making the first actual post because... he really wants to, lol.

I am alive, yes x.x

I'm around as well. (:

So is this just really inactive or...

@DBZ7 is just really lazy :T

Pestered me to hell to make the IC thread so he could make the intro post and he's not even doing it lol

xD I'm tempted to just post for my character and wait for the intro : |
